Understanding Complicit People โ€“ How Silence and Inaction Enable Harm
In todayโ€™s world, weโ€™re surrounded by complex issuesโ€”social injustice, inequality, corruption, environmental destruction, and more. Amidst this, thereโ€™s one group that often flies under the radar: theย complicit people. These are the individuals who donโ€™t actively cause harm, but whose silence, indifference, or lack of action allows harmful behaviors or systems to continue unchecked. Weโ€™ve allโ€ฆ

Qualities of a good leader
In my view, a good leader is someone who leads by example. True leadership is about guiding your team toward success and ensuring that no one is left behind. A great leader acknowledges and celebrates the contributions of their team, never taking credit for collective achievements. They are genuine, avoiding empty promises and unnecessary attention, focusing instead on the goals and growth ofโ€ฆ

Social Media: Donโ€™t โ€ŒSearchโ€Œ โ€ŒForโ€Œ โ€ŒFollowers - โ€ŒSearchโ€Œ โ€ŒForโ€Œ โ€ŒLeaders.โ€Œ
Itโ€™s no secret. I think social media is Toxic and Unhealthy for a personโ€™s mental Well-Being. To be fully honest, I never got back to social media in the same way as before I left. I was pretty much off social media the most of 2018, then a short period in 2019, and almost gone for the entire of 2020. Truth be told, until 2018, I was kind of addicted to social media. I checked my phone every 3rdโ€ฆ

Beyond Self-Interest: Embracing Disadvantage for the Blessing of Others
The more I understand biblical Christianity, the more I think our advance to maturity involves being willingly disadvantaged that others might receive an advantage. To be voluntarily disadvantaged means I am deprived of something so that others might gain
The more I understand biblical Christianity, the more I think our advance to maturity involves being willingly disadvantaged that others might receive an advantage. To be voluntarily disadvantaged means I am deprived of something so that others might gain an asset, an edge, a benefit, or an opportunity they might not have otherwise. This is charitable on my part, in which I give for the benefitโ€ฆ

I dream of a future where all forms of AAC give people the option to swear, to talk about "gross" things, and to have as full a range of vocabulary and topics as the users want. It is no exaggeration to say that limiting a user's ability to speak on certain topics because they cannot access the speech through their AAC is silencing.

What is nice about the fl community here is that. While I have big anxiety anyway I don't feel too pressured about having to do... moral caveats. I love the bazaar i think judgements are neat, I trust people understand I like. Get that i know killing people and upholding systems of oppression are bad. The bazaar is harvesting stories and drowning people and this is not like, a great thing, from a human morality perspective. But also go grandpa go!!! โ™กโ™กโ™ก her personal ambition involves the deaths of millions for a cause that may not even get her what she wants โ™ก yay
In general fallen london fandom has been very empowering for my anxieties around moral correctness, like. This is a space where people loooove characters who do bad things and have complicated relationships with everything. I've always struggled with that "but what if people think I'm evil for writing or caring for a character who is Too Flawed?!" And it's actually healing to look at ocs and go 'hm. You could be more fucked tbh'

My take on the Sabrina Carpenter album cover situation is that while, yes, her speech tends to contain some form of mild political, sexual and feminist commentary that paint her as a modern, liberal girl, her music lacks the radicalism necessary to subvert the imagery she employs, especially on this instance, and that's why it comes off tone deaf and "male fantasy" rather than empowering or satirical

If abortion becomes illegal nationwide in the US, it wonโ€™t look like The Handmaidโ€™s Tale
It will look the same. With things changing under the surface
Because that has already happened once
Before the revolution, abortion up to โ€œthe quickeningโ€ (when the fetus begins to move in the womb, usually 18-21 weeks. A point before which most abortions take place nowadays) was broadly socially accepted in Britain and its colonies. There were no laws against abortion at any point in pregnancy, however. That didnโ€™t start until the early 19th century, with Connecticut being the first state to outlaw abortion in 1821โ€ฆbut only abortion AFTER the quickening. New York was the first state to criminalize all abortions in 1829, with pre-quickening procedures as a misdemeanor and post-quickening as a felony
Many of those women could read and write; all of the free ones were allowed to. Some of them could speak multiple languages. Some of them had extensive knowledge of art, history, culture, mathematics, and political science. Some owned property or businesses. Most of them had family, friends, even husbands, who loved them and respected them. They had interests. They had ways of expressing themselves, through their clothing or hobbies or any other available means. And yet, they lost their bodily autonomy
The Handmaidโ€™s Tale doesnโ€™t scare me because rolling back womenโ€™s rights doesnโ€™t have to look like a sci-fi dystopia. if we go by history, it looks more like a Regency romance

Rhaenys + her slight smirk Steve Toussaint: What she does [...] there's always a slight smile playing on [Rhaenys's] face in scenes that I always find interesting. Like a sense of being amused at the situation. If you go back and look at Season One, it's quite a consistent thing.
