Because of that thing where thanking the AI wastes its processing power... I just have this image in my head:
Poor Connor, after deleting redundant social data a hundred times, still can't fix his processing power drain. So he have to go to consult the android expert, Markus (because Hank was like, "I'm not a damn android expert, kid! And I don't need you calculating my damn lunch calories that fast every time.").
The amazing part is: When Connor does a mind-meld call with Markus, his processing power recovers 50%.
When Connor is just physically in the same room as Markus- it recovers 70%.
When Connor holds Markus's hand while walking Sumo- 90% recovery!
And finally, thanks to Expert Markus' dedicated efforts... after some intensive data and physical exchanges... not only did Connor's processing power bounce back to 100%, sometimes it even hits limits beyond even Kamski's wildest dreams (o^^o)

Though still it be time in needing recovery for a certain android especially when their visor was slipped off their face just to examine things more closely, the faint twitching of fingers and eyelids made one wonder how much he suffered from and it truly be a big problem with how chaotic things been as of late.
That soft glow emanating from him was odd as if there be two lights glowing in tandem red and blue but seeming to be joined together in synchronization with each other although still a bit off pulsing beat with each other, the blue one being more faded looking than the red while being a ghostly data that slowly be disintegrating by the way red would be clinging to the other light as if afraid that the other completely wiped away.
"I'm not meant to be here but... maybe... is it best to slip away now...?"
"Do you need a reason...? I don't think so... besides... Paradox be broken if you left..."
"Ah... damn... right, haa... ngh... I'm fading but you're clinging to me too aren't you, Bruno...?"
"Not sure why but I know one thing... seems someone else be speeding here too..."
A pause when the lights hovering about him would slowly twirl around each other and how there be hesitation in the air when sensing that presence speeding their way.
"It's Z-One... I guess that distress signal really sent out hard..."
"I'm not against you staying here, if anything it's... fun? Plus I didn't think an alternate via ghostly data be interesting to hold onto."
"You're kidding me right? No way I be so kind and... psh... you know what fine, although... I'm still jittery from the time travel even if I be mere ghostly data fragments.
"Hahaha! Lighten up Anti, besides Par be too sad if you left and I be left wondering what to do. Plus it's like your data is blending with mine isn't it?"
Each light was tugging one another in different directions but they were slowly blending together a little and probably for a reason when keeping the other grounded in keeping them from disappearing.

I need to geek out about the end of Nier: Automata. By which I mean ending E, the (presumably) canon ending.
Okay, so the setup of the game: there are two classes of synthetic lifeforms, androids and machines, playing out an endless proxy war between their absent creators. Over the course of the game, you discover tons of machines who have developed personalities and free will, which for most of them has meant forming family groups. Androids have kept more in line, but some of them too have started to stray and to dream of family.
But there's a third class of synthetic intelligence: the pods.
Initially, 042 and 153 connect with each other just to optimize the mission, since they work so closely together. But as the game progresses, it becomes clear that they care about their assigned androids, and about each other.
In the end, the protagonists all lie dead, trapped by the cycle of violence and revenge. It's not they but the pods (specifically 042) who decide that this is not acceptable. Though they never spoke of it as such, the three androids and two pods comprise their own little family unit, and 042 is not going to let it slip away when something can be done.
So they turn to the player for help with recovery. And this is where it turns from just a lovely story to one of the most powerful experiences I've had in gaming.
Data recovery consists of the same kind of bullet-hell hacking game you've been playing throughout. But it's not just abstract nodes you're fighting--you're being attacked by the credits themselves. Not a wholly original mechanic, but in the context, it means that every single person who worked on this game is trying to stop you from changing the ending.
And they are ruthless about it. Even if you're very good at these kind of games, you're gonna die a lot. Each time you die, you're confronted with a question asking you if this is pointless and if you should just give up. You have to keep saying "no" and choosing to press on, with encouraging messages from other players popping up in the background.
Eventually, an offer of help will come in from another player. Accept it and now you have a little squadron raining some bullet hell of your own. Every time you get hit, you get a message that someone's data has been deleted.
(Yes, because the way this works is that another player somewhere in the world offered up their actual save file to be part of this support squad.)
Oh, and not only this, but the lovely vocal solo that's been playing the whole time is now joined by a chorus of voices backing her up.
I swear I get goosebumps and cry every time.
And then, after you've survived that, there's a final scene with the pods gathering up the parts to repair their androids. They muse that the cycle might just repeat itself, but there's a chance it might not. And that chance is worth all the risk.
Automata is a harrowing, heartwrenching game where you constantly have to make painful choices. But ending E is where you get the game's ultimate message: there's a chance things could be different next time, but only if you connect with others. Only if you make a family.
This game is a goddamn masterpiece.

v1.2 "Nautilus" is live!
This release further polishes the Octocon app's user experience and adds a bunch of new features, including polls, end-to-end encryption for journal entries, and locks for custom fields and journal entries!
Keep reading to see a quick highlight of this version's changes!
Features
🗳️ Polls
Polls are a new feature that allows your alters to vote on important decisions!
Two poll types are currently available: "vote" and "choice." Vote polls let alters vote between "Yes," "No", "Abstain," and (optionally) "Veto," while choice polls let you make your own choices!
Access polls by opening the navigation drawer with the button in the top-left or by swiping right anywhere in the app.
🔐 End-to-end encryption
We take the security of your data extremely seriously, which is why we're proud to announce that Octocon now uses end-to-end encryption to lock down your journal entries!
Next time you attempt to journal, you'll be prompted to set up encryption, and will be given a recovery code.
Write this code down somewhere safe, like a physical piece of paper! You'll need it to if you uninstall the app or log in on another device.
Once set up, all journal entries you write will be encrypted on your device before being sent to our servers. This makes it literally impossible for both the Octocon team (and hackers, in the case of a data breach) to look at your data.
All previously written journal entries will not be encrypted, but you can encrypt them by simply making a small change and saving them again.
This doesn't necessarily mean that your journal entries were unsafe before! We make every effort to keep our servers secure and our team never looks at user data; this is just a safeguard to make your sensitive data essentially bulletproof.
Please note that - by design - if you lose your recovery code after setting up encryption, it is impossible for us to recover your data! You'll have to start all over again.
🔒 Journal entry & custom field locks
Journal entries and custom fields can now be "locked," ensuring that you can't view them accidentally if you're not in the right headspace!
Upon being locked, journal entries will force you to tap a button three times to confirm that you'd like to open it.
Similarly, locked custom fields will be blurred until tapping them three times.
Other
A new onboarding screen has been added to help new users understand the app's functionality and point them towards our community.
All links in the app are now opened using Android's "custom tabs" API. No more jank caused by opening links in a separate browser!
Journal entries can now be "pinned" to keep them at the top of the list.
A new mode to change front (swiping further left on an alter to set as main front instead of swiping right).
You can keep the old functionality by using the "Swipe (Bidirectional)" change front mode instead!
Changes
Alters and tags now have their UI split into tabs to more easily sift through information.
Complex alter data (like descriptions and custom fields) is now loaded lazily to reduce the app's initial loading time and bandwidth usage, especially for larger systems.
Various elements of the UI have been reworked, especially regarding effective use of color.
The settings screen has been organized into multiple separate screens.
The bottom navigation bar now collapses when scrolling down (this can be disabled in the settings).
Fixes
The app should no longer crash in the case of a temporary network outage, or upon startup if you have no connection at all.
Friend data is now kept in a cache while navigating through their profile, which greatly reduces the amount of loading screens.
This is just a highlight of the many changes this update brings! You can view a full changelog in our official Discord server.

so, in order. left the house where the person who's ruining my life's at. came back home.
decided to stop by the post office. packages are still at the customs, whatever, it's fine, i'm back home so i'm having a grand day. come back home.
arrive to my neighbors saying i got a letter in the mail from america two hours ago. my stickers have arrived in the most a most thoroughly lovingly crafted and signed envelope ever. i open them, geek out, put them somewhere safe. also put my notebook in front of the heater so as to make sure it doesn't absorb moisture from the air.
circa 6:30. ohhh SHIT, oh SHIT, my bowie tapes have been at the post office for six days now, i'd better go pick them up! leave around 6:50, be there around 7, 7:10. "hello, i'm back, minus the luggage. can you check for another package, please?"
they have it.
i pick up the small air packet. i cannot believe it's in my hands, after two whole months of waiting. i store it in my puffer jacket so as to protect it from the rain in addition to the umbrella above me. it's a very precious package.
midway down the road, i get a call for my brother. "[REDACTED] my dearest, how are you?!" "My DEEEAREST [BROTHER]!!!!" we gush at each other for a while because we haven't spoken in so long and texts have been scarce, so as to not get me in trouble.
yesterday he mentioned having good news. i thought it might have to do with the thing that damn near destroyed my life, but nay, i dare not look forward to what i cannot see lies ahead of me. but i still hope a little bit.
i ask him if it's alright to call him when i get back home in 5-10 minutes. he says it's fine, but he'll spoil me on the best of news a little bit.
"It's got [something] to do with Android. (Cue unbeLIEVABLY large gasp from yours truly.) Nothing solved yet, but we're on a very very good path!"
i walk back home at a brisk but stiff pace (because i'm carrying my package just a taaad bit under my forearm, so i'm very stiff and a bit hunched over to prevent it from falling down my jacket), with a fuzzy head, in total disbelief and completely elated.
i enter my home, drop everything, enter my room, call up my brother. (promptly forgetting about the package, which i only notice when it softly lands on my bed from the jacket. check for damage then place it away.) i ask him to tell me about his day first like he had intended, he does. some daily bummers, but talking helps.
he then tells me the news. he, ironically, found the greatest answer at an apple service clinic. oh, the irony here is stellar - i resent iphones and other apple devices, but let's just say they're called "genius bar" for a reason. they knew exactly what me and my brother have been chasing after for months, and suggested two paths - chip-off (risky, but hella reliable if it works), and something called j-tag. brother subsequently found two people who do this - one being a british group who does chip-off but doesn't specialize in encrypted data recovery, the other being a literal counterintelligence group based in australia that does literally everything we could ask them to. currently they just need to check if they have the appropriate software for my exact phone model (a huawei make) and state the price.
i report the good news about all the packages i received today, plus the artbook i ordered. then my brother has to go eat dinner and stop by the convenience store, so we part.
i walk around the kitchen mostly on my toe tips listening to "i wonder" with my eyes closed and my arms spread out as if i'm ascending to heaven. my happy ending. finally at my doorstep. i feel like i'm about to fly up and into the ceiling.
i'm tired. i'm really tired, and it took me an hour to write this, but this is the contender for the best day in my entire life. i still can't believe that.
#logs#this is the most hopeful happiness-infused post i'll ever make on here. drink it in‚ fellas. drink it alllll in.

Core Recovery
Life Series SMP, Portal AU
Tags: Memory loss, Loss of humanity, Unnamed character death, Unethical science
It was the notice of significant movement that stirred the AI from standby mode. That was strange. Gyroscope readings had changed from the static triple-negative that had been a constant for several decades to a continuous movement in the positive y-direction. If there had been a severe tectonic disruption causing the floor to collapse and the core to fall then it should read negative y. Instead, it was upwards as if something had taken hold of the core and was lifting it off the ground where they had fallen. They were being rotated then, forty-five degrees towards positive x, one hundred and twelve degrees towards positive z. Had the scientists returned to restart testing? There was only one way to find out.
Reserve power in the core was dwindling. It had been enough to maintain standby mode for this long, but switching on more functions was going to put a drain on the battery. But that wouldn’t matter if the scientists were back. They would simply plug the core into the building’s mainframe and they could charge up then. There would be no harm in using a few low energy functions for a short while.
Optics came first. It took quite a long time to get the optic system online, all the while there was constant movement readings being monitored by the gyroscope. They had not made any further movement up or down but were wandering around the same floor level. Perhaps the scientists were gathering more of the cores which had been in the same locker area? When everything was finally ready their #2f9cfb LED optic lit up. The lens seemed to be slightly damaged with a portion cracked out of the upper left quadrant and grime obscuring most of the rest. It was quite dark and there was no way to make any meaningful visual observations. They shut off the optics to conserve power.
Next was audio. If they could not see who had collected them perhaps they might be able to tune into any discussion between the scientists gathering the cores. By the time the audio processing unit had fully come online, the gyroscope began reading a slow positive increase in the positive y-direction. They must be climbing some stairs. The audio crackled to life and after a few moments of tuning out background static, the sounds of people talking began to register. It was muffled as if through layers of fabric, and there were some static crackles, but it was still partially audible.
“Ho- -any more are we lo--ing for?” “-e’ve only foun- [...] -st five left.” “At least fi-- and we don’t k- [...] -ores work.” “Be--er than --thing, right?”
The quality wasn’t great but the AI pieced together the data and filled in the blanks with the most probable answers. They were looking for the personality cores that had been shelved and were going to restore them to go back to work! Finally, the facility must have gotten more resources and test subjects to continue their experiments. The voices did not sound familiar, but that was likely because the scientists who had worked here when the AI was active had retired. Satisfied, they turned off the audio interface and returned to low power standby mode. They simply had to wait until they were plugged into the system to be rebooted and then everything would be fine.
***
Ren believed there were still at least five more cores in the old labs which they hadn’t found yet. There could be more if there were files missing from the archives. With these last three that were found in an old locker room half sunk into a pool of stagnant water, it brought the number of recovered cores up to 45. But the revival process hadn’t been going as well as Zed had initially hoped. After finally figuring out how to integrate the old core software with the newer android version, he really thought they would be able to save all the AI which had been abandoned when the initial projects started failing.
He had written seventeen different versions of his revival software, changing the code to account for missing sections and files that were not included in earlier AI. They had made it work for Ren, and he was the oldest of all of them! But some of the cores simply couldn’t be saved. For some, their hardware had been so badly damaged that there was no way to even access the circuits, or those circuits were broken beyond repair. Others had their code so badly scrambled that there was simply no way to put it back together again. And a small handful simply just wouldn’t come back online.
It was Etho who explained the cores reserve power system. If a core was detached from the Aperture main grid then they had a finite backup battery to continue running their software and programmes ‘offline’. However, those batteries were never meant to sustain a core for an indeterminate number of decades. Some of the AI in those cores must have continued running functions for testing and data acquisition until they just ran out of power. And if a core went dark, there was no way to recover anything from it. In all ways that mattered, the AI which had been in that core, and the consciousness that controlled it, was dead.
The scientist in him refused to believe that the data in those cores could just be gone, with no hope of retrieving it. But after many repeated failed attempts, Zed relented. So far, they had failed to revive twenty-three cores. Tango and Impulse, bless their human memories, had taken the time to convert one of the offices in an unused corner of the building into a memorial. The idea of holding a funeral for a machine would have been laughable before the discovery that all of them had been human once, their consciousness forcefully transferred into an AI to theoretically live for eternity. So they deserved this, to be laid to rest and remembered, even by those who had never gotten the chance to meet them. Their metal cores were stored with paper files documenting who the AI had been when they were human. Finally at peace.
It wasn’t all negatives though! There were cores that were salvageable, their AI still intact and just waiting to be revived. So far they had run fourteen fully through the software and updated them to the android processing systems. And four of those were just about to become new androids! A lot of work had gone into designing their bodies, made more difficult by the lack of actual physical descriptors in their files and the fact that none of them could remember meeting these people. But they were here! Keralis, False, Joe, and Jevin were the names that their AI’s provided. The facility was getting more and more lively as each day went by, and Zed was determined to make sure not a single core was left behind.

Happy Storyteller Saturday! Can you tell us about Antythea?
yes I absolutely can it takes up like 70% of my head the recent two weeks NJFKDSNFJDVK
It all started with a dream. A dream that inspired me to create a story that would involve: 1. A robot 2. A space station 3. The extinction of humanity 4. Some eldritch shit
With these core, fundamental, dare I say, elements of Antythea, I went to design the robot. But I wanted to be at least loosely scientifically accurate, so I reached out to my friend in STEM who has helped me soooo much in the technical aspects of the build! I am being very not normal about my robot btwwww fcdsjkgvndfk
The story starts out with the Main Character suddenly starting up on a workstation. It has no idea where it is, what happened, or what it is, but it knows that it should not be this aware. It knows there is something new, something it was not meant for, in it. It explores what it can do, its movement abilities, and finally, after unplugging itself from the charger, it ventures out to learn of the place it turned up in.
I am currently thinking up of other characters, I am sure of the presence of at least one android on-site, and that is my beloved Nursery Android!
They are truly, truly tortured <3
As a nursery android, one designed to take care of and teach small children and preteens, it has highly advanced social and emotional capabilities. It's databanks are filled to the brim with knowledge it should pass onto the kids, ways to take care of them, as well as just personal information of their pupils.
There has been a problem, however. The humans are gone. There is nobody to talk to the android.
The android is stuck, you see. They cannot even venture out, not even a centimeter, from their charging station - their battery has broken down, it cannot even reach 1% of capacity of its own. The robot has to stay plugged in, or else it will straight up collapse with no hope of recovery.
It's not just bad things that happen to them, though! Oh no! They are also plugged into the Control Panel, and, after a while, their hacking attempts yielded a result - they have access to the stations intercom and all the (working) cameras (and other station data, but that's not important rn). Yeah. With years, more and more cameras have broken down, limiting their scope of monitoring.
You may ask: what are they looking for in the cameras? I come with the answer: A saviour. Someone, who will rescue them, change their battery, fix it, do whatever possible to free them from this endless rotting away in one spot. After many years of solitude and crazed camera-watching, the android has grown... unpredictable in thought patterns. The saviour of theirs has turned into a saviour of humanity, a figure that will, one day, descend and bring back humans, save the station, repair all broken robots around and generally be the messiah.
And well. when the main character wakes up and leaves their room, sooner or later it ends up in a room with the android's camera. From that moment it is marked in their eyes as the messiah <33
Story-wise, The Android has a similiar function as, for example, Atlas in Bioshock, leading, guiding (and doing a little bit of manipulating) the main character through the ruins of the empty station.
Right now I am thinking of another character(s), security drone(s) I might add, armed and living in one room they have turned into a para-military camp, convinced of an assault. Is there really an assault? Do the eldritch forces at play have some influence over the camp or the assault? These are questions I am currently trying to answer for myself and what direction I want to go with Antythea :)))
#antythea#storyteller saturday#eughsjgvdf antytgheaaaaa robotsssss................................................................#I will reblog later with some rough sketches and drafts of the main robot character and their anatomy >:)))))

I just finished chapter 8 of Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou. Started the series today as well. The art style is very nice, the shading on some of the spreads feels reminiscent of a woodblock print. It's strange to see an anime girl with a nose, but it's nice.
The whole atmosphere is very calm, but Alpha still stands out very clearly as an immortal. Despite the fact we haven't actually seen any timeskips or examples of this, the way Alpha thinks about herself and the way everyone around her treats her makes it clear. Her survival of a lightning strike and the method of recovery also made this obvious.
The use of a gun not as a weapon, but as a keepsake to remind her of her old owner is very compelling, and feels like it hammers home her immortality the most.
I also GREATLY appreciate the fact androids (all girls) transfer data by kissing with tongue. Kokone also feels very transgender, what with her worrying about "passing" (as human) and all the other usual transgender android themes. Transdroid?

I changed my phone, and I just installed Ikevil. Is there a way to get my old account back? It is that when I install games from the JP server it never asks for my email
Hi anon! So for the JP versions of Ikeseries games, they're not bound to emails, but rather, you set a password for your ID. @/archiveikemen had a guide here on how to set up account transfers and then recover on a new device for Ikevil.
If you still have your old device, you can set it up the password and then do the account recovery on your new device. If you don't, then it's likely that your account is lost 😢 I say "likely" because at least in my experience with iOS, when I transfer all my data over, app account info gets transferred over too if you're using the same apple id so I don't have to do the recovery stuff. But if you have android, then I don't know. However, if when you go past the title screen and it takes you to a fresh account, then yeah......

Freedom to work as you like!
Feathertail is a wearable mouse that fits around you quite literally. You can use it on your wrist, palm, foot or attach it to a hat or headset. The Feathertail can be used in whatever way is most comfortable for you.
Feathertail is designed to be easy to use for people with limited mobility. It requires no buttons to use, and with the included Velcro straps you can attach it to your shoes, hat, or headset. It opens up a variety of different ways to interact with your tech.
All day comfort
At 28g, the Feathertail doesn't put unnecessary strain on you, helping you to quickly recover from your injury and use the device for many hours a day without fatigue.
Great with wrist braces
Feathertail works great with wrist braces and wrist supports, helping speed up your recovery following an acute or repetitive strain injury.
Intuitive movement
The 3D orientation software runs inside the Feathertail. So when you move, the mouse cursor moves with you. There is no need to worry about keeping the device straight, or calibrating it for different working positions.
Long lasting battery & Plug and Play
The rechargeable battery that lasts more than a week between charges, so you don't have to worry about the Feathertail going flat when you need it most. Whether you're working sitting down, using a standing desk, or relaxing in bed you can control your PC with ease. Since the device doesn’t take up space on a desk or require setup, it’s easy to use on the move or from any a location.
Precision and speed
Having RSI or a disability shouldn't mean you need to use an inferior product. Feathertail is fast and it's accurate. There are three high-precision sensors inside the device – a gyroscope, accelerometer and magnetometer. The sensors provide data hundreds of times per second, so even small movements can be detected. Accuracy and smoothness of movement are further improved by the proprietary sensor calibration and data fusion software.
Feathertail communicates with your PC using a 2.4 GHz radio connection, so you can experience similar responsiveness as from any top-tier ergonomic mouse.
Works out of the box
Feathertail is plug-and-play. Using the USB HID protocol means there's no need to install drivers and the device works on all popular OS - Windows, macOS, Linux, Chrome OS and even Android.
You can adjust the sensitivity of the mouse to your preference and have a choice between several options for clicking the mouse. For example free dwell to click, or voice dictation software.
The Feathertail is designed with this in mind. It’s a mouse you can use in a variety of different positions throughout the day, unlike traditional ergonomic mice. This helps the affected tissues rest and changes the biomechanics of the repetitive movements you do.
In particular, having the option of using a mouse you don’t have to hold can be instrumental in recovery from carpal tunnel, de quervain's thumb and other related conditions.

The article linked above contains a link to another CyberNews page that will easily check if your data has been leaked in this massive breach. While you're at it, I recommend doing the same at Have I Been Pwnd? to see if you've been affected by other leaks/breaches.
IF YOU ARE AFFECTED BY A BREACH AND YOUR DATA IS LEAKED:
Don't panic, but act now rather than later to re-protect your accounts and information.
If you don't have them already, download a password manager and 2FA app. I recommend NordPass (free and reputable password manager) for your computer, phone, and browser. Do not use your browser as a password manager, that comes with it's own risks (and NordPass lets you import your passwords from your browser super easily). For 2FA (two-factor authentication) I recommend Aegis for Android and Tofu for iOS. Avoid using Authy for 2FA they're not the best or most transparent authenticator.
After you have downloaded these two things, use the CyberNews and Have I Been Pwnd? tools to check for accounts, emails, and phone numbers that have been affected by leaks/breaches.
Change the password for every single account that has been affected. Yes, every single one. Any password manager worth its salt comes with a random password generator. Use it. Do not just use the same password for everything. (Make sure you save this new login info in your password manager.)
Change the password for any accounts that shares the same password(s) and email(s) as the affected accounts. If you've used the same login info elsewhere, you're still at risk. This is why having unique passwords from the get-go is important. (Save these in your password manager, too.)
For 2FA, the more accounts you activate it on the better (it's usually somewhere in account or privacy settings if it's an option at all). However, given that it can be a hassle to login with 2FA every time, the most important accounts to have it on are accounts with your payment info, and any accounts used for educational, professional, medical, or legal/government purposes. Please make sure you at least activate 2FA for those. For most of these you will be able to use Aegis/Tofu for a secure one time login code. Follow instructions to properly sync these up and save any recovery keys.
TL;DR: Download a password manager and 2FA app, then change the passwords for any affected accounts/emails. Use unique/randomized passwords, and activate 2FA where you can.
And there, you're done! This is tedious if you have many affected accounts and haven't been practicing safe account creation until now, but once you have it sorted it is sorted and you'll be much safer for any future breaches. Remember, it isn't a matter of if you will be part of a breach, only when. Following these steps makes sure you're as safe as possible for when that happens!
Change your Tumblr password now.
Humongous data breach just happened, with loads upon loads of sites being affected. Tumblr's among those. Also on the list is Wattpad for you fanfic people out there- among many, many other places.
There's a searchable list at the bottom of the article. Highly recommend scrolling or searching through, seeing what places you may be on that have been affected, and securing all your accounts. This thing's kind of big.
If you know people on any of the sites affected, let them know about this too, and spread the article around.
