My disability doesn't need to be hidden

Two weeks ago, I made a batch of videos for Tik Tok that were supposed to be going up over the next month or so. However, out of the 5 uploaded and queued, 3 were flagged as needing manual review for potentially breaking community guidelines. The only thing about these videos that was any different from the other content I'd made in the past, or the two new videos that didn't get flagged, was that they featured either images of myself where my legs and wheelchair were visible, or images of my fursona Nix (who has the same disability) where their legs and wheelchair were visible. I took all the videos down, since the later ones wouldn't have made much sense in isolation and made a quick crop to the earlier ones so my/Nix's legs were out-of-frame and low-and-behold, they didn't get flagged. This isn't new. In the past, Tik Tok has removed or hidden my videos (meaning they were stuck on 0 views and people visiting my page couldn't see them) when my legs and scars weren't entirely covered. I kind of expected it to happen to the video that used IRL footage of me and I had a backup plan, but censoring Nix in particular just felt... petty and uncalled for. It's bad enough to do this to real disabled people's bodies and that I even had to have a backup plan for it at all, but the other videos? They were stylised drawings of a purple dragon with simplified scars. A drawing I've used on other platforms with no issue by the way; I've uploaded videos with those same images to both Youtube (shorts and youtube proper) and Red Note. It's only Tik Tok that has an issue with it consistently. Despite the vent I had about it all on Tumblr when it first happened, I will eventually re-upload the videos, as well as upload them to other platforms, but I have to figure out how to get around whatever is flagging them first. I won't be hiding or censoring my/nix's stumps or scars if I can avoid it. I know it seems petty and it's going to make things harder in the long run, but I started my tik tok account to share my art, the vast majority of which has disability as a central theme in some way, shape or form, and to educate about disability, and I can't do that If I have to hide mine. My body and my disability (whether depicted on me or on my characters) isn't gore and it doesn't need to be censored. When I created this account, I didn't expect tumblr to be my go-to place to talk about stuff in my personal life and vent - I've been doing that a lot lately lol, to the point it's getting hard to find my regular writing posts. But since I've made a new schedule for myself, I've actually remembered to work on the "writing disability" posts again, and it looks like it will be sustainable for once. Turns out the autistic ADHD person doesn't do so good without a scheduled and visual reminders, who could have guessed lol.

So, I'm going to keep this page/blog as just my general, all-in-one page and the place for my personal life posts, and move all the writing advice over to it's own dedicated page @writing-disability-with-cy (though I'll share them here too, just like with my art page). The posts already on this account will stay here, but I'll probably just reblog them through the new account. It might take me a while to do that though lol. I'm planning for the first new post after my unplanned hiatus to be going up on the 7th of July.

Also, I'm probably going to be moving the actual blog website over to be on the same hosting service as my website, mainly because I am already having to pay for that, and the writing disability blog site would benefit from the paid features I get there. I'm going to see if I can host my video content there too, but that's a bit more of a maybe. It also...looks a lot nicer than the old Blogger site. I promise this will be the last time it moves though, this is getting really hard to do now that there's a decent amount of content on there 😅

Free Manual Wheelchair Reference Models (Version 2)

I've updated the wheelchair models I released for last year's Disability pride month to include adjustable shaders/materials that carry over into programs like Clip Studio Paint for folks who just want to use them as reference, and (what I hope is) a clearer guide on how to use, import/export and make alterations to them!

Each chair is designed to suit different kinds of characters with different disabilities and lifestyles. The chairs available right now are:

2 Active urban-style chairs (one of which includes a rear-mounted power assist)

1 off-road active chair

1 children's wheelchair

and 1 standard "hospital" wheelchair.

and I'm planning to add 2 more by the end of disability pride month (2025)

A link to a user's manual that explains how to make alterations to the files for those less familiar with Blender, and how to import and save them to your Clip Studio Paint Asset/Material library on both desktop and ipad versions of CSP.

I would really like to keep updating these files and eventually include rigs for each (one of these was rigged previously, but I'm not sure what happened, it seems to have broken after one of the Blender updates)

Just like last time, they're completely free to use, with the caveat that they can't be resold or used in AI training. Credit isn't required but is greatly appreciated (as are tags so I can see art that used them!)

I've been starting to read jla comics on my commutes (public transit, i am not driving while reading comic books), and there's some general discomfort/self consciousness for cy/vic with his cybernetics, and i was just thinking, maybe in a not so obvious way, mouse and babysitting mouse makes it less painful, like they just see him first as cousin cy, not a mutilation of who he used to be

Nailed it on the head!! Before anybody is comfortable doing identity reveals, Victor spends his time babysitting Mouse while they have a little domino mask on, and he doesn't give them his name in turn for safety.

But years pass, Mouse grows, and they wanna know cousin Cyborg outside of being a cyborg! So he becomes cousin Victor, or cousin Vicky if he's annoyed them recently 🤭.

Mouse is intrigued by his cybernetics of course. They don't pretend that it isn't there. But they don't draw overt attention to it either. "This is my cousin Vic. Yeah he's got some cool robo bits. His favorite candy is Laffy Taffy and he sleeps on his stomach like an old man."

And Victor. Damn, he's just glad somebody sees him as a man, first, and a cyborg second. Mouse's disinterest in picking up vigilantism only helps those around them, and Vic is no exception.

He wanted to talk? Well, that was even better! Mar'i was more than happy to be able to talk to them again! "Yes! Yes, I am!" To both of these questions. "I mean, uh... I'm just half tamaranean. But I'm not less because of that!" At least her mother had always assured her of that despite of what the tamaraneans she before met said!

Somewhere further in her mind, there were rules that Uncle Cyborg told her, but honestly, the amazing sight of her (extended) family, so young and well and fighting and doing great, was way more enticing than remembering what she had been told. "The sky is so blue! And the buildings, all these lights! I didn't think home was so pretty!" she more or less blurted out, still amazed by how Earth looked here and now.

A giant robotic dinosaur! These bad guys were always ripping off the animal kingdom with their big ol’ robots. And they never stand up to the original!

Or so Beast Boy thought. The mechanical tyrannosaurus opened its jaws wide and crunched the side of a building between its teeth. Beast Boy kept forward and transformed into a T-Rex to match, but the robot was built unnaturally large. He pushed his head against the belly of the metal beast, trying to knock it over. Whoever was driving the robot had other plans, though. It turned and thrashed him with its powerful tail, sending Beast Boy flying across the city block.

He transformed into a tortoise in the air, pulling back into his shell to protect all his softer parts. His shell landed on the pavement and skidded to the stop. Dust cleared, and he shifted back into his human form. Climbing to his feet, he looked up and locked eyes with….

For a split second he thought it was Blackfire. The armor was almost right, and her hair was dark, but her eyes—her age—she was far too young. It was impossible! And she was smiling at him.

“You need to go back to the fight! They need you!”

What the…? Was she trying to distract him? He didn’t take his eyes off of her.

“Huh…? Are you a Tameranean?” he asked. “Are you looking for Starfire?” The fight crashed loudly behind him, but he was unfazed. There was something oddly familiar about this girl.

Dee is a geneticist who holds interests concerning both science and sports. X also holds the system's addictions but is better at managing them than other headmates may be. Ix is logical and practical, and ix tends to be rather organized. They also like wearing silver jewelry.

While Dee is subject to the system's addictions, e is better at managing their use, practicing harm reduction, and setting and following rules about substances. E also fronts when the system are especially high to make sure no harm befalls them. They are very aware of their feelings, and while they are bad at reaching out to large groups of people, they are good at asking for help from people within their system or that the system trusts.

Dee is shy and sensitive, and while she isn't very good at making friends, she is good at asking for help from people she trusts (namely within his own system). Ix is very passionate about ixs interests (namely science and sports) and likes sharing about them at any opportunity, infodumping if applicable. Dee is intergender, as the body is intersex, and this influences vaer sense of identity. OUGHHHHHHHHH *fucking DIES* MANNNN I REMEMBER DRAWING THE OLD ONE- It was at summer camp and this really nice girl tried to teach me her artstyle ToT the perspective is SO OFF but give me a break, I was what- 8??? Anyways-

The ocs themselves are so so so SO old- I made them around the same time as the drawing actually, being inspired by our favorite 2010s "robo kitty" animation memes. You know the ones. (I was an IPad kid, but I was exposed to furries at a younger age than most/silly. I don't think I learned what a furry was until I was like- 9 or 10-)

I don't think I ever named them, they were just Robodog and Cyborg Kitty. It was basically an AU of another one of my ocs, Venus, but if they got captured and sent to a lab (2000s/2010s kids, you know. The fucking neon emo wolf lab shit. The good stuff <33) I absolutely LOVED them. Also, they were nonbinary before I knew what that was. The term I used instead was. Ragingly embarrassing, so I shan't tell what it was.

I find it so funny because every single time I drew them their design changed. The last pic was a jungle-themed costume btw.

They were supposed to be a tortoiseshell-calico mix, but I didn't know what either of those looked like, so I improvised lmao.

But yeah. The prompt for the picture was Cy talking about an adventure they had before being kidnapped to the lab, and Robodog listening. (BTW they actually hacked robodog bc he was evil. Yeah. They were so cool <333)

Anyways, this was SO fun to draw, especially because of the fact I improved so much lmfao.

The Paralympics start Today!

I wanted to celebrate by continuing Australia's tradition of using (definitely not) furry characters to represent our athletes lol. Wheelchair basketball was my sport back when i was playing, so i have a soft spot for it, and Australia's women's team are The Gliders, so i went with a basketball playing sugar-glider character!

I had plans to do a few more characters for different para-sports before the Paralympics end but things have come up and I'm not sure I'll have the time for more, but I really want to!

On a little side note I thought about while drawing this, having a long tail (movable or not) would be a nightmare in both wheelchair basketball and rugby lol - you aren't supposed to hit people from behind but it does inevitably happen a lot, quite aggressively, and even tucking the tail underneath the frame wouldn't protect all of it in a collision.

her body was designed by Zoffy and herself to mimic an ultra's appearance, but under all that armor, clone tissue and bio-tech is the broken and scarred body of a human woman who had her whole life turned upside by a person she trusted as a friend and mentor before Zoffy learned truth and rescued her.

Other Ultras or aliens are put off by her presence when they first meet her. cos everything about Cy screams "uncanny valley."

Remember that TETOCU Roleswap AU I posted about yesterday. Well, I'm working on the next chapter on ACIT, but I've had pretty bad writers block. So this will help the writer's block down.

The 6 OCS from the Roleswap AU!

Eleanor White is the art teacher. She is generous, lovable, loyal, and a natural problem solver. She loves drawing. Sometimes Eleanor draws a picture and her daughter Rosalie adds color! Eleanor is such a kindly girl, even the jerks George and Harold think she's adorable! She is aroace, like my ACIT OC Hazel (remember her?).

Esther is Eleanor's oldest daughter. Esther knows the truth about what makes a real friend. She has zero tolerance for anything or anyone unkind or with ill intentions. She is very protective of her sisters and will stand up for them, even if it means getting violent. Sometimes, Esther struggles to keep his cool. To blow off steam, she reads books. Esther can sometimes be a bit shy, but it doesn't stop her from being a brilliant friend.

Mariana is trans, and the Middle Sister/Brother. She’s female presenting but has male genitalia. She loves tennis. She also has a soft side for cooking. When she was little, Mariana didn't know how to swim! Eleanor taught her how. Mariana's outgoing personality pairs perfectly with Esther's shy composure.

"Mikado Sannoji; awesome antagonist, amazing fangame, but I hate that guy as a person."

The youngest sister, Rosalie is so kind and sweet. The problem is, not everyone is as nice as her! As a result, she's sometimes accused of looking at the world through rose-colored lenses. Along with being a bit of a dirt, Rosalie has two left feet and can almost always be found tripping over something or falling flat on her face. She uses painting to show her emotion and feelings.

Rosalie loves anything creative and is very artsy. She played a certain visual novel once. Rosalie sometimes likes to make her friends laugh by doing a silly dance move with her trusty paintbrush.

School nurse. Clare is a college student, and not quite a teacher. She has heterochromia. She can commune with animals, both gaining information from them and using them as allies. Yes, animals include Pokémon ;) Clare is friends with Esther, Rosalie and Mariana. When asked about it, Clare says it wouldn't really matter anyway since she's not included in Eleanor's family. Her bow tie is expressive! Clare doesn't have a best friend. She likes all people equally. Yes, this includes George and Harold, the jerks no one likes. Every day, in a special notebook, Clare writes down one thing that has made her smile that day. This mostly includes adventures with the trio, but other things too.

Cy-Eleanor is Eleanor's future self, and Melvinborg's girlfriend. She and her boyfriend were involved in the same car accident. They swear that the age gap when dating is good for them! I took all of the traits that Eleanor had, and gave a contrasting trait to Cy-Eleanor. Generous? Try greedy. Loveable, loyal and a natural problem solver? Cy-Eleanor is cruel, conniving, and powerful. Aroace? Try a person who will do anything, no matter how depraved, to help her beloved cyborg, even if he doesn't want anything to do with her! She appears in season 2. And yes, the gray bits are meant to be her cyborg half.

"Well, I chances are I'm gonna have to be the one to fix them so I could make those vents less likely to fall apart on ya next time."

Mac said already drawing up plans.

"..if ..there is a next time." He added worriedly.

"I know we ain't supposed to be all friendly like this, but, it's mighty nice being able to talk about things without worrying about upsetting the team dynamics." The Blu team was largely at peace with each other,but there were undeniable social groups inside of themselves. Some who got along better than others. It was a delicate web at times and Mac had an inkling of how certain members saw him.

It was nice talking to Cy, about these things.

Mac smiled fondly at the mention of Spy's choices.

"I know you and Dell aren't fans of him on the battlefield but, he's a real swell guy. He's helped me a ton and.. compared to soldier, he's the more reasonable of the two to me."

Mac liked Spy, even if his cigarettes made him sick. He helped him in his early days getting over the hang ups he had in killing. I'm normal circumstances, this would be a bad thing, he imagined. But Conaghers were never meant to live in normal circumstances.

Not these ones at least.

"Fritz was pretty peeved at that when the rest of us were coming back in from the battlefield. Started a whole argument over not calling in kills as a heads up." Mac mused, remembering the yelling.

"Dimitri is- he's one of the younger members here if you can believe it. He seems to handle the whole..nature of the job just fine. Fella prides himself on his Capabilities. Sure he'd be thrilled to hear he's hard to kill and quite the threat himself." Mac explained, trying not to think of the red heavy whole he spoke of his own.

Speaking of thinking-

"Ya know, I think I can help ya. Just don't let anyone else see this. " He whispered as he pulled out a blueprint of the Blu base and handed it to Cy.

"This will show you all the passage ways into this place so you can get in and out to visit."

He accidentally knocked something over, Making a loud noise. Trying to pick his knocked over things, he too, fell over.

He let out a sharp cry.

The cry of pain from Engineers workshop sent a jolt of fear through Spy. He should have intervened earlier. He knew what that cyborg was capable of on the battlefield and he'd let him stay so long alone with Mac.

He raced in, pushing the doors open and pulled out his sapper, ready to strike.

"Get away from him. I spared you and this is how you repay all me?" He snarled.

( tales-from-the-blu-team) Blu engineer, who would rather be known as Mac and back in his old life, came across the cyborg. Eyes taking in the details of this strange figure, he could not help but remark.

" I've never seen you around before? Are..are you a new class? Are we supposed to be getting a tenth teammate?"

Scout. Soldier. Pyro. .. engineer. Heavy. Demoman. Medic. Spy. Sniper. .these were the classes he had grown up knowing and was always destined to work with.

The idea of a new class was...something to get used to

They shrug.

“How am I supposed to know any of that? I’m just here to kill people. Used to be an assassin until I joined RED and my Engie worked his magic on me. Now I’m an assassin but even better. It’s pretty sweet you should try it out.”

He spins around, showing Mac every part of his body, as if to prove his point.

“I mean, if you want your own cyborg, you’re probably gonna have to make em yourself.”

Unspoken Hearts Ch1 Friend or Foe?

This is a gay love story between Cynder and Peril. If you don't like it than you don't like gay people and not liking gay people is a very bad thing to do!

Authors note: I haven't rewatched Skylanders on Netflix in a good while, but I remember Cynder having daddy issues. And knowing Peril had stepmommy issues, I figured they'd make a cute couple! And I may have totally stolen this idea from @cy-cyborg on Tumblr, but we're pretty much besties anyway, so it's all good! Ze said I can use Zim's idea, so that's what I'm gonna do!

Also I get like no interaction on Fanfiction or Ao3 so I'm also going to upload on here!

Chapter 1: Friend or Foe?

"Attention, fellow Skylanders!" Master Eon's voice echoed through the command center, drawing the rapt attention of the Stealth Elf team. With a commanding presence, he continued, "Today, we have the pleasure of welcoming a new student. She hails from distant lands known only as Pyrrhia, and her name is none other than, Peril."

The very mention of Peril's name sent a shiver of intrigue down Stealth Elf's spine. Her heart raced, brimming with anticipation as she envisioned the newcomer. "Peril—what an apt name! It carries an air of danger and mystery."

Master Eon's laughter resonated warmly in the room. "Indeed, young Stealth Elf, she is quite dangerous in her own right. She possesses a remarkable pedigree, having killed thousands of dragons by the tender age of five."

The revelation left the Stealth Elf team in awe, their collective gasps hanging in the air. It was Commander Cullen who broke the silence, his voice tinged with concern. "Did you say... 'kill'?"

Master Eon chuckled, trying to alleviate any unease. "Ah, my dear Cullen, it seems we may need to refine our vocabulary. Perhaps we should use 'unalive' instead."

"Master Eon, we don't engage in taking lives," Cullen stated firmly, brushing a stray lock of his golden hair from his forehead.

Master Eon raised an eyebrow, genuinely puzzled. "But, my dear Cullen, you are Skylanders, entrusted with the safety of our world. Our foes are often relentless and dangerous."

Cullen clarified, "We prefer to make them see the error of their ways, and send them home with their tails between their legs."

Stealth Elf's boundless energy bubbled up. "Or we bring them to justice by sending them to prison!"

Pop Fizz chimed in with a touch of skepticism. "Though, they do have a knack for escaping. And speaking of surprises, why is Commander Cullen here among us?"

Master Eon cleared his throat, addressing Pop Fizz's curiosity. "Ah, well, as it happens, the voice actor for Jet Vac had some unfortunate views with trans people, leading to his departure. Given the unique nature of Jet Vac's character, we brought Commander Cullen in as his replacement."

The team collectively nodded in agreement, though Pop Fizz couldn't quite distinguish the voices. "I've got to admit, they sound pretty similar. Can anyone else hear the difference?" In unison, the team affirmed that only Pop Fizz seemed unable to discern the change.

Commander Cullen, however, couldn't help but express his reservations. "I'm just concerned, Master Eon. Having someone with a penchant for killing doesn't sit well with me."

Eruptor interjected thoughtfully, "Cullen, didn't you lead an army in your previous role? I recall battles where lives may have been lost."

Cullen, defensive yet sincere, crossed his arms. "I never took a life with my own hands. I had others do the fighting for me, a critical distinction."

Stealth Elf felt a pang of uncertainty. Her heart ached as she grappled with trust, torn between the prospect of Peril's dark past and her growing doubts about her comrades. The world of Skylanders had suddenly become more complex, casting a shadow over her once-clear convictions. Who was Peril, How did Master Eon know her? And can she actually tell the difference between Commander Cullens voice and Jet Vac? All or none of these answer will be revealed in the next chapter!
