No one has been more convincing about encouraging me to play fallout new Vegas than the queer people in my phone. Literally every straight man I know in real life could not be half as convincing as the autistic queer people on this website
#emma posts#i don’t know what this says about me#but I’m going to be honest with you. it’s now making me think about playing some other games too#you guys are better at selling me on a game than every straight guy I know in real life#and honestly most company advertisements#i would be buying more of these games you speak of if i had more money#and also knew how to make and use a gaming laptop#I can’t even figure out new digital art programs. the last program I used on a computer was in 2011#i feel like an old woman and I’m only 26#at least when I’m trying to figure out new computer stuff#I also have to look at the keys when typing#despite how hard my computer class teachers tried to change that#my brothers will be using their gaming pcs and my brain will get overwhelmed#also those bitches are expensive af#just me and my ps4 doing our best#I guess i also have a ds from my childhood but it’s not like I could play new games on it#it still works though. I was super careful with it#aside from getting my improvised stylus stuck in the storage spot#i found my original stylus eventually#you know what. I think I have an art tool that might be able to remove that now. I’d have to bring the ds from my next visit to my parents#but maybe if I could buy some of those old games everybody talked about but my parents never got me I could play them now!#they can be spendy though 😩#and I don’t see many in the thrift stores#as much as I love thrift stores for things like silverware books and picture frames#also some other stuff. that’s just the most notable things#I’ve been looking for a table there for awhile but they are always too big for my tiny apartment#I’m kinda scared of buying clothes there because I’ve heard of people getting bedbugs 😖#but not from the local one I suppose 🤔#oh! I found nice glass mixing bowls there too! they are clearly well used. but it was nice to find cheap ones#I’m getting distracted though. I hope someone can get use out of the jeans that got too small for me. I donated them

Mannnnn..... I knew this would happen.... I just knew it...
The image is not the best quality but under each of these games boxes tells that the game is a game key card.
Now look, there's a lot of misinformation going around about how these work and Nintendo is being dead silent despite there being so much chaos and confusion.
So basically, these game key cards only contain a license for the game and have to perform an internet hand shake with the servers in order to download the game. Once it is downloaded, you don't need an internet connection to play, you just have to connect to the internet to do the download and then you can play the game offline until the end of time. You only have to connect to the internet ONCE! NOT EVERY SWITCH 2 GAME WILL BE A GAME KEY CARD! Mario Kart World will have the full version 1.0 game on the cartridge, Cyberpunk, DK Bananza and other games like the Switch 2 edition games will have the full game on the cartridge and you can play the game offline. You can tell if a physical game will be a game key card because there's a giant white strip at the bottom that will tell you, "Hey dummy, you need an internet connection."
BUT! Despite these cards being an improvement over the simple code in a box like we had during the Switch 1 generation because you can give these to friends and sell them later on, these are still really bad and it's fucking frustrating to see so many game publishers cheap out and be lazy and not put their full game on the cartridge.
Now this could be down to multiple things, maybe Nintendo only has very strict options for file sizes and game publishers are left with having to use game key cards because there's not enough options, or it's just money and time reasons. We don't exactly know for sure. But I'm guessing it's the first one.
But even with that excuse, I just knew that the game key cards would be used by bad publishers just to save a quick buck and completely DAMAGE any form of physical perseveration, as now our options are limited on preserving future Switch 2 titles. These game key cards are bad simply because in 10 years' time, they are going to be dead paperweights, and you won't be able to download the game anymore unless you already had it on your console. That cool feature of sharing a game with your friend in person will not work in the future. Nintendo is the worst at keeping their old servers up as they are ALWAYS the first out of the big three to discontinue their old consoles and internet services. Do you think the Switch is gonna be any different? Nope. The Switch and its online services are gonna shut down way before the PS4 or Xbox One do. I'm calling it right now.
For some games, i can get it... kinda... Street Fighter 6? Yeah, sure, i can get it. It's mainly an online game that gets lots of updates and content i can get behind it... Somewhat...
But why..... WHY THE FUCK IS PUYO PUYO TETRIS 2S A GOD DAMN KEY CARD WHEN CYBERPUNK AND ALL OF ITS DLC CAN FIT ONTO THE FUCKING CARD!??!
WHY IS SONIC X SHADOW GENERATIONS A GAME KEY CARD WHEN THE SWITCH 1 VERSION FIT ON A SWITCH 1 CART?!?! ALSO NO UPGRADE PATH?! REALLY SEGA?!?! ARE YOU INSANE?!
I think the worst part about is this that there's so many games that are game key cards. ALL OF THE THIRD PARTY GAMES ASIDE FROM ONE ARE JUST ONLINE DOWNLOADS THAT COME WITH A KEY!!! UGH!

SELLING THINGS, NEED CAR INSURANCE
Hey y'all!
I really need to get my car insurance reinstated. I can't finish moving without it. I don't drive without insurance.

Obviously, I'd love to pay $558 and not have to worry about it for six months, but that's not an option, I don't think.
We're currently crashing at a friend's house but that is over as of the 1st. We have to be fully moved out of the old place by then. The car also needs to be insured and running.
More info below the cut, but TLDR: I am accepting gifts/donations, I am selling things, and I am selling services.
I have a Ko-Fi, where I can accept most forms of payment, and a PayPal.me. I also use the username/tag NovasPrime on PayPal, Cashapp, and Chime. Ko-Fi also has monthly donation options. I set up tiers starting at $1/month, and I'm hoping to add things to them as actual perks some time soon. Just like. Downloads of things I make and shit.
I also have a PO Box where you can send me physical items: PO Box 20422, Carson City, NV, 89721. I love getting postcards and notes and stuff! And like. Uh. If you have any physical gift cards to car parts/repair places that you're not gonna use, I wouldn't say no to them. 🙃
Please consider sharing! Thank you!
I have most of the things I need to fix the car. Most. I still need a few things, most of which I'll need to get next payday. But the major things I have. I just need to let the weather allow me to do so.
So here's where you come in, lovelies!
I need money.
I have things! I can ship to the US and Canada, possibly other places, but my God, would it be worth it for you? Maybe for books. I have a ton of those in a ton of subjects. I used to work at a college library and when they downsized the collection because they got a big digital collection, we got to take lots of it home - and I did. Ask me a subject and I can tell you what I have. I'll make a list tomorrow.
I have a non-cartridge printer I'm willing to sell - still has ink and works well. I'd drain it and ship the bottles with it. I'd sell it for $90 plus shipping.
I have one of those manual standing desktops that you set on a desk and use a lever to maneuver. It's heavy so probably best for local pickup. $25 takes it.
I have several old phones and tablets I'm willing to sell for a few bucks here and there. They're all fairly old, 4G or wifi only, so like $5 apiece plus a dollar or two for shipping.
I have various shoes and clothing - most will be unisex or women's in EITHER large/size 10-12 pants/skirts, or 3x/size 20 pants/skirts. The shoes run from 8.5 women's through 14 women's (7 through 11 men's). Let me know your style and color preferences, size and body type, and I can send you pics of what I have that may work for you. I'll work on a post of clothing stuff.
I have like no gaming stuff because most of my gaming stuff is digital these days (I DO have a PS5 but I'm not giving that up, it's the crappiest model so it's not worth a lot anyway). I lost my Switch to pawn forever ago, but I have some assorted Switch accessories, like wireless controllers and stuff. If you're interested in that stuff hit me up and we'll talk. I also have a few PS4 controllers of various stages of working, both on- and off-brand. Those, those I'll give up cheap, like 5 bucks each, cuz I'm not sure which ones need work.
I have assorted computer components. I'm not sure what all I can give up because I'm Frankensteining a computer tower for Adrienne, but I'll know shortly! I have at least a few hard drives and some RAM, but they're all like 10 years old. If you're trying to build a crappy desktop for a kid or something, hit me up, I have cheap prices.
I have a pistol, an IWI Masada. I'd rather not sell it, but needs must - if nothing else goes, it will. It comes with two 17+1 magazines, wrist braces, a bunch of 9mm ammo, and a cheap padded waterproof case with a handle. You can put a padlock on the case. It was $500 new, and it's in great shape, so I'd want $300. You'd have to pay for transfer and background shit.
NOW ON TO SERVICES!
I can do a lot of things, as you may well know. I pride myself on being a jack of all trades, master of like two. Here are some services I can perform, as a small independent contractor (all jobs will involve a small one-page boilerplate contract outlining the job, with a few exceptions).
In-person, locally, if you're in Carson City, Reno, or surrounding Nevada/California areas:
Cleaning. Think maid service. I will provide my own materials if you want but it costs more that way. I can deep-clean or unfuck, too, but that's more expensive. Rate is Nevada minimum wage: $12 an hour. Deep-cleaning and unfucking is more specialized and harder on my body, so that's $18 an hour.
Organizing/filing paperwork and mail. Got a bunch of shit you don't even know if you need to keep? This bitch knows. I'm great at filing and organizing by any organizational system you'd like. Hourly rate is Nevada minimum wage: $12/hr.
Personal assistant/driver. I'm a pretty good driver, with 24 years of fairly clean driving. I don't drink or smoke weed. I am great at shopping, running errands, taking directions, taking notes, etc. I also have some minor medical training, experience writing copy and press releases, and experience doing minor graphic design and photo editing. Need a personal assistant for a few days? Hit me up. Prices start at $15 an hour, but you have to provide the vehicle (or pay my insurance up-front as part of the wages).
Simple taxes. I am not a CPA! I am, however, better and more honest than H&R Block and places like that. I will not DO the taxes. I will GUIDE YOU ON HOW TO DO THEM, so that you never have to have someone else do it for you ever again. I can do this online too, but I'm not thrilled with the idea. Nevada doesn't have state taxes so it's easier. Price depends on complexity of taxes and how much your refund winds up being.
Personal shopping/delivery pickup. Once again, you'd have to provide the car, or pay my insurance as part of the fee. Price depends on where and what.
Very minor car repair. I can't do anything major but brake pads, tune-ups, oil changes, starters and alternators, batteries, etc. You pay for parts. Price depends on complexity of job, starting at NV Minimum wage.
Minor clothing repair or alterations. I can do bigger stuff too, but I don't really want any big sewing commissions right now. But if you need pants or a skirt taken in, or hemmed up, or patched/repaired, or some patches sewn onto a battle vest, or anything like that? I have a sewing machine and knowledge.
Minor handyman-type work. $12 an hour. This is like. Putting flat-packed furniture together, fixing minor plumbing issues, patching wall holes, building a table or bench from old pallets, etc. I can physically fix a lot of electronics as well, although I avoid working on phones and tablets like the plague. But I won't work on electricity. Exceptions are installing a new plug or light switch - shit is easy enough.
Scrapping things. Got a bunch of shit you want scrapped down to components. Hit me up!
Things I can do in-person OR online:
Ghostwriting papers. Doesn't matter how esoteric the subject, I'm great at writing papers. Price depends on complexity of topic and research needed, as well as length and how much I need to adapt my writing style, but it starts at $25 for a basic 5-page term paper, excluding cover, index, and citations. If you want nice formatting (a cover, index, and complex citations section) that's an additional $10. Price goes up from there. So...average is roughly $5 to $10 per page.
Ghostwriting articles. I won't write on certain topics but I can write on almost anything. Cost varies based on what is needed.
Resume and cover letter writing. I usually only charge $20 for this.
Resume and cover letter editing. Again, usually $20. I'm not out to gouge people looking for a job.
Proofreading and line-editing, with a heavy emphasis on proofreading erotica. I have done this professionally several times. The price for this depends on the task and the length of whatever I'm reading. I'm willing to work within a budget, within reason. I read very fast - I can proofread and line-edit 50k in a few hours.
Sensitivity reading on the following topics: gender nonconformity, SA victim, invisible disability, autism, ADHD, perceived privilege, bi/pansexual, aromantic, polyamorous, chronic pain, drug use, dyscalculia, dysphoria, dysmorphia, blindness with correction, nonconformity to beauty standards, visible queer-ness, WLW, t4t. Price for this is much like the proofreading and line-editing thing: I prefer to work with you directly.
Page layout and design. I won't print the stuff for you, but I'll design it so you can print it out. I do everything from calendars to coloring books (you provide the art, I just do page layout and formatting and conversion) to ebooks to journals to planners.
Muse. I know this sounds hilarious but just hear me out. You want to write but can't think of an idea. I have ideas but can't write fiction right now. Sounds like a match made in heaven, right? 30 minutes of bouncing ideas off me in chat or via zoom or something an helping you outline your latest project? Letting you get inspired by my fan theories or whatever? Send me what you can afford, no specific price in mind.

For like, the past decade and a half I have found that any time I got a new games console I would try to work up the same kind of excitement I had when getting new consoles as a kid like the gamecube, ds and psp, and consistently what happened ever time was that I'd buy it, try to work up enthusiasm for it and actually keep up with new releases and get involved in modern gaming communities, but then inevitably every time I'd barely play any of the games I get for it since they just didn't grab me, and then inevitably I'd just sell the console to buy more retro games. this happened with 3ds, new 3ds, ps4, wii u and switch.
It took me ENTIRELY too long to realise that pc gaming was what I needed to get back into playing more modern games. I just assumed I wouldn't like pc gaming without trying it fully because I was specifically trying to recapture, again, excitement I got from consoles, and also pc gamers being pc gamers (the unironic "master race" fuckers) turning me off with their usual selling points of just "4k 180fps and no visible polygon edges", which makes it come off like you need overkill $2000+ gaming rigs capable of that kind of thing to actually experience the advantages of pc gaming
That isn't the case at all! you can build a computer for cheaper than next-gen consoles that is able to run lots of modern games at 60fps and 1080p. If you can settle for 30fps you can go even cheaper. You don't even need to buy a windows license anymore since Linux is free and its compatibility with windows software has gotten so good. If building a PC yourself is intimidating you could do what I did; buy a cheap OEM (pre-made) second hand desktop computer for cheap, like sub-$100 cheap, and use that to experiment with learning how to upgrade CPUs, gpus and ram. Using an old win7 HP desktop computer I bought for under $50, I managed to get it running doom 2016 at 30fps just by adding a new graphics card and CPU. doing it this way let me learn more about PC components so that when it was time for me to take the plunge and build my own PC from scratch I knew what I was doing. start cheap, and then if you discover that you need more powerful parts to run stuff you actually want to play, then you can start upgrading. There's no need to buy the highest end graphics card if a low-mid tier graphics card is already running everything smoothly after all. Just recently I built my girlfriend her own PC and managed to keep the price to around $500 (new zealand currency to be clear, which is like $300 USD). It was enough to run saga emerald beyond at 60fps which I was really happy with, but it did end up at around 30fps in other games like god eater 3, so we got a new graphics card once we could afford it.
And even with a cheap computer you can still experience a lot of what makes PC gaming so much fun. Indie games generally aren't demanding on hardware and there's far more of them on PC than there are on consoles. Indie games are genuinely some of the best modern games out there, frequently outdoing the AAA developers in lasting replay value and fun. plus, even the ones on consoles are better on PC thanks to extra features and content like mods, level editors and so on. there's also mouse and keyboard often being a more natural fit for game genres such as strategy and simulation games (I feel the same way about first person shooters as well but your mileage may vary there. Oh yeah also definitely play doom mods, they're awesome). Even if you're not into mouse and keyboard controls (I do really recommend practicing with it though! the speed and precision a mouse gives you is amazing), you'll still have a ton more controller options available on PC since basically anything that can be connected through USB or Bluetooth can be used. You also get access to fan made ports and remakes of classic games, all with their own mods and user made content, plus a ton of amazingly high quality standalone fan games (dr robotnik's ring racers is a recent fave of mine). You also have MUCH better access to older games on PC. You can be assured that stuff from the PS3 era will work superbly on modern PCs, and even a lot of 90s games work well out of the box on linux without needing to jump through hoops, in contrast to not even being able to play PS3 games on PS4. There's SO many cool aspects of modern gaming you can only experience on PC and it's not just playing microtransaction laden AAA games with marginally better graphics than on consoles.
This was meant to be about my disinterest in the switch 2 (not to say I think it'll be awful, I haven't looked enough into it, but I've already got my modern gaming covered by my computer unless some especially good exclusives win me over) but I got sidetracked and I just ended up gushing about how much i love computers oops

This was supposed to be for @asususasa but in the middle of writing I thought this could be useful for someone else, so here's Tacky's general list of otome recs. It took me over an hour to write so I'm not proofreading it.
DS
Not much to say here because back in those days otome games didn't get localized. The stand outs are Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Side 1st Love Plus and Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Side 2nd Season, who have English fan translations. Slice of life games where you play as the protagonist through her three years of high school. And if you feel like a student-teacher romance that would make Sakura Kinomoto's mom proud, these are your games.
PSP
Still well into the no localizations era with one exception: Hakuouki Demon of the Fleeting Blossom. Not recommending it on PSP because there are better versions. Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Side 3rd Story Premium also has a fan translation and should be played over its DS counterpart because it has added functionalities. Sadly this time around the teacher is a secret character and a shota.
3DS
There's Hakuoki Memories of the Shinsengumi. Still not recommended because we can do better.
PS3
Hakuouki Stories of the Shinsengumi includes the original game and the fandisk with some neat animations added. This is the version to play if you want the original experience. If you want even more routes, go for another version.
Vita
Hakuoki Kyoto Winds and Edo Blossoms, Collar x Malice and Amnesia are the best games you can get for the Vita imo. Some people dig a lot the Psychedelica of the Ashen Hawk and Psychedelica of the Black Butterfly (I've only played BB, it was good but wasn't the best; wouldn't rate it as high as the others). There's Code Realize and its two fandisks (Future Blessings and Wintertide Miracles) and many people swear by them, but while I liked the common route in the first game, the rest didn't do it for me. You can find all of these except CxM and the CRs on Steam, and the Hakuoki games get dirst cheap on sale. Best bang for your buck of the saga. The CR games have PS4 ports and CxM has a Switch one, which you already know.
Switch
*rolls up sleeves* LET'S GO.
To get it out of the way: Hakuouki KW and EB are getting a Switch rerelease and a new translation and will be released as a single game, Hakuoki Chonicles of Wind and Blossom, on August 1st.
Collar x Malice fucking nails the mystery and lowkey horror vibes with and excellent plot that's interconnected in every route. CxM Unlimited is its fandisk and only recommended if you really have the CxM itch, because it's mostly fluff and the little plot there is is at most functional. It has a route where Ichika joins Adonis and you get to see its inner workings though. That was very interesting.
Bustafellows is 100% found family vibes with a very assertive protagonist. It's a mystery/action story and the team dynamics are sort of Ocean's 11-ish. Hilarious, heartbreaking at times, I've never felt more dread in a game than heading towards the basement in a certain's guy's route. There are two unlockable stories after you finish the routes of the guys, one of which I thought was glorious, another which sets up a sequel and is a big downer but I also really liked. It gets heavy at times with murder, suicide, sexual assault, human trafficking, among other kinds of violence, but despite it, it's generally a very funny and upbeat game. We're getting the sequel next year. Also available on PC.
Café Enchanté baits you with the premise of being a girl who manages a coffee shop patronized by handsome supernatural beings, so it's a real surprise when the cannibalism shows up. Anyway. Great game, but I'm afraid saying more would kind of defeat the point. Reminds me of Megami Tensei games, so if coffee shop AUs with supernatural world-ending threats are your thing, go for it. Just be warned that the fandom has kind of collectively agreed that poster boy's route never happened.
Birushana is a hidden gem that goes on sale super cheap and is also probably a hit or miss thing. You play as the legendary Yoshitsune, who in this game is a girl disguising her gender, but she's an amazing warrior as in history. It has the best otome couple I've ever seen, bar none, with Yoshitsune and Noritsune. The game is worth the price just to see them fall in love on the battlefield and watch Noritsune chug down Respect Women Juice all the way through it. The thing is... the rest of routes aren't great. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed how utterly unhinged they got at times, but the plot got worse as it deepened. Still. Noritsune. And I loved that most of the guys respected her as a warrior and were aware she was as capable or a better warrior than them and she didn't need a man to protect her. Very refreshing. One of my faves got done dirty by the translation because they started pulling lines out of thin air to make him creepier. Just him. Why. It's not like he needed the help.
Virche Evermore Error Salvation is also a good one if you can handle continuous drama and see egregiously bad science and say, "You know what? It's magic. Humans in this world are just built different." The worldbuilding is really interesting and the characters very enjoyable, though they don't feature a lot in each other's routes or aren't that friendly with each other. The continuous tragedy may tire you out, or maybe it'll work and emotionally destroy you. It didn't get any emotional reaction out of me until a certain point near the end, but I enjoyed the game a lot, nevertheless. We're getting the sequel this November and I'm really looking forward to it.
Variable Barricade: a fun romp where a young heiress has to chose a fiancé among the four disaster bachelors her grandpa has selected. It's not really similar to Ouran, but it reminded me a little of it at times. It's a pretty light game. The BFF is a gothic lolita otaku who has the time of her life shipping you with the guys, and the butler... oh boy the butler.
Amnesia, as I mentioned earlier, has a PC port as well as the Vita version, as well as two localized fandisks for the Switch (Amnesia x Crowd) that I can't speak of because I haven't played them yet. The protagonist has supernatural amnesia and must piece together her life while avoiding that other people realize she's lost her memory. It's a super intriguing game the first time you play, really nailed the being completely and utterly lost in the protagonist's shoes. A required play to get in on the cage jokes. It's sort of a rite of passage for otome gamers.
Jack Jeanne has probably the best group dynamics of any otome I've seen. I think some people have issues with the protagonist because they find her passive, but to me she felt the complete opposite. Everybody is adorable. A sentimental story of hard work, being young and and fighting for your dreams, 10/10, no notes. I lied, there's a note: Tanakamigi deserved a route! Where is our Tanakamigi route! щ(゜ロ゜щ)
Last but not least at all, the two Piofiores. Mafia games where all trigger warnings you can think of apply. Well, maybe not the cannibalism, that's still Café Enchanté's crowning glory. Fated Memories, the first one, has its ups and downs, but has very enjoyable characters, rock-solid worldbuilding, an amazing atmosphere set in 1920s Italy with a jazzy soundtrack that ends up living rent free in your brain. The last routes of the first game, Gil's and Finale, are worth the full price of the game alone. Piofiore Episodio 1926 is a masterpiece of the otome genre. It doesn't have a single boring route, and the final stretch (Advent Calendar-Alternativa-Secret Character route) has the best writing I've seen in an otome. Lots of points of view and situations interconnecting, an excellent final couple, top notch interactions between the main characters. Just the best.
#honorable mention to olympia soirée the most heterosexual otome i've ever played#i felt a visceral rejection towards it so i cannot recommend it#but i acknowledge it's a great game if you don't mind the constant talk of reproducing#tacky ramblings

02/19/25: Wednesday fleamarket finds! Didn't see a few regulars. But I still found goodies. The first thing found was a Promotional not for sale Coraline 3d Bluray for $2.00. I then spotted a guy with some tools/hardware and he had a few videogames. Sadly, some snes and n64 games he had were obvious etsy knockoffs. But he still had some legit games. I tried to get a beat up 32x cart copy of Doom for five bucks, but the guy said no. So I paid $10 each for SNES Power Rangers The fighting edition and NES The Best of the Best Championship Karate. The next place got me some interesting, sealed horror dvds and a Soul Calibur 3 strategy guide. The dvds I fished out of a boxfull, are all very similar. They even have a reduction sticker. They have a 'gas station' bargain clearance look to them. I happily paid the man the $7.00 he wanted for them. I then found a super generic corded ps4 controller for $2.00. My brother needs a spare and it's worth the shot to see if it works. Next seller is that stingy fellow. He again had a box of interesting movies. I wanted a few more, but I needed to hold back a bit. But I still got some nice series, more blurays and I think I just completed a Three Stooges Volume that I was missing. I bought 11 discs from him and it ended up being $33 for the lot. And lastly, I found something I haven't seen in a few years, a PS Vita game! It was all the way in the back of the fleamarket with the guy who sells stuff real cheap. And cheap it was! I paid a dollar for it. The case is warped and scratched, but it's complete! The Walking Dead ps vita was a nice end to the fleamarket trip.

Also uhm.
This blog is about videogames technically, I know.
I've played both of the ps4 spider-man games this year and they bewitched me. Beautiful and so so fun and so damn satisfying to play honestly. Peter Parker is perfectly balanced between being endearing and being an annoying little dweeb I wanna shove into a locker. Miles Morales is characterised perfectly (my sweet little boy my dearest son whom I love so dearly) and I was also pleased that Miles' game didn't shy away from the themes of race trauma that come with his narrative. The dynamic with him and the Tinkerer felt right, it felt like it was hitting some important points about the trauma of growing up a working class person of colour and the precariousness of your opportunities and future in a way that I felt some connection with - a very nice story I think, even if it was shorter than I anticipated.
The story being slightly shorter than I would have liked though, it kind of balanced out a bit by how rich it is with detail and characterisation. All of the characters in Miles' narrative are given just enough development and attention, so I don't feel entirely cheaped out by the story being short.
Plus the side stories are adorable, exploring Miles' journey of self discovery as he establishes himself as both a 'second spider-man' but also as a young man of colour working in a role that is associated with whiteness. I feel there was a lot there that helped strengthen the player's connection with him. (I'm biased, of course, being a brown hispanic person who always felt some connection with Miles Morales lol)
There were points in Spider-Man Miles Morales that made me feel pangs of real emotion, you know, which means they certainly did a lot of things right.
Oh, and that one side story in which he and the Prowler work together to produce a little song with the samples his dad wanted to make music with??? Oh, you best believe I melted into a little puddle on the floor because it was so beautiful. I've always had a special attachment to Miles' interest in music because hey, I was also a little hispanic boy who used to hog the computer for hours to play around with my silly little experimental beats when I was in primary school. Dude, I've been him and I am him. Made me feel so many things.
Overall, I think I was impressed by the sheer amount of stuff there was to do in the first one and how much they managed to fit into the game... But in terms of writing and characters I think Miles Morales was a far better experience for me. There were so many points where I felt emotional playing it, connecting deeply with it as a nerdy hispanic POC, so kudos for that.
There's the obvious things you've probably heard before, too - the movement mechanics being extremely satisfying and cathartic, the environments and sounds being super engaging... Even simply swinging around through New York feels really fun, which is 100% vital for any Spider-Man game. Since the ps2 era, nobody wants to play a Spider-Man game that doesn't have smooth and satifying movement mechanics. These games absolutely impress in that regard, of course. I'm soooo late of course, because when the games originally came out I couldn't afford them but I'm so glad I got copies and played them through. They were so worth it!

I have been in full-on Recluse Mode lately. in the interest of communicating a little more, let me share with you what games I have been playing lately:
MyHouse.wad (finally! had been meaning to play this for years. I have gotten the default ending and might maybe try to look for more branches of the maze when I feel up to facing all those monsters again.)
FAITH: The Unholy Trinity (fuck, finally, someone made a good horror game. I have gotten the best ending in chapters 1 and 2 and have made it to the final boss of 3.)
I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream (ah! wow! this is not my kind of horror game. it's honestly a kinda average adventure game but one that has subject matter that makes me feel gross and depressed and not want to play it. which probably means other people will like it a lot more than me, as I am coming to terms with the fact my tastes *are* weird.)
Who's Lila? (oh wow... I was so curious about this one but it's *also* a kinda average adventure game? albeit with a Mario Party minigame permanently attached to the screen that you have to keep playing. the Easy Mode just gives you a lot more time to do that, which is a sign that the developers were simply unable to balance it properly and had to give you a bandaid solution. I may have to just watch some YouTuber play this one, as the story *probably* gets good!)
Cyberpunk 2077 (I found a surprisingly cheap PS4 at a local pawn shop and picked this game up with it. the PS4 is good for watching blu-rays, even more convenient than a dedicated player. for gaming it is *comically* bad. I may have a bias against PlayStation, the fucking failure of a brand whose first-party properties have serious "AI-generated corporate brand" vibes.... but I thought I was just being stupid! but no! the PS4 cannot game. the controller feels like cheap plastic, and the console itself has a cooling fan with the volume of a jet engine and it will *shake my entire bedroom* if I want to play any game, any game at all. even doom 2016, which it should be more than capable of running. the *menus* on doom 2016 push the PS4's fans into overdrive, there is no refuge. in cyberpunk I can at least pause the game every 30 seconds and wait 20 seconds for the fans to go silent, before unpausing and playing for another 30 seconds. ....it's fucking awful. gaming with a permanent headache, my whole body assaulted with noise and vibrations. .......but uh, Cyberpunk itself honestly seems like fun. I don't really give the slightest shit about the aesthetic, but to my surprise they buried a perfectly good game under there. can't say the same about Sony and any perfectly good gaming consoles, though. the PS2 was the last competent console they released, and that's the one I have a *grudge* against, because It killed the Dreamcast. for what!! for decades of garbage consoles afterwards?? get a damn Xbox. or, when you want to actually play games for real and stop fucking around with these childish insecure "GAMING FOR ADULTS" aesthetics, just get a fucking Nintendo, like god intended. mic dropped.)
Doom 2, in QuestZDoom. (in VR. I have the first three Dooms just.. permanently installed on my quest 2, along with Half-Life. this is admittedly still one of the coolest things ever, that I can just play these games in VR whenever I want. anyway, I have never actually played through Doom 2. never done it. never even tried to. so my first playthrough is in VR. I average about 10 maps a day, on the easiest difficulty because I have no shame. I did not know just how troll-y Doom 2 was. I also did not know everyone was just *wrong* about the city levels, I'd always heard the city levels sucked! but no! they're the best part!! I had a blast with the city levels!! god I LOVE mazes!!!)
oh yeah, also, Starfield. (I managed to find a mod that forces the game to not use 4k textures, and that actually solved most of my performance issues. it still stops to load every now and then, but it hasn't crashed to desktop in a long time now. so I went and finished a quest. I do *kinda like* Starfield, I like the promise of freedom, and I automatically love anything that's first-person. I wouldn't mind actually *playing through* Starfield. I already like it more than any Fallout game-- that's just a bias, I find mass media's fixation on Wasteland Post-Apocalyptica to be boring as hell, to the point of ruining whatever good there is to find in the media itself. but it is not as good as Skyrim. maybe it could *compete* with other Bethesda games if it.. was actually optimized properly? but then it wouldn't be a Bethesda game.)
and yeah, I think that's it.
will get back to you when I play more video games.

what is the best way to get a skateboard early into the game? I prototyped a copy of Tony Hawks Pro Skater 1+2 for the PS4 (TONYHAWKSPRITE, BABY), and, as expected, there is now an in depth trick system and all of the imps have skateboards.
This was hilarious and completely intended, and i have no regrets in the SLIGHTEST.
But unfortunately, the skateboards are now classified as part of their body, and therefore, are turned into grist with them when killed. I was kinda banking on just taking one from them. And also i have a sneaking suspicion that skating gives scaling stat increases.
There are many way to alchemize a cheap skateboard, but it requires some wheeled mode of transport. A bicycle. Roller skates. A train. Heelys. And && some sort of a board to it.
Sincerely

Pro tip for Code Realize: It's a console only title at the moment. Your best bet to find it cheap would be to get the PS4 editions. You can find those cheap online or go to your local gamestop periodically.
Right now the game on switch appears to be out of print physically, but you can get the digital only version for pretty decent price during sales.
I have yet to find any emulation versions of the game. A pity, because the game is just that good.
I was thinking I might just digitally buy it on the switch next time it's on sale.
Edit: I did just put the PS4 version on my Amazon wishlist. Maybe I'll ask about getting it for my birthday

Ps4 games I recommend !!!!
Bioshock 1 and 2
Highly recommended, it's a First person shooter but maaaaan it's world and story is insane good
10/10 highly recommended
Tomb Raider - any of them
You already know, it's really good feel they could of leaned into the horror more tho
The Last of Us
If you want a game that's story driven this is it. Zombies and open world. Really good
9/10
Final Fantasy 7 Remake
- another looooong game. Its one of the best role playing games that exists. Sort of long tho
Love it, 9/10
Hogwarts Legacy
More modern ( released just this year) If you appreciate Harry Potter (notice I didn't even say be a fan) you ll looove this. Very good story great mechanics to make you feel like a wizard
10/10
Batman
No words needed. Any of them would do. Should be cheap by now ( though Arkham City is the best one and i recommended that one)
10/10
.... I mean you play as the Batman. No more is needed to be said.
Control
Highly recommend this one for you. I would actually buy it for you no joke. The less said the better about this game I liked it a lot. It was described as if Twin Peaks and The X-Files had a crossover episode that was actually a video game. That’s essentially what Control is, a creepy-spooky third-person action game
9/10
Persona 5
A weird anime game looool. Really quirky. Play as a teenage kid talking to girls and part time girls and you'll spend your time in the supernatural metaverse breaking into the psyches of dangerous criminals and changing their hearts with arcane magic and the help of a talking cat
Bit of an acquired taste ngl
Stray
Soooo cuuuuuteee. You play as a cat it's just tooo cuute
Uncharted
You like Tomb Raider? Try this one out I think it's a better execution of the concept I actually really recommend this one
10/10
I ll send a horror one if you want but idk if you are onto that
@mhtyr I have a present for you, it was delivered to the wrong address 😅

dhdjjdjd i totally get u i am a slut for anything cherry scented idk why but if i see a cherry scented body mist i have to buy it i don’t make the rules (i just got this one from VS it’s called cherry desire and omfgggg it might be the best cherry scent ive found yet) and also sabrina carpenter has a cherry perfume it’s called cherry baby and it’s really good too!! def fruity & floral but not overly sweet imo. actually i could keep going about cherry scents like very good girl elixir is so good too and it has rose in it too.
i hope you can treat yourself soon if you get the chance and want to, respectfully! gisou has minis for their hair perfumes now on sephora too which are a tiny bit more affordable but still like. not cheap by any means and i actually did get the sol minis from sephora too, i’ve never ordered directly from their site because of shipping as well.
also for transparency technically sol 40 “doesn’t” have notes of cherry i don’t think but it smells very cherry to me and layers really well with cherry scents.
omg yeah sims is constantly releasing updates and if u have mods they’re so difficult to reinstall, i downloaded a bunch once, lost them with an update and was like. never again. i feel u tbh i cannot stay motivated to play games, i got a switch like almost two years ago now and i rarely touch it because i can’t stay focused long enough to do anything. i used to play a lot of multiplayer and/shooter games like siege, overwatch, dbd, some other zombie co-op games, ive never played tlou but i’ve wanted to, esp the second one but games are so expensive and the likelihood of me finishing it is incredibly low. if a game has crafting and/or looting i do not want to play it😭😭😭
gaming companies are so greedy, it’s been bad too with nothing coming out for ps4 anymore already and everything is only for ps5 now… and they just keep remastering tlou and never putting it on sale so you’d not only have to buy a whole new console but also the game at full price game :((
have u watched the tlou show? and if so, did you like it? (not forced tho if u don’t want to talk about it of course)
cherry is just the top fruit, like when i see the dove cherry shampoo/body scrub i'm just like... i need it. but i gotta finish the pomegranate ones i bought first lol and omg thanks for the recommendation!! cherry baby sounds so good, if i ever come across it i'd probably buy it. i've seen the minis but they're still so expensive imo 🥲 that's why i'd probably ask for it as a gift, sol too.
the mods are what make the sims good tbh... i can't play without it lmfaoo even on my macbook idc i download so many. you always have to update them but rn i haven't done the patch bcs no way i am playing with these new bugs ea have made (you can't even drag the dirty plates into the sink bruh). but anyway the sims are just more and more disappointing so yeah.
i want to play fps games too but i only have cod lmfaoo and it gets repetitive real fast. honestly im fine with just an old ps3, the first tlou version is so nostalgic and the graphics are still good. i love looting and crafting but it's so annoying when you've done the game so many times lmfao. the remastering is just a cash grab and it's disappointing to see game companies do this, they give you no choice but to upgrade if you wanna play the recent games
i did watch the show!! tbh i'm not a big critic and enjoy something as long as it's entertaining, but it was not great how they handled the story in season 2 😭 season 1 is fine and i think overall the story was captured really well. i just would've wished joel's character was more like the game and less soft but that's all. then season 2... well everyone agrees to say it was just a mess lol. at the beginning i wasn't too bothered, i even laughed at the bits where ellie & dina were being silly, like why not, that was sweet, but ellie's character was just stupid. i think it was the biggest flaw to have made ellie into this weak, unintelligent, non-responsible person when she's supposed to lead an assassination basically?? it's not even who she is in the game and it makes the story so confusing. besides ellie, i didn't like that tommy didn't seek revenge, that ellie & jessie just seemed to not like each other, put all the flashbacks in one episode, and much more, i can't name them all in one post lol. but this whole thing just infuriated me so much when people started to be mean and honestly misogynistic towards bella ramsey (like let's talk about how men can be so ruthlessly mean to women they find unattractive??) it wasn't their fault for how the show turned out, like they were directed to act this way. like, everyone just agreed for them to portray ellie like that so the only people we had to blame was the producers.

Hey! It's me the autism person that loves Soap and that Eng is not my first language!
To make it more easy since I'm anon and soms other people that reply to you are also anon. I use well anon emoji so it will be easy for you and me.
So this is me anon 🐶
Anyway, to reply your answers. I agree Simon can be flawed/bad partner in relationship. I have read Simon Riley 2009 version comic, I have read on website, and.... What the fuuuuuuck?! Simon really need a big hug. It's so messed up story (also pretty edgy not gonna lie).
You have a point about when you say "But simon riley is not an abusive man. and i think where the confusion starts is that most of this fandom conflates “bad partner” with “abusive partner.” you don’t have to be abusive to be a bad partner. he very specifically hates his dad, an abusive alcoholic and drug addict, because of how abusive he was to him and his mother. i don’t think he would want to perpetuate that at all." I have never thought about it, it's true yes.
Oef yes, he really hates his dad. I dont think his father is abusive to his mother, and the father was neither abusive to Simon's brother, I thought his father only abused him, but maybe i'm wrong, it's been a while I have read that comic. I remember well he grabbed an therapist woman roughly by her neck(?) when he sat in therapy, because he doesn't want to take pills anymore for ptsd or something like that? I don't know if there's explanation in the comic of how he feels afterwards, but I believe Simon regret that action what he has done to her by grabbing her neck(?) because he's been through a lot. And that situation will be first and last time that Simon has done.
Same! Besides Simon had what character development in reboot 2022, so he's what more open person(?). I believe if he has partner, yes, he may be bad partner but he do his best to make the partner happy.
Well I have bought MW og trilogy for ps3 and surprising it's cheap that games. I honestly still don't understand why Activision won't remaster the original mw 3. Well Activision is greedy. But for the people that don't have ps3 console I understand they can't play the og trilogy games. Well two of the three are remastered for ps4. Ghost's comic for $100 dollars?! Now thankfully I have read it on website! And Yeah you're right there is no excuse since there is enough resources like on YouTube with playthroughs with no commentary, wiki.
I'm honestly not surprised they find tiktok and character ai. Well my sister said, you can find EVERYTHING on tiktok. 😅
Anon - 🐶
well, hello again, pup anon!!
i wholeheartedly agree. simon would not be a great partner, but he would really try to be, and i think that’s what counts. it’s just unfair to use his reaction to his therapist (a trauma response) as a measure as to how he’d treat his partners.
like, would you want your worst moments to be how people perceive you? i sure wouldn’t.
(and you are so right, simon needs a really big hug. maybe i’ll give him one.)

FFVII : Remake
It's been about 2 years since I bought it cheap, and I've finally finished it.

I remember well when the game released: Me and my neighbour never had much in common, but one day, they approached me "You look like someone who plays Final Fantasy VII. How'd you like the Remake?"
And I went "I don’t like that they changed the story." which was met with some incomprehension.
So why did I buy it if I didn't like it from the start? Because it's the best FFVII has ever looked. From the look to the gameplay, FFVII was successfully upgraded to today's gaming standards.
And, after actually playing it (and finishing it), I have to say that my biggest beef isn't with the changes to the story - or, well, it is, but not so much with the multiverse / time-travel thing Square added on top.
But let's not get ahead of myself.

Graphics
This is the criteria in which FFVII Remake shines the most. Whether you're playing on PS4 or PS5, the graphics are simply stunning. The world, monsters and characters are all the most detailled and realistic-looking they have ever been (and that's taking the movie into consideration).
I can very well imagine that there are players out there who wanted to play the original FFVII but were put off by its heavily outdated graphics. In all honesty, even its immediate successor, FFVIII, which also released on PS1, looks much better by comparison.
One potential caveat I've noticed is that passages in FFVII:R are often very long and narrow. I'm assuming this is a way to better manage the PS4's resources, as being able to see less of the level at once allows the console to preload more objects in the background. Yet while walking along those passages can get a little boring, they fit the setting of the crowded metropolis.

Gameplay
It took me a while to appreciate the revamped gameplay, and despite of being a long-time gamer and friend of turn-based RPGs, it's not the action part I had a problem with. In fact, FFVII:R needed to have action gameplay in order to appeal to the gamers of today. And it did a really good job in that aspect. I especially like that every character can be controlled in battle and they all feel unique.
What irritated me at first was how the old ATB system was integrated. Take the Air Buster boss fight for example. It requires you to precisely time your dodges, blocks and hits to minimize damage to yourself - but at the same time, you have to issue commands to your team mates. And every time you bring up the menu, time slows to a crawl. It has to, because there's so much stuff to consider and choose from. Yet at the same time it breaks the flow of the "action part" of the fight. When you're done navigating the menu - were you about to dodge or block or attack?
Something else that often came up as a problem was having the wrong type of materia equipped to properly deal with an enemy, or running out of MP to use it. The Hell House boss fight is a perfect example for this problem as you need to have Ice, Thunder and Fire equipped to handle it effeciently (and Assess, ideally, to help you figure this out). More often than not, it's not possible to rely only on the action part of gameplay during fights.
However, as I progressed through the game, both issues became less and less prominent - largely due to characters gaining more materia slots and growing in strength.
I did enjoy especially the Rufus boss fight as dealing with him was all about the right timing.
Last, but not least - I wished there would've been an option to change the character that is controlled in battle by default. I often stuck with Cloud as sometimes enemies were already half-dead by the time I had switched to another party member. Perhaps Rebirth added this Quality of Life feature?
Music
I do like most of the arranged tracks, except for the battle and boss theme, but I don't like the jukebox music. It's simply too different in style and tone from the original tracks it's based off.

Story
Defying Fate
As mentioned before, and as you'll likely already know, FFVII:R wants to be Canon Divergence rather than a faithful recreation of canon. And it draws attention to that by introducing a subplot about ghost-like beings that try to maintain the original plot, Aerith being aware of the original timeline, and Sephiroth wanting to escape from that timeline.
In the end, our party fights fate - though the reason why never became clear to me. After all, in the original timeline, meteor was stopped, Sephiroth defeated, and the only real loss was Aerith. During the final fight before the final fight in FFVII:R, all of our party members glimpse this future, but Square used only segments from Advent Children to show. What about all the good stuff that happened before that? The arbiters of fate even save Barret (and, arguably, the whole party) in the last chapter - if anything, sticking to fate up until just before Aerith's death should seem desirable.
I mean, this isn't FFXV, in which the entire world went straight to hell.
Sephiroth
Sephiroth doesn't make much sense, either. But it's not like I had expected that from him, anyway. Sephiroth doesn't need a clear motive. But what he needs is a good build-up. To me, Sephiroth being known far and wide as a video game villain doesn't excuse him lacking a proper introduction in Remake. In the original FFVII, Sephiroth wasn't heard or seen throughout the Midgar episode at all. But he was there - the ominous, dark presence that caused a power outage, dragged Jenova's body around the building and had already killed the Shinra President before the party got there.
Sephiroth was like a powerful, invisible threat (like Jaws, or so a developer once said). The story telling had you on edge, awaiting his reveal and the subsequent battle. And while today, we already know it's Sephiroth, I still think revealing him right at the start in one of Cloud's hallucinations was a huge missed opportunity to build up the player's anticipation.
The pacing
The pacing in this game is what raisins in nut mix are to some - the one thing that spoils the experience. There are so many scenes that require you to follow an NPC *veeeery slowly* (and do not allowed you to turn back to explore) - the plot takes numerous detours to explore characters that had very little relevance in the original (such as Jesse, Biggs and Wedge) or were created exclusively for Remake (Johnny, Leslie, Tifa's Landlord Marle).
Sadly, none of them or their stories contribute to the overall plot of FFVII or the backstories or development of the main party. Due to this, they end up serving only as filler to pad the Midgar segment of the original game from 5 to around 40 hours.
I would like to argue that focusing on the main characters; for example, by giving the player Tifa and/or Barret and/or Aerith-centric side quests, the time could have been spent in more meaningful ways.
A few of those "detours" were meaningful, however. For example, Cloud and Tifa interacting with one of Sephiroth's clones. In the original, they were bizarre NPCs with extremely limited dialogue (if any) whose relevance became clear only much, much later. And, of course, Barret confronting President Shinra - a meeting that could not happen in the original as the President was already dead at that time.
In conclusion
FFVII:R is a very mixed bag. Some will like it - for example, those die hard fans of FFVII, and also a decent amount of people who never played the original or knew what it was about. Which is ironic, as Remake relies on that knowledge to some degree. However, the primary plot of the Midgar segment is the "Avalanche vs Shinra" subplot, so not knowing what the game is about in general should cause only minor to medium confusion. And, let's face it; Japanese RPGs are often difficult to fully understand, anyway, since their plots can be very complex.
If you're like me, and were looking for a faithful recreation of the original that utilizes all the processing power of modern consoles; It is that, but almost exclusively in terms of gameplay. It tried to add to the original story, but failed to expand the universe in meaningful ways, thus damaging the plot and pacing instead of improving on it.
I haven't played Rebirth yet, but if it contains considerably less padding (which I'm expecting, as Rebirth is not tied to Midgar as its location), you might be better off skipping Remake and picking up Rebirth right away.
