For anyone worried about having their hard work replaced with AI, here's a playful reminder that the popular streamer DougDoug forced ChatGPT, the one ADVERTISED TO BE THE SMARTED MACHINE LEARNING PROGRAM, to play through a Pajama Sam game targeted at preschoolers and had to nuke the program a grand total of 26 times because the AI wasn't learning anything from his prompts, but rather it's own INCREASINGLY UNHINGED ramblings.

"I'm messing with the AI training," I finally admit. I may be the best vigilante the city has ever had, but my suit is not yet fireproofed. "Why don't you join me? You hate AI too, right?"

"That-" He pauses and lowers his hands, "How would that even work?"

"It's easy! All you have to do is say random things. Like this, cylinder thirty fourth inch with soup in the soul not the soil. Perry parrot."

"No, I understand that. It's how you're influencing an AI here that I'm confused about. Unless you're saying we're just figments of somebody's imagination, being written about on a social media platform?"

My nose wrinkles. "Ew, get your philosophical weirdness away from me. I did not consent."

"Flame?" Yet another hero comes up the stairs, "Did you not leave for patrol yet?"

Remix's look of shock is almost enough to make me laugh, but it quickly turns into one of anger. Guess he still hasn't forgiven me for throwing a party in his office.

"That's my cue to leave! " I leap up and only slightly stumble when blood rushes to my head. The energy waves he produces are fairly easy to dodge, but he himself is harder to. I throw myself off the roof in a desperate bid to escape his little grabby fingers.

I'm only in free fall for a second before the wings on my little squirrel suit snap open. I laugh wild and free as I safely glide over to a nearby building. Another win for the Esra2 community.

"With ChatGPT’s rapid growth since its launch in late 2022 and many other text, graphic and video AI generative services gaining popularity, AI and copyright has become a heatedly debated topic. The U.S. Copyright Office is now seeking public comment to assess the need for legislative or regulatory steps in copyright law issues raised by the rapid development of AI.

Four main areas surrounding the use of AI systems are currently for public comment, some of these are more closely connected to fannish activities and have a direct impact on AO3 users.

Using copyrighted materials in training AI models, specifically, whether permission from copyright owner is needed, in what form (opt in or opt out), and if compensations is necessary; what type of system for permission and remuneration is feasible, whether records should be retained to identify training materials used, and if they should be available to copyright holders; if requests are not honored, what remedies should be available.

Whether materials generated using AI systems are copyrightable – namely what level of human involvement may be considered sufficient control over the output material for it to be considered human-authored.

Potential liability for infringing works generated with the use of AI systems: how the liability should be apportioned between the developers of the system and the user who provided the prompts.

"what did students do before chatgpt?" well one time i forgot i had a history essay due at my 10am class the morning of so over the course of my 30 minute bus ride to school i awkwardly used by backpack as a desk, sped wrote the essay, and got an A on it.

six months later i re-read the essay prior to the final exam, went 'ohhhh yeah i remember this', got a question on that topic, and aced it.

point being that actually doing the work is how you learn the material and internalize it. ChatGPT can give you a short cut but it won't build you the the muscles.
