The entire student culture of tIndiana Univeristy was stood on its head with the Greeks and Jocks, who were at the top of the food chain in 1965, being replaced by the Student radicls by 1968, In 1968, Guy Loftman, a major stud muffin of the on0campus Street Fighting Men, was elected Student Body President, In 1968, the campus radicals took over the Democrat party and, by the time I got back from Vietnam in 1971, they had hijacked the entire American university system, Doonesberry describes that takeover at Yale and the total capitulatioon of kinston Brewster.

The thing is, I the Weather Underground got to Vietnam before I did, THeir objective was to foment a general mutiny like the Potemkin and they had encouraged anti-war resistors to inlist in the military and conduct subversion from the Belly of the Beast, I ran a Recon Platoon on the Ho Chi Minh Trail for 5 months, and spent the remainder of my tour in the rear as part of a perimeter defense and recognized the presence of the Weather Underground from their rhetoric but I couldn't get any senior officers to take any interest. Fortunately, the Cambodian INcursion allowed the military to get out of Vietnam so fast that the insurgence deflated except as a nuisance as the All Volunteer Military came on line.

my personal opinion around AI is the same as most automation, in it's proper use case, it can be good, but requires supervision, and generally should be as simple as is needed. ai should not be used to run a dishwasher when a control board will do just as good of a job. ai should not be used to run a toaster, a thermistor and a electromagnet work perfectly fine. a fridge doesn't need ai, it needs a rudimentary climate control system, and it most certainly doesn't need Internet connectivity! cell abnormality (cancer screening) checking is a good use case for ai as it is a tedious job that humans are not good at, and get worse at the longer they do it (per day, they do improve over time). power plant control is a horrid idea, we already have automated control systems in place for them, and outside of edge cases(such as wildly fluctuating power demands that are somewhat predictable), introduce more likelihood of errors and additional complexity. automated driving is a possible use case, but generally, trains are better (an exception to this would be unmanned exploration rovers, which would generally work better).

let's see, what other examples do I have off the top of my head. image recognition! this is a good use of ai, but unfortunately ai still really struggles with this. generative content, bad use case, lesser product and primarily done as to not pay artists/writers. figuring out if people are going to be criminal reoffenders, bad use case, please read "ai weirdness" for more information but tldr, dataset was racially biased, and the company used the "trade secrets" excuse to not have the dataset exposed. selecting job applications, bad, bias issues due to dataset, easily gamed. route optimization for fedex, good, faster than humans, and generally more effective, needs to be checked by a human. reading human handwriting on postal addresses, mixed, some really bad handwriting still needs humans to help, but it's getting a lot better.

climate change: bad. unless an ai can deathnote significant amounts of oil lobbying and executives, ai is not going to ever solve climate change. and even if it could, i do not trust that it wouldn't just death note the entire worlds population. climate change is a compex topic that stems from many systemic sources and will most likely take years to fix.

furthermore, AI is not a magic bullet to fix problems, it has significant drawbacks and is constantly misused and/or misrepresented. anyone who says otherwise is looking to sell you, or another person something, and you should either ignore them, or seek to deplatform them so that they do not cause harm. and if you find yourself doing so, you should figure out why you are doing so, and reevaluate your stance.

Comparisons between AI and crypto/NFTs will never make sense bc the former has plenty of applications that are actually useful and that regular ppl benefit from in their daily lives while there was never even a single useful application of the block chain, cuz it's a worse alternative to other technologies that already exist. Machine learning is a technology that, if you like it or not, has found a ton of practical uses as soon as it came into being.

DHS Lets Airlines Rush Security to Keep Traffic Moving—“Red Carpet” for Middle Eastern Carriers

The massive agency created after 9/11 to protect the nation risks security at U.S. airports by letting airlines impose expedited measures to keep traffic flowing, according to government officials interviewed by Judicial Watch. “The airlines call the shots,” said a veteran federal agent who has worked at one of the nation’s largest airports as well as the Mexican and Canadian border. “It’s all about facilitating traffic, moving people. Airlines have incredible power at airports and they dictate how Customs and Border Protection (CPB) entry/exit inspection agents do their job.” In fact, airline employees are allowed in the inspections/customs area for incoming passengers specifically to monitor wait times and file complaints with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), which caters to them.

Other CBP port inspection sources told Judicial Watch that in the academy agents are trained to take their time in order to properly complete inspection duties. They are specifically taught not be pressured by wait times for passengers or complaints from airlines. The reality is much different, federal agents say. Once they’re on the job, DHS caves into airlines’ demands for quick—and less thorough—inspections. “When you get to the port management moves away from the importance of inspections,” said one frustrated CPB inspector on the job for more than a decade. “It’s more about speed than safety.” Another longtime CPB agent confirmed that “wait times are a major problem which causes a security compromise to avoid complaints from the airlines and flyers, both international and domestic.” A high-level CPB port inspector with nearly 15 years of experience said Middle Eastern airlines get the “red carpet.”

Concerned CBP agents came forward about the unbelievable airport inspection protocol on the heels of a national newscast about food trucks driving through airport gates unchecked. The aircraft catering trucks are exempt from inspections for religious reasons, according to a former federal air marshal interviewed in the widely broadcast network segment. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA), which also operates under DHS, is responsible for inspecting the trucks but the agency gives out “special exemptions” to food trucks serving planes heading to the Middle East. The agent interviewed in the broadcast was ordered to stand back and a supervisor later told him that “religious rights” prohibited the U.S. government from conducting even an “open and look” check on the cargo entering the airport grounds.

The security crisis is hardly limited to the nation’s airports, according to federal agents on the frontline. DHS also pressures CBP inspectors at southern border checkpoints to expedite people who have obtained pre-approved clearance under a program called Secure Electronic Network for Traveler Rapid Inspection (SENTRI). It allows vetted U.S. citizens and foreign nationals to cross the border faster and with virtually no scrutiny, but agents say the system is not foolproof and candidates still need to be checked. In fact, CBP sources told Judicial Watch that huge loads of drugs have been confiscated from SENTRI border crossers randomly chosen for inspection by a government computer system known as Random Compliance Examination Program (COMPEX). Nevertheless, border agents get in trouble for delaying SENTRI crossers. “God forbid if you ask them a question or inspect their car,” said a CBP agent stationed at one of the nation’s busiest southern border crossings. “Management as well as the passenger become extremely upset—Leave them alone!
