You guys know how Persephone got ‘kidnapped’ (taking this from the SFS canon) Well in the fic I’m working on Athena was with her, specifically to make sure that Persephone was safe. Meaning she kind of witnessed the whole thing and couldn’t stop the ‘abduction’ Thena hasn’t been doing good emotionally since coming to Olympus and long story short she blames herself, gets yelled at by Demeter, and tries to run away before she gets kicked out of her home again (cough cough like she did with Pallas) Luckily Mom!Hera shows up.
All this to say I’m working on a snippet based off this concept

Very late to the party, but that MA thesis on Jonathan and Mina's gender presentation that circulated on Tumblr some time ago (Jonathan, Mina, and the Holiest Love: Intimations of a virtuous queerness in Dracula (1897) by Viktor Karlsen Hessen) really is so, so good. From a deep dive into Jonathan as a Gothic heroine, complete with step-by-step comparisons with an actual Ann Radcliffe's heroine as well as the other female characters he's paralleled with in the text - Scheherazade and Lenore - to an exploration of how Mina's masculine traits are treated as positive throughout the novel and survive into the ending. Also, the author is very careful and rational when talking about Stoker's personal views and sexuality, neither jumping to conclusions based on a few facts nor disregarding those facts at all.
Also, there's a section comparing Mina to other female characters in Gothic literature who do not act in accordance with the Victorian gender norms but are punished for that - Helen Vaughan from The Great God Pan and Marjorie Lindon from The Beetle, and I personally am 1) always there for some The Great God Pan talk, 2) always there for dragging The Beetle.

surely someone must have written about dionysus' absence from the iliad. i've been looking but i haven't found a word about it. like where is he. why doesn't he take part, or have his absence explained (no "away feasting with the aethiopians" or anything).
he's mentioned twice in passing, but both references call back to when he was a baby. is he still a baby in the iliad? does the iliad represent some kind of pre-panhellenic-dionysus tradition, and are the brief acknowledgements later additions? is he too gassed from the theban wars to bother with another? someone tell meee
like i can't be the first person in history to be weirdly preoccupied with who isn't in the iliad, surely

I kind of feel like the Demeter cabin kids must low key HATE Persephone.
Imagine that one of the most popular, well-taught Greek myths of all time is about how your mother's love and grief for your sister was so overpowering it literally created the seasons.
And then here you and your mortal siblings are, dying on a quest, or against the armies of Kronos, or in the hands of Gaia, or fighting an undead Roman Emperor, and your mother doesn't even spare you a conversation.
You and your siblings, despite your perceived weakness, show up to fight the armies of Kronos, to stop the thrones of the Gods from being overturned. Your siblings and friends are bleeding or dying.
And your mother takes her favorite daughter and hides in the underworld.
Demeter 's love for Persephone brought winter upon the world. Her love for you does nothing.

They grow up so fast.
Rhea's and Cronos's kids. Yes, all together for one pic. No, they didn't fight, I didn't bribe them, no one was hurt this was a peaceful affair I am totally fine and I totally did not stitch single portraits together because it was less of a hassle.
Oh, a few of them transitioned their appearance growing up. They have their reasons.
👀 Detail below from left to right (with a few shoutouts) 👀
Poseidon Enosichthon (Enesidaone) Themeliouchos — The pale, lively kid with the always busy hands. What happened to him? A younger brother and his detached father, basically. He's excited about life in general, but still very bad at saying no to his family (or anything else), so he'll end up doing everything at once and trouble always finds him. Being the middle kid ain't always easy.
Big shoutout to @rin-sith for the huge inspiration her Poseidon design was for his clothes and armour pieces. My Poseidon doesn't believe in clothes, usually.
Demeter Sito Thesmophorus — Though she isn't technically the big sister, she always took to the task of keeping her arms open for her siblings, no matter the grief it brought her. Always will she be singing songs, in part to forget the lot bestowed on her by her brothers and her father and keep on – but also in part to give the joys of life to gods and mortals who walk her realm and feel at ease with her. As Rhea's kid she'll uphold tradition gently and firmly, and feed everyone who comes to her table, even if it costs her.
Hestia — She might be gentle, but she can never be forgotten. To all that come to her hearth she will listen and grant them protection, even if this sacred solemnity cost her the arms of a lover. She is a lover to none, and loved by all, first she receives sacrifice. Herons gave her their wings to stoke flame, brush out cold cinders. She would rather her skin be stained white by flour than black by soot, though. Her baking is still the very best.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Zeus Olympios Panhellenios — Wide are the shoulders of this son of titans, and they carry burdens of judgement across all Greece. Over the years he aquired a thick skin on them, but never do the troubles of his family wear him down for long, although the same family has brought him to the brink of constant paranoia. The jewellery he chose to wear on the day Typhon cleared out Olympus is something he will never again take off, like the memory and fear of defeat it is part of him, conductor to lightning and passion.
A big grateful nod to @justcommander for the long and wonderful talks about Typhon, he is part of all my thoughts about Zeus now.
Hera Syzygia Alexandros — The sharp eyes of this queen of queens will trace you through darkest night. By her fathers sickle and her great veil she safeguards and upholds sacred laws and traditions and unions, and as protector of men her word triumphs. A guardian of women, she neither tolerates betrayal nor does she hold the cutting edge of her jealousy back for the sake of those who must obey discriminating law against those who the same law allows to overstep a hallowed bond of two. The shade of Baphomet suits you, honey.
Hades — In form and might and character he outgrew his father by far. He is still the same quiet and thoughtful person, but despite the darkness, he, too, is a guardian of life, a keeper of flames. In his gentle hand rests the light of life, on his other arm coils the means to give it, to take it away. Fiercely he rules over the line between realms, allowing hardly any crossing, but on a late summers evening he'll walk the golden shaded groves among the company of all flowers of the earth, too.
See, lovely @ruthlessness69 , how confident he has grown? The kindness of your Hades helped him. A lot! Ask Persephone, though, she'll tell you that he can solve his beloved crosswords without extra light, because he is still a big glowing kid in his heart.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
All designs by me. Rhea's aspects come with a broader frame, more pronounced colours and animal traits, and no fear to show skin. Cronos shows in matters of lines, contrast and temper, and a certain tendency towards introversion.
So, what do you think? Next level eldritch? 🖤

Artemis - Day 183
Race: Megami Arcana: Moon Alignment: Light-Neutral June 11th, 2025 Happy pri-demon-th!
Tumblr media
As a society that valued strength and masculinity, the Greeks had a very different view of homosexuality than us today, something I've already gone over in the Apollo analysis. And yeah, expect for this to be repeated a lot in the coming weeks, as there's not many queer demons in the series outside of Greek ones- whether it be because I've already covered them, or they're just not included in the series due to being relatively obscure. However, in spite of just how gay ancient Greece was, there was one goddess who stood above the rest and said no. In fact, she said no to any romantic or sexual feelings, and that goddess is, funny enough, Apollo's sister. Twins can tend to be opposites, I suppose, as the fruitiest man in Greek myth is a direct twin to the complete opposite: Artemis, who is today's Demon of the Day.
Artemis, as one of the most popular and famous goddesses of the Greek pantheon, has a lot of stories to her name. Not only was she popular in the average populace, she was also the favorite deity to the rural population of Greece, and where she stood was a very important role: a huntress. Her birth story ran parallel to Apollo's, as, as soon as she was born, she helped Leto give birth to Apollo as a midwife, giving her the role as a goddess of childbirth; ironic, given that one of her most iconic traits is her virgin status.
As Apollo took up the mantle of the sun, Artemis took up the mantle of the moon, and this duality can be seen in many aspects between the two; while Apollo would happily flirt with anyone who breathed, Artemis was the complete opposite. In one of her most famous tales, the minor Demigod Actaeon ended up seeing her bathing (or was boasting that his hunting skills surpassed hers, it depends on the version) and, as a punishment, she turned him into a stag and had his own hunting dogs descend upon him and rip him apart limb from limb. Gnarly, but honestly? Also very slay. Literally.
Her disinterest in sex, being the goddess of chastity, and her strength made her a very popular figure for the women of ancient Greece, and she honestly still kicks ass- she's explicitly the opposite of a traditional woman, residing within and representing the wild, and no stories truly point to her having any romantic feelings for anyone. Even the tale of Orion, the story of the 'only man she ever loved,' is not explicitly romantic in most original tellings- of course, it changes as time goes on, as all myths do, but in most depictions, Orion forced himself onto Artemis (or one of her hunters) and was executed as a result. In one of the only concrete primary sources we have on the story, the Hymn to Artemis, it explicitly says that all who attempt to woo her will end up dead.
Even her hunters themselves were all female, save for Orion, which predictably ended poorly. One such member of her hunters, Callisto, had been sexually assaulted by Zeus- who actually took on the form of Artemis- and in revenge, Artemis made her take on the form of a bear.
Artemis's asexuality, of course, isn't a set-in-stone fact- she was a virgin, sure, but marriage during that time was an implicitly submissive affair, and it's entirely possible that she's simply refusing to partake in sex or marriage due to how it'd imply her own submission. However, I personally enjoy her portrayal as asexual, even if it's not entirely accurate... which is why I have to ask what the fuck they were cooking when they made both of Artemis's designs?!
I can't even show Artemis's original design, because it's so explicit that I feel like even Yamai-ifying it wouldn't make it feel less uncomfortable. If you don't know what it is, though? She's covered in tits from head to toe. Why??? I get it, she's the goddess of childbirth, and breasts are associated with motherhood- but what the fuck were they even DOING??? Why not make her look like a huntress? Let her look like she's actually got a good design instead of being covered in boobs?! Her SMT V design is a step up, but even then, it doesn't reflect her at all- it makes her look like a peppy manic pixie dream girl and not the fickle and fierce being she ACTUALLY is. These youthful features and the energy just don't fit! I like the way her gauntlets are bows, I guess, but that's about it- everything else just isn't Artemis.
And don't even get me started on her Persona design.
Tumblr media
What even is this? Why does she have plastic cups over her boobs and crotch? Why is she so explicitly sexualized when she's literally one of the most famously NON-SEXUAL FIGURES IN A VERY SEXUAL MYTHOS????
God, whatever. SMT bungled her three times, but at least we got the best design of a very bad batch going forward, even if that design is still pretty bad.

I couldn't answer Meg's questions. Or rather, as a former god, I could think of several possible answers, but none that would make Meg feel better: Demeter was too busy watching the crop situation in Tanzania. Demeter got distracted inventing new breakfast cereals. Demeter forgot you existed.

Me: Maybe in another universe Hermes gets to fix his relationship with Luke
Also me: ...
*looks at canon*
*Looks at my Travercy mermaid AU* (Luke fuckin dies, and he's also a mermaid)
*Looks at my mortal AU* (Luke runs away with old dude [Kronos] and later gets killed in a gang war he started)
*Looks at my War prize Connor/Toxic Malconnor AU* (same as Canon, only Luke is NOT getting Elysium, sir you sold your little brother to get Malcolm on your side)
*Looks at my War prize Luke AU* (Luke lives this time but Thalia aint giving him to Hermes [tho he's at least treated well, unlike Connor in the above AU])
*Looks at my dark gods AU* (Luke's death causes Hermes to go insane and ruin his relationship with all his kids)
...Never mind, its not meant to be

How to Find a Faith (a devotional poem)
How do you find a faith
When that faith does not want to be found?
When pleas and cries are cast upon the ear
Of a God that does not answer?
Can it be found in the murmured prayers of mealtime?
Or the ornate hearts of churches?
Does it come in darkness?
When there is nothing to disturb pious connection?
Or does it come in light?
When you stand before those that demand faith of you
And vomit forth words and teachings that have never touched your soul?
Is faith found in pain?
When you are beaten and bloodied
In the name of the God that never answered you
Is it found in guilt?
When you sob and wonder if your own self is so tainted
So vile and unwanted
That not even the epitome of forgiveness will touch you?
The truth is much kinder
Simpler and loving and long-sought
Faith cannot be found
Rather, it finds you
Faith moves softly at first
Its approach gentle and quiet
The kiss of sunlight on your cheeks
The vibrant hues of sunset
Dreams of laughter and light
While the salty sea licks at your skin
It comes in without a word
Until you have no choice but to look and say: “Hello.”
It may not be the God you expected
For you may not have ever been Theirs
But a hand remained on you
Guiding you to where you belonged
And when faith was found
A hand came out to greet you
Perhaps golden and radiating light
Perhaps swift and light-fingered
Perhaps loving and touched by the sea
Perhaps just and laced with thunder
Perhaps motherly and draped in peacock feathers
Perhaps strong and hardened by the wilds
Perhaps playful and intoxicating
Perhaps defensive and dipped in blood
Perhaps nimble and weaving victory
Perhaps protective and draped in nourishment
Perhaps clever and built to create
Perhaps firm and dipped in salt
Perhaps dark and a reminder of mortality
Perhaps flower-petal soft and hellfire blinding
Perhaps welcoming and warm as hearthfire
It reached for you kindly
And embraced you
Warm and kind and loving
You cannot force faith
For it will not come
Instead you wait
Until you find that which speaks to you
And you learn you are not alone
That someone is listening for you
And has their arms open
Waiting for you to come home.

Thought too long about Hermoine daughter of Meneleus and Helen and got sad
#wren rambles#greek mythology#the iliad#the odyssey#i am actually not 100% sure what stories shes in#but i got interested at her mention in the odyssey and then read her wiki page#girl lost BOTH her parents for 17 years when she was 9#grew up probably raised mostly by Clyemnestra which. no one wants.#her parents finally came back from troy and their re-honeymoon in africa#and three years later shes send off to marry Neoptolemus#an agrragement her father made during the trojan war#(now marriage customs were different ans this arragement would have been normal.#and she doesnt seem to hate the idea [though her opinion isnt mentioned] so it could just be a normal marriage agreement#however it IS Neoptolemus. who is often portrayed as brutal and violent.#tho idk what hes like outside of war. anyway. happiness of the marruage aside#its probably a shock to be Nine Years Old and then when youre solidly in your 20s your dad comes back abd is like MARRIAGE TIME)#and THEN Orestes and Neoptolemus fight over her and she marries Orestes (her cousin. but again. ancient greece)#just. most of that generation of kids lost only their father#some perminantly#telemachus for 20 years#most for at least ten years#but Heromine lost BOTH her parents#lost the relationship with her MOTHER which the vibe i get was SUPER valuble#(if Demeter's attitude is anything to go by and the cultural vibe of mother-daughter relationship)#helen even did cite that she was a foolish creature for leaving her husband and beloved daughter#ALSO Hermione not having any full siblings means something to me#idk just. Helen's only daughter. left behind.#Helen's only CHILD left behind

Before I start, if you are a pro Demeter person who thinks she did nothing, you should probably avoid this post. This post also mentions sa.
Any time someone says that depicting Demeter as an overbearing mother is “modern and misogynistic” I have an urge to turn around and say you can’t depict Zeus as a rapist. Zeus being a rapist man whore is a more modern depiction of the guy. By the logic of the day these stories were written, it was expected for Zeus to “seek pleasure” outside of marriage. So you can’t say one “modern” depiction is bad and go all out and endorse another. Yeah, I like to depict Zeus as being awful, but I don’t go out and condemn anyone who sees Demeter as a bad mother. Also like to point out that Demeter still killed many innocent mortals who had nothing to do with what happened to Persephone.

Can we get to know a bit more about the teachers in the college AU? (+ Zeus)
Sure!
I don't have the exact subjects their going to teach but I have outlines.
Posidian: Earth and Marine Sciences, Marine Biology, or Meteorology
Hera: Family Life Education, Marriage 101, or Education Law
Hades: Thanatology, or Zoology
Demeter: Botany, Ecology, or Child and adolescent studies
Hestia: Backpacking, Human development and family studies, or Home economics
I'll probably change them around, but overall this is what I have some changed or edited. All the subjects they teach are based off of their domains.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Zeus is the type of principle to walk around the campus/classrooms and interact with the students(not in a bad way)He also will sometimes flirt with Hera while she's on break.
He used to be a physics, math, or Political science teacher before the old principle(Kronos) had to retire.
He sometimes will do the activities with the students or just sit in the back and judge the teacher on how they teach.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Thank you for the ask! :)
