So... Somehow a nicer ending than the usual Prince MK AU, but still super bad?
I like to call this the "Monkies of Servitude" AU where essentially... MK is stuck married to King Red, meanwhile all of his friends/family are now stuck working under the king.
Granted, I've toyed with this idea... Twice, now. The first time was during this secondary reblog and the second is my more recent Season 5 comic. This is leaning more towards the Season 5 interpretation, in which MK made a plea deal to King Red to spare all of his friends from getting killed... Leading to their imprisonment instead.
Now, of course... This leads to two things: MK is now allowed to roam around the palace, granted he doesn't try to escape... And also because now King Red's got leverage to keep his precious darling inside.
He doesn't like their "corruptive" influence on his darling, but if he can keep a close eye on them, he could handle this.
That is, until Mei was the first to make the proposal to finally leave their cells to try and find some way to get MK out... By working under King Red. It was a sort of way that everyone else could sneak around the king and the king would be none the wiser.
(Macaque did try to leave with Wukong after finding out about the offer, only to get promptly yanked back with a circlet of his own to keep him in the demon court.)
Of course it's not so easy but he decides to humor them and gives them roles to play. And so much security around, not to mention the circlets, make it nearly impossible to break free.
But at least his darlings happy...?
The main fighters/defenders of the whole fortress are Wukong, Macaque, and Mei. Wukong and Mei definitely aren't fond of Macaque, but have to put up with it.
Like Prisoner Trio, TT Red is the main engineer... Which isn't getting very far because he's stalling so much.
Tang is the scholar/documentor of the important matters in the fortress. As such he's usually writing a lot.
Pigsy is very obviously one of the many cooks in the kitchen. MK started lingering around that area the most whenever he had the chance, just to hang out with his dad.
Sandy was probably one of the trickiest for King Red to figure out. How do you put a pacifist to work without making them nearly impossible to utilize? He then remembered that there's a few designated garden areas and a stable area for animals/pets so a Stableboy seems the easiest.
Everyone gets seperate bedrooms this time. Or they could offer to bunk with each other.
Mk is on the brink of collapsing the universe once again because he just won't stop having meltdowns.
Besides Wukong, Mei's the second most in terms of showing resistance. TT Red is the third, Pigsy is the fourth, Tang is fifth, Macaque is sixth, and Sandy is the least resistant. It's not that he doesn't want to do certain things, it's just that to keep the peace and get on the kings good side he does it... Unless it's super heinous.
Is this a fate worse than death for everyone? Oh, absolutely.
King Red had been easily catching the Monkie Kids from trying to ruin his plans and break out with MK, thanks to all of his other servants and his many security cameras. No one can escape from him.
Mk does eventually have Shan, one of the first Spicynoodles fankids.
This life definitely isn't what he wanted, but for his friends sake he'd try to stay strong and not give up hope. That's extremely hard with King Red clinging to him all the time, though.
(The Prince MK AU belongs to @purble-turble)
#Lmk#Lmk au#lego monkie kid#Monkies of Servitude#digital art#text post#demon king red#time travel#🌸mine#Is this my extremely self indulgent “Everyone suffers” AU? Yes. Yes it is.#Do I care that it is? Nope! I'm cringe and I'm free DEAL WITH IT :D

Spoilers for LMK season five Episode 5-6 below the cut!
Starting again! Leggo!
Mei’s jet survived the crash I see
Trucker Pigsy! Jot that under ‘things I didn’t know I needed until now’
“Big Ham” somebody was WAITING to use that trucker name for him.
I like the design of those rocks.
Red laser in a flame named episode. Is this where we get Red Son?
The way Pigsys ears flap in the wind!!!
Also I’m going to assume this follows what everyone else was doing in the last episode so the crash hasn’t happened yet.
For some reason I’m getting a ‘this is gonna be a pod racing episode’ vibe. I am probably wrong but now I want that episode (even if we’ve already had a race episode)
You got stopped by a very cute mouse!
I feel like so far Pigsy is the one that works best in this animation. Idk, theres been no really jarring movements for him that I’ve noticed.
Red Son!!!! Yes Mei! Show him the love he deserves!!
Red Son guesses correctly. They are indeed stopping the apocalyptic cracks
Mei’s face! OMG!!!
Red Son is like the opposite of Tang. He’d probably be surprised to find out something isn’t real.
Is this like a Samadi fire thing? Are we finally getting anything related to that?
He’s so proud to be the creator of the Samadi fire!!
Researching the origins of the true fire? So…the Samadi fire? The fire you made?
Little pet fire dragon???? Are we giving Mei a weapon of mass destruction as a pet? Because that could not go wrong! /s
*cough* a failed replica of the Samadi fire *cough*
I love whatever that is. It needs a goofy name.
:3 face Mei!!
Also she’s so ready to go and he’s just like ‘hold oh like .2 seconds PLEASE’
“This is why we don’t hang out” please, you don’t hang out cause you don’t wanna admit you like peasants.
Pigsy’s going through some stuff. Maybe Tang can help with those scrawny ankles.
If you can’t tell, I love the scrawny ankles joke. It’s so funny.
“I’m his father” “I’m not strong enough to keep him safe” Pigsy you were the ONLY person that could help him sleep. Don’t downplay the care you give him. Also this is gonna end in so much angst.
Tang really regretting that “we’re side characters at best” comment from season three right about now.
Is Red Sons plan style INVADER ZIM?!?!
Red Son you are so dramatic. I love you!
Was…was that shot a FMA reference?!
Pigsy you are a good dad! You’re there for MK when he needs you! Don’t be sad!!
“You know it’s kinda your fault right?” Tang that is not helping!
Tang saying Pigsy was the one who made MK a good person! I can’t!! I need to pause!
“You’re his dad!”
The little mice!! I’m screaming!
I was not prepared for this many Pigsy feels!!
Tang is the number 1 found family supporter!
“This is not the best time for a crisis of confidence!!”
Mei, you’re the best, don’t doubt yourself.
Red Son stepping between her and the fire!!!
Ooohh, cool green electric form!!
Mei mech!! Mei mech!!!! Badass Mei mech!!
Isn’t that one of the pets from club penguin?
“Everyone gets a mech except for me” petition to give Red Son a mech 2024
The demon bull family picture!!
Red Son being determined to help those he loves!!
“See noodle boy” of the spicynoodle shippers screamed right there.
“Hey I texted you for help! You never responded” •-•
Mei’s been sending nonstop puppy videos!
Phone stop autocorrecting Mei to key please. I’m not even sure why that’s the word you’re choosing?
Mei communicates with puppy videos, no words needed.
She left her phone.
Episode 6! Leggo!! This is gonna be my last one today because though I want to stop worrying about spoilers, I also want it to last at least a little bit longer.
We inch ever closer to the return of Mac and also to later episodes that I just KNOW will be emotionally devastating.
Tang panicking, things are as they should be.
Was that the shoe guy but voiced by a woman? Good for her.
Pigsy vs destiny the season.
MK learning for SWK and Sandy!!!
Best buds Monkey King and Sandy! That’s them! I’m sure you’ll get your episode Mei.
Im guessing Mei or Tang help this episode then Pigsy helps with the final stone, but I could be wrong.
The art of SWK of fire and Sandy being held by the snake is hilarious. 10/10 no notes.
The MK and Mei art is also adorable.
Its gonna be the Tang episode to harken back to the dumpling episode where Mei thought she was gonna go and didn’t.
Sandy, you’re very inconspicuous, don’t listen to the mean old Tangy.
“Borrowing”
They all look…awesome.
Jin and yin!!
Are those helmets? Cause they look really weird. I get what they’re going for but I don’t like it.
Also they shoulda grabbed Pigsy if they wanted a singer.
Why doesn’t Mo get a disguise?
For some reason some of Mei’s lines are difficult for me to catch. I need subtitles, that aren’t auto generated and thus awful.
Nezha!!! My boi!! (If you haven’t noticed, basically all the characters are my boi, except Mei she my girl!)
“He’s bombing! You’re bombing!”
Nezha should joint Chang’e’s roller derby team. (This is a headcanon but they need to make it canon)
SWK were you gonna fight Nezha or try to talk to him before Mei grabbed you? you didn’t look fighty.
“Ahhh!” Followed by the guards flying.
“You’re not getting away that easi…” cap in face
Who threw the whole stall person and all?!?!
*meme of the person holding the cat down that’s surrounded by broken potted plants* Wukong.
Nezha mech!! Also Nezhie you’re trying really hard to catch these guys for someone who believes in their innocence.
The flower jetpack looking this is a really cool design.
I should draw Nezha
“We have to get out of here!” “What? Why? I can handle Nezhie” SWK, I love you so much (second only to Sandy in this version)
“Wah?”
MK trusting Nezha!!! And stepping in front of the blade!!! Nezha STOPPING!!!
“My father!” My guy, your father is a big meany. You’ve SEEN them stop world ending disasters before INCLUDING the one that started this!!
That is a really cool mech.
Fillet use!
Jerky jerk man appears.
Pagoda!
Nezha fighting his dad!!!
Get them outta there Tangy!!
Do not yell at Nezha, he’s a good boy and he’s actually helpful. I didn’t see you anywhere when Azure was doing all this damage. (I kinda only know Li Jing in connection to Nezha’s myth so he could be a pretty cool dude elsewhere, but here he’s a jerk)
“We’re all gonna die!” Hugs Tang. Of the Freenoodle shippers noticed that.
MK where did you bring them?
Also calling it now, Nüwa has the last stone and she’s in the pagoda.
“I call dibs!!” Please give Mei her adventure. She’s going to go rabid without it.
MK’s smile and wave face!!
Sandy waving back!
Somebody get SWK some Tylenol or something for his headache please.
The guardian designs are all super cool.
Love the tiger specifically.
“Uhhh, no we don’t.”
I am not ready for the rest of this season.
SWK keeps forgetting the fillet.
Can someone PLEASE get him some Tylenol?
Mo!!
MK knows what he’s doing.
Pigsy jumped after him first!!!
If anything happens to Pigsy I will scream. (If anything happens to any of them I will scream.)
Li Jinh doesn’t find is suspicious at all they that JUMPED?!
Magic costume change!
“These are…prison jumpsuits?!”
You’d think they’d have one that fits Sandy at least. Poor guys barely fits in that jacket.
Also Mo keeps getting left out of the costume changes. Justice for Mo!
“Aww my shirt.” Well. There it goes.
MK being the smarty kid again. Good boy.
I wanna watch another episode now but I also wanna wait and hold off to make it last. Decisions!!

I FORGOT ABOUT THE OC-TOBER IM SO SORRY
I'm going on a road trip with my mom tomorrow tho, which means! A lot of time to draw! So i will try my bestest to do a few days LMAO
Anyway to tide yall over, have my lego monkie kid oc!! I love her with all of my heart.
I have edited her design a little, and given her a backstory!! I also finished the show. Giggles autistically. CW for below, season 3 spoilers for Lego Monkie Kid! As well as minor character death, but that's not a show spoiler
So, she has a little sister, Fēn, and she loves her little sister. Her parents are. Distant at best, so Qiu was kinda eldest daughter syndrome-ed by their parents. During the Lady Bone Demon attack, her house collapsed while her sister was at school (Qiu is in university, taking classes at night, and working part time to afford a babysitter for Fēn when their parents arent around, which is often).
Qiu wakes up in a pocket of rubble and is able to wiggle her way out, and stays at a hospital thats taking in displaced people while tracking down her sister. When she finally finds her, about a week later, she tells Fēn that she couldn't find their parents, but when people offer to try to help finding them, Qiu politely declines, and never does bother to put in effort to find them.
Considering Qiu is now the SOLE provider for her little sister, she drops out of her evening classes and searches for a full-time job that will take her despite her lack of degree. Her search takes her to Pigsy's noodles, where she's once again told that there aren't any openings. However, she is desperate for a job, and begs Pigsy to consider her. So, he hesitantly offers her a job in the kitchen; doing prep work for him, grocery runs when they run out of an ingredient, etc. She thanks him, and the next day she sends Fēn off to school, and goes to Pigsy's noodles.
Every weekday she leaves early to pick up her sister, and then comes right back, plonking her sister in a chair at the counter to do her homework. Eventually, Tang and Mei offer to do it, and trade off picking Fēn up from school. While she's at the shop, Tang and Mei usually keep her company, and, when it's not busy, so will MK.
Eventually, they find out that Qiu dropped out of school, and when they ask why, she shrugs and responds 'I couldn't afford a house, food, AND a babysitter while in school, so I had to sacrifice something.' They all feel bad, despite the fact that Qiu shrugs it off, saying that it was a part of life. So, MK, Mei, and Tang all band together and tell Qiu that they'll watch Fēn for free while she is in classes. Qiu cries, thanks them, and applies to uni again for the new school year.
Problems arise, however, during the first set of exams. Qiu needs to be at school in the morning, and everyone is busy in the morning; MK doing training, Mei training as well (I headcanon that after the arc was finished, Mei kept training to use the samadhi fire with Red Son), and Tang usually shopping with Pigsy.
So, on MK's day with Fēn, she's brought the flower fruit mountain, and gets to meet Sun Wukong. They get along... alright; Sun Wukong is a little awkward around her, considering she's a lot younger than MK, and he's not quite sure how to talk to her. They spend the day painting rocks while MK does chores around the mountain; Qiu didn't want them to work on fighting with a 6 year old right there.
On Mei's day, she takes Fēn to see Red Son, who has Mei work on her focus and control over the fire. Red Son, who has a MUCH easier time talking to her than Wukong, ends up sitting next to Fēn and playing various games with her while Mei trains.
On Tang's day, she gets dropped off with Sandy, who ends up having a several hour long tea party with her and Mo, complete with a comically small tiara for Sandy, and a pink ballgown for Mo. And of course, Fēn dresses up in her own blue gown, and doesn't ask Sandy why or how he had her favorite color ballgown. (He asked Qiu what Fēn's size was, and made a gown for her, just in case she ever came over)
And on the last day of exams, MK had training again; this time, with Macaque. Macaque was, to most people's surprise, very soft with Fēn. When MK arrived to his dojo, visibly frazzled with an excited 6 year old, he'd blinked, stared for a moment. He'd sighed, canceling training, and left the dojo, locking it behind him, before bending down to talk to Fēn, introducing himself, and asking what she wanted to do. And so, the 3 of them went to an arcade, MK and Fēn playing while Macaque kept an eye out. By the end of the day, Fēn was referring to Macaque as "uncle M"
That's all I got for now, and I did not mean for it to be so damn LONG?? Jesus christ- TLDR lbd attacks, oc becomes mom to her little sister, works at Pigsy's, goes to college, and The Gang babysits her little sister for her.
Mayhaps I should make a fic out of this. (I will never make a fic out of this, I do NOT have the motivation to write. Like, ever)

Late Happy Mother's Day Drabble
I wanted to draw something for Mothers day but i'm being slammed by tests and final projects so I wrote a quick drabble within an hour FJIDOAW ------------------- CW: mentions of death/passing on This one is a little bittersweet but its more to be a moving on thing but always loving someone, your parents. ------------------- The aroma of red bean and egg, tinged with hints of fresh fruit, filled the air of her apartment. Pyramids of fruits sat on plates on her counter, creating a colorful sight from red to green due to its variety. The scent that slipped out every crack and window, filling every passerby with warmth and a craving for sweets. It was Mother’s Day, so naturally, the smell of flowers lingered in the air outside her apartment, the aroma of her cooking simply adding on to the liveliness of the day.
Yunwen gracefully moved in dance-like motion around the kitchen, moving between the steamer and the stove, making sure nothing was overcooked. Her jade eyes focused on the nian gao within the pan, making sure the egg-coated rice cakes didn’t burn.
As soon as it was done, she skillfully took the rice cakes out with a pair of chopsticks, placing them on a plate neatly to stack them up into another pyramid of food, a smile naturally rising to her face. She truly adored the smell of cooking and baking; the smell wasn’t just a warm or sweet smell, but a smell of home. But that blissful content was only fleeting. She felt her heart drop a little, knowing what the next step was.
It was time to set up the altar and light the candles.
It was all bittersweet. She always refused to believe that her mother was gone. But... after spending so much time with MK, Mei, Sandy, Pigsy, Wukong, and even Macaque (Whom she surprisingly became friends with), she’s learned to accept it. They provided ears she never had. Eyes that she couldn’t see through. Advice that she could’ve never dreamed to take or think of.
They helped her accept her mother was gone. Helped her break her delusion. To let reality finally settle in, finally allowing the hurt to slip into her wounds that she’s gritted through and refused to care for, finally trying to stop the bleeding that has drained her of everything.
But it wasn’t just the pain nor her blood, sweat, and tears she shed for years. It was... the learning experience, really. Learning from the past and present, to prepare for the future. Her friends—something she’s come to genuinely accept—taught her something she never thought about: her mother wasn’t truly gone. She felt that if she stopped trying, stopped her anger, her mother would be gone forever, as if she would be erased from her mind permanently. But that wasn’t it.
Her coping mechanism wasn’t entirely with fault or delusion. Her mother still lived on within her. She still carried her mother's blood, as well as the vague blurry memories of her, and that was all she needed. She still carried the blood of the fenghuang--begrudgingly, celestial blood--but that wasn’t the point nor just it. She had the right idea, but she took it too far.
Thoughts and rambling aside, they taught her to cherish her memory in a past form, as a memory, as part of herself. Not something to force and manipulate into reality as a physical form, all to try to cling to it. Something that was supposed to pass on.
Soon, the plates were set up at the small little altar she made, candles sitting on near the edges of the rosewood table, carved with intricate designs. There was no picture frame, no picture, nothing. She didn’t have a picture of her mother,.. nor did she ever need it. She lit an incense, bowing as she held the fragile stick between her palms, before walking up slowly, sticking the incense stick into the small tray.
Honestly… she thought this whole thing would hurt a lot more. That it would allow the hollowness to devour her whole from the inside out. That salt would rub itself into her wounds. But... funnily enough, it was nothing like that. She felt... lighter like the sky clearing up to reveal its beauty, blue streaked with gradients and lines of various colors. Her shoulders no longer felt heavy, the chains wrapped around her neck and body slipping off got the ground. Her anger at everything and everyone simmering down from its boil.
A small prayer left her mouth before she muttered “母親節快樂.”
She soon stepped back before sitting down on her knees, her behind resting on her heels. She gazed at the altar, her little fenghuang manifesting beside her, curling up around her body. Its white gaze settled on the burning incense, before bowing its head. She sat there, watching the candles and incense, waiting for them to burn out. But she herself didn't burn out. It didn’t hurt. Nothing did for once. Her vision was no longer muddled. Soon, her lips quirked up, a small but genuine smile rising to the edges of her mouth
Maybe she can move on after all {FIN}

Probably lmk season 4 spoilers. I type things and rant without thinking so, just a fair warning.
We good?
Okay….
First things first…
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!
WHAT!?!?
I DON’T EVEN KNOW WHERE TO BEGIN!!! HOW DO I BEGIN!?!?
I just wanna say, I might have missed certain contexts because I watched English sub on YouTube, and I was freaking out the whole time. So if there is something I miss or misunderstand that might be why.
I guess some simple thoughts is where I’ll start?
Official monkey MK design!! How are y’all feeling about that one!?!? My boi was glitching and I felt real bad for him!
I couldn’t really tell if they were trying to say he was also born from a stone, or if Monkey King somehow made him? Or…what? Or if it was purposely vague just so they could do the whole, “It doesn’t really matter who you are, you are who you choose to be thing.” I was slightly confused and freaking out.
Either way, I was screaming the whole time. I died when MK called Pigsy his dad, because yes! He is. And my boi Pigsy really had the gall to say he was more of a godfather!?!?!? MK says you’re a dad? You’re a dad!
Which also, MK kind of went ahead with calling Azure Lion Uncle, soooo…confirmed Wukong dad as well?
MK getting all the dad’s and uncles. Kind of jealous. Even if some of them are causing issues. Especially Azure. Not cool dude.
They really heightened the MK angst this season and AAAH!! I can’t handle it!
Seeing the crew with the old crews weapons and stuff was super cool too! I like how during the training scene they had qualities that their past lives or ancestors or whatever hadn’t learned or learned as quickly. But that didn’t mean they couldn’t also learn from the past. Mei is awesome, but I agree girl has to plan ahead more and stuff. I love her to death though.
Pigsy’s was nice to see. (Also soup bending from my man Pigsy.) He may be a bit tough on the outside, but he really does care for his friends and family, and I love that! Now he just needs to get super strong to help them out!
Calling Tang out was funny. My poor useless scholar shall be useless no more! Flex those brain and courage muscles boi! It was so cool to see more of Tang’s abilities!
And Sandy was perfect all along. I always knew it. 😌 I love how the dude kept sticking silver stars on him. 😂😂 His only flaw? Maybe being a little TOO nice. But, even Sandy knew that and can probably adjust accordingly. He had that character growth in season 2. 😂
Usually I like torturing characters I like, but seeing MK suffering and sad made me sad, and I just wanted someone to hug him. Which he got when reunited and getting his friends out of heaven! So I’ll take it! My boi was still glitching though. Someone gotta do something about that.
There was just so much, I can’t even think of it all or what I want to say or do, besides screaming. Plus I was a little confused in places because I am dumb and it is late. I am definitely gonna rewatch a couple times, and absolutely rewatch when the dub comes out! So maybe my thoughts will be in better order by then? Hopefully I’ll process it more by the time the special or finale comes out? Whichever it may be?
Until then, sorry for my insane ramblings. I just needed to process and yell some more.
I don’t even know how I’m gonna sleep or go to work tomorrow like a normal person! Especially after that cliffhanger!!! AAAAH!!
Definitely gonna look for something to draw too! I need to draw something! Okay, okay…I’m chill. I’m cool. See y’all later, and I hope you can process this new season well.
#lego monkie kid#lego monkie kid season 4#lmk season 4 spoilers#lmk season 4#lego monkie kid spoilers#spoilers#rant#lmk rant#I know this probably makes no sense#I just had to write it down!!!#also wanna say I was proud of myself for recognizing the river that made Zhu Bajie and them preganant in jttw lol#love how Tang noped out of there XD#he knew what that water was and he wanted no part of it!

Because you are a fantastic writer, and because I simply adore what you write, how about a continuation to the "Wukong is once again being an idiot and lying to everyone" prompt? And this is an open prompt! You can take this and go absolutely bonkers with it!
THE POWER YOU HAVE GIVEN ME SHALL NOT GO UNDERUTILIZED. This is a follow up to these two previous fills and I am just going off about what I think would be an interesting way to continue into season 3 at this point.
Warning: UH... Sun Wukong is not doing too great. Mild descriptions of his hidden injuries, Wukong is still immortal but what he hid would be very bad for people who are not.
"He's burning up," Pigsy said with a hiss as he pulled his hand away from Wukong's forehead. "Why is he burning up? What even happened to him!? He didn't look like this an hours ago, ain't he immortal-"
"Yeah, but not invincible," MK interrupted with a shake in his voice, watching as Sandy checked on his mentor's newly revealed injuries. "Not entirely anymore. He-he'll probably be fine! No, he will be fine, but he's-shit." He took in a shaky breath, trying to stand on legs that had long since fallen asleep in their awkward position holding his mentor's head off the hard floor. "I'll explain later, we need to see how bad he is now!"
He jumped, feeling a soft touch against his shoulder. Mei had knelt beside him at some point and it wasn't until she reached over to brush her thumb against his cheek that he realized he had started crying at some point.
The chef looked at him with an odd expression at MK's revelations, almost looking like he wanted to say something in anger before shaking his head and standing instead.
"You're right," he said as he turned to Sandy. He didn't need to ask the largest of the group anything, watching as he carefully scooped the Monkey King into his arms and headed off into what they had designated as "the med bay" with Tang following close by. "But you're gonna tell us exactly what that you mean by 'not entirely invincible' on the way, no more of this waitin to talk business! And we're going to walk there calmly."
MK couldn't find it in himself to argue.
~
"Well, shit," Pigsy sighed after MK rushed through the conversation he had shared with his mentor, pinching the bridge of his snout with a sigh. "That's... bad. That explains a whole lot about a lot of stuff, like how he managed to get himself caught on New Years, at least... You're sure he's still immortal?"
"Yeah," MK nodded, leaning into the grip Mei had on his shoulder as they walked. "Yeah, he made it a point to insist he still couldn't die."
"That's... good, right?" Mei offered with a chuckle, her usual exuberance seeming shaken up after seeing the state of the immortal monkey. "That means he'll get better!"
They paused at the entrance to the med bay, really more a spare bedroom they had stocked all the medical supplies Sandy apparently hoarded into, and MK gulped. He thought over Wukong's words, trying to find any piece he could to pick it apart. See exactly what, if anything, may have been just more half truths... he didn't want to believe he was still hiding things, not after that display of dropping the glamor. But MK himself had claimed he would explain everything to the others before... and lied still... and he was more like Sun Wukong than he first realized.
"I-I think so," he finally settled on an answer as they walked in, Sandy's back being the first sight they were greeted with. He could see the bottom half of Wukong's legs and feet, and Tang standing on the opposite side of the bed, as they were doing... something. "He said I was half invincible so... maybe he's still half himself? But he said they'd 'probably heal eventually' so..."
"Maybe he just meant they wouldn't scar!" Mei offered with a smile, moving to grip MK's hand. "Come on... we can't stop thinking about the good outcomes now..."
He turned, looking at his best friend. Her smile was off, uncertain, dark circles under her eyes from lack of sleep. None of them had slept well the last two nights. But her eyes, despite the uncertainty they shared with her smile, were as bright and hopeful as ever.
"Yeah..." MK said with a small smile.
"As much as we'd appreciate the help," Tang said suddenly, moving from behind the bed to stand before them. He had removed his scarf and robe, something that looked bizarre and wrong outside of seeing him in his sleep wear, and instead wore a simple tank top and his regular pants. He had gloves on... already spotted in red. "This room is a little cramped with all five of us and a bed."
"I'll go make us food," Pigsy said immediately, laying a hand on MK's back as he addressed Tang. "We don't gotta eat it when it's finished it's just... gonna be ready for when you're done, ok?"
MK couldn't help but smile a bit. Pigsy didn't just make food and let it sit, not normally. The only other time he could ever remember him doing that was after... DBK. After they volunteered to help clean up the city from the damage his possession caused. He'd made pots and pots of noodles and soup and plates of side dishes and buns and just kept them warm for when anyone came by to eat them. He stayed in his shop, waiting and handing out what he could.
He never once complained about the excess from the last batches, offering them for free to the first few customers the next day if they wanted it.
"Thanks, Pigsy," Tang said with a tired smile. "I think everyone is going to appreciate that."
"I'll finish the ship upkeep Sandy and I were doing," Mei offered, smiling at Sandy when he looked over his shoulder. "I've got a pretty good handle on the specifics by now."
"I trust you," Sandy said with a smile, the first thing he had said the entire time he'd joined them in the kitchen, and turned back to what he was doing.
There was an awkward silence as Tang started grabbing supplies from a cabinet to deposit on a nearby table and Pigsy and Mei turned to MK.
"I'm staying," he said firmly, but nothing could hide the shaking in his hands. "Just... I have to know how bad he is."
"OK," Pigsy said, and they made their way out before Mei turned back inside.
"When he wakes up? Give him one of these for me," she said before making a face and leaving in the opposite direction.
There was just enough of a chuckle that escaped him that MK thought he would be able to do that.
"Are you sure you want to see this?" Tang asked, far softer in tone than he had been before. "Sandy and I were already taking stock of his injuries and... MK, they're not good."
"Yeah, I'm sure," he insisted, taking in a calming breath. "I need to know exactly how angry I need to be at him."
His father figure didn't laugh, but there was amusement in his eyes as he returned back to where he was. "Alright, then you're going to need to help by handing me everything I ask for."
They settled into silence after that, and MK watched and Tang and Sandy worked to check on the unconscious immortal in the bed.
They had stripped off his robe, leaving him only in the pants he wore underneath it. He looked... he looked much worse without it on.
In addition to his eye (which seemed to have been the only hidden injury to have already healed as much as it may have) and the tear in his ear (which seemed to have at least been partly treated by himself already) his torso was littered with little cuts and scrapes. Sandy had rolled up the legs on his pants, one remaining upright and MK could see the slight swell of his knee from some kind of internal injury (probably muscular). His tail and arms were also similarly injured, one nasty gash in particular close to the end of the tail that had gotten almost as much treatment as his ear.
But on his side... there was sloppy bandaging slowly growing redder.
"Sandy, help me get this off him," Tang said, holding out his hand. "Scissors, please."
MK jolted, getting what Tang requested from the pile of stuff, watching as he carefully cut away the wrapping.
Tang winced as he finally lifted the dressing from Wukong's side, but did his model best to look as impassive as possible. There was a sizeable gash on it, large enough that Tang's entire hand barely covered it lengthwise, that had poorly treated with the lopsided gauze and bandages (probably stolen from this very room after he allowed them to treat his visible injuries). Blood had seeped through it, all fresh, and it was most likely reopened upon his fall. It looked... wrong. Not the way it should. The fur around it had been either ripped out or had fallen out and the skin was inflamed and angry.
"... no wonder he's burning up, this is becoming infected," he said evenly, detected, leaning over to look at the supplies he took from the medicine cabinet. "Sandy, I'm going to need your help moving him. MK?" He turned to the young man, face softening as he saw how pale his face had gotten at the revelations before him. "MK, I heard what you were telling Mei and Pigsy earlier. Mei's probably right, he'll be ok. OK?"
MK wanted to believe he had been, he'd been so honest after he told him to stop lying, but... but he still couldn't help but worry his mentor was still hiding more. And he felt so guilty thinking that. But he shook his head, dispelling the thoughts in his head.
"OK... what do you need?"
"Let's start with antiseptic. We need to clean this as quickly as possible."
~
It took longer than MK had hoped. And Sun Wukong had only barely stirred the entire time. Whether it was from the infectious fever or from exhaustion from using his remaining powers while sick he didn't know, but the most of a reaction they got him from was a sharp gasp and a twitch while cleaning the worst of his wounds.
Aside from that... nothing. He remained still, even as Sandy moved him without any effort and guided Tang through the medical stuff he wasn't sure how to handle.
MK knew Tang had some first aid training but this was much more than he expected him to pull off... he supposed he was learning a lot.
After a while Tang didn't need Sandy's help to move him anymore and the massive man shot MK an apologetic look before leaving. MK assumed he had left to wash up, and he did, but he eventually returned completely cleaned up with a hot cup of tea. It was the same flavor as the one he never got to finish during his conversation earlier.
He ruffled MK's hair after the young man gratefully took it, making Wukong more comfortable on Tang's instruction and pulling the covers over everything but one arm before saying something about needing to give Mei some tea as well, before leaving the three of them alone again. MK thought that, maybe, the sight of the Monkey King as he was was somehow making him... uncomfortable. No, not uncomfortable.
Sad.
He didn't say anything.
"He looked... almost fine when he saved me..." MK said after a long sip of his tea and a long silence of watching Tang handle everything else on his own, trying to squeeze his cup. Just like when he had tried before, it stayed firm. "He wasn't hurt then, not by LBD, so... he'd been keeping up those illusions since before he came. How long was he hurt?"
"There isn't really a way for us to know," Tang admitted, wrapping the fresh gauze around the king's arm as carefully as he could manage. It wouldn't have mattered if he wasn't careful, Wukong didn’t stir a bit. "It could have been hours... could have been days. With how quickly his eye healed vs his gash it's hard to tell. But my guess would be hours, given when you... when..." He trailed off, a shudder running through him. "He was actively giving you his powers, yeah? Maybe... he was giving you some of his healing abilities. Or maybe something else hurt his eye long before everything else. We just don't know."
"I think that was from Macaque," MK said with a wince, knowing he was going to have to explain more about who Macaque was eventually. "He said LBD has him under her control and he has the same injury on the opposite eye."
Tang froze for a half a second, the shine of the overhead lights on his glasses keeping Mk from seeing just what kind of expression he had. But he simply nodded, finishing up his work.
"We'll just... have to hope he'll be able to give us some better information when he wakes up," Tang said with a shrug as he removed his gloves. "This is all probably a mystery even to him... I'm going to wash up... will you be alright alone?"
"Yeah."
That was a lie, but he felt at least this one was warranted.
Because even if he wouldn't be fine he didn't want to leave.
~
It was nearly 11 hours before Sun Wukong opened his eyes again, though he didn't realize that at the time.
The morning sunlight was just barely shining through the window to the med bay, and he wondered for a moment why one of his eyes seemed to ache at the light and a tear rolled down his cheek from the strain at trying to see.
Then he remembered that he couldn't see out of it anymore. And the conversation with MK. And... passing out. In the kitchen.
This was definitely not the kitchen floor, which was bad. What he was laying on was soft and had something else laying on top of him. Which meant he had been moved to a bed.
Which meant he had been unconscious for more than a minute, which was the exact opposite of what he wanted.
He tried to move his left arm to cover his eye, but found something... holding it down. And with a little effort he moved his head, looking over to the side.
MK was slouched over on a chair, nearly face down on the blanket that covered him and holding his hand. In his other hand there was a comic book of some kind, horribly bent by his own face.
He had dark circles, much darker than he had the night before, under his eyes and there was a dried wetness on his cheeks that made Wukong's chest hurt at the sight.
He'd messed up... again. He shouldn't have held up the illusion, not for that long. He should have let it fall the moment they hit the drone and been honest instead of insisting that he go on his new Journey to the West on his own. Or at least let it fall the next day, when they questioned why he was so tired. So quiet. Why he was so still and wasn't running around the ship like they expected (the pulled muscle in his knee, which he very much noticed was tightly compressed by either a sleeve or a wrap, being the main culprit along side... that injury).
He sighed, doing his best to remove his hand from his student's carefully before gently resting it on his head and ruffling the hair there.
"...'m sorry, MK," He said tiredly. "No more secrets, I promise."
"You better mean that promise you asshole."
Wukong yelped and jumped, yelping again when it sent a jolt of pain down his side. "YOu're AwAKe!?"
MK sat up, almost smiling at the way his mentor sounded but holding it back. "Yeah... I kinda passed out after a while, but I woke up like... an hour ago? I've just been trying to get as much rest as I can, even if I'm not actually sleeping."
"That's... good," Wukong said with a nod, the way MK described the time frame feeling familiar. "So you saw... everything?"
"Everything."
"Well, shit."
"That's exactly what Pigsy said when I told him what happened," Mk said with a chuckle, reading over to grab a packet of some kind and a glass of water. "Tang gave me very specific instructions to make you take all of this. Or else."
"Or else... what?" Wukong chanced, raising an eyebrow.
"I dunno, I always took the medicine he gives me with that threat so I never got to find out," MK shrugged. "Pigsy says it's not worth finding out."
"I'll take his word for it," Wukong said with a sigh. It was probably best to take whatever it was regardless of threats, he could feel his fever still and he did not want to keep having to fight that off. So he took the medicine, a mixture of pills and some kind of powder MK mixed into his drink that made it taste oddly way too sweet and sour at the same time, and sighed as he closed his eyes again for a moment.
They sat in silence for only a minute before he spoke again.
"Your friends... did all this?" He gestured to himself, reaching up to feel the odd dressing on his ear.
"Tang and Sandy did," MK explained, and went on to tell him what happened. How they treated him. How Pigsy had food waiting for him now that he was awake. How MK stayed by his side just in case.
"Oh, and Mei wanted me to give you this," MK said before pausing, glowering at him in a way that looked odd on his student's face but probably would have looked horrifying on Mei.
"Oh... I made her that mad huh?"
"I think everyone is kinda angry at you to some degree," MK admitted before holding his mentor's hand again. "But... mostly we were worried. You're my mentor, and a part of our little group now. That's what we do. Worry about each other."
Sun Wukong felt another tear slip out of his injured eye, but not from strain.
It had been so long since anyone... worried about him.
He didn't know how much he missed knowing he was cared about like that.

--
They knew what they were doing.
Of course they knew what they were doing. It was in either of their best interests to keep this a secret. Just because the clan had stopped their crusade to take over the city and their queen had dialed down the ‘revenge’ ideas, didn’t mean there wasn’t still bad blood between his clan and Sandy’s family.
And it wasn’t too difficult, it just meant that when they were all working together for some greater threat or whatever that they’d have to be sneaky. It was easy stealth was one of Huntsman’s greatest Attributes and suspecting Blue of anything was like suspecting a small dog of knocking over a bulldozer.
It wasn’t too hard to simply keep their hands to themselves. Or at least, it wasn’t hard for Sandy, Huntsman was quickly finding his self control lacking in regard to being in such a situation with his… well, with him. But could anyone blame him? Blue was more or less the hottest guy he’d ever ran into before and he was kinda-sorta DATING him! How could he not want to climb that like a tree at all times?
Especially when he was always being so stupidly fucking charming. Sure the ‘needlessly nice’ stuff wasn’t something he particularly appreciated, but it was starting to grow on him, if only on the amount of restraint he must have to keep it up all the time.
Soooo yeah maybe he was purposefully pushing their luck a little, but in his defense he wanted to see how much desire based frustration it would take before ol’ Blue would just pin him against a wall and make him regret wondering.
--
Syntax had shooed him away from being a nuisance at his worktable, so naturally, Huntsman had to go be a nuisance at someone else’s worktable. Thankfully Sandy was far more agreeable to the company, and thankfully the bid of ‘Bugging Syntax first’ kept his alibi solid. He wasn’t just going over to see Blue he just wanted to be a louse and his normal target had already locked him out of his room. And so nobody really suspected anything when he started to peer over Sandy’s side to watch him tighten this or that thing on this or that device.
And it was pretty damn fun to see just how much of a ‘nuisance’ he could be. This particular bout resulting ih Huntsman being pressed against the car engine Blue had been working on, feeling the orange hair slide between his claws and messing up the stylized mohawk and shuddering when he felt those huge hands almost entirely encompass either of his thighs while keeping him aloft. He hissed through his teeth as he felt Blue give one of his legs a testing squeeze and rolled his hips forward a bit-
“Fish Demon? I need to get another set of eyes on these schematics or I'll actually go insane.” By the time Syntax looked up from his clipboard Sandy was working on the engine again and Huntsman was leaning against his work area and had barely had the opening to whip out one of his knives and his portable sharpener.
Though Sandy’s hair was unable to be fixed and fell to a side as he smiled at Syntax and took the offered blueprints from him.
--
He wasn’t a big fan of those domestic snatches of time, he wasn’t.
It was mostly an instinctual response, Spiders were pack bonders, so of course when his internal senses started categorizing Sandy as ‘pack’ then he’d relax without intending to while being pulled in with a hand on his waist.
Which was definitely the reason why he was curled up to Sandy’s side, the cool slick feeling of his scales strange against his more leather-like skin. That stupid instinct was the only real reason why he felt so comfortable and like he could practically fall asleep like this.
He felt Blue’s hand gently start running up and down his side and dammit that wasn’t playing fair, it wasn’t his fault that he had been having sleeping problems lately and was rapidly getting drowsy.
He could feel Blue’s hum as the world started to drift away-
“Hey Sandy what do you think- Uhhhh”
“Oh, hello Xiaotian.”
“You know you’ve got a spider on you, right?”
“Oh yeah, Looked like he was having some paranoia problems, took a bit of wheedling to get out but Huntsman here was up for like four days straight ‘till now!”
“Did… Did you slip him your sleepy tea?”
“Of course not! That would be super unethical! Also I'm pretty sure he’s still semi conscious and passively listening without any critical thought right now since he only just dozed off and would probably wake up angry if he overheard anything like that!”
“....right… so anyway-”
--
The brat knew.
Dammit he knew the brat knew. She definitely fucking knew.
He should have known better than to try anything with that Professional Snoop underfoot. But He’d had plans with Blue before having to get stuck with the brat tonight because the Queen needed Syntax’s expertise and the Sister was on shift at work and Goliath already had plans doing who knows what, and he was stuck with Minyi since he ‘didn’t have any plans’
He’d dragged his feet on the idea of cancelling with Blue, but he’d fucking done it so nobody could say he didn’t contribute to the upkeep of their clan’s youngest. It was just his luck that Sandy had been fine with coming over instead, and the brat had overheard some of the conversation and got excited about ‘Mr Sandy’ coming over to visit. The brat had insisted on stringing some of her fake flowers into his hair before he arrived, after dubbing him ‘suitably pretty’ (her words) she’d done up her own hair as similarly as she could because he certainly wasn’t helping her with her weird pre-’company is coming’ rituals.
And… Blue was a hit with the brat. He had an infinite amount of patience for the inane childish babbling, stooped low so she could string the remaining fake flowers in her possession (why did she have so many fake flowers?) into his beard, and offered to fix dinner for the lot of them (which was for the best since the brat was such a picky eater she could barely stomach some of his specialties)
And… he was not jealous of a six year old for how she was able to crawl into Blue’s lap while the lot of them watched some inane mystery show for the character drama alone since the brat called and explained the mystery within the first three minutes.
Blue was a bit awkward on the sofa, it made sense, Goliath would normally sit on the floor for how the height and width of the couch was not designed with bigger demons in mind, and Blue was considerably bigger than Goliath. So while the brat was cozy as could be in the place of honor, Huntsman was stuck perched on the arm of the couch as to not be crushed into it trying to squeeze in beside Blue.
Not that that would be a wholly unpleasant experience, but the presence of the brat made it go from tempting to awkward. Nonetheless, part of Sandy trying to get comfortable had included one of his arms resting on the back of the couch, and while it seemed the brat wasn’t paying attention, it slid down to wrap around his shoulders.
When the time came Minyi didn’t need to be told it was bed time for her, she loudly announced it herself, changed into her pajamas, and after saying goodnight to the both of them went on with a
“I am going to sleep now! And I will not be out of my room until morning so if anything were to be happening I certainly won’t know it, because I will be asleep.”
She smiled widely at Huntsman and closed her door.
Nosey little brat.
--
Tang huffed a quiet laugh as Sandy gingerly began to lift Huntsman into the air, his broken leg not quite able to be splinted just yet, let alone looked at properly. It seemed the lot of them had suffered some pretty nasty injuries from this last threat (and no doubt it would have been worse if their team and the Spider Clan hadn’t joined forces) including Tang himself despite being on the sidelines for most of it, he was pretty sure his shoulder was dislocated, and the cut on his forehead was still sluggishly bleeding all over the right side of his face, but compared to some of the others he was basically fine.
So once He was able to pop his arm back into place (Ouch) he took to handling cleanup with the only other ‘perfectly normal person’ here, a woman maybe a few years his junior, he’d seen her every so often with the Spider Clan (or rather, with Syntax) but he didn’t know her name.
“Do you think they actually think they’re being subtle?” Her words caught his attention and he turned to glance at the woman. She was in the middle of splinting Xiaojiao’s broken wrist and at Tang’s questioning glance, she nodded at Sandy and Huntsman. Oh!
“I’m sure Sandy thinks he’s the pinnacle of subtlety” Tang responded. He was pretty sure the ‘thing’ that had developed between their friend and the most brutal of the Spider Clan was the worst kept secret on the team since Red Son had started hanging out with Xiaotian and Xiaojiao on the weekends.
“They are so cute when you just walk in on them.” Xiaojiao said around a snicker. “Like how they jump apart like when you flip a magnet over to the matching side.”
“Does your team have a betting pool? My brother organized one for the clan, and if they do anything damning within the next month i win the pot.”
“No! Ohh man we should get one started up! Hey Pigsy! You wanna make a betting Pool for Sandy and Huntsman’s secret romance?”
“Why the hell would i want to do that?”
“Finally have dirt on Sandy after decades of him never being embarrassed about anything ever?” Tang offered with a shrug.
Pigsy thought for a moment and shrugged back before going back to fussing over Xiaotian. “Sure. Who’s bettin’ what?”

N’Pressions: Monkie Kid
So I finally got around to seeing the two part pilot of Lego’s new television series: Monkie Kid. On YouTube. Because cartoon network is an ass when it comes to Lego franchises. And yes I’m still sore about you screwing with Nexo Knight’s 3rd season schedule! Anyway, I guess to get the Chinese audience invested, Lego decided to base its newest sets of one of the most well-known Chinese Legends Sunwu Kong aka the Monkey King. Admittedly I’m not full hoard into Hollywood’s recent habits of capitulating to the Chinese market of late largely because a part of me feels like it’s holding the entertainment industry back despite what people claim it to be. But that’s another series of thoughts for another time.
Lego has decided to do something of a sequel to the legend rather than a direct retelling. And they decided to go 2D animation instead of their usual CGI. Don’t get me wrong. I am not against many of their shows and specials being in CGI especially when you consider just how far Ninjago’s animation has come since season 10. And it’s clear there is a very heavy anime style inspiration for it. And if I may gush about this for a little-the animation is one of the best things about this special. It is very fluid and expressive and many of the action scenes are continuous shots rather than jump cuts-which is no surprise since it is the same studio that has given us Rise of TMNT-a show I have mixed feelings on but more positive than negative. And I am very thankful for it. Not because it’s been a while since we’ve really had TV animation like this-but I feel Monkee Kid would not have worked as well as it could have if it had been CGI. Most of its humor, dialogue, and design hugely benefits from the freedom of exaggeration that 2D provides. True there is a lot of embellished appearances for the characters however, unlike a lot of current western cartoons right now there is a bit of theming to them. For example-much of Red Son’s expressions deal with fire in some form and he’s either super angry or super worshipful. Princess Iron Flail uses wind and is often dialed back into a regal stoicness. Mei flips between abundantly joyful and creepily murderous while surrounded by hues of green. MK is very Tex Avery with hues of yellow, etc etc. Its small touches like those that can help sell the character even without much backstory. Speaking of which-I do enjoy from what we have of the main cast so far. MK is a Sun Wukong enthusiast and eats up Teng’s legends. He’s also a bit of a slacker with a smart mouth. My biggest concern right now though is Mei and Sandy because right now they didn’t get to do much and were mostly vehicles for MK. My personal favorite is Red Son and his family dynamic. It’s pretty clear he adores and worships both of his parents but so far has not gotten much in return despite it appears so far he’s done the most work from the bull drones, the magic gauntlet that lets them use the Staff, and Demon Bull’s armor. He’s also the most entertaining to watch both being hilarious and dangerous at the same time. And Tumblr has already shipped him with MK. Seriously people?
The weakest part would be the story though. It’s a pretty basic “ancient evil returns and the next generation of heroes must fight him/find the original hero to stop them only for them to have to do it themselves”. It’s not necessarily a bad thing, but it does feel a bit rushed especially in the second half especially with MK able to summon a giant monkey mech and almost total kill Demon Bull. I’m not entirely sure where the story could go from there from such a high peak. I know the point is to tell the sets, and yet they might have rushed out the story to accommodate the first wave too soon. It could make all other episodes seem weaker by comparison. And that is a bit of a shame because theirs is clearly more story to be told from the setup. Mei seems to have dragon powers and Pigsy and Sandy have some kind of history together. Also there seems to be a hint of fatherly relationship between Pigsy and MK. Like why else would he be willing to take MK to Flower Fruit Mountain or feel really emotional after believing MK was killed by Iron Flail. Still I am very curious to see where they’re going to take this because it has been a long time since I could enjoy a show that was just fun but not stupid. I’m Noctina Noir, and I’m one Nox of a Nobody.

So...how did MK break the news to everyone (including Red) that he and Red were gonna be parents?
OK so. I’ve been skirting around this in my prompt fills because... I kinda don’t completely know yet? I have a basic IDEA of what happens in what I have been calling the “Rainy Talks AU” (because I know this is going to be canon divergent once season 2 comes out and it started with that fic I am still writing) but I’ve been writing by the seat of my pants.
I’ll put this under a read more since it is pretty long, but here’s the basic outline for “MK and Red Son Decide To Have A Child”.
So this doesn’t exactly go the traditional way of “everyone we’re having a baby in 8 months”, this is more a “we’re making plans to have a baby and we’re telling specific people at specific times because we have issues to work around here”.
For Red Son, he and MK talk out most of their joint decisions well in advance in this AU. When they have something big, like getting married, they talk out exactly what they both want and come to an agreement on who they trust more to make the final decision (usually it’s both of them). They decided very early after being engaged that they both absolutely want at least one child. It’s the when and how they get caught up on, because of Red Son. As excited and willing as he is, he’s also incredibly nervous because unlike MK at this point he doesn’t really have a lot of a support structure behind him in his family life and he keeps forgetting that MK’s friends are family are HIS too now. Ultimately, he puts his trust in MK and asks that he just remind him to stop overthinking the family stuff until he starts being more comfortable.
Wukong learns after MK hears Red call Wukong “Dad” by accident (in this AU, Wukong has legally adopted MK as his son because “MK’s parents are assholes”). MK tells Wukong “so we’re thinking of having a kid” and Dadkong mode kicks in. He had already wanted to renovate the Shame Temple so he could try to spend time with everyone again at this point, now he makes it his mission so MK doesn’t have to fly over molten lava WITH A BABY. He is so excited and while his parenting advice isn’t the best since he’s used to helping raise baby monkeys and not... well, babies, he’s going to be the biggest support the two have until Mystic Monkey Business calls him away. The man cries when MK sends him pictures of Xiaodan and he is incredibly upset that he has to wait to meet her because he is so happy to be a grandpa.
Bringing this back to Red, he learns once the renovations to the temple are completely done. Mac had to leave a few days before it was finished and MK and Wukong finished the last room which just so happened to be a nursery and he puts 2 and 2 together that MK is ready whenever he is and it does not take long after that.
Pigsy, Tang, Sandy, and Mei all learn when the two gather them together at Pigsy’s restaurant after it is 100% confirmed they WILL be having a kid. Everyone is ecstatic and Pigsy and Tang are just as proud to be grandpas as Wukong and Mei is honorary Auntie. Sandy is designated “fun uncle” and he absolutely knits them cat themes baby stuffs.
Poor Macaque though... they meant to tell him, honest they did. He was supposed to learn when he and Wukong built the nursey with MK. MK even wrote him a draft message to send him while on that Mystic Monkey Business. He just... kinda forgot to finish it. So he learns when he comes back and “WHY DOES MY MATE HAVE A BABY” happens. He’s happy for them once the shock leaves his system.
But then we have the problematic part. DBK and PIF. Their relationship with Red in this AU is strained, to say the least. They’re not exactly happy that Red decided to gallivant off with peasants, let alone with the Monkey King’s successor. They were decidedly not happy when he actually started fighting them, even if he made it a point to try reasoning with them first. But they could never bring themselves to physically harm him, he is their son, and even as emotionally abusive as they are in show that’s too far for them (at least that’s the logic they are using, I also see them as stand out assholes even for demons because of their dialogue and actions in the racing episode). Then they start to realize just how much they fucked up their relationship with their son when they received not a formal invitation to their wedding but a personalized letter from Red Son begging them to just stay away and not to attack because Red Son does not beg like that and he is actually scared of them. At first they’re angry. Then they’re just... sad.
They don’t come to the wedding... but they don’t attack either. No one says anything if they saw the large form of a bull demon watching from the top of a building in the distance or if they noticed the wind was oddly calm for this time of year.
Their attacks start to wind down too. No one says anything but they notice.
Red sends them letters every time something major happens, because he wants to at least not keep them in the dark about his life. He never gets a reply back. But those days are calmer than usual, strangely.
He tells them he has a daughter now. He had a request in the letter but he scratched it out on both sides so they couldn’t read it. There are water stains on the page.
They send him a package. They have Monkey King open it, to be safe. It’s a protective charm. It’s written in his mother’s hand. They don’t attack anymore.
Their relationship is strained but ironically it’s the best it has been in centuries. And Red Son doesn’t know how to feel about that.
