rules (carrd tba) 01. just don't be a dick. if you don't like the nuance of a villain that showcases both morally grey actions plus the exploration of humanity within that, then don't follow! this goes without saying but muse does not equate mun. the darkling is a villain and all his relationships will be affected by that. his beliefs and trauma do not justify his actions - he is interesting because he thinks they do.

03. i will explore the ship darklina - including all the abusive and toxic elements that shroud it. it's important to the darkling and an interesting relationship to explore, as alina is his foil and obsession. i do not expect anyone to reciprocate shipping or desire it - just that i am simply open to exploration of a complicated relationship, wherever it may go. otherwise, chemistry is the must for anything. will tag '/darklina' and '/nsfw' in any posts that contain it. i am open to shipping with other charactres/ocs/the like as long as there is something there worth exploring.

04. that being said: dark topics will be explored. i do not support the idea of censorship of any form of art. however, i do ask that you tag anything that has to do heavily with grooming/csa/domestic abuse. if something i write needs a tag, just hop in my ims. i'm pretty easy to talk to and willing to accommodate those that ask.

05. still getting through the books so please be patient with me! that being said, alot of what i write will be headcanon, canon-divergent, and influenced by personal interpretation. some influences that will incorporate will be general gothic tropes of the byronic hero and being enticed by the dark. the tale of koschei the deathless may also be present and a reoccurring motif.

06. i reject the ending given to aleksander. while i am fine with his death (though, consider that null here) i do not follow the events of him being resurrected at all unless redeveloped via plotting. i will instead be following a canon-divergent path to be fleshed out soon. though the general idea is that aleksander lives and chooses to do so, facing his loneliness, wherever that leads him.

EYAN KAISER, LORD OF BRIARWOOD KEEP

* note: as of now, Eyan only exists in Odette’s asoiaf/got verse

Eyan Kaiser, Odette’s older brother, was born in 270 AC to William Kaiser, Lord of Briarwood Keep (located in the North, making House Kaiser sworn to the Starks) and his wife Madeleine. He is the first and only son, subsequently making him the heir. From a young age, he was groomed to be a strong and wise lord, leading him to be strong-willed and stubborn. He places the safety of his family and people above all, even at the expense of vows his family has made to the Starks. After his mother died in 280 AC while giving birth to Odette, he threw himself into his training, becoming a formidable swordsman by the time he turned 16. 

After Lord William’s murder in 298 AC, Eyan becomes Lord of Briarwood Keep, and he sends Odette away for her safety (location depends on plot, but it’s usually to Winterfell). Eyan stayed at Briarwood, keeping things in order after his father’s death. When Robb calls for the Northmen to gather for his army, Eyan initially refuses to supply men. He wants to keep all of the men at Briarwood for defense in the impending war, but he eventually gives Robb most of his men, keeping a small host for himself. He doesn’t go with the Northern army, instead staying at his home to defend it. The lord lives through the war, eventually marrying a girl from the village near Briarwood and having children with her.

Eyan is a stubborn man with a quick temper and low patience. Despite being ten years older than his sister, Eyan and Odette have a close relationship. He helped his father raise her after their mother’s death, and he often spent his days following a young Odette around the castle to keep her out of trouble. He continues to be fiercely protective of her, especially after their father’s death.

the Friss legacy

Jedi Knight - Elara Friss

they/them

Age at start of class story: 23

Height: 5'10

Sexuality: Bi ace polyam

Combat style: Sentinel

Lightsaber colour: Green and amethyst. In-game, these are their main and offhand colours, but in my canon they're left-handed and therefore the amethyst is their main colour.

Elara starts out as upstanding Jedi, a bit of a goody-two-shoes type, but the war wears them down. They start to get weirder as they figure themselves out, eventually finding themselves in a leadership position they never wanted but can't deny they're good at. Every so often someone around the base on Odessen finds themselves deeply startled to hear them let out a string of expletives when their datapad glitches out or they drop whatever they're carrying, because the Alliance Commander, Jedi Battlemaster, Hero of Tython, every public persona they've ever worn, does not swear, but Elara Friss sure fuckin does.

In a semi-closed quad with Doc, Theron, and Lana.

i did not know any swtor lore when i started and discovered later that elara dorne exists and thought it was hilarious

Jedi Consular - Aethrii Talera

she/her

Age at start of class story: 19

Height: 5'2

Sexuality: Aroace

Combat style: Guardian

Lightsaber colour: Green, white-blue-purple

Aethrii is serene and stubborn, accustomed to being underestimated due to her age and size. Her enemies often regard the calm certainty she emanates as Jedi foolishness, and she uses their overconfidence to her advantage. She developed a couple of motor tics as a side effect of Force-shielding several Jedi Masters from Vivicar's plague, which occasionally make it difficult for her to use her lightsaber or move with the agility required in combat, and in those moments she calls on her companions to protect her while she focuses on telekinetic defenses.

Aethrii and Elara have known each other since they were 15 and 18, when Elara arrived at the enclave Aethrii was raised in.

Smuggler - Te'vrila Sohnn

she/they

Age at start of class story: 27

Height: 5'7

Sexuality: Demiromantic, bisexual

Combat style: Gunslinger

Pure of heart, dumb of ass. Te'vrila started out as a properly legal freighter pilot, flying cargo in the Bantha's Bounty, but fell into smuggling when money got tight, just trying to get the job done and make a living without getting too tangled up in the process. Instead, she failed upward spectacularly, taking down the Voidwolf and stealing his underworld throne.

Meets Sav in a business deal, eventually starts seeing xem romantically during the Zakuulan occupation.

Sith Warrior - Virinistra Thul

she/her

Age at start of class story: 24

Height: 6'3

Sexuality: Bisexual

Combat style: Juggernaut

Lightsaber colour: Red

The daughter of lower Thul nobility who joined the Imperial military, Virinistra had a comfortable upbringing on Dromund Kaas. She presents a physically imposing figure, but is often presumed to operate on pure brute force, leading to her opponents' downfall.

Sith Inquisitor - Sav'eera Lenneji Kallig

she/they/xe/xem

Age at start of class story: 23

Height: 5'4

Sexuality: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ sapphic of some sort

Combat style: Assassin

Lightsaber colour: Purple (specifically the colour of the high roller saberstaff with an open colour crystal); sometimes red or yellow.

Sav'eera is vibrant and unapologetic, impulsive and unambiguous. They're out to raise the dead for a midnight snack. She's not cruel, most of the time - but she is ruthless. Xe has a soft spot for Ashara, and sometimes ends up making choices xe'd rather not because of it.

Flirted with Andronikos as banter, had a few flings, dated Lana up until Manaan, ultimately ends up asking out Te'vrila after they've made a few deals trading in Sith artifacts.

Imperial Agent - Danestri Avela

they/she

Age at start of class story: 24

Height: 5'6

Sexuality: Bi, greyromantic

Combat style: Operative

Danestri joined the Imperial Military Academy on Dromund Kaas when they were 15, looking for an escape from the life of watching her mother barely make ends meet for years. They excelled and went into medical courses, only to be abruptly recruited to Intelligence at the end of their third year of medic training. Most of her squadmates assume she dropped out. One or two swapped her name into the old ghost story of Intelligence recruiting that upper-years always told to scare the freshmen, despite genuinely believing it to be no more than a story.

Married to Vector and partnered with Shara (formerly Watcher Two/Keeper). The rest of her crew knows about Vector but only Vector knows about Shara.

Trooper - Vedru Cresik

Age at start of class story: 26

Height: 5'11

Sexuality: Bisexual

Combat style: Gunslinger

Having grown up on Coruscant with his moms and sisters, Vedru joined the army wanting to make a difference. Havoc Squad threw them for a loop, and they've had to reevaluate how they can still pull that off.

He and Aric and Elara are all flirting obliviously with each other and haven't figured it out yet.

Bounty Hunter - Kestrala Mevos

Age at start of class story: 25

Height: 5'3

Sexuality: fuck your labels doesn't know, doesn't care (gender: Butch Bitch)

Combat style: Powertech

Kes is just here to kick ass and take credits, she doesn't like the spotlight too much. Has worked for the Voidwolf, and continues to take jobs for the Voidhound.

Extra - Kyelasi Tirje

she/they

Age at start of class story: 18

Height: 5'5

Sexuality: demiromantic, grey-ace

Combat style: Marauder

Kyelasi was Zash's apprentice immediately prior to Sav'eera, and she was granted independence as a Sith Lord to allow Zash to seek out Sav. They're about a year older than Sav, and the two become acquainted throughout Sav's run of the class story, bonding over being alien Sith and also over having similar research interests.

Toma Haskren

she/her

Age at start of class story: 12

Height: 5'3

Combat style: Marauder

Lightsaber colour: Red

Toma is Danestri's estranged half-sister. They were quite close as children, but Toma was sent off to the Sith quite young and Danestri was erroneously told that she did not survive her final trials on Korriban, while Toma came to believe that Danestri should have rescued or protected her from the Sith and has grown to resent her for it.

some thoughts on a post-canon variant verse:

00. some background: a. nyx originally was in charge of the underworld before she gave it up to hades. if she did not, thanatos and his brothers would have some claim to the title of ‘prince’. b. hades refers to the underworld in canon as thanatos’ domain instead of his own after thanatos stands up for zagreus and claims he’d rather be tortured in tartarus than to stop helping zagreus escape hades. c. hades did not want to rule the underworld: instead he was sent down there by his brothers after the war of the titans to live in solitude even though he was the eldest brother. d. the prophecy states that the god of the underworld shall never have an heir.

01.   after a certain amount of time, hades retires from his duties as god of the underworld in an attempt to pursue what he has wanted: a life with persephone. this places zagreus as his heir apparent, and we have seen in canon that zagreus does not want to perform administrative tasks.  02.  enter thanatos, someone who has had a long-standing relationship with zagreus (whether platonic or romantic depending on the choices made throughout the game), someone who is 1) a son of nyx and 2) enjoys administrative duties, keeping schedules, and maintaining order in a chaotic world. benchmark: the god of life (blood) and the god of death, together, ascend to the throne and rule the underworld, together.

03.  ‘ but montana, ’   you ask,   ‘ how do they differentiate their duties?  ’   i’m so glad you asked, voice added into this meta post for comedic effect. thanatos knows the ins and outs of death better than anyone. he knows how to fight off the keres, works with his brothers (one of whom ferries dead souls, the other who organizes them and queues them), and is the creator of gentle, peaceful death. it would be obvious that thanatos heads the administrative duties, and he, for the most part, enjoys the underworld and chooses to stay. he becomes known as a gentle ( but firm! ) ruler, reading out what a soul has done during their mortal lives and directing them, with the help of his brothers, to the appropriate afterlife. special cases are handled exclusively by the new lord of death, including damnable souls with no choice at redemption or honorable heroes.  CONSEQUENTLY,  zagreus abhors the underworld, is the god of blood, and is generally more personable than thanatos is. zagreus is responsible for moving about the realms, making sure that everyone within their underworld does what they’re supposed to in tandem with going to the surface and making sure that the process from being alive to being not is streamlined. this means he often has interactions with his mother and grandmother, as well as occasionally checking in on chaos now that thanatos does not have time. death is not scary for the average person because death and life are now intently intertwined.

04.  sure, this gives hades what he wants ( and frankly those who have abused and taken themselves out on their sons should not get what they want ), but it also gets hades out of the underworld to do as he pleases, which means he isn’t berating zagreus. though thanatos is upset with that particular instance of the agreement, it gets some peace to the underworld underneath their two god-kings. 

05.   and finally, the prophecy is fulfilled. hades ( the god of the underworld ) never has an heir, because neither zagreus nor thanatos have intentions of claiming the title. thanatos is still death incarnate and zagreus is still the god of life / blood whereas hades still has influence over the underworld. he just chooses not to use it. on a technicality, nobody has defied the fates, and the underworld is a somewhat more peaceful place, if you ignore the screaming of the damned in tartarus.

Fun TSJ stat: This is the middlest score, and the highest controversy, we have ever given a song with both Bey and Jay on it.

Alfred Soto: When two years ago she released her pop masterpiece, Beyoncé Knowles used public awareness of her indescribable wealth as Ozymandias might have his implacability. On "APESHIT," she and Mr. Knowles return to the nullity of "'03 Bonnie & Clyde," celebrating a celebrity as content-free as a Givenchy ad on a Seventh Avenue window front. She can't get away with "Can't believe we made it" in 2018, no matter how springy Pharrell's beat -- not when her career to this point has incarnated "We made it." [5]

Tim de Reuse: I don't mind a power couple victory lap on principle, as long as everyone involved actually brings their A-game; and, yeah, they did. Mostly. It's a great reminder of how good these two can be when they're not just talking about how good they can be. [7]

Jonathan Bogart: Genre conventions be damned, minor keys and midtempo beats are now as unutterably dull to me as whatever the kids believe was so suffocating and corny before trap came to save them from it. Jay tells dad jokes, Bey makes dumbass flexes in as baroque a fashion as possible. They're both better than this, which I understand is entirely the point. [4]

Joshua Minsoo Kim: I understand that celebrities have an important platform that they can use to inspire and empower people around the world. Both Beyoncé and Jay-Z have done that, yes. But at the same time, the glamour of perfectly manicured PR campaigns and artfully done music videos have led to a celebrity worship-informed delusion that declares a song like "APESHIT" as something far greater than it actually is: second-rate Migos album filler in 2018 (which is to say, extremely middling and painfully dated). People will readily admit this is the case--some already have--yet will happily continue listening. A sign of good music, or good marketing? [0]

Crystal Leww: It annoys me so much that I like this as much as I do. This is just Beyoncé and Jay Z doing a Migos song, right? Yes, it is. And Everything is Love is just The Carters doing a full album of production that doesn't differentiate from the hip-hop airplay charts, right? Yes, it is. And yet, this is still better. Yes, having access to the best producers and writers plus a (surely) huge budget help, but the level of quality control that Beyoncé exerts over her output is a cut above. We've seen a number of olds put out high profile releases in the last three weeks. They all sound like no one is willing to them that their shit sucks. Thank god for Beyoncé. [9]

Thomas Inskeep: Pharrell crafts a bouncy trap beat for Bey to rap over like the BAWSE she is, with the Migos chiming in behind her. Jay-Z wisely drops in for a cameo verse but otherwise leaves the heavy lifting to his wife, who ain't takin' shit from you nor anyone else. She sounds fierce with a capital "F," and your 2018 summer jam has arrived. [9]

Katherine St Asaph: More functional than song: Watch the Throne II, swapping out Jay's estranged-due-to-MAGA buddy, or the third-act epilogue to Lemonade, which already had its own finale. But the bar for functional here is obviously pretty high. [6]

Will Rivitz: Pitchfork describes Beyoncé's performance on "APESHIT" as that of "your favorite rapper's favorite rapper," high praise for a woman who's been outrapped by three other women in the past two weeks alone. I'm all for this song and the album it's on conceptually, as Bey and Jay flaunting their wealth is always fun (THEY RENTED OUT THE GODDAMN LOUVRE! WITHOUT ANYBODY ELSE KNOWING! HOW?!?), but the fact of the matter is that the beat sounds like it was made in twenty minutes, Quavo sounds like he recorded his ad-libs in ten, Jay sounds like he both wrote and recorded his verse in five, and Bey, while solid, is punching well below her weight. Each Carter's previous solo release saw the artist in question pushing 95 on the freeway; "APESHIT" (and EVERYTHING IS LOVE in general) is them going 45 in the passing lane. [4]

Andy Hutchins: I called the Carters' last collaboration "compellingly weird" and docked it points for Future bleating aimlessly. Here, there is no Future but the future as soundtracked by a Pharrell-smithed car alarm for UFOs, and both are less weird and more wired, red-dotting targets specific and general -- for Shawn Corey, Trump, the NFL, and The Recording Academy; for Beyoncé Giselle, haters far and wide -- and sniping with precision. Jay sounds as committed to ripping into a track as he has in years, but he's out of pocket enough to make what his better half does, in making Migos-style (and likely Migos-penned) double-time sound rich rather than rushed, as much an upstaging as an outrageous display of talent. Beyoncé is certainly among the more versatile and powerful singers of her generation, but her flow here suggests she could probably be one of the better rappers of her generation, too, if she had wanted that as more than an avocation, and that she is currently a better rapper and flexer than her husband, widely considered one of the greatest to rhyme bars ever and perhaps a better braggart. Yet my takeaway from all this fantastic flexing is the sincerity of it: Jay and Kanye went gorillas on "Niggas in Paris," but that "married Kate and Ashley!" groaner certainly didn't move Big Brother to praise his wannabe protégé; here, Jay declares "She went crazy!" in astonishment after the Secretariat-speed third verse, and it sounds as true and loving as anything he's ever said. ABOUT.

A magic-infused retelling of 1001 nights. IDR really remember a lot bc I need to reread so I could be mixing some things up. 

Basically Shahrzad’s best friend was killed by the Caliph ( king ) of Khorason. What she doesn’t know is that there is a curse upon the boy-king, Khalid, that he must marry and kill a girl of 16 every day for a 1000 nights for the curse to be lifted, or else the kingdom won’t have another night of rain again. Shahrzad volunteers to be the next girl to be wed and then killed, but she tricks Khalid by telling him stories that overspill into the dawn, and he is so bewitched by her that he resists killing her until eventually they have both fallen in love with one another. 

Shahrzad’s father meanwhile dabbles in dark magic in an attempt to save her. The kingdom goes up in flame. Shahrzad and Khalid are torn apart after she finds out the reason behind the girls’ murders. Basically Shahrzad also finds out she has the same powers as her father and learns to harvest and train them while she is living with the badawi tribes outside of Khorason.  Meanwhile the ruler of Parthia, a kingdom adjacent to Khorason is trying to kill Khalid and that’s just a mess. 

A lot of shit happens tbh, but obviously Shahrzad and Khalid live happily ever after ( although, her father did kill him and then gave up his life in return for Khalid’s after seeing how devastated Shahrzad was ) and they have a son they name Haroun. Also, she totally has a magic carpet. 

VERSES.

She’s also been named one of Time’s most influential figures, and Vanity Fair’s 30 under 30. Her father tries to keep their Iranian heritage going strong, but Shahrzad barely remembers it during her adolescence. She goes to college in NYU, and  She ends up going back when she’s graduated college, working with women there to publish a third poetry anthology specifically about the modern Iranian women’s experiences. )   04. LOGHAIN’S UPDATED VERSES

THE STOLEN THRONE VERSE: 01 Fighting by Maric and Rowan’s side, Loghain strives for Ferelden to be freed from the Orlesian occupying forces.

REGENT - ORIGINS VERSE: 02 Betrayer of King Cailan Theirin and determined to have the Wardens who survived the battle at Ostagar found, Loghain will use any means necessary to achieve his goals.

WARDEN - ORIGINS VERSE: 03 The Landsmeet takes place early in the game and the Warden decides to spare Loghain and recruit him in their ranks. Loghain follows the HoF as companion around Ferelden until the defeat of the Archdemon.

INQUISITION VERSE: 04 Recruited into the Wardens by the Hero of Ferelden, Loghain works alongside Hawke and aids the Inquisition into the issue of the missing/ corrupted Wardens. If he survives the Fade, he takes command of the remaining Wardens in an attempt to redeem himself of his past crimes.

1. Do you remember your first time watching or reading Fullmetal Alchemist? What was your first impression? I do remember! I was sitting on the couch playing a gameboy game while waiting for Inuyasha to come on (lol) and the first episode of FMA 03 started playing on adult swim. I kept looking up from my game to see what was happening cause it seemed pretty interesting. Since my attention was torn between the show and my game, I don’t really remember what my initial feelings were about it. My first impression was probably something like “huh, this is kinda cool.” Never could have imagined that it would go on to have such a HUGE impact on my life.

2. Tell us about The Fave™

/CRACKS KNUCKLES So if my icon and url and rambling tags that stretch on forever didn’t get the message across, my favorite character is Ling. Just about anyone who knows me here (or among my close friends irl) know how much I love Ling. He’s cute and funny and could easily be passed off as the goofy comic relief but he’s so much more than that.  He’s determined and loyal and he’ll do whatever it takes to claim the throne for himself. Not out of a desire for power simply to have it, but because that power is the key to securing a safe future for his clan. I just love and admire him so much, and I can only hope that some of his princely wisdom and compassion rub off on me u v u

3. Do you have a favorite fanwork? Fanfics? Comics? I have many faves! Just to name a few: - siruoa’s Emperor’s New Clothes amv which is beautifully animated with gorgeous art. A must see! - Nothing Gold; an EdLing fic that reads like a novel and crushes the heart like an anvil to the chest - The Roommate Agreement; a fic about Ling and Greed in a modern day setting with a bit of a supernatural twist - Blunt Force Trauma; a fic that plays out so vividly in the mind as you’re reading that it may as well be animated by BONES (oh, if only) GreedxDolcetto, DEFINITELY NOT FOR KIDDOS

4. Hit me with an analysis/opinion you have on the series or characters! I love the characters. All of them. While I have read that some find this to be a fault, I think that one of the absolute best things about FMA is the attention that every character receives. Every character gets a moment to shine. Even if they only show up for a couple chapters, they somehow manage to completely steal your heart. If even the side characters can be so lovable and such a delight to see, it’s no wonder that the main characters are so well developed and why they warrant such love and adoration from the fans. Hiromu Arakawa pulls this off beautifully.

5. Tell us about a project you have going on! Or if you don’t have one, maybe something you’ve always wanted to write or draw? I wouldn’t consider it so much a concrete, singular project. But I am always developing my own interpretation of Xing. It’s my baby. I have about twenty or so OC’s as a part of it- from the court officials to the royal wives to the citizens of Xing’s many provinces. I’ve written quite a bit about it with a dear friend of mine, but I feel that there’s always room for improvement! ‘ v ‘

6. Favorite opening/ending number and why? This is SO HARD. I can’t pick just one because I love them all for different reasons. So for now I’ll say my fave opening is Ready Steady Go. It takes me back to my early days in the FMA fandom and makes me so nostalgic. Fave ending number would be Motherland by Crystal Kay. I play it so much. It’s such a sweet, pretty song and I love the lyrics. (Plus the animation that goes with it is adorable! <3)

7. Tell me about a scene that really touched you or made you realize something about yourself. A scene that really touched me was the scene where Edward is in the Gate and he promises Alphonse that he’ll come back for him. You think that’s it’s going to be this cruel tease and that a glimpse is all the brothers get of one another but then Edward breaks through and calls out to Alphonse and GOD, the scene just ruins me.  Edward and Alphonse have such an amazing relationship and it’s so touching to see the brothers so devoted to one another.

8. OTPs! Who are they? Why are you WEAK FOR THEM? Edling’s got me WEAK. This pairing has a very special place in my heart because it’s a big part of how I actually met my best friend. But even on it’s own, Edward and Ling have a great relationship together. Even with just the friendship we see in the series, they come to care for one another greatly and there are just so many precious moments between them. Like Edward’s concern for Ling when Greed takes over his body, or the way he goes back for him when they’re stuck in Gluttony. They’re just a couple of dumb teenagers in love and I love it. GreedxLing is my damn aesthetic and I will never get enough of it. These two are so similar and yet so different and that’s what makes them mesh together so well. I always think about that scene during the attack on Central when they couldn’t tell if it was Ling or Greed in control because they were so in tune with one another. These two learn a lot from one another and seeing their relationship play out with each other gets me every time ;   ;

9. Funniest headcanon you’ve ever seen. Go! Trust exercises at Fort Briggs involving Captain Buccaneer trust falling onto soldiers half his size I’ll leave the results to your own imagination

10. What spurred you to join the fandom? I dunno if there was a particular moment where I “joined”, per se?? I’ve been around since ye olden days of quizilla and lemons and the FMA Banana Phone amv.

11. Have a fandom meltdown here and tell me why you love your fandom or show/comic so much! BOY, I HAVE SO MANY FEELINGS I’ve been a fan of this series for so long. (To the point where I hardly remember who I was as a person before it???) It’s become practically synonymous with my identity in that everyone who knows me knows how much I love it. It’s so much more than “my favorite anime.” It’s what has been at my side growing up, my support in times of strife, and my biggest inspiration. I can say with absolute certainty that it has helped shape me into the person I am today, and that I am able to thank it for all the amazing friends I’ve made and the amazing experiences I’ve enjoyed throughout my life.  I truly don’t know where I’d be without FMA and I’m so glad that I still have the lovely people still participating in this fandom to interact with on a daily basis. I feel so blessed to be a part of this miraculously thriving community.
