Seems like Greip is out matched by a stronger opponent. Shuujama might have the upper hand on Greip but can she keep Greip down for the longest?

What If AI Could Predict Fraudulent Transactions Before They Occur?
Tumblr media
Imagine a future where AI platforms like Greip could anticipate fraudulent transactions before they happen. How would this transform fraud prevention strategies?
Scenario:
An AI system analyzes historical transaction data, user behavior, and external factors to predict and prevent fraudulent activities proactively.
Analysis:
Potential Benefits:
Proactive Fraud Prevention: Stop fraudulent transactions before they occur, reducing financial losses.
Enhanced Customer Trust: Provide a secure shopping experience, increasing customer loyalty.
Operational Efficiency: Automate fraud detection processes, saving time and resources.
Challenges:
Data Privacy: Ensuring the protection of sensitive customer information.
Adaptability: Keeping the AI system updated to recognize new fraud patterns.
How do you think predictive AI could impact your approach to fraud prevention? Would you welcome this advancement, or do you believe in the importance of human oversight?

i actually really fucking love that seok-ryu's always loud and in-your-face. even in moments when you think she's about to back down like the scene with chris or the one at that end of episode 6, she will not fucking stay down until she gets the outcome she wants and i love that about her.

If you can go back to Greip, will you go back? No. One more [question]. Hypothetically.

the actual story of her leaving greip, feeling confusion and pain over burnout and workplace abuse, not knowing her why and numbly enduring belittlement, then coming home to parents panicking and jumping to call her lazy/irresponsible/not determined enough when there's no one incident that can neatly summarize the years of difficulty and othering she felt, all while feeling guilt and shame over her decision - am I just throwing away years of hard work and my family's sacrifices, am I justified in my feelings, am I being ungrateful, am I weak? - like that is so so difficult to process and navigate AND THEN to suddenly come face to face with someone in a position of power over you who has manipulated, exploited, and mistreated you time and time again, like, holy shit seokryu finally standing up for herself (and dishing what that piece of shit deserved) was sooo satisfying and the beginning of a journey i can't wait to watch unfold

okay let's go bananas 🍌
what jumps out at me about bananas is how fruity it is. in many ways lmao.
first of all, i want to talk about his skill once again. because these lyrics are skilled.
so in rap music there are rhyme schemes and there are thematical schemes. a rhyme scheme is about rhyming words and how you alternate between different rhyme types. a thematical scheme is about what you're talking about and how you bake one lyrical theme into different meanings through metaphor. most rap songs will have multiple thematical schemes through the song, and holding on to one thematical scheme for several bars let alone verses takes skill.
well. bananas holds on to one thematical scheme through the whole entire song. and that theme is, basically, fruit and vegetable.  there are ten different fruits and vegetables mentioned in the song and multiple of them are not only there to help a rhyme scheme but because they have metaphorical or innuendo meanings that fit the lyrical content, the subject of the song. they further the plot, so to speak.
on top of that, i'd say at least three of them also work to multiply the fruit theme and lift it into a different level, but i'll talk about that more a bit later.
he is really skilled at using this fruit and veg scheme to "further the plot" and paint a picture. so let's look at some of the bars.
"pokella on mandariinit kainalossa" meaning "the bouncer has mandarins under his armpits". if you understand the line, it's not only hilarious but informative. if you don't, let me explain. this line refers to a finnish slang term mandariinikana, mandarin chicken. mandariinikana is someone who pretends and acts like their biceps are bigger than they actually are. mandariinikana will hold their arms a bit further away from their torso, to make it look like their muscles are so big their arms simply cannot just rest at their sides and touch their body - but in reality, there is no muscle there. in fact, what is actually between their "biceps" and their torso is just air, empty space. so much space you could fit mandarins in their armpits. hence -> "pokella on mandariinit kainalossa" is not only a clever bar in the fruit scheme, it also tells us so much about what kind of character this bouncer is. a very smart line!
"en ole greippi, en ole lime, olen makea ja onnelline" meaning "i'm not a greip fruit, i'm not a lime, i'm sweet and happy" excellent use of the fruit scheme! what does this bar tell us? greip fruits and limes are sour. he denounces being sour, and underlines that he is sweet. which, by the way! in finnish makea works the same way as cool in english. if someone is makea (or makee) that means they are cool. i think he uses makea here to mean both sweet and cool at the same time.
second verse "aamulla kurkut silmillä ja mun otsaan on kasvanut tatti" again, such a cool and informative way to use the thematical scheme. "aamulla kurkut silmillä" meaning "cucumbers on my eyelids in the morning" paints a vivid picture and gives us so much information about where we are in the story. "otsaan on kasvanut tatti" now we're once again deep in finnish territory but i'll try. tatti otsassa (bolete mushroom on the forehead) is a cleaner version of kyrpä otsassa (cock on the forehead) and, do not ask me where this comes from, but kyrpä otsassa means you're very annoyed and put out. so again, using the thematical scheme in a clever way, he has informed us of the mood in the story now.
and so we get to the eggplant. now. eggplant, peach and banana (and the way he's been using bananas in his live shows..) are what i meant before, when i said some of these fruits are opening up another level to this fruity thematical scheme.
because like.
this song is pretty gay. and i don't think that's an accident.
it's not just that the bouncer is checking him out, it's that he notices. giving the bouncer the good old look back, hm? and his DM's are full of eggplants, dick pics. is this a gay club, where everyone is "going bananas"? because hear me out.
jere would have grown up at a time where fruittari was a term used to describe certain type of men. and yes the word fruittari comes from the english word fruit. fruittari men weren't necessarily gay, they were just sort of.. male fashionistas? at a time where it was, i guess, so unusual for men to care about their looks that it needed a term lmao.
now like i said, fruittari men weren't necessarily gay, but then that word isn't really used anymore, not in that way. and i would argue that to refer to any man as any type of fruit, in today's finland, would come across as calling them gay.
so for him to build an entire fruit scheme to describe both himself and other (male) charcters in the song? yeah that's kinda fruity in the gay way lmao.
now, i'm not saying this is a coming out song. i'm saying he's clever to recognise the implications of the fruit and veg scheme and to lean into it, rather than trying to no-homo the scheme. i don't think he cares what people make of his sexuality. i mean hell, it could be a coming out song! or it could just be him being gay for 3 minutes for the thematical scheme of it all. who knows! either way it fucking slaps.
my unpopular(?) opinion is that bananas doesn't have a deep secret meaning behind it, i think it's about what it says on the tin: partying. but of course, when you look at the placement of the song on the album, you can make conclusions if partying also works as a metaphor of some sort in the album narrative. or it could very well be the sort of partying that ultimately has had to end, part of the toxic lifestyle that snuck into his life after the whirldwind of 2023.
however. this song sounds kinda old school to me, for multiple reasons. the sound itself fits this new käärijä era, but thematically and lyrically this also has the ghost of like välikuolema or even like puuta heinää or something. this sounds like the bratty yapper käärijä.
and towards the end of the song you hear these synth hits that remind me of early 2000's, idk like in da club by 50cent etc. so even more old school.
and there's one detail that kind of dates this song. at the very end he says "paita auki Copacabanas". i don't think he means the actual real copacabana in brasil, i think he means a club in helsinki that had a famous dance floor that could fit like hundreds of people. and the club was known for letting absolutely no-one skip the queue, because you could not reserve tables on the restaurant side of the establishment after nine - and in the beginning of the song he is queuing.
well, copacabana hasn't existed in years. i don't remember exactly when it closed, but a new club opened to where is used to be in 2016, so it's been at least 8-9 years.
so maybe it's a nostalgic song? or maybe it's about slipping into old habits? i don't know.
what i do know it's damn clever either way.
this post is dedicated to anon, who asked me about bananas, got me thinking about it, and so i wrote like the entire thematical scheme bit at 1:30 am

Blueshift TTRPG Season 2 Character Portraits
Season 2 of Blueshift saw the Player Characters thrust into the bodies of alternate universe versions of themselves! This universe is a High Fantasy world. Their boss, Alcyone, spent all his energy transporting them there, and the effort caused him to enter a dormant state. The PCs were on their own to solve the mystery of how to leave this world and return to their own universe!
Dicho (he/him) (PC): Demon and wandering medic with ties to the black market.
Greip, Knight of Saturn (he/him) (PC): Human cursed by a dragon to be a Blood Fiend (basically a vampire) for eating its eggs.
Vivienne De'Gallant (they/them) (PC): Squire to Knight Angela Forest, serving out a life-debt owed to her. Also bearer of a family curse that allows them to don a monstrously powerful form, but each time it is used the transformation back to normal becomes more difficult and less appealing...
King Saturn (he/him) (NPC): The Heart of Stone - a isolated and cold man who is seeking... warmth.
Aura Thorne, Knight of Saturn (he/they) (NPC): A messy but competent bitch who was introduced eating a salad. They don't really love the PCs, but eventually begrudgingly respect them.
Axis Carmichael, Knight-Hopeful (he/him) (NPC): Tag-along to Aura, learning the ways of the Knights of Saturn.
The Chain, Knight of Saturn (they/them) (NPC): A silent Knight who stays posted in the capital, close to the King. They have an unconfessed crush on Sophia Lund, Assistant to the Archmage.
Viktor De'Gallant, Knight of Saturn (he/him) (NPC): Viv's baby brother and big-shot Knight of Saturn, recently returned to the capital after dropping off criminals to The Hive.
Rapala Rinehart, Archmage of Saturn (she/her) (NPC): A woman with no scruples and few morals who only seeks new knowledge at the sake of all else. Vivisected Greip while he was alive at one point.
Viveca De'Gallant, Assistant to the Archmage (she/her) (NPC): Viv's middlest sibling who is doing pretty well for herself. Rapala is a taskmaster and keeps her and Sophia very busy, but it's better than being on the streets...
Sophia Lund, Assistant to the Archmage (she/her) (NPC): A nervous and shy woman with an unconfessed crush on The Chain.
Couch (he/him) (NPC): A human man who was shoved into Greip's original Celestial body, found in the lowest levels of The Hive. The players put him inside a Cape of Holding to break him out of jail, and gave him simple games and toys to keep him entertained.
M (they/them) (NPC): A 'criminal' who tried to 'assassinate' King Saturn in order to make a big enough splash that their companions would find them. This is the same M they've known the whole game, not an alternate universe version.
Jimothy Criquette, "King" of Palazzo (he/him) (NPC): A retired entrepreneur and father to maron, he's happy in this universe.
Maron Criquette, King of Palazzo (she/her) (NPC): Jimothy's daughter and current boss of Palazzo. Cool and competent, she becomes business partners and friends with the PCs.
Andrew Wallace, Scout (he/him) (NPC): The Fantasy-World equivalent of an FBI agent, Andrew is on the hunt for Doris and enlists the PCs help in catching her.
Agnes, The Witch of the Lake (she/her) (NPC): A hermit living in isolation who trades magic items to the PCs.
Madame Elizabeth Doris (she/her) (NPC): A master thief... who remembers the previous world?! She is seeking a series of macguffins in order to get back to her original world and body.
Maya Lancaster (she/they) (NPC): M from the Fantasy World, a pilgrim seeking knowledge. The players know that Minerva will try to kill and eat Maya, so they befriend her and keep them safe so they don't have to enter the weird M & Minerva circus.
Van Helsing (she/her) (NPC): A professor who is knowledgeable about all types of curses and ailments, the PCs seek her help with their own curses. She enjoys bowling for fun.

"If you choose a job that you love, it won’t feel like work."
This is the scene where Seok Ryu realizes that a career path can be both fulfilling and professionally rewarding. Although Seung Hyo finds himself in long hours as an architect, he is genuinely passionate about his work. In fact in the previous episode, he said that even if he could swim again, he would still choose to be an architect.
Seung Hyo's dedication to his profession serves as a stark contrast to Seok Ryu's previous experiences. While in Greip, she was overworked and because of it probably hated her job.
As the drama progresses, I think Seokryu will begin to question her previous assumptions about work as a mere means to an end and starts to consider the possibility of finding a career that aligns to her passions and interests.

Love Next Door is so good because of the way it shows the reality of taking breaks. You'd think taking a break would free you and rejuvenate you and give you that serenity that you've been craving. You'd discover and explore, carve out the space to think and decide on how you wish to move forward.
But it's actually a rollercoaster of guilt, anxiety, competition, losing self confidence, grief and longing for meaning, seeking clarity, doubting your beliefs, questioning all life decisions, feeling like shit, spending time with your mom and becoming friends with her, doing everything you used to love again and experiencing the little joys, feeling left out and lost, wondering if you've ever been right, wondering why you treated yourself like shit, wishing you could have continued the way it was so that you don't have all these unanswered questions, thankful that you prioritised yourself, wishing for something to love for, wishing you understood yourself and life, and repeat and repeat...
And not only that, Seok Ryu's experience at Greip is the quintessential immigrant worker experience.
When you leave your country to work somewhere else, you feel this sense of responsibility. Most people invest a lot of money and time and energy and they have expectations to live up to, both of themselves (especially if you're a high achiever) and their parents. So you work hard, which is so easy to exploit in general in life, even easier when you're an immigrant. Because as an immigrant, you also want to be liked and crave for a sense of belonging. So you do even more than you can handle, to be accepted, and then people like Chris target and manipulate you because they know what you need. It's easy to become a pushover when you think it'll get you an ally in your loneliest times.
It must have been cathartic when she punched him. :) I hope it continues to be good until the end.

cannot gather my thoughts rn but the ep is titled "past perfect" which i assume pertaining to past perfect tense and is fitting bc the ep revolves around seokryu's past w greip but continued helping atelier in.
BUT the ending title animation turned past perfect to present perfect continuous which pertains to seunghyo's ongoing and reoccurring feelings for seokryu.
there're more layers to this but cannot comprehend anything more. anyway, writers ate with this ep.

What about Heimdall? He was born of 9 mothers, so he wasn't woMAN born, but woMEN born.
Heimdall is... complicated. People have tried to bring up "womEn" vs "womAn" before in the context of the parents being lesbians, but that has always just felt like such a lame explanation to me. For our purposes, if the character was born of at least one woman, then they don't count for the Birth Parent Clause.
At the same time, however, being born of 9 different women is certainly... esoteric. Unfortunately, we don't have any clear answers as to the logistics of how this was meant to have worked, and it's apparently a topic of heavy debate among historians and scholars; it always just said (paraphrased) "Heimdall was the son of Odin and nine sisters."
One popular (though not necessarily accurate) theory is that the nine mothers were the Nine Daughters of Ægir and Rán, who were personifications of ocean waves. This would imply that Heimdall was 'born of the sea,' perhaps in a similar manner to Aphrodite. However, this theory starts to hold a lot less water (hehe) when you take the names of these women into account. Völuspá hin skamma, an Old Norse poem, listed out the names of Heimdall's 9 mothers as Angeyja, Atla, Eistla, Eyrgjafa, Gjálp, Greip, Imð(r), Járnsaxa, and Ulfrún, and these have reportedly appeared in a variety of other sources that slightly strengthen the validity of this list. The Nine Daughters of Ægir and Rán, however, have a completely different list of names which are listed multiple times in the Prose Edda: Blóðughadda, Bylgja, Dröfn/Bára, Dúfa, He(f/v)ring, Himinglæva, Hrönn, Kólga, and Uðr/Unn. Again, two very different lists of names.
On top of all of that is the whole idea that when these Norse myths say there are "nine" of something, that it's not necessarily exactly 9, but just "a bunch." Like how sometimes we would say "a dozen" even if what we're talking about doesn't necessarily come in 12. So we don't even know if it's specifically 9 mothers.
All of this is to say, uh. Shit's fucked, bro? I don't think this'll ever get a real answer unfortunately so white boy is just gonna stay uncategorized I guess
Heimdall was also submitted by @an-actual-literal-egg. Thank you both for your submissions!

something im really excited to see in the future love next door episodes is how seunghyo coped with seokryu leaving korea for greip... how he handled his feelings for her... how he went thru the i-dont-want-to-risk-losing-her-as-a-friend-so-i-wont-act-on-my-feelings phase ... bc we're seeing him "remember" why he liked seokryu then and falling for her AGAIN and i think thats a testament to how much he must have really liked her which would imply how difficult it mustve been for him to deal with his feelings for her !!!!
