Optional Mods and Custom Portrait Guide
Essential Mods (I feel) are here
These are mods that add to the game but aren't essential for your playthrough. Feel free to pick and choose as you wish but this is just what I use.
Homeworlds of the Expanse
Expands to the list of homeworlds and gives perk to each choice depending on the manuals.
Better Type Sorting
Sorts by not only the spec but also the type of article it is. Really helps keep the inventory more organized.
ReDress
Allows you to change your characters appearance by adding and removing pieces of articles. Adds more hairs to the menu and also allows you to edit your character wherever.
Enhanced Graphics (DLSS Upscaling)
Upscales graphics. I don't feel the base graphics are that bad so that's why it's down here. Also only works with Nvidia cards.
Bi Heinrix Pronouns Fix
This is just a personal choice so down here. But fixes the pronouns for Heinrix's romance if you romance him as a male. DOES NOT ADD A BI ROMANCE FOR HEINRIX, YOU NEED TOY BOX FOR THAT.
Commorragh Cure
Enough said, if you haven't played to there yet trust me it'll really irritate you if you don't have this.
Allow Modded Achievements
This can be fixes with Toy Box if you remember to select the option but if you're particularly anxious and just want to make sure. Here is a mod for it.
Installing Custom Portraits
I'm not linking to any custom portraits, i feel like you can find those yourself due to your own taste but here's a guide on how to install.
Make sure you have run the game at least one and then go into your Appdata folder, this is usually in your main hard drive if you have multiple.
C:\Users\(your computer name here)\AppData\LocalLow\Owlcat Games\Warhammer 40000 Rogue Trader
If you cannot see your Appdata folder make sure you have hidden items set to visible. Look at the top of the file explorer box and click view then check off hidden items.
Create a folder called Portraits in the Rogue Trader Folder and then drag the custom folder into the Portraits Folder. Each custom portrait is in a singular folder - if you use a mod do not have it in the main folder, drag the singular folders into the main - with three png files inside.
You can also make your own custom portait in game. You need a folder with the picture cropped at varying sizes. "Fulllength" at 692x1024 pixels, "Medium" at 330x432, and "Small" at 180x242. These are for the varying usages of the portait and name each resolution as such
Here is a website to help crop if you don't wish to do manually.
And a program as well.

I started writing "4 srs" this month and I like how free and accessible writing is, so I'm recommending free software I've experimented with that might help people who want to get into the hobby!
“Specifically Created for Writing Stories”
-------------------------------
Manuskript – Story organizer / word processor. Has an outliner and index card function, along with distraction free mode. Lets you switch between different templates such as a non-fiction mode or a short story.
Bibisco – Novel writing software that includes writing goals, world-building, distraction free mode, and a timeline.
“I Just Want to Write”
---------------------------
LibreOffice – Microsoft 365 alternative, but free! LibreOffice Writer is what I wrote this tumblr post in before I posted it. Also if you copy & paste the text into the Rich Text Editor on AO3, it seems that it actually converts it properly. Nice! No need for scripts.
Note-Taking
-------------------------------
Zim Wiki - note taking application that is very, very lightweight (1.1mb). It functions with a tree structure, so I’d personally recommend it for world-building and character bios. There are built-in plugins that also turn it into a good software for task management (it even has a article on how to use it for GTD) and journalling. See also: CherryTree (2mb), which is a more outdated-looking app, but functions similarly.
Obsidian MD – The Big Boy. markdown note editor that has been adopted by personal knowledge management fans---if it doesn’t do something you want it to do, just look in the community plugins to see if someone has already done it. Some unique non-word processing related usages I’ve found is the ability to create a table of contents dashboard, a image gallery for images, embedding youtube videos and timestamping notes, so forth.
Logseq – A bullet point based markdown note editor that also has PDF annotations, Zotero integration, flashcard creation, and whiteboards. Best used for outlining projects due to the bullet point structure.
Joplin – A modern app comparable to Zim Wiki, it’s basically just a note-taking software that uses folders and tags to sort easier. Looks prettier than Zim Wiki and Cherry Tree
Notion – An online-only website that allows usage of different database types. Free for personal use. Note: I dislike the AI updates that have been making the app lag more. I prefer the others on this list.
Mind Maps
-------------------------------
Freeplane – So much goddamn features, including a ton of add-ons. Looks somewhat ugly, but it works for anyone willing to spend a while learning how to use it.
Mermaid – Text-based diagram creator. Can be used in apps like Joplin, Notion, and Obsidian.
Obsidian’s Canvas – A core plugin for Obsidian, it deserves its own mention in that it allows you to create embedded notes of the mindmap nodes. Thus, if you want to create a 20-page long note and have it minimized to the size of a penny on the mindmap, you could.
Other Things That Might Be Of Interest
Syncthing - A free software that allows you to sync between two or more computers. Have a desktop but also laze around on a laptop in bed, coming up with ideas?? This is your buddy if you don't want to use a online software.

Chalice - 24 - He/him
Roleplay/Ask blog for "victim." from Animator vs Animation. 18+ only.
Rules: I block minors/ageless accs, I do ask karma, no racism/transphobia/proshipping/weird shit obviously. I tend to block extremely easily it isn't a judgement.
Content warnings: kidnapping, torture, abuse, drug use and self harm. the thing is, this series is goofy while balancing these topics. It's a cartoon! It's not that serious, but the warning is still applicable. Just remember, these guys are just stick figures on a screen. Specifically made to beat each other up. Lets get looneytunes with it.
The 🕷 tag is for when The Dark Lord is in control of victims body.
this blog is connected to @forchosen @purplestickman @mellowroach @creeperirl @blooscadoo and @fewmoreseconds
Plot and character information underneath:
Vic, or more specifically "victim." is a sentient piece of vent art from the series Animator vs. Animation, he exists within a universe where art is sentient and alive as a sort of computer program or shimeji. After experiencing a mass deletion of his and many other sources of art he was close to, he has decided to avenge his wife and biggest supporter, Mitsi- and frankly himself- by targeting @forchosen, a stick figure who was responsible for the deletion, and using her both as a way to get vengeance as well as using her to track down his creator "Noogai" (Alan Becker/The Cursor) to take down once and for all. The plot is entirely contained within a fictional canon, and the characters themselves are all exclusively held within the internet. F2F likely won't happen unless vic visits them on their computer screen, or your character is able to enter the internet somehow!
victim. is the current (new) CEO and founder of "Rocket Corp." a tech corporation that has a vicegrip on all of stick city, which is the canon Vic has escaped to after forcefully breaking out of Noogai's desktop. He lives with his bodyguard (Agent "Cool GUI") of nearly eleven years, and the two of them are almost always seen with each other, there's no separating these two. Vic has very strong manipulation skills when it comes to the fabric of his animated reality, due to stealing his animators program tools before escaping. He has entrusted Agent GUI to take these and use them to his desire, trusting Agents choices when it comes to protecting him more than anything. The two of them have spent the last seven years hunting down @forchosen and have only recently imprisoned her, and the rest of the stick figures she brought with her. Victim has currently been using her as a stressball.
Despite all of this, Victim isn't anyone you should really be all that scared of. While he can be a hardass and extremely unwell at times, Noogai and his creations are Victims only target. Vic's body is coded to be explicitly weaker than most other stick figures, unable to withstand most violence that they are coded to withstand and even enjoy/seek out as a "species." Any of his aggression typically comes from the fact that he very well cannot protect himself, or at least, doesn't believe he can due to his experiences with Noogai. Despite losing Mitsi, he still isn't exactly interested in hurting or attacking anyone who isn't connected to Noogai. He has just developed extremely, extremely strong horse blinders to the world around him, and due to his the abuse he was put through in his earlier years of existence, he already had a lot of screws loose. Mitsi's death was just the final thing to knock him off his rocker for good.
Vic uses he/him pronouns only, and only masculine terms, but doesn't identify as a man or male. They just happened to be what he was called in comparison to Mitsi and he has no desire to change those things. Mentally, he is somewhere maturity level around his early thirties, but due to his jaded and awkward behaviors many people assume he's older than he actually is. He is unaware that he has DID, this will become more important later. Rocket Corp. is currently solely focused on hiring more soldiers and more employees, increasing profit margins with a specific goal to kill Noogai. This is seen as an extremely fringe belief/target, and Victim in his universe is regarded as an unwell and deeply traumatized religious nut or worse, actively a part of The Great Disappearance.
Due to Victims circumstances and breaking through the confines of "canon" while escaping from Noogai's desktop, his crash landing in the Shepherds Canon left him with quite a reputation. Like a fallen angel, he crashed down from space-heaven with the ability to create out of thin air, able to make a whole windmill out of nothing due to the adobe powers he had stolen from Noogai. This had created quite the image for him and Mitsi, a somewhat otherworldly and angelic pairing that broke down from the sky and started fixing everyone's tangible issues with very little expectations for anything in return. They were both immediately welcomed in to the farm town that surrounded the shepherds land, and immediately they were made at home. After The Great Disappearance, this left a sour taste in the people of Stick Cities mouth. No longer did Victim seem like this harmless blessing but an easy target to point fingers at for the terrorist attack- especially due to the fact that he looked eerily like the attacker. He was grey, and she was black, and those were the only differences. Victim was also the stick to invent the idea of color bucketing people- changing their color at will. He became a conduit for sticks who wanted someone easy to blame, and that only pushed him further into his paranoid delusions. Through this, and his own increasingly hostile behavior, Vic lost almost everyone who had taken him in, other than Agent.
Victim currently has his eyes on "The Dark Lord", a stick he hasn't seen before that he has only parsed through The Chosen Ones vague memories. This devilish figure has caught his attention in a way he hasn't been able to let go of, projecting himself- and a little bit of Mitsi onto what he's seen in Chosens memories, she's left a massive impact on Vic. He plans to do something about it.

BLOODY ROAR FANZINE 🐺 IC SURVEY RESULTS
Thank you everyone who answered our survey, shared the interest check across social media, and lended a direct hand toward making this project a reality!
We had 41 submissions and received an overwhelmingly positive response, not only in seeing this zine become a reality, but also contributing to its creation!
"On a scale of 1 to 5, how interested are you in a Bloody Roar zine?"
33 (80.5%) answered 5 - EXTREMELY Interested
Based on this turnout, we will be moving swiftly forward into the next phase of production. Thank you so much for your support!!
Please read below the cut for a detailed breakdown of the results and an important community message.
PROJECT INTERESTS
“How would you like to participate in this zine’s creation?”
Responders could pick multiple answers:
31 want to contribute as an artist
21 want to help support the zine
9 want to contribute as a writer
8 want to contribute through merch
5 want to help the zine as a moderator
2 want to contribute other media
As this will be a free zine available to everyone upon completion, those who wish to support our project are encouraged to share posts about it across social media, directly with friends, and others in the community. We have platforms for promotion on Tumblr, X/Twitter, BlueSky, Instagram, and more recently on Reddit. If you find our coverage is lacking, please feel free to make posts of your own!
With regard to mod interest, we had a few professionals offer their services to make this zine happen; from the bottom of our hearts, thank you. And keep an eye out, because mod applications will be our next major order of business in the near future.
Of those wanting to contribute art:
Responders could pick multiple answers:
29 want to draw page illustrations
12 want to draw spot art
10 want to draw comics
9 want to make or help with merch
From the digital merch options we suggested, all were in high demand:
Responders could pick multiple answers:
25 want wallpapers (mobile/desktop)
24 want printables (bookmarks, etc)
23 want avatars/icons for social media
19 want emotes for chat platforms
Suffice to say, we’ll be pursuing all of the above options.
“What part of the world do you currently live in?”
North America - 29 (79.7%)
Asia - 5 (12.2%)
Europe - 3 (7.3%)
South America - 2 (4.9%)
Southeast Asia - 1 (2.4%)
Oceania - 1 (2.4%)
We’re thrilled to see Bloody Roar’s global impact reinforced in our survey results!
As stated in our FAQ, this is an ESL-friendly zine that will be coordinated and published in English. Our hope is that those who wish to participate will be able to do so from anywhere in the world without language as a barrier. Likewise, we welcome any fluent volunteers who would like to assist with translation into other languages.
Rest assured, we will do all that we can to accommodate anyone who expresses interest in this project, so please don’t hesitate to reach out!
“What’s your general age range?”
Teens to 20s - 5 (12.2%)
20s to 40s - 34 (82.9%)
40+ - 2 (4.9%)
On the matter of moderation, it was a decision from the beginning that all mods will be required to be 21+ at the time they apply for project security. We also asked how everyone would feel if we allowed contributors to be 16+ since the zine will be PG-16 in terms of content and a SFW project.
The vast majority (36 out of 41) said they were fine with 16+ contributors, while 5 said they would prefer all contributors be 18+.
Considering the response, we currently plan to allow contributors aged 16+ at the time of application. However, we take internet safety very seriously so if you have lingering concerns on this matter and want to make sure your reasons are heard, please email us so we can better understand your position and prepare accordingly.
When we asked what else people might want to see contributed, it became clear that many had big ideas! This enthusiasm was wonderful to witness, and we'd like to take a moment to address those ideas real quick.
This was a free response question:
16 requested the inclusion of Cosplay
14 requested rips of 3D models and instructions for rigging
11 requested to hear fan made music, original or remixed
9 requested to read interviews and instructional guides
5 requested more video coverage on the series
5 requested game mods/hacks or fan made games
3 requested more translations of unlocalized material
2 requested access to 3D printing files for character models
2 requested news about upcoming tournaments (online/offline)
While we would love to see more mixed media from Bloody Roar fans, our survey showed a clear trend of people primarily hoping to contribute visual art and writing.
Though we plan to stay in line with these preferences and keep this zine’s scope fairly traditional, these answers prove there is still a powerful interest in the series and we hope that these results can inspire ideas for future fan projects!
Our survey only reached a handful of the entire Bloody Roar fanbase, so we expect that this level of interest only represents a small fraction of everyone’s collective passion for the series all across the world.
That's what makes the following data so crucial:
“Are you familiar with the Bloody Roar series?”
Responders could pick one answer that best described them:
14 Play regularly and want the series to make a comeback
12 Are currently active making art, writing stories, and more
8 Played while they were young and the series stuck with them
4 Know of or became curious because of friends, but never played
3 Either found the series recently or identify as semi-active
“Tell us about your experience with the series and what you like about it!”
This was a free answer to an optional question, so not everyone responded, but of those who did, a very particular pattern emerged ― not concerning what people enjoyed about the series itself, but how they came to discover its existence.
Almost everyone said they learned about Bloody Roar through word of mouth.
Some were told about it by friends, others were shown it by a member of their family. When they weren’t introduced to it by a person, they found BR on their own by way of demo discs, used game stores, and YouTube recommendations from similar topics.
This may have been the most important question on this survey for the community.
We cannot sit on our hands hoping that other people remember Bloody Roar enough to mention it before we start talking about it ourselves. We cannot passively wait for a corporation to do something with this beloved series just to include it in conversation. If we want to see anything done, we have to do it ourselves ― and that’s what this project is all about.
This zine is a celebration of our existing interest, yes, but it will also serve as a beacon. It’s a way to keep talking about a series that deserves more attention; it’s an eye catch; it’s inspiration.
Everyone who is passionate about this series, this is a call to action:
If you want to see a tournament, online or offline, organize that tournament; if you want to make a fan comic, make that fan comic; if you want to do a series rewrite, do that series rewrite; if you want to see something, read something, play something, but don’t feel like you have the tools or capability, then organize with or commission others who would be thrilled to make it happen.
Don’t let fear or embarrassment stop you from pursuing something that would make you happy. Let this initiative inspire you! Start drawing, start writing, start programming ― even if you don’t feel like you’re capable of those things. Practice drawing by looking at the series’ art, do studies of beast forms, open a word document and write your thoughts down no matter how disjointed, and you’ll see how quickly you improve just by letting your interest fuel you.
Whatever you do, don’t wait for someone else to make the first move.
An incredible number of individuals make posts wondering if anyone remembers Bloody Roar, and far too few stick around to have a conversation afterwards. You have to earnestly share your interest, talk openly about it, or nothing will change.
We do remember Bloody Roar. We’re here, and if this survey proves anything it’s that we’re all crying out for a greater sense of community. So let’s use this opportunity; let’s take the initiative, shake off whatever’s stopping us from creating, and pay homage to this series that is so near and dear to us!
“No matter how small and niche and insignificant something might seem, the very act of researching, or spending time with, or caring for it imbues it with meaning. To you, and to the people you share it with.” ― Brian David Gilbert
FAN FAVORITES
Because the creative end of the fanbase is generally split apart without a centralized platform to find and share their work with others, we felt it was important to remind people and better understand why we remember this series so fondly.
“What’s your favorite Bloody Roar game?”
This was an optional question that 40/41 participants responded to:
20 said Bloody Roar 2 was their favorite
11 said Primal Fury/Extreme was their favorite
4 said Bloody Roar 3 was their favorite
3 said Bloody Roar 1 was their favorite
2 said Bloody Roar 4 was their favorite
Bloody Roar 2 stuck in people's minds by a landslide, so we'll be basing our zine's graphics and visual design off of BR2 to ensure it feels recognizable at a glance.
“What is your favorite animal?”
This was a completely optional question left at the end of the survey:
13 said wolves or foxes
10 said big cats, especially tigers
7 said rabbits
Other responses included dogs, bats, crows, octopi, hyenas, stoats, and cockroaches.
Hopefully it was fun to think about in this context. Maybe next time people can consider what their beast form would be if they were a zoanthrope!
“Who are your favorite characters in Bloody Roar?”
Responders could pick multiple answers:
#1 Shina (Marvel) the Leopard - 24 (58.5%)
#2 Shenlong the Tiger - 19 (46.3%)
#3 Uriko the Cat/Half Beast - 18 (43.9%)
#4 Yugo the Wolf & Long the Tiger - 17 (41.5%)
#5 Jenny the Bat - 16 (39%)
#6 Alice the Rabbit - 15 (36.6%)
#7 Bakuryu the Mole - 14 (34.1%)
#8 Hans the Fox - 13 (31.7%)
#9 Gado the Lion & Stun the Insect - 12 (29.3%)
#10 Busuzima the Chameleon - 8 (19.5%)
There were some close calls as votes came in, but here are the runner ups:
#11 Mitsuko the Boar & Xion the Unborn - 7 (17.1%)
#12 Reiji the Crow - 5 (12.2%)
#13 Cronos the Penguin/Phoenix & Uranus the Chimera - 4 (9.8%)
#14 Kohryu the Iron Mole & Mana the Ninetails - 3 (7.3%)
#15 Nagi the Spurious & Greg the Gorilla - 2 (4.9%)
No one said Ryoho the Dragon was their favorite.
This gave us an idea of which characters still stick in the minds of fans so many years since the last game’s release. It also gives us a sense of which characters are most desired to be seen and who will most likely be receiving more focus in the project.
“What do you like about those characters?”
This was an optional free response question. As expected, quite a lot of appreciation was granted to gameplay and how stylish the designs were, but the most common praise was given to each of the characters’ memorable personalities, backstories, and dynamics with each other.
Bloody Roar’s story has won out through this survey time and again, which is precisely the part that's become increasingly neglected as the years wear on.
For the last decade or more, outside of the FGC scene, it’s kind of been a free for all, “every man for himself” situation when it comes to Bloody Roar. This survey has proven that the story focused fans should be embraced to have a thriving community.
FUTURE BLOODY ROAR FAN PROJECTS
We got LOADS of interest in projects beyond this singular zine, which is very exciting! These will not happen until after this particular project is completed, but rest assured your interest is noted and we will do our best to pursue them one step at a time.
“What future Bloody Roar fan projects would you be interested in seeing?”
Responders could pick multiple answers:
33 want to see more free digital zines like this one
31 want to see the production of physical fan merch
29 want to see the production of limited run physical zines
26 want to see Bloody Roar themed artwork collabs/exchanges
25 want to see digital zines for purchase (artist profit or charity)
22 want to see the preservation and translation of official BR media
17 want to participate in a fandom discord server (story/lore focus)
16 want to see Bloody Roar themed writing collabs/exchanges
One person also wrote that they wanted to see Bloody Roar themed mods for different games, like Bomberman or other Hudson properties.
“What themes would you want to see from future Bloody Roar zines?”
This was an optional free response question:
12 want to see a zine focused on fashion (street, formal, etc)
10 want to see a zine focused on animals and beast forms
9 want to see a zine focused on lore, story, and characters
9 want to see a zine focused on characters in slice of life scenarios
8 want to see a zine focused on the players and BR's legacy
8 want to see a zine focused on fighting styles and move analysis
7 want to see a zine focused on flowers and flower language
5 want to see a zine focused on Bloody Roar OCs or Crossovers
3 want to see a zine focused on the horror and dark themes in BR
2 want to see a zine focused on romance, including OCxCanon
1 wants to see a zine focused on the villains of Bloody Roar
Additionally, 6 people said they would be happy to see anything BR related at all.
These suggestions were a joy to see! We'll never run out of ideas or motivation thanks to everyone's inspiring interests.
Please know that the invitation is completely open for anyone to spearhead their own similar projects. We don't have the market cornered on this, and we all win when there’s more Bloody Roar-related creativity shared with the world.
And that wraps up our Interest Check #1 results! Thank you for reading this far.
We'll be running a second interest check alongside our upcoming mod apps in order to finalize many of the details from information we collected in this survey. Thank you so much for your interest and support - and if you didn't get a chance to respond to this first survey, then the second one will be your next chance!
Those looking forward to contributor apps, your patience will be rewarded. For now, take a look at our Carrd for a tentative breakdown of our zine's submission and portfolio guidelines so you can prepare.
Thank you @donotwander for drawing half of the favorite character chibis with @five5sixers, @banchou for the cute favorite animal art, and @3V4C for helping out with the graphs on Canva.

Creation Date and Domain Purchase
An essential factor when evaluating the legitimacy of any online broker is the relationship between the creation date of the brand and the domain purchase date. In the case of Solarystone.com review, the domain was purchased on November 11, 2021, which is in line with the brand’s establishment date.
This means the broker has ensured that the domain was registered at or around the same time as the brand was officially created, which is a key indicator of its authenticity. If the domain was purchased before the brand's inception, that could raise questions about the legitimacy of the operation. However, in this case, everything aligns perfectly.
License and Regulation
When it comes to assessing the legitimacy of a broker, the type and authority of the license it holds is a crucial factor. Solarystone.com reviews holds a High Authority license, which is one of the most significant markers of reliability and trustworthiness in the financial services industry.
This type of license indicates that the broker is subjected to strict regulations by a recognized authority. Licensed brokers are required to meet high standards of conduct, which include transparency, security of client funds, and adherence to industry best practices. Brokers with this level of regulation are typically included in lists of legal and trustworthy brokers, ensuring that they operate within the boundaries of the law.
This is a clear sign that Solarystone takes compliance seriously and operates under a recognized and respected financial authority. This looks like a strong argument for its legitimacy, and it’s an essential factor when considering whether to trust a broker with your funds. It offers confidence that your trading activities are protected and regulated by established rules.
Trustpilot Reviews and Reputation
One of the most powerful indicators of a broker’s legitimacy is the feedback it receives from real users. Solarystone.com reviews has a solid reputation on Trustpilot, with a high average rating of 4.4 stars, based on over 2,900 reviews. This is a significant marker of trust, as it reflects positive feedback from a large number of users who have shared their experiences.
In the world of online trading, a 4.4 rating is impressive. The Trustpilot platform allows users to rate their experiences, and brokers with high ratings generally have a strong track record of customer satisfaction. Moreover, a large number of reviews—like the 2,900 reviews that Solarystone has—further enhances its credibility. The volume of positive feedback not only shows that the broker is trusted by many, but also that it has consistently met the expectations of a large user base.
Final Thoughts on Solarystone.com review
After examining all the key aspects of Solarystone.com review, it’s clear that this broker takes significant steps to establish itself as a legitimate and trustworthy platform for traders. The alignment of the domain purchase date with the brand's creation, coupled with a High Authority license, speaks to its transparency and commitment to operating within the rules. Additionally, the impressive Trustpilot rating of 4.4 stars, supported by a large number of reviews, further reinforces its positive reputation among users.
Solarystone also provides multiple trading platforms, ensuring that traders can access their accounts conveniently from a web platform, tablet, or mobile app. With a wide range of payment methods, fast deposit and withdrawal times, and solid customer support, it’s easy to see why this broker is gaining popularity.

CUSTOM CARD CREATION 101
Never submitted a card before? Let's take it from the top.
If you're on desktop, the gold standard of custom card creation is Magic Set Editor. It's a highly customizable program with versatile options for all sorts of card types.
If you're unable to download MSE, there are a number of free online card making programs. They're far less versatile, but they get the job done. You can find one that works best for you.
You can always ask for help in Discord if you don't have either of these options and would like a card rendered as an image by another inventor. Or, you can always submit as text if that works best for you!
If you're submitting as text, or if you just need a general checklist of things to have before you submit, make sure your card has ALL of the following:
Appropriate/final name
Properly formatted mana cost (if applicable)
Type(s)
Rarity (THIS ONE IS THE MOST OVERLOOKED)
Rules text—no typos, modern wording
Flavor text (if applicable/if there's space)
Power/toughness, if a creature
There are a number of options for ART as well. Art is one of the most recognizable part of any MTG card. Most of us are, assumedly, not professional illustrators. So:
MTG artist Winona Nelson made this fabulous post talking about art descriptions and art direction! You can add that to your post in lieu of actual art.
When adding art descriptions with images, it's easiest for formatting to add them directly to where the art would be. Here's an example:
Or! Do you want to draw your own art? Please do so! We strongly encourage everyone at any artistic skill level to submit with their own illustrations!
Just don't forget: if you're using any kind of visual, you need to have the art properly credited—and that includes yourself.
Otherwise... It's been common practice across the custom MTG community for a while to use fantasy art from across the internet. Pragmatically, as long as it's credited, there's no monetary harm as this is a non-commercial use of art. However, reposting in general isn't exactly kosher and isn't the best practice, and many card creators have tiptoed around that line. If you're able to get permission from outside art, please do so.
Regardless of your personal stances: submissions that use uncredited art will not be accepted. Even if it's fair use, even if it's a stock photo or game asset, even if it's your own art (and we'll remind you gently about that one, a lot of folks forget lol), all art must be credited.
Fair Use/Stock photos & illustrations: Most stock images have usernames of uploaders. Always look for the OP. This includes things like Wikimedia Commons as well.
Game Assets/art: When in doubt, credit the name & developer.
AI generated art is never allowed.
If there's a corner case not included on here, just send in an ask and we can answer it.
For rules text questions, You can use Scryfall to check oracle text for proper wording and other examples of weird wording effects if necessary. This includes keyword orders, if/when clause differences, and more. "Oracle text" is the most up-to-date wording for any given card. Need an example? Check out the card Necromancy.
Flavor text is the most esoteric and hard-to-pin-down aspect of any given card. As a rule of thumb, if you have the space to add it, you should strongly consider it. A strong twist can turn a decent card into a great card.
There are quite a few different kinds of flavor text:
Twists on common phrases/sayings that relate to the card, including puns
Quotes from the characters being depicted
Quotes from other characters in the world
Snippets of story before/during/after the action of the card
When writing flavor text, consider: What does that text add to the card that the mechanics, name, and/or art aren't already telling the player? Why does it matter?
N.B.—when adding quote attribution on MSE, use shift+enter to remove the line spacing before the emdash.
Last reminder: Please do not submit Universes Beyond cards and/or silver-border/acorn cards unless a contest specifically calls for it. Unless otherwise specified/implied, assume that all contests are looking for you to design cards for standard/premier play.
Most importantly, don't forget that we're expecting a lot of you from these cards, because you're doing all parts of the process—mechanics, editing, and presentation. Polish up as much as you can. You're wearing a lot of hats here, and it's hard work! But be proud of what you make, and embrace the challenge.

How to Find Hope for Completing Your Writing Goals

Every year, we’re lucky to have great sponsors for our nonprofit events. Campfire, a 2023 NaNoWriMo sponsor, is a writing and worldbuilding platform to help you create an immersive experience benefitting both authors and readers. Today, Campfire Community Manager Emory Glass shares some words on having hope when writing feels overwhelming:
It has been 3,265 days since I won NaNoWriMo. I was 16 and wrote 75,000 words. It was exhilarating and cathartic and everything I ever dreamt of.
Tomorrow it will be 3,266 days since I won NaNoWriMo. I look back on my projects thinking, “2,500 words a day is lightspeed. The words flowed so freely then, so quickly.” I want to be a writer–I am a writer. It is my identity, my purpose, my reason, yet I cannot bring myself to finish what I have begun.
The next day it will have been 3,267 days since I won NaNoWriMo. The words do not fly from my fingertips but crawl, sapped of energy, the page a grave for ink stains posing as letters. I talk to my characters often. My writer friends tell me I speak of them as if they were real people, but I cannot seem to lift the weight of their stories from my mind. Still, I have no platform, no audience, no one eagerly watching for the next installment.
The day after it will have been 3,268 days since I won NaNoWriMo. Two publications, no published novels, hundreds of thousands of words gathering dust. I am no writer, I am a collector of words. There must be something wrong with me. I have so much to tell, so much to share, so much to create, but here I am not telling, not sharing, not creating.
One day it will have been 3,269 days since I won NaNoWriMo. I will not have published a book, I will not have a new story, I will not have an audience or a platform or one–just one–person looking forward to what happens next.
But I will not give up.
"...and if you gaze into the abyss, the abyss gazes also into you." (Friedrich Nietzsche)
It's rather typical for a dark fantasy writer to peer into the void, but it quickly becomes an intoxication and an excuse to never move a muscle. Do not succumb. Push forward, even if you barely move an inch. If you wish to be a builder, you build. If you wish to be a fighter, you fight. If you wish to be a writer, you write.
Brute force seems barbaric. Should words not spill onto the page? It is said that art cannot be coerced or bent to one's own will; it comes easily, naturally, swiftly. The very best art is created in a creative frenzy, so they say, and the very best artists are recognized in memoriam.
But if you delay and evade and wither your ambition as you count the days since your last success, your oeuvre halts and is buried and perishes by your own hand. So if you, like me, too often find yourself peering into the void where the words have gone to fade away, cleave to the remedy for its gaze: hope. This is the heart of creation. Laudation and lucrativeness are but two measures of success. They will not themselves burst a dam of words within you and imbue every project with Midas' touch. Creative fever is not catching–you must seek it out.
Give yourself a reason to write even when you do not want to or it feels too Herculean a task. If you seek new horizons, a useful tool, or a supportive community to accompany you on this odyssey, enlist Campfire to help. Whether it behooves you to squeeze out words on your mobile device, stay focused offline with a desktop application, or keep inspiration at hand via browser-based work and Discord chats, it's the best place to bring your stories to life.
NaNoWriMo participants can save on Campfire’s writing software! Use the discount code LETSGONANO23 for 30% off your first year of an annual subscription to our Standard Plan. It’s free to create an account. Offer expires March 31, 2024.

Emory Glass is an avid artist, worldbuilder, and author with a passion for strong female characters in leading roles and meticulous attention to detail in lore. She loves tea, learning Scottish Gaelic, continuing her work on The Chroma Books, a series of interconnected stories, and running Inkblood Book Company for similarly enthusiastic dark fantasy writers. When not chasing down stories, Emory works as the Community Manager at Campfire.

What is a Zine?
"Zine" (zeen) is short for magazine, and they have a rich history both inside and outside of fandom. In fandom, they are most often magazines put together by groups of fan creators over the course of many months, and published publicly for free or for purchase.

Fandom zines create some of the most beautiful art and fic - and merchandise! - you can find about the series. By virtue of how they are run, copies of the zine and the extra merch that may go with it are rare and hard to find once the event is over, making them treasures.
If you want to learn more about fandom zines and how you can find them, or participate, read on below.
What kind of events are there?
Whether zines are small or large is simply limited by imagination. Technically, a zine could be little more than a hand-written pamphlet of collages from art and words that is photocopied and distributed en masse. Most often, fandom zines are digital PDFs of curated art and writing arranged by someone with semi-professional publishing/layout experience.
Zines can be digital (PDF only), digital with digital merchandise/extras (such as bookmarks or desktop backgrounds), or physical (printed softcover books, with or without physical merchandise such as bookmarks, enamel pins, stickers, keychains, etc).
Zines can be art-only, writing-only, or a combination of the two.
Zines can be collaborative, where each artist is paired with a writing contributor and they create related works. Or, zines can simply be curated collections, where artists and writers make works that are connected only by the overarching theme of the zine.
Zines can have broad or narrow themes, ranging from a single character, a single ship, a whole class of characters, a whole region, or an abstract concept. See the bottom of this post for examples.
Zines can be profitable, where artists and writers and mods get paid a cut of the money collected in zine sales. Zines are often for charity, where creators and mods are unpaid and all profit (barring printing costs, etc.) go to a chosen charity. Zines can be free and for no reason at all.
Zines may or may not have an (unofficial) connection to the creators of the IP the zine is a fandom for - this can range from a forward written by one of the IP writers, or a print copy signed by a voice actor, etc.
Zines are often NOT annual, but rather one-time events. New zines are organized all the time under different names.
Where are events hosted?
Zines are often advertised on twitter and tumblr.
Interest checks are often run through Google Forms.
Zine creation is often coordinated via Discord servers specifically created for the event.
Zines are often sold via BigCartel, gumroad, itch.io, or another of the (many, many) e-sale sites for this purpose.
What does participation in the event look like?
▸Interest Check
A zine profile (tumblr or twitter or both) will put out a google form for anyone to fill out. These will often inquire about:
the theme of the zine, sometimes with many options/focuses
the content (would you like to see art, prose, poetry)
the extras (what kind of merch/extra content would you be interested in, besides the magazine)
the format (digital vs physical)
the cost (how much would you be willing to pay for each format/bundle)
are you interested in being a contributor/buyer
▸ Moderator Applications
Can happen simultaneously with the interest check. Usually a zine is started by an individual or small group of individuals with gumption (or experience), but they often are looking for additional:
Social Media Mod(s)
Art (Organization) Mods
Writing (Organization) Mods
Graphics Mods
Printing/Shipping Mods
Merch Mods
Editor Mods
Treasurer Mods
The form and requirements of each moderator application vary greatly depending on the person organizing the event.
▸ Contributor Applications
In addition to contact information, contributors will be asked to provide examples of their previous works as a portfolio.
Sometimes creators will be asked to provide "prompts" or "pitches" - their ideas for what their contribution may be, very specifically.
Artists
⤷ Portfolios may be looking for google drive galleries, dedicated art blogs, dedicated social media account/thread/hashtag, etc.
⤷ In addition to a portfolio, may be asked to share a few specific, additional works, that highlight their strengths/interests and what they specifically will bring to the zine.
⤷ May be asked whether applying for cover art, page art, or merch art.
⤷ Merch artists may be asked to show actual physical merch you've made before, to show you know how to get things printed.
⤷ May be asked what kind of merch you would like to make.
Writers
⤷ Longform (2500 word is usually standard) or shortform (write short fics, usually multiple up to 1000 words each)
⤷ Mods may look at your overall writing portfolio
⤷ In addition to a portfolio, may be asked to share a few writing samples with min and max word counts - excerpts that showcase writing strengths.
▸ Creation Period
Contributors will be given a date to get a final pitch approved by the mods. After they can be approved, the contributors can get started.
How many check-ins/WIPs mods require from contributors will vary from one, to many. These are collected through google forms or emailed directly to the moderators.
Typically required that contributors proof and edit their own works to the highest degree possible and deliver the level of product they promised. Betas/editors/screening may or may not be provided by volunteers.
Artists will typically be provided with a template that shows the gutter/bleeds. It will typically be specified to work in CMYK, a specific file type, and file/page size.
Contributors work on their pieces.
Merch artists tend to work most closely with the mods, compared to other contributors, throughout the production process. Merch artists usually have an expedited schedule with earlier deadlines.
Cover artists may also have an expedited schedule with earlier deadlines.
▸ Production Period
Contributors will likely be able to share snippets/previews of their work - either a cropped image, or a paragraph+ excerpt of written work - as a way of drumming up further interest for the zine's sales. Snippets may be posted to the official event socials, or contributors may post them to their own socials and get re-shared by the official event socials, depending on the organizer's preference. This may overlap with the creation period.
Works are turned in.
▸ Sales & Sharing Period
The zine is available for purchase/download/ordering.
After orders close, for physical zines, moderators will place the order for printing (and merch, if applicable).
Usually when distributing only physical zines, the orders go directly from the printer to the customer.
If physical merchandise is bundled: typically, the zines and merch are shipped to a moderator's home where they are physically bundled together, then shipped from the moderator to the customer.
There may be a period of time sales closed and shipping is concluded where any extra goods may be offered for sale again, as supplies last.
⤷ OFTEN, when physical copies are offered, contributors may be gifted physical bundles of the zines (including merch). This is not always true but often happens as thanks for contribution.
Please, be discerning.
Because the commitment is very high for zines, a lot can go wrong. In addition to the usual risk of poor communication and delays (which can happen even with the best intentions).
Moderators may or may not be reputable characters and you may run into poor communication and organization - or even theft.
Whenever money is involved, or physical shipping is offered, be very wary of giving away your personal information!!!
Zines can be organized as a way for "moderators" to get free art; if money is not handled transparently, moderators can abscond with the funds. Sometimes contributors will be told that they will be paid, but then moderators will say that you will not be paid actually.
Zines can fail for a variety of reasons and never reach the publication stage. Zines can recruit contributors with the promise of the quality of the zine production/design but fail to deliver.
While these are some of the worst-case scenarios, keep in mind that fandom zines are not professional and run by volunteers. Moderators are often the most passionate and hardest working people involved in the events, doing their absolute best based on their resources and experiences.

It enables the creation of a huge range of applications—from computing device to cellular, net, cloud, gaming, and IoT. Over the years, .NET has evolved substantially and has become one of the maximum extensively used frameworks inside the software improvement enterprise.
Dot Net Programming Language

A Brief History of .NET
The .NET Framework become first delivered through Microsoft in the early 2000s. The original cause turned into to offer a steady item-oriented programming surroundings regardless of whether code became stored and finished locally, remotely, or via the internet.
Over time, Microsoft developed .NET right into a cross-platform, open-supply framework. In 2016, Microsoft launched .NET Core, a modular, high-performance, cross-platform implementation of .NET. In 2020, the company unified all its .NET technologies beneath one umbrella with the discharge of .NET five, and later persisted with .NET 6, .NET 7, and past.
Today, the unified platform is actually called .NET, and it allows builders to build apps for Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, Android, and greater using a single codebase.
Key Features of .NET
1. Cross-Platform Development
One of the maximum tremendous features of present day .NET (publish .NET Core) is its ability to run on a couple of platforms. Developers can construct and deploy apps on Windows, Linux, and macOS with out enhancing their codebases.
2. Multiple Language Support
.NET supports numerous programming languages, together with:
C# – the maximum extensively used language in .NET development

12 Reasons Why To Choose Flutter for Your Mobile App Development
In the rapidly evolving world of mobile technology, choosing the right framework for app development can significantly impact a project's success, budget, and time-to-market.
Among the various options, Flutter, Google's open-source UI toolkit, has emerged as a formidable player, gaining immense popularity for its ability to build natively compiled applications for mobile, web, and desktop from a single codebase. For a New Jersey Mobile App Development firm or any business looking to create high-quality, efficient, and future-proof applications, Flutter presents a compelling case.
Here are 12 compelling reasons why Flutter should be your top choice for mobile app development:
1. Single Codebase, Multiple Platforms
One of Flutter's most celebrated features is its cross-platform capability. Developers can write code once and deploy it across both iOS and Android, and even web and desktop.
Benefit: This drastically reduces development time and resources, as you don't need separate teams or codebases for different platforms. It ensures consistency in look and feel across all devices, streamlining maintenance and updates.
2. Fast Development with Hot Reload/Restart
Flutter's "Hot Reload" and "Hot Restart" features are game-changers for developer productivity.
Benefit: Developers can see the immediate effect of code changes without losing the application's current state. This accelerates the development cycle, speeds up bug fixing, and facilitates rapid iteration between designers and developers.
3. Expressive and Flexible UI (Widgets)
Flutter's entire UI is built using a rich, customizable set of widgets. Unlike other frameworks that rely on native components, Flutter renders its widgets directly using its own high-performance rendering engine (Skia).
Benefit: This offers unparalleled control over the UI, enabling the creation of visually stunning, pixel-perfect, and highly customized user interfaces that look consistent across different platforms, without being constrained by native UI limitations.
4. Native-Like Performance
Despite being a cross-platform solution, Flutter apps are known for their exceptional performance, often indistinguishable from native applications.
Benefit: Flutter compiles Dart code into native ARM machine code, eliminating the need for a JavaScript bridge (common in other cross-platform frameworks). This direct compilation, combined with the Skia graphics engine, ensures smooth animations, fast startup times, and a highly responsive user experience.
5. Strong Google Support & Growing Community
As a Google-backed framework, Flutter benefits from continuous updates, extensive documentation, and a vibrant, rapidly expanding global community.
Benefit: This robust support system provides developers with a wealth of resources, tutorials, and immediate solutions to challenges. The active community contributes to a rich ecosystem of packages and plugins, further accelerating development.
6. Dart Language Simplicity
Flutter utilizes Dart, an object-oriented programming language also developed by Google. Dart is designed to be easy to learn, especially for developers familiar with languages like Java, JavaScript, or C#.
Benefit: Its straightforward syntax and powerful features, combined with ahead-of-time (AOT) and just-in-time (JIT) compilation capabilities, make development intuitive, efficient, and enable high-performance applications.
7. Reduced Code Complexity
Flutter's declarative UI approach and widget-based architecture naturally lead to cleaner, more organized, and less complex code.
Benefit: This reduces the overall lines of code needed, making the app easier to build, understand, maintain, and scale. Simplified code also means fewer bugs and a more streamlined development process.
8. Open-Source and Free
Flutter is a completely open-source framework, accessible to everyone without any licensing fees.
Benefit: This significantly reduces the cost barrier for mobile app development, making it an attractive option for startups and businesses with budget constraints. It also fosters community contributions and transparency.
9. Rich Libraries & Integrations
Flutter boasts a comprehensive array of pre-built widgets and a vast ecosystem of third-party packages and plugins available on Pub.dev.
Benefit: These ready-to-use components and integrations for features like payment gateways, analytics, and device APIs drastically reduce development time. Developers can quickly add complex functionalities without building them from scratch.
10. Consistent UI Across Platforms
Due to its own rendering engine and widget set, Flutter ensures that your app looks and feels identical across both iOS and Android devices, as well as web and desktop.
Benefit: This consistency is crucial for brand identity and user recognition. It simplifies design and testing processes, as designers and developers don't need to account for subtle differences in native components.
11. Suitable for MVP Development
Flutter's speed and efficiency make it an ideal choice for building Minimum Viable Products (MVPs).
Benefit: You can rapidly develop and deploy a core version of your app to market, gather user feedback, and validate your business idea without significant upfront investment. This "fail fast, learn fast" approach minimizes risk and accelerates market entry.
12. Future-Proof Technology
Backed by Google, Flutter is continuously evolving, with ongoing investment in new features, performance enhancements, and support for emerging platforms.
Benefit: Choosing Flutter positions your app to easily adapt to future technological shifts, from new operating system versions to entirely new device categories like foldable phones or embedded systems, ensuring your investment remains relevant and competitive. This forward-looking aspect is something many in New Jersey Mobile App Development consider vital for long-term project success.
Conclusion
Flutter offers a compelling package for mobile app development, combining speed, performance, flexibility, and cost-efficiency. Its ability to deliver beautiful, natively compiled applications from a single codebase makes it an increasingly preferred choice for businesses and developers worldwide. For those seeking to build innovative and high-quality mobile experiences efficiently, Flutter provides a robust, versatile, and future-ready solution.

Mastering Woodworking with the Router Table 4x8: Elevate Your Craft with Precision and Versatility
In the world of woodworking, achieving professional-grade results relies heavily on having the right tools at your disposal. Among these tools, the router table 4x8 stands out as an essential piece of equipment for both novice and experienced woodworkers. This article explores the features, benefits, and applications of a router table while also comparing it to the increasingly popular desktop CNC machine.
What is a Router Table 4x8?
A router table 4x8 is a large woodworking device designed to support a router, enabling it to make precise cuts and shapes in various materials. The "4x8" designation refers to the dimensions of the tabletop, providing ample space for handling large workpieces. This expansive surface allows for increased stability and control, essential for executing detailed woodworking tasks.
Benefits of Using a Router Table 4x8
Enhanced Stability and Control: The larger size of a router table provides a stable working environment, which helps minimize vibrations and errors during the routing process. This stability is particularly beneficial when working with intricate designs or larger boards.
Versatile Applications: Router tables are incredibly versatile and can perform numerous tasks, such as shaping edges, creating grooves, and making joinery cuts. With adjustable speeds and heights, you can tailor your routing operations to suit various woodworking projects.
Improved Safety: Operating a router table significantly reduces the risk of injury compared to using a handheld router. The secure positioning of the workpiece minimizes kickback and enhances user safety, allowing for a more focused and productive work environment.
Compatibility with Different Router Bits: A router table 4x8 is designed to accommodate a wide range of router bits. This flexibility enables woodworkers to explore diverse techniques and styles, facilitating the creation of unique designs and finishes.
Comparing Router Tables and Desktop CNC Machines
Both the router table 4x8 and desktop CNC machines have their merits, and understanding their differences can help you choose the right tool for your needs.
Precision and Automation
Desktop CNC machines excel in precision and automation, making them ideal for detailed and repetitive tasks. These machines use computer-controlled settings to execute intricate designs with high accuracy, which can be especially beneficial for commercial woodworking applications. However, they often require significant upfront investment and time to master the software.
