Talking, Thinking, and the Search for Happy

Worked from home today—less commuting, more reflecting. I had two appointments: a visit with the GP and then a check-in with my psychologist.

The GP part was straightforward—just gathering my medication history since 2023 to pass along to the professor. No big surprises there. But the psychologist? That’s always a different kind of journey.

Every time I go in thinking, “I don’t have much to say today,” and 45 minutes later I’ve practically given a TED Talk on my thoughts. I’m honestly wondering if I should start recording these sessions—not to share, just so I can revisit the insights later. He gives good advice and knows how to challenge the way I think without making me feel small.

Is it weird to want to record your own session? Is that even allowed? I mean, it’s my voice, my story... but still, probably best to ask.

My big takeaway today? I need to find what makes me happy. Real, lasting happy. Not validation—which I chase like candy—but joy that’s mine, not borrowed from praise.

This summer I've been really able to test my bravery and push hard to manage and control my fears. Thanks to the rather lovely @aj_nesquik I got to try a pretty big challenge - backflipping off a bungee bridge! The video and cheesy grins say it all, we had a killer day. I’m finally really happy with myself or maybe I’m just changing, who knows?

I’ve been self conscious almost all my life especially since I’m not the skinniest of people and I do have some chub, I’m a chubby alien. Well, lately I’ve finally gone into realization that it’s okay. I don’t need to be “skinny” to love myself. Yeah I’d love to lose some weight but coming from a family who doesn’t really have a lot of skinnier people in it, I honestly can’t really do anything.

My body is a masterpiece of art that before I never really thought was beautiful and now, it’s like I’m finally seeing the true colors come into place and the real picture.

My whole style is changing. I’m wearing more black, chokers, chains, I wanna dye my hair blue. Yes I still have social anxiety which makes me quiet but honestly, idgaf anymore about what people think of me. I’m about to apply for a job to help with my social skills and honestly, I’m so proud of myself.

what is the first step?

What is the first step to changing and stopping old habits. I've been doing the same thing for the past five or more years. I've never felt worthy. I've felt like I had to have this "I don't give a shit attitude", but the truth is I care. In fact, I care too much sometimes. My feelings hurt so easily. I can cry about anything. Hell I even cried whenever I see homeless and abandoned animals. So what do I do to take these feelings away. The feeling of unworthiness, of addiction, of my sadness. I mean sure you can go to therapy, but they will always tell you it starts within yourself to change. And that's just it, what's within is just plan ole fear and sadness for no reason. So what is my first step? This journey is what Im on now. Findiing out what fulfils me and occupy me.
