My concepts for the development progress of an Iterators Puppet

-Feasibility Study  

[1]: First autonomous control module, any instruction to be given must be done manually through physical means (the keys), outputs were shown through the screen. A very primitive system, however, did its job proving the greater machine concept was achievable. While it does look like a lens above the monitor, this was a simple status gauge for benchmarking.

-Prototyping and Development  

[2]: Now with the capability to wirelessly and audibly communicate to receive instructions and inputs. The system was no longer directly integrated into the facility, and resided on the first instance of an iterator's arm. This was considered a feat due to the complications with isolating the control module from the rest of the iterators components, while keeping processing power. A permanent connection/umbilical was needed to sustain life and function though. 

To “talk” back, they were crafted with multidimensional projectors, the mobile arm allowing the angles and variance for this projection. Only later into development were advanced speakers installed for optimized understanding, however the extra computing power required to synthesize proper speech was found to strain the contained module, so this function had rare use in the end.

[3]: At this point there was a change in perspective in the project. What once were machines to simply compute and simulate, were now planned to be the home, caregiver, and providers. The further the project came to fruition the more religious importance was placed upon these “random gods”. From this stance not only did the puppets have to manage and control their facilities, they had to communicate with the people and priests. To represent benevolent beings who will bring their end and salvation. In this process iterators began to take a more humanoid shape, to better reflect their parents. Development was focused on compacting the puppet closer to the size of an ancient for this purpose. This stage was the first to incorporate a cloak/clothing into their design considerations, to further akin themselves in looks. The cloak would hide the iterators' engineered bodies and give a body to their silhouette. 

[4]: As bioengineering and mechanics were rapidly progressing due to the void fluid revolution, this allowed plenty of margin for developing the outer design of the iterator puppets. This prototype was the first to incorporate limbs for the purpose of body language. This was another step in the drive to give a body to their random gods.

-Final Iterations

[5]: First generation iterators had the final redesign of puppet bodies. Far different from their first designs, they are fully humanoid. Their bodies are shaped to be organic and as full of life as they could at the time. Their center of sapience has fully settled within their body, as can be seen as their unconscious use of limbs without the direct intention for communication. This can also see how they manage their work, where many of the functions (which can be done with just an internal request) are operated through physical gestures of their limbs. Their puppet chambers also allow for full comprehensive projection, where many of their working monitors are displayed. It is seen how iterators prefer to utilize their traversal arm to transfer between the current working projection window.

These designs were hardy and nearly self-sufficient, only requiring minimal power from their umbilical to charge. (However was still limited in the terms of internal power production, for this first generation extensive batteries sufficed)

[6]: Later generation not only incorporated advanced bioengineering internally, but externally. While still a hardened shell, their body plates have been incorporated into the organics of the puppet, maintaining the protective requirements while barely leaving a trace of hinges or plates. This “soft” skin had drawbacks, such as reduced durability to the first generations, this was offset by the greatly enhanced repair speeds and capability this type of skin allowed.

Internal power generation was implemented into these late generation models. If the case arose, the Puppet could be disconnected from their umbilical and still be conscious from an undefined period of time. (However this would limit the operating capacity of the puppet when running self sufficiently) This greatly eased maintenance works, as the Puppet could still run the greater facility wirelessly while work was done on the chamber, arm or whatever as needed.

Aircraft engine types ✈️

✈️Turbo-Shaft: Used in helicopters and some fixed-wing aircraft, it features a compressor, combustion chamber, and turbine. The turbine drives a power shaft via a free (power) turbine, which powers the rotor or propeller through a gearbox, rather than producing direct thrust. Exhaust gases are expelled separately.

✈️Turbo-Prop: Similar to a turbo-shaft, it powers a propeller via a gearbox. Air is compressed, mixed with fuel, and burned in the combustion chamber. The turbine extracts energy to drive the propeller, with some exhaust thrust. It’s efficient for low-speed, short-range flights.

✈️Turbo-Fan: Common in commercial jets, it has a large fan at the front, high- and low-pressure compressors, a combustion chamber, and turbines. The fan accelerates air around the core (bypass air) for thrust, while the core produces additional thrust via exhaust. It’s efficient for high-speed, long-range flights.

✈️Turbo-Jet: An older design, it compresses air, burns fuel in the combustion chamber, and expels exhaust through a nozzle for thrust. It lacks a bypass fan, making it less efficient but capable of high speeds. Used in early jet fighters and some supersonic aircraft.

✈️Ram-Jet: Operates at high speeds (Mach > 1), using forward motion to compress air in the inlet. Fuel is injected and burned in the combustion chamber, and the exhaust is expelled through a nozzle for thrust. It has no moving parts but only works at high speeds.

✈️Scramjet: A supersonic combustion ramjet, designed for hypersonic speeds (Mach > 5). Air enters at supersonic speeds, is compressed, mixed with fuel, and burned in a combustion chamber, with exhaust expelled for thrust. It’s used in experimental hypersonic vehicles.

✈️Rocket: Uses stored propellants (fuel and oxidizer) in a pressure vessel. Propellants are burned in a combustion chamber, and the high-pressure exhaust is expelled through a nozzle for thrust. It operates in space since it doesn’t rely on atmospheric oxygen.

✈️Gas Turbine: Similar to a turbo-shaft, it’s used for power generation or auxiliary power units. Air is compressed, burned with fuel, and the exhaust drives a power turbine, which can power generators or other systems. Bleed valves and discharge ports manage airflow and pressure.

Each engine type is optimized for specific applications, balancing efficiency, speed, and operational environment.

my take on batfam sleep schedules (and everything else they do)

10pm - 5am : patrol [7hr] 6am - 2pm : sleep [8hr] 3pm - 9pm : work from home, sometimes dinner with the kids [6hr]

bruce has the benefit of being able to choose his own work hours and work from home. still, he pushes himself round the clock to keep on top of his life as both batman and bruce wayne. his sleep is perfectly optimized and scheduled; not a minute more than he thinks he needs to operate at peak functionality.

dick works full time, and his body naturally needs a lot of sleep, so regretfully, rather than cutting into his sleep time he cut into patrol time to make his schedule work. ideally, he'd be sleeping closer to 10 hours, but he can't afford it.

Hopepunk Primer pt. 2

Philosophy of Hopepunk

I cannot express this better than other people have done before me. So I'll start with an interview Kayti Burt had with several hopepunk authors in 2019.

"What is hopepunk? It depends on who you ask…

Rowland, quoting their essay “One Atom of Justice, One Molecule of Mercy, and the Empire of Unsheathed Knives,” says: “Hopepunk is a subgenre and a philosophy that ‘says kindness and softness don’t equal weakness, and that, in this world of brutal cynicism and nihilism, being kind is a political act. An act of rebellion.’”

To understand hopepunk as a concept it helps to understand what it stands in contrast to. Grimdark is a fantasy subgenre characterized by bleak settings in which humanity is fundamentally cutthroat, and where no individual or community can stop the world’s inevitable decline. Hopepunk, in contrast, believes that the very act of trying has meaning, that fighting for positive change in and of itself has worth—especially if we do it together." [4]

When Alexandra Rowland was asked on Tumblr to expand on the initial statement she made they elaborated:

"Hopepunk says that genuinely and sincerely caring about something, anything, requires bravery and strength. Hopepunk isn’t ever about submission or acceptance: It’s about standing up and fighting for what you believe in. It’s about standing up for other people. It’s about DEMANDING a better, kinder world, and truly believing that we can get there if we care about each other as hard as we possibly can, with every drop of power in our little hearts." [5]

Hopepunk is choosing hope in a world where they want us to have none. It's choosing humanity when they want us to forget we are human. It's choosing community when they would benefit of us staying individuals. It's choosing action and hope when they want us struck down and paralyzed.

Alexandra Rowland emphasizes to not forget the second part of the word: Punk. In another interview with Kayti Burt for Den of Geek they say:

"it’s important to remember that punk is the operative half of the word – punk in the sense of anti-authoritarianism and punching back against oppression." and "The instinct is to make it only about softness and kindness, because those are what we’re most hungry for. We all want to be treated gently. But sometimes the kindest thing you can do for someone is to stand up to a bully on their behalf, and that takes guts and rage." [7]

What is Hopepunk to me?

That spark that is both love and spite that keeps me going. It's seeing the good in humanity, while also acknowledging the harm. It's refusing to lay down and die, refusing the accept the status quo, refusing to believe that this is it.

It's believing in a better world. In kindness. In the inherent sense of community in humanity. It's believing in the power of stories.

It's seeing kindness and hope as an act of Sacred Rebellion. And spreading that kindness and hope is a Vow that I have taken.

It's taken the anger I have against corporations, injustice, bigotry, capitalism, oppression, and letting it fuel the fire within me in a constructive way. It's working to dismantle systems that are oppressive to work towards a more inclusive world. It's pruning the garden of dead weight so new things can grow.

Late stage capitalism wants us all to be docile, to work, not to live. So I will shout my small joys from the rooftops. I will create for the sake of creating. I will practice radical acceptance so that I stand strong above the masses of ads that wants me to hate myself. I will choose to see the good so that I can believe change is possible.

Hopepunk a fire that says "Rage. Rage against those who deserve it. Stand up for those who do not and show them a better world is possible."

Synopsis: Made as a fail-safe executioner, a certain android started deviating from their orders.

"I mean, if you want to give me a name, it's totally okay."

9S!Reader who was made by GDA as a fail-safe should superpowered heroes or civilians go rogue. All combat and personal data about anyone was ingrained in their code, enabling them to quickly dispose of any enemies. Programmed to analyze and gather information, they're naturally curious about almost everything.

Despite it all, you were friendly.

You were initially a secret. A solo operative that moves in the shadows. You receive orders and only answers to Cecil; and to prevent any deviation from your side, the agency required you a "blindfold" that restricts your normal vision but enhances your fighting capabilities by having your visor display information in real time, this also serves as a way for GDA to monitor your movements in real time from your point-of-view.

But just after you finished your mission of apprehending deserters, you moved on your own despite your creator's orders, appearing to assist a hero in their fight. Piloting a flight unit, you provided support fire power and served as a decoy while this seemingly newbie got back on his feet. Amidst the fight, you scanned him and found out that he's Invincible, Omni-Man's son.

After the villain was subdued, he looked up to you in confusion, not being briefed about this kind of "hero". It's to be expected, Cecil never introduced you to anyone to keep your efficiency at 100%. Even so, you wanted to have friends, to know your co-workers, to establish camaraderie. You thought that it's because you're made to be a scanner that you inherently wanted to know more about people, but such desires will jeopardize your position within the organization, so you tuck it away in a folder where not even Robot can find it.

Cecil finally relented and gave orders based on your actions after weighing the options, giving you permission to formally introduce yourself to the young hero.

"You must be Invincible."

You smiled from your mech.

"I'm 9S."

"I received orders to support you."

9S!Reader who was finally formally included in the roster of heroes, albeit with some limitations due to their circumstances. You're not allowed to do anything except for hero work, and will only be deployed by Cecil's orders. Others expressed concern for your schedule, as you're always seen in the agency, but you simply brushed them off with a smile and optimism. While you're finally able to mingle with others, it's not like they knew about your true identity as their executioner.

If they knew, would they still want to associate with you?

You made calculations that the possibility will be below 10%

9S!Reader who was soon approached by the first hero they talked to. Invincible was curious about you, albeit, with more passion than the others. Upon the unspoken agreement that you two clicked, with his geeky nature and your own inquisitiveness, the both of you quickly became friends.

While Mark was curious about your appearance, he never pried too deep, silently accepting that tech was your schtick as a hero. What he really wanted to know was your name. You told him that you're 9S, withholding the information that it truly meant No. 9 Type S(canner), but he insisted to know your real name.

You couldn't give one.

When he found out about that, you noticed that his expression is a mix of pity and shock. You supposed it is expected, humans who have a similar situation as yours are likely orphans, and that might be what's running inside his mind right now. You diffused the situation before he starts talking badly about your creator, offering him a chance to grant you one instead.

"I mean, if you want to give me a name, that's totally okay."

It took him a week to decide on one, insisting that it needs to be "special" since you'll be using it your whole life. You refrained yourself from saying that it won't matter but soon found the idea flattering. You'll be having something that wasn't already prepared for you by GDA. In a way, it's something that's yours and yours alone, untethered by the cruel role you were made of.

He settled for (Y/N), saying that it suits you the most while shyly rubbing the back of his neck.

You hoped to never get an order to exterminate Mark.

He told you that he also thought about possible last names but you cut him off by proposing his' instead. It was supposed to be a joke, something to elicit a laugh out of him, but strangely, Mark went red. You immediately backtracked upon the implications of your words, assuring him that you only jest.

You didn't miss the slight disappointment in his expression and tone.

What does that mean? Does Mark want you to be a Grayson? That doesn't sound too bad, but he doesn't really know about your circumstances now, does he?

You want to tell.

But you're not allowed.

...!

Your primary orders are to follow Cecil's orders. The secondary one is to gather information about enemies and exterminate hostiles to humanity. On top of it all, you are also given permission to adapt to any situation given that it would be beneficial to your cause.

With that said, you'll be able to get more information about Mark if the two of you get closer, right?

Besides, what else would be beneficial for your mission if not to win the trust of your potential targets?

You confessed to Mark after some time. It was inevitable, really, having been stabbed in a spot that's lethal to humans yet is somehow still functioning after. It was a relief that only he was the sole witness of the event, giving you a good enough reason to fess up while you patch yourself.

You're a robot. Created with the battle data of every hero. There isn't an ounce of humanity in your synthetic body.

Mark leans in, hands going behind your head and undoing the knot of your blindfold, removing your visor from your face. For the first time, you squinted from the natural light, seeing everything outside your enhancements. He smiles at your reaction, telling you that no matter what you truly are, you're still (Y/N).

You didn't get to tell him that you're here to kill him in case he goes rogue.

You started to feel strange after that. Your internal temperature seems to be malfunctioning at random times of the day. Gone is the usual chatty android during joint missions, you're somehow always worried, especially when it involves a certain hero. Why is that, you ask yourself. There are no viruses present in your system, not that they could fester inside you without being eradicated the second you get breached. Were you perhaps malfunctioning?

Any equipment given to you by the GDA proved to be useless in discerning what's really happening to you. Something is eating you from the inside yet you don't have any references of data about it. It is only when you're in Mark's presence do you calm down. It's strange, you don't recall any of his abilities that are related to your condition. Further investigation is required. But for now, you want to stay a little bit longer with him.

The breaking point for you was when Omni-Man turned on Earth.

What you felt upon seeing the footage must be fear. No, rage. No, worry. You don't know. All you know is that, you rushed out before your comrades could even prepare themselves.

Cecil immediately orders for you to be deployed, alongside with other heroes to perform a rescue and extraction mission. Extraction? Not extermination? Did Cecil want Nolan alive? Why? He's killing all those people! He's hurting Mark!

"Fire missiles."

You muttered, inside your flight unit, as your arsenal fires at the Viltrumite. He easily comes out unscathed, but they were just decoys meant to obstruct his vision. It's unfair, you thought, that he's murdering helpless innocents. They hold nothing against him, yet, they die because of a simple difference in power??

The Viltrumite finally got ahold of you after you maneuvered around to avoid his attacks, tearing you away from your flight unit and crushing a third of your hardware. Squirming around his grip, you can feel the electricity spark around your body, with systems threatening to shut down if you don't get out of there quickly.

You lock eyes with Mark, and something in you snapped. Within a second, you conjured a sword and sliced Nolan's arm cleanly off his body.

In the laboratory, where I was created.

Around you were corpses of people whom Omni-Man nonchalantly killed while trying to convince Mark to join him, but his son refused, insisting on getting his father to see that what he's doing is just outright wrong.

Lies and deception recurred.

You fought off Nolan with a battle cry, going berserk as your body borders on shutting down. Nevermind the system failing, you only have one goal in mind. To kill this Viltrumite.

And my dear person, who I was unable to protect.

Cecil orders you to pull back, to salvage something of Nolan. But his words no longer affect you, having long overridden his control via your special permission.

To atone for those sins, I will continue to fight!

You dug your sword deeper inside the Viltrumite.

That is why, this world will be...

Mark cries out for you.

By the way, another little point of hope and optimism to hold onto is that on the point of international law and Israel's flouting of it, a lot of people are justifiably, and with great frustration, asking "what's the point of it if it doesn't apply now?" Well, based on the US' own abrupt about face we can see that it Does matter, and the reason why is good news. See, the truth of the matter is that those of you who aren't fellow Geopolitics Heads might not realize this, and take it as axiomatic that the US is still The Global Hegemon that does as it pleases on the world stage, but increasingly, especially in these past 5 years in particular, that whole reality has been beginning to fall apart.

The truth is, in spite of the scam that is orthodox development economics, little by little, the third world has in fact been rising up to the level with the parasite nations of the West. What this means is that more and more Brazil matters. Indonesia matters. China matters. India matters. Nigeria matters. South Africa matters. Iran matters. So many other countries matter. Not in some abstract moral sense, but in the sense that they are increasingly powerful, and increasingly independent global powers in a world order that is just beginning to take shape before our very eyes.

People forget, but at the height of its power, when the 3rd world was much weaker, the US used to make a big show of meticulously following international law in light of day and equally meticulously covering it up when they violated it, but as imperial collapse continues apace, the same decisionmaking positions are occupied by zealots who are unwilling to operate with the same care as their predecessors, arrogantly believing that the US can do whatever it wants to the rest of the world, even though increasingly, and I can't stress this enough, it cannot.

So while defeat is of course waiting for the Zionist Enemy as well, the US's full-throated support of its vicious attacks on Palestinian civilians has utterly eviscerated any remaining credibility as a fundamentally benign power the US may have had remaining just about anywhere after the Iraq war. Imperialist parasites flock together and they crash and burn together.

Cool thing Lucifer and I have been working on: conditional wards.

It’s like programming a little symbolic computer using magical squares and mathematical formulas. Rather than static protections, the wards dynamically adapt activation based on achieved conditions. “If A is equal or greater than X activate safety protocol 1”. “If C is an element of Set A then C must be greater than 0”. The mathematical symbols work as sigils- pictorial symbols of willed instruction.
