[Pairing]: Villain!Miguel x Spider-Woman![Reader]
[Synopsis]: Miguel has encountered a respectable scientist from another competitor and things get interesting.
[TW]: Female Reader insert, Marvel/ATSV Violence, and Moral Quarrels
[A/N]: This is inspired by @exhaslo’s Corruption series. Ex, if you’re reading this, you’re an awesome writer and I adore your work. Especially the smu-!
Just another day at ALCHEMAX, employees with their assigned duties and responsibilities while heads lowered to avoid distractions. Though, many stir clear from one such scientist, specifically the infamous geneticist and son of the company’s owner, Dr. Miguel O’Hara. A ruthless madman who would do anything to “improve” humanity, no matter whose life is destroyed.
However, things would change when another famous company signed a deal, a collaboration where both respectable parties will start working together for future projects. People whisper among themselves that the other also has their own infamous scientist, but they seem a little "nicer" than O’Hara. For such example, they don’t risk anyone’s live and safety during highly dangerous experiments.
Meet…
[Y/N], a bright and cold bioengineer: I’m Dr. [Y/N] [L/N]. It seems my company is collaborating with yours for the entire year.
Villain!Miguel: “Shock, she’s beautiful.” It appears so.
[Y/N]: My director informed that I’ll be working with you for the time being. Here’s my business card, and contact me for work purposes only.
Villain!Miguel: “Cold and strict. Shocking Hell, gonna melt [Y/N] and make her mine.”

As weeks flew by since the start of the collaboration, workers from both sides feel the high tension between O’Hara and [L/N]. Everyday is eventful from the two who always battle each other with different ideas to deem whose is better with less casualties. They even bicker during break times.
[Y/N]: Absolutely not! We are not jeopardizing our coworkers for your cruel experiments. We need to start with smaller subjects before human trials.
Villain!Miguel: Think of the possibilities, [L/N]. Humanity needs better outcomes so it’s best to use them.
[Y/N]: O’Hara, we’re trying to help others. Not play God by sacrificing many people.
Villain!Miguel: Help. You think it would change for the better.
[Y/N]: Rather to continue with testing than have high body counts. It’s why our companies signed together, to enhances civilians so they can live healthier and be at the appropriate age to move on from life.
Villain!Miguel: “Even her view on humanity is too good, and macabre.”

As the sun already set with lights of Nueva York shun bright through the night’s darkness, trouble already started. Criminals from many corners of the city have begun with their dirty work, however a certain spider has to prevent the rates from climbing up.
Spider-Woman: *Hangs the defeated criminals in her web* “Stupid shocking O’Hara. Why so obsessed with messing with people? Trying to prove to someone?” *Sighs* At least these idiots are easy tonight…
Spider-Woman notifies the police to clean the mess up and shoots her webbing, swinging out of the scene. She swung from buildings to skyscrapers while discreet at best to avoid witnesses…

“Did you see the news?”
“An actual hero.”
“We haven’t seen one since the Era of Heroes.”
Word got around as scientists and nosy coworkers gossip among themselves about the mysterious hero. Though they sounded in disbelief, were ecstatic that an actual heroic figure is present in their precious city.
[Y/N]: People, we have work to do. You can talk during your breaks, but not while doing your routines.
Everyone around Dr. [L/N] groan and return to their work while some need their coffee. As unfortunate timing for [Y/N], a familiar presence casted over her.
Villain!Miguel: You don't like the new hero?
[Y/N]: *Not turning to face him while feeling disgust and annoyance* O'Hara. No, it's a distraction. We have other priorities to fulfill before fooling around.
Villain!Miguel: So uptight. Have you actually loosened up during your hours?
[Y/N]: I'm just doing my job. Unlike you, a reckless scientist who care less of others. *Walks past Miguel without looking at him the slightest*
Villain!Migual: *Chuckles lowly* We'll see about that.

Later in the evening, [L/N] had to deliver some late-night reports to Miguel’s office and arrived at the door. She heard from other ALCHEMAX workers of how secretive he is with his work, so he has his A.I. assistant, L.Y.L.A. to drop updates of any whereabouts that concern him.
L.Y.L.A.: *Materializes in front of the bioengineer* Hey girl! Here to drop some reports, I see.
[Y/N]: Yes, I just finished them. Could you let me in?
L.Y.L.A.: Sure thing! *Opens the automated doors to the office* Just be aware I have eyes everywhere. *Adjusts her heart-shaped glasses and smirks*
[Y/N]: “Not for long.”
[Y/N] shivers as the cool air from the room hits her. Before entering, she pulls out a hard drive and inserts it in the keypad next to the doors.
L.Y.L.A.: What are you-
[Y/N]: *Calmly commands* Shut the cameras off.
L.Y.L.A.: *Shuts them off unwillingly* What did you do?
[Y/N]: Just updated your system and added in something that can benefit me. *Her eyes glare down at the A.I.* I want you to follow these commands: don't record any footage involving my presence, especially with audio recordings. This includes what I'm about to commit tonight. And also, don't tell Miguel about this. If you do, I’ll insert a nasty virus that you’ll never recover from. Do I make myself clear?
L.Y.L.A.: *Nods silently and disappears*
Then [Y/N] steps into the room, observing the unfamiliar surrounding and proceeds to drop off the reports. Afterwards, she searches through his desk and found notes explaining some unethical experiments.
[Y/N]: Genetically modified arachnids? O'Hara, what are you playing with? *Snaps most of the notes with her phone*
[Y/N] took more images of the arachind species displayed in the office and neatly places everything back in order. She leaves the room quickly and returns home like nothing happened.

Nights passed since that event, Spider-Woman swings around the city. The breeze hitting her face as being shielded behind her mask, performing the duties as presumably the only hero people are protected by and all seems normal. Until she encounters another problem.
Spider-Woman: *Lands on the wall and sneakily crawls into a safe space to relax a little* Oh my god, that bastard is playing like if he’s God. No worries, he’s just a pawn I’ll knock down.
Then her Spider-Sense is triggered.
Spider-Woman: Shit, someone’s here. *Hides in the shadows*
As Spider-Woman peeks out, she sees a menacingly tall figure stood with his back turn to her view. Dark, skin-tight blue suit with intimidating crimson accents.
Spider-Woman: “Who is he? Wait, that can’t be him, right? I know that backside from anywhere. Ugh, why did I acknowledge the details?"
The crime fighter escapes through the shadows and swings away from the scene.

Back at ALCHEMAX located in a temporary office, the bioengineer herself couldn’t sleep much since the discovery from that night. She knew the man back at the late hour during one of her patrols. It was none other than Miguel because everything was connected from the notes, catalogs of species, and everything to manipulate nature itself, especially the human kind. While lost in thought, [Y/N] didn’t notice someone behind her…
“[Y/N]?”
[Y/N]: *Spider-Sense triggered and quickly turns around* WHAT?!
Villain!Miguel: *Little surprised* You didn’t have to be that tense with me.
[Y/N]: I…I’m just tired from working long hours. Are you here discussing about the project or to annoy me again?
Villain!Miguel: It’s about the project. Stone requested that before it’s finished...
Miguel's voice in [Y/N]'s perspective became mudded as she couldn't stop thinking of that night when it was obvious that the other Spider is in front of her.

Later at night, Spider-Woman was out patrolling as always, shooting her webs to grapple onto buildings as she swings through her beloved city. Then trouble arose as she witness citizens running away from the source.
Spider-Woman: *Lands on the side of a tower and scans the area* Great, Doc Ock came back. *Leaps off and swings in scene*
Spider-Woman reaches to the chaos her notorious nemesis created. She lands in front of the eight-legged former scientist.
Spider-Woman: I thought you were sent to prison, for help.
Doc Ock: They mean nothing to me. All I want is to show who’s boss and why they shouldn’t have!ignored everything I worked hard for!
Spider-Woman: Ock, we…I would have helped you with another way but your actions killed innocent lives.
Doc Ock: *Scoffs* They were in the way.
Spider-Woman: *Pissed* In the way?! *Shoots webs behind Doc Ock*
The webs attach to a wrecked vehicle and Spider-Woman yanks them towards Doc Ock.
Doc Ock: *Blocks the attack by caging themselves with their mechanical appendages*
Spider-Woman: *Wraps more webs around the tentacles*
However Doc Ock breaks free from their bonds and swings their tendrils, attempting to swat at the arachnid figure. Spider-Woman leaps backwards, performing backflips and throwing some Web-Bombs at the mechanical cephalopod. They become stuck in place due to the blown-out silk.
Spider-Woman: Doc, you need to return back to your cell.
Doc Ock: *Struggling to escape* Never…I rather die than be directed by anyone.
Spider-Woman: *Sighs* Just return back. We already caused enough damage for today.
As she was about to finish catching the villain, another criminal was on the loose. Spider-Woman’s sense was triggered but it was too late, the other figure swoops in, able to knock the spider hero. She braces herself and crashes into a wall.
Spider-Woman: *Plops down and barely moving* G-Goblin! You two are working together? *Struggles to get up*
Goblin: *Smiles sinisterly* Bingo! Octco was merely distracting you.
Spider-Woman: *Able to sit up but was kick down by Goblin*
Goblin: Now I get to squish this pesky spider~
Before Goblin could end the heroism of Spider-Woman, they were yanked back by more web.
Spider-Woman: “Neon red? He’s here. Wait, feeling limp…Fuck, passing out…”

[Y/N] shoots up awake, breathing steadily as she looks around the foreign setting. It seems like a bedroom and looking down, her suit is gone replaced with a university shirt and some shorts.
She gets quickly got out of bed and rush out of the room. Walking quickly on the chill wooden flooring and looking for someone. Then, she stops at an office where her worst nightmare sits behind the desk.
[Y/N]: O’Hara? No, wait, I should address you as that other web-crawler.
Villain!Miguel: You finally figured out. Congrats.
[Y/N]: I already know it’s you because of your backside. Who else has a muscular back shaped like the discontinued Doritos?
Villain!Miguel: And who else was acting too suspicious when I already know you’re Spider-Woman?
[Y/N]: You already know my other identity?
Villain!Miguel: Of course I know. I sense you, by your scent.
[Y/N]: You smelled me?! I need a minute.
♦️🔷🕷️🕸️[Hours Later]🕸️🕷️🔷♦️
[Y/N]: *Carefully sips some tea Miguel brewed for her*
Villain!Miguel: Calm down?
[Y/N]: *Sighs* Yeah, I’m good. Disturbed, but good. When did you get your powers, O’Hara?
Villain!Miguel: I had experimented on myself a couple months back. When did you get yours?
[Y/N]: ...
Villain!Miguel: Heh, won't confess? Guess I'll force it out of you~
[Y/N]: Do that and I'll force something up your ass.
Villain!Miguel: *Laughs a little* This is one of the many things I love about you.
[Y/N]: *Sighs* I was bit by a spider that was genetically modified back in my company. My director put me in charge of developing more advacned medicines to help people. Somehow, one of the specimens escaped from its enclosure and you know the rest. I'm Nueva York's only Spider-Hero, until you came along as an invasive pest.
Villain!Miguel: Where did you even get these spiders?
[Y/N]: Some biologists and other specialists procured these kinds of species, but why am I telling you this? I have a mission to fulfill.
Villain!Miguel: What mission?
[Y/N]: It’s none of your business. Personal matters for me, only.
Villain!Miguel: Fine. Then you don’t mind explaining these.
Miguel pulls out [Y/N]’s suit and gadgets he held up. He got a hold of them when the bioengineer was resting from the last battle.
Villain!Miguel: Voice modifier. You really know how to hide your identity.
[Y/N]: O’Hara, this isn’t for show n’ tell. I need my suit back and my gadgets too.
Villain!Miguel: I can’t let you go yet. I need to know more about your powers.
[Y/N]: Miguel, this isn’t the time for jokes. I have a mission and you’re in the way.
Villain!Miguel: Tell me what’s your mission and maybe I’ll hand everything back.
[Y/N]: I’m not explaining until you give my stuff back.
Villain!Miguel: *Smirks and he levels his face to hers* Make me~
[Y/N]: *Punches his stomach hard*
Villain!Miguel: *Crouches down and lets go of [Y/N]’s gadgets and suit*
[Y/N]: *Quickly gatherings her belongings and exits out of the apartment*

That evening, Spider-Woman was swinging around the city. Leaping from one building to the next skyscraper as she tries to formulate another plan to get rid of Miguel. Safely landing on the rooftop of an apartment complex, [Y/N] removed her mask to get some fresh air. Viewing the city helps her to relax and keep calm.
Spider-Woman: *Spider Senses triggered* What now, O’Hara? *Turns her direction towards his*
Spider-Man: *Lifts his hands up* I just followed you.
Spider-Woman: Followed me? *Turns off her modifier* Did you smell me like a blood hound?! Tracking me down and other creepy shit you do.
Spider-Man: ‘Course not. I put a tracker on you.
Spider-Woman: *Finds the tracker and smashes it to bits* What do you want from me?
Spider-Man: I just want to understand why are you doing this. Why’d you have a vendetta against me?
Spider-Woman: You wouldn’t understand, Miguel.
Spider-Man: I know I don’t. Just tell me why?
Spider-Woman: Want to know why? Fine. I’m only doing this to get back at your father for killing my parents. I’ve planned everything just to bring his empire down, along with his prodigy of a monster. I dedicated my life and education to destroy everything Stone built and tear his family apart so no one else can be harmed by them.
Spider-Man: I’m not like my father. I was never like him.
Spider-Woman: Will you shut it? Just like that murderer, you decide to hide everything from the public for your own gain. I’m giving back what people deserve to know.
Spider-Man: *Feels a painful string from that comment* [Y/N], you don’t have to do this.
Spider-Woman: *Scoffs* Oh, please! I know you’re eyeing me the whole time because you assumed I’m a spy, right?
Spider-Man: “No, I thought you are the most beautiful woman I ever met and wishing to have you with me forever. ㅜ_ㅜ”
Spider-Woman: *Sighs* Miguel, just stay away from me. We’re only coworkers by day, not close after hours. Don’t want you ruining everything. *Shoots her web and swings off*

A week has passed, the two are founded in the most uncomfortable atmosphere. [Y/N], still keeping her word of only communicating with Miguel for work while the mad man himself, he didn’t try anything to disturb the other. Colleagues and other workers already knew something happened between them. And it’s a first to see Miguel in a much depressive state.
At the end of the day, there aren’t any crimes to solve and the bioengineer took this as a night off from her responsibilities for now. Then, someone came to visit.
[Y/N]: *Holding up her phone* What are you doing here?
“Villain”!Miguel: *Sighs* Here. *Holds out a thumb drive* It’s most of the data of ALCHEMAX’s illegal projects.
[Y/N]: *Looks at him suspiciously and carefully takes the thumb drive* You know I’ll be running this if it’s untraceable and hopefully you’re not tricking me.
“Villain”!Miguel: I’m not. Why’d you have to be so cold?
[Y/N]: I don’t trust you, that’s why. You’re Stone’s son and heard from former workers that you were evil enough to force them to participate in dangerous trials. It proves my judgement on you is true.
“Villain”!Miguel: …What if I prove you wrong?
[Y/N]: What?
“Villain”!Miguel: I’ll prove I’m not bad.
[Y/N]: Really? Would that undo the years of torment you caused?
“Villain”!Miguel: No. I can do better. Just give me a chance.
[Y/N]: “I don’t know. He’s probably using this as an advantage against me. Better not let my guard down. Though, he’ll be more persistent if he continues.” Fine, are you willing to put your own father behind bars?
“Villain”!Miguel: If it shows I’m good, yeah.
[Y/N]: “It takes time to gain my trust, you freaky-ass man.”

As months pass, the atmosphere surrounding the two scientists feels lighter. The duo seemed to communicate better without much disdain though they sometimes quarrel and in their case, [Y/N] would be the one to walk away from the conversation to cool off but is always followed by a 6'9 semi-former mad scientist like if he was a dog worried about his fuming owner.
[Y/N]: Dr. O'Hara, would you stop following me? And quit hugging me, I'm working.
"Villain"!Miguel: *Holds her closer to his chest* No. I feel better staying with you.
Some of their colleagues are questioning their dynamic.
"What’s happening with Dr. O'Hara?”
“You think he finally lost his mind?”
“Don’t know, but I think Dr. [L/N] has something to do with his behavior.”
[Y/N]: O’Hara, people are talking about us. Let me go.
“Villain”!Miguel: So? Let ‘em. At least they know not to bother us.
[Y/N]: “Ugh. Such a clingy man.”
In the duration of their time together, the two Spiders were able to gather evidence of Stone’s future plans and defeat other villains connected to him, bringing down the corrupted empire. With his presence gone, someone else would have to take over his position which leads to Miguel filling in the role.
[Y/N]: Well, our collaboration has finished just as Stone is taken custody for his crimes. This means we’ll not see each other as much.
“Villain”!Miguel: Yeah, that’s right.
[Y/N]: It was pleasant working with you while it lasted. Hopefully we’ll work together in the future. *Remains professional but has a sadden look in her eyes*
Before she can leave, Miguel stopped her tracks.
“Villain”!Miguel: Wait. If you’re okay with this, could I buy you a drink? If you’re alright with that. I know it doesn’t make up what happened to you and everything my father did to hurt your family. I want to be better for you and do everything I can to help make your life easier-
[Y/N]: Miguel, stop. With everything we went through these past months of cooperating with our projects for making the future better and safer while stopping your father, I’ll take my chances going out with you.
“Villain”!Miguel: [Y/N]… *Gently holds her hands* Gracias, for trusting me to take you out.
The months after the confession, [Y/N] still works for her company while Miguel runs ALCHEMAX by his own terms. Changing for the better of his employees and botches out the illegal activities Stone left after his arrest. Everything seems to be the same, though the only thing that has evolve were Nueva York’s heroes working as partners and lovers…

[Y/N]: …And they lived happily together for the rest of their lives.
Gabriella: Woah…Love does change people.
[Y/N]: *Smiles warmly* It does. Now… *Tucks her daughter in* It’s bed time, sweetheart.
Gabriella: What happened to the couple?
[Y/N]: I’m sure they’re enjoying life together and keeping each other loved.
♦️🔷🕷️🕸️[Later]🕸️🕷️🔷♦️
[Y/N]: Gabi’s asleep. Miguel, I’m worried.
Miguel: What’s there to worry about?
[Y/N]: Our daughter could have our powers, but the side effects…What if they hurt our baby?
Miguel: Cariño, there’s no worry. I checked and she won’t have to suffer.
[Y/N]: Still, I don’t want her to feel as if the powers are a curse.
Miguel: We’ll do everything we can to help her. Be there for her.
[Y/N]: You’re right. We need to be by her side.
Miguel: Sí, we’ll support her. Hey, maybe we’ll give her some “enforcements” to cheer for her. *Giving her a knowing look*
[Y/N]: *Understood the innuendo* Miguel, I was still sore from our first time. Despite having powers, you ravaged me like a demon in heat.
Miguel: Thought you needed a day off at that time.
[Y/N]: *Deadpans at him* -_- I had to call in sick for the next three days.
Miguel: Then Gabi wouldn’t exist if we didn’t.
[Y/N]: *Sighs* At least it was on a Saturday. Come on, it’s your turn patrolling. Maybe after you come back, we’ll talk about siblings if Gabi is okay with it.
Miguel: *Gets thrilled hearing a possibility of growing his family* I’ll get to it.
[Y/N]: Okay. Just come back in one piece. *Kisses on his lips* And still breathing. I love you.
Miguel: *Smiles down at her* Love you, too.
[THE END]

[A/N]: FINALLY! I FINISHED THIS PIECE THAT’S BEEN IN MY DRAFT FOR MONTHS! Yes, I wrote Villain!Miguel as if he was a neglected puppy who wants to be with the feisty kitten (The [Reader]). But it adds flavor for a Hero x Villain trope. I tried to write the reader as someone who acts cold, but with boundaries they put up for valid reasons. The kind of traits like Viper from Valorant. Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this story.

Riding NOMAD
“Gear Up For The Ride”
deacon st. john x reader
warnings: mentions of hanging, a tiny bit suggestive if you squint
word count: 2.5k
a/n: should i make this into a series? reader loosely takes the place of sarah, however deacon & reader meet at wizard island instead, therefore there’s no complicated history between them. a somewhat less serious version of deacon & reader planning to escape:)
“Deacon? Uh- Corporal St. John, come back.” You speak into your radio, impatiently tapping your foot and leaning against your work table as you awaited his response. After a couple minutes of silence, you huff out an exhale and try again. “St. John, do you copy?”
“I’m here.” The familiar sound of his gruff voice and the roaring engine of his bike blaring over the speaker invaded your eardrums. It was both deafening and comforting at the same time.
“Report in when you get back to the island, I have another requisition form for you.” You ordered, clearing your throat in an attempt to appear professional and collected.
“Yes, ma’am- uh Lieutenant. Deacon out.”
Being stuck in such a stern and harsh environment because of the militia camp was starting to take a toll on you, anything that wasn’t work related was strictly prohibited. Before the world went to shit, you worked for a bioengineering company. Due to your knowledge, the Deschutes County Militia’s leader, Colonel Garret, enlisted you without a doubt in his mind since he needed your help. Your research would contribute into making sufficient weapons for this “holy war” - in his words, against the freaks and now recently, any other survivor encampments.
You wouldn’t be here if you could help it, you didn’t care about the research you had to do and you sure as shit didn’t care to aid in a war. It wasn’t your fight. It’s not like you had a choice, though. It was either this, or trying to survive on your own out there. Unfortunately, it wouldn’t have been the first time you tried, and that’s why you never wanted to experience it again. It was hell, having to sleep with one eye open and never knowing when your next meal would be. So you settled for this. A lesser of two evils, if you will. However, as of late, you found yourself missing those times. Being free to do whatever, no matter if the risk of dying was significantly more probable. It sounded more and more appealing as the days slowly passed you by. And boy were they agonisingly slow.
Deacon had joined the camp around six months back, a dark haired man with tattoos plastered all over his body. An outlaw biker, a drifter, someone you’d never expect to see in a place like this. He was someone Colonel Garret would never usually allow into the camp, but his prior experience in the army was enough to let him in. He was clearly very capable and that’s what the Colonel was looking for.
He had been assigned to do your supply runs for you- thus being the only times you really got to see him. Though over these few months, the two of you had become increasingly fond of each other’s company. The prolonged eye contact and giggles turned into subtle compliments and jokes, which then turned into making up excuses to see each other for no reason other than being together. You even found a way to talk over the radio with him on a private channel.
Of course there’d be hell to pay if you were ever caught, so you were always extra careful. You’d be lying if you said you didn’t give him requisition forms for things you didn’t even need for your research, it was just another excuse to see him… even if it was for only a few minutes.
You had a brief discussion with him once about riding out of here together and leaving all of this behind, but you’d be risking your necks- quite literally, if you actually went through with it. They’d track them both down and have them swinging from a rope without so much as a second thought for going AWOL and breaking the camps rules. To put it simply, the Colonel was balls to the wall insane. With the living conditions here, you almost didn’t care if they hung you, at least you’d die knowing you tried to get away instead of staying quiet and putting up with this way of life.
Hearing Deacon’s bike pull up outside, you dusted down your clothes and fixed your DCM hat, which was ever so kindly provided to you by none other than Colonel Dickhead. It didn’t do much for your appearance, but you deemed it good enough. Though you’d never let it show on the outside, you still got butterflies in your stomach whenever you were about to see Deacon. There was just something about the way he carried himself that was so attractive, even if he wasn’t doing anything.
“Ma’am.” Deacon stated as he entered your work tent, his right arm raised in a saluting motion. His own DCM hat sat on his head backwards, his signature style.
You couldn’t help but let out a small sigh, rolling your eyes at the sight in front of you. “You don’t need to do all that army shit when no one’s around, you know.”
“Yeah, it’s just- habit, I guess. You got that requisition form for me?” He asked, extending his hand out towards you.
Great. This was the part where you had to tell him there actually isn’t one. You’d always end up feeling sheepish and embarrassed, the way your body language would become shy as you had to explain that you called him here for no reason. It would no doubt ruin the ‘cool as a cucumber’ attitude you tried so hard to exude.
“There’s no requisition form, I just… wanted to see you.” Your voice became a bit quieter, it sounded even more stupid out loud than it did in your head. Feigning nonchalance, you shrugged your shoulders and gave him a little smile.
Talk about mission failed.
Instead of dwelling on your slip of slight awkwardness though, you opted to just forget about it for now and put on your usual confident facade.
“Figures.” He let out a small chuckle, it’s not the first time you’ve done this and he knew it certainly wouldn’t be the last. Not that he minded, considering he had sped over here on his bike just to see you too.
You watched as his demeanour and posture finally loosened up, his ‘work mode’ deactivated and the seriousness he typically carried dissipating within seconds. His facial features softening with that sweet smile you’ve grown to adore. An expression of his that only you got to see.
His gaze dropped from your face down to your body, giving you a once-over as he took in the way your jeans perfectly hugged your curves before forcing his eyes back up. It was slow and deliberate and your cheeks threatened to burn up. You’d love to comment on it, teasingly pointing out the way he didn’t even try to hide that he was eyeing you up. It would turn into a lighthearted back and forth, the flirtatious nature of your conversations becoming more prevalent every time you saw him. But a persistent lingering thought in your head stopped you from doing so.
You debated saying what was on your mind, not wanting to ruin the moment by bringing this conversation up again. The words dried up in your throat as you dreaded his answer, even though you already knew it.
“Deek… when are we getting out of here? I swear if I have to hear one more of Colonel Garret’s holier-than-thou, bible thumping speeches I’m going to lose my mind.” The words spilled out regardless and you bit down on your lower lip to stop any more from escaping, looking up at his face to gauge his expression.
From what you could tell, he was conflicted. He didn’t like it here either, in fact the last place he wanted to be was in a camp. Especially not a militia camp. He’s a drifter, it’s what he does and what he’s used to. He’s not meant to be tied down to a bunch of uptight assholes ordering him around. Though desperate times called for desperate measures, he supposed. His reasoning for joining the camp in the first place.
But at the same time, the risk of leaving was too high. You’d both be on the run with no safe place to stay. Well, as safe as you can get in a post apocalyptic world. That’s what worried him the most. If anything would happen to you out there it would be his fault for taking you out of a relatively safe and secure camp. He knows that you’ve been out in the shit before and most likely could handle it, but still that pinch of uncertainty held him back.
“I’m just as desperate as you are to leave, believe me, but you know what they do they’ll hang us-“
“I don’t care! I’ll hang myself if I stay here a second longer. I’m sick of all the ‘yes sir, no sir’ bullshit, the Colonel breathing down your neck just waiting for you to slip up. It’s miserable, I don’t wanna live like that anymore, Deacon. Please.” You cut his words off, your voice becoming higher in pitch as you pleaded with him. You didn’t even mean for it to come out that way, but the pent up emotions and suppression of your entire being must have gotten the better of you. You gazed up at him once more and watched as the gears shifted in his mind, ambivalence clear on his face as he weighed out the pros and cons. After a minute or so, he finally spoke.
“Uh Goddammit- alright. Just give me a few days, we’ll pack our shit up and sneak out.”
Your eyes lit up at his response and you nodded your head enthusiastically, though your expression faltered as you thought about the logistics of it. Sneaking out would be pretty much impossible, considering how many soldiers were here. There’s always someone awake, it wouldn’t matter if you did it in broad daylight or the middle of the night. The two of you wouldn’t even get past the gate. You cogitated, wracking your brain to think of a better and easier solution.
“Or we could say we’re going on a supply run but we just…”
“Don’t come back, yeah. Good thinking.” He finished your words for you, taking a few steps forward until he towered over you.
“I’m gonna get you outta here, sweetheart. I promise.” He added, his voice becoming so mellow and quiet it sent a shiver up your spine, the nickname he’d call you every now and then not doing any favours for your racing heartbeat. Despite his general rough exterior, he always had a gentleness about him whenever he was around you.
He leaned down and pressed a light and feathery kiss against your cheek, leaving them to turn a bright rosy colour in its wake, his facial hair tickling the side of your face.
His eyes fell down to your lips and you parted them a little in response, almost automatically. He hesitantly brought his hand up to your face, swiping his thumb gently across your cheek where his lips had just been, as if he was testing the waters. A small smile tugged at the corners of your mouth, your eyes locked with his as he leaned in closer ever so slightly. The magnetic force between both of your lips was palpable, as if he was the north pole and you were the south. As if the only purpose of them were to connect with one another.
You slowly leaned in too, practically aching to meet him halfway and feel his lips against yours after imagining it so many times, but the sound of someone else entering your work tent caused you to quickly pull away before you got the chance.
“Lieutenant? Colonel Garret wants to speak with you.” The sound of Lieutenant Weaver’s voice from behind Deacon almost elicited a frustrated groan from you, but you held it in and responded promptly.
“I’ll be right there. Leave us.” You ordered and moved into his line of sight to watch him exit your tent. He nodded his head and looked over at Deacon, acknowledging his presence with a simple “Corporal St. John.” before closing the door behind him.
An exasperated sigh left your mouth once you heard the door click shut, turning around with a pinch to the bridge of your nose. “Has that man ever heard of knocking? God, not a single moment of peace, there’s always something or someone in the way.” You shook your head in disbelief, annoyed with the fact that Weaver had completely wrecked the moment between you and Deacon, and you were worried that an opportunity like that may not come up again.
The air in the room now suddenly felt tense with a hint of humiliation at the thought of Weaver being mere seconds away from seeing you two together, in a way that was a lot more than just friendly. Both of you were left flustered with your hearts beating out of your chests for nothing, the anticipation and atmosphere had vanished. Though all you could think about was how close you were to him, so close you could feel his breath softly hitting your face… your lips just inches away from pressing against his.
“You can say that again.” He laughed slightly to hide his disappointment, he was annoyed too. Anytime he tried to get close to you something else would come up, whether it was Colonel Garret wanting to speak to you or some person from the militia telling you to get on with your research. He wanted to have you all to himself for once, instead of having every moment between you two being interfered.
“I-uh, I better go see what that crazy old man wants, huh?” You breathe out a laugh and stare up at him, admiring his features for a moment longer than you intended. His pretty face just has that effect on you.
“Yeah, yeah I won’t stop you.” He said with a faint smile, though he really did want to stop you. He wanted to pull you back and kiss you senseless until neither of you could breathe, push you against your work table and finally feel everything he’s been craving for since the day he met you.
As you made your way over to the door, you stopped in your tracks and turned around to look at him, you had one last thing to ask.
“Deek?”
“Yeah?” His voice came out a little strained and he cleared his throat, pushing the not so family friendly thoughts out of his head.
“What’s the plan? You know, if we get caught and they try to hang us…”
His response was simple and immediate, a shrug of his shoulders contrasting with the grievous essence of the topic, brushing it off as if it was nothing.
“We’ll hang together.”
Staring at him for a second, you burst out laughing at his answer. “Your optimism knows no bounds.” You said sarcastically, half expecting him to crack up laughing too and then explain what they’d actually do. It never came. His expression remained serious and your eyes widened slightly as you soon realised.
“Oh, you’re not joking?”
Attempting to escape from a high security militia encampment with no plan of action if they got caught definitely wasn’t the smartest of ideas. But you never know unless you try, right?

WIP INTRO - Supernova Initiative
Title: Supernova Initiative
Genre: Science Fiction/Space Opera/Adventure & Mystery/Whump
Tags: #wip supernova initiative #supernova initiative
Synopsis/What Is It About?
Jack Tithus, a young and charming intergalactic thief, along with his crew - Vesper Foxx, a feared cyborg assassin; Cassiopeia Tithus, his younger sister who is also a genius engineer; Aleks Keldora, a master in the art of temporary identity theft; and Artemis Zreeth, their edgy new recruit - are the most wanted criminals in this quadrant of the galaxy. Never once caught, the team defies their galaxy's oppressive government by using their combined talents to steal from the government as their own act of rebellion.
However, their luck takes an unexpected turn for the worst when they find themselves set up and arrested after a botched heist. Taken to the most secure facility in the whole Junction, the group expects nothing but problems in the coming future - instead, they are offered a strange deal: if they agree to work for the Junction and retrieve some highly classified files that were lost in a hostile planetary system, they will be spared from execution. With few other options, the group begrudgingly accepts to carry out this heist for the government they spent their lives trying to undermine.
Meanwhile, Jack finds himself trapped in a horrifying web of unethical experiments and illegal bioengineering when, while still having to carry out the heist along with his crew, he is secretly forced to become a test subject to the fearsome Director, head of the Junction's division of sciences, unbeknownst to his crew.
The team will need to count on the help of old allies-turned-rivals such as the cold-blooded mercenary and sniper Deimos Soll, their former crewmate, and the secret agent assigned to oversee their mission, an uptight and by-the-book young man called Noctus - if they wish to complete the most dangerous heist of their lives, and get their freedoms back.
Tropes and Nice Stuff! (Or, a.k.a. What you can expect in this book!)
Found Family/Team as Family!
Space adventure, exploration of unique, uncanny, beautiful, and outlandish alien planets, all the good science fiction stuff!
Robots, cyborgs, and sarcastically friendly AI!
A terrifyingly strict aspiring utopian regime that promises progress and freedom but is actually an unethical dystopia in disguise, with many bloodied skeletons in the closet, if you will.
Intergalactic politics, multiple alien cultures, and a bubbling interplanetary conflict about to explode between vastly different civilizations, each seeking either revenge or power.
Sibling bonds! A lot of this story centers around the siblings Jack and Cassiopeia Tithus, and the struggles they go through to keep each other safe and live another day, among some other notable siblings throughout the book.
Laboratory whump - A LOT OF IT. Also expect a crazy, unethical scientist/politician as a villain who is willing to do absolutely horrid things in the name of progress, even if it means human experimentation.
A suspicious, morally grey antihero with a reputation for being a cold-blooded killer, whom you'd expect is going to betray the group sooner or later, but is actually one of their most loyal allies and HAS A REDEMPTION ARC aaaaaa
Heists! Heists! Heists! And all the good stuff that comes along with this trope!
An edgy rogue-type character who is super impulsive and does not always make the best decisions, who only recently joined the group but would defend them with his life.
Traumatized - and hot - cyborg assassin lady on the path to have revenge on the people who destroyed her life in the past, and who is going to get said revenge in ✨style✨
A conformist secret agent who has always been "the perfect soldier" and follows rules like his life depends on it has an existential crisis and learns that his government has lied to him
A subplot that follows a young cadet from the Junction's Void Program, who discovers a dark secret about their government and starts investigating, but who needs to escape (and ends up meeting the MCs) after the government makes an attempt on his life + his war hero (adoptive) older brother who is a fighter pilot and really just needs a break and was tasked by their parents with trying to keep Pax from getting into even more trouble, but fails successfully.
Outcasts and society's "rejects" decide to make a better future together and it is great
Angst, team dynamics, and a lot of action-packed fight scenes!
And more! ✨
Meet The Main Cast! (The good guys)
Jack Tithus
A charming and rebellious intergalactic thief, Jack always sought a better life for himself and his younger sister, Cassiopeia, his only family - and he finally got his chance many years ago by joining a famous space pirate crew and leaving the dusty mining settlement moon he grew up in behind. After that, he took on a solo career - along with his sister and a few friends they had made along the way - and became the most wanted thief in the galaxy. He only steals from the government and seeks to help people who are oppressed or neglected by the system. He has a kind heart and a free spirit, and despite being a thief has a stronger moral compass than most, believing in breaking the rules to do what is truly right.
Cassiopeia Tithus
Cassiopeia - or Cassie, as she is usually called - is a brilliant robot engineer and inventor, able to build even the most complex machines from little more than scraps. She built her first robot when she was a child and has had a passion for mechanics ever since. A part of her older brother's outlaw team, Cassie uses her tech to aid in the heists and allow them to be mostly undetected. Most times. A lively young girl with a fiery personality, Cassiopeia has a lot of passion for what she does and is the glue that keeps their little team of misfits together.
Aleks Keldora
Raised by his two mothers on a struggling planet on the edge of the system, Aleks always wanted to help his family financially and give his mothers the life they deserved. However, struggling with self-esteem issues and often feeling discarded by society, Aleks knew what it meant to be invisible in the eyes of the world around him - with his family being the only ones who ever saw him for who he was. Tired of feeling left out by the world, and wanting to help his mothers - whose business was about to go bankrupt - Aleks decided to take a stand after winning a high-tech device in an underworld completion, a mask that allowed him to shapeshift into anyone he'd like. With the help of this mask and his other talents, Aleks completed his first heist in secret and was able to use the funds to help keep his family's business afloat, though they never knew the truth about how he got the money. After that, finally able to use his feeling of being invisible to his advantage, Aleks became more and more bold, eventually leaving his home planet in search of better heists to be able to continue to support his family.
Vesper Foxx
Traumatized by the day her home planet was raided by a ruthless group of mercenaries - who were hired by the neighboring galaxy's government to establish a Junction colony in Khosmonian territory - Vesper was kidnapped by the soldiers along with her oldest brother, Atheris, after their mother was killed in the raids. After witnessing him be tortured and killed, which scarred for life, Vesper was able to flee in an escape pod, being reunited with her little sister, Lysia, and their cousin, Deya, with whom she left their destroyed homeland behind. Despite settling down in another planetary system with the family she had left, the girl was never able to let go of the past, yearning for justice and revenge. Eventually, she left behind her sister and her cousin to pursue the deaths of the mercenaries who destroyed her life, using cyborg implants and upgrades to turn herself into the deadliest assassin in either galaxy.
Artemis Zreeth
The son of a renowned bounty hunter, Artemis never thought he would ever join their galaxy's criminal underworld, but after his father was betrayed by the crew he trusted the most, Artemis was left to fend for himself. Feeling betrayed by the system he trusted and lacking a purpose in life, Artemis survived by doing some gigs as a mercenary and pirate, a gun for hire in the criminal underworld. After winning a race and accidentally meeting the main cast, Artemis joins the group thinking this would just be another job to pay the bills, but as they spend more and more time together, the teenager finds that this group of outcasts might be the closest thing he's had to a family in a long while.
Pax Stellaryn
A genius young cadet, on his way to becoming the youngest cadet to ever graduate from the Junction's Void Program, Pax always wanted to make his beloved adoptive family proud, feeling oftentimes like a fish out of the water. After discovering a terrifying government intrigue by accident, Pax finds a chance to prove that he too can be a hero, and sets off to investigate more about this and seek a way to prevent the Junction's wretched plan from coming to fruition, after realizing his life too is in danger. However, he may have overestimated his ability to get out of this mess alone.
Deimos Soll
A cold-blooded and practical sniper, Deimos was Jack and Cassie's childhood best friend and their first crewmate. The trio split ways years ago due to conflicting beliefs and a few bad misunderstandings and ended up becoming rivals and competition when it comes to stealing from the Junction. Years later, however, after a harrowing encounter with a cruel and sadistic woman who sought to enslave him in order to force him to join her army, Deimos ends up fleeing to the only people he ever trusted - which unfortunately means having to confront his past and face Jack and Cassie again, who is very confused about his return to the crew - while being hunted down by the insane general he seeks to escape from.
Noctus
Though his full name is classified and unknown to the cast, his reputation precedes him. He is the single most successful special forces secret agent currently in the employ of the Junction - he has never failed a mission, never missed a target. And he always follows orders, always obeys the rules. However, is everything about him what it seems? A forgotten and suppressed part of his memory may prove that the system he fought so dearly to uphold may have actually made him into their perfect living weapon, and there may be many other lies yet to be uncovered
Ethean Mirannir
Pax's adoptive older brother, Ethean is a fighter pilot who has made a name for himself as a war hero and has always been the perfect soldier. Unexpectedly, he finds himself having to choose between his duty to the government and keeping his family safe when Pax discovers a secret that even he had no idea existed.

the origins of apollo and midnighter
for anyone out there who has wanted to know what their original backstories were before dc had changed it to apollo being a kid who was abducted by aliens and midnighter being a kid who was kidnapped by henry bendix and the gardener, both of them experimented on to receive their powers, you've come to the right place! let's get right into it. (spoilers for stormwatch vol.2 issues #4-6)
apollo and m were described as former U.S soldiers who served on a superhuman black ops team created by weatherman henry bendix called stormwatch zero, which is a subdivision of stormwatch. stormwatch for the record is a united nations created "crisis intervention unit". stormwatch zero was so secret that the rest of stormwatch didn't know it existed.

apollo served as the leader of stormwatch zero, which are very much influenced by the justice league if you take a look at the team roster. they were described before this as "normal humans" who were bioengineered/built as superhuman. odd wording at the end, right? also what happened to their teammates? why have them labeled rogue?
we are first introduced to the team all naked, told to get on their uniforms. apollo expressed confusion at not knowing where they were, which isn't answered. m doesn't get why bendix is leaving them in the dark, which bendix replied that it's a "proving mission" in which he defined the parameters.

now why would they not know where they are or wake up naked, i wonder? what does he mean by proving mission? is there a catch to their powers? yes.

uniforms given out and code names assigned, you no longer have your names nor exist (also questionable if they had a choice). most of his phrasing sounds.. weird. it's weird.
this strike team was sent off on their first mission to go to a mysterious facility in the desert to steal information and cripple illegal development committed by a 'rogue state'. in reality, bendix sent them to steal a bio-reactor extrapolated from alien (daemonite) technology that served as a benign advance in medical technology made by americans.
however, the bio-reactor defended itself by annihilating everyone but apollo and midnighter. when they tried to teleport away, they couldn't. bendix deactivated their portal devices and left them for dead for failing their mission. the worst part? it was rigged against them.

apollo and m managed to escape from the facility and learn of bendix's treachery. rather than fight, they decide (or really have no choice but) to stay quiet and anonymously went on to fight for a better world under the radar. they're in hiding for five years in various places, the last being them living on the streets of san francisco.
after this point is when the stormwatch plot kicked off where they discover weapons which use human brains in their design. these guns are connected to a utopia-like place called nevada garden. stormwatch was already looking not just into the two of them but also this garden, and caught them before they could go after the garden by trapping them on stormwatch's space tower. they learn here that bendix was killed by another member of stormwatch and after some convincing on the grounds of fighting for a better world, they help.
the garden is destroyed with their assistance, and when asked what they want, apollo and m answer with this; "when we took on our codenames and uniforms, our real names and lives were deleted. we want them back." the new weatherman named jackson king said he would instead give them comfortable and protected new lives away from stormwatch as best as he could manage.
here's a thought of mine that's bugging me: bendix was a proven lying madman who hacked the nsa and had to be killed by one of his own. he could've lied about apollo and midnighter's origins. nobody could disagree with him.
you could argue their origin for being young adult soldiers is true and just destroyed by bendix very well, or.. worse. i've seen some people suspect them to be kidnapped and experimented on as kids to then go through training as soldiers. i have another thought that a fanfiction i read brought on; modified cloned human dna from petri-dishes grown to adulthood. why?
they have no 'real' name, apollo and midnighter are their names. they were described as being bioengineered or built by bendix. they woke up confused and naked. they were given their uniforms and codenames, their old lives and names deleted. but what if they never had old lives or names?
what if they were grown to adulthood with their abilities created and underwent training? you could also say they were clone children who grew up and trained as soldiers. however, i'm more inclined to believe the first option due to the naked panel.
if you've read for jay nakamura, you'll have recognized the name henry bendix. he is who experimented on jay, who was a child. who's to say he didn't do this back in wildstorm? he could've kidnapped children or made clones.
so in the end, we'll never know the whole truth of their origins. they'll never remember because the memory wipe, there's no files about their old lives or names, and bendix would never tell whether dead or alive. they don't know how old they are, what their birthday is, nothing. they could've been born adults who never even had a chance to be a child.
thanks for listening in! i know it's a lot but once i started, i couldn't stop. this fucks with me though. could apollo and m really be clones made to be superhuman like superboy?
#dc#dc comics#wildstorm#the authority#stormwatch#apollo#midnighter#buds reading#buds talks#*scribbling this down in notes*#the one fanfic i read that suggested that apollo and m were test tube grown is the reason i started to write this#and at this point? it has some actual evidence#anyways their original backstory is superior.#my transfer idea would have them kerplooey bendix if he came back again

The 19th Day of Writemas 👩💻🌟✨💖🎇⛄
You have no idea how much these Writemas prompts mean to me @agirlandherquill 🍂💚Thank you for setting up the Writemas tag game and writing prompt festivity! 🤍Time sure has gone by fast this holiday season, but I've been productive thanks to Writemas ❤️For anyone who would like to join the tag game or get a reminder of the rules, read the invitation post.
From the Day 19 list of writing prompts I chose "The passage of time". My writing tends to have a lot of periods where time just goes by for my OC's. It's an area I work on improving. I try to cut stuff during my rewrites. I figured this prompt would help improve a scene in The Blood Cleaners. This is from Draft 3 of Chapter 1, a flashback to when Justin was 8 years old and made the 2nd most important discovery of his lifetime.
___________________________________________________________
Justin marched eastbound to the 12th tunnel with his broom in hand. The speakers of the hallways sounded the radio broadcast of President Fidel’s daily mattenea broadcast.
“People of Corpa,” Fidel’s aged voice declared. “As you finish your midday meal and go back to your assignments, know that the steady course of our city continues because of your hands. You’ve earned your place in the city. As you continue to work, take pride in doing your part to keep Corpa alive while grateful to your rulers who made it possible.”
Justin yawned. The broadcast didn’t switch to music soon enough. President Fidel repeated the same message in Spanish.
Along the way, Justin stopped by the hallway of homes in 10th tunnel - the place he, Elena, Deirdre, and Miriam called home. The hallway walls were covered in blue lockers. Justin turned the combination on his locker, unlocking number 1824. He greeted his precious relics. An album of letters and photos from his birth mother. Spare clothes. A Keychain. He nestled his broom and dustpan inside. I’ll come back for you later, he promised. Justin’s fingers tingled as he let go of the broom, as if the broom meant to say it understood. He slammed the door shut and continued two rows down to the 12th tunnel.
Justin opened the closet and pulled out the wheeled mop bucket and kit of ammonia filled cleaners. Elena’s area covered a lecture hall and three offices just across from a laboratory. The laboratory door bore signs that said “Keep Out” and “Restricted”.
A radio sat on the counter. Justin turned it on. He whistled along to the rock and heavy metal that played from surface studios and tunnel studios alike. He worked. Dusting plastic chairs. Spraying counters and table surfaces with hydrogen peroxide. Wiping the marker boards. Sweeping and mopping the tiled floor in the lecture hall. Vacuuming the carpeted floor in the offices. Taking out the trash. Justin caught glances of the books on the shelves with titles concerning chemistry, microbiology, bioengineering, heredity, toxicology, genetics, and other big words that piqued his curiosity.
When the lecture hall clock indicated it was almost suppertime, Justin gathered all of the cleansers and wheeled in the mop barrel. He read the inventory, confirming that every cleanser and tool was accounted for. He smiled as he looked at the checklist on the wall. He frowned when he saw the last item.
Peeling gum off.
Justin suspected that the chemists liked to put their gum under the tables just to spite the street cleaners. He picked up the scraper from the shelf.
Beginning in the lecture hall, Justin lay on his back as he went from table to table, scraping the undersides.Only the rock music on the radio kept him going as he peeled off each piece and tossed them into a plastic bag.
In the first office, there was one chewed up gum wad. Then there was the second office. Three wads. Justin scraped harder thrust harder into the bag. In the third office, Justin lay on his bag under the table, begging that he would be lucky to see no wads.
Scrawled, scratchy, and seemingly drawn with a red marker, the underside of the table surface carried a squiggly message. Justin peered closely at the text under the dark surface. He took and turned on the mini flashlight from his toolbelt.
To find John, look at the map in cabinet 1214 in room 70 on the third floor of the 5th west tower. Find him or all hope for us is lost. Don’t let anyone see this.
Justin widened his eyes. He was used to seeing strange messages written on bathroom walls or by lockers, usually pointless love messages or secret contraband exchanges. The Fifth West Tower was the last place for an illegal negotiation. The West Tower was part of the Steel. The castle was the home of the Fists and President Fidel. Far as Justin knew, no one in the tunnels had clearance to go into the Steel except for the Fists who were occasionally seen in the areas they managed. Did the writer mean for a Fist to read it? Did the Fists normally send messages like this? Why would the writer say to not tell anyone? Then again, blood cleaners had access everywhere. Was the message meant for a blood cleaner?
He read each word over and over again. John. Map. Cabinet 1214. Third Floor. Room 70. 5th Tower. West. All hope is lost.. Who was John? Why did the writer say that all hope would be lost if John wasn’t found? Who were “us”? All of Corpa? Justin shivered as chills rippled up his spine. He bore the responsibility of this message, no matter what it meant.
Justin thought about telling Elena, but the words to not tell anyone whispered in his ears. He got up, returned the flashlight to his belt, and looked around for a paper and pen. He opened desk drawers. No paper. He ran into the second office next door. The drawers were locked. He looked inside the first office. The drawers and cabinets were locked there, too. Justin looked in the lecture hall next. He didn’t see any readily available pens or pencils except for a large black marker. He took it and rushed back into the third office. Justin lay under the table, upholding the flashlight with one hand while the other held the marker. He hastily used the black marker to capture the message on his arm.
To find John, look at the map in cabinet 1214 in Room 70 on the third floor of the 5th west tower. Find him or all hope for us is lost.

oh hoshi how much i love you im so happy we think alike and are intertwined. i've also been thinking about choso and geto a lot but like together and oh my god its ruining every part of me. like i'm thinking maybe like a rockstar au but also rockstar au's always happen but then i was thinking like college student type shit like idk but i kinda just need them inside of me :P
- megan anon

OMFGGGGGG MEGAN I MISSED THESE CONVOS OF OURSSSSS !!! 🗣🗣🗣 okay okay hmmmm rockstar aus are so fun, but I get it; they happen a lot; HOWEVER, I have been thinking about Rockstar! Choso like months ago, like you being his number one fan and you win a chance to have a one on one session with him, and you surprise him with how much you know about him that he begins to be infatuated with you – someone who's the star fan of the least popular member of the rock band...fuuuuuck that would be such a cute story, actually (and you know the boy has dick piercings, let's be real!!). He would sneak you in during the band practices, pull you in somewhere quiet and have you suck on his dick bc he got hard from glancing at you watching him practiceFUUUUUUCKKK 😫😫😫😫
Now college student aus have been frequent in my mind as of recent, esp with geto!! I can't help but think of him as a bioengineering major, in sports like lacrosse or hockey. He's such a heartthrob, easily pulling your heart the first moment you guys are assigned on a project together. And he gets feelings for you HARD but in secret, like sneaking himself to be close to you while he explains something on the textbook or patting your head or back when you get something right!!! Oh shiiiiit imagine him having you stay in his dorm for the weekend when all his roomies are away, and he uses this opportunity to FINALLY have you under him!?!? placing soft kisses in the crook of your neck while he praises you for taking in his girth like good girl MAAAAAAANNNN LETME STOP!!
#fuuuuuuucking hell bro#and it doesn't help that I've been thinking of doing a college au story with geto and gojo crushing on reader#bye what is with gojo corrupting my brain??? i blame these reqs I've been writing lol#𝑵𝒐𝒐𝒏𝒊𝒆 ʚ✮ɞ megan#𝑯𝒐𝒔𝒉𝒊 ⚛ 𝑨𝒕𝒐𝒎𝒊𝒄 𝑨𝒔𝒌𝒔

. . . ⌗ the aftermath ! 🔬 | scara x fem!reader smau
— 04 : i’ll bring the snacks 🍬

You set your phone on the table, averting your attention to the professor in front. You took a glimpse of your notes then return your gaze back to Professor Dottore to add on any missing details.
It had only been the first class of this year yet this dearest professor has already assigned yet another big project. Goodbye good sleep and hello coffee.
“Alright class I will be assigning you to group of two. There will be no complaints or anything in such matter regarding your partner without a valid excuse. You are all adults, you can tolerate each other or you can fail. Either of it, I don’t care.”
Your only wish was to not be paired up with those skip-classers. Doubling work or handling a group work on your own was currently not in your to-do list.
You hear a list of names being called, waiting for yours to come. “…, Ceester Rosaria and Fushiguro Megumi, Abyssoque Kathryne and [ L/n ] [ Name ], Alkemee Timeus and Scaramouche Kunikuzushi, …”
After what felt like hours it was finally over. You didn’t feel upset getting Kathryne as your partner, she has always been fairly efficient and you both has worked on other projects from last year. Now it was time for Dottore to explain the contents and rubric of this said project.
“For this semester, I would like you and your partner to create a device to help improve our healthcare programs. To prevent, monitor, and even solve healthcare problems around us. An example of this project is one that your senior made last year in my class. They made a Mountain Climber Health & GPS Tracker to prevent those who plan on climbing Mountains from getting lost and to let others aware of their condition in the Mountains. If you are interested to take a look, it is placed in the Bioengineering lab as well as the results from past years. Those project were the best one in my classes among the years. If you manage to achieve the highest grade, yours will be added to this collection as well. Make use of your creativity, make something useful, original, and efficient. Think like a scientist. I have high expectations for this class so impress me.”
And with that, the class was finally over.

. . . ⌗ the aftermath ! 🔬 masterlist - prev | next
synopsis — the aftermath ! After a drunken night that resulted in some late night endeavors, you woke up in an unfamiliar environment. Looking around you in search for any familiarity, you spot a familiar tuff of violet hair beside you, hidden beneath the heavy duvet. Realization blew you over as you finally connected the scattered dots. Did you really just sleep with Scaramouche, your no.1 nemesis and rival? Well I guess all we can do wish you luck to deal with the aftermath.

↬︎ anime: jujutsu kaisen
↬︎ featuring: nanami kento, suguru geto, fushiguro toji, choso kamo, & satoru gojo
↬︎ warning(s): swearing, college!au, all characters are 18+, mentions of blood
PLOT. in new girl style, you become roommates with five men from your university.
ADVISORY. reader is black and female, unless stated otherwise.
college series
➟︎ meeting the boys was simultaneously the best, and worst, thing that could ever happen to you.
➟︎ on some new girl shit, you ended up rooming with them bc rent was cheap and it was close to campus.
➟︎ nanami, choso, toji, geto, & gojo all lived in this huge penthouse a few blocks down from university (shoutout to them niggas having money). it was two penthouses put into one and it was home to some of the biggest hoes you had ever met.
➟︎ it’s complete chaos.
➟︎ you share a bathroom with toji, whose nonexistent most of the time bc he’s out doin illegal shit (underground fighting) or fuckin random girls.
➟︎ none of them are completely messy, but there has been several times where you have tripped over shoes and slipped on socks because of them.
➟︎ it’s very rare that all of you are in the house at the same time other than to sleep.
➟︎ choso takes you to campus with him since he goes the same time you go. nanami is the one that’ll take you home. or geto. but they will not allow you to ride public transportation.
➟︎ partially because they’re bougie and also because they know how unsafe it is alone on campus.
➟︎ toji owns a small tattoo and piercing shop that choso and geto work at when they aren’t doing internships.
➟︎ besides geto and nanami, nobody cooks. everyone uses the ninja blender though and the air fryer.
➟︎ sometimes, on wash days, you guys will combine shirts and pants to save time but wash everything else separately. everyone but gojo is allowed to wash bc he will fuck up y’all’s clothes.
➟︎ there is a weekend out of every month where you guys just do whatever you want to do. either together or alone.
➟︎ it usually ends up with geto cooking sunday breakfast and all of you watching some movie. maybe even going to a frat party or watching toji fight.
➟︎ they’ve come to like you more than they thought they would. honestly didn’t plan on interacting with you but you grew on them. now they’re your unofficial, official, sugar daddies without the sugar. (although…😉)
➟︎ pls don’t ever buy anything with your own money and let them catch you. they will reimburse you plus interest, for no reason.
➟︎ honestly, you have yet to figure out why they even spoil you the way they do.
➟︎ nanami is a business major with toji. choso is an art major with a focus in architecture and history. gojo is pre-law and geto is a bioengineering major for healthcare services.
➟︎ toji scared the shit out of you at first, all broody and shit. but y’all really bonded after he came back late from a particularly brutal fight and you were up finishing an assignment when you saw him. he looked like he could barely stand and after that, y’all just grew closer.
➟︎ you and gojo have a strong love-hate relationship because how can someone so smart be so dumb?? has gotten you caught up several times.
➟︎ nanami helps you study and it’s so nice because you don’t even ask most of the time, but he’ll hit you up and ask if you have anything you need help with.
➟︎ geto practices his sketches on you all the time to see how it will look.
➟︎ choso and you will use his architecture skills to draw up your dream home 😭. he’s went through ten sketches already.
➟︎ you hang out at the tattoo shop anytime you’re free. sometimes you’ll go there after classes and just do homework until someone comes to the front desk needing help.
➟︎ you cannot play any games with any of these niggas because they ALL CHEAT!
➟︎ choso almost got to scrapping with gojo over a game of chutes and ladders.
➟︎ i feel like nanami likes reading and if you like reading, you guys have your own little book club.
➟︎ gojo takes you on shopping sprees. but it’s literally because he likes going out and drags you with him cause no one else will go.
➟︎ fairytale shit aside…living with these niggas is like fighting demons.
➟︎ nanami got a headache every damn hour bc of gojo so then he snappy like denzel in fuckin training day.
➟︎ toji moody af and releases that anger by having relations almost every night with a new bitch. you can never get sleep and almost always end up sleeping in choso’s room.
➟︎ geto has such a slick mouth, he be causing riots at five am cause he called choso’s mama a hoe. choso don’t play about his mama.
➟︎ gojo will have girls over for the night but never kick them out. so then y’all wakin up to some rando, wearing geto’s shirt that gojo stole and eating nanami’s meal prepped breakfast.
➟︎ you silently escort her out before she witnesses a murder.
➟︎ and ALL five of them purposefully bother you at all hours of the day.
➟︎ talkin to a man? oh, not on geto’s watch. now your ‘boyfriend’ shows up to take you home while threatening the guy you were talking to.
➟︎ you in the shower with the door unlocked again? toji’s coming in to take a shit and gojo’s going to turn the lights off and throw some rubber animal in the shower with you.
➟︎ they both, rightfully so, get they ass beat by you and nanami.
➟︎ thinking about going grocery shopping for the apartment? you better pray to god you leave before them otherwise they will try to tag along and end up adding more shit than necessary, into the cart. y’all once had an $800 grocery bill.
➟︎ gojo stay wearing yo wigs. you don’t complain much bc he’s the one that buys them, and he buys the good kind, but if you see him saying ‘stiff where?’ in the mirror ONE MORE TIME!
➟︎ living with them is a nightmare dressed like a daydream literally.

The Star-Spangled Man (Male!Biotic!Reader x Steve Rogers)
Requested by @usngay21 for Steve Rogers x Male Biotic Reader? Love your writing!!!
I suppose it isn't impossible to assume Captain America could be stuck in the ice for 230 years and come out in the Mass Effect times.
But boy, is it a huge culture shock.
Since the acknowledgement of humanity as an advanced galactic race with their own embassy on the Citadel, there has been a movement to stimulate trade and exchange of ideas.
And even though Earth has moved on from the idea of states and divisions and become just one planet in a Systems Alliance, it's still a major archaeological find assisted by the help of salarian and asari geological survey methods that allowed Captain Rogers' body to be retrieved.
Dr. Erskine's Super Soldier Serum was a feat of bioengineering on par with the manufacture of the genophage, and thus, Captain Rogers is still a marvel of science and humanity - in fact, Erskine's work is the basis upon which biotics were developed, so one could say Steve was, in fact, the first biotic.
It's definitely hard for Steve to accept that in 230 years, humanity has taken to the stars and made contact with other, way more advanced species, but the needs of one man pale in comparison to the political needs of humanity across the galaxy, and thus after a year or so of physical and mental therapy, Steve is appointed an honorary representative of the Systems Alliance and provided a modified Captain America suit by President Huerta himself.
It isn't long before Steve proves, that even out of his depth as he is, he is still the same person, and when he meets with the Council, he even impresses the Turian Councilor with his respect and interest in the customs of other species.
Of course, there are particular problems from the Terra Firma party who freak out that Steve publicly supports humans having to earn their place and work with other species to earn a place in galactic policy.
It's not long before you're placed to work with Steve. The Alliance has been eager to promote their success with the new fresh-off-the-line L4 biotic implants, and what better way than to form an honor squadron led by the first augmented human? You, about five other L4s, and Steve make up the Brooklyn Squad, named after Captain Rogers' hometown, an outdated name for one of the boroughs that used to make up Unity City.
The Brooklyn Squad serves as a part honor-guard, part ambassadorial endeavor. You often serve as security for delegates sent for talks with other species' governments, and Steve's presence is so well-received that it's not long before he's appointed to the staff at the Alliance embassy on the Citadel - it's a ceremonial position anyway due to most wanting to keep him in the line of sight for relations with other species, but not wanting him to end up in government or among policy makers.
Steve has been basically shoved around for a few years and not particularly happy of the lack of control he's had over his life. Probably would resign if not for his sense of duty and getting to be around you - he's become close with you and the other members of Brooklyn Squad, sort of a second chance at the Howling Commandos. Once he's removed from active duty for ambassadorship, he's pretty quick to ask you out now that it's no longer necessarily fraternization and pulls some strings to get you assigned to the embassy when you express interest in spending more time with him.
Steve is fascinated by the new world, although it's very much of a shock for him, as pretty much nothing is the same.
He likes it when you mess with him with your biotics - rubbing his back, smacking his ass, ruffling his hair - and when you're alone, pinning him down and manhandling him with your powers.
Steve is gentle and kind as ever, and sweet, but with the world so changed, he's also more outspoken, and resolves to do and advocate for what is right.
I can figure it's at this moment that Steve can sort of see himself starting to accept this new life... and of course, that's the moment that kicks off the Reaper War...

A ramble about how the different internal world logic of different Spider-Man universes affects characterization/how much I enjoy the story (featuring ITSV, Raimi, TASM, and NWH)
superhero vs villain stuff is the most basic morality play. There are Good guys and Bad guys and when the Bad guy hits the Good guy, it's bad; but when the Good guy hits the Bad guy it's good. You just have to assign roles and start a fight, and every story is going to draw that line differently.
this doesn't HAVE to be realistic at all and I'd argue it's most fun when it's not trying to be. You don't have to tackle systemic issues in a story about a guy who can scale buldings unless you're certain you have something to say. They can be figurative challenges, I can understand metaphor.
Spider-Verse understood this SO well it makes it visual. Every character exists inside rules that are very real to them even if they're nonsense to someone else there. The physical rules of Spider-Ham's world are non literal (he can fit a hammer in his pocket) as are the moral rules (he can eat a hotdog as a joke). On the other end of the spectrum, Peter B. has back problems, financial issues, just went through a messy divorce... Real Person Problems. The ads in his dimension are also for real life products, while Miles' are all made up. Miles' Peter was "perfect", so we accept that in his dimension there are archetypical heroes—and archetypical villains. They can have simplistic motivations and speak in clichés; don't worry about it. But Miles' Peter died in a very real tragedy, so we know the world rules still take consequences seriously even if the conflict is stylized. The metaphor is made clear with "anyone can wear the mask": anyone, from any world, can draw inspiration from the archetypical hero.
I always have to put in a disclaimer when I'm rambling so I don't sound insufferable: I do get why people's enjoyment hinges on characters. I don't think caring about World Rules is the only like, moral way to enjoy fiction I'm just weird and love dissecting systems. That said, this perspective really wrecks the TASM movies compared to the Raimi movies for me.
Both these movies are (1) live action and (2) create a superhero into a world that doesn't have that archetype yet. So the world has to explain its reasoning for what makes a hero vs a villain before the punching starts. Not just "a villain is a villain because I caught them doing something bad" but "why did they decide to do something bad to start with?"
I really like the Raimi movies' premise, always drawing parallels between the hero and villain as outcasts who gain a large amount of power over others right after a major personal tragedy. This kinda ruins the "sanctity" of the characters but builds a really strong theme. The difference is: when they get a chance to make a choice, do they listen to the voice that wants to make the selfish one, or do they make the kind one? OBVIOUSLY if this was a literal political stance there's a lot wrong with "criminals are criminals bc they choose to be" but the world rules are very intentionally cheesy. The actual criminal justice system is barely a presence because this is a metaphor for you and your ability to help people despite your worst instincts.
The TASM movies on the other hand seem to want to be more serious in science, effects, personality, and dialogue. But then the through-line separating heroes and villains is bioengineered genetics. Booo. That's already weird, but the more seriously I'm told to take it the more I hate it.
Electro is my favorite TASM villain partially because he has more complex motivations. I love TASM Max Dillon but the world rules don't seem to! Garfield would be the superior Peter Parker in a universe that wasn't so dedicated to proving him wrong. Yes, he mouths off to a police officer in his own home. And then the movie has that officer nobly save his life at the climax. Sure, he's just an average guy doing his best. But then the movie explains that this is literally his genetic heritage. Yeah, he tries to talk Electro down. But when the police ruin the moment, it's like it's only for "realism" rather than commentary, and the tragedy of that failure is immediately forgotten. Max and Harry become villains in large part due to abuse by the powers that be, but Peter stops them once they fight back while Oscorp goes unpunished. Systemic injustice is written in as something that creates villains, but the hero is never allowed to meaningfully challenge that injustice, just deal with the mess it creates.
Plus, because Peter is written to be smart, he has to uncritically agree with the genes nonsense. He's probably right that his Parker blood would kill Harry if it got into his cursed Osborn bloodstream. That's just the way the world rules work, forcing him to play by their moral code and make the cruel choice even as a kind character. Hell world. Hell world.
I don't have much to say about the MCU's world rules; I figure they were built for characters who aren't Peter Parker and it shows. NWH is interesting though to compare to ITSV. ITSV didn't have to make its universes play by different rules, but they did. NWH was actually pulling characters from universes with established rules, but that only really comes up in jokes for Spideybros stuff, really.
All the villains are treated in Exactly the Same Way though which raises some major questions. It doesn't mess up the TASM villains too bad to offer them cures since plenty of their problems were medical or systemic, even if it feels totally evil to leave out Harry when his entire arc was around needing a cure he never got. But since the Raimi villains come from a 'verse where their villainy is tied to their choices they're being cured of... the ability to make a choice. Which feels. How do you say. Wack. I honestly don't understand what the MCU thinks the difference is between its heroes and villains. Brand recognition, maybe.
I think the strongest case for TASM's world rules being cruel is that Electro is finally given more respect as a human being when he's handled with the MCU's world rules, while the Raimi villains are given less. Sure Curt is given less respect but I'm going to be honest: I don't think he deserved the respect the TASM movies gave him. He was a eugenicist before the lizard thing and it's anyone's guess if he ever learned a lesson beyond "don't test lizard serums on yourself". Which isn't a terribly generalizable life lesson outside their universe.
There's no real moral to this one, I just have to talk to myself out loud sometimes to avoid going mad. I think world rules are under-discussed in fandom, maybe because imagining characters into different worlds is an ancient fandom pastime. People will get mad at you for being OOC but not OOU (out of universe). Funny, because I don't think you can really separate those things.

𝘩𝘰𝘯𝘬𝘢𝘪 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘵: 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘨𝘯𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘮𝘦𝘭𝘰𝘥𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘪𝘤𝘦.
Name: Sokolova Zarina Olegovna. Origin: ▊▊▊▊ Age: 50,000+ years (1/3 of the time spent in the state of cryosleep). Affiliation: Fire MOTH / Myrmidons of Taskforce Honkai (previously in PE), World Serpent (currently). Occupation: Acting representative and mediator of MOTH (former), Leading Strategist of MOTH (former), physical trainer of new recruits (former). Race: Human (former), Rogue Herrscher (PE, former), ex-Herrscher* (CE).
* Zarina can return her powers as a Herrscher if she will absorb the core of the current eras Herrscher of Ice (Ana Schariac). Dr. MEI and Dr. Mobius mentioned the possibility of returned power after extracting her core.
The power of humanity rests in those who see the potential it can bring, the ability to survive and adapt.
In the beginning of its operations, MOTH needed a person who would stand between them and the rest of the world. A capable individual who would not have fear of authority and who would be able to manage any and all requests to know the detailed work from the faculty. Surprisingly, a young genius from the northern region would step up. Despite her background in underworld and all its tricky operations, she was accepted to become the youngest representative but far more capable than anyone who they had seen. MOTHs attractive geniuses and prodigies from all across the world to fight Honkai, it was natural another prodigy would wish to step up... in exchange for her younger brother’s treatment and protection.
Known as the ‘Gatekeeper’ of Flamechasers, Zarina Sokolova was known as the person who stood between government officials, military, and other parties who tried to influence the work of Dr. MEI, Dr. Mobius, and Vil-V in the early days of MOTH and one of the earliest ‘casualties’ that befell those who were surrounding the warriors fighting for the world. She was 'affectionately’ called “Cerberus” by Dr. Mobius for how she ‘protected’ the secrets and the ‘moral visage’ of the taskforce. A woman who was known to be able to turn the officials and politicians away with a couple of words and overwhelming charismatic aura. Many early days recruits also knew her as their instructor despite her young age, but her skills in battle, strategy, and adaptation proved to be enough to teach even middle to old aged folk on how to protect themselves against Honkai Beasts.
But what is the deeper story of Zarina Sokolova aside from how she worked in MOTH and how was she able to reach there? The files do not specify a lot of background information about Zarina ever since she appeared in MOTHs for the reason that it was unneeded during those days of desperation, the background check simply stated that she came from an influential family of underworld lords from northern countries who offered their support to MOTHs and assigned countless recruits to help with fighting against Honkai.
One of the files stated that Zarina knew Dr. Mobius even before joining MOTHs, writing it down as how they’ve known each other from Dr. Mobius’ work in bioengineering and Sokolova still young but curious to learn more about the experiments the scientist was doing. With that in mind, it continued to be a connections where two women would continue to be rather relaxed and at ease with each other, Sokolova never cutting away Mobius’ experimentation and never abiding by ‘moral’ code that someone like Su would uphold, which made Mobius’ work more relaxed and allowed; the same with Dr. MEI and Vil-V who all received documentation from Zarina in how and where they could work without being interrupted.
Unlike many of those who were considered for an on-ground operation, Zarina was held back as a strategist to oversee all fights up until her ‘retirement.’ This led to her remaining mostly off-battlefield and always in control of strategic planning and distribution of information across board, making sure there was proper evacuation of civilians and keeping the chaos under control. Up until 5th Herrscher, it all worked well; however, the strength of a thousand people within the young woman’s mind was broken by the loss of her family. The tragedy of the frigid lament would happen when Zarina traveled to look how her brothers were faring since she was notified that her younger twin brother Victor was visiting their youngest brother Aleksey. What transpired remains unknown aside from the fact that Herrscher of Ice was awakened, freezing several regions but nothing farther away as if it was... trying to contain the powers in the smallest region possible.
Upon the arrival of the MOTH, it was found out that a solitary figure was sitting in the middle of the frigid canyon, crying and holding onto the frozen zombies. The closer they got, their worst realizations would settle down. The one who was turned into a Herrcher was none other than Zarina herself but unlike any other Herrscher, she was in clear mind and didn’t allow any of the zombies to get out of the canyon, rendering them frozen in place. The fact that she was sound and not attacking and even speaking to them made others suspicious, but the call from Dr. Mobius and Dr. MEI inquired for her to brought back to the facility. After that, the newly awakened Herrscher of Ice disappeared in the Dr. Mobius’ lab after hearing the words: “Use my body to destroy all of them, this is the only thing I can offer now.” The identity of the Herrscher of Ice remained a secret aside from several agents (and then 13 Flamechasers), it was simply stated that the Herrscher was killed instead of being kept alive as a lab rat for Dr. Mobius and Dr. MEI.
Inside the laboratory, Zarina, no, Herrscher of Ice has been subjected to countless experiments of unimaginable cruelty. It was all for the sake of humanitty and studying Herrscher bodies, of course. After all, Dr. Mobius was far more interested in saving humanity through assimilation: a living Herrscher was perfect to study such approach. Even if the two knew each other before, it did not matter as everything for the safety of humanity was needed. The questions of how Sokolova was able to persist as her human self, what could harm her, what would happen if Mobius would apply certain things to her, and there were far more. The leading bioengineer was not seen for days, screams of pain would be heard for days as well. What is known is that the extraction of the Herrscher core did not kill the woman who once was one of the main supporters of MOTHs. Instead, up until appearance of Aponia, she was kept in a deeply closed room by Dr. Mobius and Dr. MEI to continue the experimentation without others learning of it. Upon appearance of the strongest Psychic MANTIS - Aponia, she was able to get out of the caged territory and continue assisting MOTHs, alas, in a very secluded area where only the selected few were able to enter (the future 13 Flamechasers, Dr. MEI, Dr. EISTEIN, and several more people). Like that, Zarina spent the rest of the Previous Era: remaining the strategist, remaining the sparring partner, and remaining a teacher when it comes to the previously mentioned aspects, including manipulation of people’s perceptions.
How did she survive up until current era? It was... a strange instance. The fact that Dr. Mobius and ER!Mobius have become quite different people because of the ‘seed’ that ER!Mobius planted in her living self, the coming of the Herrscher of the End led to Dr. Mobius to open the cage of Zarina, letting her out and dragging her to the device that would become the device that’ll help her survive the apocalypse. Eden’s song remained heard as the woman was given a choice to live on and destroy Honkai in the next era or die just like Eden and Dr. Mobius would. The ex-Herrscher chose to live, falling into a deep slumber that has only been awakened when it was allowed. Grey Serpent opened the lid and awakened the ex-Herrscher from the Previous Realm, telling her of the new plan and who she can find where. She heard the names of those who remained alive: Kevin, Su, Fu Hua. The three known locations were given to her and she started to search.
In the end, where we are now, Zarina is one of the longest agents of World Serpent created by Grey Serpent. Jackal and Raven know her as their senior, a fighter borderlining on the beast level, who always disappears before questions can be asked. Only Jackal learned of Zarina’s true nature from the Previous Realm after receiving the information to study the Herrscher cores. After that? Well, who knows? The new heroes are here and she will watch if they will be able to fight Honkai with technology far behind theirs.
Was everyone’s sacrifice worth it? The project STIGMA was still undergoing. How can she truly disagree with Kevin when it seem to be the only possible ending to this fight?
𝙄𝙈𝙋𝙊𝙍𝙏𝘼𝙉𝙏 𝙏𝙍𝙄𝙑𝙄𝘼:
o1. After the death of Ana Schariac / Herrscher of Ice, her core was returned to the World Serpent. Without Mei’s knowledge, Jackal and Grey Serpent proposed to bring Zarina back from her mission to return it to her to use her as another weapon in extraction of Honkai as she’s clearly shown that she is able to control herself and go fully rogue like Raiden Mei.
o2. Zarina has been influenced by Aponia’s ‘Discipline’ and she cannot break it even after Aponia’s death. The ‘Discipline’ states: You are not to side with Honkai in extermination of humanity. It has been reinforced over and over again through several visits and Mobius’ experiments, which rendered her to be uncapable of ever going against humanity with the intention of extermination. Similarly to Kalpas’ Discipline, the Discipline does not stop Zarina from killing humans if they get in her way as long as it is not led by the notion of full extermination of the race.
o3. I will not be writing 100% if Zarina knew of Elysia’s true identity without plotting with an Elysia rper. No matter what, Zarina will never disclose it to anyone if it is plotted out and she will never see Elysia as anything or anyone different. As someone who rps Elysia as well, I am inclined to write Zarina knowing it after speaking with Elysia before she would disclose her true nature to the rest of the Flamechasers. However, it is not going to be mentioned without my partner’s comfort!
o4. Zarina visits ER far more than she’d like to admit because of how she is unable to rest and finds solace in speaking to those who are already long gone. She has never fought there and never took part in any challenges; thus, Mei remains the ‘first Herrscher’ to ever take part in Elysian Realm. Not only that, during her visits, Zarina is also NOT considered a Herrscher as she lacks the core she had in Previous Era, which continues to correlate with the canon story.
o5. Zarina could meet any of the Current Era cast members during her travels. As an ex-Herrscher, she will not be engaging in any combat until it’s to protect herself and her life. Aside from that, she is mostly gathering information and observing the current flow of the world. Upon the defeat of HoI, she is called back to the HQ by Jackal to get notified of the Herrscher core acquired. Before accepting the core back to return her Herrscher powers, she would travel down to Elysian Realm, where she can meet Mei personally in World Serpent.
o6. Zarina fully expects Kevin to end her life when the humanity won against the Honkai and she stated she won’t run away.

Retribution: The Long Night
Previous Chapter | Masterlist | Next Chapter
Pairing: Christopher Pike x OC
Rating: Mature
Warning: This story contains references to a bioengineered virus. It is not contagious and can only infect one person.
Word Count: 4.5k
Summary: Years ago, Lieutenant Christopher Pike and his team’s classified mission failed changing the course of two peoples – the Estess whose planet was strategically important to the Federation and the deeply spiritual Gileseians whose out of the way home was location and resource poor. The price for his involvment will be steep and the debt is about to be called in.
This story takes place after the Season 2 finale. Control was defeated and all the events of Season 2 occurred except for Discovery travelling into the future.
ooooo
Near Midnight
Dr. Tracy Pollard could hear Captain Pike, who was sitting in Dr Boyce’s office, talking to Starfleet Command. Talking was a generous description of his tone – but everyone’s tempers were frayed today.
“No, I will not lift the press embargo. We are still interviewing the passengers. Any press coverage could influence their statements,” Pike reiterated in a loud clipped tone.
“You cannot silence the press. I’m getting complaints. And we need to plan a public relations strategy,” the admiral in charge of public affairs pointed out.
“I can limit press coverage on any ship, in any situation. It is my call. We need to understand what we are dealing with before talking about it. I have 1500 passengers to interview, a brig full of hijackers to interrogate, a crime scene to investigate and several crewmembers, from the transport as well as Enterprise, who are seriously injured. A PR strategy is low on my list of priorities,” Pike summarized and ended the transmission, beyond done with the conversation.
Phil Boyce closed the door separating his office from Sickbay. Tracy saw the doctor rest his hand on the Captain’s shoulder in, she assumed, support and comfort.
It felt unreal to her dealing with the aftermath of a hijacking only a week into her new assignment on Enterprise. Tilly and Detmer had pumped a powerful anesthetic through the transport ship to neutralize the hijackers. Enterprise arrived shortly afterwards, called to the scene via a clever distress call from the two Discovery officers. Then … well, then things got worse.
There were two patients left in sickbay. The security guard injured when the bombs planted in the hostage’s restraints detonated. And the patient she was monitoring. There should be three, but Commander Bengsston had not yet allowed the glass and metal to be removed from his hand, nor would he while the prisoners were being interrogated.
She glanced back at her patient when the monitors beeped. There it was again. That reading didn’t make sense. Neither did the slowly building fever. She wanted to confer with Dr. Boyce but was hesitant to intrude on Captain Pike’s first private moment since this hellish day began. Maybe she could get the CMO’s attention in another way.
“I was annoyed Aalin chose to stay behind on Earth when I had to return to Enterprise early after we had been apart for all those months. If I had been paying attention instead of indulging my petulance, I might have caught a red flag,” Chris said wearily.
“This isn’t your fault. You could not have possibly known,” Phil tried reason but knew Chris wasn’t receptive. Pike shook his head slightly and exhaled, his non-verbal, ‘I am right, and you know it’. Phil decided to try a different approach. “How is the crew dealing with this?”
“Efficiently and effectively. But they are nervous. No Starfleet member, nor their family, has ever been attacked nor taken hostage in a civilian setting. They can’t help but be concerned that has changed. I need to do a walkthrough tomorrow.”
Yes, because right now you need one more thing to do, Phil thought, but that is tomorrow’s problem. He noticed Tracy in front of the office window motioning to him. “I’ll be right back,” Phil said and closed the door after exiting. She gestured for him to join her in front of the monitors.
“Any change?” Phil asked.
Tracy shook her head. “Lieutenant Pike,” she began.
“Matthews,” Phil interjected, “she uses her maiden name on board to minimize confusion.”
“She is stable and starting to regain consciousness. The specialist from the hospital ship will be back tomorrow for a post-op check. But these readings are odd. She’s running a low-grade fever.”
“That could be from the particle weapon injury on her shoulder. Infections with those types of blasts are common,” Phil replied.
“True. But the scanners haven’t detected any infection, though it could be too soon for that. Also, her adrenaline and cortisol levels are spiking continually. It’s over. She is no longer in shock. Those hormones should have stabilized.”
Phil considered for a few moments. “I don’t like that, but I am not sure we can assume its abnormal. Patients have been known to dream at the level of unconsciousness we induce for surgeries. She may be reliving the past few hours.”
“But…” Tracy stopped and considered her patient. Isak surmised the hijackers killed Ambassador Shran in front of her using a particle weapon on its highest setting. That setting implodes a body, splattering the wall behind its victim. Or as in this case, the hostage behind the victim.
The ordeal continued for hours after Enterprise arrived on the scene. Aalin’s wrists were mutilated and her ankles lacerated from restraints that were purposefully too tight. Those restraints were booby trapped forcing her to remain within six inches of her taunting captor and finally had to be swiftly cut off when the bombs armed; the explosion began before the transporter could dematerialize them. Her arms and legs were burned from the phaser used as a cutting torch and peppered with glass and debris from the blast. Every detail was orchestrated to maximize her fear, Tracy thought, yes, it is reasonable the fight or flight response is still firing. “You’re right, I am being too cautious.”
Phil touched her arm and smiled. “You are right to be meticulous and careful. Let me know if anything changes. And make sure there’s someone with her at all times.” He returned to his office to wait with Chris.
ooooo
The overhead light was configured to slowly brighten mirroring a patient’s return to consciousness. A glitch caused it to move to its harshest setting immediately. It was disorienting and there was an unfamiliar person standing just outside the doorway. Not sure where she was or who was close by, Aalin panicked and sat up too quickly. She tried to reach for the table beside the bed and knocked over a beaker. Thinking the broken glass might be an effective weapon she reached for a shard, slicing her hand in the process, and one sharp end embedded deep in her palm. With all the adrenaline rushing through she body, Aalin didn’t feel any pain from the wound.
Why aren’t my fingers working right, she thought. Doesn’t matter, I have to get away from here. But when she stood, she stumbled and fell back against the bed. The noise alerted Tracy and the rest in Sickbay.
The people moving toward her heighted the fear. Oh God. They found me. Shrinking back against the bed and unsteadily holding out the broken glass as blood dripped from the cut, she prayed it would be enough to keep them away.
Pike motioned for the others to fall back. “Listen to my voice, you know me,” he said gently. She looked up at him, squinting, as if trying to figure it out. As he moved closer, she raised the piece of glass higher, deepening the cut.
He stopped. Held out his hands. “You’re safe. You’re on Enterprise.” He took a step closer.
She shook her head and begged in a whimper, “No, please, don’t.” She tightened her grip on the glass, further slicing her hand. “Don’t come closer.”
Pike stopped and lowered his hands. “OK, we’ll just talk. Can we do that?”
She nodded.
“I would never hurt you sweetheart.”
One thought kept running through her head, something someone taught her years ago, … have to defend yourself until help can reach you. Her words can out haltingly. “Are … you … help?”
“Yes. You can trust me. I am the help you’ve been waiting for, that you have been holding on for, as you were trained to do. I will take care of you.” He answered in a soothing tone and then took one step.
She flinched but didn’t draw back. He took one more step; this time there was no reaction to it. He took another step.
“Your hand is bleeding, it needs to be treated,” Pike said in an even tone.
Aalin stared down at the injury as if she didn’t realize it was there. Unable to understand why this man in front of her was concerned she continued scrutinizing him. From deep in her mind a feeling of familiarity and safety floated up. “Chris?” she asked sounding confused.
“Yes. And Phil. And Matt. And Tracy, who I told you would be joining Enterprise.” With each word he was able to get nearer to her.
“How?”
“It doesn’t matter.” By then he was close enough to catch her when she fainted.
ooooo
After digging the shard of glass out of Aalin’s hand and repairing the skin, nerves, and tissues that were damaged, Matt’s temper was honed and looking for a target. Enterprise’s chief nurse sought out his subordinate who had ignored her assigned task and triggered an incident that could have ended very badly.
Annoyed and weary, Matt let his mental shields down and when he found the young nurse her distress blasted into his head.
“Is she OK?” the nurse asked. She was practically shaking with concern.
Matt started to vent his fury, his rehearsed words echoing in his mind, you’re not at a cushy base hospital anymore, one moment’s lapse of attention out here can have life and death consequences; your job is to follow orders, not wander off.
But her thoughts and reaction sobered him. This very junior officer on her first posting on board a ship was not making excuses nor was she trying to avoid repercussions. Her private thoughts were only concern for her patient, not for herself nor her career. “Explain,” he said firmly.
Throwing her shoulders back to stand at attention and taking a deep breath she said, “The lieutenant was cold and shivering. I went to the storage closet across the room to get a blanket. I … I could watch her from there, my back was only turned for a moment … it happened so fast …”
“And what will you do next time?” Matt asked, his voice now softer and kinder. His mental shields were still down, and he felt her relief that she would be allowed another chance.
“Ask someone else to get the blanket,” she answered resolutely, “even if that someone else is the CMO.”
“Good answer. Call engineering and have them check every overhead light in that intensive care unit. Then go get some rest.”
“Yes sir. And …”
“Yes?”
“Are the rumors true? I mean you treated her first …”
Matt sighed wishing he could block out the past few hours and go find Isak. “Yes, they are true,” he said and then reminded sternly, “And my nursing staff does not confirm nor deny nor spread rumors.”
“Yes sir.”
It was days before Matt thought to question who was standing outside Aalin’s room that night while her nurse was on the other side of Sickbay.
ooooo
Phil watched Chris and Aalin carefully as Tracy delivered her report. Chris was sitting on the side of the biobed with a protective arm draped around her waist. As they talked, he periodically reached up and wiped away her tears. “You said the vitals are stable again and there is no lasting damage where the glass cut into her palm?”
“Yes, stable other than the odd readings I mentioned earlier. I want to keep her in Sickbay overnight for observation.”
Phil watched the couple for several more minutes. “It’s not my habit to contradict the advice of my doctors and nurses, but in this case … release her to quarters with a remote monitor. I am across the hall if there is a problem. They will both be better for it.”
“I’ll take care of it.” Tracy responded, deciding to remain in Sickbay overnight and continue investigating the unusual readings.
2:00am
Tracy debated with herself. She had reviewed all the scans and readings five times. The data didn’t add up. They were missing something, something important which could turn serious in an instant, she was sure of it. Yes, they were under an information embargo. But did that really apply to a consult with a fellow doctor? A doctor who was one of the best diagnosticians she knew.
The senior officers were busy, the rest of the medical staff exhausted from dealing with the situation’s aftermath. Deciding this was a time to ask for forgiveness rather than permission, she called the bridge and requested a secure communications link to Vulcan. She had fifteen minutes while the link was established and Hugh was located to wonder if she had overstepped her authority. No, it is the right thing to do, she reassured herself confidently.
Hugh Culber looked concerned. “Tracy, isn’t it the wee hours of the morning there? Are you OK?”
“I’m fine. Settling in. But this isn’t a social call. I have a patient with an unusual set of symptoms, and I need a fresh perspective. I’m asking for your help, but before opening the medical records I forwarded, you need to know our situation is classified and I don’t have official permission to share this with you.”
“My help?” Hugh asked. “You work with some of the best doctors in the fleet in a facility that makes Starfleet Medical Headquarters look antiquated.”
“Stop being humble, it doesn’t suit you. Yes, your help. And I know Captain Pike trusts you. It’s important,” Tracy said earnestly.
“Of course. Give me a summary.”
“I’d rather not, I don’t want to influence your assessment. A couple of things not in the notes yet, the fever is gradually, but steadily rising. There is no sign of an infection other than a rising white blood cell count. And the adrenaline and cortisol levels just dramatically spiked again.”
“OK, I’ll be back in touch soon.” Hugh closed the link and started reviewing.
4:00am
Una pulled on a robe as she walked to the front of her quarters to answer the door. She was tired and angry. Angry at those punks who would so casually end the lives of over 1500 people. Angry they murdered an elderly man trying to help them end the situation peacefully. Angry they dared harm a member of her crew all of whom she protected with the fierceness of a lioness. Angry at herself. She knew there was something important they were overlooking and despite going over and over it she could not find it.
The door opened, revealing a furious Commander Bengsston. Gesturing him inside she asked, “Isak have you slept at all?” In the middle of the night, his long hair free from its usual binding and a murderous look on his face, he truly looked like a mythic Nordic warrior.
He shook his head and said, “I know what we missed.”
5:30am
Una and Isak entered their Captain’s quarters without stopping or bothering to announce their presence. Both had walk-in privileges, and this was urgent. They found Chris awake, still in his uniform, leaning against the wall, watching the scarred transport from the window. Reports from the interrogations littered the desk and coffee table. He signaled for them to stay silent and ordered, “Audio shield, bedroom.” Continuing to stare out the window he asked softly, “What is it?”
Una tilted her head slightly at Isak, indicating he should go first. “Chris,” he started and then stopped to organize his thoughts. Deciding it was best to begin at the end he continued, “The transport and Aalin were not randomly selected. They were targeted.”
When Pike turned to face them, they saw the toll the past hours had taken. That Chris didn’t even try to hide it was the clearest indication. “Targeted,” he repeated softly.
“Yes.” Una confirmed. “Isak and I went through the interrogations and witness statements again. There are too many coincidences for this to be a random occurrence. The hijackers were well-prepared to assault that type of ship. If they intended to take the Ambassador hostage, they would not have killed him. If they were there to assassinate the Ambassador, they would have escaped the ship immediately. They had time to take any number of hostages. There were several wealthy civilians on board. Yet they chose only one.”
“They had a lot of passengers to control. More hostages would have complicated that,” Pike countered in a half-hearted attempt to find a hole in their logic, despite his own growing feeling that the events didn’t add up.
Isak added, “They were planning to leave the ship with only one hostage. Chris, there is no other conclusion.”
“But why?” Pike asked, still looking for a way to disprove all of this.
“Leverage over you.” Una answered, her voice subdued.
“The Federation and Starfleet don’t negotiate with terrorists. And even if they did, in this instance, I would have been removed from the situation due to the personal connection,” Pike countered again.
“But you wield a great deal of influence and would still, even from behind the scenes. Plus, Aalin has her own connections in the diplomatic community,” Isak answered.
“What did they want? Or expect to accomplish?” Pike asked.
Isak shook his head. “Unknown.”
Pike sat down in a chair positioning himself so he could monitor the sleeping figure in the bedroom and continue their conversation. He ran a hand over his face. Then he looked at his officers. “Alright.” Having accepted their conclusions his tone was now brisk, “How solid is your evidence?”
Una took that one. “Circumstantial at this point.”
“We keep a close hold on this, the three of us, and brief Phil. Tell the Captain of the hospital frigate to extend the press embargo another day.”
“That won’t make Command happy.” Una pointed out.
Pike shot her a look that clearly indicated what Command could do with their objections. “Isak, interrogate the prisoners again, see if you can establish a motive and clear evidence.” Bengsston nodded. Pike pointed to Isak’s bandaged hand, “After you get that seen to.”
Isak added, “Most crew use Starfleet transport when returning to their ships. Her decision to take a commercial cruiser was spur of the moment. Since they were well prepared, we have to assume the hijackers knew her itinerary. And perhaps orchestrated events to steer her to that ship.”
Pike sat up straighter and looked to the side. No, that’s not possible, he thought. Looking back at the pair he started, “You mean …”
“They had an inside source,” Una finished.
Isak added the piece none of them were ready to face. “Most likely on Enterprise.”
A soft voice at the doorway to the bedroom stopped their conversation. “Oh … sorry … I didn’t mean to interrupt.” Aalin looked around tentatively. “I was … thirsty.”
Una spoke first, “No, you’re not interrupting.” All three wondered how much of the conversation she had heard.
Pike rose and walked towards her and then unexpectedly stopped an arm’s length away. He started to reach for her arm then shrank back, unsure. She looked to the side and then down, avoiding eye contact with him.
Una and Isak exchanged glances, curious why two people normally easy and comfortable in the others’ presence were behaving awkwardly.
Aalin broke the tense moment by clasping Chris’ hand and he relaxed. Turning her attention to the others she frowned and asked, “Isak, why hasn’t your hand been treated?” Then she looked puzzled, like she was trying to remember something. “The security … the ensign who shielded me when the bomb started to detonate … is he OK?”
“He’s still in Sickbay and will be fine.” Isak assured her. Aalin nodded slightly. “Just out of curiosity, did you tell anyone about your travel arrangements?”
“Maybe my brother? I don’t remember. Does anyone else think it’s hot in here?”
Pike took in her flushed skin and then gathered her in his arms. “Our deal with Phil if he released you from Sickbay was you would stay in bed.” Looking back to his officers, he indicated they should wait. About 15 minutes later he returned and reestablished the aural shield. “She didn’t hear any of the conversation. I’ll contact her brother once the information embargo is lifted. Anything else? If not, proceed as we planned …”
Phil Boyce strode into the room unannounced with Tracy sprinting behind him. As he entered, he barked into the intercom, “Transfer the call from Vulcan to the Captain’s quarters.” Looking around he pronounced, “Good, everyone I need is here.”
Pike held up his hands, silently asking for an explanation. “Aalin is asleep?” Phil asked. Pike nodded. Once the call was online, Phil addressed the group, “We missed something important. Hugh and Tracy connected the dots and will explain…”
ooooo
Chris shot a frustrated look at Phil, rubbed his tired eyes, and then requested, trying to control the sharpness of his voice, “Dr. Culber, please repeat that … no, summarize, this time in laymen’s terms.”
Hugh wanted to reach out to his former Captain, try to give comfort. He knew what it felt like to come close to losing your life’s partner. From this distance the best he could do was explain the situation carefully and try not to sound alarmed. Tracy had redacted the name in the medical records she sent to him. Hugh only learned the patient’s identity when Dr. Boyce asked him to brief Pike.
“There is a drug which is currently banned in the Federation that … physically intensifies emotions exponentially by spiking the hormones present when those emotions are felt. Some cultures use it to deepen a sensual experience. I found it in the patient’s, I mean, your wife’s bloodstream. But that drug has a short half-life. Unless it was administered on Enterprise this evening, we shouldn’t be able to detect it.”
Pike stood and walked to look out the viewport, finding it easier to process this information when he was separated from the group. “Go on.”
“Dr. Pollard was correct. The fever and the spikes of adrenaline and cortisol are related. This conclusion is preliminary, but I believe your wife was infected with a virus that is manufacturing the drug continuously. It’s a brilliant piece of bio-engineering, a virus/drug hybrid.” Hugh shook his head, “Sorry, not the time or place.”
“No apology is necessary,” Chris assured the doctor.
Una spoke next, “But why?”
The answer came from the viewport. “By the time they were ready to make their demands the intensified fear would have broken her and she’d beg me to make it stop.” Everyone was silent for several minutes. Pike looked back at Phil, “This explains the … incident a couple of hours ago?” Phil nodded. Una made a mental note to ask the doctor for more information.
Hugh continued, “There appears to be a second virus as well. This one is stimulating lower brain functions including the flight or fight response, ensuring the effect continues if the concentration of the drug happens to be low. It may also suppress higher reasoning.”
Pike asked, “Such as preventing her from knowing where she is and understanding she is safe?”
“Perhaps sir.” Hugh answered.
“Are these viruses contagious?” Isak asked.
Phil took this one, “No, well only to family. Both viruses are keyed to her DNA. But I don’t see how they got access to that. The virus is too sophisticated to have been created or even modified after they took over the transport.”
Isak looked at the Captain and Pike nodded before he turned back to stare out the viewport. Isak brought the others up to date. “That confirms our, Una and my, suspicions. The hijackers had help … likely from Enterprise.” The weight of that settled heavily on all.
Una said, “Those punks couldn’t have planned this operation much less financed it and built those viruses. They are basically a well-armed street gang.”
Tracy was baffled by a sloppy loose end in an otherwise sophisticated plan. “But there is a fever, her immune system is fighting back. Why didn’t they turn off that response via the virus’ RNA? That would have been simple. And kept us from looking deeper.”
Pike returned to the group and answered, now in his command tone of voice. “Because they didn’t expect nor intend for her to survive. And I don’t believe they are done. We need to unravel this fast and without giving away our sole advantage. This is code-word classified as of now. Limited to this group, Louvier, and Spock. Brief him when he returns.”
He continued, “Everything must appear status quo. We project that we have confirmed it was a random, but lucky attack. Una, lift the information embargo. Isak, no additional interrogations, that will only tip our hand. Phil, remove everything from Aalin’s medical records except the injuries from the restraints and weapons fire. You, Tracy and Matt will have to handle any treatment yourselves. Dr. Culber, I am giving you a direct order to destroy the medical records Dr. Pollard sent to you. Phil, I want to be there when you explain this to Aalin. Any questions?”
“Mia Colt should be included in the group. We will need help investigating the crew. And there is a temporary engineer joining the ship in a couple of days. I’ll cancel that.” Una advised.
Pike looked thoughtful, “Yes to both. Una, brief Mia. Isak, you’re holding back something.”
Isak looked uncomfortable. “You can’t tell Aalin yet.”
Phil jumped in, “She has a right to know.”
“Yes,” Isak answered, “but she hasn’t been debriefed. We can’t risk influencing her memories.” He looked back at Pike. “Sir, I realize this is a delicate situation, but we need to debrief her today.” Isak’s use of the honorific rather than his friend’s first name underlined he was speaking as Security Chief and Second Officer.
Boyce responded, his temper rising. “No, reliving it will be terrifying and with this virus ravaging her body that would be cruel. As the CMO, it’s my decision if she is medically fit for a debrief. She is not.”
Isak took a deep breath. “I respect that and … Phil … she’s my friend as well. But Captain, the universal translator was disabled. Aalin was the only one in that cabin who may have understood what the hijackers were saying to one another. Considering everything, we need that information … now.”
Boyce shook his head vigorously, “No. That’s my final answer.”
Tracy added, “I agree with Dr. Boyce.”
Una watched Pike. His expression looked impassive, but she knew from the subtle signs he was unsure and angry – his chin tilted up slightly, his eyes blinked a couple of times in succession, his hand started to fist and then stopped. She wanted to spare him from making this decision, but only a Captain had the authority to overrule the CMO. She hated when she couldn’t shield her Captain and friend considering it a personal failure.
Pike looked directly at Phil and said resolutely, “The ship and crew may be in danger. Other ships and crews may be in danger. We debrief her today. Noon. Here. Me, Una, Isak, and Phil. That’s all for now. Isak, stay, we need to discuss the security ramifications.”
Filing out they heard Pike say to Isak, “I want the prisoners off the ship today.”

O-Ophelia 💙*hands under chin* tell me all about Ophelia
OPHELIA MY BELOVED of course i can tell you about Ophelia
EDIT 2024; OUTDATED INFO THIS IS ALL LIES NOW
First of all, some Basic Information about her:
- She uses she/they pronouns, with a preference for she/her
- She’s 24 at the start of the story, and her birthday is on the 15th of June. Since the story begins in September 2017, this makes her birth year 1993
- Her birth name isn’t Ophelia Harrow, it’s Rhian Vaughn. She changed it after her father and brother fucked off from the GA after being accused of treachery, in order to sever links between them, as Ophelia was fairly important within the GA. However, she does regard Ophelia to be her ‘real’ name, rather than an alias - basically, a name change.
- They’re the deputy leader of the GA’s Division IV - the Division that deals with research and development, as well as creating and upkeeping the GA’s tech and buildings and all of that. Div IV is mainly known for the cool weapons and advancements in medical technology, but they’re also in charge of shit like washing machines and roof leaks and architecture.
- Incidentally, she has a gf, Alice Kingsley, who’s also the proper Head of Division IV. If this sounds like a conflict of interest, it probably is - but Alice didn’t choose them as deputy head, and the GA runs on 60% nepotism and 40% the weirdest meritocracy you’ve ever seen, anyways.
- Following on from that, Ophelia specialises in bioengineering. In a way, it can be argued that a substantial amount of the plot is, as a consequence of this, her fault.
More, less basic info is under the cut:
I actually wrote a backstory snippet about her in March of last year (shortly before I started writing witcher fic, and the jump in writing quality between this short and DttD can be mainly attributed to @/chaoskirin telling me not to be so overly reliant on the past perfect tense (thank u!!).
Since then, i have overhauled most of the details of their backstory, but the broad strokes stay the same - mum died/was killed, got scouted for being a Sciencey Gal and moved to Central, met Alice, befriended Alice, worked together with Alice to help her dad and brother escape the GA (tho the details of this have been COMPLETELY changed simply because i did not vibe with how it happened in OiaSoM), she changes her name and becomes the deputy head of Div IV (AS AN ADULT THO HOLY SHIT 17-YEAR-OLD ESCHER I THOUGHT YOU WERE BETTER AT ASSIGNING ‘GROWN-UP’ AGES TO PEOPLE JFC), and then gets assigned to covertly assassinate Kite Jansen, an architect-turned-Problem, who they later befriend.
Anyhow, the old version can be seen here: Ophelia is a State of Mind. I’m going to rewrite this at some point, to reflect her updated backstory, and with approximately 90% less use of the past perfect tense.
Also OiaSoM kind of sucks as an Ophelia primer because it also leaves out some of the most important elements of their backstory, but that was done on purpose because I do actually plan to write the damn thing as a comic/webcomic eventually. Subsequently, I figured it was kind of stupid to have major plot twists floating around on tumblr tagged with their character name, so unfortunately you don’t Quite manage to unlock all of Ophelia’s tragic backstory here. I mean sure, it’s still full of spoilers because you’re not *supposed* to immediately know that Ophelia used to be with Div IV, but given that even the characters treat it as an open secret in-narrative, i think it’s an okay “spoiler” to give.
Moving on, some less plot-relevant facts about Ophelia:
- Her favourite colour is dark blue or indigo, her favourite food is strawberry jam sandwiches, her lucky number is 13, and her favourite weather is thunderstorms.
- They doesn’t own pets and can’t see themself doing so, but if they did own pets, they’d want a goose, a lizard, a snake, and a few mice. Maybe a turtle.
- She is very intelligent and capable in her chosen field, but she has no ambitions for herself beyond what others tell her to do)
- She’s Welsh and she speaks with a sort of combination mainly-Welsh-but-also-fairly-noticeably-Estuary-English accent due to the fact that she moved to Central, which is populated mainly by the English, when she was 10, which influenced her accent.
- Despite being very book-smart, she’s not overly savvy-smart. Think of her as a high-int, average-to-low-wis sort of character.
- They’re not really a people-person. Despite this, they do manage to accidentally adopt five children (Vixie, Jack, Kaede, Max, and Beanie) once they’re placed on the same Team as them.
- Her gf, Alice, is Max’s older sister. Max also doesn’t like her very much at ALL initially, however, they grow less cold towards each other throughout the story, and eventually get to a point where they can tentatively consider each other friends.
- They, for some reason, are trusted fairly intimately by Mark Grey. It’s concurred upon that part of the reason for this trust is that Ophelia is a fairly shitty actor and thus, to his mind, can be trusted on the basis that it’s pathetically easy to catch her out. However, this information is fairly outdated - during their time in Div IV, they learnt how to put on an excellent poker face. More likely, a greater part of the reason that is trusted by him is that she’s one of the highest-ranking people in the goddamn Alliance (hence their status as ‘“former” Div IV member’ being an open secret) and that position isn’t given to just anyone.
- They suffer from insomnia, and gets regular nosebleeds. The two probably aren’t related.
- She used to smoke, but quit due to the fact that it worsened her insomnia as nicotine is a stimulant. She also abstains from alcohol and caffeine - the first because she dislikes the taste of alcoholic beverages, the second due to her insomnia.
- Ophelia is attracted to women and describes herself as sapphic or wlw. She’s currently questioning whether she is bisexual or a lesbian, having identified with both labels in the past.
- In terms of gender, Ophelia would call themself a demigirl/demi-woman who prefers she/they pronouns.
- Ophelia also has joint hypermobility. She is One Bendy Girl.
Anyways this has been Misc Ophelia Facts with Me, please feel free to ask more questions if there is something that I mentioned here that you want me to elaborate on and THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ASKING 💚💚

Rogue Interview
hey lads! this interview was ripped directly from “the world of cyberpunk 2077″, the book. has a lot of great content in it and i wanted to share this.
Interviewer: Hi, Rogue. It's a real honor to meet you in person. Twenty-four hours ago I'd never have thought I'd be talking with you in old-school, face-to-face style.
Rogue: Hi... Josh, yes? I have to admit that you showed guts when you asked for that interview. I'm almost impressed, and I'm curious about how it'll come out. To be honest, if not for some... decisions I've made recently, I wouldn't have agreed to it. I have little time for journalists in my line of work. I guess it's your lucky day.
Interviewer: Thanks all the more for your time.
Rogue: Cut to the chase. You mentioned that you want to talk about my cyberpunk past. Why?
Interviewer: We're making material about the comeback of the cyberpunk style, so we thought it would be awesome if we could talk with you about that—how it was fifty years ago, what it was like being a cyberpunk back then, and how it's different from being one now.
Rogue: You've been using the word "cyberpunk" quite a lot, but you must be aware that almost no one uses that term these days, right? Even back then "merc" or "edgerunner" were more popular terms—but okay, let's talk about "being a cyberpunk". Your move, stringer.
Interviewer: Still, you're one of the icons of the cyberpunk era. That's a fact.
Rogue: Cyberpunk is a term from a different time. It's an out-of-date description of a street rebel who's fighting with some omnipotent, oppressive system. Even if I'd had such sympathies back then, I have to disappoint you. I'm not a "cyberpunk" anymore, if I ever was one.
Interviewer: But you were a cyberpunk fifty years ago, right? What was it like to be one back then in 2020?
Rogue: The same as it is to be someone on the street today. It was about your attitude, your personal style, and living your life on the edge. You had to be the coolest-looking, most dangerous guy on the street. You had to have the newest, most advanced cyberware and weapons, and you had to always look like you were ready to use them. It may sound like a cliché, but those were the basics of street reputation. Attitude was everything. It still is. If you think like a whiny asshole, you are a whiny asshole. If you think dangerous, you are dangerous. Simple laws of the street.
Interviewer: And "style over substance"?
Rogue: A catchphrase that was pushed a lot around 2020, at the height of new style. It was named "kitsch", and it was quickly adopted by cyberpunks and all other sorts of rebels. It was the street philosophy that your unique look and personal style should be your trademark. To put it simply, it doesn't matter how good you are at doing something as long as you look awesome doing it. It didn't matter if you had a cyberarm covered with expensive RealSkinn. It was your new chrome cyberarm that made you stand out from the crowd. If you can take out an entire Arasaka strike team all by yourself, you're really good—but doing it armed with a custom-made pistol while only wearing a leather armor jacket, acid-washed jeans, and mirror shades? That was something that earned you a reputation.
Interviewer: How do you feel about the return of the cyberpunk style?
Rogue: Those pink mohawks and synth-leather clothes the kids are wearing nowadays... It's mostly just imitation. Sure, back then it was about rebelling, but rebelling with a cause. It was about standing up against a corporate-dictated order, about defying authority and playing it out with style. To live on the edge, with a capital E. You wanted to be where the action was—to be the action. To do something big and never play it too safe. Youngsters today lack the vision and guts to do really big things.
Interviewer: Like the attack on the Arasaka Towers in 2023? Is it true that you were part of it?
Rogue: [brief pause] Nice try, kiddo. You're not the first newshound to ask me that question, and you won't be the first to get an answer. [laughs]
Interviewer: Sorry, I had to try. So, to rephrase the old slogan, you think that the "real" cyberpunk is dead?
Rogue: The rebel part of it? I think so, yes. Back then in 2020 it was a global movement aimed against megacorporations, but megacorporations have lost a lot of their power in the past fifty years—except for in the free cities like Night City, of course. On second thought, if cyberpunk has a chance to reconnect to its roots, it would be in a place like Night City. Maybe there's hope for second-wave cyberpunks after all.
Interviewer: So, what would be your advice for all those people aspiring to be a cyberpunk?
Rogue: Grow a spine; stop waiting for opportunity and go looking for it.
Interviewer: Touché. Speaking of opportunity, I'd like to ask you a few quick questions about your personal experience as a cyberpunk—or edgerunner, if you prefer that term.
Rogue: We can stay with cyberpunk. It suits you. And I think we have a few minutes left. Hit it.
Interviewer: So, a cyberpunk's gun: a trademark or a tool?
Rogue: It's a matter of personal taste and philosophy. Yes, the weapon can be your trademark. In this business you'll develop personal preferences, so in time you should get the gun that fits you. I have customized pistols myself based on the Tsunami Nue. We went through a lot together. On the other hand, if you want to be a top-tier merc, you have to be as effective with your favorite toy as you are without it. Again, "style over substance". You look cool when you're wasting some boostergang guys with your custom-made Malorian Arms pistol, but wasting them using any weapon that happens to be around is a style in itself. Nowadays, when everyone relies on their favorite guns, improvisation is a forgotten art.
Interviewer: How much does one need to modify themselves to be in the top tier?
Rogue: That's something that everyone needs to determine for themselves, but for me quality is key. No one will hire you for a serious job if you lack proper modifications, and to be a step ahead you need the best cyberimplants you can get. To be a cyberpunk is to chase all the newest enhancements—be they cyber or bioengineered—to get the edge over your enemies and your peers. The choice of enhancements is only limited by your contacts on the street and the size of your wallet, but it should fit your personal taste. Juggernaut, ninja, or ghost approach—it doesn't matter, as long as you're efficient with it and get the job done. But if you can't plan, and you can't execute a job properly, no amount of cyberware will help you get to the top tier.
Interviewer: How much does one need to sell out to the corpos to get to the top tier?
Rogue: [longer pause] Dealing with the corporations has always been akin to bargaining with the devil... Most cyberpunks and edgerunners won't even be aware that they've taken a job from a fixer who's under corporate contract. Those jobs could be anything at all that the corpos want to avoid a direct connection with—like planting a bug, or stealing some data, or assassinating a seemingly unassuming guy, or organizing a heist on an armed convoy. If you're good enough, they'll contact you again via fixer to hire you for more lucrative assignments. That's the tricky part. The money is really good and they can grant you access to really top-notch, restricted cyberware, but if you go for it... they own you. Moreover, if you learn too many corporate secrets, you're in for life—and that could be a very short time if someone in the corporation decides that their list of freelancers needs to be purged for "security reasons".
Interviewer: Do you need friends in this kind of business?
Rogue: Sure. It's good to have someone to cover your back during a firefight, but never go on an assignment with someone that you don't trust, unless the stakes are worth it—or you're ready to take them out if you have to. Even if you trust someone, you have to keep in mind that every partnership ends sooner or later, one way or another. They get killed, go cyberpsychotic, or maybe you just go different ways. True camaraderie is a rare thing in this kind of work. Too many strong personalities and divergent goals. Too much rivalry. Friendship... has its price. It can be a burden. Doing pals favors for old times' sake can lead to messy situations.
Interviewer: Sounds like you know something about it.
Rogue: You can bet on that.
Interviewer: Do you have someone specific in mind?
Rogue: No comment.
Interviewer: Why did you become a fixer?
Rogue: It was kind of a natural transition for me. It's like becoming a coach after ending your career as a ball player. You don't have to compete with younger and more aggressive contenders, and you can still use your expertise and your reputation to make money and stay in touch with the mercenary community.
Interviewer: There were some rumors that your shifting sectors had something to do with you disassembling the Atlantis Group. Can you confirm or deny that?
Rogue: Old story, mostly untrue. It seems to me that some of the guys from Atlantis Bar couldn't bear that times had changed and I had to move on. We all had to. You can't rebel all your life. Yes, I had access to some juicy contracts, and I was willing to share them with some of my friends from the Atlantis Group mercenary branch. Yes, some of us made good money on them, and a few guys decided to retire. If that means I "disassembled" a group of ex-rebels, then I'm guilty as charged.
Interviewer: And finally: do you miss your mercenary days?
Rogue: Sometimes I miss the action, and the thrill of a good challenge. But I am damn good at what I do now, so I regret nothing.
Interviewer: And that's an excellent wrap-up. Thanks for the interview, Rogue.
Rogue: Thanks, Josh. Despite my initial doubts, that was quite an... interesting conversation. Be sure to publish this as it is. Or I'll find out where you live. [laughs]
