fiona - taking lyrium after the blight to cope with uh. all of that. this is the first time as far back as holding trian's corpse that she actually has time to slow down and GRIEVE. and also the first time she comes down from berserker highs that kept her from feeling the physical fallout of battle - her body is like. destroyed. it's just so much hurt. she forms a year-long addiction to lyrium as she substitutes the adrenaline of the blight with it. but awakening, for me, is her healing arc so she does eventually get sober and well again. it's not so much "i'm fixed now okay ❤️ yay ❤️" as it is "i can live with what happened"

caraxes - lol it's gotta be that she's ben-hassrath!! only bull ever finds out and he both doesn't rat her out nor ever confronts her about it (also it takes him longer to figure it out than he'll ever admit to). she also knows that he knows. i'm still working out a lot of details for her especially trespasser, i'm probably gonna have her betray the inquisition but not sure yet what that exactly entails. she's kinda my bad ending inky

Hi... So... You responded to my post about my shift a little while ago and I was wondering if you could give me some tips on how to be more in touch with my theriotypes. I have a good idea on how to let myself be a cat, but I was wanting to know about my (Also recently discovered) wolf theriotype. Being a cat is easy, I've been doing it my whole life without realizing it and just need to be more open to it, but the wolf is a problem. I know that you're a coyote, and was wondering if you could give me tips about being a wild canine or if you have any other sites, communities, or other advice for me to figure it out myself. I've been researching wolf behavior, so I think that'll help.

You're definitely on the right path researching wolf behavior! That'll point you in the direction of what sorts of things will make you feel more like you and give you ideas on what to try out. For me, personally, vocalizations are pretty huge- that's a very Coyote Thing, but can apply to wolves too, howling is like, one of their Key Features.

I also highly recommend making your room your den and establishing a local territory- either just your back yard, or some local places you hang out. I find it helps a lot for me to think of home and work as parts of my territory, it helps me feel secure. Some people even go out and "claim" parts of local parks with howling/vocals and hanging out, but I haven't gotten the chance to do that yet.

If you're a gamer, I HIGHLY recommend Wolf Quest on the PC- one of my partners is a wolf and they're legitimately obsessed with the game and have been following its development for years. You play as a wolf in Yellowstone and you have a pack and raise pups, and I've heard really great things.

I also personally find that adding extra meat to your diet if you're so inclined can help you feel more at home. I need the extra protein anyways, so it was a major bonus for me, but really anything you can tear up with your teeth should be good. Make sure you're still attending to your human form's needs, but feel free to indulge. I also find oranges are a good treat to rip and gnaw on if you're not a fan of meats.

Some good media that might help you feel at home is a movie called Wolfwalkers (highly recommend even to a non therian tbh it's great), and Autumn J on YouTube makes a lot of alterhuman music including one specifically about wolves if you wanna give a listen! It always makes me feel shifty in a good way.

Unfortunately, I don't have a ton of sites or community based links, so I'll crowsource this one- I hope you don't mind me answering publicly. I will say, avoid the fuck out of TikTok. It's full of misinformation and gatekeeping, and generally just kind of a warped view of what therianthropy is. Feel free to check it out for gear and quads I guess, I've heard good things about quads but I can't do them due to my carpal tunnel and they're a newer thing afaik. Just don't rely on TikTok for informative stuff- it skews super young and overall isn't helpful for education, which is fine because it's an entertainment app.

Week 8 Crowdsourcing/ Crowdfunding

Before writing this post, I learned a lot about crowdsourcing and Crowdfunding, but here I am. Hargrave (2022) states that Crowdsourcing means gathering information, knowledge, goods, or services from a larger demographic. This function works through surveys and reviews to collect responses from social media platforms, mobile phone apps, and crowdsourcing websites. These come in both paid and voluntary services. The people working with crowdsourcing usually work as paid freelancers.

An example of when crowdsourcing works efficiently is the Waze traffic app because it functions as finding drivers an option to report accidents and provide real-time information about the roadways. That means a collection of interactive data trafficking from the population itself, which is very needy for the ones on the roads.

We also have the term Crowdfunding, which has a slightly different approach by promoting resources or money/funds to support individuals, charities, and start-up businesses. It is an open wage to supply for crowdfunding requests without any payback. Companies can also provide shares to their contributors.

I was interested in Crowdfunding. Then the question of Crowdfunding for a creative community, is that a thing?

Can Crowdfunding build a community for creatives?

Yes, Artists and creatives have the opportunities at this time of the year to open campaigns to support their work and build a sustainable community based on everyone’s opinions. Exeter City Futures (2018) The idea of proposing new concepts and providing a change in a community. This makes it an attractive way to engage and build a genuine community with much participation to spread awareness and engage in different projects. 

Crowdfunding opens a little dopamine boost for the participator to be able to dictate and further their wishes by doing micro-funding to their specific crowd-community. It’s a form of a democratic system led by the citizens for change. So, if a creative puts out its fundraising page, it indicates the creative is willing to support and spread their knowledge and art to the world. What also benefits are that Crowdfunding can also create outreaches to local businesses and more prominent companies for support, which results in sponsors, and partnerships, which starts this collaborative environment. 

(I’m not mocking fundraising just to be frank, but it is indeed a free way to gain money through your supporters and fanbase.)

Some examples of Crowdfunding organizations for creators are Crowdfunder, an individual platform, community, business, and commercial based. It is catered toward creative cultures and innovation. Based on the all-or-nothing model or keep what you have saved up.

Kickstarter, this is more niched to crowd raising for creatives such as film production, designing, and so forth. It works as a reward or follows the all-or-nothing model.

Indiegogo, focuses on the entrepreneur side of the spectrum and displays the development of designing technology from start to finish. They have a so-called marketplace where your products can be up for sale, which is their form of Crowdfunding.

Crowsourced ideas for the EAH/OUAT crossover because I can't get it out of my fucking head apparently and I need to write them all down in a single place

Apple -> takes the place of baby Neal as Snow and Charming's second child, exacerbating Emma's bitterness because like, if you're a bit jealous that your parents are raising and doting on a baby like they couldn't go to you, that feeling must multiplicate tenfold if said baby is a little girl with blonde hair

Raven -> Regina's baby with Robin. Implies that Cora never dosed her daughter with an infertility spell and also that the whole Zelena pregnancy shebang was avoided somehow PLEASE I need this for my sanity. Has magic blood but ON GOD, Regina will bash Rumple on the head if he comes near her kid with weird power-teaching ideas

(when I made the first post about this I completely forgot that Sparrow Hood is a guy that exists in EAH, but it's fine, we can pretend he doesn't OR Regina can have twins - Raven and Sparrow are names that go so well together, after all! And the prospect is hysterical! Surely nothing could go wrong with those two in the same nursery!!!!!)

so because of Jojo's intervention, her backstory is established as such: she's the result of one of August's pre-canon flings that ends up in Storybrooke when she's quite young. That narrows the window of time where she could have been conceived before her dad was either wooden/a third grader/being a whole dumbass, but I wanted her to be about the same age as her friends and that means keeping her at about 5yo upon her arrival (timelines are wonky because OUAT's timeline IS wonky, but hardly anybody will even read so far, so ssssssh)

August is her nearest relation available, so that's why he gets a handful of child so suddenly. He is...a bit in shock, but he ends up loving her once the surprise wears off. Marco is OVER THE MOON because it's free granddaughter. Archie is just begging that at least ONE member of their family has a kid in a plain, normal way at some point in the future

then the angst kicks in because it turns out daddy's enchanted tree genes are just a little too strong and they resurface quite vehemently once Cedar steps foot in Storybrooke. Maybe she starts turning into wood, or has an averse reaction to lies, or both, I don't know I'd love it to be both, but I'm scared that I will get yelled at for torturing this child any further

the central point is - I was discussing this topic with @bewilderedmoth the other night and she had a STRONG hand in helping me reach the conclusion that a) this is probably the Blue Fairy's fault, so fuck her b) since Cedar is so young in this AU not only would August be desperate that she gets...cured? Un-cursed? Something, but he'd also realize that...shit. He wasn't much older than her when he got thrown into his personal hellscape. That's fucked up.
