Falling in love:

you were confused when you first met Cito but the initial confusion quickly disappeared in favour of adoration

Cito's innocent and simple view on the world tugged at your heartstrings and it wouldn't take long to develop a crush on the untamed but friendly man

after defeating the Gatorclaws Cito asked if you'd stay a bit with him and his family and you were more than happy to accept

you watched him interact with his family, you had a weak spot for the way he managed to communicate with them without using words; his gentle grooming of their fur and tender caresses on their faces revealed a side of him that was completely different from the fierce strength he displayed while fighting alongside you to eliminate the remaining foes in the area

you caught yourself staring at him more and more often, blushing each time he caught you, the smile that formed on his lips when he noticed your gazes made your heart skip a beat

one evening, as you sat atop the primate house, gazing at the stars, you suddenly noticed the presence of Cito beside you:

"Cito need talk to friend. Important", he spoke, his voice carrying a rare hint of concern.

"What's troubling you, Cito?"

Your hand found his, squeezing it reassuringly as you smiled at him. It was the first time since you had been together that he avoided your gaze, his eyes fixed on your intertwined hands as his other hand gently caressed your fingers. At the touch of his fingertips against your skin, the corners of his mouth twitched ever so slightly.

"Cito feel strange. Here", he tapped his chest with two fingers, "strange when Cito is with friend, when friend smile, Cito feel strange."

It took a moment for the realization to sink in, connecting his words with his gestures but then it hit you and your eyes widened in shock at his confession while you could feel the heat rising to your cheeks. Placing your other hand beneath his chin, you gently tilted his head upwards, meeting his tender gaze. His eyes held a soft fondness and you noticed the slight blush beneath his beard.

"Do you feel strange now? Is it a good or a bad strange?"

Cito nodded, taking a deep breath, and allowing his eyes to briefly close as he relished the gentle caress of your touch against his glowing skin, which sent a tingling shiver coursing through his whole body.

"Good strange", he finally answered, reopening his eyes.

You noticed as his gaze fleetingly grazed your lips before diverting his attention elsewhere. For a moment, you contemplated whether it would be useful to explain to him the concept of love and that it was exactly what he was feeling. Thinking about how he communicated with his family, you felt bold and decided to take a more direct approach. Leaning closer towards him, you placed a kiss next to the corner of his mouth, holding back a soft moan as you felt the softness of his beard underneath your lips. His breath hitched at the sudden closeness and before he knew what happened, his hands instinctively found their way to your cheeks, holding you in place while he pressed his lips on yours. You gasped into the kiss, it was sloppy, the movements of his lips uncoordinated, yet unmistakably imbued with love. You chuckled as you broke away, observing how Cito's eyes widened, his tongue ghosting over his lips.

"You know Cito, I feel good weird around you too."

You pressed your forehead gently against his, allowing your fingers to interweave with the strands of his hair. He playfully bumped your nose with his own, a broad smile forming on his lips.

"Cito so happy."
