Pirate yandere. Idk how you'd go about this one bc I'm not SUPER into pirates, but I think it could be cool.

Vampire yandere x human? THIS ONE is more my style. I think about vampires way too much, so I have many ideas.

Cruel mistress vampire with a favorite maid (shes sweeter to you, but don't think you won't face her wrath if you step out of bounds.)

You could do some polyamorous yandere vampires, a husband and wife maybe? A frostbitten visitor stumbling into their crumbling castle, desperate to seek refuge? The couple that resides there look deathly ill and starved. They're oddly flirtatious and all over you, speaking in an older english. With every night you stay, they start to look healthier and healthier, while you get weaker and weaker. You can never leave them if you're too ill, right?

Maybe, you could switch it up? Yandere READER x vampire? I wrote this really toxic yuri concept with a very jealous yandere who kills all of her vampire darling's other (casual) lovers. The vampire basically just keeps her around for blood because she's so willing (she also has a very fucked up kind of love for her as well). The relationship is really odd and they're both terrible. The yandere is a monster who kills people and the vampire is a monster who takes advantage of the yandere's obsessive nature, keeping them under her thumb and low-key treating them like a pet. Make no mistake, however, the yandere enjoys it. It's like a game for them, kind of? Their dynamic is so complicated and deeply fucked up, but it's a lot of fun to write. I don't know if you like the darker, more horrific aspects of yanderes or not, but I figured I'd throw it in! I'm probably never going to actually do anything with it, so if you want to use it, you absolutely can.

All of these are heavily inspired by Lady Dimitrescu and Dracula, just in case you couldn't tell LMAO. (Btw I'm so excited for the new Cygnus chapter!!!)

and the poly couple suggestion reminds me of the visual novel First Bite, and im like 90% sure it has a poly route in it, but it's been a while since i've played and i could be wrong on that, and the internet is not being helpful rn

and i love the idea of them both feeding on the reader and doing the whole "yandere makes you sick to keep you by their side" angle there

i really like the idea you had there with the toxic yuri yandere relationship, i like darker themes in yanderes from time to time, sometimes my yanderes are very soft and i wonder how i can edge 'em up without just writing misery p*rn lol, but this is an interesting concept. if it's really cool with you, i could see myself taking a stab at it. it's in the pile ✌️

I’ll answer this quickly because an unwarranted overanalysis about Shuu and sex is coming I fear - which was not the question!

Personally, in general: no.

When I read him, when I write him, I don’t see him as a virgin. I actually have a oneshot related to his ‘first time’ sitting half-baked in my drafts, relating it to ‘ghoul hood’ and people eating - it’s maybe a bit Bones And All coded lol - I might post it idk. My main project with him has sex as a sort of key theme - using it to express passion that isn’t understood, ferality, and forms of self-destruction - I bring that up to say that maybe I don’t think Shuu is a virgin because I have been writing this thing too long, and maybe it’s swayed my answer/opinion of him. Maybe also worth noting that I headcanon Shuu as having BPD and I have BPD, and that can affect how you act sexually and I also find that the way I myself think about sex and the like can also be a bit odd. So in short: maybe I’m utterly wrong, and am horrendously projecting my experiences alone in my opinion! You tell me!

In canon though, I’m like 99% sure he has eaten sexual organs - and I don’t doubt there’s more off-screen meals he’s done like that. So maybe that adds a bit of credence to Shuu not being a virgin - if you associate the way ghouls eat with their sexuality. I certainly wouldn’t call him a prude, regardless.

I think Shuu’s virginity or lack thereof can be approached it in different ways - I feel like Shuu could be read as a virgin also. If someone said that I wouldn’t argue heavily against it, unless it was used to like. Make fun of him, or something - because mocking virginity is just really lame to me. But I don’t think him being a virgin is mischaracterisation or whatever.

Maybe virginity isn’t that big of a deal for ghouls - they eat people and I imagine they don’t differ Down There much from humans, so maybe they just think of sex differently. Maybe they experience it differently, feel it differently. I think that’s an interesting thought - how ghoulhood might affect their sexuality - something to chew on, I like that.

If I do allow myself one tangential point here about Shuu and sex in general, I would argue against is the idea that Shuu is like. A horny sex pest. I’ve seen that interpretation before, mostly on the TG Reddit - shocking to no one. Worth noting that TG Reddit is where most of the straight men in this fandom are, and that particular interpretation of Shuu feels very much like a straight man’s comprehension of pining. Like I’ve seen art of him with kinda foot fetish intentions from him and it feels so…Like people weren’t understanding why Shuu is a bit. Peculiar about the Kaneki handkerchief - i don’t read it as a fetish or anything for him, i read it as him being hyper-focused on something and needing every part of it - something like that. He might be getting a bit randy in those scenes, but I feel like it’s not in the way ppl have made out - Shuu doesn’t feel like a ‘male gaze man’ to me, and that interpretation does feel like that to me.

Hiya! Curious about joining bluesky but intimidated by all the features? Already on bluesky but want to learn more? Then welcome to my quick guide on getting started and navigating bluesky!~

What is Bluesky?

it’s a social media site that’s owned by no single person or company. it's aim is to bring back the early days of twitter before bots, elon musk or algorithms took over. Personally I find the site really cozy, wholesome, and engaging. my Bluesky account for example

What’s unique about Bluesky?

→ CUSTOMIZATION: ‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎your timeline is very easy to control. There’s tons of options, so be sure to go through each tab in your settings. some options include: turning off autoplay, changing the order in which threaded replies show, changing DM settings, content preferences and lots of visual app settings.

→ MODERATION LISTS: human made, mass blocklists. These are public lists of accounts that when you subscribe to you automatically block or mute everyone in that specific blocklist. A great way to avoid unwanted content, and interactions. ✦ Moderation lists I recommend will be below the cut

→ STARTER PACKS: recommendation lists on who to follow, made by users. You can even curate your own starter pack of recommendations! ✦ Starter pack recommendations will be below the cut

→ FEEDS: public timelines, basically. There are a lot of feeds you can join, or you can even create your own. I made a feed featuring just my pixel art so it doesn’t get cluttered with text posts or other photos in my media tab. ✦ I’ll post feeds I recommend below and link you to a tutorial on how to create your own feed

→ BLOCKING/MUTING: bluesky has a great blocking system. When you block someone they can no longer see, or interact with you. They also have a feature to make your blog inaccessible unless logged in. you can also mute specific people, delete post replies, and even detach your post from a reblog. You can also mute specific words, phrases, tags etc.

→ NSFW: bluesky allows NSFW content, including artwork, porn, lewds etc. They also have a great moderation page to avoid the content completely, censor the content, or show it if you’d wish. ✦ just go to settings > moderation > toggle on NSFW settings and it’ll let you heavily moderate.

→ LABELS: this is a really cool feature on the site, you can subscribe to certain pages that enable a lot of fun/useful labels that help you in different ways! (like pronoun tags, artist tags etc) ✦ Labels to browse will be posted below

→ COMMUNITIES: the vastly diverse communities really feel like the best parts of tumblr. since you can so heavily curate your experience, it can really feel like a calming oasis. Mine is mostly artists, and other creatives.

there’s also a large community of professional artists, art directors, authors, celebrities, and even the best shitposters from twitter. the app really is what you make of it but it’s thriving right now.

• add a bio, header, and/or pfp!! people may block you if you don't have any of those thinking you're a bot

•tags are for categorization, tagging posts with 'trending' tags won't boost them, it'll just get people to report you for spam

Tumblr: A Beginners Guide

Hello and welcome to Tumblr!

If you're new here, this post is a little guide meant to help you understand how things work on Tumblr. I’m going to give you some guidelines and explain a little bit about Tumblr culture. Hopefully, this will help you settle in, avoid unnecessary pitfalls and enjoy your time here. I hope you’ll like it here on our hellsite (affectionate).

1. First and most importantly, please change your userpic and put something on your blog.

If you don’t, other users will think you're a bot and you'll be reported/blocked. It’s nothing personal but we are at war with the bot accounts. Most older users will automatically assume that a blank blog= bot.

You don’t need to do much. If you aren’t comfortable rebloging things or making your own posts yet, just change your userpic and add a short description to your blog.

Here’s an example of a description you can use.

‘Hi! I’m new here. I’m still working out how this place works but I promise I’m not a bot so please don’t block me.’

2. Go to your settings, then to your dashboard settings and change things to how you like them. I suggest-

Make Tumber show you posts in chronologically order, rather than pushing ‘best stuff first’

Pick a colour palate that doesn’t give you a headache

Make Tumblr show timestamps on posts and reblogs. While a post is never too old to reblog, you don’t want to accidentally signal boost something as ‘news’ when it's acutely years out of date and no longer relevant.

Choose not to shorten long posts

3. Go to the top of your dashboard, press on the toggle and arrange things how you like them.

I suggest pinning your ‘Following’ first. It means that when you go to your dashboard, the first thing you’ll see are the blogs that you’ve actively chosen to follow.

Some older users will tell you that the ‘For You’ page is useless and should be ignore. This is because for a long time it was either non-existent or terrible so most older users – myself included – just don’t bother with it.

However, nowadays it’s fine so use it if you want. ‘Following’ should still probably be pinned first though because you know what you like better than the algorithm.

4. Please don’t censor your words here. Tumblr doesn’t shadow ban you for saying random words.

Shadow banning does happen but it’s mostly at random or because you were targeted by trolls. If it happens to you, you’ll need to fight to get unshadow banned.

The point is that you won’t get shadow banned for saying ‘death,’ ‘murder’ or ‘rape.’ Don’t do things like saying ‘graped’ instead of ‘raped.’ If you do, you’re just going to piss people off and make it harder for people to avoid triggers.

5. Don’t spam the tags!

You can ramble in the tags all you want and nobody will mind. However, if you tag an unrelated post with a popular tag, you will be reported for spamming. It’s against the Tumblr terms and conditions, it’s annoying and it’s something the porn bots do.

When you are making your own post, the tags you use should be to help other people find your post. When you are rebloging other people’s posts, the tags you use should be so you can find that post again if you want.

The other thing that tags are for – both in your own posts and reblogs – is for adding things that don’t really fit in the post itself but you still wanted to say. You can add paragraphs in your tags and no one will bat an eye but if you tag a post with a trending but unrelated tag, that’s spamming.

6. Please, reblog things. It helps posts spread a lot more than liking them does. Think of your blog as a scrap book where you put stuff you like.

If you aren’t comfortable adding to a post, that’s fine. Just reblog it and share it with others.

7. That said, Tumblr posts are collaborative and we like it when you add to them. It doesn’t have to be much. You don’t have to add something every time you reblog a post but it is a part of the fun to do it sometimes.

If it’s an art or fanfic post comments like; ‘good post op,’ ‘I LOVE THIS!’ or even ‘OUCH my heart!!!’ will make an OP’s day.

If it’s another sort of post; you can add your thoughts or join in on committing to the bit. Try matching the energy the post is already giving.

If you aren’t comfortable commenting directly, you can always put it in the tags.

8. The follow and block buttons are your friend. You decide what you see here. If your dashboard doesn’t spark joy, you can always follow someone new and/or follow an interesting tag. If someone is making your time here unpleasant unfollow and/or block them.

9. Tumblr likes to commit to the bit. Sharks are smooth (they are not) and the 1973 Martin Scorsese movie ‘Goncharov’ is the greatest film ever made (it doesn’t exist).

10. A post is never too old to reblog. We like old posts here.

Every now and again, you will see a post that is over ten years old. The reblogs will probably be full of people expressing delight about seeing the original post again or seeing it for the first time.

11. You don’t want to be Tumblr famous.

There are niche blogs that are dedicated to one thing and are well liked e.g. @the-haiku-bot (the one bot we love), @writing-prompt-s and @cantheykillmacbeth. However, they are either side blogs or blogs run by multiple people.

Your main blog should just be somewhere you like to spend your time. There are no benefits to being Tumblr famous on your main blog.

13. Tumblr loves dates. Whether it’s the Ides of March (it sure would be a shame if certain world leaders got stabbed), Halloween (which we start celebrating in about July) or just a random day of the week e.g. ‘Out of Touch Thursday’ there is always something happening that you can celebrate.

14. The staff always pulls a silly and harmless prank on Apil Fools Day. Last year we got to boop each other.

Okay, I think that’s the basics covered. You’ll get the hang of everything else as you go along.

It does feel like a vortex where all the funniest people alive come together and just sort of silently agree that we all have the same twisted, nonsensical, on-crack sense of humor in existence. I dig it.

It's gotten a lot more political in recent years, which is irritating, because I will jump off a building if it ends up becoming just another Twitter, but there are enough people here who loathe the Twitter "vibe" to such a degree that they'd probably all jump off of buildings too if it got that bad.

It is, as advertised, pure chaotic effervescence. Undiluted insanity in its finest and most entertaining form, and I like it. Everybody here is a gremlin in one way or another. We're all climbing around on the ceilings and peering with glowing eyes out at humanity from the shadows. It makes me audibly laugh a lot more than any other platform does, that's for sure.

Man, getting used to posting here is always so dang funny- I probably already said this a gazillion times, but Tumblr feels so alive, and in so many different ways... it's a time killer, in the best (and also worst) way possible lol. Part of me would say it has a bit of the chaos of old internet in the modern world, so I guess that's why so many people ended up liking it ^^ What do you peeps think?

Fandom 101: The Origin of the Citrus Scale

Ah, the citrus scale. It’s like a cryptid roaming the edges of modern fandom communities. Long-tenured veterans speak of it with affectionate mockery while newcomers google curiously. A relic from a bygone fandom era, the citrus scale saw a brief resurgence in 2018 during the Tumblr porn ban, suggested as a way to avoid the new bot censors trawling for posts with the NSFW tag—though never, I think, in seriousness. 

That may have been jocular and short-lived, but it does point to the reasons why the citrus scale was created in the first place. Certain fandom activities have always had to fly under the radar to one degree or another. Whether you’re trying to evade legal action or simply avoid deletion based on explicit content, a certain level of obfuscation is sometimes worthwhile.

It’s not hard to find the generally agreed-upon definitions of the citrus scale’s levels. According to Fanlore, KnowYourMeme, and others, this is more or less the “official” citrus scale:

Orange: Light stuff, kissing, nothing below the waist or under the clothes. 

Lime: Groping, implied sex without details, fade-to-black, no intercourse or intimate contact.

Lemon: Sex, in full detailed glory. Woo-hoo! Regardless of the actual acts performed, if you can tell who had an orgasm (or, perhaps, had an orgasm denied), how, and where, it’s a lemon.

Grapefruit: We’ll get into this later.

But these tidy categories are clear thanks to the benefit of hindsight. In the Wild West of the early internet, it was not so easy to pin down exactly what you might be getting into based on which term was used.

At its origin, the citrus scale wasn’t a scale at all. It has its roots in hentai (and was always more popular in anime fandoms), stemming from a specific early hentai film by the title of Cream Lemon (1984). Hentai being what it is, this led to certain subculture communities referring to any story with explicit sexual content as a “Lemon.” And for a while, that was the extent of it. Then came fanfiction.net purging explicit content (2002), Livejournal suffering Strikethru (2007), and other events that pushed burgeoning fandom communities out of their growing hubs and back into smaller, isolated communities centered on a single fandom or pairing. In the relatively sparse early ’00’s internet, anybody could spin up an Angelfire website, pass the link around to their friends, and get a reasonable amount of traffic.  Websites devoted to the works of a single author or small group were common.

I mention this to describe the landscape in which fandom lexicons grew and evolved in the early-mid 2000s. Each pocket community had its own rules, lingo, and expectations; venturing outside of your home pocket could lead to some pretty major miscommunications. 

“Lemon” was established early and its definition has hardly shifted. It means that the labeled content (art, fic, mood board, etc.) includes sex. Intercourse, bumping uglies, etc. However, some yaoi fandom niches used it specifically to mean gay sex of the male variety. In some communities, “lime” developed as a corresponding term for feminine gay sex, while other communities brought it up with the usage that eventually “stuck,” “not quite a lemon.” Given that lemon and lime often go hand in hand when discussing actual flavors, the fact that we had some divergent term evolution is not surprising. But coming in from a different pocket of fandom and seeing “lime,” thinking you’ll be reading semi-softcore sexual tension and instead being confronted with graphic sapphic antics? Bit of a shock, I’m sure.

A more dramatic example is the rating level of “Grapefruit,” which occupies two completely different ends of the scale. In some circles, grapefruit was defined as “less intense than lime,” G or PG-rated stories that were more soft or cute than sexy. In other circles, it was used to mean the exact opposite. Kinkier than kink, smuttier than smut, grapefruit art and fic was where you went to have your eyebrows singed off. Some communities were even more specific, using grapefruit for stories featuring non-consensual sex. This was where darkfic lived – in modern day parlance, your “Dead Dove, Do Not Eat” works. To say that this usage difference caused some disagreements would be putting it mildly.

Nobody really worried about orange. Orange just existed, not bothering anybody.

When these terms were coined, the internet was not an assumed aspect of everybody’s daily life the way it is today. There was no Tumblr, no Facebook, no social media to speak of. There were no large repositories of internet lore and knowledge such as Urban Dictionary or KnowYourMeme. It was a playground. And what do you do on a playground? You make friends! The citrus scale, like so many fandom tropes and concepts, was defined by groups of friends that created them ad hoc to meet their own needs at the time. No one could have predicted that it would become so much a fandom history that it’d be enshrined, nor that I would be writing a blog post about it two decades later. From the common source of lemon, people extrapolated what the rest of the scale might look like, and there was no authority to tell them they were wrong. (Except other fans. That hasn’t changed.)

In conclusion, it’s best not to take the citrus scale too seriously. At best, it’s a cheeky way to avoid censors who try to bar a community from engaging with explicit works, but it’s also varied to a fault and open to interpretation. If you and your community have come up with a use for it that suits your needs, then congratulations: you’re part of a fandom tradition stretching back to the roots of the internet. Just don’t try and tell anybody else that they’re wrong. You might start a flame war.

some etiquette tips for quotev migrants

If you enjoy a post (piece of art, text post, writing, gifset, etc) interact however you would have on quotev!

Reblogging is like reposting an activity, but with a permanent link to op, and you can add your own thoughts in the tags or on the post itself. Very nifty. It's that little 🔄 symbol at the bottom.

Likes are a good short-form validation, and also a way to save posts so you can find them again later.

Comments are good for sharing your thoughts without having the post on your account for whatever reason.

Tags are optional, but useful for both organization and extra commentary that will stay on your blog (unless someone likes your tags. Then they may copy/screenshot and add to the post, or copy them in their own tags.)

if you trigger tag something, don't censor the trigger. That will only make it harder for people who have that tag blocked to avoid it.

"Copying is ok" rules for tags don't apply to art; art is to be reblogged, not copy-pasted, unless given permission from the artist. It's also polite to credit an artist if you use their art for a header/pfp, and/or ask beforehand!

That said, gifs are free game pretty much, since they have built-in credit to whoever uploaded them.

When posting images it's helpful to use the alt text feature to add a description, or add one in the body of the post below or above the picture, since A; it's helpful for those who use screen readers, and B; sometimes pictures don't load and the description is sometimes vital to tell what the heck's going on, screenreader or no.

Ask boxes are for things you don't mind being publicly viewed; messages are for private discussions.

Anonymous asks are optional, meaning some people may have them turned off. Anon hate is unfortunately common and many people opt to avoid it.

Block and report bots on sight. Report for spam/bot violations; even if they're an nsfw bot, reporting for sexual content won't do anything to get rid of them. Bots are pretty recognizable when you know what to look for, as their blog will either be blank/have a insta model pfp and generic URL, or...be full of untagged porn.

Bots come in waves; there'll be a lot at once, then they'll die off to a handful, then eventually come back. It's a neverending battle!

You can block tags to avoid seeing content you don't like. To do this you go into "account" in the settings menu, and type whatever you wanna block in the content filters section.

Turn on timestamps! That way you can know if info is outdated, or just in general have a time frame for when something was made.

Block rather than argue. You'll be happier in the long run. Hell, even if someone just kinda gets on your nerves or yucks your yum, but especially if it's serious, since reporting does next to nothing and arguing just won't change someone who's stuck in their ways, and it's not your job to fix everyone who's wrong. Block their account and if you want, block their name on the filtered content. Chances are they won't even know or care so don't worry that it's rude.

Ok I’ve regrouped and have more coherent thoughts about the tiktok ban.

So I know we love to dunk on tiktok on here. Honestly we like to dunk on anyone using any of the big three social media platforms. Tiktok users have algorithm brain rot that makes them use words like unalive irl. Anyone still using Twitter/X at this point is either a bot or a bigot. Facebook/Instagram is only used by your Millennial or older family members and should be avoided at all costs. Whatever.

But the facts are that these platforms are one of the primary ways that Americans communicate with each other and the international world. These platforms are no longer being used just for entertainment or socializing; we’re using them for business, we’re using them for politics.

I personally love that tumblr isn’t like that but it’s because what happens on this site has an incredibly low impact on the everyday American. But the things happening on tiktok, on Instagram, on Twitter/X have had huge effects on our lives, whether you’ve used those apps or not. And now all three of those companies have made it clear that they will defer to whatever the Trump administration wants. That should freak you out.

What happened today, tiktok’s cute little 12-24 hour period of going dark just so they could send a pro-Trump message to every single one of their 170 million American users, is horrifying. This company voluntarily (Biden wasn’t going to enforce the ban so there was no need to actually go dark) shut off a major form of communication for roughly a third of Americans just to perform a bit of political theater. And there was nothing we could do about it.

Could you imagine if Trump wanted all three of these platforms to do something like this at the same time? They wouldn’t even have to completely go dark, but to all censor the same topics at the same time? How catastrophic that would be for any sort of organizing? Sure we could figure out somewhere else to go eventually but what would happen in the short term?

Idk. I’ve enjoyed the memes and wasn’t really thinking the ban would affect me that much. But when I got that little propaganda message and I no longer had a means to figure out if everyone else was as weirded out as I was, it felt like a wake up call. Free and open social media, like it or not, is essential to protecting free speech in modern day America and we need to fight harder to protect it.

Eldergoth storytime!

Waaaay back in the day there was an older gentleman in our local goth club scene who made no attempt to disguise he was a sug*ar da*addy. (I'm censoring terms in hopes of avoiding bot spam.) His relationships generally lasted about a year, and the younger woman who dated him knew exactly what they were getting into. As far as any of us could tell, it wasn't predatory - he was up front about it. Was it still kind of weird? Yes, but I'd rather have someone like that around than the creepers and predatory "nice guys".

So anyway, one night at Ye Olde Spooky Club, his current girl bounced off the dance floor over to where a bunch of us were standing around drinking and gossiping. Mr. Moneybags pulled out his wallet, handed her a stack of bills, and told her to go buy all of us drinks. ("Make sure you get James to bring them over on a tray - you don't need to carry them!")

After she scampered off, he turned to me. "I'm sorry, Jilli. Here, tell Pete I said you should buy yourself something pretty", he said, tucking a $50 into my hatband. "Um", I said. "No, no, don't argue. You deserve a treat."

When I got home and told this story to Pete, he cracked up laughing.

Very weird night, but again, I'd much rather have someone who is clear about their preferences and intention than "nice guys".

SHINY headcanons:

Shiny has once wore braces before because one of the co-workers mistook his gap as a dental problem(even though he can’t physically grow teeth’s)

Shiny has bitten thunder too many times when they both fight each other which resulted him wearing a cone to avoid biting him again.

Just like in one of the concept art, shiny’s eyes changes colors when he’s in a mood.

Shiny has an excellent method to using his “puppy eyes” to actually win over people(this doesn’t work for creed that very much, but this work effectively to Thunder very much)

THUNDER headcanons:

Thunder hides a secret among the edf and no has ever found out, and the secrets were at morning(which were 1 or 3am)he would sneak out on top of the base just to watch a romance show/movie and maybe the toru inoue or Chiikawa show(that could explain why he’s always win over by shiny’s puppy eyes) can’t blame him for liking cute/romantic stuff

Since shiny has claustrophobia, Thunder hid a secret that he has thalassophobia because he fear he wouldn’t get saved in time

Thunder once got his body(except for his head)under a cat-like Kaiju and when shiny tried to help, thunder refused to get pulled out from under there since he finds it comfortable

When Thunder tries to swear, it would get bleep/censor because of a system that was put in him

Even though when thunder said “robots don’t have health symptoms” he suffers from fatigue and this is a problem to shiny having to save him a lot of times from getting swooped or damaged by a Kaiju because of his drowsiness

ALEX headcanons:

Alex has a figure of shiny and thunder being surrounded by magical girls, kajius, and other robot figures on the shelf in her room

In her room she has a box of plushies but squishy is the only plush on her which makes it her “special one”

(Astra included here) since Alex knows that Astra is a magical girl bot, this makes Astra accepted to the EDF just so that she could ask many questions to her.
