I'm wondering if, as a society who cares about vulnerable people, we could stop saying "traumatize" when we truly mean "upset"?

I am sick of hearing sad books or movies "traumatize" their readers. I simply do not believe that happens. A traumatic experience might be adjacent to books (I have vivid memories of books I was reading around certain experiences and even how the contents of those books affected my processing of the experiences). But it's not caused by the book. And, y'know. The weather is Christofascist Censorship Attempts outside.

Meanwhile from the other side I continue to be surprised at just how badly people fail to understand trauma and traumatic experiences in general. Watering down the term isn't helping. Find other hyperbole to express that The Bridge to Terebithia gutted you, chewed on your heartstrings, and made you cry your first pair of contact lenses right out of your preteen eyes.

God, I just know that the family hates playing Scrabble with Jason, because they agree being casual and not search for unusable words through dictionaries intentionally - side eye at Tim, who prior the Scrabble night learned by heart the whole dictionary and spluttered words the next day without even remembering their meaning just because he wanted to win - and then they forget that Jason is English & Literary major. Fat people deserve mobility aids, too. No matter if it's connected to their fatness or not, because having a mobility issue that is connected to one's fatness won't change that they're still fat and still have the issue at hand. Fat people don't deserve to "tough it out" because fatness should be this divine punishment doled out to those who "deserve" it. Fat disabled people deserve to have the peace of mind that they can exist in whatever way is most comfortable and accessible to them

A human TFA Shockwave concept 🤨 in this economy?? I always imagined a human Shockwave to be Yknow. At least part machine, cyborg… makes sense to me. I also gave him a bit of a detective look just cuz it fit his role I suppose.. in my Hc I like to imagine he’s actually blind in his two normal eyes, and sees thru his robo eye instead 😌 to keep the Shockwaveness. But he does move his blind eyes around when doing disguised stuff so he seems not-blind in them (tho he’s not uncommonly off the mark with them)

And in every thing I’ve seen with TFA Shockwave is that he lowkey sucks at being a spy and lying 💔 but I have seen some works of him and TFP Soundwave together and I think that goes hard 😌 two tall lanky spies that are kinda unsettling (one more so than the other,) and creature-y… I also just like how Shockwave looks like a deer in Animated
