I can't stop thinking about a world where The Extinction's ritual was the Y2K Computer Failure, but like all solo rituals, it fell apart.

Avatars of the extinction could be so interesting. I did not care for the extinction when I first was listening to TMA but I’ve realized the potential and I’m a little obsessed
Like imagine, it could be a really calm person. Y’know those depictions of death where they’re super nice and calm because they know everyone dies eventually? that kind of personality except they’re actively looking forward to the end of all life.
It could be one of those doomsday prepper, bunker people. They don’t know they’re an avatar of the extinction, in fact if they knew what it was they’d think they hate it. But deep down they get immense joy from the idea of not only being proven right but being the last person alive and thats why they’re an avatar of the extinction.
Maybe a really discreet avatar of the extinction who seems lovely and relatively normal, maybe a little obsessed with apocalypse stories but nothing more! The reality though is they have romanticized the concepts of society falling, humanity dying, and the world ending to a horrifying degree. You don’t realize how truly in love with these concepts they are until something catastrophic happens and they watch with a look of pure glee.
It could be a poison ivy type person who think plants should grow over all of society. A sentiant A.I! More so a monster made by the extinction, it’s creation stemming from peoples fear of A.I taking over. Or a technology enthusiast who loves the idea of robots taking over the world. There’s just so many fun possibilities and I love it and they could be so insane and cool and I really like the idea of someone being dedicated to the end of everything and just AAHHHH gimme extinction avatars…

What if Dekker was wrong and the emerging fear was not specifically Extinction but Change and Consequences. What if Extinction is part of something bigger that has transferred to the protocol universe in a raw, unrefined form.

It’s that time of the year again. New TMAGP content. Yk what that means.
I have a theory.
Warning for TMAGP season 2 spoilers and TMA spoilers
Okay so. TMAGP 32. (First off, what the FUCK, Jonny.) It feels very Extinction coded. And yes, yes, IK.
“The Fears don’t exist in this universe. They’re all gone!!”
First of all, TMAGP isn’t over so hush, we can’t know for certain. Secondly, there isn’t supposed to be a giant portal connected to the TMA universe AND YET IT EXISTS. And third, if fucking CELIA. RIPLEY. and claw her way out of that portal, so can an eldritch fear entity. So I don’t wanna hear it 💕
Back on track, the episode feels so much like The Extinction and reminded me a lot of MAG 65: Binary, which (while being mainly Spiral) seemed heavily influenced by The Extinction, arguably the first statement we have of its emergence. The corrupted computer and the person inside the computer and all that creepy shit. And that got me thinking.
What if The Extinction did make it into the TMAGP universe?
Stay with me. I’m aware it’s sounds far fetched, and it probably is, but it’s an interesting thought.
In TMA, Jon never really interacted with The Extinction, or any of its statements, outside of maybe one or two occasions. It was mainly Martin.
And how did the Eyepocalypse come to fruition? Jon had to be marked or touched by each Fear, physically or emotionally.
Except Jon was never marked by The Extinction.
And what caused Jon to fully become The Archivist and have so much power within the Eyelocalypse? Completing The Watcher’s Crown. Power that allowed him to smite Avatars and walk through domains unaffected? Allowing him to travel the Eyelocalypse without much danger? But he never was marked by The Extinction, so what power would he have over it in this scenario?
Furthermore, in TMA season 5, all the Fears have more than one related statement. Except The Extinction. Which only has MAG 175: Epoch.
And that’s weird to me.
Also!!! Just like how all the other Fears feed into The End, especially during the Eyepocalypse, wouldn’t, oh I don’t know, the world literally ending, feed directly into The Extinction as well? Therefore strengthening it?
And out of all the Fears, we know the least about The Extinction because it is so new.
So what if, theoretically, The Extinction DID escape the ending of TMA???
Just a thought.

ok so after some thought... i think the domain alice got thrown into was a kind of mashup of flesh/buried/lonely/corruption/extinction
flesh because flesh duh. buried because too close i cannot breathe/need for escape. lonely because of the insidious dependence on a toxic relationship/coping mechanism, and because she was coping with loneliness by deluding herself into imagining a worthwhile connection (you can be lonely even if you aren't alone). corruption because of the twisted and insane love she felt, and the rotting of their corpse. extinction because every one of her hopes disappeared and she was terrified and she gave up trying to fight

the extinction :]
given the extinction stemmed from the end, its avatars are a very interesting case
usually deathly cold like their not so distant (eldritch) relatives, their body temperature can vary wildly depending on the individual and what factor they lean into
on top of that, particular folks representing the fear of a robot takeover appear completely human, but their skin feels metallic to the touch!
most of these guys will act similarly to their predecessors, but some will act a little too normal for it to not put you off

Does the Protocol universe give anyone massive extinction vibes?
Robots/computers taking/replacing humans, people transforming into something new that can't be recognized as human, liminal/destroyed/vacant locations, mentions of Y2K, This "abandoned" boardwalk with husks of "humans" roaming about.
It's giving a world that no longer belongs to mankind.
