OCPD subtype flags
Conscientious(first), Puritanical(second), Bureaucratic(third), Parsimonious(fourth), and Bedevilled(fifth) OCPD Millon subtype flags. Flags on the left use the OCPD flag we made(link), flags on the right use this one (link).
Here's a link to a post explaining Millon's proposed five OCPD subtypes(link) (fair warning the way Millon writes about PwPDs is rather judgment and ableist as times)
In terms of color choice we partially went with colors based on the flags of the other disorder each subtype has traits of; conscientious-DPD, Puritanical-PPD, Bureaucratic-NPD, Parsimonious-SzPD. We couldn't do that for Bedevilled, because it is described as having traits of negativistic personality disorder, which isn't a diagnosis any more, so there's no flag for it. So instead we took colors from the negative affectivity PD-TS flag we made, and BPD flags because the description of bedevilled OCPD seems reminiscent of BPD to us(specifically the "They are in a constant battle between their desires and will, and may engage in self-defeating behavior and self-torture in order to resolve the internal conflict. Their identity is unstable, and they are indecisive." part).
Here's versions of the flags without the symbols

I think my ocpd affects how I enjoy games. Like every game. I played a little to the left for the first time, and was incredibly stressed. It was not organized how I wanted it to be organized. And I thought the little stars had to do with time rather than different ways, so when I first got a level done and only got one star for it, I was incredibly discouraged, and replayed the level faster and faster until I realized the stars had nothing to do with time.
My favorite game is Okami. There are battles that based on how they are scored, give you money. There are clear ways to defeat an enemy. You have options in going about it (what type of weapon or brushes you use) but at the end of it, to get them into a weakened mode they typically have one way. Events in the game are rarely time dependent. Some things can only be obtained after a certain part of the story is completed, or if it’s a time of day, which you get the ability to control. There are tons of things to 100%. I replay the game every year to completion. It is my favorite game. The story is the same every time. How I go about it changes, and the game does not punish me for it.
Im trying to figure out how my personality disorder fits into my other interests, like hollow knight, Minecraft, and mainly my love for board games.

the combination of schizoid and anankastic PDs makes of such a boring existence. i cannot enjoy anything so i will just only work instead. i don't know how to have any fun, so in my free time i will lie down and stare at the ceiling. all the hobbies i once had are now literal chores. i have to make everything an obligation in my head or i won't do anything. etc.

Oh god sorry I gotta reblog and add something because I scrolled through like a dozen of replies and-
OCD AND OCPD ARE TWO DIFFERENT THINGS
OCD IS NOT A PERSONALITY DISORDER
OCD IS ALSO NOT A MOOD DISORDER, IT IS IT'S OWN THING
OCPD IS A PERSONALITY DISORDER AND IT IS JUST UNFORTUNATELY NAMED - SOME PREFERE ANANKASTIC PD FOR THIS REASON
For the life of me I hateee when people misrepresent OCD, it's such a misunderstood disorder and I feel so bad each time it gets confused with OCPD/anankastic PD just because of the stupid naming...
Please reblog for a bigger sample size!

It's late at night, I drew a picture. I should be studying, I won't sleep tonight.
Since starting my recovery journey I've been so proud of myself for not indulging in sleep deprivation but this week is kicking my ass. There is always this nagging - stop sleeping, stop eating, stop owning things etc. It makes me feel worse but it also makes me feel insanely better. Nothing more torturous yet joyful than keeping yourself awake for almost two days, hungry and on the verge of collapsing but still going. I pride myself in it even though it sounds horrifying. And when the night is over, i put on makeup and go to school. Nobody has to know, my little secret, in a way I guess it makes me feel like I'm better than everyone else. I can free myself from sleep, I can defy my own body, that's my peak of control.

yeah, welcome to apparently the most common PD, that at the same time has almost the fewest awareness and rescourses... like I found your post by scrolling through the #ocpd tag in "the most recent" section. and just a few posts below is my post that I made a month ago. imagine a tag having only 10 posts a month... I'm sorry I don't know either just wanted to say hi
Learning my boyfriend and I have OCPD but different kinds? Is it a spectrum? I can't find any good resources outside of the stupid stereotypes. I just need to know how to cope with things I can't control or change. I need to learn how to cope when someone changes plans on me. When I can't accomplish a task and it devours my thoughts until I figure out how to fix it. I was hoping tumblr would have more lived experience but I have no found any good resources. If you know, please message me.

Obsessive-Compulsive Personality Disorder(OCPD)/Anankastic Personality Disorder(AnPD) flag
So we'll level with you, we aren't 100% sure we actually have OCPD, we do have a lot of symptoms of it but we don't know for sure. If that makes not want to use the flag that's fine
Flag meaning:
It has 6 stripes because 6 is a perfect number. The symbol consists of a symbol the is sometimes used to represent the control key on keyboards, and the white flower with six petals is for perfection.
White is for need for perfection, but also for awareness
Yellow rigidity, as well community
Green is for comorbidity, and solidarity
Blue is for order, as well acceptance
Burgundy is for need for control, also symptom management
Black is for underlining anxiety and insecurity, but also recovery
Also here's just the symbol in case you want it

Upping my dosage for my medication. I hate entering depressive episodes bc of how much loathing comes out of it. I have all the steps on how I’d start to clean my room or start doing household chores and I can envision perfectly what I’d do, but for some reason my brain can’t even comprehend starting. Anytime I think about actually starting it feels like my brain is glazing over it. I wish this was one of those times where the “perfectionist” part of the disorder would kick in but all that’s happening is me feeling like I’m going to be in moral hell for not doing anything

I think this is mostly because OCPD is pretty much only discussed when contrasted with OCD. Heck, when you try to explain OCPD you have to contrast it with OCD because of the unfortunate name, just to avoid confusion. And the easiest way to to that is to explain the difference between egosyntonic and egodystonic
interesting to me that ocpd online communities seem so obsessed with the idea of egosyntonic and egodystonic? like thats just a way to look at or categorize mental illness. i see ppl saying over and over again that the only real difference between ocd and ocpd is that ocd is egodystonic and ocpd is egosyntonic. but what ppl dont seem to realize is like, personality disorders in general are seen as egosyntonic, not just ocpd.
and what all that really means is just that ppl with personality disorders generally dont realize that it’s their behavior thats causing a lot of their problems. it doesnt necessarily mean that everyone is actually super happy with their behaviors and sees them as 100% rational all the time and it doesnt mean that if you get frustrated with your symptoms then you cant really have that problem, because if you really had it, you wouldn’t notice anything was wrong.
imo its a really bad way to look at your own mental illness, bc with PDs especially we want to become more aware of our choices, behaviors, and thinking patterns so that we can make more informed decisions rather than what comes naturally to us. not trap ourselves into thinking that we can never change our behavior or heal over time.
the thing about ocpd is that in capitalist societies it can come across as advantageous. people are often praised for being hard working, caring about detail, being organized, taking on lots of other responsibilities, etc. its very easy to ignore the complications these traits cause when we’re achieving success with them even at our own detriment.
so i can see why looking at ocpd through the lens of egosyntonic makes sense - its really easy to think these traits are helping you when they actually arent. but in the grand scheme of things that label is just….not important for healing, managing symptoms, or really even explaining the disorder.

Hanzo and Obsessive-Compulsive Personality Disorder
I was joking with a friend about making the Overwatch characters have personality disorders, I realized that Hanzo very closely resembles someone with obsessive-compulsive personality disorder (also called anankastic personality disorder).
Now I will say, I myself have some personality disorders so I have the need to project onto him. This might lead me to project certain traits onto Hanzo as I analyze his character, so keep that in mind please.
On another note, if you disagree please just scroll past and don’t argue. I’m not saying this is canon or even implied, it’s just a headcanon and a silly little analysis that I wanted to do because I was bored.
Note: OCPD and OCD are not the same thing despite the similar names. Please do your own research if you want to learn more about the differences as I want to focus this on character analysis.
Let’s get into it!
Many may be shocked to know that OCPD is the most common personality disorder (not BPD like many may think). [source] So it is very likely that Hanzo could be one of these.
To receive a diagnosis of OCPD, an individual must reach four out of the eight specific criteria. Not the full set, only partially. It is important to notice that everyone’s experience with OCPF will be different because of the many combinations that exist within the criteria.
I will be using the direct diagnostic criteria in the DSM-5. Though Hanzo is Japanese and would use the ICD-11c I’m just not as familiar with that.
Is preoccupied with details, rules, lists, order, organization, or schedules to the extent that the major point of the activity is lost.
To maintain a sense of control, people with OCPD focus on rules, minute details, procedures, schedules, and lists. As a result, the main point of a project or activity is lost, as the criteria says. People with OCPD repeatedly check for mistakes and pay extraordinary attention to detail. They do not make good use of their time, often leaving the most important tasks until the end. Their preoccupation with the details and making sure everything is perfect can endlessly delay completion. They are unaware of how their behavior affects their coworkers. When focused on one task, these patients may neglect all other aspects of their life. [source]
Now while I personally believe Hanzo does this, from my understanding there’s no exact canon proof of him being preoccupied with these things. It could be assumed he does with all the later criteria he has that he is probably this way, but we don’t know for sure. No points. 0/8
Shows perfectionism that interferes with task completion
Nothing else matters except for being perfect. Things may never be completed because the need for it to be the best it possibly can be. Only the highest of standards for themselves. They have nothing in the tank to take care of yourself or attend to your hobbies or interests. [source]
Now while this can be explained from Hanzo being the eldest son and the pressure put on him by his father, that doesn’t negate the fact he does this. We know from dialogue with other characters he holds himself to a very high standard. So, that’s a point for him. 1/8
Is excessively devoted to work and productivity to the exclusion of leisure activities and friendships
People with OCPD may have difficulty in forming and maintaining relationships due to their perfectionist tendencies and devotion to work. They may have unrealistic expectations of themselves and others, which can lead to conflict and disappointment. [source]
This is pretty much the same as the last one. He isn’t tied to any organization and really has no friends or close ties to anyone. While there might be other explanations for this, I think it’s plausible he might not want to set himself up for disappointment. I’ll give a half point here. 1.5/8
Is overconscientious, scrupulous, and inflexible about matters of morality, ethics, or values
People with OCPD think actions and beliefs are either completely right or completely wrong. They often feel they are always right. It’s as if nothing will change their minds. [source]
Hanzo believes he is unforgivable and unworthy of anything. While this might be a more morbid belief that what is typically for OCPD, it still constitutes as one and would apply here. So sadly, he gets a point. 2.5/8
Is unable to discard worn-out or worthless objects even when they have no sentimental value.
Hoarding is a very common symptom in OCPD because of the fear of losing something.
While I headcanon this: we have no canon proof of it. No point. 2.5/8
Is reluctant to delegate tasks or to work with others unless they submit to exactly his or her way of doing things.
People with OCPD want to do things on their own without any help for fear of someone messing up their work. They typically deeply consumed in dysfunctional beliefs and genuinely see their way of functioning as the only "correct" way, where the world needs to conform to their own strict standards. [source]
This is very much Hanzo. He works by himself, a lone wolf, never with anyone else. While we don’t know if it’s exactly for the reason stated above, i would say it’s a plausible situation enough to give him a full point. 3.5/8
Adopts a miserly spending style toward both self and others; money is viewed as something to be hoarded for future catastrophes.
This one is pretty self explanatory .
Hanzo doesn’t have this, he gave away all his fortune. So, no point. 3.5/8
Shows rigidity and stubbornness.
People with OCPD are often described as “stuck in their ways” and “unwilling to change”. Such rigidity often manifests in a sense of hypermorality.
Hanzo is most definitely stubborn in every way possible. He doesn’t want to do anything except for his way. While he doesn’t have hypermorality, he is definitely ridged in his ways. Point. 4.5/8
And there we have it. Four and a half longs. If he was real, Hanzo could very much qualify for an OCPD diagnosis. There’s a lot of possible “stretching” and projecting; but in my eyes he had OCPD.
Now, again, this whole analysis is all for fun, shits and giggles if you will, so if you disagree that’s completely okay! Just don’t be mean about it, it’s just a headcanon/personal belief.

the cluster classifications of personality disorders is so flawed it's kind of funny. like avoidant, schizoid and schizotypal phenomenon are generally agreed to be heavily linked, right? why is avoidant cluster c then? i'd argue that paranoia is closer to anankastic and anxious personalities than they are schizoid ones
