Honestly, my gut feeling is Enterprise crew. Idk why, maybe just because it's the one I've seen most recently, (though I'm only on season 1!) but I can see both Trip and Malcolm being DMs and getting everyone else to play. (And hating that they're the co-instigators because their gamestyle is diametrically opposed: Trip usually just runs set modules but it's very rules-flexible, so long as it's cool roleplay, whereas Malcolm loves the minutia and lore, tends to homebrew his own settings, and thinks the maths is what makes it fun.)

Also Travis has definitely played before; Hoshi either has or has always wanted to, just never got round to it; and Dr Phlox is excited af to take part in this age-old human ritual. Archer rolls with it, it sounds fun enough. And, of course, it would be illogical for T'Pol not to take advantage of the opportunity to get to know her crewmates better.

Which Star Trek crew do you think would be most likely to try out DnD/D&D? Apart from the cerritos crew since they already have been established as playing it. I can for some reason see DS9 or any of the enterprise crews trying it out

Part 2

Summary: Your classmates are shipping you and your best friend, causing your professor to walk out.

" But close ain't close enough. 'Til we cross the line."

Warning: Slight angst, jealousy, confession, touch deprived Young-il, forbidden love, age gap (Young-il is in his 40s and reader is 25), and student x teacher (again)

You are laughing aloud with your best friend on the way to your classroom. He is making sarcastic comments about your pet peeves, pointing out their strange actions and how repulsive their mindsets are. In addition, he tells you foolish stories and amusing jokes that only the two of you will comprehend.

Along with exchanging ridiculous yet hysterical jokes, the two of you are clapping your hands like a damn penguin.

Keiron opened the door for you and let you in first before he went inside. Your eardrums are nearly destroyed by the loudness of the classroom. The combination of different noises made by your classmates.

In the room, they are hurling papers and taunting the nerd. The bullies hurried to their seats when Keiron yelled at them.

Kieron got you a chair and allowed you to take it before him. He was seated beside you.

Now, your classmates are looking at you both. They are both cheering and teasing you about your best friend.

They are all shipping you with him.

" You two are basically a couple!" One of your friends raised an eyebrow in jest.

Another one chimed in, " Seriously, have you seen the way you look at each other? It's like you're in your own world."

Your cheeks began to flush, and you turned to look at him—your friend, who had always been there but now appeared to have a different role in your life.

He smiled sheepishly as he met your gaze, but you could tell he was tense. Recently, you two had been getting closer, but this? This was not like the others.

“ Stop it!" You said, trying to laugh it off. " We're just friends.”

" Don’t lie to us! You are in a relationship!" One of your peers yelled. You went to your seat after flushing and attempting to cover your red cheeks with your palm.

The door suddenly opened and your professor Young-il appeared. When he walked in, they fell silent. A few of your classmates inquired about his day and offered to help him set up the monitor, which he gladly accepted.

He smiled his brightest in front of you and clapped his hand. He pushed his glasses up to his nose for better vision. He is looking around the room until he finds you.

Your male best friend and you are sitting there laughing at your ridiculous jokes. The sight of you with another man made Young-il's smile disappear. He tried to distract himself by thinking of something else, and he pursed his lip.

" How are you all today?" He asked everyone.

The fact that your classmates are shouting back at him made Professor Young-il laugh. " Everyone, calm down. I know…I know you have already had a lot of rants about other subjects." He laughed as he spoke.

Professor Young-il is the most awesome teacher you have ever encountered. You do not have to worry about him if you followed his rules; if you didn't, he might be strict. He assigns passing grades to his students who fulfill their scholastic obligations.

Professor Young-il is incredibly enthusiastic about his work. He ensures that all of his students learn during his lessons. Additionally, he asks his students if they need any clarification on the subject, and he will merely restate it in a straightforward definition. If the majority of you missed his point, he will not move on to another subject.

The majority of his students are crushing on him because of his admirable qualities. Because their professor is too attractive for his age, they are simping on him. They could not believe this man was almost fifty. He seemed younger than the other professor here.

You are beginning to feel something for him, and you can't deny it. Like your other classmates, it was a foolish crush. You can't help but blush whenever he calls your name, and it gives you the chills when you unintentionally brush your skin against him.

You're aware that this feeling is morally wrong because you are fantasizing about your own teacher. You must therefore keep your feelings for him hidden in order to prevent misunderstandings. It's already clear to you that he will never treat you better than his student.

“ Since the midterm is approaching and I want everyone to get ready for their upcoming tests, we will not be having any discussions today.” He began to speak.

The good news has you and your classmates jumping and cheering. Professor Young-il chuckled at your adorable response. He can’t deny, though, that he is jealous of your friend, who is essentially keeping his arms around your shoulder and giving you a playful hug.

“ Ayiiee!” Your classmates shouted at you when they saw how close you and your friend were to one another.

You are instantly dragged out of your embrace with him, and you attempt to conceal your blushes from the shame.

" Do you know, sir, that Y/n and Keiron are now dating?" Nam-gyu commented. He laughs more when you give him a glare.

" Look, they are hiding it!" Your classmates continue to make fun of you.

“ For your information, Nam-gyu, I'm not dating him!” You screamed at him. As a result of your response, Nam-gyu and his foolish friends are now laughing.

“ Denial is the river of Egypt!” Ming-su went on.

However, Young-il didn't find it funny. When your classmates made jokes about your friend, he didn't reply or smile. Young-il clenched his jaw, pretending he did not feel anything. However, if you probed him closely, he would admit that jealousy would cause him to blow up.

“ Class, settle down.” The class falls silent as he raises his voice. Professor Young-il is leaning against the board with his arms crossed.

His lip is being nibbled as he tries to control his sudden annoyance. He sighed and said, " I changed my mind; we need to discuss now. We waste a lot of time." He stated with firmness.

" Sir, you already stated that we will not have class today because you want us to prepare for the upcoming exams?!" Hyun-ju intervened.

Professor Young-il's hands slammed against the table. You were all taken aback by his unexpected outburst. It's easy to see how awkward and silent the classroom is.

Young-il took off his glasses and walked out of the classroom. With a quick, stern look in his eyes, he gave you both one last look before leaving the classroom, abandoning the place a hive of activity.

Your friends exchanged puzzled glances, but you were too preoccupied with what had just happened. The teasing had faded into the background, leaving a lingering question.

You can hear murmurs in the room. Your professor's altered behavior is the topic of conversation among all of your classmates. When your best friend asked you what had happened, you simply shrugged your shoulders since you were also unsure of the answer.

" Y/n, what if you need to find Mr. Young-il as our class beadle? We must apologize to him because we have treated him disrespectfully." In-su's statement prompted your classmates to agree.

There is nothing you can do but comply with their request. You excused yourself and left the class. While you are strolling down the hallway, you are mentally preparing your speech about your professor.

Also, you scratched your nape because you did not know where he was going, but your mind says otherwise.

You asked the faculty department where Professor Young-il was, but they were also unaware of his whereabouts. When you inquired about his office, the school administrator gave you directions straight away. You thanked them for their help as you walked out of their office.

You have been in his office for a long time now. The lengthy walk you took to look for your fucking professor has left you gasping for air. You breathed out as you knocked on the door.

When no one picks up, you knock again. With a sigh, you made the decision to go, but then the door opened and you were pulled inside. You nearly stumbled, and you heard the door lock.

It appears that you arrived at the wrong moment because your professor was sweating profusely and his clothes were not yet fixed. You used your hand to cover your eyes so you would not see anything else, which made your fantasies about him become worse.

His table is strewn with all of his possessions, and there are pieces of tissue on top of it. You turned to look at your professor, who was still taking a deep breath.

" Are you alright, sir?" You asked him in concern. He appears to have run a thousand miles before arriving here, as he looks like shit—a handsome type of shit.

He gulped. “ What are you doing here, L/n?” His tone carried a trace of surprise. Young-il straightened himself by buttoning his pants and buckling his belt.

You pretend that you were unaware of his actions. It's impossible to avoid feeling ashamed because you may have disturbed the person while he was engaged in another activity.

You swallowed. “ Ahm…you…ehrm…” Your voice trailed off. Sweat started trickling into your face. Despite the fact that everything around you is freezing, you are still sweating profusely.

Young-il couldn't help but grin when he saw how anxious you were, merely trying to formulate your words in an attempt to combat the awkwardness between you two.

He approached you. He squeezed both of his hands firmly onto your shoulder and patted them there. The sensation of his rough hands against your flesh makes you hitch.

“ C’mon, don't be nervous, L/n.” His voice was husky. His voice is so deep that it makes your underwear dripping. You tensed your thighs to keep from experiencing this emotion.

“ I will not bite unless you say so." He snarled right in your ear. The only thing you can do is close your eyes and battle the inner demons that are constantly bothering your innocent mind.

Young-il is reaching down to touch your arm. His other hand is on your waist, and he is gently caressing you while he waits for you to speak. He draws you in and presses your body against him to gain a better position.

Something hard poked your thighs, and you shivered. You remember seeing him put his phone in his pocket earlier before you went in, so you assume it was his phone.

“ Ahm…I'm here because—” You let out a moan as Young-il bit your skin and licked your neck.

“ Why did you stop?” He asked naively.

You gulped and went on. " I'm here because my classmates want you to return to the classroom and apologize for their behavior earlier." You have completed your sentence.

You heard him chuckle as he drew away from you. You both sense that the room is getting hotter, and you both know what you two want.

When Young-il's mouth opened, he quickly closed it again after saying nothing.

Once more, his expression was unreadable as he pursed his lips. Professor Young-il is very enigmatic, and you can not tell what his true feelings are unless he can essentially show them to you all.

He had not previously allowed you to see the rawness that was now present in his eyes. The silence between you two was heavy and thick.

Finally, he spoke again, but quietly this time. " I've tried to keep things professional. To ignore how I am feeling. But seeing you with him, hearing you talk about how your friends perceive you two together—it's hard." He began to speak.

You scowled, not understanding what he was saying. “ Beg your pardon, sir?” You asked.

Young-il grinned and took a step toward you. He is looking right into your eyes. His eyes are hypnotizing you. The range of emotions you are experiencing at the moment is causing your chest to pound so violently.

" You really don’t get it, do you?" There was a sharpness beneath the softness of his voice.

You blinked in confusion. “ Ahm…sir, could you please elaborate. I'm having trouble understanding your words." You beseech him.

He did not say anything as he observed your shifting facial expressions toward him. He licked his lips to keep from blushing in your presence. As a professional, it isn't cool to him.

You let out a sigh. " If you are not interested in answering my question, allow me to ask you."

" About earlier," You began, a little shaky in your voice.

" What was that about? What made you leave like that? I don't get it.” Your thoughts are racing right now. You desperately want an answer from him so that you can finally be at ease.

Because you have always noticed that Professor Young-il's mood shifts when you are with your best friend. In this way, he abruptly and without explanation exits the classroom. All you want is for things to be clear. You simply don't want to make any assumptions until he gives you a clear response.

Avoid assuming unless explicitly stated.

His eyes never left yours as he let out a sharp exhale. " I've been keeping it hidden for a long time, L/n. I thought I could simply ignore it. But as time passed, it became deeper and deeper, and I couldn't stop it anymore."

" I can't stand seeing you with him. Your best friend will do anything to get your attention, but here I am, being deprived of your attention.” He was so frustrated that he combed his hair.

" The way he looks, touches, and smiles at you makes me want to smash his face." He's looking at you, and when he talks about your best friend, a fire ignites in his eyes.

His hand slides to your jaw and then grabs your chin. " I don't want another idiot to steal what's mine." He let out a growl.

You were so surprised that you slapped him and shoved him away. The sound of his skin cracking loudly against your palm was loud.

As he touched the area of him that hurt, his jaw tightened. “ I'm…I'm sorry. Gosh, I'm sorry, sir. I didn't mean to slap you.” You nearly burst into tears before leaving.

However, a firm hand grabbed your wrist before you could get to the door and dragged you back to his arms. Young-il nearly strangled you with his tight embrace. He is stronger than you, despite your best efforts to break free. Thus, you simply allowed him to embrace you.

He sniffed your scent while resting his head on your neck.

" I've kept it hidden for a long time…My feelings towards you. I never imagined I would fall in love with my student. I thought it was a disgusting idea for me to feel this way about you." He admitted.

The realization struck you like a shock of electricity as his words lingered in the air. The person you had always admired from afar, Professor Young-il, harbored feelings for you.

What you are truly feeling at the moment is difficult to describe. The fact that the person you have liked for a long time likes you makes you happy, but you are also sad and afraid of what might happen if you keep looking at each other in this manner.

" But this is absolutely wrong, sir." You murmured into his chest. Young-il gave you a tighter hug. He strained himself further.

You drew away from his hug. " Why didn’t you say anything?" You asked, almost breathlessly.

" Why did you have to wait till now?" You added.

A tiny, irritated laugh escaped him as he combed his hair. " Because it's wrong. Y/n, you’re my student. I didn't want to jeopardize everything for an uncertain outcome.”

" But I can't deny that it hurts when I see you with someone else, when I see you happy with him." He went on.

The realization of his suppressed feelings and the overwhelming wave of guilt for whatever he must have been suppressing caused your stomach to turn.

" Professor, Young-I—”

His voice was low as he stepped closer and interrupted you. “ I'm aware of how complex it is. However, I had to say it. You had to know."

Neither of you said anything for a long time. The silence between you two felt like it had lasted forever, as if this conversation had been waiting to happen all along.

At last, you raised your head to speak softly to him. " What now?"

With a hint of sadness in his eyes, he smiled wryly. " I don't know. But perhaps we should both figure out where we stand. I can't continue to act as though I don't give a damn about you."

The words weighed heavily, as if they were an implicit pledge. However, neither of you was aware of the outcome. You were only aware that everything had changed at this precise moment.

Jack Skellington is a charming character, it makes sense that the character based off of him would be too.

I tossed the idea of Yuu being the love interest of the NRC boys vs the extra boys being the love interest of Yuu. That's how I write them anyway... and Skully is the perfect example of why. He is a ghost, writing Yuu as a ghost also makes a lot of sense! There's romance in two ghosts finding each other and choosing to pass on (or stick around and haunt) together... but it is also self contained. The other NRC boys have a lot going on, so it can be kind of difficult to weave everything and everyone into a story. The extra boys though... I can really focus on their relationship with Yuu and not feel like I am missing pieces.

Skully should get to dance in a graveyard with Yuu to creepy music. Kiss your hand and give you a bouquet of lilies and belladonna, take a lock of your ghostly hair and put it in a locket. Oh all the little Victorian ways he should get to say he loves you...

Ughhh I'm so sorry to be an ass but I see so much popular art on tumblr and around the internet that really woobifies both Laios and Kabru and their relationship, especially when they're together.... You guys are aware that Laios eats monsters the way people would like. Eat animals, right? He's not crazy or stupid or sadistic or anything. He has a special interest and it's monsters.

Furthermore, his past having himself and his sister be shunned for their interests in the abnormal made him develop a distaste for humanity. Laios has just thought monsters were way cooler since he was a kid, and Falin really looked up for him for his dedication to his interests and personal code of moral ethics. He never loved his sister less for her abilities, he admired her for what made her different. Because he's fucking awesome and they're autistic as hell.... they both went through so damn much. Laios never fit into the military, into his hometown, he barely fit into most groups of adventurers since he met Marcille, chilchuck, and company, and two of the members of that original party didn't care enough to join him. His feeling of worthlessness to his friends in the beginning of the story are enough to make him imagine a whole scenario in between major chapters where he was the one who was eaten.. and he thought nobody except Falin would care enough to save him.

Point being Laios has a much richer character that goes ALONGSIDE his special interest in monsters. Which honestly is more comparable to, like. A fucking biologist. Not a monsterfucker, not a cannibal, none of that shit. Monsterfuckers are cool as a monsterfucker but he's not one.. he's more like a furry man.... And he's not stupid he's just. Autistic. Why are we making autistic characters with a silly side seem stupid? Everyone has dumb moments sure but like.. he's really smart guys... there's a reason he's such a good leader outside of his ability to listen to his party members. Don't fall for the mischaracterization of Laios that his party members originally set for him before major important arcs guys...

And Kabru. Oh my God. Kabru. Kabru is also autistic but for humans, social interactions and culture... he's a nerd for politics and the humanities, and I'll avoid saying much more to avoid spoilers for non-manga readers but you'll see more of that as time passes. But he's not the type to be easily flustered. Laios only gets to him, not even because he's that difficult to read, but because he catches him off guard. He's an interesting critter, bro. And Kabru definitely sees that. It takes time to respect that, but within a period of time he learns to see him as a relatively competent adventurer and places a lot of faith from him. On some level, this guy has learned to understand this very interesting autistic guy who is forward with his feelings that a very autistic Kabru hasn't learned to understand. That's what makes their relationship so cool, man. He's not cold in reality (though people may perceive him that way due to backstory motivations and attitude within the dungeon), but he's a lot more serious than this... c'mon guys.. let's be a little real here please.... at this point I barely like Labru anymore because they've been so like. Babied. Woobified. Whatever the word is man. I'm starting to appreciate their friendship more as a friendship now because I just think the beautiful qualities I saw in their romance have been sort of overlooked or misinterpreted. Nowadays I just think their platonic relationship is beautiful. Sighs.

Farcille is awesome though and these girls are awesome slay

Edit: hey guys, I wanna address a couple of things here! For one, this isn't intended to be ship hate. Labru is a perfectly valid ship - rather, I'm just not a fan of how deep the mischaracterization of both characters runs, and how it results in the subsequent babying of their relationship. While it's driven me personally away from the romance a bit, I have no problem with the ship itself. Additionally, Farcille has its own issues with woobification that could use some addressing, I just haven't had to see as much mischaracterization on my feeds. Maybe in a future post I'll address some of my personal peeves with many people's characterization of Farcille, ESPECIALLY Falin.

Ok! Just a disclaimer before anything: this is not at all saying you shouldnt ship the meowrails, this is just a canon discussion blog and I have noticed... some stuff... but ship whatever you want, I literally don't care, all HCs are valid, etc. etc.

"Everyone has an important job to do." This is a phrase that gets repeated in Hivebent a few times, which makes it important, as Homestuck often uses repetition to build up an "internal lexicon" and deliberately highlight when situations have similar connotations (Hussie discusses this on their Formspring). So what's the context for this specific phrase? Well, it shows up three times, and for at least two of those times, it's associated with failed moirallegiances.

So, okay, apparently the context of this phrase is "this person is in a moirallegiance that will NOT work out"... well, here's the third time it pops up (though it's the first time chronologically):

So... hm. This isn't the only thing I have to say about meowrails breakup, but it is the most prominent one, and maybe the most damning, depending on how much weight you put into Homestuck's oft-deliberate use of parallels.

Maybe something a bit more damning is the way Hussie speaks about them in the book commentary? Pretty much every time they turn up, he has some comment to make about how Equius doesn't really "need" Nepeta, and about how he tends to talk over her and usurp her agency, like so many shitty boyfriends IRL.

We don't know much about Equius yet, but we get an awful lot of info about him with this excerpt. He's racist, a huge snob, doesn't like swearing, is stern and controlling, has a patronizing fondness for Nepeta, and thinks archery is cool because of its association with nobility. Combine this with the snapshot of his room we'll see soon, and suddenly we have an extensive character portrait. This was all important to establish quickly, because it helps us understand in record time that Equius is in fact one of the greatest characters ever created.

Equius says he appreciates that Nepeta's angry. I guess meaning that he respects an angry disposition, like his own. Especially early on in his characterization, it's suggested he has anger issues (like him taking his rage out on robot dummy combatants). But I'm not sure this trait holds up. Over time, he seems to show a lot more passion about his weird stuff, his passion for archery and muscular horse men, his submissive obsessions, his deference toward those higher on the hemospectrum and fetish-like indulgence in depraved attraction toward those lower. Ultimately he comes off more as a ridiculous nerd, with a soft spot for a lot of silly and creepy shit. My view on this is, it's not that the text lost track of the fact that he was supposed to be angry. It's more that this was his initial state of mind early on, and the more he started blowing off steam with his various indulgences (Aradiabot, etc.) the less he had to be mad about. We just meet him at a really high-strung point in his life. I think it's more accurate to say his "anger" is a form of hyperintense focus on being stern, aloof, proper, and averse to nonsense, which is a facade serving to cover up his inner personality, which is barely in control at all. Like Nepeta suggests, deep down he wants to play the kinds of silly games she plays. He wants to let go completely, and indulge every ludicrous and depraved whim he has. His arc tends to be more about caving to these indulgences, and all the mixed consequences that follow, than resisting them.

Here's [S] Equius: Seek the highbl00d, another playable RPG game. [...] But Christ, why am I talking about that garbage when we are about to review some truly choice material focusing exclusively on your favorite meowrails. It is a great illustration of their tragic dynamic; deeply committed and caring partners in the diamonds quadrant, and yet compromised by Equius and his stubborn class-driven faults, his pathological reverence for his superiors, his forced and probably not genuinely felt sense of disdain for lower bloods like Nepeta, and ultimately his failure to rise above these flaws when presented with a real test of character and friendship. A test imposed, of course, by a boorish murderclown, who from this point onward just ruins fucking everything, constantly.

Hussie is an unreliable narrator (of the "he's deliberately playing a character who's biased, opinionated, and sometimes wrong, because a major theme of Homestuck is that you have to question who's telling the story and if they can be trusted" variety), so it's difficult to parse exactly what he's saying is salient, especially since he talks so damn much. But even so, he constantly goes out of his way to highlight how the meowrails DON'T work out - which is even pretty canon in the comic.

In Hivebent, the two are established as working along this dynamic: Nepeta soothes Equius's anger issues, while Equius keeps Nepeta from recklessly endangering herself (for example, prohibiting her from LARPing). But as Hussie says, Equius's anger problems become basically nonexistent by the time Murderstuck rolls around, and his actual problem is his overindulgence in his fetishes; meanwhile, his bossy, controlling attitude to Nepeta was always kind of suspect, but it actively becomes a source of frustration to her that she can't wait to shirk (he bans her from talking to the humans, and she goes behind his back to do it anyways - even celebrates when Karkat gives her express permission).

In the end, they die for their failures as a moirallegiance - despite being fresh off a feelings jam in a pile, and so, supposedly at their least likely to hurt themselves or others, Equius's horny gets him killed (Hussie has always maintained across multiple platforms that Equius could've easily overpowered Gamzee, he just chose not to because Hot), and Nepeta doesn't listen to his orders to stay put. In later conversations with ARquiussprite, Equius is always framed as the one here who was wrong - who failed to keep Nepeta safe and has something to apologize for. I think it's also pretty important to notice that in the bubbles, Equius is never seen doing so - but IS seen being really weird to Aradias - fully implying that he's actually been avoiding taking accountability to Nepeta in favor of indulging in his fetish shit, out of shame and guilt.

As Hussie says, the meowrails are an important relationship, and when I say they don't work out, I don't mean they shouldn't have been together in the first place. On the contrary; I think they actually were good for each other, way back on Alternia. Nepeta DID keep Equius's frustrations in check, and Equius DID keep Nepeta out of trouble. But as time went on, Equius just got really comfortable with treating Nepeta like an object he owned - something convenient, which he can use when he's feeling sad, and ignore otherwise - and Nepeta started growing frustrated with his increasingly petty control. They grew as people, their needs changed, and they stopped being good for each other, but they stayed together - out of inertia and sunk cost fallacy on Nepeta's end, and on Equius's end, because it was convenient and pleasant (for him) and useful (for him) so why would he throw it away?

While this is something I think could potentially be worked out with relationship therapy, the thing with Homestuck is that it's big into the idea of soulmates, especially in the pale quadrant (which is described with that exact term). Its ultimate thesis on romance is that, while you have to do a lot of personal work in order to be the kind of person who can BE in a soul mates relationship, ultimately a relationship SHOULD have an element of just... easy compatability, idiosyncracies clicking together in just the right way to bring out the best in both parties. It's idealized, and there's criticism to be made about that, but that's still ultimately how romance kind of functions in Homestuck. The perfect match is out there for you, and while you have some growing to do in order to be ready for it, it's supposed to be easy once you get there. Consider how Eridan can calm Karkat down literally just by talking to him normally, or how Sollux regularly outright professes that Feferi's just fucking amazing - these are relationships where the involved parties don't need to tell themselves "everyone has an important job to do" with grit teeth to justify keeping the relationship going.

Meowrails lacks that inherent compatability, according to the evidence, but of course, that brings up the question of who they SHOULD date in pale instead. Hey, did you ever notice that Dirk (and by extension, Hal) are EXTREMELY Equius-coded?

So here's the thing. Hal's favorite alpha kid is Roxy, who is also pretty Nepeta-themed, being a cat-associated Rogue. They regularly flirtLARP with each other, but when we get a glimpse of this so called flirtLARPing, it's actually Roxy almost, but not quite, getting Hal to admit that he's actually not really that into Jake, he just feels obligated, as an extension of Dirk, to make DirkJake happen. They almost, but not quite, have a feelings jam.

Meanwhile, Hal outright calls his conversation with Dirk, as Dirk grapples with whether or not he should kill Hal, a "feelings jam", and Dirk also has a convo with Caliborn about how maybe he should consider the merits of selfcest.

What these interactions hint at, to me, is Nepeta <> Hal, and Equius <> Dirk... and I think if you consider it from the standpoint of their personalities, it works, too?

Nepeta is pretty consistently shown to have a knack for knowing how other people actually feel. Her shipping charts are incorrect in terms of compatability, but she's got a scary knack for reading intentions and desires - as befits a non-destructive Heart player. She's able to pinpoint that Eridan's advances on her are insincere, but he's not that bad a guy; she notices that Karkat is a big softie who loves his friends so much; she correctly reads that Equius is a big ol' goofball who loves to play games. Hal, as a Mind player, and even more as originally being a Dirk splinter and an AI, is deeply distressed by his lack of "self"-hood; it's Roxy who calls out first and most blatantly that he's clearly his own guy with his own real feelings, which seems to be why he gravitates toward her. Nepeta would do this even harder, since it's kind of her entire Thing, and I think Hal would really appreciate that, since Hal is at his worst when he thinks he's acting in someone else's best interest (Sylph lol).

Meanwhile, what Nepeta really needs IS an enabler. She's a rebellious soul with radical ideas about how the hemospectrum is stupid and dumb, and she's RIGHT and she should SAY IT. Hal's amazing at giving people what they "want", pulling strings to ensure DirkJake happens, while also framing it as something that Jake would want - this bombastic, action hero kiss-in-front-of-a-volcano. Nepeta's clearly attracted to characters with Equius-esque qualities, but after spending so long with Equius, who does nothing but push her down with a patronizing "hush, greenblood, it's for your own good," I think she would do well with an insane partner in crime who instead goes "fuck yeah girl, let's make this shit happen." Especially since her personal insecurities are that other people will find her dumb and silly (an impression that Equius certainly didn't HELP with...) - having Hal in her corner going "uhhh you're literally my favorite and I will engineer situations to fall directly in your favor?" would be a huge help to her.

I'm actually not entirely sold on equius <> dirk - they're maybe too similar? - i have in my notes here john <> dirk and equius <> jake. idk. the shipping web starts to get complicated

rewatching TOS now as an adult after having seen only a few episodes when i was much younger, i have a deeper appreciation for the Triumvirate and co. i always liked Uhura, Scotty, Sulu, Chapel and Chekov more than the main three, but i find myself overjoyed at any scene involving any of them. i also really loved Sulu and Rand’s friendship in season 1, it gave us a glimpse into their lives as crew members and just as human beings. i love that they are each essential to the running of the ship and truly choose to stick by each other and these three silly little guys for so long. i love knowing that Uhura sings because Nichelle Nichols was a theatrical singer. i love that Sulu wished for an old fashioned gun and is an unabashed plant nerd. i love that Scotty loves the Enterprise more than he cares about someone insulting Kirk. i love that Chekov actually expresses frustration at being treated like a kid. i love Rand's hair, impracticality be damned. i love that they have their own lives but are all drawn back to the Enterprise. the supporting cast add a texture to the show that i firmly believe it could not do without.

that said, i also find i have a deeper appreciation for the relationships between Kirk, Spock and McCoy. of course, the tension between Kirk and Spock is certainly intriguing, but it’s hard not to see them as an incomplete duo without Bones. i think there’s this sort of expectation that in groups of three, one person will always get left out. Bones doesn’t even have the choice of being left out, he gets dragged along with the two of them in every stupid decision they make. and they rub off on him: he may gripe more often than he sings praises, but he’ll readily give his life for Jim or Spock any day. because despite whatever he might say (and he really does say some awful things), he finds joy in their company. and most of the time, he only gripes because he cares. he's frequently frowning and prickly over Jim and Spock's nonsense, yet he has such a tender heart. that’s so interesting to me.

i wasn't expecting Bones to become my favorite of the three, but here we are.

everyone talks about Amok Time as the birth of Spirk, K/S, the Premise. but Spock asked them both to be there. as logical as it may be to bring a doctor with you to your wedding/sex ritual/divorce/fight to the death, especially when you're afflicted by an intense blood fever that's slowly killing you, Spock knew the possible outcomes. either there would be no need for a doctor in the end or someone would die and what good would a doctor be in that occasion? he calls them both his friends when he justifies Jim and Bones' presence to T'Pau. he knew he needed them both down there. and frankly, someone would have died if Bones hadn't been there.

it wouldn’t be fair to say Bones keeps the other two in check, because really, what he is, is a point of balance. whether you read the relationship between Jim, Spock and/or Bones as romantic, sexual, platonic, professional or even familial, the balance they hold together as a trio is fundamental to how they are written as characters.

So recently this one artist in a fandom I’m in got harassed en masse because they just didn’t want to draw same sex couples and now everyone is calling them homophobic and making up lies about them, including saying the artist didn’t draw it for religious reasons when that was never the case.

A hugely popular account called them out and it’s disgusting how many people are seeing this as homophobia. Not wanting to draw something doesn’t mean you hate it! Plus you don’t even know why someone doesn’t want to draw things and it doesn’t matter why! Idc how gay the show is, no one is entitled to draw what you want!

Jesus, just block and move on! Plus, instead of just going “hey, people are upset about what you wrote on your comm sheet” and trying to have a rational discussion, you just send people after this artist over a damn lie that someone made up and now everyone is taking as the truth even though the artist had stated MANY times that they’re not homophobic. Simpatico. i. idk why but something about that ship makes me so damn happy- like somethign about Brainstorm being so goofy silly, constantly trying to prove his worth in contrast to Percy's super analytical no nonsense attitude, eventually drifting towards Percy mutually respecting the silly fella makes me so happyy.... It's a really funny dynamic to me, and there's that point in the story where I feel like you can see Percy start to really admire BS.. it really flipped a switch for me- Also that final simpatico panel in the last LL issue makes me so happy bc they both look so happy and I love seeing happy characters :D

Edit: Forgot to mention, but also something about post-war Percy finally returning to science work, after years of being a sniper? To me at least, it felt like Percy was relearning his love for science outside of his duties, and Brainstorm's little arc + Nautica's arrival helped him gain new equals to work alongside with- They bring a bit competitiveness and discovery to science that helps reinvigorate Percy's intrinsic love and interest after years of strict duty

Brainstorm's angstt.. his internal conflicts, lack of self-worth, being so absorbed with his work that it ends up harming him, and the way he cares about people he's close to which eventually all leads to his arc all are stuff I really relate to heavily so i chomp it down with salt and pepper

His weirdness,, like he's sorta funky weird and I appreciate that a lot, because it all makes sense or no sense to him and him alone, and yea that makes my brain happy :)

His own little hyperfixations/general fixations like researching time travel, the dead universe, sparkeater stuff, multiverse stuff etc. etc. (like who else goes: oh huh this creature almost killed me, lemme go make a gun that makes more of those things :D) he just like me fr fr

Yet they have a certain flavour of sad care to their dynamic which feels real and melancholic,, also the way you can kinda feel how his experiences with Chromedome's past sorta influences how he sees Nautica's decisions later in the story gghhgughhh

Sumary: In which a magician who is secretly a theif, attempts to steal Varian’s book

Note: I’m not really a good writer so sorry if it too simple for you!

The sound of beakers, liquid mixing, and cogs turning filled the room. Varian reached to grab a certain liquid ‘hm? Where is it?’ He says while the Erlenmeyer flask seemed to be empty. Varian sighs because he knows that he has to go out and retrieve the ingredients, While strolling through the market he heard the people talking how a ship arrived at the borders ‘Ship huh?’ He thought. As he was walking he accidentally bumped onto a person “Oh! Sorry!” Varian tried to help the person up till he recognized it was a girl “You should watch Honestly watch your back kid!” Said the girl, he noticed the way her outtfit wasn’t like the clothes of Corona’s it was more foreign. “Uhm your not from here aren’t you?” Varian asked, the girls 'eyebrows furrowed “And so what? It was next morning, Varian tried to find Y/n but he couldn’t, after all the book may not contain important notes about the castle, yet it had important information for him. Varian went to rest on a nearby tree where he could see everyone and everything, at this point it would be impossible for Varian not to spot Y/n. “The view ‘ere is calming no?” Varian yelped as he saw Y/n come down the tree and dusted herself off

This is absolutely nothing to do with the Netflix show I haven’t even watched that thing but I’m once again thinking about Sokka and Sokkas Master again and going insane.

Especially with how Sokka was never supposed to be a warrior. Like fundamentally he’s just not built for that kind of life. He was born into war and has been basically been told and trained to believe that one day he is going to die for his tribe and especially for his sister and that’s his destiny and he’s like okay that’s my job that’s what I do and everyone in the tribe knows this and sees this as my role as I am the only man left. (I sincerely doubt a bunch of woman and old people were actually looking at this kid as the last warrior seriously until he went to fight the fire nation BY HIMSELF but that’s not the point, the point is he was doing it)

But but the thing about Sokka is he’s not a fighter, he’s a scholar to his core. He doesn’t win hand to hand against Zuko but he does get a hit in with his boomerang that takes an insane amount of math to do perfectly and even though he loses the fight we realise already that Sokka is coming at this war from a different angle that anyone else is.

Like Sokka knows when he joins Aang he doesn’t have as much to bring to the team, he basically assigns himself the role of provider and bodyguard and is now willing to die for both of them because they are two of the most important people in the world and he could have been cynical the entire time. He was prepared to be cynical. Until he goes to Kyoshi gets his shit rocked by a girl and is like oh damn there’s different ways to go about fighting and war and I actually don’t know a lot of it can you super pretty warrior lady teach me your ways and from that moment on Sokka becomes a student.

He gets the mark of the wise with Bato, he figures out how to get Katara on that prison ship and that the fortune teller is a hoax and gets the water bending scroll all through thinking things through not fighting them head on. He invents the fricken war ballon and it’s so clear that all his thinking is now coming at things from an angle no one expects which is so perfect for this war in particular considering it’s been basically a slow tug of war between the Earth Kingdom and the Fire Nation for decades. He’s looking at these things and he’s like hey I’m not a bender but I do know how benders think and how a lot of people think because I’m trying to figure out how the world works. Like by the time he gets to North he isn’t as great with the weapons because again HES NOT A FIGHTER AT HEART but he is a thinker and he points out all the holes in the Norths strategy with full confidence.

Like in book 2 all his thoughts are about winning and out thinking the enemy. He learns about the library and gets so genuine excited about it but he can’t be a true nerd cause of his responsibilities but he basically plans a way to win the war, learns haikus, try’s art, gets into wrestling and learns so much about other cultures and skills he’s always thinking and winning and no longer doing things on impulse.

But of course he still feels insecure about that and doesn’t see his brain as his true weapon because he was supposed to be the warrior. That’s his role.

So he goes to Piandao who sees all of that and sees how Sokka is so so smart and eager to learn and think in ways that no one expects and he nurtures that. He teaches him art and calligraphy and gives him a Jian! He gives Sokka a Jian "The Gentleman of Weapons" not Dao even though Dao are made for soilders and Jian are for scholars, nobels and people who have time for proper sword craft. (Not to mention the fact they are primarily used for Tai Chi which is also the base for water bending which is just a detail I love). Like the Jian is a sword for scholars it’s for scholars!!!

Sokkas a thinker not a fighter and that’s so amazing to me.

Like he starts as the boy that took on a fire nation ship by himself then ends the series as the guy who’s strategies won the war, a trusted advisor for basically anyone of importance because they know he’s smart and are willing to listen to his ideas and with such a happy future for him to grow without the weight of having to be a fighter weighing him down cause that’s not who he’s supposed to be.

So a couple people have actually enabled me re: yelling about and trying to organize my thoughts on my assorted SDV mods, so let's see how it goes? idk

First, for anyone reading this who has not done the SDV modding thing yet, you need SMAPI, Content Patcher, and Generic Mod Config Menu, and some of the mods I use have other utility mod requirements but I don't want to go clicking through every one to double check and really, they're very good at making them obvious on Nexus if you follow any of my links, and I'll be happy to answer any questions on this absurdly long and rambling thing that failed entirely to just be a list.

Big/Overview & Game-Wide Mods

As mentioned before, my preferred recolor is Vibrant Pastoral, but there are several out there, most of them are pretty compatible with other mods and have been updated for 1.6 if they're still on Nexus at all, and I have no real horse in this race in terms of suggesting mine in particular, I just like it. (Options for bushes and water and grass, oh my! It's really very pretty, did I say that already?)

Diverse Stardew Valley

So you can just use this as a seasonal outfit mod (they'll dress for rain and snow, the LI squad has pajamas, there's varied beachwear, etc.) and there are some fun 'global' options that put mermaid pendants on portraits of married people (including your spouse and several rival hearts/additional NPC options as well if you play with any of those mods), and make the Flower Queen more dynamic, and you can absolutely leave it at that and leave all the characters at "vanilla" if you want. (Or with very minor tweaking to make sprites and character portraits match, that kind of thing.)

BUT, they have various different options for ethnicity/religion/disability/etc. for pretty much everyone in town and Krobus has cute little accessories he wears and Maru & Sebastian look so good and they're my favorite nerds, so! (They both have a couple options but I like these. I do also usually give Sebastian piercings, but I didn't have a good shot of that in the same style as Maru's preview there, and it looked weird having a different sort of image.)

Also I chose variants where both Haley & Kent are HoH and I imagine them both together somewhere turning off their hearing aids and ignoring all the awful loud Hearing Folks In Town, because they're both actually kind of terrible at Being Friendly (if for different reasons) and it makes me happy to know they've got company when they don't want To People.

Also Linus can have a service dog! Her name is Marigold! She's such a good girl!

UI Info Suite 2

IT SHOWS YOU EVERYTHING! Range displays for sprinklers and scarecrows and bee houses and mushroom logs and mossy seeds and and and... There's hover text on machines & crops & tappers; icons over animals that need petting or item collecting; calendar & help wanted board in your player menu; reminder icons under the HUD-clock for b-days, trader visits, tools, weather, queen of sauce, luck level; plus inventory icons on hover for museum/shipping/bundle collections; and you can turn any of it on or off whenever you want.

NPC Map Locations

There's supposed to be a map function in ⬆️ but it doesn't work as well imo.

CJB Cheats Menu & CJB Item Spawner

These are full on "cheating" if you care about OG game balance or whatever, but if you're aiming for an achievement that isn't fun for you, or hate the casino but want the damn rarecrow or top hat, or you're trying to get All Eight Frog Egg Trinket Colors for your froggie-sanctuary-loving-spouse, (just me?), or just want to force something to grow or a machine to finish or for friendship decay to disappear, these will do it. Go wild. Make time stop in dungeons so you can make it to floor 100 in a day! Catch your fish perfectly! Give yourself a fish you forgot to catch last season! Kill things in one hit! Warp anywhere any time! Give yourself all the loot you need! (Or clothes you want!) Pause while decorating until everything's PERFECT! Make your ridiculous OP farm fun again as you force your way to perfection!

Or whatever.

I legit have to uninstall these sometimes because I hit them up too much and get invested in an end goal rather than enjoying playing? But I have used both of them, they're great, especially if your brain is even slightly less dysfunctional than mine is at the moment.

Forage Fantasy

So the blurb for this makes you think it's just about tappers & mushrooms (which I enjoy a lot, so that's very good!) but ALSO the Survival Burger is still an early level forage recipe that can now be either crafted or cooked out of seasonal forage so you can 1: make it immediately and have food before you have a kitchen or money, especially if you've had good luck trash diving for bread, (otherwise you do have to buy bread from Gus but at least it's cheaper) and 2: there are four different recipes since the ingredients are seasonal but they're still all survival burgers and stack nicely in your inventory or fridge and idk that's delightful for me. (Also if you cook it you make two and if you craft it you make one which is such a well-done little balance thing.)

Also it has an option to make fiddlehead fern a regular forage item so there are four summer forage items for the community bundle & seed recipe, which makes everything balance nicely in my brain and I like it so much.

OmniTool

Have you ever been hitting rocks in the mine and then scroll the wrong way or hit the wrong button and try to hit the Something that is attacking you with ore, or your fishing rod, or something else useless? (Do you, like me, hate that all your tools that might be handy take up almost an entire row of your backpack slots even though you have Chests Anywhere and can just move things so it doesn't matter?) This thing lets you combine the ones you want, then auto senses the tile you're clicking on and picks the right tool out of your stack. (You can adjust which tools it works with and which click it's looking for in the config, too.)

It does not understand that I need the pickaxe for moving certain decorations or clearing out dig spots so they don't show up on my farm computer as empty tilled soil, and I don't put my fishing rod in there because then it sometimes tries to fish when I'm panning & vice versa, and you have to click *next* to trees you want to scythe for moss or else it will hit them with the axe, and I know all these things and still hit the wrong thing all the time? AND YET, it's still pretty neat! And I hit monsters on purpose way more often! And my toolbar looks so clean and open. 😅

Which leads us nicely into:

I HATE INVENTORY MANAGEMENT

(My very favorite inventory mod ever was 'Less Annoying Flowers' which was not updated for 1.6. Someone else loved it and made a 'Custom Flower Colors' which lets you pick the colors instead of just choosing from some defaults, but since that's literally all it does it is smaller in scope than the rest of these and I put it at the end in my random tweaks list.)

Chests Anywhere

You can access all of them from anywhere with a touch of a button! Or possibly you can limit that to the ones in your area. You can make them inaccessible in dungeons if you want for the proper crawl feel; very versatile in terms of how much inventory you want to deal with and when and where.

Convenient Inventory

Auto-stack! (Distance can be global if you have Chests Anywhere!) Mark something your favorite so you can't stack/drop/ship/trash it by accident! It will let you pick up everything except one of an inventory item too, so you don't have to figure out a count but still have something to auto-stack back to.

Workbench Helper

Does for crafting what mini-fridges did for cooking, basically, as this lets you pull from chests that aren't touching the workbench. You can set it to require that the chests chain to touch the workbench, pick a specific distance, or set it to anything in the area/room you put the workbench in.

Big Fridges

Exactly what it says on the tin. Your initial fridges in both the Farmhouse and Ginger Island kitchen have 70 spaces. (Much like a Big Chest vs a Regular Chest.) You can buy more Big Fridges from Robin and place them on top of a mini-fridge if you already have them (again like the big chests) so you don't have to manually move inventory around.

And it's got a color picker, so my blue and white fridges match my floor there in the corner! I'm love them! Even if I'm too lazy to get a daytime screenshot so they show up better.

ON FINDING THE STORY

So I don't actually have any real expansion mods, I can easily take an entire in-game day just wandering around my farm checking on my trees and ponds and critters, with maybe a quick visit up the mountain or through the forest or over to the saloon to say hi to people, so I don't think I could manage more maps or people or whatever without always feeling like I was neglecting something else?

But I do like getting the most out of what's there already.

So I have Event Lookup to make sure I mostly don't miss heart events, and Platonic Relationships so no one thinks I'm going out with them but I can still get them to 10 Hearts and my relationship screen looks nice. (This one doesn't edit the 8 or 10 heart scenes, it just lets you see them, so be aware that they'll be romantic for the length of the cutscene. To avoid that you need Platonic Partners and Friendships, too.)

I then keep going with Fourteen Heart Events For All because a lot of those are actually very community rather than romance focused so I think they just mostly edited them to trigger outside the farmhouse and some other minor tweaks? And everyone deserves to get a nice dinner from Harvey and go to Haley's cakewalk and cheer on Elliot's book tour, and yk I should probably not list all twelve of them that'll get really long? (SAM & VINCENT THO. So adorable.) It has an optional alternate Alex 14-heart event, which works very well with Sports Room Event Overhaul so what used to be Alex's 14-heart event becomes explicitly more of a group-at-the-tavern thing, which is just so nice y'all. So nice.

And finally, Cooperative Egg Hunt so I don't feel bad about stealing eggs from little kids (and Abigail).

There's a very long list of dialogue & NPC mini-expansion mods that I've checked out that claim they work together well, and are reasonably compatible with DSV, and look like they'd add to that community vibe that makes SDV fun for me, (a couple of which I tried pre-1.6 a few years ago and liked even), but I got pretty far in this game before I dove back into using mods beyond the big three of DSV, UI Suite, and Chests Anywhere, so I think they'll wait for the next save and maybe another post if I'm feeling ambitious.

ANIMALS & ARTISAN GOODS

There are so many awesome animal add-on mods (I find them more interesting than just the crop ones, especially since they've mostly all got really well done animal noises which are delightful) but I'm not using any this time! (It's so weird?) Partly because I did in fact try Frog Friends and they were adorable and I loved the ribbits in the farm background noises, but there are fourteen of them which meant my grass got eaten so fast and I needed the Terrarium so as not to take up more than one whole coop just with frogs and I dunno, it didn't vibe with the rest of my farm, plus a lot of the animal mods legit give me too much stuff it makes me twitchy? I could just trash the excess loot, but idk, brains are weird y'all. tone it down for me, mod makers, I'm a weirdo 😅😅😅

I do have a couple of adjustments that I do like however.

Animal Multiproduce (yes, this gives me more stuff in direct contradiction to my previous post. no it does not trigger the twitchy however so WHATEVER, I LIKE IT. basically it just means you don't lose out on base animal product on the day rabbits or ducks give you their special animal product)

Autonomals (animals move more & further from their coops/barns because they don't freeze when you leave the farm)

Better Honey Mead (Specialty honey turns into specialty mead)

Better Truffles (Icons so you can find them in the grass! Also pigs can dig in the grass so blanket your animal yard in greenery to keep everyone else happy and still get truffles)

Blue Eggs and Golden Mayo (BLUE EGGS FROM BLUE CHICKENS Y'ALL. They make blue mayonnaise and will hatch more blue chickens, it's great. Also ostrich mayo instead of ostrich eggs making lots of normal mayo, much like the duck mayo situation. I have not gotten to golden chickens, but they're supposed to work like the blue ones)

Like a Duck to Water THEY SWIM! It's Great! (You will have to block off the pond or give up on fencing them in tho.)

Milkable Sheep Milk alternates with wool. Very straightforward.

Now I just need to learn how to mod and give goats a secondary product so they balance out with all my other barn critters? I mean they can irl be combed out for fiber a la mohair or whatever, but that makes them basically just sheep again. Maybe they find wild seeds or trash or something, since they eat all the junk that isn't grass, too? oh no, now I'm thinking about it too much, #help

And while I'm not using it right now, I can absolutely recommend Animal Squeeze Through if you need more room in your barn or just want to put ostriches in your coop with the other birds because birds.

(as a side note, I do wish his Solarian table was proper furniture you could put somewhere else in the house, instead of just being replaced by his terrarium. I think I saw a mod that moved it to the Community Center but I can't remember which one? gosh, now I'm gonna have to try and find it again)

Playable Piano

So I was always a little sad that Sebastian seemed invested in playing the keyboard in like, two scenes & dialogue lines in reaction to Sam, but doesn't actually have a piano, unlike Abigail and her drums, so I got him one and also a mod so I can play it.

Guess which one I got? 😅😅😅

Crop Transplant Mod

Decoration gone wrong or clicked the wrong square or just changed your mind? MOVE YOUR SEEDS OR CROPS OR TEA PLANTS (or even trees if you want to set it up like that in the config) with your garden pot.

Move Greenhouse Plot

The unrepaired greenhouse can be moved at Robin's just like any of your farm buildings. Very nice for getting set up how you like the first year.

Skull Cavern Elevator

I don't think this needs a blurb? You can set the spacing for where it shows up and charge a toll if you want to adjust how easy this makes skull diving. This is vital enough I probably should have mentioned it sooner, but it's also just one of the little tweaks ones, so whatever.

Seasonal Colored Seeds

Literally just changes the bag colors but it is a good aesthetic if you sort your chests by season, and it is easier to skim for whichever thing you're looking for if you just shove all your seeds together somewhere like I do.

Custom Flower Colors*

Makes all your flowers only one color! (Or you can pick a range from a default or choose your own, up to six per flower type, but I do this to save my chest-of-flowers from overflowing so I stick with ONE COLOR.)

*Alternatively, if you want to modify other farming mechanics (including improved Giant Crops rate, which I have never gotten before this save so I feel you) Farming Made Easy Suite includes flower colors amongst everything else. I haven't used that one, but I have previously used the Fishing and Combat Suites by the same person, and those are excellent.

Buy Tea Set At Winter Star just because I wanted it 😂Also it balances well with several other Winter Star mods that I used to use, some of which work better with things that haven't been updated to 1.6 so I decided not to figure out which ones I still wanted this time around.

Watering Grants XP and Crops Can Wither (what? I like consequences in small doses and also I need that sweet farming XP in Spring 1, what can I say.)

And finally! This has no effect on anything at all in any meaningful way because nothing bad happens if you don't do it, but I absolutely have Auto Fill Pet Bowl installed so they're just. Always nice and full of water.
