Immigration lawyers say the case of a Vancouver woman detained in the United States over a denied visa is a warning to other Canadians that it’s no longer business as usual when crossing the border for work. Jasmine Mooney returned to Vancouver this weekend after she was detained for about 12 days when she tried to cross the border near San Diego, Calif. U.S. immigration lawyer Jim Hacking says Mooney’s case joins a growing list of stories over the past 10 days where people “with varying degrees of immigration status” — even one with a permanent-resident card — were either detained or deported in ways not seen before.

With the way things are going, please spread the word. I have like 0 followers but hopefully people will reblog this.

When you get pulled over or interact with law enforcement you should turn your phone off. "Before first unlock" is substantially harder to crack, and with new model iPhones it means they basically can't get into the phone. After first unlock they can get at least some data.

Border searches are different and I'm not well versed in them, but if you're in the US don't unlock your phone.

I'm not an iPhone shill (Ive been an android partisan for over a decade) but at this point Google's security is so trash I'm transitioning to iPhones when I next need an upgrade.
