There is nothing so affirming and life saving as leaving home and being loved at face value by total strangers for who you are

#im losing track of the genuine interactions ive had since i arrived that have all just been #so loving in so many small ways #from so many people #who have no reason to be kind or loving or to return kindness when it is offered to them #and yet they return it and offer it with such genuine joy #these are the kind of things that will save your life. i truly believe that. almost moreso than the deep network of friends you build #that's important but it becomes an echo chamber if you don't step away #and remember that you exist outside of it and the world sees you for you and not what the people back home need you to be #want you to be expect you to be #and maybe even love you in entirely platonic little ways for it #i will expand more later i am attempting a minor digital cleanse while here. there will be a nola series next week once i have processed.#but oh. i just took the slightly longer route home so i could hit Frenchman in hopes of catching a second line #followed them till they looped back to chartres and made my way home #which is a room with a kitchenette and bath in a railroad just north of st claude. by the tracks.#the bars here are more scattered. neighbors dives where everyone knows everyone and their business.#and yet they've seen me going back and forth the last two nights and days and so. they greet me warmly. wish me safely home.#one auntie blesses me with her vodka soda as i pass before blessing the two men leaving the bar. everyone laughing.#ill remember iggys fondly even if i never step inside.#a block from home a gentleman on his porch singsongs a hullo to me. i do my best to parrot it back around the spliff i lit two blocks ago.#he asks to buy a cigarette off me. regretfully im smoking my last but i offer my vape if hes open to weed. its shameful and i crack a joke #something about kids these days but it seems easy. like neighbors chuckling at midnight passing smokes over porch railings.#we talked briefly as i showed him how to use the vape. about our dinners. the storm coming in. legalization.#he asked me if i needed anything in turn. the conversation was plenty i told him. which sounds cliche and someone will say this is fiction.#but it doesnt need to be fiction to be a story about a simple moment of connection and love. i could list a dozen stories like this here.

last night me and a whole like seven rows of people saw tamino 😭

#he’s never doing two shows in chicago again #everyone came to night one and no one came to night two 😭#it’s ok it was intimate and he didn’t seem offended #he was sick and his voice was still otherworldly goddamn #it gave me chills at moments. i can’t explain how beautiful it sounds echoing through a theater #comparatively i am not sick and lost my voice going ‘woo!’#he also brought his band this time (including a cello!) and they add so much atmosphere #and he played an unreleased song! and all of the new album!#beautiful show #god bless you tamino for not cancelling even when you’re sick and tickets are barely selling 🙏

People who know me personally will know that I hate Sabrina Carpenter. Not her as a person but her music, all her songs sound the same to me.

in that fic I basically take the concept of tim dreaming about his alt universes' lives (canon) and the idea of alan not quite remembering barry (not canon, but you could read barry's absence in aw2 as alan deliberately forgetting abt him so he's far, FAR away from The Story), and have Tim recalling his (jack's) friendship with paul before time broke down while Alan being like man that sounds great :) why does this hurt though?

(...) Apparently he did that a lot, protecting me, getting me out of trouble…" A smile tugged Alan's lips with the scene, misplaced nostalgia apparently being a contagious thing. "Uh huh." He encouraged him. "This time, we…" Tim closed his eyes for a moment, trying to recall the scene. The memory that wasn't his. "We were on a road trip, or something, and God knows what I was doing, but I ended up getting arrested." Alan snorted. "Is this Sheriff Breaker's dark and troubled backstory?" "Hah! I wish. Thing is, he bailed me out, right? But not before I managed to steal this... stupid wooden ram statue from the police station." "Seriously?" "Yeah!" Tim's eyes squinted while a laugh bubbled from his lips, as if he really was telling him about his actual life, and not visions of another reality. "The bastard actually kept the statue, you know? He never let that one go, I-" His laughter stumbled a bit, but his smile didn't waver. "In the vision, no matter where he went he always brought that statue with him. A reminder. Probably to make fun of me or something." Alan's face hurt from grinning. His body wasn't used to this kind of joy anymore. His throat hurt, too, like heartburn (...)

BUT THATS NOT ALL because after stealthily pointing out the obvious parallels between pre-time break paul's and barry's relationship w/ jack and alan it asks the question what if we went further with the parallelisms? tim talking about post-time break paul without the context, just knowing that suddenly he hated his guts for some reason, and alan later (but juxtaposed in the narration) having echoes to Some Guy falling down Some Rabbit Hole, and feeling dread

it asks the question what if you met your best friend but he's a decade older and he's involved in some shady business? THATS RIGHT I lured people with tim and alan and quantumbreak only to reveal the secret topic of this fic being my Blessed Barry au 🔥🙌🔥
