To first declare, I don't really see shellvision as toxic honestly and if its perceived that way, there is a simple way to not steer into it being written like that.

like i think its more of a slowburn with a tiny bit of one sided ness, possiblities for PROPER angst, and a good conclusion with both characters, with it all starting with the fact of vee and shelly of course being friends but not exactly being the closest, at least by vees own perspective...they sorta have their own clicks outside of their 'main' friend group! so i'd think vee doesn't really go out of her way to talk to shelly unless shelly talks to her or their own paths intertwine with one anothers like when in the elevator.

shelly on the other hand goes out of her way to interact with everyone! even vee! as she sees vee as her closest friend next to of course astro, sprout, tisha etc...

now shelly does have a crush on vee, and is pretty obvious about it, but doesn't think she is really, out of anything shelly isn't obessive...she wants to support and show how much she loves her friends, she just developed a bigger feeling around vee since well, shelly finds her confidence aspiring and her straight forward and blunt personality to be charming! she is a gameshow host after all!...plus she can't really deny that she does think that vee is really pretty.

but i think shelly wanting to not put her own feelings over anothers, would try to not be so obvious with these feelings...but because shelly being shelly, she honestly can be a bit much and be overly affectionate...which leads to her accidently being too obvious about her feelings toward vee.

and you'd think that would lead to vee knowing that shelly likes her but, i kinda think out of anything, vee should be oblivious to all this since she'd be used to shelly acting like this or at least see this as a normal thing shelly does, vee is used to everyone behavior.

shes a robot, so logically she'd think shelly acting like this is normal, since its normal for her to be affectionate and supportive, its postive traits for anyone to have and shelly acting any different wouldnt make much sense, so she wouldn't look past that and just enjoy the praise and support that shelly gives her, since vee does seem to be a kinda gal to have a little bit of an ego...

eventually though...since vee isn't stupid, would sort of have a moment where she may notice shellys actions being different compared to how she is with everyone else, how more excited she is around her, more talkative, more quick to stumble on her words, more...flustered.

vee isn't used to this, confused by this actually...and for a bit would be stumpted on what was going on with shelly, maybe even go to sprout about it, asking if he could check on her possibly. which where sprout would question her on what could be wrong with shelly of all people.

leading to vee explaining things to sprout, and with all the info handed to him, he'd proubly be looking at vee with this sort of slowly realization on that the fact that first, shelly totally has a crush on vee and second, vee absolutely doesnt know and thinks her behavior is her being sick or whatever, i do think sprout wouldn't sugar coat it and would say that it sounds like shelly likes her, and vee would at first respond with her agreeing but would firmly ask who doesn't like her though, with sprout quick to interupt and say no, not that shelly likes her, that shelly like likes her, that shes crushing on her--ROMANTICALLY.

vee would be kinda fazed by this, shelly likes her? like THAT??? why? why her of all people? they weren't even that close and...

she was more stumpted than before, she's never had someone she considered a friend like her like this before, or even on her own case, has had feelings like that toward another if she were to be honest.

vee didn't know what to do, what to say...she's never felt so..out of control before, so out of the loop, she should've known about this, but...with shelly being just so nice and kind, that being the norm, she really must of brushed it off, which with that conclusion made her feel embaressed with herself.

but after this, i think vee would be in heavy denial, leading to her kinda trying to avoid shelly, maybe to clear things up in her head, shes just suspecting things, shelly isn't in love with her, theres no way she wouldnt of known about her liking her so it isnt true, but with vee actively trying to avoid shelly...

leads to shelly feeling quite ignored, and..very confused...

shelly knew vee could be stand offish at times, especially when shes upset or frustrated, but...for her to avoid her like she was the plague made her feel like she maybe did something wrong, and shelly being shelly, would make it be her mission to apologize to vee when the opportunity came to it...which that opportunity comes along on a very special run.

You groaned in annoyance as you looked over to see Leo coming up to you.

"Why should I do anything for you?" You snapped.

"I'll keep bothering you until you do it~" Leo cooed in a smug tone, and you sighed again, giving in and posing like he wanted just to get him to go away.

"Great! Looks like you are good for something!" Leo sneered, turning to walk away.

"Hold up! Why the fuck did you want my picture?!" You snapped, "That's creepy as hell."

"To introduce you as my girlfriend to my followers."

"WHAT! NO! That's even more creepy, and I'm already dating someone who very much isn't you! Delete that photo!" You yelled, but Leo just laughed and dodged away from you.

"Too late, already posted NPC!" He sneered before rushing off.

Shit, this wasn't good. First things first, go tell your boyfriend about this so he doesn't misunderstand the situation.

Ritsu Shinjo - You'd immediately texted Ritsu to meet with you at the Mystery Diner, citing it as an emergency.

When you walked in he was already there waiting for you, and he stood up when you came in. "Are you alright? What's the nature of the emergency?" He asked, immediately worried after your health.

"I'm okay, but something happened and I need you to know the full story before you hear something." You explained and he nodded, sitting back down and placing his recorder out on the table.

You sat down across from him and explained to him what happened in full detail since you knew he'd want to know even the smallest of details.

"Thank you for bringing this to my attention immediately." Ritsu began, "Now, what legal action would you like to take? There are laws against the falsifying of information, or perhaps we could even get him on malicious intent-"

You cut him off before he could carry on. "No, no legal action. I'm sure he'd just love the attention from it." You scoffed, imagining how smug the social media star would be. "I just wanted you to know because we don't need stupid things like this getting between us and i don't want to see you get hurt if you thought for even a second I'd date someone else because i just wouldn't."

Ritsu smiled softly at you, "Thank you, it would have hurt a great deal if I'd heard that you were dating someone else, especially someone like him."

You smiled back at him, "I only have eyes for you Ritsu, I love you."

"I love you too."

And, days later, you learned that Leo's post about you had been suddenly taken down. If you try to ask Ritsu about it, he'll deny having a hand in it, though you have your suspicions.

Alan Mido - "Hey Alan? Are you here?" You called as you walked into Vagastrom's garage, glad at least to see that Leo wasn't around in there. If you'd seen him, you were fairly sure you'd try to punch him, even though you knew that wouldn't end up well for your part.

Just as you were about to give up looking for him, Alan popped up behind you.

"Sorry, was down in the pit. One of the students said you were looking for me?" Alan asked, and you nodded.

"I need to talk with you now before you overhear Leo blabbing his mouth." You explained.

"What did he do to you?" Alan asked with concern. You explained the situation to him, and while he didn't fully understand why Leo would be doing this, he was angry at him for doing it.

"I'll talk to him." Alan sighed, knowing he probably wouldn't be able to do anything about it in the end, Leo rarely listened to him.

"I just needed you to know that I would never date him firstly, but that I would also never date someone else behind your back." You told him, and he graced you with a small gentle smile.

"I know you wouldn't, thank you for telling me."

You smiled and hugged him tightly.

Days later, you find out the post has been deleted. If you try to ask Alan about it, he won't admit to anything. However, he strangly seems to owe Tohma a favor now..

Subaru Kagami - "Are you okay, MC? You seemed so panicked in your message." Subaru greeted you as you got into Hotarubi to meet with him.

"I'm okay, it's just, something happened and I need to tell you about it now before you overhear something about it." You explained.

Suba nodded, "Okay, tell me what happened."

You explained to him everything that happened with Leo and he listened in silence.

"I see. This is very improper of him to do something like this to you." Suba said slowly, his expression darkening for a moment, but then you blinked, and his expression was back to normal.

"I just wanted you to know about this so you wouldn't think i was going behind your back to date anyone else, least of all someone like Leo."

Suba gave you a small gentle smile, "I know you wouldn't do something like that. You're not someone like that. Thank you for bringing this to my attention."

"Of course, I love you, I wasn't going to not tell you about this."

"I love you too MC."

Days later you find out the post was deleted. If you try to ask Subaru about it, he'll act surprised at this. "Maybe he realised what he was doing was wrong?" He'll tell you. You're not sure how he did it, but you're certain Suba was behind this.

Shohei Haizono - "Sho? Do you have a minute to talk?" You called out as you entered the food truck.

The truck was still closed, this being the time Sho was normally there prepping meals so you were hoping to find him. Sure enough, he was there chopping vegtables up. He glanced back towards you when he heard your voice.

"This about Leo?" He asked, setting down the knife as he fully turned to look at you. He noticed the look on your face and smirked a bit. "Thought i wouldn't have seen yet? Leo makes me follow him on everything, so I always get notifications when he posts something. No, I don't think you're actually dating, by the way, I know you're not the type."

"I'm so sorry Sho-" you started, but he cut you off.

"Leo was being an ass and totally overstepped, he knows we're together and this has crossed a line. You have nothing to apologize for."

"Still, I feel bad this even happened at all.." You sighed, "And I really had wanted to tell you about it before you found out, I want us to have trust between us and be open about everythingm"

Sho walked over to you and pulled you into his arms, "We do have trust, I trust you completely because the second I saw that post, I knew Leo was lying. Thank you though, for wanting to come tell me."

"Of course, I love you." You mumbled, pressing your face into his chest. Sho chuckled softly.

"Love you too, now I have some food I set aside for you, eat it before it gets cold."

Days later, you notice the post is down, and when you question Sho about it, he just tells you he handled it and to not worry about it.

Arcane “fans” acting like the writers overlooked vi’s trauma like no THE FANS ARE!

There are plenty of scenes and moments where you can clearly see vi’s PTSD flashbacks. the fear and trauma in her eyes is so real every time not to mention the parallels. But for some reason some arcane fans are missing one of the biggest points of this show being actions speak much louder than words.

yall think her trauma is overlooked because its not loud, obvious and as open as jinx’s or other characters. The reason why vi’s trauma was never shown very openly the same way the others were was because she was never really allowed to be open about her fears or her feelings as a kid being the oldest and with all the weight vander had on her. Everything that happened she thought she was responsible for and she always felt like she always needed to be strong for everyone else.

No one else gave her a moment to be vulnerable the same way powder/jinx always had the privilege being vulnerable as she was the youngest and the weakest and she didnt have that same pressure as vi.

So obviously Vi’s trauma is not going to be as big and in your face as the others because if you actually watched the show she was never allowed to be open with her emotions. But even so you can see plenty of moments where that PTSD is shown through her expressions and actions and personally I think her trauma was written VERY realistically and words cant explain how much I appreciate the arcane writers for that.

not everyone with PTSD and trauma is gonna be a loud psycho crash out and just because they aren’t depicted that way in writing or irl does not mean their trauma is overlooked by the writers/doesnt have any trauma at all.

As far as I’m aware it’s the fans constantly overlooking her trauma, constantly mischaracterizing her, constantly hating on her writing and just basically hating her character in general. Y’all only like the version of Vi you have made up in your head and it pmo. atp just say you hate the show and leave the fcking fandom with your “arcane critique” bullshit. you aren’t a critique , you’re just a fucking hater and you will come up with ANYTHING to make your opinions seem like facts and like theyre reasonable when they arent.

and I just find it funny that you hoes think you can critique this show when you dont even have the brain power to understand the writing AT ALL or pay attention to the details AT ALL or even listen and take cannon evidence and the things the writers say as cannon AT ALL. Like what yall are “critiquing” is your own arcane fan fiction you have somehow made up in your head.

The Heart of Zaun by 1ts_Br1tney_B1tch 8/ chapters. WIP.

or: Silco try to rally the Firelights to his cause (in this case, Zaun - he's much more involved in doing better for his city than in the show) but of course they're bound to have some..tension between them, since they hate him - and Shimmer. (it has the good parent Silco tag so i'd say that all in all, this Silco is a little less...Silco than in Arcane, but manage to keep some of the bite he has in canon...) i only read 2 chapters, and what i can say is that it does a good job with the general cast, the interactions between Silco/Ekko-Firelights are believable, i think the one thing that could have weird me out is the way Silco is said to be 'proud' of the Firelights in the summary (for me 'pride' is something he'd reserve for Jinx yk?? anyway i stop the rambling) . The Timebomb relationship has more or less the same push and pull as in the show, with Ekko thinking about the girl Jinx used to be/ Ekko being a link to the past before Jinx and all that entail...so yeah, i'm loving it!

Powder doesnt become Jinx

ABO/Reverse AU where Powder doesnt become Jinx and is raised by Viktor, Ekko is taken in by Silco. btw i dont read a lot of abo fic (im very nickpick) but this one does every characters justice, and actually dwelve in depth in the abo universe.. (everything by typewriter is good to be honest, but my favorite thing is how they write Powder, who even when she doesnt become Jinx, is still shaped by a very violent world/trauma and it shows through her mental health issues and very, very low self worth/need to prove herself. )

Timebomb centric rewrite of Arcane, Jinx is Powder, she doesnt fall under Silco's hand (or in his arms precisely), Ekko is Ekko, and 1, i need to hug Powder, 2 she deserves the world and 3 the characterization of everyone, everyone is so brillantly written and the timebomb relationship (damn even the CaitVi one too) oh, the timebomb of it all... they feel so, so real and it hurts, Powder's insecurities, her mental illness, her guilt, her need to prove herself but in same time she doesnt feel herself worth of anything (or anyone) good... just.read it. read it, because i just did, after like 2 years of not doing that and. im like mad bc why didnt i??? but in same time so grateful to just discover it now, taking my sweet little time reading it; it rewinded my brain its amazing, (like this work in another fandom, the first time i read this rebelcaptain's fic A Love song by skitzofreak - did i just linked it for you to read even tho its a timebomb rec post??? yes. yes i did. thats how much i love, adore, worship this one guys - so everything's better made me think a lot of this TB fic, and also of RC (the abandonment issues, thinking that you have to leave first before everyone leave you, Jyn and Powder damn).

you know how everyone make the comparaison between Ekko and Miles?? well, the author found a way for Ekko transform into a spiderman that feels right in the arcane verse (end of act1) and damn its so good. Ekko slowly morphing and gaining his powers while everyone still have some focus on them (mostly Powder), but it still manages to keep the suspense of the fate of other characters. fabulous. author note: [I have seen so many comparisons between Ekko and Miles and a lot of fanart. So it felt that I had to do this. I can't promise future chapters right now (busy), but I am eager to see if this inspires any stories with a similar premise.]

Oh he definitely does not know what a period is, do you really thing Pam ever told him? If anything he might have heard mentions from campers while he was.. sizing them up before his attack.. but even then that's being generous! Very anxious the first time you have your cycle around him, but he seems to calm down significantly when you explain. It's not so much that its blood, it's the fact that it's coming from you and he doesnt understand why. Very caring, wont let you do anything around the cabin. Takes you out for fresh air, he doesnt mind carrying you! He feels so so helpless if he cant take your cramps away.. generally hes an angel with how he treats you, even with the learning curve!

Michael

Between the three hes the most.. normal about it. Nonchalant, even. Hes not at all phased by blood, that much is obvious thanks to the occasional nights where he comes back home covered in the stuff. Hes a little.. uncaring.. when it comes to helping you. Is that the correct word? He will silently grab you a blanket or some pain killers if you need it- but hes not going to cuddle with you on the floor.. comfort is not Michael's field of expertise, either... though it's not like this behavior is new from him

Brahms

Similar to Jason he probably doesn't know what a period is, or at least not a lot of the details. He's probably heard of it but other than that hes clueless. Pesters you when you start getting down, whether emotionally or physically- it's his own way of seeing if you're sick. Explain to him what's going on because otherwise hes going to bother you about your chores.. oh.. you're hurting and bleeding? You dont.. need to see a doctor, right? No? He does some of the duties around the house- cooking, cleaning, things like that. Hes not totally helpless, though his cooking... could use some work. Tries his hand at making your favorite meals.. fails miserably because hes always had his meals cooked for him.. watching someone cook can only teach you so much, especially when you're watching from the walls

this is going to sound so ubnoxious, but i saw a lifesteal confession and immediately realised that im probably guilty of the exact thing it was talking about (people mostly caring about branzy when it comes to lifesteal and clownzy). but after a minute of thinking (🤔<- like this) i could kiiiinda pinpoint why and i thought it'd be interesting enough to vocalise, at least.

in my head, there's a very clear line between "the guy whose vidoes i watch while eating lunch" and "the guy i make fanworks of." even though its technically the same guy. i love watching branzy's videos. he's extremely entertaining and talented. but i also have a separate version of him that's based on the character he plays. the guy who in many cases has a story that ends up being very tied to clowns. being the most important person to the deadliest guy is a compelling character and i find that very fun to explore in writing. admittedly the bit they've got going on where they flirt unprompted is still kinda peak and that is definitely something i'd want to see more of.  very chill about it though. *wink*

however, and this is where i wholeheartedly agree with everything in the confession. i really dislike it when the comment section on branzy's videos mention clown in a video clown's barely in. cc!branzy could spend five hundred hours working on a minecraft project and if clownpierce happens to be eluded to, then that's what a lot of the comments will be about. now i LOVE clownzy crumbs because i'm a pathetic individual, but there are so many other things to talk about in branzy's non-lifesteal content than the gay bit he did two years ago. 

anyway here are some elements of branzy's character that i really appriciate bout him

he is like a jack of all trades. sure he's not the very very best in any field, but he's a great builder, great redstoner, great at survival things, great at the game in general. i think his strongest trait is just how dedicated he is to whatever he decides to do. he loves a challenge, he loves overkill and theatrics, he needs mental stimulation and work or else he dies.

in after hours smp he commited so many crimes... so many. one thing i loved is that for that video he had to research these crimes and come up with a minecraft equivalent. he's extremely creative and his brain works in weird, sort of morbid and somehow also cutesy ways.

or in the video where he's building a computer in minecraft with rek. one moment he doesn't get what's happening and he asks rek to "explain it to me like im a puppy" or something. and it's such a silly little moment but i like that he just found no shame in asking. in general he's just very down to earth and shameless.

he is not in any way morally upstanding. if he saw a big read button that said "press this to kill one hundred random children" he'd not hesitate. if the button was protected with top security measures he'd do whatever it takes to get past them. he does not care about good and bad. please never give him morals.

his love language is killing his friends for fun

okay here's a personal preference but he needs to have some wacky job. if you're writing this man he needs to be money laundering. or running a pyramid scheme. why would anyone put him in a school, or a cafe. he's a palm reader who sucks but takes money before readings and runs away. he's running a sweatshop and all the worker uniforms are weird costumes. he's a janitor but he uses special access to steal things. he has one hundred different identities. why am i describing stanley pines.

there is so much love in him. he loves the craft (insert trademark mark here), he loves the people around him, he finds joy in pretty flowers, he finds joy in setting pretty flowers on fire.

I don't tend to talk a lot about my sexuality headcanons because I like to adjust things as I need for each story, but in honour of the end of pride month and the fact that I put off doing this for 30 full June days, I do want to talk about some of my favourite lgbt related headcanons for my HQ boys. A lot of these are "real" headcanons of mine (as in, stuff I actually write as a part of their character rather than just theoretically interesting asides) so you might recognize these if you've read my work!

This isn't going to be every character, just ones I have strong or specific takes on.

Starting off strong, I love Daichi being a completely unlabeled king. To decide on a label requires .05% introspection and by god he is not going to do that. I think his perspective on it is very "only what's in front of me matters" so when he feels attraction to a man for the first time he doesnt think this means he's attracted to ALL men, just this one. And in reverse, although he feels attraction to women, he doesn't think at any point his current attraction to women will stop him from falling in love with any non-women, so it never occurs to him that his feelings of attraction could even point to any one label because literally what does today have to do with tomorrow? He's just here. Asahi tries to suggest pansexual as a label when he tries to explain how he's simply open to whatever his heart wants and he gets mad because "i said ANY person not ALL people" and Asahi's like WHAT does that MEAN. All that being said, I think Daichi never considers himself queer/lgbt. Dude could be in a committed monogamous relationship with another man for ten years and when Suga suggests they go to a pride festival he's like "???for what???" All in all I think he's allergic to labels on his sexuality.

Related note, Asahi being asexual. I don't think Asahi is sex-repulsed at all, and later in life I think he definitely would enjoy being sexually active with a partner, but definitely when it comes to self identification, he simply does not feel attraction towards any gender. I also think he doesn't really crave physical intimacy even non-sexually, and he'd much rather talk through his feelings with someone rather than have them hug him to try and comfort him, so he really struggles to understand the kissing-sex thing even just from a theoretical pov. (Like why would you pick that over like a nice long heart-to-heart???) However I think this has to be coupled with like a panromantic attraction to all genders which makes him have a really hard time identifying what he actually wants and what will make him happy because there's a very uniform experience across people, which for someone so anxious already doesnt help him identify his own feelings at all. He probably very much struggles to relate to his classmates as they get excited for dating because even though he likes the idea of dating everyone always talks about dating as kissing and physical intimacy (because they're all like 17) and Asahi's like "sure, sure, sure, yeah, totally sure yeah" while just being fully checked out of the conversation

Ushijima! I fully believe that Ushijima is 100% gay, with no flexibility, but I also think he most identifies his own feelings via the negative, so he knows he doesn't experience sexual attraction towards women and mostly identifies via that, rather than acknowledging that he does feel attraction to men. I really like him answering questions this way, where if someone is asking about girls/his love life, he often replies with "I don't feel inclined towards women," or "I have no interest in finding a girlfriend/wife" which is, in his mind, the most true statement in regards to his sexuality. He almost NEVER out loud says anything about liking men or feeling attracted to men even though his crush/dating history is exclusively male. However, on the few occasions someone does directly ask him something like "so you're gay?" he will absolutely say yes. Like he is aware of what his feelings classify him as he just doesn't leap to those descriptors himself. I think part of the reason for this is that he's not really attracted to femininity in general, and he knows that femininity is not exclusive to women and that some men are not his type, so there's a part of his brain that thinks saying something like "I'm attracted to men" indicates ALL men (its that black and white autism brain clicking into gear) and that's simply not true, but saying he's not interested in women IS true in black and white autism land.

I don't have a fully formed thought on this one, but Tendou's gender is probably a little broken, right? I actually do think he still identifies as male, but I think if he had been born afab, he'd have been perfectly comfortable being a woman and identified as such. So maybe he's lightly agender but socially comfortable with being a man so he doesn't really bother with it. I do however think he doesn't "get" the whole gender thing. He probably thinks he's enlightened or something because he's so above being bothered by it all and he simply doesn't realize that's because he's agender and everyone else actually does feel a real connection to their gender they're not just making it up. This whole headcanon is mostly in service of that fact that I think Tendou with his sort of conventionally unattractive features would absolutely rock gender non-conforming fashion. Like put him in a long skirt and combat boots please. I don't think he has an ounce of femininity in him but there's something about the spiky red hair and monster gaze that goes so well with like... Female-tilted alt fashion. And I think he would dig that. And then get mad when people point out he's wearing women's clothes because "ugh literally why does anyone care about gender you're all so weird." (Proceeds to do zero self reflection). He just does what he wants.

This isn't a real headcanon of mine but I heavily support a FtM trans Kenma based solely on his calico cat mascot. He's based on a calico, guys, its right there!

Aromantic Kuroo. (+QPR KuroKen) I don't use this as much as I could, because it's a lot of emotional character work that I dont often want to bother with in unrelated stories, but AroAce Kuroo has become so near and dear to my heart. He wants so badly to spend his whole life monogamous with Kenma but every time he thinks about starting a romantic relationship with him he feels sick because he doesn't actually want to share space and kiss and have to sleep in the same bed all the time. I think it's sex-positive asexual but borderline romance-repulsed aromantic. He just wants to live his life, and he does see Kenma as his highest priority and life partner in the most true sense of the word "partner". He still gets unreasonably jealous if Kenma has any other love interests but thats because allonormativity threatens to take away his soulmate every day. I don't use this headcanon very often, but more and more I do think it fits his character. A really solitary, independent and self possessed person who simply cannot comprehend why anyone needs a lover to feel fulfilled. Kenma meanwhile absolutely would love a life partner that does not require him to leave the house for dates or do any kind of performative relationship shit. His twitch stream being like "oh my god kodzuken are you dating anyone???" And Kenma just replying with "not legally" is actually really fucking good.

woke up and first thing i do is be insane about white rabbit again. anyways here's another thread about him, focusing on his fatalistic views and relationship with the makaians he experimented on (this was formatted for bsky so i didnt go into as much detail as i wanted due to character limit and im too lazy to write more so)

white rabbit is a death seeker. like bro wants to die, plain and simple. he's on borrowed time with his artificial demon heart sustaining him. whatever freedom he hopes makaians will gain from bringing down sparda's wall, he knows he's probably going to expire before seeing it

it's pretty obvious with how he interacts with dante and lady. it's not just about killing them (he honestly seems pretty reluctant to kill lady in particular, perhaps thinking death is too good for her/wanting to thoroughly make her suffer first) it's about making them understand him

a lot of his decisions come across as reckless and kind of careless but i think it's by design. he shows a lot of himself to dante and lady, especially by leading them to his room. he wants to be "caught" in a sense. and it also explains why he doesnt just fall back and regroup when it's obvious he has no shot of winning against dante after his army gets decimated. he doesn't have the time or resources to try again (always running out of time!) and figures one last hail mary. and he does succeed! for a moment anyway

all of this is probably why he doesnt even sound particularly bothered when dante kills him, just leaves him with spiteful words about how this world fucking despises orphans and he has no place in it (holy projection batman!) he's completely resigned, and narratively, he's right.

another moment i keep thinking about is when he pulls himself from the river and finds bloodstryke (his last demon soldier). he doesn't look crazed or elated that he still has a shot or anything like that. he looks resigned and sad and empty. even regretful.

and bloodstryke, for a moment, actually looks happy to see him! which makes me think that it's very likely a lot of the makaians he augmented/experimented on were probably completely willing to donate themselves to the cause. why wouldnt they be? they have just as much a reason to fight.

idk we don't actually get too much follow up or fleshing out of his current relationship with the makaians, but to me it reads less like "mad scientist" and more like a weirdly twisted way of "caring" for them. it's not like white rabbit isn't also experimenting on himself and pushing his own body to its absolute limit. he knows what's at stake here.

i dont have a good way to end this thread im just thinking real hard about a lot of areas in the plot that season 1 didn't really have time to linger on (8 episodes is really damn short) and im hoping we see some sort of follow up on these plot threads (even flashbacks or whatever) in season 2 because i just love wrabbit so much and there's a lot of backstory they can utilize with him.

Neuvillette’s words pierce through your heart like daggers. His orchid eyes stare you down and indicate absolutely nothing; his sudden confession left you in a circle between shock and confusion.

The words spread throughout your body like poison, but in reality you’re only staring back at him. The hurt starts to become visible on your face, but your mouth seems to be unable to let out a noise; yet, the voice in your head yells and begs to know the answer as to why.

You clutch the rainbow rose he brought you close to your chest, being the first to take your eyes off him. You look at the ground, feeling the familiar clump in your throat that starts to form.

Neuvillette has been feeling sick as of late. Or at least, that’s what he thought - well, what else could explain that he feels his temperature rise, his heart beating so fast it could escape his chest, making even his voice tremble? “No, this cannot be-“ Neuvillette thought frantically, massaging his temples, “It’s time for a professional to evaluate.”

Though, as expected - the doctor was of no help. She giggled to herself, “I apologize, monsieur Neuvillette, I’m afraid I can’t help in this case. I can assure you however, you’re perfectly healthy.” The chief of justice felt the uncomfortable feeling of embarrassment, but thanked the doctor and left the room.

After yet another trial where Neuvillette seemed to be somewhere else with his thoughts, Furina confronted him with a tinge of annoyance in her voice. The white haired man could only mutter a thing, that he does not feel well; at the sound of his pathetic excuse, Furina stood up from her seat furiously, throwing her hands in the air, “You aren’t sick, fool! You’re in love!”The hydro archon’s cheeks flushed a slight pink at her own statement, but she was no match for her subordinate; she pushed the sudden bashfulness away, “n-now, do something about it immediately! I will not tolerate it in the courtroom any longer!” Furina crossed her arms and sat down again, furrowing her brows and watching the empty seats below her.

Seeing you divert your eyes away, Neuvillette’s expression softened significantly, his line of sight mimicking yours and shifting to a nearby bench.

“Why?”

Neuvillette blinks quickly, his eyelashes batting at you in surprise, “Come again? What do you mean?”

“Why do you hate me?”

He could feel the boiling hot feeling spreading through his body, although not a pleasant one. His eyes widened at you and his lips parted ever so slightly - but Neuvillette could only hear his heart beating so fast, beating to the rhythm of worry and uncertainty.

Before he could react properly, he saw a small tear dripping down your cheek, onto the cold pavement.

But his body moved without thinking.

He cups your cheeks gently with his gloved hands and moves your head up, just enough so you could look at him. His thumbs wipe your tears off your face, sighing deeply and finally speaking the real deal.

“You… make my heart race. It beats ungodly fast whenever I lay my eyes on you. You’ve been occupying my thoughts for many months, and even if I try to think about anything else - I cannot bring myself to do it, because it all comes back to you. I can’t… stop thinking about you, I can’t stop myself from admiring your ravishing beauty, I want you-“

“Wait!” You yell just enough to make him stop, both of you avoiding each other’s gazes and blushing bright red, but his hands stayed firmly on your face, no longer drying off tears, but caressing the apples of your cheeks he gently, “if that’s how you feel, then why…? Why did you say it like that?” For what it feels like first time in forever, you look into his gorgeous eyes that resemble the finest amethyst.

“I… I apologize, I didn’t want you to misunderstand me,” Neuvillette gasps slightly when he feels your delicate palms on his own hands, “but I truly mean it - I…”

Your breath hitches in your throat; the butterflies in your stomach don’t seem to help, but the anticipation has you almost shaking.

“I love you.”

Neuvillette can’t describe the weight that’s been lifted off his shoulders; but the sinking sensation in his stomach of not knowing what will happen next is making him nervous more than anything. When more tears meet his hands yet again, he fears for the worst.

“It’s alright, please do not shed any more tears because of me. I’m happy enough to have said it,” except, he doesn’t. He feels his heart break in half, getting filled by nothing but a void of emptiness.

The clouds become gloomy - looks like it’s going to rain later.

Just as his hands slide down and he begins to turn away, you reach out for his arm and grab it, causing him to spare you one, last look.

“Wait! I’m sorry, don’t go… I love you too, silly.” You manage to murmur the last few words loud enough that he could hear.

Neuvillette can’t believe it’s actually happening. He appears stunned for a minute, watching you in disbelief, but then a genuine smile graces his lips; his hands play with your fingers and silently ask to be intertwined with yours. When your interlaced hands give him a small squeeze, he gives you the softest, most lovesick look with his eyes that no one could ever imagine.

He places a quick kiss on your forehead and leans against it. Neuvillette’s eyes close for a moment, absorbing the fleeting moment.

It doesn’t take long before the chief of justice pushes your chin up with his fingers, his thumb brushing your lower lip, awaiting for your answer, “Can I, ma chérie?”

It only takes seconds for him to finally lock your lips together, and he wishes to feel that tenderness forever from this day forward.

Neuvillette certainly has to learn a bit more about expressing feelings - now, with your help.

The last I checked, Hermes cabin was full in pjo.

-"Athena didnt give Annabeth anything, any blessing or powers." Again, she was blessed and claimed at birth. Second, she pretty much got her mind, intelligence from her. Also she got gifts, and was blessed as weaving abilities. She is a master strategist.

-"Annabeth doesnt deserve Percy!" It feels like you are a young teenager and jealous of a fictional character 😭 They are happy, thank you very much.

Curly victimhood and how 2 things can be true.

Curly was a good Captian, a good friend BUT he was also willing to hide Jimmy wrong doing, Failed Anya by not taking action sooner and in general relying to heavily on the "we are friends we understand one another." The thing about Curly is nothing that he says, he's going to do, when we play as him. Ever comes to fruition, we never make it to Earth, we never make it to the drop off point. His sin or inactions stay on the ship and in a way, him getting hurt like he did is his punishment for his sin. He is as much of a victim of Jimmy as others on the ship.

The rose colored glasses are torn away when Curly is put in a position of helplessness. When he loses the status of friend and becomes someone Jimmy had already disliked into someone below Jimmy. The 5 people in this fandom have already mentioned it, Curly can be a allegory for the mistreatment of people who are disabled, rape connecting to Anya and helplessnes.

But what i think the real connection is, is that Curly represents those real friendships where you have a close bond with someone who does something horrible. I think it also represents, how some men will just stay friends with a horrible people. Even though they know that person is horrible.

In Curly case he made a few statment that showed he was willing to work things out. He would "Take Responsibility." Could it be he was simply trying to keep everything together by pacifying both Jimmy and Anya. They are on a ship that still had 200+ days left to go. Yes. But we'll never know the full scope of Curly character because we only ever get his view in flash back or from Jimmys warped perspective.

I forgot the gun scene- it is the foundation of two things can be true. Curly can talk to Anya on day 0 when Curly looks for the gun. Its not explain why hes looking for it. But when you talk to Anya, Curly assumes she is going to hurt herself. He tells Anya that they can work this out, and that he would have done ANYTHING for her.

Anya calls him out saying "I know you wouldn't have given me the gun to protect myself but atleast he doesnt have it." Which just puts Curly firmly in the middle. He wants to hold on to his friendship with jimmy, while also trying to "Take Responsibility". Its adds another level of tragedy and why he starts laughing when Jimmy finds the gun. It was staring him in the face the whole time. An maybe he should have given Anya the gun to protect herself.

- “Hey… you still got those sleeping pills? I’m uh… I’m having trouble sleeping at night”

- He’d get his hands on you somehow. He’d have you in his arms soon, concious or unconcious

Watching Revalator

Ok so we're in the sewers doing a training montage halfway into the season. (remember, this might be the 5th to air, but in the intended watch-order, this is the eleventh). So i dont actually know how to feel about the fact that Sabrina is using her previous design in this scene, either its a flashback (which... means they waited eleven episodes to establish what appears to be a basic tenet for the post S5 soft-reboot's rules) or its a continuity error... Either they waited 11 episodes to establish a basic foundation of the new world, or they dismissed all these heroes "growign up" to a lazy training montage that doesnt even get to show the actual training in the montage. I really dont know which i dislike more between those two tbh. ---

Ok this episode is taking way too long getting started. Like... its such a slow lead-in and so much of it is just "lets sit around watching a screen" that even when our characters are actually doing something, it feels like they're only responding. huh, the girl from Ilustrhater (i think her name was maya?) is back. Dont know how i feel about her. On the one hand she's cute, but she feels largely redundant with Manon and the twins. like this scene didnt need to be the S6 new kid... its strange that this kid keeps returning in the new universe but we havent seen Manon return yet. Feels like they've replaced her, which i guess would line up with the fucking worst fan-theory i've seen in a while. (not in the "theory doesnt add up", Lila is hollow enough it doesnt outright make a plothole or anything, it's just a betrayal of the shows oldest, longest and youngest fans) --- im sorry did the subs just have Maribug claim that she's about to Akumatise revalator? Someone should go back and fix that ASAP. ---

Ok Revalator should be dead. The fight has only just started and revalator should be dead. To explain why: Adrien activated the cataclysm with his right hand which as of currently revealed cannon he cannot turn "back off" without first using it to destroy something. (I am only including this disclaimer because they seem to have waited 11 episodes to insert a pre-S6 flashback about everyone's powers changing so who even knows what is and isnt cannon at this point) Maribug prevents him from touching the ball (lest he discover the wish), and he gets hit and vomits up his own ball. Lila tells Revalator to go grab the ball. Now him and Chat (whose cataclysm should still be active) are bumping into eachother, and Adrien places his (left) hand on revalator's face and pushes him out the way, revalator comes back and Adrien with his right hand pushes him from the back, down towards the pavement.

Adrien's cataclysm should be active in this scene and the struggle features both hands making palm-out contact with Revalator. Revalator should be dead. Then he touches the orb and it insta-breaks without needing to re-call cataclysm. Thus confirming that cataclysm is still active in this scene. ---

"But your miraculous ladybug will fix everything". Well given the precedent re:memory-power akuma's and amnesia. It absolutely should. Which is why i hope that we arent about to backpedal on Oblivio and claim that Mari cant wipe memories so we can pretend to respect Catboy by turning him into nothing but an agency-free tool to be used to destroy Alya's memories. Because that would once more be a case of "nominally claiming adrien deserves to be a person, while actively stripping him of personhood and agency". No way the show could possibly do that again... (who am i even trying to kid there) ah, Adricat seems legitimately hurt knowing his lady lied to/abandoned him mid fight. (which.. yeah valid. Plus the implication that the orb must've been bigger then a secret identity, given that identities could definitly wait until after the fight).

--- Ok so marinette does the Miraculous Ladybug. the power that based on all currently established precedents should erase everyone's memories like it did in Oblivio and the "cat-ball" scene hasnt happened yet. Is the plot actually about to do the one thing i feared coming into this: Provide in-name-only lipservice to the idea that Chat deserves to grow into more power as well/be her equal while actually stripping him of all agency in the scene and turn him into nothing but a tool to be used? Are we really about to have him develop a deeply invasive use of his powers that (though admittedly creative and interesting) the show wont actually consider trusting him to use 1-fully informed 2-at his own agency? "nothing is broken, secrets arent physical damage". Never stopped you before. You've "fixed" time, space, reality and memories before. There is no reason for your powers not to work here. I absolutely hate this. This is some monkey's paw shit. We wanted adrien to be given a power-up so he could close the power-gap. But now his power-up only exists so Mari can have a veneer of deniability in this scene while using Chat as, not a person, but simply a tool at her disposal. The one time they refuse to make Marinette absolutely bullshit in ways her powers cant really justify, and it's so the show can pretend Chat is the one responsible for all of this.

its the stupid merchfodder keychain again... oh you fucking did not make the message of this episode "people deserve to keep their secrets and decide wether to tell the truth for themselves". YOU DID NOT JUST SAY MARINETTE HAS A RIGHT TO GASLIGHT HER BF. HOW DARE YOU! You did not just make that the explicitly stated textual message of this episode that "everyone has a right to their secrets and we shouldnt force people to tell them" in the middle of a lying to your boyfriend plotline. Like you were so close with Alya's righteous anger at Maribug, and then you had her do the post-villain "moral of the episode" speech and you just fucking ruined it. If this episode was about the importance of truth (juxtaposed with Vincent's influencer lies) i would've gotten behind it, but it's clear that the thing this episode considers Vincents problem isnt the lying its the "revealing other people's secrets at all". Back on the beach, and we're once again doing the sublimation thing where we have the character who literally doesnt know what just happened provide platitudes about how trustworthy and amazing Marinette is so we can pretend she's still a good person. No this is not a "reveal the secret when you are ready to tell it" story, this is an "adrien deserves to know" story.

yay the post i said id make about the blood aspect and why every vantas exudes blackness. is this a vantas only thing, or a blood bound thing? let me start by saying, you can make white or white coded characters blood bound, that's not what i'm trying to get across. it's just that blood as an aspect, when put through the lens of race specifically in america is just so fucking black.

i get that the extended zodiac is kinda horoscopey, but like just a refresher on blood as a thematic element. you know how the majority of the exposition about the ancestors hinges around the signless and his civil rights movement? the fact that he tried to change alternia sets up the web of characters and reasons for them meeting in the first place.

you literally only need a rudimentary understanding of american history to know about the civil war and the civil rights movement. its not a secret that people who are oppressed form groups to protest their second class status. its also not a secret that major movement leaders get assassinated by people in power to keep that status quo, and their deaths never mark the end of their message. was hussie trying to do an mlk and malcom x parallel with the signless and summoner? LMFAO PROBABLY. that kinda just cements how inescapable race is when you're making an american centric comic.

actually speaking of, the commodification of unity. alternia's a capitalist and colonialist wheel, every instance of comradery comes in the form of quadrants, or how you serve the queen. karkat wants to be a threshecutioner and form bonds that way because he cannot think of anything different. kankri commodifies his own identity so he can be misogynistic and ablest. the signless breaks free from those preconceived boundaries, and tries to instill change to the system.
