I haven't done much art recently because I'm burning out a tiny bit, but thankfully I'll have some time off from the graphic studio soon. I'm looking forward to recharging, but I also want to try a thing I've been wondering about!

I finally understand how CMYK layer separation works and I want to see if I can screen print it! So I'm still going to the graphic studio lol, but now for fun, not work :3

i gotta say my favorite thing about the solstice one shot was for sure caduceus’ petty little shit energy. this is a man who’s been the primary healer of his family and friend group for eight years. the catty little “oh, i didn’t volunteer, but you’ve just done that, okay, sure,” when jester roped him into helping her with the hero’s feast. the long suffering way he just gathered his shit and peaced out of the grove when beau and caleb showed up. he’s got ten whole intelligence points now and he’s using all of them to impress reality upon (read: scare the shit out of) luc brenatto. living up to his responsibility as the middle child of the clays

The main takeaway I got from Caduceus's origins comic was realising just how much Cad did not want to be alone.

From the campaign, I had an image of the Clays leaving two by two, and Cadueus volunteering to be the one who stayed. I always thought he knew he was going to be the last one left, and awful as that situation still is, he at least knew it was coming.

But Caduceus was never meant to be alone. The Clays never meant to leave just one child behind. Clarabelle was meant to stay as well. And she left without telling him.

He wasn't ready. He didn't choose it. Yes, he chose not to go, but he never chose solitude, he never thought he was choosing everyone else being gone.

He was scared. He had to talk himself into staying. Standing in a room with his family's handprints on the wall, before a table meant to seat seven. Bound by repsonsibility to stay when everyone else was gone where he couldn't follow.

I don't think I understood til now how Cad was feeling when the Nein found him. I don't think I realised just how much he was desperately, achingly unhappy.
