What's the deal between Farsight and the Ethereals?

In the initial lore (from older codexes), it was fairly simple; Farsight saw the merit of engaging in values and tactics that were at odds with the tenets of the Greater Good espoused by the Ethereals, particularly inter-caste knowledge sharing and melee combat specialisation. Things that would allow the soldiery, and thus the wider T'au Empire, to be more warlike and defend/expand borders.

This came to a head on the planet Arthas Moloch, where a war with Orks saw the Ethereals under Farsight's protection killed, implicitly in part due to the squabbling between Farsight and said Ethereals. After this war (during which Farsight found the Dawn Blade and fucked up a lot of Orks) he ended up breaking off from the T'au Empire with those loyal to his views to form the Farsight Enclaves; a more militarily focused take on the base Empire.

Overall, it was a decent look at how authoritarian/inflexible thinking and doctrines could create schisms, even in the milder cultures of 40k.

The Kelly era T'au, of course, added to this in a Kelly-esque fashion. It wasn't JUST that the Ethereals didn't like Farsight's views, but ALSO they were hiding info about CHAOS and DAEMONS from the T'au and doing EVIL MIND CONTROL on the T'au and it wasn't just Orks that showed up on Arthas Moloch but DAEMONS that the T'au weren't prepared for because of the aforementioned EVIL MIND CONTROL and DAEMONS killed the Ethereals and Farsight killed them back with the Dawn Blade. After that he confirms his suspicions about the EVIL MIND CONTROL and, when faced with the choice of revealing the EVIL MIND CONTROL to the entire T'au Empire and destroying it all (because the Empire is held together by EVIL MIND CONTROL) or walking away with his loyalists, he chooses to walk away. Because he cares about the T'au as a whole and is BIG HERO. Not one of those ethereals and their EVIL MIND CONTROL.

okay, here is the thing:

making the details of trop!galadriel's story extrimely "lore-accurate" won't work at this point.

in the lore, galadriel is a ruler of eregion before celebrimbor turns on her and then she goes to lothlorien and takes up the rule there, temporarily. then she goes to rivendell to find her husband and they move to belfalas so that she can gather information on sauron and send it to elrond. she disappears during and sometime after the war of the last alliance but then reunites with her husband to attend her daughter's wedding. then she travels a lot, investigating, and only after all that does she settle in lothlorien as the realm's permanent ruler (and fully devotes herself to powering up her realm and opposing sauron even more).

it wouldn't make sense for her to already be settled as the lady of lothlorien anytime soon in the show. the timelines are changed too drastically and trying to align them now would create more problems that would mess up the storytelling itself.

(like, rather than going to temporarily rule lothlorien, it would make sense for trop!galadriel to stay with elrond and prepare for sauron's attack on lindon. rather than going to belfalas, it would make sense for her to go back to numenor. it would work better if she established lothlorien after the sinking of numenor. it would be a neater storytelling.)

her trop story has to be good as its own thing, and i highly doubt that it can be if it sticks to the lore too faithfully. but it should not be an issue, since galadriel's lore has always been convoluted and contradictory, and trop is simply offering its own variation of her mythology.

what's important is that they capture the essence of galadriel's character and role. and no, it's not being the lady of the light.

when it comes to her character, she is defined by her power, knowledge and leadership. she is said to be so powerful that even elrond doesn't fully understand her powers, she knows all about the middle-earth bc of her travels and she always leads.

we know that she rules and is being a commander and keeps an eye on sauron. we know that she is dedicated like no one else to opposing him. we know that she desires power more than anything. in a way, even her resisting the one ring has to do with her refusing to let the ring have power over her.

trop has to tell a story of her fighting the darkness in the middle-earth and within herself, striving towards fulfilling her potential as a powerful being, bc that is the essence of her character. and capturing this essence is more important than adhering to the chronology, imo.

baffin island wolves hang out near the arctic so beepis is used to more *extrime* ways of living and cuz of that is slightly better than the other two at being a wolf, at least at the start (justifying sneeg being better cuz of being the host and playing the game previously). he looks like the biggest wolf but actually is very similar to slarf in size, he just has a very thick coat

rolf is a wolfdog! his former owner didnt know about that when they got him untill rolf grew up to be weirdly big and less dog-like. later when he realized that hes partially a wolf they escaped. which wasnt hard cuz their owner didnt even care much.....

because of being partially a dog rolf is a little smaller and a little more sillay than the other two! theyre still very big for a dog tho

slarf used to be kept in captivity in terrible conditions for some time, which he assumed to be experiments on him (was actually a fur farm or smth). he got his muzzle scars while in there, partially while escaping! he also hurt his eye a little

One of the biggest things that made me aware how desperate zks are ,is completly disregarding aang's trauma or grief. Just for them to say how it is easier for him to forgive then katara in TSR. Because supposedly his opressors are long dead and he doesn't have a target to fuel his anger anymore. Oh and he wasn't there to witness it. So let me make a point. You are the avatar unwillingly, you were told that the war is coming and they need you at 12 old. You ran away with the thought that you would be separated with your master who is also your father figure who also is the only person that understands what you need. You had an acccident that puts you to comma for 100 years. You woke up, met cool friends but you are still willing to go back to your home after hearing that your people might be extinct. You see your home but its empty and kind of destroyed. Then with innocent chase after lemur reality hits you. You see your Master's skeleton in firebenders corpsses. After the avatar's outbreak it hits you that you might be the last air bender. You not only feel anger, pain ,sadness but also guilt that you not only failed your master's wishing but also your whole nation. Aang litterly has a fundament to become the villain, its typical origin of the "fallen angel" story. Hell it even pallarels jet's and hama's story because they too are angry only at the whole nation. I am asking once again how in the world it is easier for him to forgive then katara. Aang wouldnt even take revenge out of gyatso but out of his grief for his all people that counted on him and destroyed culture that he loved. But he didn't, not because it was easier for him but because he is extrimely mature emotionally and was taught that way by the monks and gyatso maybe. He really could do the same to the fire nation, he is the avatar, he is capable of decimating towns and mountains. But he didn't because of these reasons i pointed out and saying it is easier for him and that Zuko understands Katara's pain more is just such a desperate move that its disgusting to even think about.

As a continuation of my previous post (yes, I have more to say), here are some products of my suffering

So the thing is: I like the costumes the characters wear, but I find them unpractical (sometimes EXTRIMELY unpractical).

Okay, I understand the main heroine -- she never felt that the cloth she wears may save or end her life, but the Cerera's residents?

Okay, I think I understand Decian. He's not the priority of killers and must look human for this is his obligation to be a shard of normality to the main heroine.

Okay, the fact that the members of the most paranoid family ever (yes, Atrau, I'm talking about you) wear fabric cloth with little amount of protection plates that open parts of their bodies could be explained by the level of technology. If they had something like automatically activated magnetic shields, there would be no need in wearing armor. If their weapons are capable to be folded and hidden under a plate or as a bracelet, there is no need to wear a holster on the belt. But none of the options above was demonstrated, so we come to the conclusion they don't have anything similar. And if they don't, why they leave themselves open to danger? Considering the background of this family and how much they care about safety (as an example: only two servants in a non-little mansion and one old cook, who has to check every dish for poison; few people know the very location of their home and so on and so on) the fact that they ignore the first line of defend -- their own bodies -- is at least strange.

Okay, I can try to understand Lais. (maybe) If we take for granted he's the family's "mad son", who loves adrenaline and despises caution, then it's possible for him to dress as he does, to get more thrill, more sensations from battle and to show his enemies he doesn't fear them, doesn't hide from them.

But, Ayen, my love, what are yoU weAriNg?! What are those tails coming from his shoulders? This adds elegance to the outfit, I get it, but this is a terrible decision if we're talking about dealing with danger. Those two pieces of transparent fabric bear no practical use, on the contrary, they may get tangled underfoot, they may be caught by an enemy or snag on something, when the freedom of movement is vital. And I'm not talking about the costume from roulette. Don't get me wrong, it looks incredible on him, but it's even more unpractical. The basic one at least have some plates that could be made out of durable material and protect the chest. He is fashionable. And he looks excellent. But my point is: it would work if he was some kind of an office boss, a celebrity, a simple wealthy person, NOT a middle child in a paranoid family which awaits betrayal or assassination attempt from every corner (let's admit, for a good reason), where every member have to be a separate combat unit on his own. In Cerera's world it doesn't work.

So, keeping in mind that they venture forward to variety of dangers, probably chased and having no idea where this will lead them, I tried to dress them into something that would prove useful in the wilds.

Did I succeed? No. Not fully.

And who was the main problem? Yes, Ayen, you again.

The problem I encountered was next: the cloth in any work that has a visual aspect is a way to speak about a character without words. Put our brothers in one row in the same pose and you still will be able to tell some traits of their characters. Ayen covers most of his skin and looks the most elegant from whole male side of family. The Cerera's style is minimalistic. Those 3 traits had to be kept. And as you probably noticed, in his case I was totally out of ideas. My mind simply couldn't come up with an idea of a graceful suit that would provide protection, have place for weapons, medicine and other necessities and at the same time be ordered, harmonious, formal in a way, with minimum details. I had the most tries at that one and didn't like any of it.

Is my final choice practical? Not really. I wasn't able to imagine something to replace those tails I was so mad about. So in my options (those to the right, they suit him more) there are also coattails, only this time they start from the waist. Why it's so hard to get rid of them? My theory is that those tail-elements lengthen the silhouette, which in its turn makes the impression of strictness and composure, self-discipline -- every three is important for the character. Or I'm just not creative enough -- could be also.

Is it just me or does he looks more mature when those tails start from waist, not shoulders?

Okay so I don't know exactly-exactly what happened in the US with Donald Trump, but as an Israeli, some of the reactions I see give me strong Yitzhak Rabin vibes. "I wish he was shot but-" no you don't. "I think it would be best if it hit him but-" no it wouldn't. First of all, you don't get to decide who's life "deserves" to be taken away, you're not Elokim (and that's comming from a secular). Not to mention that this is exactly what Western antisemites are currently constantly doing to us as well. Second of all, you have no idea what type of political resonanse that type of shit creates. When I was in highschool still I got to hear people on Yitzhak Rabin memorial day talk about how it shouldn't have happened BUT "it's a good thing that it did", because "he put us all in danger", because "we wouldn't survive under future decisions of his", because blah blah blah blah

And I'm not one to comment on politics, regardless of anything what I see most is just how that affects the people. Our society has never been the same after Yitzhak Rabin was assasinated, it created a permanent void between the Israeli left and right and lead to a condition in which extrimism thrives and anything else is lost between the chairs.

And I get that these are way more common in the US, but I still think it's safe to say it's not something that you want to see.

Because the US is getting extrimist enough as it is.

I find it so funny whenever I see the talking points of people "concerned" about Islam in the West. "Oh these dogmatic religious zealots want everyone to live according to their holy book", "oh these savages treat women as second class citizens", "oh these monsters want to kill all queer people", my brother in nonexistent Christ, you are describing the western conservatives. Entire British political establishment made discriminating against trans people their main issue. Relasi yang bukan hanya tentang mampu mencintai, tetapi juga tentang kemampuan untuk hadir secara emosional, menavigasi kebutuhan psikis maupun mental masing-masing, serta mengembangkan dialog yang memungkinkan keterbukaan tanpa rasa takut akan penghakiman atau pengabaian atau bahkan perubahan sikap extrim yang berdampak pada berjaraknya keterikatan emosional.
