is there anyone here who also teaches. can i vent a little. i think i feel a little bit too much stupid and incompetent and i know i should grant myself some peace and love because this is Literally my first job / first time teaching large scale but like. when does the imposter syndrome stop. when do i stop feeling incompetent.. being in the faculty room and seeing everyone SO prepared, their presentations and lessons ready with their activities prepared for the week, meanwhile i’m scrambling to get my presentation for the day done .. i just feel so young and incompetent
#txt#sorry to be so negative but ohgod !!!!!! this week has been so devastatingly horrendous#mind u i was literally at the ER on wednesday cause i got terrible muscle pain that i couldnt breathe properlyykekwidhej#i think it was my body giving up on me#but god . yeah .. this is how ive been feeling lately#teaching the kids is so fun though.. that one hour of just happiness and pride i feel cause i can see them smile and learn something#but then i go to the faculty and get hit with overwhelming incompetency#like yesterday classes got suspended bc of the storm and i didnt even like think to hand out an activity online meanwhile other teachers did#and its like ): i know im literally just a fresh grad like bruh i havent even graduated yet technically#(long story short ; my uni’s acad calendar is so fucked that half of the graduating students rn have teaching jobs alr despite#us not geing graduated yet cause hello we need the job and money)#and its like !!!! not to be sound sos tupid bjt im genuinelyjust a baby . like i cant do this#anyways had to let this all out and then go back to posting lessons online for my kids LMFAO#if u listened ?? or read until the end wow thank u i love u

I <3 COMPETITIVE POKEMON!!! YAY VGC!!
stealing this image from my good friend @moonlit-ripples
#to be clear my relationship to competitive pokémon is like my relationship to real life sports#like let’s say basketball#have i played it myself? a bit. am i any good at it? no not really#not at all who am i kidding#do i have fun playing it casually? for sure#do i know a lot about it as a spectator? ya i’ve picked up all the main ideas#could i tell you what is currently happening on the scene? no#do i watch matches? i’ll never actively seek one but if it’s on in front of me yeeeeah baby!#do i love hearing everything i can bc i find it super fun? yessss#and lastly (this one does not also apply to basketball) do i understand all those memes i reblogged earlier? about 90% of them#asks#thanks anon#but fr i nerd out so hard i’m so glad i learned all this stuff#the extent of my knowledge and skill could never get me to win actual competitive matches other than getting lucky on silly ones w friends#but it helped me a LOT in-game in violet. especially in the indigo disk. couldn’t imagine doing that as a casual without just overlevelling#tbh#and even when it isn’t that hard. the indigo disk and actual comp made me realize that actual strategizing is FUN#it makes me so sad when people approach comp with such bad faith.#these guys loooove pokémon and they loooove their mons!#they are fun and they love fun (unless you’re one of the infamous ones like lavos lol)#wish ppl didnt look down on them for being nerds or act like they are lesser fans for engaging with the media differently

My purpose and singular mission in life is to make sure queer and/or neurodivergent kids know that sometimes it really is their parents who are stupid and other adults are on their side. This, unfortunately, does not make me popular with their parents. Gonnae keep doing it though.
#kid was very overwhelmed by the theatre environment and panicking and didnt want to see the show cause it looked scary#and the mum was trying to get me to tell the kid its not scary (no i dont lie to kids i told her there are lots of funny bits but a couple#of maybe scary bits too)#and I told her hey listen the bravest thing you can do is tell people you arent comfortable somewhere. youve done so well to do that#and i gave her a program so she can learn more and make an informed decision if she wants to come another time#and i asked her what her favourite things are and she said science and animals and i told her to try the museum its super fun#and her mum was all 'ugh shes a nightmare she's ~on the spectrum~'#and i went yeah me too. and told the kid this isnt for everyone and she did well to tell me and i hope she likes the museum#and like. her mum yelling at her was making everything worse. talking to her like a person with agency?#got her from full panic attack to actively smiling at me in under 5 minutes#sometimes your parents or guardians are in fact being stupid or rude! neurodivergent adults exist! other people see you and hear what you're#saying and won't be mad!#anyway. now IM very overwhelmed but i really hope that kid remembers this and i hope she has a great day#im going to get a coffee and sit under a tree for a while

I failed to submit multiple homework assignments because I spent my midnight study time reading bbts instead. And you know what? Completely worth it, have a croissant.
✨🥐✨
Genuinely saved my day when I felt terrible on multiple occasions, I appreciate you so much.
hell yeah! i’m a homework hater (as in, hater of the concept of it on principle) so i support you doing something fun instead of a few assignments.
and i’m so glad it has brightened your day ❤️
#i’ve been on my Homework Is Bad soapbox since high school#like for a while i was the anxious kid who couldn’t do anything fun until i finished every assignment#which meant a lot of days between [sport] and [other extracurriculars] and homework i didn’t do ANYTHING fun#and at some point in high school i was like okay this can’t be it. this can’t be worth whatever learning benefits i’m supposedly getting#and then someone made the mistake of pointing me to the Race to Nowhere documentary#after which i became fully insufferable#like i still did the homework. but by god i was disillusioned.#think about it though!! some teachers are instructed to give an hour of homework per night PER CLASS#more for AP sometimes? as if school is the only possible worthwhile thing kids could do with their time#and so much of it is busywork#i wasted so much of my life on busywork in retrospect. anyway#whoops sorry you activated one of my unskippable cutscenes#also sorry if you meant like college homework. which is at least eminently more skippable anyway#vinelark asks#my fic

Since it's father's day how would Eddie be as a dad?
unprompted, festive fun
Oh gosh, what a question. Don't get me wrong though, because this is a really good one but the answer can vary a LOT depending on certain factors. All in all, Ed's not going to be winning any father of the year awards. Worst (or best?) case scenario? He stays the HELL away. Edward's got enemies out there, many of them dangerous and is well aware that having children makes them even more tempting targets due to their vulnerabiliy. At best he'll just fund them on the side, out of sight and out of mind. More under the cut bc this may get long, hold up.
Now, as a father? He's not had the best role models. Ian had good intentions to start with, wanted Edward to grow up into a respectable man but he was short-tempered and easily resorted to physical punishment even for minor annoyances, something Edward never forgot nor forgave. He wouldn't be physically violent towards a child of his (we're scraping the bottom of the barrel here) but as a narcissist, Edward IS prone to forgetting or straight up ignoring that other people have thoughts and feelings too, especially little people. Best case scenario? He sees the child as an extension of himself, a brand new mind to carefully nurture. Unfortunately it's also the worst thing because Edward can be so critical it's cruel, and it wouldn't take long before he got frustrated or annoyed with a child struggling to do what he considers simple and it would be a looooong learning experience for him to relax on that front. His partner (if there is one) would really have their work cut out for them to keep him in line so that he wouldn't leave them with lasting negative memories or complexes like his own father caused in him. Cycles of abuse and all that. Now that's out of the way, positive qualities! On the plus, Edward would at least be invested in his child's education. His progeny HAS to be intelligent, inheriting his very best traits so he'd provide in that area, make sure they did their homework, that sort of thing. Again, this can turn unpleasant if his child doesn't live up to his expectations (or wasn't so lucky to be as smart as their father) but he's nothing if not stubbborn, he WILL make sure they understand eventually! Personality wise? Aloof, emotionally reserved. Ian was not the most caring father figure and often left Edward to his own devices, bordering on downright neglect in his later childhood years. Edward can provide funds, resources and other things but emotionally he's coming up short. What do you mean you're upset, you've got a full belly, toys, books, clean clothes and stuff. Go away, you're bothering him. So yeah. He's not downright terrible but he sure as fuck isn't winning any father of the year awards either. Other good traits is that he wouldn't care whether he had a son or a daughter; they'd be treated the same more or less, maybe being more protective with a girl. He saw things during his time working at the GCPD, you know.
#anonymous#❔ || musings#Bless you for sending this anon it was fun to write!#Honestly Eddie would kind of suck as a dad#ESPECIALLY in the early years like he'll treat a baby like some sort of very delicate rare animal#A very noisy and messy one#Ironically he'd be best in the toddler stage maybe?#When they're just starting to learn and absorb all that new information#He'd be so emotionally reserved though bc he never really learned anything good so to speak#He was nothing like Ian so they never really bonded or shared activities#His partner would have to pull up the slack a LOT ngl#And really come down on him when he's being shitty because he will NOT realize#His childhood SUCKED but look at him he turned out just FINE#Kid's just got to suck it up#tl;dr I think he can learn but it would be hard as fuck god#Subconsciously would stay emotionally distant bc maybe afraid of confronting that shit within himself#Better to pretend it doesn't exist ughugh

okay but why do people get so goddamn upset when you say that you dislike kids/being around kids???? i'm pretty sure no one is saying that kids should just straight up stop existing, or that kids shouldn't be allowed in any public place ever. when most people say they don't like kids it means that they're sick of hearing screaming for an hour and a half in the local walmart because some kid's parent won't buy them a ps5. they mean they're sick of hearing cocomelon on full blast while waiting in the purgatory that the checkout line. they're sick of nearly running a kid over with a shopping cart because said kid's idea of fun is laying on the floor in the middle of the aisle and their parent can't be bothered to tell them to get up. that's what people mean when they say they dislike kids.
no one (at least, no one i've ever heard of) is trying to physically accost children simply for existing in a public place. no one is trying to argue that children shouldn't exist, or be allowed in public places. i feel like some of you are forgetting that "man im 5 seconds away from killing this [x]" is a figure of speech and not actual homicidal ideation. god motherfuckin damn. get a grip
#scary crane rambles#not fandom#let's get serious#like. im sorry you desperately want to project your trauma onto random kids in the supermarket#but im pretty sure rolling on the floor and trying to climb the shelves aren't exactly Acceptable Supermarket Activities™#also does ''let kids be kids'' also extend to destructive temper tantrums??#if someone's straight up screaming at their kid in public for doing a little spin its one thing (and its also bad btw)#but if your coworker gets fed up with hearing several hours of screaming induced by tfw no ps5 i think its reasonable#also. there are literally places dedicated to kids having fun. are you guys aware of that#and none of them are the supermarket. none of them are the local walmart. hate to say it but its true#please for the love of god learn what a playground is. learn what a park is.#not trying to say you should leave your kids unattended there whenever you go shopping btw#im just saying there are in fact places for kids to have fun that arent the local walmart
