CASEY (softly): What is it? It’s a machine. For remembering. It’s just you and me now. Mister John left a while ago.

[Silence. The occasional fabric shift. Then Casey begins humming—slow, hypnotic, almost familiar.]

CASEY: I was quiet today. Like you taught me. I folded my hands at lunch. I didn’t talk, even when they kicked my chair. You said good kids get remembered. …I want to be remembered too.

[Another pause. Casey hums again—same lullaby pattern noted in Hoffman’s logs. Words still indistinct.]

CASEY (closer to the mic): I’m sorry I told Mister John about you. I know you don’t like him. But… he saw you. No one saw you before.

[A small sniff. Emotion restrained.]

CASEY: He said you’re old magic. Said you’ve been here longer than the house. Longer than Daddy. But I already knew that.

[The lullaby returns—low and unbroken.]

CASEY:They don’t like you, Yaya. Mister John, says you’re hurting. Alfred says I shouldn’t talk to you.

[Distortion. Something creaks—heavier now, deeper. Not mechanical.]

CASEY (sharp whisper): Did you hear that? …I think someone’s coming.

[Movement. The mic muffles—likely hidden beneath blanket or pillow.]

CASEY (muffled): I have to hide you, Mister Tape. Stay quiet, okay?

[Several seconds pass. Then—knock. Door opens.]

DICK (muffled): Casey? You there?

CASEY: Yes.

DICK: Hey, kiddo. How you doing?

CASEY (uncertain): I’m okay.

[Soft footsteps. Chair creaks.]

DICK: Mind if I sit? (Beat) I, uh… I brought you that book. The one with the moon and the rabbits? You used to love that one. Was gonna give it to you for your birthday but I—

CASEY (quietly): —Was busy?

DICK (softly): (Sighs) Yeah. Sorry, kiddo.

[Pause. Casey hums quietly, almost like background static.]

DICK: So, hey, what’re you working on? Looks like you’re drawing?

CASEY: Yeah.

DICK: What are you drawing?

CASEY (after a beat): It’s not done.

DICK: Can I see?

[Paper rustles.]

CASEY (flat): No.

DICK (gentle): That’s okay. You can show me later if you want. (Beat) You know, Damian likes to draw too. You ever wanna—

CASEY (quickly): No.

DICK: No?

CASEY: I don’t wanna draw with him. (softer) He’s mean.

DICK: (Sighs) C’mon, Case. I know he’s a little prickly, but I think he’d like you if—

CASEY: He won’t. He said so.

DICK: Did he?

CASEY: I tried to borrow his paints. He got mad.

DICK: Casey, you know you have to ask when—

CASEY: I did. He still got mad.

[Pause. Paper shifts again.]

DICK: …Okay. We don’t have to talk about it now. Maybe another day.

[Silence. A faint tapping—like nails on wood.]

DICK: Tim said you’ve been having trouble sleeping. I used to have nightmares too, when I was little. Sometimes I still do.

CASEY: Do yours talk back?

[Beat. DICK doesn’t respond immediately.]

DICK (soft): No. Mine were just shadows. But if yours talk… maybe they’re not dreams.

[Bed creaks softly as Casey shifts.]

CASEY: She says you're sorry.

DICK: …Is she right?

CASEY: You left. You were gone a long time. She says you only came back cause I’m not being good anymore. Cause I’m acting weird.

DICK (a little broken): That’s not true.

CASEY (calm, flat): She said you’d say that.

[Long silence. The hum of the recorder fills the space. Casey hums again, the same lullaby. DICK doesn’t speak.]

DICK (quiet, like a promise): I’m here now. Even if you don’t want me to be. I’m staying.

[Rocking sound resumes—slow, rhythmic.]

CASEY (barely audible): Okay.

[Silence. A flicker of distortion.]

DICK: We can read that book later. Right before bed, okay?

[Recording cuts out.]

Absolute CRACK BatFic Idea:

An AU where Tim knows Batman needs a Robin and discovers (somehow) that Bruce Wayne has a biological son and sets out on a quest to kidnap Damian into become the new Robin.

It’s like “Fine! Dick doesn’t want it and Jason’s dead. If Bruce Wayne needs a son to turn into Robin, I’m going to go get him one!”

Too competent, no awareness Tim Drake (very fandom Tim Drake I know but listen…. It’d be funny!) hacking into the League of Assassin computers (sneaks into the cave during Bruce’s solo patrols to connect his personal laptop to get access to the BatNet) so he can talk to Damian (small boi, very sweet, was never taught internet safety because who the fuck could be talking to him on the LoA’s intranet!) and get his location.

Tim waiting months, befriending Damian the whole time, until Talia takes Damian to one of the Leagues’ European safe houses, all the while promising Damian that he’s his friend and he wants to meet but his mom is too protective.

Tim: you can’t tell her. She’ll make us stop talking.

Damian: but what if I convince her we’re friends?

Tim: hmmm let’s wait until I can see you in person! That way we can convince her together!

Maybe they’re in Paris (it’s always Paris) when Tim meets and admits the reason he’s talking to Damian is because he knows his dad who sent him to bring him home (lie).

“I’m friends with his eldest son,” Tim says, you know… like a liar. (But he did snap a selfie with Dick for this exact purpose because oh holy contingencies Batman. “I can take you to your dad.”

And Damian is unsure and resists but than Tim points out Talia never tells Damian when he’ll get to see his dad. “And isn’t taking initiative something encourages by the LoA, Dami?”

Anyway, Tim gets Damian on that plane fast enough (and with Damian’s help and Tim’s tech savvy sneakily enough) to avoid the ninjas. Until it’s 8 hour later and Tim is knocking on the door (he’d tricked Dick into visiting for the weekend because he knows he’s going to need the older boy to smooth all this over) like “TA-DA! NEW SON ALERT!”

Cue fallout and Dick and Bruce quickly realizing they’ve got two new kids in the house because Talia is going to have to pry sweet baby, naive, adorably arrogant 6 year old Damian from Bruce’s cold dead fingers and also “Oh my god we need to fix this little stalker neighbor boy before he becomes a new rogue.”

(Side Note: this could so easily be a horror fic from limited POV like from Damian’s POV :D where the audience doesn’t know who Damian is talking to while he’s being stalked and eventually kidnapped. Until the end it’s revealed to be Tim who’d have never hurt Damian and actually did bring him to Gotham to meet Bruce!)

霞デザインin琵琶湖

いつもあまり深く考えずとりあえず出たとこ勝負が身上の霞デザインオフィス。考えるよりまず行動することで生まれるミラクルの味は格別です。でもルアー作りに関しては深く深く考えて作ってます。BOSSが。多分（笑）。5月に���売したウエイクチャター、リリースを目前に控えているノンスタックジグはビッグバスを相手にどこまでやれんだ！？という衝動に駆られ、気がついたら滋賀県に向けてハンドルを切っていました。

初日はタコ師匠の独り舞台。

BOSSの古くからのオトモダチ、タコ山本師匠。笑顔が素敵な大阪の気のイイおっちゃんって雰囲気で僕らを迎えてくれました。「スモラバなんて使ったことありまへん」って言ってたくせに、BOSSが渡したノンスタックジグを投入した途端、2500g頭にポッコポコ釣ってWolf in sheep's clothing（羊の皮を着た狼）ぶりを発揮。さすがだぜ、タコ師匠＆スモラバを使ったことがないベテランアングラーにノンスタックジグを受け入れてもらったことはすごく自信になりました。

BATNET総帥・西田さんのスーパー南湖ガイド

画質が粗いのは西田さんのブログから画像をかっぱらったからなので安心してください（謎）中一日空けて（二日目はBATNETトーナメントに参戦していたので）琵琶湖最終日はBOSSの旧友でもありBATNET代表の西田剛さん案内の下撮影をスタート。僕自身、琵琶湖に通いはじめて随分経ちますが、所謂「ガイド」というサービスを利用したことがなくて、ガイドとはどういうものなのかというのを全く知りませんでしたが、場所の解説はもちろん釣れそうなイメージ作りまで、「流石！」と思わせてくれた西田さん。当日、僕は釣りしてないですけど、撮影中に琵琶湖のことで気になってたことなんかを質問すると的確に答えてくださって、今後の琵琶湖釣行の参考になりました。西田さんありがとうございました！

結論。ノンスタックジグは琵琶湖に受け入れられた。

そんな西田さんのガイドで、BOSSが遂に3キロクラスのバスを捕獲！もちろんノンスタックジグでございます。試合からプライベートまで、ノンスタックジグはほんとに凄かった。琵琶湖でスモラバを使う人があまり居ないということもあったと思いますけど、それにしても琵琶湖でノンスタが有効な場面が想像していたよりもあったというのが解っただけでも収穫でした。この時のことがあったから自分がプライベートでいったときの参考になりましたしね。

百聞は一見にしかず。動画でみてみてください。見慣れないヘッド形状などに違和感を感じる方も多いはず。ぶっちゃけると僕もファーストプロトを見た時かなり違和感を覚えました。ただ、テストして使って行くうちにノンスタックジグの有効性に気付き、今では外せないルアーの一つとして僕のBOXには必ず忍ばせています。正直、通常のラウンドヘッドタイプのスモラバの方が使う場面は多いと思います。でも僕が思うにボトムでの使用や、ストラクチャーやカバーに対する使用ならば、圧倒的なアドバンテージがノンスタックジグにはあると思っています。ブラインドからサイトフィッシングまで、スタックを気にしてちゃ釣れるものも釣れないってのも事実あることですからね。ラウンドヘッドでは出来ない仕事を確実にやってのける��・・そんなイメージをノンスタックジグに持っています。安永流ノンスタックジグの使い方？なんてのもそのうち書こうかなと思ってますが、なんにせよノンスタちゃん、ちょっとやりますよ、このコは。

15) something you learned this year

Hmm... this year I would say that I learned I need more practice working with long, plot-heavy, multi-chapter fics. I really liked working on Birdseye, but it was definitely Baby's First Big Plot. I think I'm going to keep doing a lot of one or two part fics, but I also want to find a way to get that muscle working to be able to juggle an entire Batnet and a supervillian or three and some plot twists and turns.

23) fics you wanted to write but didn’t

This is a hard one to think about, because I tend to jot down at least a few lines whenever I have an idea. That said, I had an idea for a Clue/Knives Out/Murder Mystery type fic, but I haven't put any words down yet because I don't have anything other than a vibe. I want it to feel like a locked manor murder mystery, but I don't have characters or themes or anything. But I want to write it so bad. Other than that, I really had hoped to get my Oracle: Year One fic to publication in 2023, but life cut me off and I lost steam. I add a few sentences in every few days (I'd say I'm currently about a quarter of the way through?) but I'm not sure when it's going to be finished.

Much to report on from just the past hour. After Fenton and I were rescued from drowning, a locust swarm attacked the herbivore camp. Fenton immediately sent out an alert to the species-specific social media app BatNet, which woke every bat in the vicinity with a call for free food. Within minutes the bats, led by Fenton’s parents, converged on the multitude. Bereft of the leader (eaten by Fenton), they scattered in a frenzied panic. N.O.P.E. turned out to be a collection of disaffected coyotes living in the Wild with extreme views on diet. They’d partnered with the locusts to ravage the camp, and they would’ve gotten away with it, too, if not for one meddling stinkbird. Thanks, Harold. N.O.P.E. was counting on the locusts to leave the Herbivore Camp as bare, denuded plain with no cover for the young plant eaters to hide from them. Needless to say, it was a battle plan that didn’t survive contact with reality. Before N.O.P.E. came out into the open the counselors had organized a defense with Coney front and center. She made us all proud, but it wasn't just her. It was all the kids of both camps working together to form a united front. They’d all bonded at last year’s camp, over a certain metaphorical construction project.

カノアツBOSSと琵琶湖にいってきたぜよ！

息子が高校を卒業し、専門学校入学。��も購入したばかりで、お父ちゃん的にはこれから益々頑張らないといけないというタイミングで『ちょっと琵琶湖に行ってくる。』ということをワイフに告げるのは少々勇気がいりましたが、意外に快く承諾してくれた今回の遠征。

一応今回の旅はれっきとした仕事でもあるんだけど、結局は釣りにいくわけですから無意識に家族のご機嫌を伺ってしまうのであります（笑）さて、話は前後してしまいますが、今回はトーナメント編から記事を書かせていただきます。何故かというとめちゃめちゃ楽しかったからに決まってますw

琵琶湖東岸にあるレークマリーナさん主催のBATNETというトーナメントに参戦させていただきました。レークマリーナの西田さんとうちのカノアツBOSSは古くからの戦友で、その西田さんから「久しぶりにBATNETに出ませんか？」とお誘いを受け急遽参戦することになったカノアツBOSS。で、せっかく琵琶湖まで行くなら色々やろうや！ってことになり動画撮影やルアーのテスト等を兼ねてノンボーターながら僕も15年ぶりくらいに本格的な琵琶湖トーナメントに参戦することになりました。

W.B.Sを離れて久しいBOSS。「やっぱええな、この雰囲気」と選手だった頃の事を思い出してました。まだまだ続けたかったはずなのに身体がいうことをきかなくなって一時的にトーナメントを退いたBOSSですが、いつかまた霞ヶ浦でトーナメンターKANO-ATUの雄姿を見たいと思っているのは僕だけではないはずですからね。

BATNETはカテゴリー1とカテゴリー2に別れています。僕が参戦したカテゴリー1はW.B.S同様、ボーターとノンボーターが組むペア戦。カテゴリー1は単独での出場です。そういうことで今回の僕のご主人様は琵琶湖でガイドもやってる��ージーノ斎藤陽さん。お会いした時になぜかケビンバンダムのトーナメントシャツを着せられて、皆さんに「バンダムや！バンダムがおるで！」と言われていました。ケビンバンダムの名前は知っていても顔はよく知らない僕はすっかり「この人があの有名なバスプロのバンダムなんだ・・・」と思い込んでしまい「バンダムさん宜しくお願いします」とご挨拶（笑）しかし実のところ、斎藤さんはアメリカのトーナメント参戦経験もあり優しい表向きとは裏腹に、内は熱い物を感じる生粋のトーナメンターなのです。

そんな感じで試合開始。斎藤さんのガイド業に影響があるので場所などの詳細は控えさせて頂きますが、南湖東岸をメインに斎藤さんのプランでランガン。一カ所目のエリアで早々に斎藤さんがキーパーをキャッチし、続けてノンスタックジグを投げていた僕にもキーパー。何を隠そうコレが今年の初バスだったりするのでまぁまぁ嬉しかったりする（笑）その後同じ場所で粘るもNOな感じだったので沖をやったりしながら、気温がグっと上がったタイミングで再び岸寄りの3mラインに入ると僕のノンスタックジグで3連発で一気にリミットメイク。そのうち一本が2500gくらいの、僕にとってはいい魚が釣れて、かなりアガりました。行く場所行く場所には確実に魚の反応があり、途中途中楽しくお話させていただいたり、トーナメント中なのに快く記念写真を撮ってくれた斎藤さんには本当に感謝です！その後、ウエイトアップのために北に移動したり各所をランガンしましたが、追加することなく終了。いや〜でも楽しかった！

トータル5570gで6位フィニッシュ。あと200gあったら5位だったのにねぇ！なんて話をしながらちょっぴり悔しい気持ちになれたのも久しぶりです。参戦して良かったし、斎藤さんとペアを組めて本当に良かった！こんな機会を作ってくれたBOSSに、関東から来たよそ者を受け入れてくださったBATNETの皆様に心から感謝です。カテゴリー1優勝のホームズ選手、北畠選手ペアはなんと10kgオーバーでした！やっぱ琵琶湖ってスゴいとこだ。。。

レイドジャパン近松選手＆BOSSペアもウエイイン！近松選手が考えていたプランがこの日は噛み合わず、惜しくも上位に食い込むことはできませんでしたが久しぶりのトーナメントを楽しんでいるBOSSの顔が印象的でした。ちなみにBOSSもノンスタックジグで釣って来ましたよ！

ノンスタックジグ・・・琵琶湖のビッグバス相手にしたらどーよ！？という思いを引っさげ、テストを兼ねて今回の琵琶湖旅を敢行したわけですが、結果無問題。多少の変更があるかもしれませんが基本BOSSもGOサイン出せそうや！と手応えを感じました。また次回記事にさせていただきますが、初日と最終日にもノンスタックジグでいい感じに釣れて上々のテストが出来たかと思います。また、プライベートフィッシングはもちろんで、今回トーナメントシーンで使用してみて「コレは確実に武器になる！」と確信。日曜日の琵琶湖はどこいっても船・船・船。ひっきりなしにバスボートが右往左往するスーパーハイプレッシャーな状況+寒の戻りで、プリスポーンの雌がムチャクチャナーバスになってる状態でしたが、それでもこのジグは連日素晴らしい魚を連れてきてくれました。その時の模様は動画でも配信致しますのでお楽しみに！
