Todays the day. I need to get a job, even if that jobs not in the gaming industry. So I’m heading to the library to print up a resume and apply at a little local chain of mattress stores.
The guy instantly liked me when I went in to do a secret shop for a competing store and offered to hire me on the spot so I figure if I can chat with him he’ll still like me enough to consider me.

Chapter Fifteen
In which Ashenivir attempts to deal with his newly realised feelings - by ignoring them
Tumblr media
[ID - a purple decorative divider]
“It was nothing you did,” Ashenivir said.
“But the way I approached you, I must have seemed so aggressive! I never wanted to pressure you.” Xalin looked as anxious as he felt as the two of them walked through the overgrown gardens of the Dancing Haven. Sunlight filtered through the trees, painting the lush greenery with dappled patterns.
“No, you were as welcoming as Eilistraee could want.” Ashenivir tapped nervous fingers on his thigh. “It was the ceremony.”
“The changedance?” Xalin frowned, then her voice sharpened. “You’re not one of those who think it unnatural, are you? Because—”
“Nothing like that,” he assured her. “It reminded me of some upset around my own, that’s all. It wasn’t your fault.”
“Oh. I’m sorry.”
“Please don’t worry about it,” Ashenivir said. “I just wanted to tell you I am grateful to you for inviting me. It’s been a long time since I’ve felt comfortable in a shrine, but I think…I think I could be comfortable here.”
He wasn’t certain if it was true, even as he said it. He hoped it was—the Haven truly was a beautiful place.
Somewhere back inside the villa, someone started singing. Another voice caught on the song, then another and another until one of them substituted a rude word and the whole thing collapsed into laughter. Xalin took his arm.
“I can’t tell you how happy I am to hear that. There are no ceremonies today—I can tell you when there are, if it would help?”
“It would, thank you.”
The sunlit quiet of rustling leaves, birdsong, and the faint hum of the city surrounded them, and some of the tension finally left his shoulders. It had been hard to make himself come back, but talking to Xalin made him happy he had. He glanced at her, small and smiling—she still reminded him of Nilaena. Or rather, Nilaena as she might be, without their mother’s hand crushing the light out of her. When he got home, he’d…he would…
He sighed under his breath. He had no idea what he’d do. For one thing, he didn’t want to go home. He wanted to stay here, with Rizeth—at least until he could work out a way to tell him how he felt. The moment they were back in Mythen Thaelas, he’d lose all chance to do that; probably he’d never see Rizeth again, knowing his mother. Hells, even if he came back married she’d find a way to take it from him.

🥃Kaname how old were you when you started bing trained to be a shinobi? what was it like? were you happy as a child?
Send me a  🥃 + a question for my muse to answer. If they refuse to answer, they have to take a shot. Accepting for Kaname, Danma, Kichiro and Ema
"I've been training to become a shinobi for as long as I can remember...until I was forced off that path."
Tumblr media
"It hurt. I've been bruised, bleeding and have had bones broken. I remember how much it hurt to keep training, even when my hands were blistered and bleeding. I cried. Was belittled for crying. Cried more. Collected myself, pushed through it and kept going. Over, and over. Until the pain didn't make me cry anymore, you got used to managing it.
Mostly. But I especially remember how frustrated my instructors were, back when they were still trying to drill the fundamentals of ninjutsu into me. That was...actually worse than the broken bones and blisters if I'm to be honest. It wasn't something I could grit my teeth and push through and feel pleased when I saw results, or that could be soothed by ointments. Several people tried, thinking they'd be more successful than the last, but sooner or lather they too were seething over me. I could tell they thought I was stupid for not understanding them and never making progress...or that I was willfully being difficult and testing their patience. That hurt more. It was just...so out of my control. And still is. But back then I still had my parents, my uncle, and other people who believed in me and supported my strengths. Knowing that they thought I could still do great things helped me keep my spirits up, and eventually give up on ninjutsu and focus on the things I did well. I knew what I was doing. I knew what my path was, and I wasn't going to make any worthwhile progress on it unless I let go of that part of my training.
There were good things. Very good things. I had my brother, my friends, and the forest. We had a lot of fun in that forest, and all of my fondest memories are from that time, even when we were hurting from that day's training we'd have energy for the wild games and antics we'd get up to. I was happy. But then father moved us away from the forest. And I was no longer happy."

Forge Beetles
I’ve wanted to make something like this for ages but never had motivation or something to make it for. Until now! I decided to elaborate and explore more about my OC’s species, more specifically his tribe. Hrelgere is a Forge Beetle. They’re a species I made up that are based on the predaceous diving beetle! These bugs hail from the Wild Land and are easily the most dangerous sapient species there. They’re essentially orcs in bug form.

Very happy with these monstrous freaks of nature. Would like to make more about them in the future! More specifically my dedicated OC.

Image description from the notes by @summery-captain:
"A post by James L. Cook, reading: "I was watching an interview with Noam Chompsky and he was asked about AI software, specifically Chat GPT and its impact on education. He replied that Chat GPT isn't about learning, it's about avoiding learning.
And then the light went on.
Recently I was in discussion with a peer group about an article written by James Marriot for the Times. He's basically an art school drop out that never spent any real time developing his skill to become an artist. And now he's bitter that he's not successful and that artists with real skill are 'gatekeepers' to his success.
To be honest it was a very entitled rant that demonized people who have worked very hard to hone their craft as elitists and prestige squatters. In his article he welcomes AI generators because he thinks it levels the playing field between his mediocre efforts and those snobby, gatekeeping artists.
And that's where the connection hit... (channels Chompsky) AI image generating isn't about making art. It is about AVOIDING making art. Let the computer do it. I'm too lazy to log the long emotionally wearing hours. I'm too impatient to listen to masters. I'm too self-absorbed to spend my time laboring over a work that requires me to use sophisticated critical thinking. Let the machine do it.
AI imagine generation isn't about making art. It's about AVOIDING MAKING art." End of imagine description

Most readers can’t distinguish classic works by poets such as William Shakespeare and Emily Dickinson from imitations generated by artificial intelligence. And when asked which they prefer, they often chose the AI poetry.
