Christmas Present (Bobette x Reader)

AN: Me: I'm gonna search and look for some inspiration about her personality!

There was none. I am feeding you all I swear. A single mom who works two jobs, who loves her kids and never stops, with gentle hands and the heart of a fighter, im a survivor.

Someone drew me fanart btw and I got so excited and happy that I'm cranking out these drafts so I have things to post even if I'm busy.

AND- I mention some other unnamed toons here- Know that I'm referencing the readers in the other stories bc its funny to me. So like if Sprout/Astro/Cosmo are with a distractor? It's probably distractor reader from my (Currently) 6 part series). If it's Vee/ Shelly/ Tisha, the toon from my CBH short. Just fun lil easter eggs :)

☁ So, Bobette. She's a lover. We know it. She's so full of joy and happiness and love it literally makes everyone around her happy.

☁ And she loves showing you her love!

☁ You're probably a holiday toon as well, sharing her love of the holiday. Think of like Santa clause and Mrs. Clause in a way. You two are just these beaming aspects of the holidays, going around and spreading joy.

☁ She knew you were last seen with Vee and another toon, laughing as you watched her partner sneak the Christmas sticks you snuck their way on the sides of Vee's head, much to the poor TV's chargin.

☁ She knows you must've been so adorable with that smile of yours and cheeks absolutely glowing! Oh it made her so giddy as she continued on her way, eagerly awaiting your presence.

☁ Bobette loves to be around you, btw, she loves being around you and loves coddling you, making sure you're as well cared for as possible.

☁ She goes out of her way to give you your favorite snacks every time she sees you, making sure you're well stocked all the time!

☁ Come to think of stocks, you probably were around helping decorate Gardenview! Silly her! You know that some of the toons weren't as excited about the holiday, especially the ones that were constantly on runs and too tired to put more energy into celebrating.

☁ That had to be it. Nodding her head, Bobette sets off once again.

☁...Anyway. Bobette loves doing those domestic things with you. Making snow angels, snowmans, drinking hot chocolate in front of the fireplace, trimming the tree, all of it are things she checks off every christmas season. :)

☁ She has an actual list. Last season you surprised her with a sleigh ride (Sorry Rudie) and it was added to the list. It's decoarated with glitter pens and all sorts of stickers. It's framed too.

☁Walking around Gardenview, Bobette was admittedly a little confuzzled. She had been looking for you since early this morning, even calling upon the help of her trusted pet Coal.

☁ Coal couldn't care less truly, but Coal does absolutely love you. Like besides Bobette only one person has gotten a tail wag from Coal and it was you.

☁ Which to Bobette was simply a sign you were meant to be together. In her humble, correct opinion.

☁ Humming a merry little tune, she waves at Glisten, who's hanging up some tinsel near the entrance with another toon, all sorts of warm happy feelings surround them as they laugh at one thing or another.

☁ It warms Bobette's heart seeing everyone so happy. Little personal HC of mine is that Bobette can kinda like sense feelings? If that makes sense? And the happier someone is, the more energy/upbeat she feels, so Christmas is an especially good time for her because the happy feelings are all so abundant.

☁ You especially are just a live little battery of sugary, perfect goodness to her! Which is why she's so eager to find her own sweetheart and take all the snuggles owed to her.

☁ Even Pebble joins their hunt, yipping as he rubs up against Coal; getting a low grunt in reply. Her grumpy girl allows the other to run a circle around her before he darts in front of them, making Bobette follow if out of curiosity alone.

☁ Pebble takes them to the kitchen where Sprout is icing a gingerbread house with Ginger right next to him, frustration clear on his face even as Astro snickers from the other side of the berry.

☁ "You took my advice, Sprout!" Bobette cheers, watching the three walls he had managed to get to stand collapse. Sprout only gapes at it as Astro guffaws before hiding his face in the fur of his cloak. Ginger refrains from outwardly laughing as she resets the walls before Sprout can truly react, using a spare bag of icing to cement them.

☁ "This is why I don't do gingerbread." Sprout bitterly remarks, throwing his hands up in defeat. "I gave up movie night for this."

☁ "There's still movie night happening, it's just later, shooting star." Astro easily soothes, even if there's still a teasing grin twitching at his lips. Sprout doesn't seem to take this for what it is, grumbling all the while about how he could be wrapped up in bed right now, but he's not.

☁ Bobette laughs at the scene before turning to Ginger, who gives her a smile. "How can I help you, Bobette?"

☁"That's normally my line." Bobette teases before continuing. "I'm looking for my own star. Have you seen them?"

☁ Ginger thinks for a second, looking she's about to say no before a thought seemingly hits her. "Oh! Yeah! They were helping Cosmo with something near the tree."

☁ That makes sense. You loved the ornaments on the tree, Bobette really should've checked there first. With a thanks and well wishes, she takes her leave, hearing Sprout curse once more as his house presumably falls once more.

☁It makes Bobette laugh as she walks towards the tree, seeing Cosmo and one of the distractors laughing, the latter wrapped in lights as he sees how many ornaments he can hang on the wires.

☁ Continuing on her way, she stops only briefly at the sight of a new present under the tree. It's bigger than usual with a bright red bow clapping on top the green walls of the present. From there, she can see the large tag that reads her own name, and despite it all, she walks closer, growing absolutely giddy at the thought of what could possibly be in it.

☁ Plus, who really gets angry over a present opened a little early?

☁ Walking over, she cheekily knocks on it, hearing the hollow echo of it. "My oh my, I wonder what could possibly be in here."

☁ There's a rustle inside before the top bursts off and your wrapping your arms around her with a happy little cheer. "It's me!"

☁ "Oh my bells!" Bobette laughs, pulling you tighter against her chest as Coal bowrfs at the sight. You laugh happily, nuzzling into the fur of her sweater before separating, giving her a positively beaming smile before pressing a kiss to her lips. "I missed you!"

☁ "Not as much as I've missed you!" She proclaims, holding your cheeks if only to nuzzle happily against you. It makes you squeal in excitement before pulling apart only to press another kiss against her lips.

☁ Coal gives another low bork, putting her front little paws on the box before you lean down, cooing at the sight. "Aw my pretty girl! I could never forget you!"

☁ Hoping out of the box, you scoop up coal into your chest, nuzzling into the deadpanned rock, who's tail gives a single, dull wag. It's a win for you though and you smother the girl in a flurry of kisses. It makes Bobette's cheeks hurt from how hard she's smiling and she can't help herself before she's scooping you both against her chest.

☁ Bobette loves the holidays, don't get her wrong, but she loves you so much more. If she died then and there, with you and Coal against her chest, she'd die a happy ornament.

Luna’s mark is located on his right paw. As it spreads it’ll go under his fur too, it might be visible from beneath when it’s stronger, but for now it’s only visible on his paw pad.

Luca is a Swedish Elkhound mix, likely with German Shepherd and other wolf-like European breeds.

There’s at least two asks about what breed everyone is, so we’ll dive deeper into that whenever the time comes.

• Souls can act older (aka "aging") but they don't exactly age and can easily revert to their "original" ages. They're not technically adults nor children (since... well they're toys now. Toys aren't exactly adults or kids yk?)

(Doey during the explosion of Safe Haven being a very good example of this idea, as they literally revert that aging part and act as their "actual" ages under high stress or other causes... given that mostly Kevin and Jack are controlling the body at that point, but still you get the point)

• Huggy's soul has not been confirmed (i belive?), but i do think his soul is a child's

• Kissy on the other hand (also don't think her soul is confirmed?) But I think she at least has a pre-teen soul in her and has "aged" to be "older"

• Poppy would've aged actually (possibly even have cracks)... if she wasn't put in the glass box. Because she was imobile, only aged a bit but not by a lot (I personally believe her soul is ~12 from how she acts at least in chaper 2... before Mommy LongLegs snatched her 💀)

• both Daddy and Mommy LongLegs have "older" children souls (pre-teens/early teenager age), so old enough to know how to generally take care if younger kids but still be a kid themself, but their souls "aged" to be "adults" in a sense

• Baby LongLegs was... actually a baby/toddler soul (Playtime didn't do baby souls often since they wanted their bigger bodies to have actual interactions with kids, but... yeah, in some cases, they'd do it)

• Berri has a soul of a pre-teen/early teen in her (yet she hasn't exactly aged like the rest bc she literally has lived her toy life peacefully since she was given to Silver when they were younger... pre- Hour of Joy. She aged a little, but not nearly as much as say Kissy who practically acts like an adult most times)

• Kiwi has a soul of a ~10 year old and definitely aged a bit... at least they were old enough to learn how to protect themself, run away before more experiments happened, and try to help others...

• Blossom has a soul of a ex- worker who knew too much to just simply be "fired", shes... more tired and less cheerful than she used to be... but she'll try to be more cheerful to at least attempt to cheer others up. (Aka, Blossom is actually an adult! Surprise surprise)

• Dogday has an actual worker's soul in him (most likely did something to get him "fired"... same reasoning as Blossom's soul on why hes a dog now. I personally hc his soul is this Rich guy bc... they sound way too similar yk?)

• Adding onto Dogday, he was literally the first bigger body of the Smiling Critters to be made and introduced in Playcare (but over what has happened to him... he's become slightly "older", but it more seems like he mostly has just... lost hope in everything.)

(Blossom was made after Dogday and every other smiling critter, btw... She wasn't supposed to survive, but she did and got loose.)

• The other Bigger Body Smiling Critters are children, Bubba beong the second oldest (pre-teen)

• The Nightmare Critters DO have bigger bodies, but most, if not all, are deceased already due to starvation or other means... or were just never alive at all (aka a soul experiment was never actually put into the body since the Hour of Joy happened)

• Catnap if course has Theo, and he is confirmed to be ~8 i believe, but he's also the best example of the "aging" idea since he's... brutal to the Playcare and whoever is in it... even to older souls (Dogday)

• Doey, of course, has 3 souls in him... so 3 different ages: Jack being ~8, Kevin being in early pre-teens, Mathew being in early (possibly nearing mid) teens

• Harley was probably in his 30s or 40s to my guess, and tbh he's probably "aged" the least bc.... well, unlike literally all the examples here, he was already an adult, and nothing really happened to cause him to "age" anymore (... beyond forcefully switching bodies into a computer....nothing bad has really happened after that over a long period of time.) (SCP-079 wannabe/j)

• Silver actually does look alike to Harley (Silver's dad's genes took over on that one), because of this... a few small toys on Safe Haven (who remembers what Harley looked like anyways, which would only be a small percentage, but still), is... uneasy around Silver due to how similar they look despite being two very different people.

• Going along with above... Silver is actually unaware of how similar they really look and is confused at the small toys uneasiness around them despite, repeatedly, showing they're not a threat.

Just regarding your Anastasia post....bad takes...the Cold War and communism was a lived experience for us, and our ancestors (Hungarian here). Jobs were easy to come by but not good ones, the actual murders of the Romanovs were widely celebrated in political circles despite a few having doubts so makes sense that Gleb would hear about it and also the shame. Also, 1920s/30s Soviet Aesthetic inspired some Nazi imagery so that also makes sense..people often forget the aesthetic shift within the USSR after the late 30s'/WW2

'A revolution is a simple thing' and has nothing to do with love. Middle class Anglo-Americanised romanticism has ruined true revolutions (and anyone who calls the Russian Revolution and its results good needs to get their brain inspected)

No yeah, first off, that’s totally granted and fair and I’m sorry if anything I said in my post came off as insensitive, like I said, I’m not Eastern European nor do I have any relatives who are or were, but I think you missed the point of my original post.

Just because the jobs weren’t good ones doesn’t mean they weren’t easy to come by, and it’s just a weird writing thing that should’ve gone through another draft. I guess bc my post was really unstructured it might’ve seemed like I was conflating the historical inaccuracies I was bringing up with moral concerns, ie saying “jobs were easy to come by” it might’ve been misconstrued as me saying “the jobs they had were good enough” or something along those lines, but that wasn’t my intention at all when I was writing it.

When I mentioned the thing about Gleb hearing the Romanovs execution, I didn’t mean him hearing ABOUT it. I mean him literally saying “I heard the gunshots”, which felt like a really weird and unexplained writing error to me.

With the Nazi imagery, I mean maybe I could be wrong on that, but I kinda felt like for 1927 it felt shoehorned in for the sake of portraying the Bolsheviks as evil without really taking the actual historical context into account. But maybe it was an accurate enough representation and I’m misinformed or stupid.

And for the last point, I mean I both agree and strongly disagree, and I disagree that revolution is a simple thing or that it has nothing to do with love. I agree that the Soviet Union and its results, again, from my kinda limited knowledge, was definitely undeniably bad — I don’t think anyone here is defending propaganda, concentration camps, totalitarian systems and war on religious freedom, I’m a Christian myself, and I mentioned I felt that way in my original post. But I mean no, I think a very large amount of revolutions are usually for the sake of the people and the country, or at the very least, even if there’s a secret intention to abuse the new system, people generally tend to lie that it’s for the good of the people and the country. I do believe that the foundation of most revolutions is love, for their homeland, and for its future generations. I mean again, I’m Irish, and whatever you want to say about the Easter Rising (which was prior to the Bolsheviks’ October Revolution btw), you can’t deny that the Proclamation was written with a genuine love for the country and the people in it, “declares its resolve to pursue the happiness and prosperity of the whole nation and all its parts, cherishing all children of the nation equally.” The turn of the century rise of cultural nationalism, which was a precedent to the Rising, was definitely fuelled by love for our homeland and its culture. Even Victor Hugo, writing in the early-mid 1800s spoke about revolution with an equally romantic flair — this is nothing new, nor is it confined to misinformed English or Americans. The tragedy is when this spark of legitimate love and passion falls to corruption and depravity and violence — whenever that fall starts is up to the perspective of the individual, I guess. When innocents are hurt, when new government corrupts, or even when the fighting itself starts? I mean, again, I could totally be approaching this from a really prejudiced cultural perspective, but I don’t really think so. I think revolution is a tragedy, and definitely, definitely isn’t simple — from the complexity surrounding its morality and motivation, to the actual practicality of the aftermath. To be honest, I think a much better change to the line could’ve been “isn’t love what revolution’s for?” You can totally have Gleb question his beliefs in a very meaningful way, without missing the point.

My overall point I guess was, that 1) the story itself had a lot of random objective historical inaccuracies, and 2) the story going “the Soviet Union was completely cartoonishly evil in every single conceivable way and the Romanovs were such perfect rulers and nothing bad ever happened” is just wrong and difficult to get into even as a premise. I think a show that deconstructed the tragedy of both the old tsarist regime and new communist government both being corrupt and bad options, from the perspective of someone who had the background of an aristocrat and the lived experience of any other working class orphan girl, as she struggles with these conflicting things inside her, as well as surrounding her, could have made for a much better one.

But again, I hope that nothing I said in my original post came off as insensitive and I probably should have structured it better given the fact it was surrounding a relatively heavy topic.
