SAVE SECTION 230
CALL YOUR HOUSE REPS AND SAVE SECTION 230 AND STOP THE TAKE DOWN ACT
I know the past few months have been hard on all of us but a greater threat approaches. major gov leader dick durben wants to sunset section 230 and pass a bill called the TAKE DOWN act, both bills have the capacity to give the trump administration complete control the internet.
Sunset 230 is a protection from lawsuits made if you make a third party we sit that isn’t connected to major sites, while the first amendment protects your free speech section 230 would prevent lawsuits by gov figures. If section 230 is gone you would be silenced not by the lack of 1st amendment protections but by the extreme financial gutting you have to deal with those law suits.
By destroy section 230 it would result in less moderation and world wide censorship
The TAKE DOWN ACT will double down on this move as that bill removes end to end encryption so the government can just read your DM’s there is also no protection from false reports that can be used to remove sex Ed, LGBTQ+ content, and reproductive healthcare resources. This level of censorship results in trump silencing his critics as well as the rest of the world as well as just straight up 1984 type nonsense! The worst part is that it passed the senate ALREADY!
So after learning all that how can you stop it….
CALL HOUSE REPS FOR THE TAKE DOWN ACT ANDTO SAVE SECTION 230

LA Protests against Gestapo ICE Raids.
Fascinating shots of vehicles set on fire, explicitly modified with chimney/flue structures and likely stocked inside the vehicle to prolong the dark smoke and burn time.
There's three of them in total in this immediate stretch of road, driven into place on the street before being lit.

In press conference around 1700 local time, LA City Mayor clarified that federally activated National Guard troops were limited to explicitly protecting federal buildings in downtown LA, and were not present elsewhere in the city or on the streets. Crowd control was strictly within the jurisdiction of LAPD personnel and remained there. CHP also assisted law enforcement in clearing protestors from Route 101, where they had at one point blocked traffic in both directions.
Hegseth still has USMC forces at Twenty-Nine Palms on standby for rapid deployment.
City Mayor reiterated that she supports LA residents exercising their rights to protest *peacefully* and once again reminded everyone that escalation of the situation would only serve the goals and intentions of the administration without actually accomplishing anything else.

The reality and ramifications of the TikTok ban should be frightening to US citizens. All I know is that I will never go back. Whether Trump “saves” it or it gets bought by one of the big three. It will never be the same, and its motivations will be shady.

On free speech
These two did a good job of keeping me occupied Saturday. I hadn’t seen them in two months, and I needed Charlie kisses and Ollie goofiness; I got both. Image by Sarah Kinsey. Many know that I take a break from social media on Saturdays; I spend the day doing anything but checking Facebook, Threads or other social media platforms in an effort to give my brain and blood pressure a break (this…

In response to the Supreme Court being illegitimate and the government making virtually any meaningful attempt to unfuck itself illegal, I propose that for Q1 2024 we do a quiet strike, nationwide, to really hit them where it hurts. What that means to me is:
1. Quiet quitting of course, do the very basic minimum at work to not get fired and be stringent about only working your required hours, not a minute more.
2. Quiet boycotting, purchase only necessities that you have to like food and gas, but only at certain grocery stores and keep purchases to as local, small businesses as possible.
3. Loud begging, apply for any and all services and programs the government has to offer, even if it doesn't pertain to you. Just try to get them to give out as much money as possible to break their banks.
4. Hopefully if enough people do this, we can start a recession and force the government to change. Other than violence, this is the only way to spark it at this point.

Yes, this is still valid.
dear usamerican high schoolers looking for a way to resist fascism: sit through the pledge of allegiance.
no getting up. no looking at the flag.
everyone will be looking at you. you'll be sweating like a fucking hippopotamus. your teacher will sternly tell you to get up. you'll feel stupid and that maybe its not worth it because you're just a kid in a classroom. but I'm here to remind you that there are no real life consequences to detention. there are however real life consequences to resisting a thoughtless performance of nationalism.

An administrator with the diversity, equity and inclusion office at the University of Michigan was fired Tuesday after she was accused of making antisemitic remarks – and now she plans to pursue legal action against the school, her attorney said.
Rachel Dawson, who served as director of the university’s Office of Academic Multicultural Initiatives, was accused of saying “the university is controlled by wealthy Jews” during a conversation with two professors at an academic conference on diversity and equity in late March, according to documents obtained by CNN.
Dawson was also accused of saying, “We don’t work with Jews. They are wealthy and privileged and take care of themselves” and that “Jewish people have ‘no genetic DNA’ that would connect them to the land of Israel,” according to the documents.

“The law is extremely clear that public employees are protected by their First Amendment rights,” Ghannam said.
A university spokeswoman declined to confirm on Thursday whether Dawson had been fired, saying that the university would not comment on personnel matters, the New York Times reported. CNN has reached out to the University of Michigan for comment.
The incident comes after months of escalating tensions between the university’s administration and pro-Palestinian students who have demanded leaders divest from Israel. Days ago, the home of a Jewish member of the university’s Board of Regents was vandalized with pro-Palestinian graffiti. It also comes as the school faces backlash from students and faculty over planned cuts to its diversity, equity and inclusion programs.

I expect the Marines will be more prepared, having had more forewarning. This is not how the federal government should be treating 300 Californians who wear the uniform on behalf of their state. On the upside, at least it wasn't two thousand personnel.

Of course it's from Utah. Nothing good comes out of Utah.
Okay, so the text of the bill is very short. It would amend the Communications Act of 1934 to define "obscenity" for every state. This is an issue, constitutionally speaking. The existing precedent, the "contemporary community standards" test introduced by Miller, rests on this idea that every state has its own definition of what is obscene. And, likewise, every state should be able to define for itself what is obscene. Enacting this bill would necessarily take that power away from the states and centralize it in the federal government.
This Mike Lee motherfucker has some brass balls if he thinks every state is going to bend the knee to his mormon-ass definition of obscenity.
Well shit, the Republicans brought a certain anti-online porn bill back to the table.
The Interstate Obscenity Definition Act.
This should alarm you guys.

Judge blocks Trump push to cut public school funding over diversity programs
CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — A federal judge on Thursday blocked Trump administration directives that threatened to cut federal funding for public schools with diversity, equity and inclusion programs. The ruling came in a lawsuit brought by the National Education Association and the American Civil Liberties Union, which accused the Republican administration of giving “unconstitutionally vague” guidance…

AIPAC isn’t the reason why Bowman or other anti-Israel progressives lose.
They’re being ousted from office because their loony views, including but not limited to anti-Zionism, are far out of step with their districts.
AIPAC, which has been around since 1963, is a convenient target for their anti-Israel grievances.
The group has long taken flak from opponents who argue that it nefariously influences American policy, but its critics are mistaken.
Take campaign contributions, for which AIPAC is often attacked: AIPAC has the same First Amendment rights that all Americans do.
One wonders why this one group, whose staff and supporters are significantly Jewish, is so criticized for backing candidates who support the world’s sole Jewish state.
And AIPAC is far from the nation’s most prolific campaign contributor: According to Open Secrets, it has been outspent by 11 other political action committees this election cycle.
When was the last time you heard someone deplore the machinations of the National Air Traffic Controllers Association, for example?
If AIPAC-haters had any interest in being honest, they would acknowledge that the group is hardly the only one to give money to politicians it supports.
And the money AIPAC spends often doesn’t bear fruit — in this and past years, it has backed its fair share of losing congressional candidates.
Some of AIPAC’s fiercest critics, like Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), remain in office.
