honestly i just sit and think sometimes over like, miravi isn't toxic yuri or anything, they're DEEPLY functional with each other and it's much moreso a cheetah and dog situation where they both get a lot more stable with someone to balance them out.
but the way it looks like is often a lot of arguing and them not being afraid to snipe at each other or call the other out on bullshit. and i keep feeling like everything about the current shipping Moment would suggest that this is toxic — even though this quality, in of itself, is what they like in their relationship and what helps them best. which is a form of relationship that very much works for people! and works well! there's a lot of benefit in having someone you can be upset with and show that upset with without them taking it personally, or in using it as a means to immediately point out and begin working out problems in a constructive manner, problems that would have become a lot worse if allowed to simmer, and the emotional vulnerability needed to do this in a constructive way with someone else! it's actually my preferred form of relationship, because i'm bossy and mean and contrary and i like not being forced to dull my edges and having someone who can dish it as well as they can take it.
it's a bit like arguing for fun, i think. for those who like it and find it really works for them, there's no hard feelings at the end, it's just a way to get everything on the table and debate over a solution. it feels good, giving the high of the exertion but coming back down with emotional reassurance to ensure it's really not any hard feelings. but, for the majority of people, it's so deeply concerning and distressing that they can't even imagine someone like that, that something has to be wrong because they cannot imagine ever doing it constructively, or they cannot ever imagine not taking it personally.
and it's just very odd sometimes, as someone who has a ship like this as a main ship, that people don't understand that kind of dynamic.
#all the care guide says is 'biomass'#miravi.txt#monster prom#just. shrugs!#its how they got to this point of smoothing out each others rough edges and soothing their issues#because they AREN'T afraid to point out each other's flaws#they're combative and determined and aren't going to collapse the first time someone points out their issues#so it becomes a point of convincing the other and laying out their mental processes#which means openly putting their emotions on the table#in a way that is vulnerable but isn't going to freak them out like some other forms of vulnerability would#like aaravi has a lot more issues talking about her mom with norah#than she does telling miri about it because miranda started talking about the way shes expected to behave as a princess#because then she doesnt feel like a bug shoved under a microscope#she feels like an equal jabbing back and being stubborn#theres a lot of recognition in the other here as well#and all of them combined makes them. a lot more deft at navigating what the other needs#without needing to actually literally lay it out. which would be a lot harder for them.#because they already DID communicate that in a different form#just. miranda's built for conquest. aaravi's built for combat. fighting is something they know and respect very well.#and making it into a safer almost playful form that still gives them that rush is a LOT more beneficial than making them give it up#gestures again to my other post likening the mishras to working dog breeds.#the same thing that makes them so good at their job is also the thing that drives them insane when they don't have it.

one inane hag romance hc is that I like the idea of astarion just resting his chin on the top of shri’iia’s head bc she’s a head shorter than him. like that’s free chin rest real estate. like in times where they’re just standing around or something and nothing is particularly amusing him he’ll just rest his chin on her head and maybe sigh loudly and if he’s particularly bored and not paying attention to the person who’s talking (probably gale) he’s gonna start fiddle with her cape, or the straps on her pauldron, or trace the filigrees on her gorget. and shri’iia probably don’t gaf too much she just lets him fiddle around with her armor, or maybe she tries to catch his hands so she can hold it between hers (she finds out she particularly likes hand holding) then it becomes this little game between them where she tries to catch his fingers and he’s quick to dart it away.
#in any situation these two are probably not paying attention#and they’re quick to fall into trouble lmfaooo#but ^ inspired by one of my old doodles that I just found where he’s resting his chin on her head loool#but I like the idea that he leans onto her like that. or his hand will just lay on her back if they’re standing next together#or his elbow on her shoulder etc just keeping contact for shri’iia she likes that a lot#she considers even small gestures like that a luxury considering how she literally had to beg for a sliver of affection#not affection— more like recognition before — so to receive anything else and to receive it so freely#she rlly considers it a luxury#hag romance.

I wanted to share something that happened to me after school today, because this stranger made such a difference and she probably won't see this, but she deserves the recognition for being such a kind human being. I was walking back from school alone, as I was a bit late leaving, but my knees started to hurt because my joints don't work properly and I didn't know what to do. I was panicking quite a lot, I was hyperventilating and I think i was crying too, I felt quite rough. Once I got half way into town, i was in quite a bit of pain and decided to sit down on a bench there and i felt really anxious and overstimulated. After a while, this woman walks up to me seeing that I was upset and asked what was wrong and if she could do anything to help. I'm glad I was wearing my ear defenders and sunflower lanyard at that point, because i think she recognised them when she sat down next to me. After I had roughly explained my situation, she tried to calm me down and asked me what i do to help calm myself. I said music, and she let me get my headphones from my bag. At one point, I had a nosebleed and she even asked someone nearby if they had any tissues. She introduced herself and told me that she worked nearby in a school for autistic kids like me. She asked me what I was called and when I said Sage and they/he she immediately stopped using feminine terms and started calling me Sage. Apparently, at her school there were 10 teachers and 10 students there, and she was the art teacher. She also said that she was neurodivergent too, she had dyslexia and dyspraxia i think. She told me she was going to look after a neurodivergent boy later that evening, but could accompany me to the library where I needed to go to make sure I was ok. She made conversation and listened to me and when we got to the library, she sat down with me until she was sure I was doing better before leaving. She didn't have to do anything, but she decided to stop and make sure I was ok and I am so thankful to her for that.

my main gripe with the brutalist is it opens up so many topics and in the end only bothers with the least interesting: don't you think the relationship between money and art, patron and artist, while violent and threatening, the dialectic inherent to it can generate greatness? brady corbet sure does! he's an Auteur. also doesn't it kind of remind you of rape?
for a movie that takes the audience for a bunch of dummies (a modern trend) the ending sure is so limp and gimmicky that it (not baselessly) expects the think piece writers to take a mile out of the inch given. what does it mean for a jewish holocaust survivor to build a concrete chapel where only the imposing cross is made of marble? or is that yet another paul thomas andersonism i.e. it's a tadao ando homage because there will be blood did it. philadelphia is a. colonialist and b. religious. what changed the titular brutalist's mind about israel? does he even need to be a brutalist architect specifically?
#it's so dissonant to have news reels explain what heroin is (to steal someone's letterboxd review)#and then gesture towards 20 different themes that don't go anywhere#oh and what's with the terribly done festen rip off? brady corbet director of pattern recognition
