Understanding Complicit People โ How Silence and Inaction Enable Harm
In todayโs world, weโre surrounded by complex issuesโsocial injustice, inequality, corruption, environmental destruction, and more. Amidst this, thereโs one group that often flies under the radar: theย complicit people. These are the individuals who donโt actively cause harm, but whose silence, indifference, or lack of action allows harmful behaviors or systems to continue unchecked. Weโve allโฆ

Qualities of a good leader
In my view, a good leader is someone who leads by example. True leadership is about guiding your team toward success and ensuring that no one is left behind. A great leader acknowledges and celebrates the contributions of their team, never taking credit for collective achievements. They are genuine, avoiding empty promises and unnecessary attention, focusing instead on the goals and growth ofโฆ

Social Media: Donโt โSearchโ โForโ โFollowers - โSearchโ โForโ โLeaders.โ
Itโs no secret. I think social media is Toxic and Unhealthy for a personโs mental Well-Being. To be fully honest, I never got back to social media in the same way as before I left. I was pretty much off social media the most of 2018, then a short period in 2019, and almost gone for the entire of 2020. Truth be told, until 2018, I was kind of addicted to social media. Beyond Self-Interest: Embracing Disadvantage for the Blessing of Others

The more I understand biblical Christianity, the more I think our advance to maturity involves being willingly disadvantaged that others might receive an advantage. I dream of a future where all forms of AAC give people the option to swear, to talk about "gross" things, and to have as full a range of vocabulary and topics as the users want. It is no exaggeration to say that limiting a user's ability to speak on certain topics because they cannot access the speech through their AAC is silencing.
#disability#disability advocacy#like i don't use aac and i swear all the time and frankly people who use aac deserve to say fuck#and obviously if an aac user doesn't want to swear they should be given other options that empower *their* voice#but the trend toward narrowing what an aac user can say or even speak about is worrisome

What is nice about the fl community here is that. While I have big anxiety anyway I don't feel too pressured about having to do... moral caveats. I love the bazaar i think judgements are neat, I trust people understand I like. Get that i know killing people and upholding systems of oppression are bad. The bazaar is harvesting stories and drowning people and this is not like, a great thing, from a human morality perspective. But also go grandpa go!!! โกโกโก her personal ambition involves the deaths of millions for a cause that may not even get her what she wants โก yay
In general fallen london fandom has been very empowering for my anxieties around moral correctness, like. This is a space where people loooove characters who do bad things and have complicated relationships with everything. I've always struggled with that "but what if people think I'm evil for writing or caring for a character who is Too Flawed?!" And it's actually healing to look at ocs and go 'hm. You could be more fucked tbh'
#fallen london#just posting :)#i dont think i have ocd ultimately but moral sculpulosity is what im describing#and ive long had a lot of fears of people reading into stuff i like or write or draw and assigning judgement#you will have no doubt seen me flaking about this before but im much better than i was years ago#if i had to add a caveat every time i talked about suncrab like THESE GUYS ARE BAD BY MAJORITY MORAL STANDARDS#thatd be lame as hell and is so not the point#and i really like this is a space where i feel a lot more empowered and safe abput doing whatever and not fearing#i know you havent seen me post anything that wild and maybe i never will! but i like that i do not feel pressured to force safeness#and love seeing other people explore lots of horror and abuse and kink and just OC/Blorbo Who Is The Worst#without it carrying those moral anxieties i am used to

My take on the Sabrina Carpenter album cover situation is that while, yes, her speech tends to contain some form of mild political, sexual and feminist commentary that paint her as a modern, liberal girl, her music lacks the radicalism necessary to subvert the imagery she employs, especially on this instance, and that's why it comes off tone deaf and "male fantasy" rather than empowering or satirical
#my post#my opinion#sabrina carpenter#music#short n sweet#man's best friend#discourse#also like i think this is all a very smart move to promote her album even more by getting people to talk about it#like she's gotten thousands of people on this debate#also this is not to say you shouldnt listen to her or her music#hell i love her music#but i do think it's important that we're able to criticize artists without demonizing them#shes a good singer#good songwriter#and she has empowered herself and other women with her openess about sex#but we should still critique and have nuanced opinions on the content we consume#because nothing is flawless even if its ur fave

If abortion becomes illegal nationwide in the US, it wonโt look like The Handmaidโs Tale
It will look the same. With things changing under the surface
Because that has already happened once
Before the revolution, abortion up to โthe quickeningโ (when the fetus begins to move in the womb, usually 18-21 weeks. A point before which most abortions take place nowadays) was broadly socially accepted in Britain and its colonies. There were no laws against abortion at any point in pregnancy, however. That didnโt start until the early 19th century, with Connecticut being the first state to outlaw abortion in 1821โฆbut only abortion AFTER the quickening. New York was the first state to criminalize all abortions in 1829, with pre-quickening procedures as a misdemeanor and post-quickening as a felony
Many of those women could read and write; all of the free ones were allowed to. Some of them could speak multiple languages. Some of them had extensive knowledge of art, history, culture, mathematics, and political science. Some owned property or businesses. Most of them had family, friends, even husbands, who loved them and respected them. They had interests. They had ways of expressing themselves, through their clothing or hobbies or any other available means. And yet, they lost their bodily autonomy
The Handmaidโs Tale doesnโt scare me because rolling back womenโs rights doesnโt have to look like a sci-fi dystopia. if we go by history, it looks more like a Regency romance
#history#abortion#reproductive rights#I think a lot of people donโt realize this and assume that abortion was illegal throughout the countryโs history#until Roe v. Wade#and as Iโve said about other things I feel like the knowledge that things werenโt always a certain way#can be empowering to imagine change#or in this case to realize that what seems an absolute past#was not what they think

Rhaenys + her slight smirk Steve Toussaint: What she does [...] there's always a slight smile playing on [Rhaenys's] face in scenes that I always find interesting. Like a sense of being amused at the situation. If you go back and look at Season One, it's quite a consistent thing.
#each of these looks can be studied#like bfr it's usually a confidence thing in herself or pity on the scene partner... or both#like she is not just โamusedโ at it but just knows more or the other person is behaving in a way she'd predict and she understands#or she just feels totally secure or empowered in the scene like they can't touch her#there are degrees to the smirk - there is a legit scale#any way i love her and her smirk#we should let women be superior when they have cause#my gifs#house of the dragon#rhaenys targaryen#eve best#hotdedit
