Love how in Queen’s Shadow, anytime Padmé looks upon the Jedi Temple, she thinks of Anakin and by extension remembers Shmi too. I just love the way in the first passage posted above, when Padmé lays eyes on the Temple, her hand instinctively moves up to hold onto the Japor Snippet that Anakin gave her years ago and Padmé still kept with her like a precious gem.

Night Reign is almost here and it's so strange to me how many aspects of it seem to line up with Padfoot's fanon/vibes that I remixed across the souls games and Elden Ring up until now. Even if it isn't much, seeing some echos and rhymes of different fromsoft canons taking shape in the Lands Between just tickles me after spending so long reimagining the beats from the other souls games to fit in an altered Elden Ring timeline. As if this one Tarnished disappeared on the Long March, and then got sucked into this Odyssey of nonsense caused by totally different fucked up god-monarchies several continents over. So while I know Nightreign has no strict connection to Elden Ring's actual plot; imagining a scenario where Padfoot basically becomes the Lord of Stars, and then has some manifestation of their history descend from the night as a consequence of unresolved trauma is kinda fun, to me anyway. Anyway that's all to say that if the final boss looks like a confrontation with their dark reflection I'm gonna go absolutely feral.

William and Superman (and Henry, El, and Will)

Did you know that the earliest depiction of Superman was a man named William Dunn? (You can read it here)

He was a poor man, waiting on bread-lines for food, until one day, while waiting, Professor Smalley approached him.

Professor Ernest Smalley was the main villain of this story (the earliest Superman story, Reign of the Superman, 1933), and he was a “mad scientist” who experimented on people (sounds familiar?).

Professor Smalley offered William (also called Bill) a hot meal, and following Smalley ended up with William becoming one of his test subjects. Smalley experimented with him with a meteor rock, which ended up giving him superpowers.

These superpowers were not like the ones of modern Superman (let’s say, laser eyes), instead, they were mental (telepathy, control human minds, telescopic vision).

William immediately got corrupted and decided to become a super villain and take over the world.

Professor Smalley wanted his powers, and even tho he tried to get powers himself, it didn’t work. Smalley and William fight, and William wins, but his powers disappear some time later and he return to being a normal person.

Despite this Superman being called William, the story reminds me Henry.

William (Henry) was a test subject of Smalley (Brenner), and he ended up having powers thanks to a meteor rock (Henry being in a cave and getting transported to dimension x, which could have given him superpowers).

William (Henry) having mental powers and deciding to take over the world. Brenner likely tried to get powers himself too at some point and it didn’t work.

That’s not the only Superman story with a William, tho. In 2011, Superman #705 came out, about a little boy named William, who is seen wearing plaid in his first scene (he’s also telling his mom excitedly that Superman is in town, while his mom talks on the phone with Barb) (read here)

Then, a group of parents feel uneasy about Superman being in the park with their kids, and a woman says he’s a gun. Louis Lane appears, and Superman mentions how he feels like a gun, dangerous. Reminds me a lot of El and her superhero/monster dichotomy.

Remember the little boy William from before? His dad is abusive.

Not only towards him, but towards his mom aswell. He ends up locking William in the basement, but luckily Superman hears his cries for help, and when he finds out his dad hits him, he’s not happy. Not one bit.

Superman takes the father to the police, and mother and child end up at child protective services and charges will be filed against the father. Superman gives little William his phone number, and asks him to call him every day, to see how he’s doing.

Reminds me of Lonnie and Will, Jonathan, and Joyce. I hope Lonnie also receives the beating of his life.
