let me give context for this concept idea first (you could skip the next paragraph if you don't care, i'm just weird, i promise i start discussing the concept right after this next paragraph trust me)

i am a huge fan of this one designer in new york, bella pietro, her work is amazing. i was able to attend her bridal line debut fashion show in person this past sunday and got to speak with her very briefly. she's very lovely, relatable, super down to earth, and humble. she is also one of the influences for my own jewellery line, but this isn't the point i'm making, i'm going insanely off topic. i thought about what it would be like being a clothes designer in nyc.

donatello is the founder and ceo (at least, that's canonically what i'm led to believe) of Genius Built Technologies. it's also canon he designs Genius Built Apparel. i initially had this idea and shared it on discord a while back based around donnie being a member of a discord server with other designers. these designers usually joined said server for creativity, support, sharing each others' work, and giving critiques when wanted.

imagine you, an up-and-coming designer, join this server to gain more reach. while donnie was bored looking at others' designs and critiquing them harshly when asked to, he admired your work and advocated for you so that you could gain more popularity. the two of you accepted each other's friend requests and started talking in dms. he admired your work and thought it was cute how you were slowly rising in the industry, but you needed the right connections to actually get things going. you started getting seamstresses and a manager, but that took your time away from donnie.

donnie might have found out you lived in new york, that was when he suggested a meet-up for a collaboration. he was excited when you said yes, and a GB Apparel x For You line was in the works for when the two of you started discussing potential pieces. your crew got a little upset when you put all your attention on the collaborative project, especially your manager, and they thought it was a bad idea. you thought about listening to them and backing away to work on the collab line in the future. donnie... didn't really like that.

besides, donatello had been a big help, he lent you his sewing machines that literally sewed by themselves. your own fall line had been presented on a runway at a moderately sized venue, a team curated by donatello organised it as if he were your manager. everyone on the server the two of you met on barely showed their support at first, until you got incoming praises and compliments from everyone after donatello's worship of you was sent in the runway channel. you were unaware to the fact that donatello threatened everyone with their careers if they didn't support you.

everyone seemed beginning to dislike you, your fans acknowledged that it didn't seem to be you at fault because your head was still held up high, staying positive and thanking anyone who bothered to take a look at your collection. donatello was working behind the scenes to isolate you as much as possible. he didn't want anyone taking you away from him because you were his precious fashion genius, your ideas complement his. that's why GB Apparel x For You is going to rock the fashion world, he had thought, deep in his delusions of spending more time with you. one look at you and it had his heart beating out of his chest.

donatello was so proud to see the results of your collaboration, he kissed the top of your head and held you close. you've had affectionate friends before, but you had only intimately known donnie for a few months. sure, he was one of the turtles that saved new york years ago, not to mention his brand even climbed up the ranks for a place in paris fashion week alongside balenciaga and valentino... so you knew him... but you didn't ask for this. you used to have more friends, lovely colleagues. whatever happened to that ?

of course, once the collab line debuted in the spring you went back to work, you designed a men's fall line you thought would grab people's attention. it certainly snatched donatello's, when he called you frequently and realised you were parting from him to work on your own, it pissed him off. he wanted to know what you were hiding. you hesitantly let him in on a day when you were being interviewed by april for press, dressed up for photography and not for him. you're only for him, no one should see you except when you're beside him. he lashed out at you in front of april, upset that you weren't telling him your plans since the GB Apparel x For You collaboration, and april took notes of the drama. not for press purposes at all, but to tell his brothers.

you didn't see donatello for a while after that, to which you were glad. you felt a weight finally slipped off your shoulders as you rebuilt your community. people didn't know that donatello was the one at fault for your darkest moments. you rebuilt your community over the course of a year, making new connections and finally making it into new york fashion week all by your own efforts, not by donatello's.

it was when he showed up at your door everything went downhill again. he pushed his way back into your life, asking for a spring GB Apparel x For You line even though he already started on his own designs, incorporating style that you would add due to how well he already knew you. over the year he had been gone, he watched how you grew and connected with other people in the soho fashion scene. the thought made his skin crawl. it irked him to know you were out and about, perhaps having dinner with your new manager, or spending hours at a time with your new seamstresses after you threw out the sewing machines he so lovingly gifted to you.

all he wanted was to share his world with you, have you live in lavish luxury like you deserve. you said no. you already had ideas for your spring line which would be presented in london along with new york, you didn't have time to collaborate with him. donnie threw another tantrum in your apartment, this time feeling a lot more destructive. he threw your decorations everywhere, then held up some of your supplies to set them on fire. it scared you into submission, telling him yes, putting off your own projects to move into his apartment and get to working with him on the next collab line.

things were different this time. donatello was a lot more clingy, literally working alongside you as the two of you designed the thirty-piece collection, he made gentle suggestions and leaned in close, added and subtracted things on what you already drew. the two of you had ordered takeout sometimes and he would be the only one allowed to receive the food. you felt trapped. there was nothing you could do about it, just accept your fate.

Despite knowing it wasn't really Nooj that shot them, I'd imagine there's a couple of unresolved things there that all four of them could benefit from talking about. Baralai in particular seemed to take being betrayed by Nooj very, very seriously (which is well in his right to).

Paine spending more time tinkering around with machina and making small little machines that eventually work and don’t blow up in her face, excitedly (well Paine levels of excitement anyway) showing them off to Rikku or Gippal or any friend really.

Anything to do with the Crimson Squad. From them first meeting to them doing things together, to threads during the den of woe scene. I wonder if they would've met Ormi and Logos during this time, or they were all kept separate.

Some Kingdom Hearts threads would be nice too. I've tweaked the 'canon' for this a little, meaning that the YRP we see were once fully sized humans, but after trying to nab something from Maleficent and getting caught, they were contracted and cursed to work for her as fairies. While I don’t feel as if they would be the closest out of the four of them (personally I feel as if it would be Gippal more than Paine but w/e. they’re all pretty close to one another anyway), I do feel that if Paine were to be turned into a Final Aeon, it would look very similar to her Full Throttle Dressphere. And this is taking into consideration that they get to Sin before Yuna and Co. do, but don’t quite realise that there’s something up and end up repeating the cycle for another year. 

Meeting up with Yuna and Co. at some point in their pilgrimages. Perhaps during the Mushroom Rock Road fiasco. I'd imagine, a lot like Dona, they probably get turned away at the gates, but finding out what the aftermath is, perhaps Baralai rushes into help with the sendings.

This is a combination of the two above, kind of. But Yuna and Co. meet Baralai and Co. during both of their pilgrimages and become quite chummy with each other, all things considered. Unfortunately, Baralai gets to Sin first and continues the cycle for one more round, using Paine as his Final Aeon. Which I know, kinda ruins the end message of X with Tidus finding his father and forgiving him and anything but hear me out. It gets to a point where Paine as the new Sin is reborn after so many months and Yuna sets off again, guardians in tow. This time knowing full well what they didn’t before with Yevon’s lies and that the pilgrimage is not the right way to go. They stomp their way into Zanarkand, kick Yunalesca’s ass, go into Sin and find Paine at the helm of it.

Blog fog January 28(?) Lunar New year!

What was my last entry? Oh well I,ll just babble on...

Local trips: Several trips to Agua Blanca by bus, a quick flight on an old clanker , with a relaxing walk in to the beach,perhaps 40 minutes, some shade, dirt road, lots of would be subdivisions(10 meter by 15 meter lots!), and a lazy dog who waited till we,d passed before barking. It,s a lovely spot, with a white sand beach stretching for miles south undeveloped past the crocodile lagoon, and a more varied shoreline north past some new development houses right on the beach. If there,s ever a tsunami it will be a clean sweep since all these palapas and bungalows are built right on the sand.

Regretably the Dona Marce restaurant still can,t cook. My scrambled egg order came as 3 deep fried eggs(cold) swimming in grease. The fish filets would patch tires. Even the coconut was mouldy. Having clean bathrooms(bring your own tp) doesn,t quite compensate. Does have the best view beachfront tables.

The tidal pools are filled with sand from the spring hurricane so swimming is difficult. I tried the main beach west but after wading out to the breakers I fell in a trough and got dumped in the washing machine for a sand blast. There are some little pools up on the rocks that fill repeatedly from surf busting ashore, sort of a combo shower/jacuzzi.

What keeps me coming back is the tranquility. There,s no music, just waves. Hanging in a hammock with a good book. No vendors except little kids who should be in school half heartedly pedling baked bananas. Not even an ice cream cart struggling across the boiling sands. It,s the perfect spot for along beach walk south, picking shells, and seeing the net casting fisherman shaking tiny silver minnows out of their nets, birdwatching at the lagoon mouth for exotic waders, and seeing no crocodiles ever.

Playa Roca Blanca, 40 miles north is a bit more difficult to access. A low flying van which passes everything at the last minute on blind corners( the faster they get to the terminal the more beer they can drink before the next trip?), and practising tailgating(it makes the front vehicle go faster?). Only 55 pesos per person, and it,s the main means for locals to go shopping or move from town to town. No livestock, hay , bulk cargo. Fresh coconuts, and food that is professionally cooked to perfection. Tender fish, pink shrimp, or huevos rancheros, all served by "Gordo" an affable if oversized waiter.

Lately the surf has been low enough for swimming right in front, but it,s always safe over in the cove next door where the rocky point redirects the waves. Coco lined public beach backed by an iguanerium.(I won,t even try to spell that!) Hundreds of tiny green iguanas in tall net fenced cages, with the really big parents climbing free in the trees or atop the cages, My spanish is not up to asking what they do with them all, but a similar facility south of Puerto live releases them into communitys that agree not to hunt them.

So, the water is warm, swimming is fun and the food is good. This reminds me of the old Mexico of 20 years ago. Low key, not everything works but hey! Tranquillo, safe, cheap and very pleasant. The late afternoon walk out can be a bit steamy, but the scenery is interesting, and there,s always the rocket ride home to look forward to.

Politics. Jose is ambitious and bought several small parcels for resale. He,s built up a restaurant and is finishing a tin roofed papala(can tin roofs qualify as palapas?) Next will be some more cabinas to rent.While it would be cool to spend a night in this spot, the proximity of the huge swampy lagoon guarantees mosquitoes . And it,s wildly overpriced at $1000 pesos for small wooden box, I,d try it if they threw in 3 meals. Local politics are incomprehensible to us tourists, but Jose pissed somebody off and they burnt his truck and first cabina. I don,t ask.

In Puerto the local cops took to shaking down the beach tourists for spurious crimes, like drinking beer on the beach(6 cops, handcuffs, frog marched away,) or littering (guns out, freeze sucker). The town council got enough complaints that they disarmed them with warnings and brought in the Marines for beach patrol. I passed a public meeting a t the Agencia(town hall and plaza) where to my incomplete spanish it seemed an official was reassuring the audience(100) that all was well and the cops were controlled and the marines were on the job. They,ve been glad handing the beach walkers and trying to take happy publicity shots. Still 16 year olds with machine guns that they,d love to shoot!

So surfs up finally 3 to 5 meter waves, but as the disgruntled surfers explain the break still flops right onto the beach and it,s impossible to ride .The serious surfers go south to Tierra Blanca beach where the curl is good. Puerto was built on being a surf destination. What next? Well there are enough digital nomads, and now zillions of Mexican tourists using the new highway to fill the hotels. Everywhere, locals are adding second story rooms, and new hotels are under construction at La Punta.

Finally, when the bank machines were closed for refill at Chedruai, I went back to Banorte where I used to deal, to get $ for the rent. All went well, got cash, got a receipt, but my card was eaten by the evil machine. Appeals to the bankers inside were useless(no English) and what I interpreted was that my card was "destroyed". I spent 4 hours trying to reach my credit union and finally got the card cancelled. I can still pay with my credit card, and have enough cash to live on till I depart. Which by the way is March 20, 50 days from now! Time has flown in a most pleasant way...
