I think it would be hilarious if random Gotham citizens heard snippets of Jason and Bruce’s fights
Like, someone’s just walking out a building, maybe the end of their shift or whatever, and just hears
You want me to be a dumbass so bad! I read Jane Austin!” And the rest is muffled by wind
They look up, catch a glimpse of shiny red and the cowl’s ears, and are left wondering whether the criminal gang leader, or the personification of Gotham’s vengeance read Jane Austin in their spare time
#Batman’s voice isn’t all that well known at this point in time#he never publicly speaks for the justice league#and obviously the Red Hood’s voice isn’t known#anyone who hears it is either dead or too scared of him to describe it#plus they could both have voice modulators#batman#red hood#dc comics#dc#batfam shenanigans

City of Fear pt 7 - Shot in the Dark pt 7
Start this module here!
Previous part here!
Links to all posts for this module in the pinned post!
Okay, forget the persuasion, let's just knock this guy out and take him out that way! We beat him on initiative, so we get to go first. I was going to maybe have a poll option for if we wanted to use Superspeed to do multiple actions in our turn, buuuuut we rolled a 13 and obliterated this guy, so he's out in one super-speed punch and we're moving on!

As soon as we've handed the guy over to the authorities, there are reporters everywhere.
"Who is this guy?" "Why was he shooting at trains?" One of the reporters, a man with hair that looks like the frayed end of a rope, is hanging back from the crowd of newsmen. He is not interested in you, bur rather, is looking at a group of kids that are playing makeshift instruments for money that people are throwing in a cup. He tosses them a bill that is so large that the kids stop playing and look at him in surprise. One pockets the bill, says "Thanks," and they continue playing.
One of the cops approaches us to ask about what happened, and by the time we look back the musician kids are gone.
"Flash, we're glad you're here. We just got an anonymous tip about a dangerous situation down in the Wall Street area. It seems some nut planted a bomb around there somewhere, and it's set to go off at the last tolling of Trinity Church's nine o'clock bell. We have no idea where it is or what to do, and we only have three minutes left. You're the only one who can do something about it. Please help us."
And we're on to the next crisis!
You head south at top speed towards Wall Street. You are at the corner of Wall Street and Broadway almost before you realize it. You have no idea where the bomb is or who planted it. Your only hope is to try and find the bomb or the bomber. The Trinity Church bell begins to ring. There are only seconds left!
So here's the deal! We are on a major time crunch to find this bomb! We've got until the bell stops tolling, which in mechanics terms means we can make three stops to take some sort of action to try and locate it. We can make perception checks as we're running around, but after each fourth check there's another bell!
I'll give you a map of the area and a list of the people who are around. Vote for who you want to do a Perception Check on, or if you want to go to a different location! (For the sake of expedient gameplay I'm only going to offer locations that will give information at that point in time, so we don't waste our time with "You see nothing and no one" answers.)

Here we go! We are currently at the red star (the general location of the bomb per the cops), so the people we can see right now are A, C, D and E.
A: You see a finely dressed man in a dark grey pinstriped suit. He has jet black hair and greying temples. C: You see a large, bearded man, with thinning, sandy blond hair. He is wearing a grey suit and a yellow tie. D: You see a teenager with dirty blond hair, wearing a denim jacket and black jeans. He has a manic look in his eye and a grin that is a little too wide. E: You see a teenager with curly brown hair. He is dressed in a day glow orange sweatshirt, blue jeans, and orange hightop tennis shoes.
We are on Bell 1! There are 8 bells remaining!
#dc ttrpg#dc comics#polls#city of fear#the flash#(I am taking some liberties with the mechanics in this to translate it to a poll format.)#(Just in case anyone happens to look at the module and go “hey wait a second”)

National Astronaut Day
Blast off into an out-of-this-world celebration! Learn about space, astronauts, and explore the cosmos. It's time to reach for the stars!
Space travel brings with it a myriad of adventures and discoveries! And the astronauts who get to travel in space are a rare and special type of person. Take time on National Astronaut Day to celebrate these people who have had some of the most unique experiences possible for a human being by traveling beyond the earth and through space!
History of National Astronaut Day
The first American made his adventure into space travel on May 5, 1961, when Alan Bartlett Shepard Jr. made his historic 15 minute suborbital space journey. Since that time, the astronauts and cosmonauts who have continued the expedition into the virtually unknown world of space have been heroes of exploration!
National Astronaut Day was founded to pay honor and respect to the American astronauts of NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration). The purpose behind the day is to provide an opportunity for astronauts to share their stories and experiences for the rest of the world. The hope is that these types of stories will encourage and inspire young people to pursue an interest in the space sciences.
The first National Astronaut Day took place in 2017 and the day has been celebrated annually ever since to commemorate that first time of the United States human flight in space. The day was founded by the Uniphi Space Agency, which is a talent and marketing agency that has represented at least 20 different NASA astronauts.
National Astronaut Day Timeline
April, 1961 First astronaut enters space
Russian Cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin is the first human to enter into space.
May, 1961 First American astronaut launches into space
Just a few weeks after the Russians entered space, Alan Shepard becomes the first American in space.
July, 1969 First men on the moon
Astronauts Neil Armstrong and “Buzz” Aldrin become the first men on the moon.
June, 1984 First American woman in space
Sally Ride becomes the first American woman in space, on the Space Shuttle Challenger.
November, 2000 Astronauts live on the space station
The first long-term astronaut residents land on the International Space Station.
How to Celebrate National Astronaut Day
National Astronaut Day is a great time to learn more about astronauts while showing respect and admiration for them. Celebrate the day by implementing some of these ideas:
Read Books About Astronauts
One super way to celebrate and enjoy National Astronaut Day would be to get more educated and learn more about who astronauts are and what they do. An excellent option would be to read a biography about an astronaut. Choose from one of these (or read them all!):
Through the Glass Ceiling to the Stars by Col. Eileen M. Collins (2022). Read the story of this woman who was an aviation pioneer among her peers, as one of the most recognized and admired women in the world.
First Man, The Life of Neil A. Armstrong by James R. Hansen (2005). This biography tells the story of the first man who walked on the moon.
John Glenn, A Memoir by John Glenn (1999). This autobiography reveals interesting details that could only come from an insider not only to the space program but also for American politics.
Sally Ride: America’s First Woman in Space by Lynn Sherr (2014). This definitive biography reveals exclusive highlights from Sally Ride’s family and partner.
Learn Fun Facts About Astronauts
When you celebrate National Astronaut Day, it might be fun to collect some interesting facts that can be shared with friends and family members to raise awareness for the day.
For instance, did you know that astronauts actually have to wear a special kind of diaper? That’s right, these are called ‘maximum absorbency garments’ that need to be worn when they go on long space walks or wear heavy equipment that is difficult to take off and on.
Not only that, but when in space, the bones and muscles of astronauts can easily waste away, so it’s important that astronauts work hard to get enough exercise. Plus, because of microgravity, astronauts can actually get up to 3% taller after spending time in space. They’ll eventually return to their normal height after three to four months back on earth.
Finally, if an astronaut cries in space, their tears don’t roll down their cheeks. Instead, they simply collect on their faces to create large globules of tears. So sad!
Watch a Film About Astronauts
Get involved with the adventure of a lifetime by watching a documentary film showing all about space travel. Or, try watching a movie that was made to portray the unique stories of the various astronauts who have been part of the space program for the last five decades and more, such as one of these:
Apollo 13 (1995). This movie directed by Ron Howard has an all-star cast including Tom Hanks, Kevin Bacon and Bill Paxton, is based on the true story of the Apollo 13 space mission to the moon that was aborted and almost ended in a fatal disaster.
First Man (2018). Based on the book of the same name by James R. Hansen, this movie follows the story of Neil A. Armstrong (played by Ryan Gosling) leading up to the Apollo 11 mission to the moon in 1969.
The Right Stuff (1983). This epic historical film drama is based on the non-fiction novel of the same name, which tells the details of the first 15 years of the US space program. Starring Ed Harris and Scott Glenn.
Lucy in the Sky (2019). Featuring Natalie Portman, this film is loosely based on the life of astronaut Lisa Nowak who was in space in 2006 and spent her time controlling the robotic arms of the International Space Station.
Throw a National Astronaut Day Party
Whether it’s a group of teachers hosting a National Astronaut Day party at school for their students or a gathering of friends who get together to celebrate and honor the day at home, this is a great time to host a party!
Invite guests to wear a space themed costume if they would enjoy dressing up. Serve snacks that are themed around the idea of rocket ships, stars, space, the moon and more. It would be fun to be entertained by playing various games that go along with the theme of astronauts, or watch a film or documentary to help with learning more about who astronauts are and what they do.
Finally, during the party, don’t forget to play a space themed list of music that will keep things moving. Choose songs like Space Oddity (aka Ground Control to Major Tom) by David Bowie; Rocket Man by Elton John; or Man on the Moon by R.E.M.
National Astronaut Day FAQs
How much do astronauts get paid?
An astronaut who works for an agency like NASA may make up to around $100,000 per year.

Strangers in Paradise pt 2 - Diplomacy Time
Start this module here!
Previous part here!
Links to all posts for this module in the pinned post!
Block Shots: With a rebellious shout, you streak forward, your cape billowing behind you. You fly into the air above the arena, maneuvering between the gunman and his ambassador target. Above the murmuring of the crowd, your ears make out the distinctive crack of rifle fire. A veritable rain of bullets hurtles toward you and you brace yourself for the impact of intercepting them.
Time for a check! It's STR and DEX, which are 20 and 26 respectively, because we're Wonder Woman. So we only need a 4 to succeed.

Deflect Bullets: You whip your bracelets through the air with dazzling speed. A hail of bullets crashes into them, sending a jarring shock through your arms and into your body. Mortals may find your "Flashing Thunder" demonstrations riveting but you still find them drastically unnerving. With a speed born of indignation, you intercept each bullet, sending them all hurling off into the open air above the arena. During the barrage, you still manage to glimpse the would-be assassin: a heavyset man with dark skin and black hair who wears workman's coveralls. The gunman looks surprised, startled by your unexpected appearance in the path of his bullets. Realizing his predicament, he drops his rifle and bolts toward the arena's exit ramp. You sail towards him and pick him up as he reaches a nearby stairwell. You swing him forcibly into the wall, knocking the wind out of him. You then deposit the gunman in the arms of the arena's security force, which is finally responding to the alarm.

Okay here's the thing. I think this is a mistake in the book. The section it directs us to is an exact copy of the another section, which refers to someone being murdered. Except all three pathways that lead to this duplicate section section (including this one) specifically reference the assassination attempt being thwarted. So: we definitely did thwart the attempt and no one died, but the module is slightly messed up.
Dead Attache II [[only not?]] You return to the stage, where the emcee is valiantly trying to keep the audience members in their seats. "Please...please, everyone," the emcee please, "remain calm. Everything is under control. Everything's fine." Taking the microphone from the emcee's hands, you plead a different case. "No. Nothing is fine." you say. "A man just [[almost]] murdered another man! I do not know which set of tensions resulted in this horror but such hostilities are exactly why I am here. Millennia ago, when men fought with mere bronze swords, the Amazons came to men with the doctrine of peace. Today, when those swords have given way to guns and bombs, our message is especially vital." The audience rises to its feet in a sudden outburst of cheering and applause. You are slightly taken aback by the enthusiasm of their reaction. You wonder silently, [Why is it so hard to bring peace to the world when so many people are so hungry for it?] Selection Process: You finish the lecture on a triumphant note and return to the cool darkness backstage where you are welcomed by your closest friends on Man's World: Steve Trevor, Etta Candy, Julia Kapatelis, and her daughter, Vanessa. "You were great!" Vanessa gushes, giving you an impulsive hug. "Good ad lib," Steve says with a smile, leading you along the backstage corridors. "You really got them where they live, Diana." "I'm very proud of you, dear," Julia says. "But now comes the hard part: a task I've been wondering if even one possessed of the powers of the Greek gods can handle." As Julia opens the nearby door, you hear the cacophonous babble of a hundred squabbling ambassadors. In the course of the ensuing day, you meet with dozens of people, each eager to represent his nation on a journey to Themyscira. With the consultation of Julia, Steve, and Etta, you quickly narrow down the list of applicants. During the meeting, the arena security force informs you that the gunman has been identified as a hired killer, paid by an anonymous backer to assassinate the entire delegation from the Emirate of Kabul. The assassin has not yet been linked to any political faction, which does not keep the Kabulian ambassador from making his own conclusions regarding the employer's identity. "Obviously a terrorist from Fujara!" the Kabulian ambassador shouts. "We are extremely familiar with the backstabbing ways of our notorious mid-east 'neighbor'!" "You are just trying to gain sympathy for your own traitorous country!" the Fujaran ambassador shouts stridently. "This is nothing but a cheap ploy to generate publicity out of a tragic event!" You stride over to the pair and level a calm but steely gaze at them. They turn and look at you. "And what is this to you?" the Kabulian ambassador hisses. "A woman...and an outsider at that!"
We gotta do a Charisma check with a penalty because they're hostile, but luckily we are very charismatic so we only need a 7.

Mediation: "Gentlemen," you begin. "If you have a disagreement, there are ways to solve it other than clashing like this." "Hah!" the Fujaran representative shouts emphatically. "WIth this mountain ape there is no option!" "The Fujarans never listen to reason," the Kabulian responds. "They have heads of brick!" "Quiet, both of you!" you say, cutting the argument short. "If you cannot respect on another, simply avoid further contact." "We are certain the gunman was from Fujara!" protests the Kabulian. "We demand a formal apology!" "That is an important matter, I agree," you reply firmly. "However, it is one which should be resolved at a more appropriate time. My purpose here is to select ambassadors to Themyscira, not to mediate international affairs." The two men grumble briefly but soon separate to distant corners of the room. You return to Julia, Steve, and Etta, who smile at you and compliment your success at resolving the immediate situation. Information: "Tell me about the ambassadors," you say. "They're from two small mid-east nations," Steve Trevor replies, "Fujara and the Emirate of Kabul." "The feud you saw today has its origins as far back as the middle ages," Julia adds. "And they still dispute their bordering territories." "Fujara is nominally allied with the United States while the Emirate has ties with the Soviet Union," Etta says thoughtfully. "The U.S. and the U.S.S.R. used to exert some influence over them and could normally keep the two nations from fighting. Unfortunately, Fujara and the Emirate won't listen to either side anymore." Steve frowns, continuing. "Ever since the two superpowers nearly destroyed the world during the Ares Affair, they lost a lot of credibility with their allies." "But that was all due to Ares' manipulations," you protest. "I know that and you know that, Princess," Steve replies. "But most of the world remains skeptical about the actual existence of your gods. Nevertheless, since the Ares Affair, these two nations have been at each other's throat, just looking for an excuse to declare war. And it seems there's nothing anyone can do about it." "Don't be so sure about that," Julia interrupts. "Diana, if you invited those two ambassadors to Themyscira, they just might learn some important lessons, don't you agree?" "What?!" Steve asks, incredulous. "Diana, you can only bring five ambassadors," Etta interjects. "Are they really the sort you'd want to invite?" "Etta's point is well taken, dear," Julia adds. "These two could benefit greatly from the visit...or they could ruin it all. And think of your Amazon sisters. If the visit goes poorly, they may not accept any more visitors. That would be a high price to pay. "It's your decision, Diana," Julia continues, solemnly. "Consider wisely, as I know you will."
(Bet y'all weren't expecting so much international diplomacy right out the gate, huh?)
