One thing I appreciate about judaism is how it forced me to being more sociable. I am making plans to celebrate my birthday with total strangers because judaism has led me to believe that this world is filled with love and I should share kindness and goodwill with Every Single Person 😭😭🙏

As a token of apology for letting her get hypnotised by Nexorust the revenant, the gang at Château de Amitié have saved an Anima Nexus seed for Tupelo to plant and connect with. I thought about having one of the Jones boys do it, but they're more interested in mechanoids than magic trees, so Tupelo got to do it instead.

Ivy is connecting to nature in her own unique way. I don't know if icy marsh water would be my first choice of swimming-spot, but Ivy grew up in a desert and probably thinks this is great fun. I'm glad she's enjoying herself.

Remember that wild child who was ignored by a bear a while back? Well, we've tamed him in hopes of shipping him to an outpost so he stops loitering around our colony.

The little bastard immediately makes it very clear that he is not very appreciative of our hospitality.

If you're going to act like a pig (is it racist or xenotype-ist to call a pigskin a pig? 🤔) you get nicknamed like a pig. Welcome to the colony, Chow-Down. Hopefully your time with us is brief.

After dealing with a bratty, whiny child all morning, Mechi decided to treat himself and finally get around to studying the Archotech structure nearby. It's so magnificent...

I'm honestly not sure what prompted me to realize this (it is not seasonal for either song lol) but today I connected a hymn from my childhood with the Judaism of my adulthood.
Namely, one of the most sacred moments I remember from my Christian upbringing was how every year on Christmas Eve, when O Holy Night was sung, the verse "Fall on your knees! O hear the angel voices!" would nearly bring me to tears. It felt like my soul was being pulled into prostration before the numinous Divine by the notes of the song.
Now, as a Jewish adult, I realized that the music that grips my neshama like a vice and actually literally pulls me into prostration is the grand Aleinu on Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur. These are probably the most sacred moments of the year for me, and here again, the music lifts my soul even as it forces me to my knees in vulnerability and yirat hashamayim.
Interestingly, I feel a similar connection from how it made me feel when my church would sing Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty, especially the verse about the angels falling down before God, and singing the Kedushah on Shabbos as an adult at my shul. These are much smaller, more common moments, but no less sacred despite that.
And this is not to necessarily compare these moments or equate them for anyone else, but rather to notice a common thread of my soul standing in the presence of the Divine, like a pinhole through time. A link between my past, present, and future selves as I have grown and changed and evolved, and yet still, still, there are sacred songs that awaken my soul to the Divine Presence and draw me into a posture of avodah, ahava, and yirah.

#self promo.#ooc post.#AHHH hey y'all 👀 so i may or may not have spent a ridiculous amount of time on this promo here... mostly due to the fact that-#trying to match the colors to my theme was a painstakingly long process NGL ahahhh BUT ofc there's no pressure for y'all-#to check this out if you don't want to!! however any and all interactions across all of my accounts will always be appreciated okok ❤️#but yeah! as you all may be able to tell this promo is based on the 'magician' tarot card which i chose because of the meaning-#of it. a rather popular interpretation of it is that it symbolizes the meeting of the physical and the spiritual worlds-#and the act of converting spiritual energy into real world action. so basically the act of manifesting your true desires is one of the-#meanings behind this card + that its time to tap into your 'full potential' which i thought could certainly apply to resgalis's journey into#embracing the 'chaos' within them for lack of better words and tossing aside the idea of pleasing other's over being happy with who they-#are because they had been led a majority of their life that they couldn't be the god of trickery or they'd lead everyone down-#a path of destruction which... EHHH its debatable but the point is is that they weren't ever allowed to truly be themselves because of-#their step-father and a prophecy that alluded to them. but yeah its all about bringing your goals to fruition but also making sure to have-#a clear mental picture of what it is you want before you want BC it isn't enough to be motivated by your ego to fulfill your goals.#you have to have a soul connection to them and all of the 'tools' you need for this are represented on the table.

Jayvik + Pushing Daisies au where Jayce doesnt kill Viktor in the commune and joins him BUT Viktor can't touch him bc he converts/heals anyone he comes into contact with, like how Ned can't touch Charlotte bc that would kill her again. And he doesnt want to turn Jayce into a mindless follower.
So much pining for each other bc now they have the time and Jayce has realised his feelings aren't just platonic and they just have to make due with the limitations.
Does anyone hear me

Blake literally watches Fennec rush at Ghira and doesn't call out to warn him that the platform will fall once she pulls Ghira out from under it
So when Ilia tries to murder your parents, she's still capable of redemption, but no one else is worth trying to save? Or are you only willing to extend the effort if girl make sad face :(

Can you talk more about how you decided to convert through conservative judaism over reform and what the process was like for you? I've been going to a reform shul for a while, to the point where I know everyone who regularly comes and I also love our rabbi. It almost feels like a second home, but I realized recently that I think I agree more with Conservative views on halacha and would prefer converting through that stream, but I also don't wanna leave all the nice people I've met so far, and also the nearest conservative shul is over an hour drive away :( I thought I'd just convert through reform anyways but maybe talk about keeping a conservative level of observance for my conversion, but I feel like it would be dishonest to convert reform if I don't agree with their fundamental views on halacha and such. It's hard thinking about leaving the community I love, but I also feel that I'd get more of what I personally want out of Judaism from a conservative conversion. Would really love some advice on navigating this if you're willing!!
I'll preface this by saying that this is included in my FAQ, so if you want to check that out, you might get more information that I might have forgotten to include here.
What I fundamentally believe people should do in the conversion process is to do what is accessible to them. If reform is accessible to you, I don't see why you would have to upend yourself and leave behind your pre-established community.
To me, movement means very little. If you've converted halachically (which reform absolutely can do and does), you've converted. You can be a reform jew who follows or believes in a myriad of things - I doubt a rabbi is going to say, "now, I want to convert you, but you don't believe only in the Reform Positions, so it looks like you can't be converted." If anything, a rabbi would be thrilled to hear what your positions are and why. It reminds me of my ITJ class where the presenting rabbi asked if we believed in g-d or not. She literally balked about how none of us voted "no." She was amazed.
I only decided to convert through the conservative movement because it was the most accessible to me. Nothing about the conversion process changed because I chose conservative - I'm still working with a rabbi, I'm still engaged with my community, and I will stand before a beit din and immerse in the mikvah. If I could let you in on a secret... If movement didn't matter to others, I wouldn't even put which movement I'm affiliated with on this blog. One of the most important things in jewish conversion and jewish life in general is having a community. It sounds like you've found that - it isn't dishonest to be in community and to just be yourself (yes, even if you disagree with some aspects of different practices - two jews, three opinions, anyone?). Plenty of people in my conservative shul are more frum than others, and some are less frum. Even within your own movement, your practices will look wildly different than other jews of the same movement. In actuality, we're all starting from more or less the same starting point which is judaism. You have a lifetime to explore the mitzvot and see how you will practice. Nothing about that is inherently dishonest or disingenuous.

On the subject of Mormon republican leanings and also my old friend Nikita Khrushchev. Let's take a break for a rare moment of combined Mormonposting and Sovietposting.
Tumblr media
Here's Nikita Khrushchev petting a cow during his iconic 1959 visit to the United States. The balding gentleman with the dark suit and glasses standing next to him is LDS Apostle Ezra Taft Benson, who was also serving as Eisenhower's Secretary of Agriculture at the time. ETB was what I will academically refer to as an ardent anti-communist and what I might more pejoratively term a right-wing weirdo. He considered running for president as a John-Birch-society-sponsored third-party candidate with Strom Thurmond as VP in advance of the 1968 election, and then after that fell apart George Wallace asked him to be his VP candidate but LDS prophet David McKay basically forced ETB to say no, to give some idea of his political persuasion.
ETB was not keen on Khrushchev and felt that it was a mistake to invite him to the US at all, but his son Reed apparently took advantage of a car ride with a captive-audience Khrushchev to proselytize to him for forty-five minutes (though apparently Khrushchev argued back!) and later sent him and his family six copies of the Book of Mormon.
