Are you lying awake at night wondering if your life has any real meaning, or if God actually has a specific plan just for you?
This question haunts countless believers who feel lost in the maze of daily routines, career pressures, and endless responsibilities. The beautiful truth is that God's purpose for your life isn't hidden in some mysterious vault waiting for you to crack a divine code – it's woven throughout Scripture and revealed through prayer, community, and faithful obedience.
Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us, "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, to give you hope and a future." This isn't just a pretty verse for greeting cards; it's God's personal promise to you. Your purpose isn't something you stumble upon by accident – it's something God reveals as you walk closely with Him.
The key to discovering God's purpose lies in understanding that it's not always about grand gestures or dramatic callings. Sometimes God's purpose for you is found in the small, faithful acts of love you show your family, the kindness you extend to coworkers, or the way you serve in your local church. Mother Teresa said it perfectly: "We cannot all do great things, but we can do small things with great love."
Start by examining your God-given gifts and passions. What makes your heart come alive? What problems in the world burden you deeply? Often, God places specific concerns on our hearts because He wants to use us to address them. Whether it's caring for the elderly, mentoring young people, creating art that glorifies God, or building businesses that serve others – your purpose is likely connected to what moves you most.
Prayer is absolutely essential in this journey. Spend time in quiet conversation with God, not just asking for direction, but listening for His gentle whisper. Sometimes His guidance comes through Scripture that suddenly speaks to your situation, sometimes through wise counsel from mature believers, and sometimes through circumstances that open or close doors.
Remember that God's purpose for your life will always align with His character and His Word. He will never call you to something that contradicts Scripture or asks you to compromise your integrity. His purposes bring life, hope, healing, and His glory – not destruction, despair, or self-glorification.
Be patient with the process. God often reveals His purpose gradually, like dawn breaking slowly across the horizon. Trust that He is working even when you can't see the full picture. Your job is to remain faithful in the small things while keeping your heart open to His leading.

One Week In: A New Perspective

It's been a week since I truly committed to writing, and already, I can feel something shifting inside me. Putting my thoughts into words has forced me to slow down and reflect in a way I never have before. It's as if I'm seeing life through a different lens—one that sharpens the details I used to blur out in the chaos of everyday life.
Writing has made me realise how much I used to take people at face value. I never really stopped to consider their struggles, their quiet victories, or the battles they fight behind closed doors. Now, I find myself looking deeper, listening more, and understanding that everyone has a story to tell. It’s easy to judge or make assumptions, but when you start to see people as complex, layered beings, compassion becomes second nature, although this will not take my focus away from putting myself first.
I’ve also started to notice changes within myself. The emotions I used to bottle up now have an outlet. Instead of letting frustration or sadness weigh me down, I pour it onto the page, and in doing so, I feel lighter, freer. Writing has given me a way to process my feelings rather than bury them. It’s a release, but also a tool—a way to understand myself better, to make sense of my experiences and turn them into something meaningful.
My motivation is building, slowly but surely. The more I write, the more I want to do something meaningful—not just for myself, but for my two children, my close friends, and the people who matter most. I don’t want life to just happen to us; I want to take control, to shape a better future, to create something that leaves a lasting impact. Whether that means supporting my friends in their own journeys, showing my children the power of resilience, or pushing myself towards new opportunities, I know I need to act.
I’m also becoming more aware of the little things—the moments of joy, the signs of progress, the way small acts of kindness can have such a huge effect. Before, I might have overlooked these things, too focused on what was going wrong or what I didn’t yet have. But now, I’m seeing that every positive step, no matter how small, matters.
I don’t have all the answers yet, but for the first time in a long time, I feel like I’m on the right path. Writing has opened my eyes, and now, I just need to keep moving forward. This is only the beginning, and I can’t wait to see where it takes me.

Second Chances Shaina Tranquilino November 3, 2024
Jack had always lived life in the fast lane. He was successful in his career, relentlessly ambitious, and driven by the need to prove himself. Friends, family, the simple joys—they all came second to the next big deal, the next milestone. He’d never stopped to consider what he might miss if he lost it all.
Then, one foggy morning, everything changed.
The memory of the accident was hazy—a car spinning out of control, the crush of metal, the sound of sirens. Jack had spent weeks in the hospital, drifting in and out of consciousness, cocooned in pain and regret. His body was healing, but it was his heart that had changed the most.
During those quiet, sterile nights, he felt something stirring deep within him. Faces he hadn’t thought about in years came to mind, their expressions softened with smiles. He recalled Sunday dinners at his mother’s house, the warmth of his father’s hand on his shoulder, his brother's infectious laugh. He thought of his friend Danny, who had called countless times only to receive a short, hurried response. And he thought of Sarah, the love he’d let slip away because he hadn’t had the time to nurture it.
When he finally went home, everything felt different. The walls of his spacious apartment seemed colder, emptier. It was as though he could see his life in two versions: the one he’d been living, and the one he could have lived had he cared more for the people who had loved him without condition.
The first call he made was to his mom. She answered on the first ring, her voice shaky with relief. They spoke for hours. She told him how she’d prayed for him every night and how, no matter how many times he brushed her off, she’d never stopped hoping he’d come back to them.
Next, he visited Danny, his best friend from college. They met at a small café they used to love. As they sat across from each other, Jack felt the weight of all the canceled plans, all the unreturned messages. But Danny just grinned, his eyes warm. "Took you long enough," he joked, clapping Jack on the shoulder. They talked like no time had passed, picking up where they’d left off. And for the first time in years, Jack laughed—really laughed.
Finally, he reached out to Sarah. She was hesitant, guarded. She had a right to be. But she listened, and he could see the hurt softening as he apologized for the countless times he’d put work before her. They took it slow, meeting a few times for coffee. Jack knew it would take more than a few dates to mend what he’d broken, but he was willing to try.
Over time, Jack found himself savouring the moments he’d once overlooked. Cooking with his mom, a lazy afternoon on his dad’s porch, laughing with Danny over memories of their younger selves, the warmth in Sarah’s eyes as they rebuilt their connection. These were no longer interruptions in his life—they were his life.
The accident had changed Jack. He’d been given a second chance, and he was determined to make it count. Now, each day felt like a gift, each relationship like a blessing. Life was slower, softer, but it was fuller than he had ever dreamed.
And for the first time, Jack felt that he was truly living.

The Allure of the Unknown: Reimagining My Space, Reimagining Myself
Lately, I’ve found myself wrestling with a significant decision: the thought of discontinuing my current blog subscription and migrating to a new hosting platform. It’s a notion that has been circling my mind for a few days now, and it’s not just about the technicalities. There are deeper currents pulling me in this direction, primarily a yearning to shed an old image and, perhaps more…

Hey there, party people!
First up on the list: gardening. I’ve got some containers going already, Kurt is building me a raised bed, and life is life-ing.
Squirrels are squirrels—and squirrels are adorable monsters. So are deer. Just absolute MONSTERS. Adorable. Monsters. Last year I tried strawberries and the squirrels ripped them out. This year, I’m experimenting: one strawberry on the railing, one in a container on the ground next to the deck. Let the games begin.
Here’s what else I’ve got going:
Strawberries
Basil
Herbs (via a seed bomb from Target—wish me luck)
Peonies
An onion (it started sprouting in my kitchen, so now it has a destiny)
Sugar snap peas
Various flower seeds sprinkled literally everywhere.
I really hope the strawberries work this time, my toddler is a total berry FIEND.
Also picked up some supposedly deer-proof plants for the front yard.
Wish me luck. I’m gonna need it.

✨ Sunday Soul: When You Lose Your Purpose (But God Still Has One for You)
There was a time I thought I had found my purpose. When I joined Charity Baptist Church, they were in the middle of a teaching series on purpose. It felt like a divine setup. I jumped in, heart first—teaching young adults, stepping up as treasurer, and helping guide the church toward financial stability. I wanted to see it grow, and by God’s grace, it did. “Whatever you do, work at it with all…

The Weight of Now
I thought dealing with the past was hard, Until I had to face the here and now. Trying to make sense of the tragedy Was like digging my own grave— But the present is far more terrifying. When I faced the trauma, it took everything I had. It stripped me bare, down to my core. A new kind of coldness crept in— Because carrying my pain had kept me warm. Not healthy, but familiar. Passion…

Elderwood Chronicles Chapter 3

The Fractured had grown used to silence. He had grown used to the weight of his own thoughts, the endless path stretching ahead without promise or purpose. But that day, something in the air changed. The wind shifted, carrying warmth instead of the usual cold. The trees swayed as if whispering a secret. And then—he saw her. She stood in the clearing like a dream he was afraid to wake from. Her presence was soft, yet strong, as though the world itself had bent gently around her. There was something familiar in her eyes, though he had never seen her before. She did not look at him with fear or pity. She saw him. “You’ve been walking a long time,” she said. He didn’t know how to respond. She stepped closer, and where her feet touched the ground, life seemed to stir beneath them. “Does it hurt?” He hesitated, then nodded. “It always does.” She reached out—not to fix him, not to erase his fractures, but to simply acknowledge them. He had forgotten what it felt like to be seen without judgment. For the first time in forever, the cracks within him didn’t feel so heavy. But before he could speak, something changed. The air around them trembled, and her expression shifted—not fear, but knowing. She closed her eyes, listening to something only she could hear. She sighed, a sound full of longing and quiet pain. “I have to go.” The Fractured stiffened. “Go?” “There’s something I have to do. Something important.” His body, fragile and broken, suddenly felt even more hollow. He had just met her. He had just begun to understand what it meant to feel warmth again. He clenched his fists. “Will you come back?” She stepped closer, placing a hand over the hollow space where his heart once was. “This is not goodbye,” she whispered. “Not forever.” And then, like the wind through the trees, she was gone. The silence returned, but it was different now. It was no longer empty. He was still The Fractured. He was still waiting. But for the first time, he wasn’t just waiting to endure—he was waiting to become. He turned to Ori, his voice steady. “Let’s keep going.” Read the full article

The Last Act Shaina Tranquilino August 25, 2024
Henry Aldridge had spent the better part of his life under the warm glow of stage lights, his voice carrying the weight of countless characters to eager audiences. For decades, he had been the star, the one who commanded attention with every gesture, every line delivered with the precision of a master craftsman. But time, as it does, had softened his once-powerful presence. The roles became fewer, the applause quieter, until one day, he took his final bow and retreated into the quiet life of retirement.
Years passed, and the theater world moved on without him. Henry filled his days with long walks, old books, and memories of a time when the world seemed to revolve around him. Yet, something was missing—a spark, a purpose. He had left the stage, but the stage had not left him. It lingered in his thoughts, in the way he still spoke as if delivering a soliloquy, in the way he missed the buzz of opening night.
One crisp autumn morning, as he strolled past the old theater where he had performed countless times, a poster caught his eye. "Auditions for The Winter's Tale, directed by Laura Townsend." Laura, a dear friend and former co-star, was now a respected director in her own right. Impulsively, Henry pushed open the heavy doors and walked inside, the familiar scent of dust and velvet bringing back a flood of memories.
Laura was surprised to see him, her eyes widening with delight as she embraced him. "Henry! What a wonderful surprise!"
They chatted for a while, catching up on life and reminiscing about the past. Then, as they talked about the upcoming play, Laura hesitated before asking, "Henry, have you ever thought about directing?"
He was taken aback. Directing? He had always been the one in the spotlight, never the one behind it. But as she explained that she needed someone with his experience to guide the young actors, Henry felt a flicker of excitement he hadn't felt in years.
"Why not?" he said finally, surprising himself as much as Laura. "Let's give it a try."
Rehearsals began, and Henry found himself in a new role, one that required patience, wisdom, and a different kind of artistry. He watched as young actors stumbled over lines, struggled with stage directions, and wrestled with the characters they were trying to bring to life. It was frustrating at first, seeing them make mistakes he would have avoided, but then something changed.
Henry realized that this was his opportunity to pass on everything he had learned. He started offering gentle guidance, sharing techniques that had been passed down to him, and encouraging them when they felt overwhelmed. Slowly, he began to see the spark in their eyes, the moment when they understood the character they were playing, the joy of finding the right rhythm in a scene.
The play took shape, and with it, Henry found his own transformation. He was no longer the star, but he was something more—a mentor, a guide, a bridge between the past and the future. Opening night arrived, and as he watched from the wings, the young actors delivered their lines with confidence, their performances a reflection of the passion he had rekindled in them.
As the final curtain fell and the audience erupted into applause, Henry felt a sense of fulfillment he hadn’t known he was missing. He had returned to the stage, not to relive past glories, but to find a new purpose, a new role that suited him perfectly.
When the cast called him to join them on stage, he hesitated for only a moment before stepping into the light. The applause was for them, but it was also for him—for the man who had once been the star and had now found his place as the guiding hand behind the scenes.
