I think the metric system is perfect, it just works, and not just because everything is in factors of 1000.

If we assume that a human being is 100% water (a gross underestimation given that there are so many things dissolved in the water in your body and also all of the lipids) & the average person is 70 kg.

There are 18 grams of water in a mole (which is 6.02x10^23 molecules!) & 70 kg comes out to 3,888 moles or 2.34x10^27 molecules!

Okay so sophomore year of high school I found out what a “mole” was in chemistry class (if you dont know it is basically 6.02x10^23 aka a giant ass number) and i was obsessed with it.

I started calculating ridiculous things to try to see if I could fathom how big of a number it truely was. so, I filled an entire notebook page with dots, counted all the dots, and calculated how many pages and how many notebooks and how many trees to make the paper it would take to write a mole of dots on paper (front and back) and while I sadly dont think I have that notebook anymore it was a *ridiculous* amount of paper/trees. 

I then also calculated how long it would take ever person on the planet making dots nonstop to fill that many notebooks and while I dont remember specifically it would take about 5 generations (assuming everyone had one child and lived to be ~90) to make that many dots.

Why do I bring this up now?

therefore, 1 mole of polyethene makes approximately 4.30769231 plastic bags, therefore, (6.02x10^23)/4.30769231 molecules of polyethene goes into each plastic bag. Where I live, each plastic bag costs 10 cents, so each molecule of polyethene comes in at $(0.1/(6.02x10^23/4.30769231))

Instead of using this brain of mine to write jazz or do other things (or to be a chemist), i waste my time thinking about weird things like these.
