How much Darry and Soda would make modern day and if it would be enough to pay for at least the three of them: (note this may not be incredibly accurate and while yes I did do research while calculating this shit it wasn't super in depth! feel free to correct me on any and all mistakes you notice and feel free to also give your own opinions!! Much love!)
Starting with Darry's:
Before I get into number this is all assuming that Darry works exclusively the hours allotted to him while missing no work, he'd have a 5 day work week at 40 hours which is standard practice in the United States, except for his part time job which he'd be working 25/h a week (i talk about this more later just continue reading) also I'm not giving them any kind of insurance. Sorry! Lol!
Starting salary of a roofer in Oklahoma is $14/h with the average being around $15/h. Assuming this Darry will be getting around 30k a year. I'm going to be generous and say he works for a good company and has a strong union so I'll give him a end of year bonus as well ($200-$800)
His weekly pay would be around $550-$600
This would be taxed though! Using a taxing calculator (bc I'm not doing all that math babeee) He'd be payed around $500 a week.
Darry also canonically has a second job! Though it is never really talked about, not even mentioned whether it's part or full time. I'm just going to assume, generally, that it is probably a part time job that pays minimum wage. (I'm aware that there are many popular hc's as to what this job is I'm ignoring those lol) now I don't live in Oklahoma but I do have personal experience with working part time and it fucking sucks. They have you working only slightly less then a full time employee so they do not have to give you full benefits. It is an incredibly fucked up and exploitative practice.
Something to note is that Oklahoma allows part time employees to be payed half minimum wage the first 90 days of employment when under the age of 20. I do not think I will include this in the calculation because even though Darry would be 19 at the time of his parents death I think he would be 20 not long after and I do not care enough to look into this law to include it in my calculations! Just wanted to mention it because?? What the fuck Oklahoma?
Anyway, part time would have Darry working 25 hours a week for $7.25/h which would be around $180/week. After taxes he'd make $160/week getting him to $660 a week.
Finally, what everyone was waiting for.... doordash fucking driving baby. Considering he lives in a populated area I am going to be generous and say he manages to get around $20/h from doordash driving. Assuming he does this on the days he doesn't work part time (so the other 15 hours) he'd make a whopping 16k extra a year OMG!!
As for any money he'd earn from the state for guardianship of Pony and Soda: Idk! It's kind of confusing trying to figure out Oklahoma giving shit out for this because fostering and guardianship are two dif things and I'm almost certain Darry would have Guardianship over his siblings, not fostering them. So I'm just not including it: he may have received a check upon first becoming their guardian but since that is a one time thing I'm not going to include it in my final calculations (i know this is kinda contradictory for giving Darry a bonus for his roofing work but IDC IDC IDC IDC I AM NOT PUTTING THAT MUCH EFFORT INTO THIS (NOTE I FILLED OUT A MOCK W2 FORM TO GET A ROUGH ESTIMATE OF WHAT DARRY'S TAX RETURN WOULD BE BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN I CARE))
All of the above considered: Darry is making $960 a week. Wow!
Now for Sodapop!
Soda I'm just going to copy paste what Darry's theoretical part time job would be because it's almost time for me to go to bed and I couldn't find any special rules for 16< year olds, so he'd be working 25 hours for $7.25 which after taxes is again $160
In total him an Darry combined are making a good healthy $1120 a week on average. Probably more if you consider Darry going insane with doordash/overtime! Overall a good $4480 a month
GREAT NOW TIME FOR EXPENSES!!
Expenses Include:
Mortgage payments
power bill
water bill
natural gas
car payments (maybe)
car insurance (maybe)
fuel
food
phone payments
internet bill
probably more I can't remember off the top of my head
OKAY NOW explaining the maybe's rq
You can just, not pay for car insurance. It's illegal, but when you're poor it's not like you can really care about the legality of certain things. Sometimes, it's eating vs car insurance, y'know? Especially because Darry is only 20, that shit is going to be expensive. And the car was def under his dad's name previously so he also def doesn't have any history. I'mma be generous though and say that he does have CREDIT history, which following my own car insurance premiums: my man is going to be paying like, $400 a month. and trust me, I'm being generous here. This is also for liability only. crazy right? With that considered, if I can not get Darry's salary to work with the rest of his expenses I'm saying he's driving without insurance. Hope you understand.
Now for the car itself, it might be payed off already might not. Again it's almost time for me to go to bed so I"m not willing to double check the book to see if car payments are ever mentioned. If they are I'll come back and fix this another time but for now. I'm not including it.
As for the gas for this theoretical truck? I'm going to put it from $250-$300 a month based off of what Reddit car owners said on how often they have to get gas for their own trucks. Great!
OKAY NOW FOR THE REAL EXPENSES! The average cost of utilities in Oklahoma, Tulsa specifically, is $270 a month for electricity, like $130 a month for natural gas, and for water $100 a month. Now you're probably saying, "Paya, isn't that a little high?" to which I'd say, they have 4 (presumably more) other boys coming around almost everyday. SO I feel it's fine to rate that shit on the higher side of things.
Before I forget: the mortgage payments!
This one is kinda fucked! I have no idea when the Curtis parents bought the house in canon. If it was after, or before Darry was born, etc. Because of this you can kinda just make hc's for this. The reason I say this is because obviously the housing market now is VERY different from the one in the 40s-60s which is when they'd have had to buy the house in cannon. In fact, I'm not even entirely sure they own the house in canon I'm just assuming right now! Like, if you're making a modern au: feel free to say that they're renting! Like who really cares about it? I'll even calculate it here for you so you have a frame of reference: Assuming the house is at least 2 bedrooms 1 bathroom it's gonna be around 1.5k a month. If you want to say they're paying a mortgage though, I'm going to assume based off the little data I could find of average home cost in 2004 (I'm assuming the house was bought around the time of Darry's birth) we're looking at somewhere between 150k-250k. I'm going to low ball it though because I think Oklahoma housing prices are generally cheaper and I'm going to assume they'd go for something affordable over something large. So I'll say 175k! Average interest on a home loan in 2004 was around 6%, with a 20% downpayment Darry will be paying 1k a month for the mortgage. Not that bad!
Phone bill is p cheap around 100$ feel like you may be able to play around with this. Like maybe they're paying for Johnny? Who knows not me I want to go to bed!
Food is like so fucking expensive now tbh. I pay $300 a month on grocery shopping a month for my household. Assuming Darry is purchasing food for himself, his brothers, and a little extra for the gang I'm going to put his grocery bill at around $500 a month. I think I'm lowkey low balling it, but I think he'd be a good bargain shopper. Btw, don't ask if he qualifies for food stamps! Because he doesn't!
internet bill is significantly cheaper going to be around $50 a month, as for services like live streaming and other things, we're gonna say it's all pirated. no one is paying for that shit when you can get it online for free! (Personal hc: Steve is a fucking amazing pirate and can get you literally anything you ask for.)
Final cost of living for my boys, not including school supplies, school/extra curriculars/or clothing: $2400 - $3350
Ending conclusion: If Darry works 80+ hours a week and Soda helps out with his part-time job they have more then enough to pay for almost all living expenses. Tell me where I fucked up! Thanks. Btw according to the shittily done w2 I did for Darry he'd get almost 2k in tax returns; i most def fucked something up but I'mma accept it despite that.

every tax season after an election year people say "im going to protest by not filing my taxes" and even ignoring how bad of an idea this is from a "dont fuck with the feds" perspective, the more important thing is that if you make an amount of money above the poverty limit you probably have a 1099 or a W2 and based on a questionnaire you filled out when you got hired, your employer has already been withholding the taxes on your behalf, which they will generally aim to overestimate by a bit so that you end up getting a refund rather than owing money. this means if you dont file your taxes you are giving the government free money, not the other way around!
but dont worry. if it does turn out that you owe them money theyll be sure to track you down. and they will charge you interest and a nonpayment penalty on your back taxes. good luck with that

Alder Adopts N AU: B&W Full Story
I've been mostly telling this story through scattered posts and have made quite a few adjustments to the OG story, so here is a post where I throw everything together. TY to everyone that has contributed suggestions! (I don't have a story for B&W2 yet but will get to that once I finish the game)
Also also I'm not the best at plot heavy stories so if you have any constructive criticism I would be happy to hear it!
TLDR: Alder finds & raises N instead of Ghetsis, causing a disruption in his plan of Unova domination. Years later after getting told that the champion Alder is raising a boy that can talk to Pokémon, Ghetsis seeks to re-capture N and continue his goal of awakening Reshiram to defeat the Champion & take over Unova.
Now for the very VERY detailed version:
History
For a bit of history, Ghetsis has a brother who is the embodiment of Virtue and Purity (This stems from my HC of the two brothers). They are part of the Harmonia bloodline who once ruled Unova many years ago. The brother is kind, generous, and has the ability to communicate with all people including Pokémon (this trait is passed through the purity line), which is why he was crowned King of the remaining followers of the Harmonia family (The Pokémon league kinda has government power over Unova now, but there are still people that live under the rule of the old Harmonia family). Ghetsis on the other hand is the embodiment of Evil. Because of this he never got the throne, and loathed his brother for it.
Ghetsis crafted a plan for him to be able to take the throne from his brother. Using a Cofagrigus (specifically the one on his team), he tricked his brother into getting sucked inside the coffin & mummified. N is very young at this point, leaving Ghetsis as the only available Harmonia member to the throne. He soon turned his attention to world domination.
With his brother dead and his son left, Ghetsis was going to take advantage of N's ability to talk to Pokémon (that he knew would be inherited from his father's ancestry) to summon Reshiram since he could not do it himself. He would convince people to free their Pokémon so he would be the only one who had control. Once Reshiram was freed he would be able to overtake the champion and rule all of Unova. Except his plan would soon be disrupted...
The castle was thrown into disarray. Those who disagreed with Ghetsis were casted out of the castle. In the chaos the young N disappeared, foiling Ghetsis's plan. N was later found in the woods by a group of Pokémon, who would be the ones that eventually raised him.
In the absence of the old King, Ghetsis created Team Plasma, manipulating the people who followed him into liberating Pokémon from trainers under the guise of good intentions. Team Plasma went into secrecy, operating away from the public eye.
Without N, Ghetsis didn't have a figure he could put at the forefront of his plan, so he turned to the next two available characters: Anthea and Concordia. While they probably weren't able to summon the dragon like N could, Ghetsis crowned the two sisters as the Queens of Team Plasma anyways. Maybe with their combined power they would be able to take down the champion and that would be enough. He acted as their closest advisor and kept a close eye on them, paranoid that the two might team up and conspire against him.
While this was going on, the Pokémon Champion Alder had fallen from grace. Once a generous and headstrong champion, he had completely abandoned his responsibilities and left all the work to the Elite 4 members. Alder once had a Volcarona that he had every since he was young. But in his pursuit for power to maintain his position as Champion he pushed his Volcarona too far, which led to it's death. In the aftermath of this he was wracked with grief and guilt, fearful that he hadn't listened to his Pokémon enough and caused its demise. His passion for battling wavered, and he casted aside his champion responsibilities to wander Unova instead.
One day while he was trekking through a forest, he stumbled upon a young boy who was with a couple Pokémon (It's N!). He was curious but also a little concerned, since the boy didn't seem to have any family around. Alder decided to take the boy in, ending his aimless wanderings to return to his home.
Alder raised N as his own son, initially getting him adjusted to society. He quickly realized that N had the special ability to talk to Pokémon. This peaked his interest and he began to teach N about the human and Pokémon connection, especially how it was strengthened during battling. He found that N's ability to talk to Pokémon made him a very effective trainer since he was able to connect to his Pokémon well. He started to mentor N, which re-sparked his own passion for Pokémon battling. Alder began to pick up his roles as champion again, owning up to his responsibility of protecting Unova.
While N is living with Alder he has a very lively childhood. He and Alder like to wander around & explore Unova together, and spend a lot of time outdoors interacting with the wild Pokémon. N gets to meet a lot of different kinds of people, and sees the special connection that both people and Pokémon have together.
Alder encouraged N to use his powers wisely, recognizing that his ability to communicate with Pokémon gave him a lot of advantages. However he entrusted N's good will and never doubted that his son would use his abilities for good deeds.
N's team consists of the Zoroark, Sawsbuck, Darmanitan and Swoobat that raised him in the woods. On his journey through Unova he is amazed by the Klinks in Chargestone Cave, and one ends up following him/evolving into Klinklang. Finally his last Pokémon is an abandoned/injured Deino that he found in the woods. He raises it into a Hydreigon through compassion rather than hate. (Credit: Klinklang, Hydreigon)
News spread that the previously disgraced champion now had an adopted son who was becoming an exceptional Pokémon trainer. N was rising the ranks, growing closer to those around Alder (See here for Elite 4) and shaping up to be a possible future champion.
However, this news also spread to Ghetsis. The Shadow Triad came to Ghetsis one day with the news that Champion Alder had adopted a son who could talk to Pokémon, and they believed he could be the lost son N. Ghetsis was surprised, but now had hope that he would be able to summon the dragon once again if he could just get ahold of N. He sends the Shadow Triad to spy on N and Alder.
B&W Arc
By this time, N is around 18-20 years old. Alder has resumed his role as champion, and him and the Elite 4 are once again on good terms. Since Alder is busy with his duties N becomes the wandering one, traveling around Unova to talk to trainers & their Pokémon
This is when the protag starts their journey. They essentially go through the same B&W game story as a trainer traveling through Unova. I'm not gonna go through all the details, just the parts where there are differences.
The protag fights the sisters (alternating between A&C) in Accumula town & Nacrene city as they question the new trainer about the ethics of Pokémon battling, and later outside the Mistralton gym.
The protag first meets N at Nimbasa city, where he is staring up at the Ferris wheel. He introduces himself and talks to the protag about his fascination for Ferris wheels (as expected), and notes the protag's strong connection w/their Pokémon before wishing them good luck on their journey.
The protag meets Alder & N at route 5, where they introduce themselves as free-spirited father & son. They've been scoping out an increase in Team Plasma activity and warns the protag to be careful. They also appear together before Twist mountain with this same mission.
The protag finds N in Chargestone cave, peering at the crystals in wonder. He has a conversation with them & helps them battle past the grunts in the cave before heading off (Suggest here).
Atop the dragonspiral tower, the protag encounters Ghetsis with the Light stone, lifting it up into the air as he tries to summon the dragon to no avail. He sees the player approach and makes a hasty retreat
The sisters appear at Relic Castle a final time in search of the Dark stone for Ghetsis. Alder is there with the protag and warns the sisters that what they are attempting to do is not as good as they think it will be. The sisters ignore his words, vowing that they will defeat him and liberate all Pokémon
When N is traveling through the forest, he is attacked by the Shadow Triad. They expect the fight to be quick but N is strong, battling back ferociously. They were ordered not to hurt N but being unable to defeat him, the Shadow Triad barrel through N's Pokémon and take him hostage, forcing his Pokémon to stop fighting in fear of hurting him. N convinces his team that he'll be alright, reluctantly leaving with the Shadow Triad as they disappear into the woods.
N's Pokémon come barreling into Alders home in a panic. Alder can't understand what they are trying to say to him but he realizes that something bad must have happened to N. He contacts all the gym leaders, and they all start a huge search for him.
Eventually Skyla reports back to Alder that during a flight across the region she saw Team Plasma's castle rising up to engulf the Elite four, as well as N being taken into Team Plasma's castle.
Alder comes running up to Drayden after the protag defeats him in Opelucid city, begging him for help. The Team Plasma castle had risen up and trapped the Elite four members within their confines. N had also been kidnapped by Ghetsis. He was gathering all the gym leaders to put a stop to their plan
Meanwhile in the castle, N is locked inside an empty room for multiple days (ironically the room that would have been his childhood room in cannon). He is upset and confused about what is going on, sometimes banging on the door & demanding an explanation while other times trying to reassure himself that he will be rescued. The two sisters come to visit him every once in a while to talk to him about Ghetsis's plans of liberation for the greater good of Pokémon. N is understandably unhappy with his situation but doesn't lash out at the sisters, instead seeing them as misguided. He tries to convince them that their world view is wrong. The two sisters secretly take an interest in N and his ideals, as they start to question their own beliefs with every conversation they have with him.
One day, the sisters come to the door and tell him that Ghetsis has called him to summon the dragon. The sisters guide N to the throne room and are greeted by Ghetsis. They are about to enter together except Ghetsis stops the sisters, takes N and slams the doors shut. The sisters are shocked but realize too late that Ghetsis has just locked them out of the room with the Light stone, leaving N and the dragon alone in his malicious grasp.
Once they are in the room N turns to Ghetsis, demanding an answer for everything. Ghetsis puts on a facade and lies to N, claiming that he is his true father and has been searching for him all this time. N is shocked, falsely believing his words are the truth. Ghetsis explains his plan to liberate Pokémon from people, claiming that Alder is the one that is in the wrong. Ghetsis then asks N to kindly help him free the dragon from the stone, "fulfill his duty as a son of the Harmonia family" so to speak.
N eventually succumbs to Ghetsis's lies and frees Reshiram from the light stone. Ghetsis is overjoyed, having finally gotten the dragon from his plan. He heard from the Shadow Triad that Alder was making his way up the castle, and awaits his arrival. Unbeknownst to them the protag would reach the room first.
The protag makes their way up the castle and stops at this very door, finding A&C helplessly trying to get in. The two queens express their feelings of betrayal. They were expecting to summon the dragon together and witness the start of a better future for Unova. But after Ghetsis locked them out they realized his true intentions were not for good but for evil.
Once the protag breaks in with A&C, they find Ghetsis with Reshiram, and N standing off to the side. Sensing Reshiram, Zekrom awakens from the dark stone in challenge. Ghetsis, angry that the protag has interrupted him, orders Reshiram to attack. The two dragons begin to battle.
Halfway through the battle N calls out to Reshiram to stop fighting. He had been pondering on the side and decided that Ghetsis's ideals were flawed. Ghetsis is shocked and argues back, demanding that N stop this nonsense. But N refuses to back down, deciding that he would rather put his trust into all of the lessons that Alder has taught him over the years. How Pokémon and people are better together and push each other to greater heights. Reshiram stops fighting and flies to N's, putting an end to the battle and leaving Ghetsis's side.
(TW: Violence) Ghetsis is furious. He swings his cane in a fit of rage and strikes N, knocking him to the ground. A&C run forward in a panic but are blocked by Ghetsis's team. The protag attempts to battle him but loses the fight. Ghetsis orders his Pokémon to attack everyone in the room. At this moment, Alder has made his way up to the top of the castle
Alder charges into the room with N's pokemon team by his side. He sees N injured and angrily turns to Ghetsis. Before he can send out his own Pokémon, N's team has already charged forwards and started battling Ghetsis's team. Thematically, N's team is victorious because they have all been raised with care and compassion, not cruelty.
Once Ghetsis's team is defeated, Alder sends out his own Pokémon to surround & prevent him from escaping. However, the Shadow Triad swoop in and take Ghetsis away, leaving behind their Bisharp & Ghetsis's injured team to defend their retreat. Alder makes quick work of the Pokémon but by that time Ghetsis has already escaped
Alder wants to go after Ghetsis but decides to help N first. They embrace and N apologizes for worrying Alder, which Alder immediately dismisses. They get ready to leave and then realize that Anthea and Concordia have disappeared among the chaos.
Aftermath
The gym leaders have rounded up as many grunts as they can and take them away while the castle is abandoned. Ghetsis has fled the castle and his whereabouts are now unknown. The dragons return to their stone forms and peace returns to Unova.
Alder drops the protag off at their house before he then takes N home. N is understandably shaken up about what happened, and now also confused about the information Ghetsis has told him. Alder assures N that Ghetsis isn't his true father, but admits that he doesn't know if N is actually part of the Harmonia family line. N says it doesn't matter, since Alder will always be his true father to him (Alder will definitely not admit that this made him tear up a bit).
One day there is a gentle knock at their door. Alder opens it and is surprised to see the former Queens of Team Plasma at their door. He is a little hesitant to talk to them at first, but they tentatively say that they mean no trouble. After the collapse of Team Plasma they were freed from Ghetsis's control and fled in fear. But now that the castle was abandoned they wanted to learn more about the world they had misunderstood all their lives. They apologized profusely about what happened, saying that they truly had no knowledge of Ghetsis's intentions. N assures Alder that the sisters cared for him back at the castle, and they plan out a little plot of land nearby where the sisters can build a cabin to stay in.
Thus begins a moment of recovery & peace as Team Plasma's presence fades away...for now

Taxes 2024: glass's quick and gritty guide to free filing those bitches
By god I hate doing my taxes but what I hate more is paying money for someone to do them for me.
Here's the thing. If taking your W2s and property taxes to someone with the training and paying them $70 makes you feel better. Do it. BUT if you're stubborn and bitchy, you CAN do it yourself and if you're reading this post I'm going to make the assumption that your AGI is less than $79000 and therefore you qualify for free file. (and if you don't know what an AGI is then yes, you qualify).
It's honestly going to be okay. We will get through it together.
This guide is not going to be thorough, and while I will try to answer questions if you ask them, I'm not an expert: my knowledge comes from filing my own taxes for the fourth (fifth?) year in a row using the free file program and going through a number of life changes that I have to reflect on my taxes.
The post includes a link and screenshots. I will describe the bare minimum information of the images in Alt Text, but will not fully transcribe the full text as all the images will be from the IRS website which has accessibility options.
Here we go:
I want you to go to this page and then chose the first big blue button (unless you want it all in Spanish, then click on Spanish and I'll pray for you that it's all the same process)
If you are a brave, brave soul then take the fillable forms and be free, my children. I cannot help you there.
BUT if you chose the guided software options it's going to take you to these options
You may chose to browse options on your own. This does feel somewhat choose-your-own-adventure and I'm not your mother or your boss. HOWEVER. I implore you to take the guidance as far as you can. Chose the big blue button that says "Find Your Trusted Partner(s)" (very polycurious, if I may say).
This survey is meant to be straightforward. There is a little blue questionmark that opens to explain the filing statuses very clearly and in detail. Chose the right status for you, then some other questions will show up. Answer the questions that come up (again, this general page should be info that is straightforward. most of us should be able to answer the general questions with just what's in our heads), then click next when the questions are done.
Now, you will need to know your income for this page, which probably mean you need your W2s or whatever other forms you might have that reflect/summarize your 2023 income. You don't need to get into extreme detail, you just need totals. Worked a couple of jobs and have W2s for all of them? Add "box 1" from each W2 together, select the first box under "Income" and type in your total in the fillable box that opens.
Further down this page is space for adjustments to your income, so stuff about student loans and health savings would be helpful, but again this survey isn't about the nitty gritty. Round numbers are fine.
Once you're done here, you'll click next and then it'll ask you about the Earned Income Tax Credit which is really just about if you have kids or not. Answer that question, click next and BOOM
This is the only free file partner that I qualify for this year (again, life changes), but in previous years I have used HRBlock and Tax Slayer. All three sites have been guided similarly to this survey and as easy to use as can be possible given the US tax system.
Thus ends my guided portion, as going to 1040(.)com will show you a great deal of my personal info, but I will give you a few more notes:
Throughout the year, collect your tax forms/important papers in a safe, secure place that YOU WILL NOT FORGET. (preferably a safe or at least a heavy fireproof security box).
Once you get to the tax website you're going to use, you will need all those papers.
Start your filing early. I like to start when I get my W2s.
For one, you'll get everything done and then in April when someone, stressed and anxious, asks if you remember that taxes are due, you can smugly say you filed ages ago. For another, if you do run into significant issues, you have lots of time to resolve them.
Don't necessarily file super early. Sometimes congress does stuff that affects taxes as late as March. It's easier and less stressful to edit your pending forms than it is to file a correction.
When you have all the information in, look up the local and national news and see if there's anything going on regarding taxes. This year there's talk about extending the child tax credit. I haven't kept up with that because it doesn't apply to me, but it might be important to you. If there's nothing happening that might affect you, go ahead and file.
If you have a question, ask! Even the free file services have a help section
I lied, one last snip. This is from 1040. They have an FAQ section, and it's not just about the site itself. I have submitted questions to all three services I've used and all of them have answered me.
They won't hold your hand through every step, but if you have a specific question, they'll do their best to answer it.
You can also do a general internet search! "what this form?" and "do i need to include XYZ on my taxes" are all things i've found the answers for by searching them on duckduckgo
HRBlock has a huge amount of accessible information that I've used often.
I'll wrap here by just saying - if you get frustrated, save your work and walk away.
I called my employer's HR to ask something, waited a couple days then started an email to them, and realized the answer as I was writing the email.
The earlier you start, the more time you have to figure things out. You can do it. Good luck.
#US taxes#taxes#tax help#sorry it's all one block of text. I don't have the energy to make it less Like This

Round L4, Poll #10
Remember, this is the losers bracket. We are matching up the winners of round L3. The winner of this poll will move on to round L5 against a loser from round W2, and the loser will be revealed.
Character 114: He's a time traveler whos generally fun loving and laidback, which hides his terrible secret: he'd been breaking time traveling rules and crossing timelines to save his partner from death over and over and over again
Character 238: She's a magical girl who is capable of wielding energy swords, giant energy fists, on top of her hand to hand combat skills and super strength. She can also fly and breathe in space. This came in handy when she had to fight her brainwashed childhood friend in space, and then fight God right after because he was trying to use Mars to destroy the Earth. She's terrible at math. She has a real can do attitude. She has no fashion sense. She's the best friend a girl with social anxiety could ask for. She beat a monster at a sportsball match once and it just gave up. She lives rent-free in my head.

Want to dominate your niche without paid ads? Read on.
At GrowOnMedia, we helped a growing startup go from invisible online to industry leader — all within 6 months, using nothing but the power of strategic blogging.
In this post, we’ll share:
The blogging blueprint we used (and still use!)
Our 3-phase funnel strategy (Awareness → Authority → Conversion)
Real client results + blog calendar sample
Phase 1: Intent-Driven Blogging for Awareness
We don’t write blogs for the sake of traffic — we write with search intent in mind. Each blog is mapped to a clear goal: solve, educate, or inspire.
How we did it:
Used tools like Google Search Console, AnswerThePublic, and Ubersuggest
Identified pain-point keywords our audience was actively searching
Wrote content that ranked AND resonated.
Example:
> Blog Title: “Why Most Startup Websites Don’t Convert — and How to Fix Yours”
Intent: Educate & build trust
Phase 2: Internal Linking & Authority Building
Great blogs are not stand-alone — they’re part of a structured content ecosystem.
Key tactics:
Smart internal linking to service pages and related blogs
Use of “pillar content” and “cluster content” to boost topical authority
Added case studies, testimonials, and expert quotes to build credibility
Pro Tip: Always place your Call-To-Action (CTA) after providing value, not just at the end.
Phase 3: Conversion Optimization
Once we had their attention and trust, it was time to convert.
We added:
Lead magnets like PDF downloads
Mid-blog CTAs with scroll-triggered popups
A/B tested landing pages linked directly from high-traffic blogs
Result?

Everything you need to know - from credit scores to closing day Buying a home is one of the biggest financial decisions you’ll ever make, and one of the most emotionally charged. Between sky-high prices in competitive markets and nerve-wracking paperwork, it can feel like navigating a maze with no exit. But don’t panic, if you know the path, you’ll get there. Whether you’re a first-time buyer or a seasoned investor, the journey to homeownership follows a set of time-tested steps. Master these 10, and you’ll not only get the keys, you’ll keep your sanity. Step 1: Know Your Credit Before Lenders Do Before a lender peeks into your financial history, you need to take a hard look yourself. Start with your credit report. These are pulled from the big three: TransUnion, Equifax, and Experian, and used to calculate your FICO and Vantage scores. You’re entitled to one free report annually from each agency. Find an error? Dispute it now, not after you’ve fallen in love with a house. FICO scores range from 350 to 850 and are what lenders use to gauge your trustworthiness. Generally, a score of 720+ lands you better terms on conventional loans. FHA loans are more forgiving, many lenders approve buyers with a 580 score or above. So what affects your score? Payment history, total debt, how long you’ve had credit, your new credit inquiries, and the types of credit in your name. Understand these and improve them, before step two. Step 2: Understand What You Can Afford Forget what the lender says for a moment, what can you realistically handle? You don’t need a full pre-approval to get a ballpark. A lender can pre-qualify you with basic financial info and a soft credit pull. Even easier: try tools like Zillow’s BuyAbility℠ or Home Affordability Calculator to crunch the numbers using your income, debts, and market interest rates. Then, adjust your expectations. Maybe you want four bedrooms, a garden, and a view. But if your budget says two bedrooms and a balcony, prioritize accordingly. Your list of must-haves should balance reality with dream. Step 3: Get Pre-Approved - Or Get Ignored In hot markets, sellers rarely entertain offers without pre-approval. In fact, according to Zillow’s 2022 survey, 86% of sellers prefer buyers who are pre-approved. To get there, you’ll need to share: Income documents (W2s, 1099s, tax returns) Asset statements (retirement funds, savings) Details on debts (credit cards, student loans) Other obligations (child support, alimony) Records of any bankruptcies or foreclosures Your lender will calculate your debt-to-income ratio, then issue a pre-approval letter, your golden ticket to making offers. Pro tip: you don’t have to stick with the lender who pre-approved you. Compare offers. Zillow research shows even a 1% difference in interest rate could cost — or save — you around $182 a month, and nearly $75,000 over 30 years. Step 4: Hire the Right Agent, Not Just Any Agent Your real estate agent is more than a tour guide, they’re your advocate, strategist, and closer. In 2024, 85% of buyers used an agent, according to Zillow’s Consumer Housing Trends Report. Why? Because a good agent can: Decode market trends and pricing strategy Spot red flags during home tours Negotiate like a shark on price, contingencies, and repairs Recommend vetted lenders, inspectors, attorneys, and more Keep you sane during paperwork hell Sellers typically pay the agent’s commission, so you get this expertise for free. Find someone with local knowledge and a strong record. Zillow makes it easy to compare agents, read reviews, and schedule tours directly. Step 5: Begin the House Hunt The search begins online. 95% of buyers used digital tools in 2024. Use filters for price, features, and location on Zillow to narrow the field. Let your agent send listings and schedule private showings. Stay flexible. You might sacrifice an extra half-bath for a better commute. You might realize you don’t need that walk-in closet. Compromise is part of the journey. Touring Tips: Don’t Just Look, Inspect When you visit a home, don’t be shy. Turn on faucets. Flip light switches. Look for cracks in the walls, aging roofs, or windows that don’t close right. Noise from the street or neighbors? That matters too. The formal inspection will cover it later, but early diligence can save you heartbreak. Step 6: Make Your Offer Count You found “the one.” Now comes the offer. Your agent will prepare a Comparative Market Analysis (CMA), a data-driven price estimate based on similar recent sales nearby. But pricing is only part of it. Key considerations: Disclosures: Review any red flags like past water damage, unpermitted work, or flood risk. Closing date: Expect 30–45 days with a mortgage, but you can negotiate for sooner or later. Contingencies: Most buyers include inspection and appraisal contingencies, and should. According to Zillow, 88% of successful buyers didn’t waive the inspection. Earnest money: Think of it as a deposit proving you’re serious. It becomes part of your down payment, unless you back out without a valid contingency. Don’t be discouraged if your offer isn’t accepted. Zillow data shows 59% of buyers submit multiple offers before winning a bid. Step 7: Inspection Day Your offer was accepted... congrats, you’re in escrow! Schedule a home inspection ASAP, typically within a week of signing. Your agent likely has trusted referrals. Attend the inspection if you can, it’s your chance to learn about your future home. If the report uncovers major issues, you can renegotiate. Maybe the seller pays to fix it, or lowers the price. Maybe you walk away. Zillow research says 66% of buyers made their final offer contingent on inspection. That’s your safety net. Step 8: Finalize Your Financing Even with pre-approval, you’re not done. Your loan isn’t official until you apply formally, pass underwriting, and get the “clear to close.” What’s involved? Update financials with your lender Respond quickly to document requests Wait for the appraisal ordered by your lender, scheduled by your agent If the appraisal value matches or exceeds your offer, smooth sailing. If it’s lower, you’ll have to renegotiate or bring extra cash to closing. A bad appraisal isn’t always the end. If you believe it’s wrong, you can contest it or ask for a second one. Step 9: Buy Homeowners Insurance Before closing, you’ll need a homeowners insurance policy in place. This protects your investment and your lender’s. If you already own property, ask your provider about bundling. If not, shop around. Many policies can be rolled into your monthly escrow payments. Your lender or agent can assist. Step 10: Close the Deal and Move In The finish line is in sight. Schedule a final walkthrough within 24 hours of closing to ensure everything looks right, especially if repairs were negotiated. On closing day, expect to sign a mountain of paperwork with your escrow agent. Bring your closing costs, usually 3-5% of the purchase price and proper ID. Once the sale is recorded, you’ll get the keys. You’re now a homeowner. Set up utilities, forward your mail, and unpack. The house hunt is officially over. Read the full article

hey! i've read your "deaf tenma" fic that you're planning to write (or already did?) when will you publish it? (if you hadn't yet) i'm so curious and concerned about it, i've also seen your ideas
tbh i don't really have an answer on that, it's really just been sitting on the back burner for awhile, mostly because I have two other fics I've been stuck in a rut trying to write
my user on ao3 is Porymon, and I'm currently working on 'Goddammit Endou', an inazuma eleven fic replacing megane with an oc, and 'It's a Whole New World We Live In' a fire emblem/pokemon crossover fic, and both fics will be going over the entirety of the games that they're set in, which is..... a lot of game to get through
inazuma eleven isn't so bad, but thinking about how one characters exclusion/inclusion affects the story is quite troublesome. its the fire emblem genealogy of the holy war, pokemon black2/white2 crossover that's giving me trouble. fe4 is a game spanning 2 generations of characters and an interconnected web of political intrigue and b2/w2 is set 2 years after their predecessors black and white, the amount of fact checking I need to do for this fic is frankly insane, and I really don't want to butcher a fic about a Deaf character because I took on more than I could handle
while I still love the fic idea, it'd probably be for the best if someone else picked it up, feel free to if you want. I'd love to see these ideas come to fruition, even if I'm not the one to make it happen
feel free to send me a message or even another ask! I just love to share my little fic ideas with other people!

Life in the Post-Adobe World
After last week's drama involving Adobe's change to their ToS that seemed to suggest that they were granting themselves the right to access content created by their users—and the resulting vague back-peddling and clarifications that made users go "yeah suuuuurrrrreeee..."—I, like many others, decided to start taking steps to limit Adobe's impact on our creative workflow. In my case, it's going to be a gradual phasing out because I paid for a year upfront back in February. The only thing I need to do is remember to cancel when that date comes up.
FYI, Affinity is having a 50%-off sale on all of their products: https://affinity.serif.com/en-us/
Photoshop: The Beginning
I started using Photoshop back in 2000, three years before Adobe adopted the CS moniker. I was using it not for photo manipulation but for building web site elements. This was at the same time I was getting heavily into web design—running a Ronin Warriors fansite turned out to be a good introduction to a lucrative career choice, though that would take me six years to decide to formally pursue.
One could say that Photoshop was a constant throughout my creative journey. Back then, Macromedia existed as a separate company—I had ditched MS FrontPage (anyone remember FrontPage?) for Macromedia Dreamweaver. Photoshop introduced a means of generating layouts from a PSD via the Slice tool—I think that was version 6? Between Photoshop and Dreamweaver, that became my go-to for creating web page layouts. So it was all the better for me when Adobe acquired Macromedia in 2005. As time went on and my programming skills grew, I eventually ditched Dreamweaver in favor of dedicated IDEs like Netbeans (now I use PhpStorm) but still stuck with Photoshop for my web design prototyping needs—yes, even after releases of tools that were better suited to prototyping, like Sketch and Figma.
For what I needed, Photoshop just worked. Design prototyping wasn't the only thing I used Photoshop for, though.
I also used it for post-production and page layout for my web-comic Silent Shadow —design purists would claim Illustrator is the better tool but my attitude is that you use the tools that feel the most comfortable to you. I simply felt more comfortable in Photoshop.
Aside from my work on Silent Shadow, I also used Photoshop for creating textures for 3d models.
And yes, I did eventually use Photoshop for its intended purpose of photo editing and manipulation.
Adobe Is A Drug
To be honest, I'd been looking for alternatives to the Adobe Creative Suite for years—especially once Adobe graduated towards a subscription model. Paying ~$600+ a year was starting to break the bank both as freelance web developer and as a W2 employee, but trying to move to something else when those shortcut keys were so ingrained was difficult. I had the same problem with Blender until the devs started adopting industry-standard shortcuts when I started using Blender regularly with 2.79.
So maybe those shortcuts weren't as ingrained as I thought they were. I tried Affinity six years ago when I working at what was arguably one of the worst places in my entire career. I didn't like it. It was just enough like Photoshop to throw me off, plus I may have developed some negative feelings towards Affinity that had more to do with that employer than with the program itself.
That being said, that particular time period five to six years ago was a period of upheaval for me—what was happening, I won't go into, but by 2020—I'd decided to start eliminating expenses, and that included Adobe. However, it was almost impossible for me to move away—especially once I needed a video editor and the free options weren't really up-to-snuff (note: I hadn't heard of Da Vinci Resolve at this point). So eventually, I got sucked back in.
Getting Rid of Adobe for Good
I'm riding the unemployment train again for the second time in five years. This happened directly after I paid for a year upfront. So that right there is incentive enough to look for free or low-cost alternatives.
Sorry Adobe, but you're just too expensive for what you are for a broke hobbyist like myself. Adobe attempting to commit seppuku similar to Unity last fall via their TOS changes was simply an added incentive to look for alternatives.
Adobe's changes to their TOS regarding AI shouldn't be a surprise, considering the scandal they created last summer regarding their AI generating art using the styles of well-known artists. I remembered saying then that if these artists were hosted on Behance (which Adobe owns), then there was a high chance that there was something in the Behance TOS that granted Adobe the right to use those artist' works in whatever manner that they see fit.
For me, getting rid of Adobe products has more to do with cost than with the TOS—though the TOS changes are enough to be worried about.
The Path Forward

My most recent piece was put together using Affinity Photo 2 and aside from being faster than Photoshop on load, I found it easy to use once I shook off those PTSD triggers from six years ago. Photo 2 also offers the same tools as Photoshop if I need to do a quick mockup of a website. Essentially, I won't be re-learning much, if anything at all.
I haven't tried Affinity Designer—yet. I have a feeling that it'll be just as snappy loading as Illustrator was 20 years ago, though. It won't have any of the bloat that Illustrator has that no one uses.
Page layout for when I bring Silent Shadow back—at the moment, I'm playing with Comic Life 3, but I may test out Affinity Publisher as well.
For textures for 3d models, I've found that Blender's texture painting tools suit my purposes just fine, with the added bonus of being able to create my own brushes from pngs as needed—which I can create those pngs in Affinity Photo. I experimented with Substance Painter years ago and didn't like it, and I sure as hell wasn't going to fork over more money to Adobe when there's free alternatives readily available.
That being said, this is a huge paradigm shift for me—I've been using Adobe products most of my life, starting with Illustrator way back in Jr. High ('91/'92) and not gonna lie, I do feel sad but Photoshop as it was 20 years ago was way superior to the bloated, buggy mess that it is now.
And now, it's time to say adios to Adobe!

Dive into the World of Nanoplastia Hair Treatment
Nanoplastia is a revolutionary hair treatment that use nanotechnology to repair and improve the general health of the hair. Nanoplastia, unlike standard therapies, achieves long-term outcomes by working at the molecular level. One significant distinction between Nanoplastia and keratin treatments is the absence of formaldehyde, which makes it a safer option. Nanoplastia employs amino acids and nanotechnology to penetrate and rebuild the hair shaft from within, resulting in healthier, smoother, and shinier hair.
Nanoplastia works by using nanoparticles to penetrate the hair shaft and provide repair and nourishment. These microscopic molecules fix gaps and uneven patches on the hair cuticle, making the strands considerably smoother and more manageable. Popular Nanoplastia treatments include Floractive Professional W2, Omega Zero Nanoplastia Black, and Floractive W One Premium.
The advantages of nanoplastia treatment are numerous. It delivers excellent smoothing and straightening results, transforming frizzy and damaged hair into sleek and manageable locks. Nanoplastia also moisturizes and softens the hair, leaving it feeling smooth, soft, and frizz-free. It also helps repair and rebuild damaged hair, making it look and feel healthier. With proper maintenance, Nanoplastia treatment can yield benefits that endure for up to three months.

Formula One: Built to Win is a 1990 racing video game for the Nintendo Entertainment System developed by Winky Soft and published by SETA Corporation.
It was one of the first racing games to feature a career mode, multiple vehicles and an opportunity for the player to increase the performance of their in-game car through car tuning, which were unique elements for a racer of the NES era and a genre only truly revisited during the fifth generation of game consoles where games such as Gran Turismo became popular.
Races start out as single-lap events but become double-lap events as the player starts racing against more experienced competition in places like Las Vegas, Nevada and Hawaii. With gameplay similar to Rad Racer and Pole Position, the driver races towards the back of the screen.
The names of the opponents are chosen partially at random; they can also vary because of the ranking level of the course and the type of vehicle used. Like in Rad Racer, the player can supercharge an automobile to go up to 255 miles per hour or 410 kilometres per hour.
Once the player enters a user name, the player has to start out driving a Mini Cooper without an international racing license. From there, the player must earn the rankings needed to get better performing vehicles and automobile parts. These cars consist of the Vector W2, the Ferrari F40 and finally a Formula-1 race car; most of the game is driven with these vehicles.
Drivers must also be prepared to negotiate their way through both civilian traffic (green) and other racers (blue), both of which resemble whatever car that the player is driving at that time; for example, the Mini Cooper-based opponents appear to be 1990 Volkswagen Beetles.
Managing a racing career
The player starts in New York and must work towards the West Coast. All of tracks that make up the Formula One portion of the game are actual Formula One tracks from around the world. Elements from the 1990 and 1991 Formula One seasons have been used for this video game.
Because this game is based on the career of a race car driver who is trying to go from "Rags to Riches," the beginning of the game provides a slow and conservative period. Designing an unbeatable car from the parts that they purchased in parts shops helps improve the handling, acceleration, braking, and maximum speed of their vehicle. It is possible to develop millionaire or even multimillionaire race car drivers by being successful at the slot machine game at the Las Vegas portion of the game which may be visited at any time. Even though the player must manually turn his or her entire bank account into casino tokens, the casino tokens are automatically turned back into "dollars" after the player leaves the casino.
The player must earn money in order to keep racing; this is done by either winning races or finishing in podium position. After winning the race, the money must be invested in faster and/or more efficient parts to improve the performance of the vehicle. Having a more efficient racing vehicle will eventually result in winning more difficult races where the winner's prize is higher than in the easier races. Eventually, winning certain races will result in acquiring an international racing license. Parts in the game vary in cost and tires can only be used a limited number of times before they have to be purchased again. Tires that have the worst handling can be used an unlimited number of times. These tires are the only automobile parts that are free and the player automatically starts out with these at the beginning of the game's "career mode."
Other modes
In addition to the career (normal) mode of the game, there is also a "free mode" of the game that allows unlimited use of all four vehicles on their respective tracks. These races are done without the distraction of other vehicles.
All races in "free mode" are single-lap only. There is still a limited amount of nitro like in the "normal mode" of the game. However, all races done under "free mode" always start with the nitro gauge filled up. New time records made in the "free mode" are saved into the game's battery along with the driver's name until they are broken by another player. Once the player reaches the Formula One level, he or she must race against drivers whose names sound similar to the actual drivers of the 1990 and 1991 Formula One seasons. For example, Satoru Nakajima is known in the game as S.Nakazma.
Flag Race Track
Japan Suzuka Circuit
France Paul Ricard
Canada. Circuit Gilles Villeneuve
Mexico Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez
United States Phoenix street circuit
Spain Jarama
United Kingdom Silverstone Circuit
