Summary: Write a breakdown or scene about one moment in your character's life they would give anything to turn back the clock ten minutes and do differently, why, and how they believe it would affect their lives (whether that belief is reality or not is all a matter of perception!!

It was not for the first time Cregan got lost in his thoughts of how he could have changed things. Especially concerning his uncle. He wondered if they could have bonded more; maybe it all would have ended differently - and without bloodshed. That young Lord he used to be had trusted his uncle completely. Alas, it seemed power always corrupted.

Cregan watched as the fresh lemon he had sliced began to move over Ice. The blood had stained it after he had been busy with affairs of the southern court as well as his own personal..affairs. Cregan only shook his head; falling back to the memories of his uncle. He thought back to how Ice used to be on his back and how it never seemed to truly fit him. Cregan also remembered the punch his uncle gave him when he touched Ice and Cregan's wish of a different beginning began to change.

No, he would not keep his uncle close if he had the chance again. The Lord of Winterfell would not have changed a thing other than taking his uncle's head off that much sooner. A dark smirk tugged on his lips at the mere thought as his hand began to move faster over the metal of his ancestral sword. The lemon falls to pieces under his strength.

Challenge: Defining moment

First his beloved daughter had died by dragon fire, fighting to bring another grandchild into the world. Soon after his only son and heir had perished in the flames of their own hall. In the home Corlys had built for his family and legacy. A legacy now lost.

While the succession seemed settled with Lucerys, Laenor’s second born son, Corlys still felt uneasy. Pent-up energy that needed out. He was ashamed to admit that he could barely face his wife’s silent grieving. The tears he knew fell in the darkness of night. The quiet days. Corlys needed out.

An expedition was planned in a hurry. Heading further east that even he had been before. Rhaenys saw him off at the harbour as she had done before. However there were no words from her, just a stoic husk of the woman that used to be so full of life. He had kissed her tenderly, before he had boarded The Sea Snake. Only when they set off, did he realise he had not told her how much he loved her. Realised that he had not asked how she felt about his expedition. He had taken her silence as acceptance. Given a second chance he would have held her close, told her only she could pull him from the sea. And maybe even asked His Princess to join his expedition and leave the sadness and mourning behind.

Challenge: Defining moment

Two children. Her children. Her only children.

Gone.

Dead.

Burned.

Buried at sea.

Rhaenys knew it wasn’t uncommon for mothers to lose children, but to lose both of her beloved children well into their adulthood, hurt more than she had ever imagined.

The succession had been settled. Not without arguments and disagreements. But settled. Lucerys Velaryon would be their heir.  Rhaenys felt only bitterness towards Rhaenyra, towards the boys she and Laenor had shared. The truth gnawing away at her for the first time. She loved her grandsons, and the anger she felt towards them in her mourning, made her feel guilty.

The hurt increased further when Corlys announced he was leaving. Sailing out on yet another expedition of the far east. At the time she had not had the energy to argue, the words to ask him, tell him, beg him, command him to stay. Her words had failed her. Given a second chance she would have done everything for him to stay, for them to work through their grief together.

Standing on the docks, watching The Sea Snake head towards the horizon, Rhaenys wished she could turn back time, just long enough to beg Her Mariner to stay with her, or bring her along.

Here’s a photo of me speaking my truth last September about my life before, during, and after my experience with intimate partner abuse. . I was more nervous about who would show up to interrogate me in my small hometown than actually speaking my truth. I had already received word people who were great supporters of my husband would be there. . Events like these in my hometown usually don’t go to well especially when the person that abused you are from the same area. . Nevertheless, I marched my happy hips up when it was my turn and spoke anyway. . I’ve never been more proud of myself at that moment. . Being a public speaker is one of my favorite things to do. I wasn’t comfortable with doing it for a while until I saw the opportunity to do it. So I refused to think about it and signed up anyway. . GLAD I DID! . Everything I remembered about communicating and engaging with an audience came back to me. I forgot about all that were there and went in. . There were people there who knew my husband and afterwards said they had planned to ridicule me in front of everybody after I spoke. Instead, they gave me a big hug and told me how proud they were of me. . What stopped them? . Me talking about the attributes of abuse behind closed doors and how necessary it Is for the abusers to seek professional counseling than telling my story in a way that made my husband look bad. They said it made them realize the process of what victims rationalize in their minds for safety until they are able to get away (their words). . They thanked me for helping them understand the mental capacity of both the abused and the abuser as I spoke. . I’m just glad for the opportunity to present my truth on a platform and not bash abusers but rather reach out to the supporters for both parties so that both parties can successfully heal.
