At the end you can have a look at what we can expect in April with a MDL link and a link for a trailer (if avaible).
This is guaranteed to contain spoilers!
1. 25 Ju, Akasaka de 🇯🇵 (2/10)
They were fellow students and now they have to play in a BL together. One of them is two years older and popular. For the other one, this is his first big role and he needs it, so he is determined to to anything he needs to do, to be a good actor. Even when this means to find a partner and fall in love to be able to play the role perfectly. Why not try to be lovers with your co-star. All for the sake of the series of course.
2. Blue Boys 🇰🇷 (2/4)
This short series is quite good. I saw the first episode by chance and I was hooked, but lost it again, because I couldn't track it on MDL. Now it is up there. I hope these two can resolve their missunderstanding, with talking! But they are too hungry for each other...
3. Boys Be Brave! 🇰🇷 (2/8)
Enemies to lovers, but different. Jinwoo likes Kisub and Kisub knows this. But while Kisub gives his heart away to every person who hits on him and can't really say No to anyone, Jinwoo loves to build up his wall and hide behind a strong No. Their worlds collide, when Kisub moves in with Jinwoo, if he likes it or not. Great first episodes!
4. Cityboy_Log 🇰🇷 (12/?)
They are back and unhinged like before! Jihan and Jaejun met after a while because they were busy and it seems they had some catching up to do the night before. We get some daily vlogging, some cuteness and some jealousy, which wasn't that cute. But they are finally back and I am happy. The acting is still very good. There is no deeper story behind, just some idols, models and actors falling in love with each other and theit daily lifes.
5. Deep Night 🇹🇭 (3/8)
his is everything I was expecting, so it didn't disappoint, I guess. To be honest, I watch this for First. I guess he would have chemistry with a stick, soooo this is nice. And I hope the story, at least stays like this and won't get worse... Update: This show is a mess 😂 there is so much going on all at once and at the same time nothing really happens? It is so confusing, yet very entertaining. But Wela, my dear, it is totally okay to be pissed if one fucks with you, while you are so drunk you can't remember shit the next day... Just a thought.
6. Kare no Iru Seikatsu 🇯🇵 (3/8)
Kazuhito has no girlfriend and the ones he had, broke up with him, because they felt he likes someone else... Who might that be?... The story is simple, I guess? (But perhaps not that simple... The preview for ep 3 looks interesting.) Childhood friends are forced to move in together after spending time apart. One is a little bit naive and is trying to find out why girls breaking up with the most charming and handsome guy he knows and the latter is in love with the naive one and in the end they have their happy ending. I like it. I want to see their growth.
7. Love Is Like A Cat 🇰🇷 (10/12)
Who thought this was a good idea? Who wrote this? Who said cut at the end of scenes? Who thought this is be the way Mew should act? I cringe so hard and not in a funny way. This series is just bad. I keep watching because of this little bean. But I had to skip so many scenes in today's episodes, because it was just so bad! And I can't figure out if Mew just didn't want to be there and act or if that is the way the director wanted him to act... But the acting is bad. Bad choices everywhere. And the dialogues? Cringe... Why would a bean like Dae Byeol fall for Uno? Nope...
8. My Stand-In 🇹🇭 (1/12)
Okay, hear me out. I watch this for Poom and for Poom only. But the story lookes interesting, it was quite intriguing. I don't know why, but I cringed a bit too much at some scenes. But Poom is beautiful and that is all I care about. Yes, I can be this shallow!
9. Only Boo 🇹🇭 (4/12)
The cringe was so strong with this one this week! I had to pause multiple times, but at the same time I enjoyed it so much! Moo is so unhinged and I love him! But please! Don't let Moo's cousin become a possible love interest for Kang. I know we got this dream sequence this week, but there is something in the air between Shone and him... and I don't like it. The second couple... I felt really sad for them this week. Beeing in love with your best friend is never easy...
10. Unknown 🇹🇼 (12/12)
The story about found family, childhood trauma and struggling topped with a lovestory between "brothers". They aren't really brothers so I really don't care and just enjoy this forbidden and hurtful lovestory to the fullest. This is exactly what I hoped for! The longing, tension and hurting is so good! It is the aftermath of the shooting and Qian is still dealing with his emotions and his feelings for Yuan. The love between them is real and strong, but Qian is afraid and can't just let his heart decide over the head, yet. He loves Yuan, but is afraid what that means for them and especially for Yuan's future. And yet he held him back. He was the one reaching out in the end! I have said enough about them and this first part of ep 11 in my post. I love them. My heart belongs to them. I wish we had more developement between these two as a couple, but I still love them and I forgive this show the rush in the end, because I love it so much.
11. Word of Honor 🇨🇳 (20/36)
Those two flirt a lot and are a married couple. Everyone knows that. And I love and enjoy that! Overall this is such a fun watch and the different sects and intrigues are sometimes a little bit confusing, but interesting. I love this world of martial arts and I love how protective Wen Kexing is over Zhou Zishu.
Finished in April
Series
My Strawberry Film 🇯🇵
This is what I call a love triangle. And the fact that the screenwriters worked for Eien No Kinou or Jack o'Frost promised some heartbreak and teenage angst. And they delivered. I really like this series. And I felt so many emotions, especially for Ryo. And I really loved the ending. No fake relationship and no unrealistic confessions, just some teenagers in love and being friends. And I think Hiraku was such a sweet friend in this last episode. He apologized and he finally recognized Ryo's feelings for him. And I believe they stay friends in the future. It might be difficult, but a good friendship is worth fighting for. It has so much to do with respect and love for each other. It is a solid 8 out of 10 for me.
Koi wo Suru nara Nidome ga Joto 🇯🇵
The story about highschool sweethearts, who didn't have the chance to enjoy their young love, because of horrible family backgrounds. Their story is devastating and I am happy they found their way back to each other. The story was good, the acting was good, I am in love with Furuya Robin, which is nice, and the side characters were special (shoutout to Yuto!). I wish there was more "passion" from Miyata, but I guess it is due to his character. Overall it was a good watch and I enjoyed it! A good 8 out of 10 for me.
Jazz For Two 🇰🇷
I love bls about music and about traumatic pasts. The second couple has my heart. I just love them coming together. Usually I hate this bully-trope, but with them, I kinda enjoyed it. Perhaps because Jooha always looked like a hurting puppy. Overall the homophobia in this one is strong and I think it is interesting to see them deal with their own feelings. Internal and external homophobia is such a big thing in all their stories and I wish they had more time to show the developement from hating themselves to loving the other person and themselves. But in my opinion they made a good story and a good show. I like it very much. And what was that kiss in the end? Wow! A good 9 out of 10 for.
To Be Continued 🇹🇭
I really like this one! I read some comments that the reason they never got together was just stupid, but from their perspective I can understand why they reacted how they reacted. They were young and unsure what to do and what all of this meant for them and their friendship. What I liked about the show was the present and past scenes. We learned so much about their past and the scenes fitted perfectly. It was a really good series and I am glad I waited to binge it. Guess I come back to this one from time to time. Rewatch value is there. And those two have really good chemistry! A good 9 out of 10 for me.

Dropped in April
We are 🇹🇭
I dropped this after the first half of the first episode. There are a few reasons for that. First, I need some shows to binge on lonely sundays. And second, I just don't feel like watching this one. It was so quirky for me. Not my kinf od humor right now.
Looking forward to in April

Random Thoughts about Century of Love ep 1:
First of all, I have to say when I saw the first 5 minutes of the series, I felt like it has the same vibe as To Sir, With Love. Turns out I wasn't entirely wrong because both series have the same director and screenwriter. You can really see they have a unique hand. I'm not really good at talking about the art of filming and it's harder to talk it in another language than my own, but I feel like their type of cinematography is easily recognizable: the color or the light used are very vibrant. It gives an oneiric atmosphere especially when the story was in the past.
So San has lost his beloved love Vad / Wat and he has made a deal with the goddess Niwa to be able to wait for her reincarnation within a century. In exchange, he is afflicted by the power of the five shades stone each night (at midnight). He has to find her before the century end otherwise he will die in atrocious pain. He has been really patient, but unfortunately for him Vad / Wat hasn't reincarnated in a woman. Her reincarnation is a man named Vee and he has been attracted to San from the minute he saw him.
This first episode is here to set the plot and the characters. I'm not crazy about San. I understand why it must be complicated to discover that your long lost love is not the same as she was before. I guess, he never imagined that his love would be a man. I think it's going to take him a while to fully accept the change. Even if he already has erotic dreams with Vee. He would have preferred if he was a woman.
On the opposite side, I'm already fully in love with Vee. He is mischievous and seems to be an optimistic. The story may prove me wrong later, but I'm always drawn to people who smile a lot. We know that some of them hide the worst scars, so it's just based on what I've seen from this character in this first episode. Vee clearly has no problem being attracted to a man he has just met. Good for him.
The rest of the "shaman" family descendants are kinda amusing. We'll see what role they will bring. They made me think a lot of Tinn's family in Laws of Attraction (again same director and screenwriter).
I'm also really happy to see again See Parattakorn who plays Ton, Vee's friend. I really like his acting game in Laws of Attraction. I wonder if he is only going to play the friend or if he has a bigger role in the story.
Also, is Trai the fiancé of Vad/Wat will be reincarnated too and bring some drama into all of this?! I saw on MDL that the actor is listed with two names, so I may not be wrong and I can't wait to see what role he will have.
Thankfully, we'll have a second episode tomorrow, so I will see where it goes.
#thai series#thai bl#bl series#bl drama#my thoughts#random thoughts#century of love#century of love the series#episode 1#i'm not fully into the story but I rarely fall in love with a series with the first episode#Okay I think the different writing for Vad or Watt is because of the difficulty of translating names from Thai to “English”

Why Playboyy characters can't let me go
Seriously, I keep asking myself again and again why the actors and roles have such a grip on me (first of all: TALENT!) and I have come across another thesis...
All the characters have full first and last names, plus their nicknames. Even if they aren't mentioned even once in the show, they are listed and present in MDL (much to the delight of my fanfic writer heart, wohoo!) Now you might be thinking "So what, they have names then, the fuck, chill?" Babes. Nope. Here it comes We already know from interviews that Phop's character is based on a real character and that View himself was extremely emotionally affected by his story. My guess is it was similar with other characters.
Not that they are all based on real people, but rather that they all have far more history than we were shown in the show. Because as I watched the show (again and again) I noticed how damn real the characters seem in their motivations and decisions.
None of them seem plot-driven, rather the plot develops around them because of their differences and personal stories that interweave. It doesn't feel like "Character X, who has the role of best friend, mental support and otherwise just helps Y to get together with Z."
For almost all of the actors, Playboyy was their first leading role, whether Korn (Zouey), Fay (Porsche), Aun (Aob) or Jack (Soong), to name but a few.
Yet they all seemed natural and complex in their roles, like they knew every detail about their character. They act, like they're 100% confident it what the character is doing and why. Things like Jump's disabled mother (who is only mentioned once, but with a panic that I don't think Jump made her up) make the whole thing so much more detailed than it already is. Nuth's mental state of mind, especially the part of his past with a therapist or therapy (again, only mentioned once), is another example of how much thought has been put into the characters' backstories, what's for and what's against and why. Each character has all these little individual traits and details, habits that are not elaborated on in the show, but that make the characters seem so much more alive. Everyone has their own story, goals and pasts. What I'm saying, screenwriter and director of Playboyy… when there is so much plot around them all, that now is just sitting there, chilling… special ep/season 2 when?

asian dramas watched in 2024 data!
since i did smth similar for movies, i figured i might as well look at the stats for the series i watched in 2024 too since i logged them on mdl :)
details + reviews under cut !
interesting stuff... i didnt end up including ongoing series/'currently watching'. i hadn't actually finished a gl in 2024 (have since bc pluto finished on saturday) but i did drop two. one was 23.5 because it ended up boring me and the other was petrichor. im sorry women
the production year one is also interesting. obviously w/ bls they became more popular post-2020. and from what ive seen the ratio of qls to gen series produced has shifted dramatically over the years as well (only like one or two announced for 2025? lol). but it's funny to me that there's a dip in 2024 for me... if i were to make a chart though you'd see that the amount of 2024 series i dropped is way higher lol. i guess i got pickier?
top series ratings + reviews
*disclaimer: my rating system is based on how much i liked or enjoyed the series when i watched it. i don't come at it from a technical/film critic approach (though quality often impacts my enjoyment)
1. Moonlight Chicken (2023) — ★ 9.5
definitely my favorite so far — also one of the first thai bls i watched afaicr. i remember my school president was one of the first, and i liked fourth's acting a lot so when i saw that he was in this i figured i'd give it a try as well (i think it was also here where i discovered the whole cp thing. i was like why are the same actors (fourth + gemini) playing a different couple in a totally different series?? lol).
i wasn't necessarily expecting anything mind-blowing, but it was so much more sincere and impactful than i would've thought. ive since learned this is sort of par for the course for the director (in terms of the sincerity of his works), but this series still stands out the most to me. idk if its the multitude of relationships that take center stage (jim + li-ming, jim + wen, jim + gaipa, li-ming + heart, wen + alan, jim + leng and gaipa + leng even. and even wen + li-ming!) — every single one of them feels so sincere and heartwarming (or heartbreaking) and realistic. idk how to explain it's just so touching. i was especially drawn to li-ming + jim's relationship. fourth really did do a fantastic job in this role.
i also think it's funny looking back bc i like, didn't even give gaipa + alan's actors a second glance on the first watch lol. random men that would later sucker punch me in the gut
the only reason i didn't give this series ten stars is bc of my beef w product placement. lmao
2. Only Friends (2023) — ★ 9.0
if a show doesn't have product placement there's like a 50% increased chance i'll like it better. that being said i think i mostly just like this show bc it's like. chaotic and hot. i like when characters are messy :)
honestly i think the main reason this is so high on the list is just due to ray (kt's character). smth about him draws me in. maybe i sort of related to him in a way. maybe it's bc he's a bit of a pathetic wet cat. i find his psyche rly interesting... just like how he thinks and the habits he has, most all stemming from his past trauma and mental health problems. like everything he does you can pinpoint the reason for. hes an alcoholic bc his mom was and died in front of him. he keeps drinking because he feels worthless because she always hated him, his dad never showed affection. for that same reason he thinks that buying people things is his only way to show affection, doesn't realize the problems with that. idk ive already spent so much time thinking about him i just like him a lot (doesnt hurt that he's played by kt)
otherwise... i do find the other characters + relationships rly interesting as well (just not as much as ray). on first watch boston pissed me off so much for obvious reasons (stirring shit for seemingly no reason), but on rewatching he became a lot more interesting to me. possibly bc on rewatching i can focus more on the themes, and boston encapsulates a lot of them. trying to understand his motivations leads to a lot more sympathy on my part — and i think he didn't deserve what he got, since the underlying reason most of the characters seemed to dissaprove of him is due to his non-monagamy. like, he did shitty things, but it really isn't fair that mew forgave top but not him. i know that's not how life works a lot of them time and there's reasons mew acted that way he did, but doesn't mean i like them 🙄 anyway i could get into all that more (already have rly) but this isn't the time
gave it 9 stars cuz i just enjoyed it a lot. themes and narratives and men fucking each other etc. but i didn't find the ending super satisfying (which is arguably the point but doesn't make me rly like it)
3. A Tale of 1000 Stars (2021) — ★ 9.0
(ok im just now realizing on mdl it doesn't say "a thousand" just "thousand" which i assume could maybe mean "one thousand". ive been calling it atoats this whole time should it just be atots or. atoots. ato1000s? help)
im gonna be honest, going into this series i didn't expect to like it very much. the description sounded a bit odd — like, a guy gets a heart transplant and suddenly decides he needs to live his donor's life or smth? and the gender of it all made me squint. from that description i was concerned it was going to be a thing where like, he's suddenly attracted to men because he got a straight woman's heart or smth lmao (which. i guess wasn't technically disproven now that i think about it but it's not spoken of like that at all)
but it was rly good! rly sweet and cute without being too cutesy (my current gripe with a lot of shows recently aired...). it's another series from the same director as mlc which i think is why it turned out so well. i think the focus on the community is rly important and heartwarming/satisfying to see. im noticing that most of my favorite bls are actually like this (the show focuses on more than just the main couple's romantic relationship, including familial or community or platonic relationships and their themes as well).
it also wasn't quite as fantastical as it was made out to be. i mean it was a little, like seeing torfun/the heart donor in his dreams or wtv was silly, but it wasn't like... ~ooooh magic heart~
i like the messages as well, not just the community stuff but tian's personal growth as well. gives me a little hope for myself and others yk...
anyway 9 stars bc i liked it a lot, but again product placement was pretty annoying and there were a few bits that felt a little too staged or silly for me
4. The Eclipse (2022) ★ 8.5
i dont really have many excuses for this one. it's like arguably not very high quality and there's a lot of moments that feel pretty silly/staged. However i still liked it a lot. sort of became a bit of a comfort show, it's just kind of cathartic and i really like the relationship/dynamic btwn akk + aye. codependency my beloved. the plot might be more standard and there's a lot of tropes, but it does interest me a lot, and i like the themes and growth the characters experience.
akk's role is fascinating to me... i like characters that are under pressure and do horrible things as a result. i liked his struggles with this, and the guilt and consequences he had to come to terms with. i think the arc of his character growth was realistic and satisfying, i.e. he didn't suddenly become cured of all his problems and it took the whole series for him to learn to voice his feelings. plus first did a wonderful job sobbing and crying in this role 👍 i am number 1 men crying fan
aye as a character is Slightly less intriguing to me compared to akk, but i still like him a lot. at the beginning of the series he's consumed by vitriol and his desire to find justice for his uncle, messes with akk in response to being scolded, is generally uncaring of everything but the mystery he's trying to unfold. but then akk starts to grow on him and you can see the... idk the care seeping back into his bones. like he'd become this shell whose only purpose was vengeance and suddenly he's not a shell anymore because he's feeling something else besides anger and depressed apathy. okay maybe hes just as intriguing as akk in his own way.
anyway i like how they fit together and the codependency and Feelings they convey just hooked me i guess
8.5 stars for reasons stated — enjoyed it a lot, especially the relationship dynamic, themes, and character growth; no product placement(!) yippee; but from a technical standpoint not as high quality
5. The Warp Effect (2022) ★ 8.5
again also enjoyed this more than i expected to? started watching cuz i heard it had some kink themes but i got rly into the story/mystery as a whole.
i think it had a good balance of humor and sincerity. i think the main actor was also really good in this role, managed to present the character in an endearing way despite him being a bit of an idiot. i also really liked the main relationship (alex + jean), they had a rly good dynamic for that brief moment in hs and then the subsequent fallout was really intriguing, interesting to see the pieces slowly put together.
im not sure really how i feel about the kink representation, in this case it was mainly pet play. it's not my cup of tea personally, so like i don't fully understand it, but i feel like the relationship between the characters involved sort of frustrated me a little. like it didn't seem very healthy and by the end i wasn't necessarily feeling all that much better about it. also didn't love the humorous kazoo music associated w the pet play like it's not... supposed to be funny. idk :/
overall mixed opinion but i liked the plot and the characters enough to give it 8.5 stars. even if the ending was a little weird
in terms of other favorite series, honorary mentions to let free the curse of taekwondo (2024) and not me (2021), those would probably be no. 6 and 7
least favorite (completed) series
has to be 2gether (2020). i respect it for its formative role in the thai bl industry and i loved fong obviously (only bitch in that show w a braincell) but overall i just. didn't like it. can't rly pinpoint why, maybe it just felt a little too ridiculous or the plot didn't appeal to me or whatever but i ended up giving it 6.5 stars
technically i gave Blacklist fewer stars (6.0) but it's a bit more complicated than that. i gave it that rating because of the last two episodes — up until then i actually really liked it. but then the fucking, like, plot twist of the teacher being some kind of mentally tortured lesbian preying on high schoolers (who is then like? forgiven by said high schoolers???) was just. bad. hated that, felt stupid and out of nowhere and rife with problems. which is sad bc i liked the series up until then :/
dropped series
i dropped (i.e. watched at least one episode of and then didn't finish) a lot of series as well (12 total, most from 2024 perhaps bc the gaps inbetween currently airing shows gives me more time to lose interest), and i do have opinions about several of those.
The Trainee (2024)
i actually rated this one because i watched 11/12 of the episodes lol, but technically count it as dropped since i didnt finish it. i gave it 5.5 stars. not sure where to start really. i honestly did like it well enough up until the last few episodes — i liked the main character + couple at first, i liked the setting/film production company setting. but then the main couple started feeling kind of dry, and i didn't rly like the way the creators handled their relationship after jane found out ryan liked him. just felt sort of needlessly complex and vague, and generally uninteresting.
my main issue was the side couple bamhee and uh. tae? like their whole arc was just. not an arc. they broke up bc they werent working and bamhee liked a woman, and then in the end she decides actually nvm she wants to get back together with her boyfriend? leaving judy high and dry? like what was even the point of all that. felt kind of offensive tbh. rly did not like that and didnt watch the last ep as a result
Tonhon Chonlatee (2020)
like. i wasnt even gonna watch this bc i heard it was bad but i mustve gotten especially bored one day or smth. i think kt was cute in it from what i saw + i liked uhh. miriam. but other than that. i rly did not like tonhon from the start he just irritated me and seemed like a general prick. did not understand why chon liked him and rly wanted him to get over him lol. and he kept doing shit that made me want to yell at chon to stick up for himself. some of the humor made me a little uncomfy as well.
i dropped it after episode 6 bc like. the absolute whiplash i got from tonhon's complete change in opinion was. not good. like it made no sense to me and was way too abrupt a change in personality/thought processes/etc. just like immediately put me off so i stopped watching it lol. oh well!
Summer Night (2024)
not too much to say other than the plot started to annoy me, felt sorta insubstantial, and i was starting to kind of hate the main girl's behavior lol. i watched the first 4 eps but dropped it after that. sort of sad bc i rly liked a lot of the cinematography/imagery in the first couple eps
Kidnap (2024)
i got up to episode 6 and i think maybe partway through 7? but i wasnt super invested and some of the character choices + relationship dynamic sort of annoyed me. and then there was that like. scene in the car where they were acting way too exaggeratedly cutesy and i was just like yeah no. not for me. stopped watching in the middle of the scene lol
My Love Mix-Up (2024)
i like fourth as an actor a lot and he did a good job in this as well but i stopped watching after episode 7 (maybe partway into 8?) also because it was getting too cutesy (to clarify when i say cutesy i mean in the sense where a scene's so clearly staged to be cute that it feels ingenuine). honestly i liked the side couple's characters/actors as well but idk. maybe i dropped it also bc i watched the original and really liked it so i was sort of comparing it in my head. idk
23.5 (2024)
i dropped this after episode 6 i think mostly bc it was just starting to bore me. seems to be a trend w most 2024 high school shows. i liked view's character a lot but the others i was sort of nitpicky about. ongsa sort of frustrated me at times and the others just felt a little flat maybe. but overall i just dropped it out of boredom
Hidden Agenda (2023)
story behind this one is i started watching the first episode way back in like. april or may? and then never finished it for wtv reason (i think maybe my friend mentioned the end was unsatisfying or smth). but then w the actors being in thk i was like well maybe i should check them out in something else. and this was within the past few months. so i started watching it and it was pretty cute, but after the main couple realized their feelings or got together or wtv i just lost interest again. i guess this is a trend, like once they get together the story kind of feels like it falls flat in a lot of series. i did like the main actors but not enough to keep me interested
the other series that i dropped i only watched one or two episodes of so dont have as much of an opinion
that's pretty much it! although i feel like i should give a shoutout to The Shipper (2020) as Series that Broke Me the Most. legit hardest i cried all year maybe ever. i had 0 warning
we'll see how things go in 2025! currently im watching 4 airing series (The Heart Killers, Perfect 10 Liners, ThamePo, + Ossan's Love Thailand as of yesterday) but who knows if i'll stick with all of them to the end, esp. given recent trends. the only one im like 95% sure ill stick with thru the end is thk. in 2025 theres a few series im excited for but i suspect my interest in thai qls in general might drop at some point... remains to be seen!

Crossing another series off the list this week: we got the finale of Candy Color Paradox/Ameiro Paradox. Thoughts!
I know -- because I am one of them -- that there was vocal concern about the quality of the acting by the leads of Kimura Keito (Onoe) and Yamanaka Jyutaro (Kaburagi). They were definitely the weakest actors of the entire troupe that cast this show. Besides the very obvious Izuka Kenta, who outacted, like, the trees in his outdoor scenes, even the actors who played the guys’ colleagues at their tabloid newspaper demonstratively outperformed the two leads.
All this being said -- in my past reviews, I admitted to having a weak heart for Onoe and Kaburagi, and I still totally feel that way! I ABSOLUTELY felt like a soccer mom on the sidelines, cheering these two awkward dopes along their journey. I don’t know! I wish I had read the manga for canon background, because I kinda wonder if the awkwardness of their lack of experience, particularly with Kimura’s acting, maybe lent itself an authenticity to the character of Onoe that may have been reflected in the manga?
I have no idea, and I don’t read the forums at MDL, where I believe a lot of this discussion was taking place. But in any case, for me, it was kind of this practice of the guys stumbling around in the first place, figuring out their language together, working individually on their process of confessions, that I honestly loved about this show and the storyline, and it did truly keep me coming back. I really thought their back and forth was sweet.
To me, their miscommunications weren’t as frustrating as, say what went down in Individual Circumstances, where clearly, the storyline would have been solved in a sec if the guys just TALKED. I did say in my review of IC that I happen to appreciate the trope of miscommunication, because I think it’s more relative to Asian cultures than Western viewers might relate to.
But in the case of CCP, I think what I saw in the script was just a simple matter of growth. Kabu needed advice from older and wiser people (maybe not wiser in the case of Izuka’s character, but yadda whatever) to recognize that Onoe’s need was to have simple and direct messages aimed at him. And I thought it was really cute that Kabu challenged Onoe at the end to finally state his (Onoe’s) own feelings into words, which funnily, Onoe hadn’t done the entire series. He himself thought he was communicating clearly -- but they both just needed to SAY THEIR WORDS to seal the deal.
I happened to appreciate the awkward lovey scenes. They were so awkward -- but again, I wonder, was it meant to be that way? Who knows. But that was more heat than I could have expected from this show, AT ALL, so honestly, I appreciate its placement. Onoe’s clearly an awkward dude ANYWAY, so might as well make the love hotel scenes that way.
Final thought (and then one footnote***): I appreciated that the final episode focused solely on the pairing, and not on a case. I loved that. I loved that the script gave the guys 23 minutes to resolve themselves without a distraction. I thought that was compassionate and generous, and a lovely touch.
I wouldn’t HIGHLY recommend this as a must-watch, but if you have the time for something fun and light, with two cuties figuring out EVERRRRRRYTHING, then go for it. I’m glad I watched this one!
***Feel free to skip this, but just wanted to say that it’s clear that Yamanaka’s agency/group (M!LK) and Kimura’s agency (Exile Tribe/LDH-Love Dream Happiness) were trying to make lightning strike twice -- three times in the case of Exile, as Yagi Yusei and Machida Keita have done BL wonders for that agency. I THINK that Yamanaka was M!LK’s first BL actor, but Sano Hayato, the lead for M!LK, is quite a successful actor with significant roles in at least two previous evening doramas (including a non-BL show with Machida). So yeah, I believe the casting for Candy Color Paradox was done to intentionally expand a stable of actors. I just don’t think Yamanaka and Kimura were ready for this script, but I think they did their best.
#candy color paradox#ameiro paradox#onoe x kaburagi#kaburagi x onoe#kimura keito#yamanaka jyutaro#it's over!

Monthly likes/dislikes
❣️ Light On Me - this show captured my heart and owns everything that I am dsjfhkd 😭 I love everything from the production quality to the pacing and the acting - all the characters are adorable and don’t even get me started on Shinwoo dhfjkdl 🥺 One of the best korean bls so far for sure.
❣️ The Best Story - This really took me by surprise because I never expected a show like this to happen, let alone for it to be so well done. I’m still trying to figure out the purpose of this as a project lol bc it’s kind of random but either way I really liked it! The acting was good & War was killing it as always👌🏻 I just wish it didn’t have such a cliffhanger ending. But maybe there’s more to come...
❣️ Don’t Say No Special ep - I really liked it and it made me super excited for Don’t Say No!!! 💕
👎🏻 Y-Destiny - I have to put it on this list again because the finale was a crime jkddsdf. It was a huge cringefest and I feel very bad for the actors being put through this..... It was pretty bad.

At the end you can have a look at what we can expect in January with a MDL link and a link for a trailer (if avaible).
This is guaranteed to contain spoilers!
1. 1000 Years old (2/13 on Gaga - Thai)
Well the first episodewas really just to get to know the characters and their group-dynamic. I am not complaining. I think the acting wasn't that bad, the mains are kinda cute and the story... we'll have to see. There were fake teeth as a cliffhanger for the second episode, so I can't wait.
2. Anti Reset (5/10 on Gaga - Taiwanese)
The premise is promising and I love how obvisiously attracted both are to each other. At least thhis is what I want to think at this point. The story about the AI Ever Nine who turns the life of an emotionless professor upside down has a really nice start. I guess I like it.
3. Cherry Magic (11/12 on Viu - Thai)
I love the japanese version and I try to not compare those two with each other. And I really like this version. I love TayNew together and the chemistry is so chemistrying. Even though I don't like GMMTV and the japanese network for their contract and copy right shit, I appreciate the english subtitles on Viu so we international fans still can enjoy the show. And I do enjoy it so much!
4. Cityboy_Log (11/? on Youtube - Korean)
Soon-to-be Idols, actors and models vlog their days of photo shoots and meetups and how they fall in love with each other. It is surprisingly good and the acting is excellent. It really feels like a "real" vlog and that is what we are all here for. I really enjoy those four men on my screen.
5. Dead Friend Forever (9/12 on iQiyi - Thai)
The story is so much more than I thought and I am positively surprised. It's a very complex story that is unravelled piece by piece and I like it. Most of the characters I really can't stand and I appreciate the series for it. I wish them all the worst! But I didn't expect to see Ta's naked ass on my screen... but I don't complain, he has a nice ass.
6. My Strawberry Film (2/8 on Gaga - Japanese)
This is what I call a love triangle. And the fact that the screenwriters worked for Eien No Kinou or Jack o'Frost is promising some heartbreak and teenage angst. I am looking forward to it. The acting is good, the story for me interesting.
7. Perfect Propose (5/6 on Gaga - Japanese)
A story about childhood friends who promised to marry each other when they're old and then lost sight of each other. But it happens that Kai finds Hiro and starts living with him and helping him sleep with a hand-job. This came out of the blue, but I am not complaining.
8. Sukiyanen Kedo Do Yaro ka (7/10 on Gaga - Japanese)
Love at first sight and a confession in the first episode. I hate the MDL comment section, saying Soga isn't pretty, and having a not so good looking actor playing that role seems interesting. What is wrong with people? First of all: He is damn pretty and second: Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I liked the first episode and I am looking forward to the next one.
9. Unknown (2/12 on Youku, Taiwanese)
The story about found family, childhood trauma and struggling topped with a lovestory between "brothers". They aren't really brothers so I really don't care and just enjoy this forbidden and hurtful lovestory to the fullest. I liked the first episodes and want to see more!
Finished in February
Series
Love for Love's Sake
How? How am I supposed to move on from this show? How am I supposed to think of anything else than the fact that Myungha committed su*cide and his friend loved him so much, wanted him to be happy and found a way to grief, that he wrote him into this novel so that he could have this happy ending? How am I supposed to move on from Myungha and Yeowoon being so in love with each other? How am I supposed to move on from Myungha's quiet "I love you" after this picture-perfect kiss at the beach once they overcame death and time and are finally this happy? How am I supposed to move on from Love for Love's Sake? I really don't know. This is the best drama I have watched. Like ever. I can't think of anything else at the moment. 100 out of 10 for me. I can't put in words how much I love this show.
Sahara Sensei to Toki-kun
Well. I knew I don't have a problem with step-brothers and now I know I don't have a problem with teacher/student. I think this show was adorable. Toki was a little bit over the top sometimes, but I enjoyed their interactions and the plot. Would I like this in real life? No, not so much, but in this fictional little world I really could enjoy this show. I give this 8 out of 10 little punches.
Annarasumanara (no bl)
This series broke my heart and healed it two minutes later, only to break it again. It was a rollercoaster for my emotions, but I really enjoyed it. The acting was good, the music was great and the story was very entertaining and heartbreaking. I give this a 9 out of 10.
Something In My Room
This was such a nice surprise. I started this series a while ago and put it on hold. I came to it this month and I enjoyed it so much! And it had the ending was hoping for! I loved the ending! It was so perfect. The plot was a little weak at some parts, but I was too distracted by Nut and his beauty. He is such a cutie pie! It gets a good 7 out of 10.
Happy Ending
In Strongberry we trust. Do I have to say more? I enjoyed this miniseries about two highschool classmates who obviously like each other, told by one of them in the future. He is scrolles though his old diary and remembering their time together and changing the plot by writing down, what he wished he would have said in the past. It has kind of an open ending, but in my mind they are together now and happy ever since :) It is not Strongberrys strongest series, but something good for in between. I give it a good 8 out of 10.
Pit Babe
Yeah it ended... It wasn't my cup of tea. The story was... exhausting. I didn't liek the fact Charlie and Jeff tried to solve everything by themselfes. Why tf did Way needed to die? I mean, give this man a break and give Pavel a break. The first times he needed to carry the emotional package of this show was fine, but at the end, it was just too much emotional stuff going on. it was too much. And to be honest, I skipped a lot, especially the Charlie x Babe plot. But Alan and Jeff! They were the reason I kept on watching. I love them so much! And I was kind of looking forward to Pete x Way, but this ship sunk like the Titanic... In the end, it was too much of everything and at the same time not exciting for me. But I get why people like it. Only 6 out of 10 for me.
Tomorrow (no bl)
I was a little bit unsure in the beginning. Choi Joon Woong was a little bit annoying for the first three episodes or so. But that was all forgotten in the end. Such a good series and one of them that made me cry with every single episode. I really liked the idea of a grim reaper department to prevemt su*c*des. There was always a story of the week and really good back stories! Enjoyed the whole thing and I am happy I watched it! 10 out of 10 for me.
Cooking Crush
Okay, I am not the biggest fan of OffGun. I think their chemistry is, well not really there for me. I don't know why they are so popular, but that is just my personal feeling. The series itself left me with a meh impression. I don't need drama all the time, but if there is not much plot, let the plot be entertaining at least. And that is what was lacking for me. I wasn't entertaint that much. And I didn't like the characters that much. Just not my bl. 5,5 out of 10 for me.
The Glory (Part 1, no bl)
Uhhh, this is so good! It is intense and I can't wait to see Dong-Eun get her revenge finally! I hope they'll suffer! It is a hard watch, especially the flashbacks. That is really hard stuff to watch, but the rest feels just so good! I like the characters and I enjoy hating the majority of them! I started the second part and can't wait to see how this turns out and ends! And I am curious if Yeo-Jung really has to kill someone and if he can work on his trauma too. 10 out of 10 for me.
The Glory (Part 2, no bl)
This felt so good. Just pure satisfaction. I wish we could have seen some of Yeo-jung's revenge too, but I am happy she decided to stay. Dong-eun's and Yea-jung's relationship might be highly fucked up, but it is one of the most romantic I have seen and I am in love with them. And I am happy Do-young could have his happy ending at the construction site and in the UK with his daughter. I wish them all the best! Such a good series! Loved every piece of it.
A Killer Paradox (no bl)
It had a promising start and I would have loved to whitness more of Lee Tang's "special powers" and his growth, but it ended with a complex mess and a story that wasn't that interesting. I really liked Lee Tang's character and I wished I could have see him, I don't know, shine a little bit more. Not as good as the trailer was promising, but entertaining. I give it 7 out of 10.
The Sign
I don't know if it was the two weeks break for me to finally watch the final, but it felt kinda... uneventful. I mean, we have this huge soulmate-romeo-and-juliet-thing and it looks as it ends just like the first time and Tharn dies. And it was just predictable and the ending was kinda rushed for me. Tharn talking to Mr. Snake to finally understand him and let him live with Phaya was a little bit out of character for Mr. Snake. I wished for them to be together, but this felt like lazy writing. Overall this isn't a bad series. I just wished for something more to be honest. A little bit more mystic and a little less crime solving. But that is just me. And to be honest, the last love-making-scene was just too long and with that a little bit boring... A solid 7 out of 10 for me.
The Good Bad Mother (no bl)
I saw s many good things about this drama, so I decided, I can't do much right now, so I can watch this. It was good. I loved how Kang ho get back on his feet and overall the growth of all the people in this small village. I really enjoyed this. And it was a little bit predictable, but I enjoyed the ending so much! It felt just a little too long at some points. I would recommend it, but I wouldn't hype it that much. It is a good watch. A 7,5 out of 10 for me.
Playboyy
Well, this show was something... something else, something different, something bad and good at the same time. It is hard to describe it, but I liked it. The cinematography was very good and the theatrical feeling I got was brilliant. I loved the settings for the different couples and how they played with the sex to deliver the story. But I lost the plot somewhere between cringy popcorn blowies and the pure madness these characters drifted into after a while. I still enjoyed the show though. The ending is a different chapter and yeah, no. What was that? It was a betrayal and an annoyence! To be continued... A solid 7 out of 10 for me (I might change that in the future...)

Dropped in February
For Him (1/12 on iQiyi - Thai)
Hm. I kind of knew I would drop this after the first episode. It couldn't entertain me enough to stay interested. And there is so much more out right now that fits my interest more. Perhaps I binge watch it one day, but for now: goodbye.
Looking forward to in February

My weekly roundup CW 17
I try to write down my thoughts after watching stuff to create a little weekly ranking in relation to the previous week on my, most of the times, quiet sundays (and because I love lists!). These are just my personal opinions and preferences.
And yes, this may contain spoilers!
→ 1. The Eighth Sense (9+10/10 Final)
Phew. How should I sum up my feelings about it? Korea has a knack for good stories, for me, anyway. And this story is definitely one of my favorites and one of the best I've seen so far. And you can tell it's leaning more towards western television. You can notice the Skam notation and also a bit of the Young Royals setting. But what about the last episodes? I knew there was going to be a happy ending because I was spoilered thanks to MDL, since the movie has already aired in Korea. Nonetheless, for me the journey is the destination, I also like to spoil myself on purpose sometimes. Because while I knew it would end well, I didn't know what the journey would be like. And the way was so beautiful! JaeWon is slowly realizing that his life belongs to him and he won't be better off if he excludes JiHyun from it. He worries so much about not hurting others, about what he thinks is good for others, without looking at what the others might want. He hurts JiHyun much more by avoiding him and excluding him from his life, and he's starting to realize that. And yes, in the end they meet again and this reunion climaxes in such an unbelievably great kiss and a night where both of them can hardly sleep because they can't stop looking at each other and finally enjoying each other's closeness. And JaeWon is completely absorbed in the role of "it's now or never, you only live once and screw everyone else". He's with JiHyun and he doesn't give a shit who knows it all then. And the message of it all: they don't know if they'll make it and stay together, but that doesn't stop them from trying anyway, giving themselves a chance and believing in something positive. It's worth allowing some happiness and love in your life. I am thrilled by this series. The only thing that bothered me a bit was the "reconciliation" with EunJi and TaeHyung.
↑ 2. My Story (3/10)
I was so looking forward to the next episode. Not necessarily because of the good acting of the main couple or their chemistry, but because of Zeke and Fifth! I got a really bad second-couple-syndrome! They're just so cute together, even though I really didn't need the close-ups of their feet! But Fifth was jealous! Ahhhh! And makes no bones about finding men attractive. What's going on with the main couple? I don't know. They briefly didn't interest me after the kissing-after-puking moment…that wasn't romantic that was gross!
Yes, I might be lowkey obsessed with them...
☼ 3. Happy Merry Ending (1+2/8)
Korea is coming up big this year with plots that deal with social anxiety and depression. I'm curious to see how this will be implemented here. In the first episode, we definitely learned that SeungJun has trauma and is medicated in that regard. It seems to be an important, central theme. Especially as a wedding singer who only dares to perform wearing sunglasses because he's afraid of the looks of the audience. And in return, we have JaeHyun who can fit in well with groups and new environments. I love JaeHyun already! He's so obviously hit hard with SeungJun and I love it! He is so direct and wants to spend time with him. Oh love at first sight! Love it!
☼ 4. La Pluie (1/12)
La Pluie surprised me. I didn't think the story would pick me up like that in the first episode. Yes, the concept of going deaf when it rains and only being able to hear your soulmate's voice (even if he's not present but telepathic) takes some getting used to, but I honestly found it quite cute. And yes, love at first sight is also a little favorite of mine. So Tai goes deaf but can hear his soulmate's voice in his head when it rains. However, he has mostly refused to answer him so far because he doesn't believe in soulmates or love. After all, his parents, who were also supposed to be soulmates, divorced each other. That changed his view of love. But his first encounter with the person behind the voice in his head perhaps showed him, what he might miss, if he doesn't reach out already. And as a second couple, we have an enemies-to-lovers story! I am excited!
↓ 5. Our Dining Table (4/10)
Yutaka's brother is just an asshole. But he couldn't help it as a child/teenager, but the parents could have said something. It's so easy to say you're part of the family now and then just ignore when the son bullies the adopted son like that. I want to box him and the parents. And Minoru wants to know so much more about Yutaka. He's so on his way to totally falling in love with Yutaka and his sensitive nature. And he's so sweet and insecure about it. I'm happy if Yutaka can open up to him a little bit.
↓ 6. A Boss And A Babe (9/12)
Yeah, what can I say. Gun is an idiot if he really thinks Cher betrayed him like that. And then he doesn't talk to him right away but gives him the cold shoulder first. Uncool, boss! And the friends realize that Cher was apparently a bit more serious with the boss after all. Even though they're there for him, I'm still pissed about last week. The sleepover was really nice though. Even friendships are not without drama. But it all works out in the end. Gun breaks Cher's Gameboy, but repairs it right away because of his bad conscience. But that's it for the drama, at least between Cher and Gun, right?
↑ 7. The Promise (7/10)
Party, my man! He has really thought, if you can not, Phu, then I'll show you how it's done right! Well, the result was rather so devastating, but I love how Nan reacted! As a person who has witnessed both sides, I think Nan gave the best reaction possible. He showed Party and told him that he is important to him and is and will be his best friend. And Party can now so slowly detach himself from the feeling. It is indeed easier to do such a thing when it is spoken out. Well and Phu…I even understand him. He just has zero hopes, so why jeopardize the friendship? Even though Nan took every opportunity to touch Phu's face in the morning…You can apply sunscreen several times, come on I'll show you. Yeah, right! The two of them have to finally talk to each other. And of course Phu isn't Nan's best friend anymore, because Nan doesn't consider him a friend anyway, he just doesn't quite understand yet what Phu actually is to him. Good episode.
↓ 8. Naked Dining (3/10)
Ohhhh, Futa is jealous! You can tell already very much that the two like each other a bit much. And finally the naked dining was back! And also with the homemade food he made together with Mahori. Yes, this is a rather quiet series as well. I don't know how much drama we can expect, but so far it's a gentle sprinkling. And I'm permanently hungry by the time I'm done with the episodes…
↓ 9. Step By Step (2/12)
Hm. I don't know. I don't like Jeng? And all the colleagues just suck! And then Pat is supposed to leave the only one who is nice to him and who is on the same page with him alone, because there might be gossip? That's bullshit! So I found the second episode not quite as convincing. The friends, on the other hand, except for the slip of his friend, who met professionally with his ex, I still find great!
↓ 10. Our Skyy 2 (3+4/16)
I really wanted to like it. But shit, was it boring! It's a fireworks display of cheesy dialogue…And what kind of ring is that? Am I just too anti-romantic to find that beautiful? I mean, yes, cute, sunflower and star together, but that's too much for a ring…And I have an idea for a new drinking game: A shot every time one of the two says I love you! And finally the cringiest quotes...
"Dao, you're trusting the right person, because I no longe know how to love anyone else. You're the only one I love." "Will you eat breakfast first or eat me first?" "I am all yours, Kluen. Yours and yours only, Kluen." "Once our home is done, our parents will discuss our wedding plans." (Even though Kluen didn't ask and Dao couldn't say yes…)
→ 11. Tin Tem Jai
I took notes: Why did a series like Tin Tem Jai have to include a drug storyline? There was no resolution to the story whatsoever, except that Kana would hit Pao if he took drugs again. Problem solved…Wow! Screw Pao's problems, they'll take care of themselves! Next, I noted: Why does Tin continue to be portrayed as this little boy. That just feels wrong to me. And again, I ask myself the question, how old is Tin supposed to be? And further, you guys can just kiss like that. You don't have to wait until your birthday. The whole kissing contact just doesn't feel good. There's just too much riding on the fact that Park is so much older and more experienced than Tin. I am constantly confused and not feeling good. Luckily next epsiode will be the last one! Finally!
