Among all the discourse about the value of people vs AI, fact remains that AI is moving too fast and is now on a level to fully replace people in graphic design, development (IT), marketing, and written content production. Meanwhile people's resilience to it is virtually non-existent.
The new tactics is to flood the internet with as much content as possible to appeal to general populace with an average attention span - and this is for real - lower than a goldfish's (average human - 8.6s, goldfish - 9s). So people simply do not have the time to fact check or question anything.
So it doesn't matter that AI hallucinates like crazy. Once an idea gets thrown, someone sees it, and it sticks. Whether it's true or not no longer matters.
Copywriters, writers, bloggers - anyone who isn't a major popular figure and who makes money off of writing (or wants to in the future) will get swiftly replaced. Not within a decade - based on AI capabilities and Google AI Mode's effect on publishing, if it remains unregulated we can see a total collapse within a year or few.
Now you can have ChatGPT research a topic. It would take about 20mins (rather than a few seconds), but its findings will be accurate, well-written, and faster than any human could.
At first there was a debate that AI will not replace people because people have the knowledge and feel nuance. So at worst some would get replaced and others would be "AI editors" rather than writers. But with this new technology, not even an editor is needed.
Until some sort of regulatory measures are introduced, and there's an IF for that, AI will replace humans. And the rest will lose, rapidly, valuable skills they had before AI.
