hi again!! i know i draw patty in a lot of casual clothes so i wanted to try and actually experiment with her costuming, and give her some actual devil hunter attire. enjoy :^D!!!!
below are some alternative versions + some notes on my design and thought process, if anyone's interested :^) !!!!
I had so much fun designing these outfits for her. I made a lot of alternative color versions, not all of them made it here. I designed 2 outfits and 3 hairstyles for her, as well as her guns. (note: this is mostly an exercise in character costuming)
----------------------------------------------------------------
Some things I wanted to keep in mind when designing (or rather, costuming) her was:
keeping in line with the general aesthetics of the DMC series + imagining my own take on an adult Patty, which we've only seen as a kid in the anime thus far.
I wanted her adult design to be chic, modern, and as practical as possible while still preserving a sense of fashion, and make her recognizably 'Patty'.
I didn't want to make her fashion too similar to how it appears in the show, since she's like 9-10 and for me it didn't make much sense for her to dress the same as she did when she was a kid haha
maintaining a limited palette of blacks, browns, pinks, and reds
adding my own personal style and tastes for fun :^)
this is such a little thing, but her voice cameo in dmc5 came off a little bit valleygirl-esque to me? very stereotypical teen girl, so I went with a very high femme aesthetic to try and match that energy a little bit.
for her guns: I wanted to ofc reference Dante & Trish with ther respective handguns. But I did take a few pages from Bayonetta's book and gave her little gun charms. (i do think if she were a playable character, she would have similar game play to V maybe?)
1st design (alt colors) :
For this take, I wanted something that was both chic and slightly grungy and more aligned with what the other devil hunter characters wear- lots of leather! Generally speaking, the dmc characters have rather limited palettes, so I didn't want to go overboard with my color choices. i dabbled a little bit with giving her pink accents, as we see her in pink a considerable amount in the show. I referenced Dante and Lady's designs a lot for this particular look, for things like the leather boots and jacket. I think this outfit is a little bit less practical, but I think it's a little bit more in line with the actual character designs of dmc5 in particular.
2nd design (alt colors) :
for this second look I wanted something a little bit more practical and refined. I took a lot of inspiration from other adult patty designs ive seen on here !! as well as more inspiration from her anime appearance for this look. I wanted something a little bit more gothic and "straight-edged", and I accidentally designed a very 70's two piece set, haha. Again, maintaining the same limited color palette as before. This design has a lot less accent colors and is a little bit more cohesive, tried to avoid making a bland design, which i hope was successful!
#devil may cry#dmc#patty lowell#my art#ive been working on this all day like actually#i made way too many combinations on accident#3 hairstyles and 2 outfits with a bunch of color variation#like. i got a little excited guys sorry#i want to try and drawing her with the rest of the crew again at some point for sure#i hope this isnt too ooc wahh#i know most of my dmc art has been of patty but shes not actually my fav character lolol#i just love designing and costuming so she felt like the perfect dmc character to experiment with#thanks for sticking by for so long yall#please excuse any typos it is almost 3 am lol

Is The Devil May Cry Netflix Show Really That Bad?
I watched the entirety of the DMC animated show (and I still insist on not calling it an "anime," as the anime premiered back in 2007, and actually fits inside the canon of Devil May Cry as a whole, after DMC5 completely canonized it.)
I watched it in good faith, as I believe in the sincerity of a good critique. My notes from each segment watched are here, from episode 1 through 3, and here from episode 4 through 6. There is no post with notes for the final episodes, as I was so tired and flabbergasted from watching that season finale was, that I couldn't type those to post.
However, in the following segment of this post, I will include my final notes, as well as my final thoughts regarding the show, fan reactions and some context regarding my own opinions. Will also try to include the basis of my opinions, with segments from the games and 2007 animated show.
Yes, there are spoilers ahead, but we already knew that!
1. The boring recap of the final two epsodes
(If you already know what happens, and don't want the extra commentary, you may skip to the next section.)
Episode 7 opens with Nelo Angelo giving his blood to the Rabbit. Let's put a pin on this for later!
Dante saved Mary and in return, she punched him, after having an awkward, "will they have a romantic connection later?" moment. The punch was overkill. They could've made her just not blush at all.
In this canon, the devil trigger is fed by rage and hatred, which implies that Dante's "makaian" (I still cannot get used to the term, and I'll keep thinking it's pretty silly) heritage is inherently negative, as those two emotions are perceived to be as such.
Magic, demonic power and such concepts are nonexistent in this Alternative Universe.
I kept a tally of the times Mary swears in the two episodes. It was 9, however, I did not count "shit" or "dickhead."
We see Mary try to face a group of demons by herself, and I believe it to be exclusively because she feels like receiving help from Dante is the end of the world. She is a seasoned federally funded demon hunter, she should definitely know better than to fight beings who are much powerful and resilient than her, even with all the equipment she had at hand.
Noting that Kalina Ann is just a military issue weapon, no customization or real meaningful connection to Mary. That is fine, I guess it comes with the fact that this is an interpretation of the DMC story.
Yes, as expected, she is defeated because she seems to "care" about Dante.
Chuck E. Cheese mentioned. What does this have to do with my friend Charles Entertainment Cheese?!
Hell is a homeland to Sparda. Did we forget already that Sparda is a baddie?
Mundus is a dictator btw, not Satan himself, just a political figure, cartoonishly affecting absolutely everyone in "Makai," indiscriminately
Dante bargains to selflessly help Mary, because yes, he is a good guy to a fault. Yes, seemingly Dante is a better person than all of us, because I would not give a fuck about a brutal cop who actively antagonized me.
This segment is a fight between cartoon Cavaliere Angelo and Dante. Since at this point we know that Rabbit created all the abomination-looking demons with mutations, there is no way that this particular demon did not come from Vergil's blood, as we know, all the angelos in the games are constructs based on him. And because mutated demons are created by DNA editing, the Rabbit would have needed Vergil's DNA to mutate a makaian into Cavaliere Angelo.
We cannot make sense of a lot, but that´s ok because Dante is cool!
Surprise! darkcom has been abusing power this whole time, and you have been murdering innocent people. She acts like she's surprised. I am sad for Lady, because Mary is completely ruining her good reputation. There is no way that people can sincerely like Mary, because right now, she is just plainly unlikable, irredeemable and corrupted. I guess that is ok because we all have tragic backstories and traumatic childhoods.
Vice President Wesker calls Lady an attack dog that needs to be brought to heel? Girl ok.
My next note says "the eventual romantic angle is shit." Yes, I agree with me from the time I wrote the note.
Also, the VP being a christian zealot is commentary. Like OK WE GET IT CHRISTIANS ARE BAD!!!
The Rabbit mutated to a behemoth, is rampaging but the anti-demon bullets cannot harm him still. OK all the basis of DNA and mutations stopped being logical as soon as we needed an extra tough guy. Let us also put a pin on this.
The fight with mutated Rabbit was borderline unwatchable, from how bad and stupid it became.
Oh, he seemingly killed Enzo, and Dante is rightfully upset. This actually checks with Dante, and one of the few instances where he is close to his canon personality.
Mary calls Dante the slur again, inviting him to team up. Let's just imagine how this would look if this was a real life scenario.
In this universe, Vergil did not disappear, Dante watched him die.
Mary besmirches the sanctity of "Jackpot" by uttering it herself. I was getting angry at this point.
WELL, they end up winning, and Dante invites her to come with him, in good faith. He still believes that this ruthles, racist cop is still a good person to team up with.
It seems like she has accepted, however... SURPRISE!!! SHE BETRAYS HIM IN THE WORST WAY POSSIBLE. Mary quite literally stabs him in the back.
The VP is an imperialist, and his god asks for a Holy War. A God, that judging the existence of Makai as a different world, does not exist, or at least is not as close to the thing they believe it to be.
The next note simply says "this shit is so ass bro..."
Operation Inferno starts! American Idiot plays! Because they think we are the idiots.
The US occupies and bombs the Middle East Makai! They are sacking their resources!
Final scenes include Dante being frozen in the timeskip chamber after Mary betrayed him.
OH VERGIL IS SHOWN! AND HE IS WORKING FOR KING MUNDUS!!!! What exactly did Mundus free him from? His own humanity?
MUNDUS IS ACTUALLY GOOD NOW!!! AND VERGIL IS VOLUNTARILY WORKING FOR HIM!! AND HE IS NOT FORCEFULLY TRANSFORMED INTO NELO ANGELO! IT'S ACTUALLY HIS DEVIL TRIGGER!!!!! AND YAMATO ALSO TRANSFORMS WITH HIM!!!!!!!!
Did we mention that Vergil IS THE STORM (that is approaching)?!?!?
2. Media insisting upon itself
One of the best expressions ever created to refer something that alleges to be earnest and profound, but in reality is pretentious, gaudy and self-absorbed. Used in Family Guy when Peter shares that he does not like The Godfather.
I truly believe this show insists upon itself, however, unlike what Lois refers to as "language of subtlety," the Devil May Cry Netflix series, is not even close to being fluent in it. They are Big in the fact that this is just an adaptation of the decades-long DMC lore, an adaptation of a beloved main character, an adaptation of a beloved deuteragonist, whose story in her first appearance, ends up being the true heart of the story. It is Lady, abandoning the name that her father gave her, realizing that "there are humans as evil as any devil, as well as kind and compassionate demons in this universe." She tells Dante that even a devil may cry when they lose a loved one.
We know this is just a one-in-a-million occurrence though. Demons are mostly evil, single-minded perverted souls that will not stop until everyone is dead. Demons and Hell, were always unequivocally forces of evil, and they manifest themselves in the human realm through sand, dust, electricity and even by possessing corpses. Majority of them are not in any way sentient, most of them don't have blood and they are magical beings. Only the high-level apparitions, like Phantom, Griffon, Echidna, Berial, etc., have the capacity to speak and rationalize. However, they are still hostile and single-minded in killing anything that comes in their way.
Some of these demons however, recognize the power of the player character and they offer their souls to their fight.
But no, in the Devil May Cry Netflix Show, the beings crossing through random tears in reality are NOT any of this. They are innocent beings, oppressed by a cartoonishly evil tyrant, polluting their ecosystem, pushing them to live in encampments, indirectly killing little children and ruining everyone's life.
They are humanoid, the main difference being that they have horns and they cover them with hoods or head wraps. Your thin veil for middle eastern peoples was too on the nose, Adi.
After episode 5 and 6, the show insists that you HAVE to feel bad for the makaians, because they are innocents, they are just immigrants to the human realm, looking a better life for themselves and their descendants. I think the allegory started allegorizing a little too much at this point.
The product wants you to believe it is good, because it showed refugees (makaians) might seem evil to us but they are actually not. However, they used literal evil, perverted and degenerate beings to be representations of the oppressed. The story tries to manipulate your emotions to convince you that, if you hate the makaians you are a bigot motherfucker yourself.
This is the way the show could probably get shooters to defend it. "You did not like it because it is commentary and gives visibility to the struggles and horrible experiences that refugees and immigrants go through."
Not really. I don't find political commentary from someone who attended the current US president's inauguration and addressed gratitude for the invitation publicly to be sincere or valid. His thoughts and feelings about the current humanitarian crises happening around the world, or in the past, become self-serving ways to appoint himself as a visionary.
(On a side note, that post has comments from 10 weeks ago, calling him a bootlicker, and other users stating that they thought him to be better than that)
3. The misunderstanding of Devil May Cry's characters
People who liked the show, (after seemingly turning their brains off, or being completely new to DMC) allege that people who did not enjoy the show are purists, stupid and want always the same. They call out nostalgia, and that somehow, naysayers are trying to gatekeep the story of an old, neglected franchise to keep the, in their opinion, "lackluster and shallow story" pristine.
Might be the case, only if Devil May Cry had a story that could be described with those two adjectives - Capcom has never worried to include much backstory in the games, but through almost 25 years of history, we know the overarching story of Devil May Cry, which has always been a battle between good and bad. Not a lot of people are morally grey in this universe, and there are no anti-heroes to be had. Red is red, Blue is blue.
However, I believe V might have come close to being a little grey, since he was always Vergil's humanity - at the end though, he accepts that all he wanted was to be cared for, and showed guilt for all the genocides he caused. BUT... He goes back to Urizen and unifies into the old asshole we've always known (and some loved.)
Shankar not only showed that he did not understand Vergil from the beginning, calling him an "anti-hero," but shows that he did not truly understand when he was watching the games cutscenes, if he even played the games at all.
Which of the characteristics of an anti-hero does Vergil possess? Maybe idealism for himself, in his constant selfish chase for power - morality for a few seconds when he teams up with Dante to kill the perversion of Sparda that Arkham had become. That does not redeem him, because he did not save anyone but himself. He had already killed hundreds, if not thousands of people when he brought Temen-Ni-Gru from the ground. We could allege that he was being manipulated by Arkham... But truly, he believed he would just rid of him at the end and keep the power for himself only.
That was just the sidebar. Vergil is not an anti hero, he is by all means a villain. Which takes me to the first pinned note: Vergil would NOT give his blood to the Rabbit for experimentation.
We understand that the Dante seen on the show is just Nero in disguise, the voice to the jokes - I was a prophetess when said before, that he would never say that. Never thought that my gift of clairvoyance referred to a your mom joke. No hate to Johnny, because he did a good job. However, he is already a character that is notorious and loved, so we cannot separate his voice from Nero. It was not until the final two episodes that I kind of stopped hearing Nero, but I heard no Dante though, that's for sure.
But the most egregious misunderstanding of a character, reputation assassination and pseudo empowering happened to Lady. To quote the guy himself:
Well, he did NONE of this. He conveniently changed Lady's story to turn her into a character that only shares name and appearance with her. Arkham (father) was a cowardly bitch whose only resort was to turn into a demon after one single attack in which he was paralyzed in fear, he killed Kalina over seemingly nothing (because there is no priestess blood in this universe,) and then Mary burned him alive. I guess? He might come back for some reason, who knows.
I saw some opinions regarding her character on twitter, and one went something like "well she is better in the show because she's had about 2 seconds of dialogue in the games after 3," and when I know and agree that the women in Devil May Cry suffer from under-usage and poor writing, Lady's CANON story and personality are much better than the slop presented in the show.
I don't know what exactly they were attempting to accomplish, either she is a tough, strong, independent girlboss type, or she is being made into an example that even women can be shitty. Whichever of these options is the right one, both are tired, little strategies to attempt at making a deep, interesting character that fall really flat.
📌Among the nonsensical things within the show, what stood the most to me, as a biologist, is the fact that the demons we see are created through "nazi experimentation" (as told by Lady Mary.) All demons are forcefully mutated into more bizarre, warped beings with science, and Rabbit himself figured out a way to keep himself alive with consuming demon makaian blood. At the end of the season, Rabbit himself unmasks and shows that he is an abomination himself, and chugs the blood out a demon. It kind of reminded me when in Dragon Age 2, the First Enchanter Orsino transformed himself into a rampaging demonic abomination.
The problem here, was that the anti-demon bullets were NOT working on the guy, despite having MUTATED completely into a demon. His body was pumped full with blood, and he also CONSUMED the blood of a demon - these bullets worked on Dante, who is naturally human. But they did not work in a guy who committed to the demon bit in a last attempt to fight.
Did anyone care for continuity or scientific rationale?📌
4. Fan nostalgia and Elitism among fans
While every piece of content is sometimes up to the consumer's interpretation, there are some things that are intentionally misrepresented and misinterpreted by fandom, inevitably. Lately (and I am referring probably around the time DMC5 was announced) the Devil May Cry fandom has chosen to comply with a fanon interpretation of Dante which might be annoying to some of us. Yes, 40-something-year-old Dante is a kissless virgin, who loves pizza, jokes and strawberry sundaes. He has never felt the touch of another human being, and is incapable for being sexual.
Where the fuck did this come from? I theorize that it is from the fandom filling the void of almost a decade without any content of the mainline Devil May Cry games.
I have been part of this fandom longer than Tumblr has been around, from the time where forums were the only way to communicate with other fans, and it was probably never like this - I do not remember at what point in time Dante was flanderized into what some sector of the fandom considers him to be. And I am bringing this up, because Shankar seems to have liked this interpretation of Dante, and put him on the screen - also the fact that the amulet in the cartoon is the amulet from DmC, so he was definitely highly inspire to attempt to splice those two Dantes-but-not-really-Dante into one for his visionary work.
This tweet expresses just how I feel regarding the complete bastardization of Dante's character by a sector of the fandom:
Eventually, some will start to roll with it, because they believe it is a funny way to engage with content of a video game series that has been criminally neglected by Capcom, however, the creators in charge of producing actual, real, canon content for the game would pick it up and think it works.
This is kind of what happened with the DMC cartoon. Shankar believes that DMC is cringe, Dante is a little meme guy and that he is all laughs, pizza and crazy stunts.
Thank god that he is not in charge of making any real canon content for DMC because he did not understand absolutely any of the characters, their world, or the fandom.
We are not wrong for engaging with this content for a few laughs, and also not wrong for thinking of it as lowbrow and erroneous.
When DmC: Devil May Cry was announced, I was a teenager, creating fan content online. The announcement came out as a true surprise, as we had absolutely no content, not even a special edition to the successful DMC4... When I watched the trailer, I did it with an open mind, and I felt somehow alienated and, at times, ignorant for not absolutely hating it.
It's not my fault for liking edgelord shit!!!
I did not stop liking it, or treating it as a true, deserving entry in the DMC history - the story was OK, the character, enemy and world designs were very good, and one of the most important aspects, the gameplay was great. It was fun to play. The music was fucking great, both the original soundtrack, and the Combichrist songs that somehow perfectly fit the narrative of the game - and I am getting to the point here, which is that I always keep an open mind to the new things presented when it's Devil May Cry, because I want to give them a fair chance, maybe they would not be bad.
DmC, as I remember, was almost universally hated among the fandom. Years went by, and DMC4SE was announced, which was a glimmer of hope for the continuation of the franchise. I spent hours upon hours promoting the release, sharing gifs, links and screencaps to help sell the damn game, because we all knew that it was testing the waters, checking if there was still interest in Dante and DMC.
It was to NOT my surprise, that when DMC5 was announced, so many things from DmC were reused. Especially Nero's new edgy look. What a great moment for me.
But anyway...
Many people believe that the DMC fandom is overreacting to the shitshow that the show is. Some believe that having a mid product is better than letting DMC collect dust. That the most recent game was released too long ago, and content is needed - it was only five years ago. Like that's too long... Maybe to other fandoms, but time works different if you are a fan of Devil May Cry.
We don't dislike and rebuke the poor invention of Adi's because of nostalgia goggles. We hate it because it's tired, insincere, self-serving, and a poor interpretation of characters who are well known and loved. It is also a work that reinvents real-life oppressed peoples as "demons," as if they were not the victim of such slander in the real world already. It is not commentary, it is opportunism.
It also insists upon itself.
I have observed people using their fan card to defend the show - "I have been a fan since--" type of arguments. One Twitter user posted themselves laying surrounded by their Devil May Cry merch to reply to a tweet where someone called them out regarding the show. I don't believe in civil fandom war, but believing yourself to be above everyone because of the money or time you've spent on something is truly below adult conversations.
I have been hit with "pick-me opinion" simply because I am a woman. My tweets get replies which infer that the people engaging with them think of me as a man, despite my girly looking profile.
I have been a fan of these games for almost as long as I've been alive, and I am pushing 30. I have been posting on forums, this site and twitter since I got internet access in my early teens. I do not believe my opinion to be above anyone's, I just think that an informed, impartial opinion is better than anything. And I already tried to engage with the content in good faith.
And in good faith, I can say that the Devil May Cry show on Netflix is shit.
Read the plot on Wikipedia.

A timeline of the evolution of my relationship with Vergil von Devil May Cry (for fun):
1) Played DMC 1 back in like 2015. Felt bad for the guy, but did not have a lot of context
2) Played DMC 2 back in like 2015. This has nothing to do with Vergil I just want everyone to understand that I have suffered
3) Played DMC 3 back in 2015. Thought “wow that guy kinda sucks” and moved on with my life
4) Browsed the internet for Dante fan art circa 2015. Accidentally saved a bunch of Nero fan art because he looks exactly like Dante and I hadn’t played DMC4 yet so I had no idea who he was. Researched Nero after I realized. At this point there was technically no official confirmation that Nero was Vergil’s son, but that was what the fandom seemed to have settled on. Thought “wow how did that dweeb loser manage to get laid?” and moved on with my life
5) DMC4SE came out in 2015. Played ten minutes but my terrible laptop couldn’t handle it. Vowed to get back to it when I got a better computer
6) The date is now October 2024. I finally got back to it. Laughed at the irony of Vergil having a son that acts just like Dante, but otherwise opinion didn’t change
7) Still October 2024. Played DMC5. Thought “wow this guy still kinda sucks”, but slightly more fondly. I am happy to see him and Dante getting along in the end. Still questioning how his -10,000 rizz self got a lady to like him for long enough to make a child
8) November 2024. Discover the Vergil Meme Economy. Find myself entertained by him immensely despite still thinking he’s a loser dweeb virgin
9) All of this happens basically in November from here on out. Resign myself to the DMC hyperfixation. Choose to replay DMC3. As I am replaying, notice that Vergil is much more like Dante than he lets on. Curiosity piqued
10) Finally listen to Bury the Light. Oh my god it’s an exploration of Vergil’s mindset and trauma. Also, total banger. Listen to it so many times YouTube gave me a badge for it (this is not a joke here’s the proof)

11) Rewatch the Arkham fight cutscenes a couple of times on YouTube. Someone in the comments notes that Vergil does a little grin just before he and Dante say “Jackpot”. Rewatch, confirm. Oh no. I have just realized that Vergil is a tsundere. Likability stonks rising rapidly
12) The evidence is piling up. I’m noticing more and more little things that endear him to me. I am now in my “I hate Vergil” *covers the walls with pictures of Vergil* era
13) Read Visions of V. The five stages of grief are not a straight line, but we have finally arrived at acceptance. I admit that I just like Vergil now
All in all I still don’t think he’s a likable character. He has the demeanor and temperament of a wet cat. If you offered to let me give him a swirly I probably would. However, he is a compelling character, and in this instance that’s arguably better than being straight up likable. It feels like I went on a little adventure picking apart all of his history and quirks and idiosyncrasies
Honestly I love that the community is so passionate about this series in general and Vergil specifically. I was like five years late to the party, but it was still fun exploring both new and old commentary on the games/Vergil’s character, and just seeing all the love and the excitement and the joy about it

wondering about the witchlings again….! how fleshed out individually are they in your mind? like their names, appearances, personalities, magic, etc? were/are you friends with their families?
you ask the best questions aldjfalksdfjlk thank you so much for thinking of the good stuff always <3333333
they are all pretty fleshed out in my mind actually! there are 8 of them ranging from age in 5-13, they're all girls who were truly orphaned and had no other family to go to after the events of dmc5 and, oddly, my immediate reaction wasn't "omg we will take them and figure it out as we go" when told hey all these girls have nobody now but it was dante's immediate reaction. he was like alright, cool, load them up.
also i feel like i haven't mentioned it yet but patty lowell helps me with the girls. i offer it to her as a job and pay her but really offer it bc i think it would be good for them and her both to have each other so she just hangs out at the boarding house and stays the night occasionally. they invent a rumor about her being dante and i's secret daughter we dont wanna reveal the identity of and we play along until we're like okay let's discuss this considering we are all a found family here....let's not other anybody....
i'll go into them a little more under the cut...my girls.....starting with the oldest and going to the youngest....
katie, 13 years old, spatial magic - can create small rifts through time to move within short distances but is incapable of maintaining full portals. she's very quiet, meticulous, and feels a bit weird amongst the little ones who definitely see her as their big sister. enjoys reading, sitting outside, and taking walks with dante because his solo walks always become group walks through the woods around the property where we live. mother goose and his gaggle...
2. hallie, 11 years old, alchemical magic - very stereotypical girly girl and likes to use her magic to make nail polish. idk why. i asked and she was just like heheehe i dunnnoooo i wanted to and ykw who am i to question a queen doing queen shit. loves to read and tries very hard to make spaces for katie to feel comfortable in so they can read together.
3. alexis, 11 years old, illusion magic - all girl. doesn't like bugs or frogs or outside or really even the various familiars that are dragged into the house. the younger girls try really hard to make her like them though and will like introduce her to each of them and she is like tensely smiling the entire time bc she's also very polite. a good girl. illusion magic isn't strong but she can make things look slightly different from their original appearance which can be very disorienting.
4. isabella, 9 years old, temperature magic - miss diva supreme-a. she's a bit of a natural leader and will even roll over the older girls if they don't stay out of her way. she's really sweet but is bossy and likes to be the Drama. can make hot things hotter, cold things colder but cannot make cold things hot and hot things cold. going to have to work through some of those diva tendencies with her though.
5. elizabeth, 8 years old, life magic - we're kind of scared of her ngl because SHE can put life into inanimate objects. it's not very strong and we frankly don't think it's going to be a problem but we are like okay so here's why we don't bring the scary doll to life. here's why there doesn't need to be a tree monster. she's sweet though, she only uses her power to make other people smile even if she feels a little wicked. dante told her every time she feels like using her power for bad to come talk to him bc we used to battle with some urges in her to like be a little mean but now they talk it out. she's good.
6. madison, 7 years old, creation magic - biological sister of gracie, our youngest. can create new objects out of discarded items like trash but they cannot be living objects. creates a lot of toys out of just anything. they started bringing her random stuff to make into something else and now she has a weekly magic show we invite everyone to.
7. lily, 6 years old, healing magic - a straight forward healer, she lays on hands and restores life force. she's smart and means business, a little intense but we are working with her on it. she has some pretty serious abandonment issues from the whole situation so we just try to be gentle and patient and remind her we are always here.
8. gracie, 5 years old, we don't know yet magic - she's baby. no magic yet, just baby. she and madison are biological sisters so we're working under the assumption their magic will be similar once she starts showing acumen but until then, she's just baby gracie. which is what dante calls her and she pouuuuts. im not a baby! im NOT a baby! stomping her little foot and he says oh but you're acting like one baby gracieeeeee and she's like dad stop it bc she calls him dad at least once a day. she's clever, sweet, and attached.

Similar to your ask, please explain everything about Vergil, because I have never played DMC!
(I get the feeling that we’re both going to be writing for a while! 😆)
Erin ( @multiversal-selfshipper )
@sev3n-trials @multiversal-selfshipper
gonna be answering these together since they're similar!! thank you two for the asks :3 i'll try to keep it short but it's still quite a bit
Vergil is the son of a human mother and a demon father! his mom was from what i know just a random woman but his dad was the demon who essentially saved humanity by separating the human and demon worlds, though he became more of a legend with time and most people think it's just made up. Vergie also has his twin brother Dante who i also love very much /p
Dante and Vergil grew up relatively normally and i heard they might have not even been aware that they're half demon? someone said it was stated in one of the novels but i haven't read the one they were referring to in a while so idk, maybe they knew. their home was eventually attacked by demons sent by Mundus because the demons hate Sparda for being a traitor. Not sure if Sparda died in this attack or if he was dead before, but both of them lost their mom in the attack which left both of them as orphans. Vergil had a fight with Dante right before this and was a bit farther away from their home, and since noone came to help him when he was nearly killed by demons 8 year old Vergil just assumed he was left on purpose because he already felt like their mom preferred Dante
he spent his life after that essentially isolating himself and searching for more power to protect himself. he also blames himself a lot for not being able to save their mom. at some point when he was 18 he had a child with an unknown woman but i doubt it was a serious relationship because they couldn't have seen each other for more than a year
after dmc3 he ends up going to the demon world and tried to defeat Mundus. Vergil just lost a fight with Dante and stood absolutely no chance because of this so he got his ass kicked. i do see this scene as some kind of suicide by proxy because he knew he couldn't win and still went ahead and did it. he also threw away the sheath of his katana right before attacking which i heard some do when they know they won't win their next fight. he's also mentally ill so
yeah he got his ass kicked and ended up tortured brainwashed and in slavery for 9 years which he barely survived. after that he spent a couple of years trying to get his katana back which he lost trying to fight mundus. he then used it to physically separate his demon and human half into two different people because he really really couldn't stand his human side for being so weak and emotional. the two ended up coming together again and everything his human side had to go through during the plot of dmc5 was essentially really weird therapy for Vergil which led to him accepting himself and realizing just how much he threw away doing what he did. he also became noticeably softer and nicer i think :3 he also met his son Nero who he obviously loves very much

I realized I might've zoned out while watching the Netflix DMC anime now that I've seen things people are pointing out.
if you care about spoilers, ignore this post.
TL;DR, I don't mind the anime. it's tolerable imo
1. the war against the underworld being a 9/11 war terror allegory with American Idiot playing in the final episode is certainly a choice, sure. it'd be better if it was more subtle with it but hell if I know. I'm not a mega fan or a critic. I'm more casual and take things for what it's worth.
2. Lady saying "fuck" constantly is something I forgot, surprisingly. I don't even know how. I think it's because of me ignoring her existence in the anime altogether.
3. I don't mind the music choices except for Devil Trigger and Crimson Cloud. those are dedicated to characters that aren't even in the anime, Nero and V. most of the tracks are from DMC5 which is a bit disappointing. both Devils Never Cry and Bury the Light having more softer covers is also a let down, honestly, since those are the songs that hype you up.
4. Nelo Angelo's design is the only one I have a problem with. Though, I'm mainly being nit-picky about it. he looks like any other anime character with armor. if the helmet covered his entire face, changed the horns, and kept the eyes it would've looked somewhat better.
5. the voice acting is fine. Johnny Yong Bosch is really great at being Dante! it's not the first time he voiced a character that has some sort of demonic form (Nero and Ichigo). Vergil's voice is also fine. he doesn't sound like he's sick all the time but apparently that's what people prefer.
6. I'm sure seeing stuff from DMC2 being adapted is a surprise for many since it's the most hated of the games excluding the reboot. wonder how it'll play out in season 2. I personally enjoyed playing DMC2 after struggling to figure out everything in the first game (skill issue, I know). I'm a casual player when it comes to playing video games. usually why I rarely play competitive games, I want to enjoy the experience and not be a try-hard about it.
overall, this is way better than seeing the Netflix version of Devilman. I never seen what they did with Castlevania but I heard it's also pretty bad.
give the 2007 anime a watch if you didn't like the Netflix one. I'm sure you'll enjoy it despite it being somewhat outdated.
#random post#this post is longer than usual whoops#if this looks disorganized then i'm sorry#devil may cry#dmc#netflix devil may cry#netflix dmc

SILLY GOD DISCO ~✨ Be Crazy For Me ✨ ~A Nightclub-inspired playlist ~
An EDM playlist for recreating that tense, exciting atmosphere at nightclubs. I'm super introverted and hate crowded places, so nightclubs are a no-go for me. And yet I adore the fast-paced songs played in nightclubs xD
This idea was inspired from an underrated gem of an anime called Paripi Koumei (Ya Boy Kongming!). In which they described how clubs usually start with low BPM songs then gradually ease into higher BPM songs throughout the night. I love my ballads but I think the "high" you can get from listening to EDM and metal can be attributed to BPM.
Title taken from the GazettE song, SILLY GOD DISCO.
EIKO starring 96貓 (96Neko) - Be Crazy for Me
I had the same reaction as Koumei when I first listened to this song xD I was amazed by Eiko's vocals and this song makes for a great opener and introduction of Eiko, it just blows you away. Eiko herself being a real 'diamond in the rough', you can't help but be crazy for her!
2. Yakuza 6 OST - Theory of Beauty
Composed by Saori Yoshida, the BPM of this song gives me such a high xD But the slower 'cooldown' parts of the song with piano and guitar make this song god-tier. I consider it canon that Joon-Gi Han definitely had this song blasting on the speakers when fighting Kiryu at Club Stardust.
3. UuultraC OST - uprise!!! (vocals by 川名唯 Kawana Yui)
ED1 of ADELTA's kaiju boyfriend (yes really) game UuultraC. It gives me such good vibes and as a commenter said it's 'jubilant'. It makes a perfect theme song to the relationship between Shoutarou and Kozuka in the game. I also just have to say that Shoutarou is an absolute cinnamon roll and Kozuka is such an affectionate boyfriend.
ADELTA? Sounds familiar? None other than the creator of Hashihime of the Old Book Town! (a game by which is not perfect yet one I still recommend to BL lovers everywhere - it's especially impressive considering ADELTA is virtually a one-man developer team).
4. Yakuza Kiwami 2 OST - Clan Battle
Composed by either Hidenori Shoji/Yuri Fukuda/Chihiro Aoki/Saori Yoshida, the bopping-fantastic theme to the Clan Creator mini-game in Yakuza Kiwami 2. It was such a bop that it got my little brother to finish the entire Clan Creator sidequest. He's always liked those strategic games...I on the other hand prefer beating the shit out of goons. xD
5. Manuel - GAS GAS GAS
One of the many addicting songs featured in Initial D. It just makes me want to step on the GAS GAS GAS xD
6. m.o.e.v - Gravity
The 'they didn't have to go this hard yet they still did' insert song in the Inital D parody scene from Lucky Star. I have never watched an episode of Initial D but drifting to eurobeat just screams cool. My dad used to have the whole manga collection sitting on his bookshelf, maybe another day I'll give Initial D a try.
7. GOATBED - Masculine Devil
The ED song to Trash and Garbag-*cough* Virus and Trip's ending in DRAMAtical Murder. I lovingly hate the two xD GOATBED did such a great job on the OST and it really helps build the science fiction-atmosphere of the game.
Also Masculine Devil is just such a cool song name, I also find it a fitting name for a perfume. Maybe one of these days Nitro+chiral will release a perfume line based on their games...
8. GOATBED - Ai Catch
The opening song to DRAMAtical Murder. Because somebody left a gold nugget of a comment I'm just going to leave it here:
Me too, me too.
9. Casey Edwards - Devil Trigger
It's been almost 2 years since I last played DMC5 and this song is still so damn earworm-y. Casey Edwards did such a good job on composing such a banger song and of course I recommend his other songs like Bury the Light, Fire Inside, and Vacant Surrender.
10. Rosa Walton - I Really Want To Stay At Your House (80s Remix by Levi Doron)
An absolutely lovely remix of the soul-crushing insert song from Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. While the original song had a sense of melancholy, this remix just sounds like happier times.
A great closer to one night at the nightclub just hanging out with friends if you ask me.
#music#my playlist#paripi koumei#ya boy kongming!#yakuza#uuultrac#initial d#lucky star#nitrochiral#dramatical murder#devil may cry#cyberpunk edgerunners#please watch Ya Boy Kongming! and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners#they're both great shows in their own way

2, 3, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, 14, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, and 26 (My question is just say something about them you want to say)
For whichever character/characters your want
woweee this is gonna be a looooong post
2-Favourite thing about this character
Doing this for Dante. The Dr Faust cutscene, or to be more broad I love his silly attitude and his stupid jokes. Made this series iconic and funny and gives him a personality.
3-Least favourite thing about this character
For Dante this would probably be the ‘if you were 18 i would date you’ joke from the first episode of the anime. This really rubbed me the wrong way and its kinda weird to say that to a kid you just met???and ooc for him???
7-Whats something the fandom does when it comes to this character you like?
Actually give the girl characters time to shine instead of just making them sexy eye candy. And the silly family dynamics between the Sparda boys.
8-Whats something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you despise?
the fucking Vergil dodges child support and is a ‘sigma based alpha male’ homophobe. i hate it so muchhh even though the meme is dead it still annoys me so much when i see people still think its funny.
9-Could you be roommates with this character?
I probably could be roomies with people like Dante and Nero and Kyrie. Id probably get a little annoyed at Dante for constantly being in debt and gambling but we could survive. Do not think I could be roommates with Vergil. that man does not know how the oven works.
10-Would you date this character?
fuck yeah I would date Dante.
12-What's a headcanon you have for this character?
Nico is the kind of person who drenches everything in ranch. She buys the ranch ice cream a lot and it makes Nero loose his shit every single time. She drowns her chips in ranch and Nero looks at her from across the table like shes murdered someone
14-Assign a fashion aesthetic to this character.
Hrngh fuck im not a fashion person. Do kinda see Trish getting into gothic fashion tho.
20-Which other character is the ideal best friend for this character, the amount of screentime they share doesn't matter?
Nero and Nico are the perfect best friends duo. Always got each others backs, always making fun of each other lightheartedly. I want more of them sooo badly you have no idea.
21-If you're a fic writer and have written for this character, what's your favorite thing to do when you're writing for this character? What's something you don't like?
its been decades since I have last written anything in general. But I do remember Dante’s dialogue being fun to write for me and I dont like everything else because im constantly worrying if something is ooc
22-If you're a fic reader, what's something you like in fics when it comes to this character? Something you don't like?
Its been decades since ive read any dmc fic either (get caught up in other things) but as mentioned earlier do love those family dynamics and the attempts to fix everything. Dont like when Vergil os portrayed as ice cold after dmc5.
23-Favorite picture of this character?
FUCK THIS IS SO HARD. I do love the capcom cafe art with dante and his tits out. the teppen card art is also pretty cool.
24- What other character from another fandom of yours that reminds you of them?
So considering the only other fandom I am in is about depressed teenagers trying to overcome their trauma its safe to say none. I guess Kel somewhat for Dante? Only cause theyre silly and have older brothers who like blue.
25-What was your first impression of this character? How about now?
When I first saw V back when I knew absolutely nothing about dmc, I thought he was edgy and didnt really like him (the video used the ‘what evil lurks I must destroy’ clip out of context). But now that I have played and beaten the series I must say V my poor guy hes an absolute menace.
26-FREEBIE QUESTION!!
no idea what this means!!!!!so im just gonna make up a question!!!!
26-Would you work for this character?
ABSOLUTELY NOT DANTE HAS NO BREAD!!!! and the job is like. insanely dangerous and im just an internet guy.

METROID DREAD (2019)
Platform: Nintendo Switch Status: 100% finished Rating: 9/10 Recommend?: HECK YEAH!

My history with Metroid Dread was somehow… Complicated. I found out there is a demo for the game as soon as I got the switch in the summer of 2022. Naturally, I finally could get a taste of the Metroid franchise, so I downloaded it, tried it out… and found out this isn’t a game for me unfortunately…
But then, in the fall of 2023, OUT OF NOWHERE Metroid Dread crept into my mind, without any previous trigger, and I was like “Damn… I would love to play that game… I should try the demo out…” and I kept telling this to myself for like two weeks until I sat down, downloaded it again and fell in love with the game instantly.
And how do I rank the game after I got it, sat down and obtained 100% completion on my save? Here’s my thoughts.
1) STORY
As stated before, this was my first Metroid game ever.
I have no idea what is going on in the series, so starting with the fourth main entry basically, might be a bit misleading, but I felt like I was catching on to everything the game was throwing at me storywise.
The initial premise is fairly simple.
Samus is called on an isolated planet called ZDR, where she needs to investigate a race of mimic creatures known as X. Naturally, things go south fairly quickly. We are captured by some boss creature, beaten to a pulp and stripped of all upgrades and we start our journey on ZDR as the most barebones version of Samus Aran.
The story unfolds slowly and very atmospherically I’d say, but the pacing is well spaced throughout the game. Everything builds up to the final reveal and like… I am sorry, I have to put a
BEWARE SPOILERS! LIKE… HUGE SPOILERS BEYOND THIS POINT!
notice here… But I was blown by it! If anyone would tell me something is able to put out a similar plot twist to the first Bioshock and succeed in it, in 2021, I wouldn’t believe it! My brother told me that similarly to DMC5, a lot of the plot of Dread was guessed by the community even before the game was released, but IDC. I was still blown by it.

END OF SPOILER SEGMENT.
- - -
2) GAMEPLAY
Before Dread I played only bits of Hollow Knight and Blasphemous in terms of other Metroidvanias.
Gameplay-wise, Metroid Dread is one of the most satisfying games I ever played. Samus controls amazingly well. As you unlock the different skills to traverse the map, even the boss fights become much more fun. Out-jumping Chozo Soldiers was a deliberate fun.

The movement through ZDR, through jumps, space-jumps, morph-balling and slides is amazing, it’s swift and very responsive.
Only gripe I have is with the shinespark puzzles.
That shit made me sweat bricks. I literally was going through a phase when I wanted to grab the whole switch and toss it out of the window.
WHO MADE THE INPUTS NECESSARY FOR SOME OF THEM???
As for combat, you basically have a shoot, a missile, and a bomb and they improve through upgrades throughout the game so they deal more damage, can have bursts, piercing powers etc.
Its fun that you always have something that keeps you in the “ooooh, something new and shiny :3” mindset.
- - -
3) LOCATIONS
As for locations, the map is divided into 8 mini-maps that you will be running between.
What will aid you on your travels are certain fast travel points, be it some train, elevator, or teleporters. You are unlocking shortcuts and reaching new parts of the maps like this all throughout the game. So the fact you reach a new minimap doesn’t mean you will get to explore its entirety in one go.
And that’s what makes it fresh the whole time. You don't spend so much time in one place that you would get bored by it.
And you also reach some very pretty scenic views later in the game.

But to be honest… The train locations were always my most favorite :3
- - -
4) BOSSES
Metroid Dread has around 30 bosses. That’s even counting E.M.M.I’s and the final boss. I think there was only one which I really had problems with, which was the Experiment no Z-57.
I have no idea how much time I spent on that bitch, but I was ripping out my hair during the process.
I couldn’t for the love of god learn its patterns. And it’s in a part of the game where the progress through him is mandatory. You basically HAVE TO get through this roadblock, or go F yourself.
Other than that? E.M.M.I’s will probably be one of my most favorite and most hated encounters in gaming, period.
Their indestructibility makes them deadly predators and a regular threat. It kind of reminded me of the Tyrants from the Resident Evil series.
But I felt much more dread from having to outrun these f*ckers.
The fact that if they catch you, you are done for makes them much more scary. And when you then have to obtain the Omega blaster to kill them finally, and still have to first blow off their shield with the gatling gun and only then kill them with a beam that needs to be charged while those huge robots slowly approach you?
I was sweating more than during any of the soulsborne bosses.
But they can also be annoying.
Many times when I couldn’t outrun them, or I was hiding on the ceiling with my camouflage on and they still catched me, I Exploded into angry mode.
The cherry on top then is the final boss, Raven Beak. My sorry ass was pretty much indented into the floor by him. I had to retreat and go level up a bit by obtaining more health and firepower as I reached his second phase out of rockets and was pretty much fucked at that point.
Once I obtained my 100% on the whole map, I came back and wiped the floor with him. And I had so much fun learning to outrun all his attacks and properly get my revenge on him.
Also, a small thing I was giggling at the whole time was that I was imagining how he beat me over few cycles, to his amusement and then Samus just didn’t return, and he put up some tracking device and was watching in fear how she collects every single upgrade there is for her, before finally reaching the bossroom with the attitude of a mother that comes to your room after you unwantedly slammed the door shut after your argument.
And she delivered equally devastating beating of Raven Beak’s ass :>
- - -
5) AUDIO
This unfortunately isn’t a field where I could talk about much in most of my reviews, period.
I very rarely notice sound design or soundtracks during my playthroughs. I can only say that the sound design of weapons and soldiers is amazing here.
It’s a Nintendo game so brace yourself for not a lot of Voice acting, and when there is some, it’s in a made up language.
The voice acting in the made up language sounds amazing tho. I didn’t mind it there.
As for soundtracks… Each track that is designated to a boss or a place perfectly captures the essence of the place. It either makes you chill out, or sweat bricks, depending on the place you are at and the time you are there at.
One track in particular stands out tho and Iove every second of it. And that’s the Theme of Samus Aran. It’s so damn epic. I can't help but love it. It gives you the feeling you WILL deal with someone who is undeniably badass. And TBH?
That delivers.
- - -
6) LEWD AND WAIFU POTENTIAL?
Which brings me to my next point. I can FINALLY properly SIMP over Samus in this part of the review, so brace yourselves.
*Deep breath*
WHY DID NO ONE EVER TELL ME, THAT SAMUS ARAN IS LIKE THE SINGLE ONE MOST BADASS PERSON IN VIDEOGAME HISTORY??? I mean it. I instantly fell in love with her through the very stoic but in-depth body language that they gave her. Every emotion of hers is so well portrayed, given that the most you see of her are her eyes. Most of the times during the cutscenes where she is about to finish some boss, she just silently walks around it, charging her cannon and I absolutely love every single second of it. I am pretty much the epitome of the Scared Cacadou meme!
(Just a side note I didn’t know where to put it. I absolutely love how they were able to portray her having fear in her eyes. The Fact this is a fairly stylised game, with restricted amount of animation in it, and they still were able to show this emotion so well, shows just how much care was put into this game)
If ANYONE would try to tell me that Doomslayer is her son, I’d FUCKIN BELIEVE THAT! He just one day was like “One day I will be as badass as mommy! :3” and he delivered. And when I brushed over this theme, yes...
Samus Aran is a mommy.
100%. Both in the “Step on me mommy” kinda way and the way where if Nintendo would make her tell you during the gameplay, that you played for too long and you should turn it off or it will have consequences, you WILL turn the game off and go to bed like a good boy... even if it would be just 2PM!
During one of the finish animations, I even compared her to the mother that asks you how was your day at school, and during you telling her that it was fairly calm, she just waits with the wooden spoon in her hand, because she already got the call from the school that you broke a door on the toilets, headshot your classmate with a wet sponge and during the class ignited the classroom plant, and she’s just waiting for you to stop talking so she can wreck your bratty ass.
She just radiates authority. To be fair, she radiates so much power and authority that you basically feel like you have to be worthy of seeing her nudes on the infamous R34…
That might, or might not be part of the reason why I 100% completed the game…
To gain mommy’s approval…
Might, or might not. Maybe it was just so much fun to play.
- - -
7) SUMMARY?
Metroid Dread is an absolutely masterful game that was a fresh surprise.
I enjoyed my time with the game, stormed through it in like 3-4 days and it probably is a game that will stay with me for the rest of days. It’s one of those that you just remember having fun with. Even though I wasn’t a fan of the white armor Samus has in this title in the first place, it kinda grew on me.
And if I would get a nickel every time a well known design got white elements embedded into itself and I didnt like it at first, but then it grew onto me, I would have two nickels.
Which Isn’t much, but it’s weird that it happened twice. The second time was with Insomniac’s Spider-Man.
So, would I recommend the game?
Yes. I give it 9/10.
The performance on Switch is phenomenal. The story was captivating and the gameplay here just shines. It has been a long time since I played a game that was just so much fun to chew through. If you are a proud owner of Nintendo Switch, this for sure is a gem that shouldn’t go under your radar…

yup get ready for another fixation XD
So thanks to my boyfriend, @mon12key2312, I started getting into Devil may cry. WEEELLLLL I played DMC5 while tipsy and here's my first impressions XD there's a couple spoilers of the beginning 6(?) missions and of enemies and a LOT of me saying "Fuck" so if you haven't played before like I had, discretion is advised.
1.) why the fuck are the common demons bugs? 2.) why does the "hive" loo- oooooooh..... nevermind. 2b.) I think i was meant to fail that fight... 3.) Nico is my favorite bitch currently and y'all cant change my fucking mind! 4.) Nero is a saaaaassy baby that LOVES HIS NEAR MISSES LIKE WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK NERO! like yeah i know it's a demon thing but fuck OFF with that shit! and then the fuckin "Someone call a doctor?" like BITCH HOW THE FUCK!? 5.) Kyrie is pronounced kir-ree-ay not fucking Kairi XD 6.) Nero is my son, I will fight all of you if you fucking counter me. 7.)
