“Sarah, if you don’t stop fucking with that it’s never going to stay,” you said, glaring at her in the mirror as you drew on eyeliner.
“It’s driving me insane,” she groaned, leaning so close to the hotel bathroom mirror that she was fogging it with her breath, adjusting the false eyelashes for what had to be the millionth time.
“Yeah, because you keep fucking with them,” you said. “You have to give yourself time to adjust to them. Or just take them off because I’m not spending half the night fixing them for you, drawing the line in the sand now.”
“You are absolutely no fun,” she said but she smiled all the same. “It’s New Year’s Eve, I want to look extra good. Plus Nick thinks the long lashes are hot and I am ready for hotel room sex.”
“I didn’t hear that,” Maria called from the bedroom where she was putting on her dress.
“Hotel room sex, hotel room sex, hotel room sex!” Sarah called back.
You laughed, picking up your mascara.
“I don’t think it works like Beetlejuice where you say it enough times it just shows up.”
Sarah laughed back.
“Fuck I hope not,” she said. “Really don’t want to manifest hotel room sex in front of my aunt and my mom.”
She said the last word with a drawn out teasing edge and you had to pull the mascara wand away from your face so you didn’t end up with makeup in your eye from laughing so hard.
“Swear to God if you don’t stop calling me that I will marry your dad just to spite you,” you said once you calmed down again.
“You’re basically already married anyway,” Sarah said. “For the record, I would be fine with it.”
You paused for a second, putting more mascara on the wand and looking at her in the mirror.
“Yeah?” You asked.
“Yeah,” she smiled at you in her reflection. “But don’t expect Mother’s Day gifts from me if it ever happens.”
You snorted, returning to your makeup.
“Better get a bouquet, box of chocolates, the whole nine for holding your hair when you get drunk.”
You couldn’t believe it was already New Year’s Eve again. The last year had gone by so fast it didn’t seem like it could have contained quite as much as it did. But you’d spent almost the entire time so blissfully happy that it made sense that the time felt so damn short.
Things with Joel had been going so well before Sarah found out that it was hard to believe it could really get better, but it did. Not feeling like you were hiding from the most important person in both your lives was like losing a weight you didn’t even know you were carrying. Neither of you were dancing around talking about how you were spending your time now, not being careful about what pictures you sent her and not having to just pretend like a huge part of your life didn’t exist when talking with her.
When she went back to Seattle after Thanksgiving, the three of you started having weekly FaceTime calls, you and Joel sometimes on your couch or at his kitchen table or even in a hotel room in New Orleans once when you decided to get away for your first trip together as a couple.
That Christmas had been the best you’d ever had. Not that there was much competition but Joel and Sarah both had completely brought you into all their holiday traditions. The driving around to look at Christmas lights with a thermos of hot cocoa, the annual trip to Mi Tierra in San Antonio so you could properly appreciate the Christmas lights that apparently were up year round. When Sarah came back to town a few days before Christmas, she dragged you and Joel to the mall and made the three of you take a picture with Santa. You got some funny looks in line - three full blown adults with nary a kid in sight - but Sarah whispered something to woman getting ready to take the picture and she smiled and nodded, helping the three of you get arranged for the photo. You sat lightly on one of Santa’s knees, Sarah on the other, Joel leaning against the side of the large chair. Joel insisted on getting the actual printed photo and, when you picked it up, they also handed you a candy cane and a small Santa figurine. You frowned at it for a second.
“First Santa visits should be commemorated,” the woman behind the counter smiled. “Merry Christmas!”
You looked at Sarah for a second, worried you might cry and she smiled.
“You have a Christmas decoration now,” she said. “But if you really don’t want it at your place, we can add it to the Christmas village at Dad’s!”
You just hugged her and she laughed, hugging you back.
That Christmas, the figurine and the picture sat on the book shelf in your living room, right where you could see them from your couch. The perfect image of the kind of life you’d always wanted to have, one that was filled with people who loved you.
This year, the figurine and picture were at Joel’s because you were, too.
Your lease was up in the fall and, by that point, the two of you were having a hard time remembering the last time you’d slept apart. You were wondering how to broach the subject with Joel - did you just ask if you could move into his house? Was not quite a year of knowing each other too soon? Did you just find a new apartment and never mention it? - when he brought it up one night over dinner.
“Your lease is comin’ up soon, right?” He asked and you froze for a second, a bite of enchilada on your fork half way to your mouth.
“Yeah,” you said when you remembered how to move and respond again. “Six weeks I think? They want me to decide whether or not I’m staying within the next two…”
“Have you thought about if you might want to move in with me?” He asked, his jaw tense but his eyes soft. “Only if… you know… you thought you were ready for that. Just figure I’m at yours or you’re at mine most nights anyway and…”
“Joel,” you smiled, setting your fork down and leaning on the table with your arms crossed in front of you. “Are you asking me to move in with you?”
“Only if you wanted,” he said quickly. “Not tryin’ to… I dunno… put pressure on you or something. Never tried to do this before so…”
You pressed your lips together, trying not to laugh. More at yourself than at Joel. Because of course he was thinking what you were thinking. Of course you were in the same place on this. Of course you were both nervous about bringing it up to each other.
“I’d love to move in with you,” you said once you were sure you had yourself together. “As long as you’re offering because that’s what you really want and not because you think you should.”
“Oh I want it,” he was smiling now and leaning toward you across the table. “Was considering just taking stuff from your place and moving it to mine, get you in the door before you even knew it was happening.”
“That what happened to my sexy underwear?” You teased.
“Nah,” he waved you off. “I stole those to jerk off with when you’re not there because you don’t live with me yet. Can have ‘em back when we unpack the moving truck.”
You moved in a few weeks later. Joel cleared out most of his closet, his jeans and button downs taking up only a small corner of it to begin with, and built you shelving for your purses and shoes. He made space for your things throughout his home, for your favorite pots and pans in the kitchen, for your decorations in the living room. Setting aside the bits and pieces of his life to make sure it could hold yours, too. If he’d asked you to marry him in that moment, you’d have said yes in a heartbeat.
“Oh shit,” you sighed, rifling through your makeup bag. “I think I left my fucking lipstick in my room…”
You went to get your room key from your clutch but Sarah plopped a tube of lipstick in front of you first.
“Use mine,” she said. “I’m almost ready and I don’t want to waste time with you up down three floors and all the way over to your room before we go to the party. I want cocktails, I want music and I want to flirt with my hot boyfriend while I wear a slutty dress.”
“Maria is still getting dressed, I’ve got five minutes…”
“No you don’t!” She called from the bedroom before coming to the bathroom door and turning around. “Zip me?”
You laughed and obeyed, Maria adjusting the dress a bit before turning back around.
“Hey sexy mama!” You whooped at her. “That looks like it was made for you.”
“Right?” She flung her long braids over her shoulder before admiring herself in the full length mirror on the bathroom door. “My pregnancy boobs have shown up but the bump is still in hiding. It’s the perfect dress moment, had to take advantage of it.”
“Hear that little one?” Sarah said, looking toward Maria’s lower stomach. “You’re making your mom look hot!”
“Hotter,” you corrected. “They’re making their mom look hotter.”
You settled for Sarah’s lipstick and the three of you headed for the elevator to go meet up with the guys.
Your first New Year’s Eve with Joel had been far more low key. Sarah was in town and Joel invited Tommy and Maria over to watch the ball drop. You’d ordered pizza and gotten drunk and played charades with your boyfriend’s family and, at midnight, kissed Joel so deeply that you could taste the champagne on his tongue.
This year, you had plenty to celebrate. It was Maria and Tommy’s last one before they became parents - you highly doubted they’d be up until midnight next year. Sarah had gotten promoted and you’d gotten her a job at the Austin branch in August. She had moved back to town just a few months before you moved in with Joel and the three of you had found a comfortable - if unusual - dynamic as a family. And it felt like you had finally found everything you’d ever truly wanted.
Instead of staying home this New Year’s Eve, you all decided to go to a party at one of the nice hotels in Houston. You’d all gotten hotel rooms so no one had to drive and the boys had all gone on ahead to the rooftop bar to hold a table while the three of you got ready to go.
“Crap, one sec,” Sarah said, frowning at her phone as the three of you went for the elevator. “Left something in the room, wait for me, OK? I don’t want to try to find them on my own!”
You and Maria watched her run back to her room - where the three of you had been getting ready - and you frowned as she tottered on her high heels.
“Is she acting weird?” You asked as Maria leaned against the wall.
“Sarah?” Maria laughed. “She’s always weird.”
She came back a few minutes later, tugging her dress down as she went and a little breathless when she got there.
“OK,” she smiled and took a deep breath. “Now we’re good!”
You were almost giddy as you rode the elevator up to the party, feeling the thud of music through the elevator doors before they opened.
It was hard to say why you were just so excited. It wasn’t like you’d never been to a party before - you and Sarah had rung in the New Year at a party a lot like this one that your office had handled the advertising for in Seattle one year - but it felt like something new. Like you were stepping into the first year of your life where everything had finally fallen into place.
“Hey!” Tommy yelled, standing and waving his arm over his head as he saw the three of you leave the elevator. You could barely hear him over the thud of the bass. “Over here!”
“How many beers do you think he’s had?” Maria asked conspiratorially and you laughed.
“Probably the same number mine has,” you replied, smiling at Joel as he craned his neck to get a better look at you.
“Holy hell woman,” he said, getting out of the round booth as you got to the table. He pressed a kiss to your cheek and dropped his voice low. “Not sure I’m gonna take that dress off you later, might need to leave it on.”
You smiled as he gave you a squeeze and you sat down, Joel sliding in beside you, one hand of his going below the table to the inside of your thigh.
One thing that hadn’t changed in the last year was just how insatiable the two of you were for each other. You kept waiting for it to calm down a bit, to stop looking at him and immediately start thinking of how to get him alone and naked as quickly as possible. But Joel was still the single sexiest man you’d ever seen and was still far and away the best in bed. You couldn’t help but want to fuck him all day every day. You were just thankful he seemed to feel the same way about you.
One of your favorite things about living with Joel was your after work routine. When you managed to make it so you left the office around the same time Joel left his job site, you’d join him in the shower, your hair in a knot on top of your head to keep from getting too soaked, Joel still a little sweaty and dirty from a hard day’s work. Sometimes, you just enjoyed each other. You loved the quiet intimacy of it, of being in such a private space together in just your skin, helping him wash the day from his body before he pulled you against him under the water. Other times, Joel pressed you against the cool tile and fucked into you, hard and fast and eager, making your back arch as your leg wrapped around him, the heat of his mouth and the steam filling you when you kissed him.
The new routines had just given you more reasons and opportunities to fuck, it seemed, instead of sex getting lost in the monotony of daily life. Sometimes it was in the middle of late night TV when you were both getting tired on the couch. Sometimes it was when you were putting away laundry. Sometimes it was when you were making dinner.
It was just that, sometimes, it required… additional boundaries.
Sarah had a key to Joel’s place, of course, but she quickly learned that she needed to announce herself before just coming in the door when she wasn’t expected, her walking in the house without warning when he was deep inside of you while you were draped over the kitchen counter was a little too close for comfort for all three of you.
“I have literally never wanted to know less about your sex life,” she shuddered a few hours later when you were sitting in Joel’s back yard, fully clothed with a beer in your hand.
You laughed.
“Never wanted you to know less about it so that works just fine for me.”
You, Joel and Sarah all had dinner together at least once a week, another routine you’d come to love, and you got Sarah all to yourself most days over lunch, happy for the chance to laugh with your best friend.
You weren’t sure life could get much better.
“Oh sweet!” Sarah said as the waitress came by the table, tray of drinks in hand, passing a cosmopolitan to Sarah. “Who knew this was just what I wanted?”
“Happy to take credit for that,” Nick smiled, kissing her cheek and you smiled at him. He was a relatively new addition to Sarah’s life but he seemed promising. You’d never seen her quite so giddy over a guy before and you were trying not to mention it so you wouldn’t jinx it.
When she finally owned up to being hung up on the man, though, you were going to start teasing her as relentlessly as she’d been teasing you. You were getting double wedding jokes lined up and ready, waiting for the perfect moment to hit her with it.
But it was a holiday. You’d take it easy on her for a little while longer. Assuming she stopped calling you Mom.
Joel had been paying attention too, it seemed, and the server handed you a mojito. Appropriate, since you’d just been lamenting the fact that you didn’t have fresh mint at home just two nights before.
“How often are you really gonna muddle mint for a drink?” Joel asked, barely contained smile on his face.
“At least once in a while!” You laughed. “Come on, we could do a whole herb garden in the yard…”
“You are not gonna keep a garden alive.”
“Yes I will!” You protested. He raised his eyebrows at you, incredulous. “If I have the motivation of cocktails I will.”
“Fine,” he sighed but still smiled, kissing your forehead. “In spring I’ll build you a garden and you can kill as many herbs as you want, Beautiful.”
“Is this supposed to bribe me into you not making me a garden?” You teased, taking a sip of the drink.
“Baby, I will make you whatever makes you smile,” he kissed your exposed shoulder. “But if I’m saving the lives of some poor, innocent plants by ordering you a cocktail…”
You laughed and kissed him, the scratch of his facial hair on your skin comforting and familiar.
The party really picked up not long after you got there and you, Sarah and Maria went to dance while the guys hung back to talk for a bit.
“You don’t think they’re being too hard on him do you?” Sarah asked, watching the table.
“Oh I’m sure they’re being super nice,” you said. “Joel and Tommy have never been protective of you, not once.”
“Oh God,” she groaned but she smiled.
“Wouldn’t worry too much,” you laughed. “It looks like he’s weathering it well.”
“Hold on,” Maria smiled and shook her head. “We can get him some help…”
She started waving to Tommy, who clapped Nick on the shoulder and got out of the booth to join his wife on the dance floor. You looked at Joel, eyebrows raised, until he met your gaze and you saw him sigh and smile before heading your way.
You put your arms around his neck and kissed him, pressing tightly to him and feeling every line of him through your clothes. His hands went to your waist, pulling you closer.
“You tryin’ to distract me?” He asked when you pulled away.
“Trying to get you to play nice,” you teased.
“Always play nice,” he said as you turned around in his hold, your ass going back against his hardening length. He lowered his lips to your ear, his breath hot on your skin. “Except when you ask me not to.”
You resisted the urge to drag him back to your hotel room right that second. Instead, you pressed yourself harder against him, moving your body in time to the pulsing, thrumming rhythm. His hands slid to your hips and you couldn’t help but think of how they felt on your bare skin.
But you managed to keep it together for a few songs, dancing until you were breathless and you really couldn’t take it anymore. You draped yourself around Joel again, pressing your lips to his ear.
“Order me a water and another mojito,” you said, your hand sliding into his pocket, brushing his half hard cock through his jeans, as you grabbed your phone. “And check your texts.”
You didn’t give him a chance to respond, just meeting his wide eyes for a moment before slipping into the crowd. You went around to the pool area of the rooftop, far quieter than the bar and the dance floor, the lounge chairs all stacked up next to a storage space that looked like it would provide the perfect cover from the dance floor. You took a selfie with just a glimpse of the thudding party in the background and texted it to him.
“Come find me.”
It didn’t take him long, coming around the corner while glancing back over his shoulder, looking nervous. You grabbed a fistful of his shirt and pulled him into you, your back against the storage room.
“You are up to no good,” he said, pressing you back against the wall, his mouth covering yours, his body warm against the cool night air. “Tryin’ to get us kicked out of the damn hotel?”
His hand went to your breast, anyway.
“We can keep our clothes on,” you panted against him. “Be very well behaved. Like that time in the bathroom.”
“Fuck, Beautiful,” he groaned, putting his thigh between your legs, your skirt covering part of his jeans. He rocked his hips against you, his hands going to your waist, the outline of his hard cock against your stomach. “Wanna make me come in my pants like a fucking teenager?”
“Don’t think we’re making it to midnight any other way,” you were needy, aching as you ground your pussy down on the straining muscle of his leg.
“Still gonna let me fuck you later?” He kissed down your neck, rutting harder against you, your hands on his shoulders, grip tightening.
“You think I’m starting a new year without you inside me as soon as possible you’re insane.”
He laughed a little and nipped at your collarbone before pulling you tighter against his leg, making you moan. You started working yourself harder and faster against him, pulling him tighter to you, your wetness soaking your panties.
“You’re close, aren’t you, Baby?” He asked, voice dark. Your motions stuttered but you nodded frantically against him. “Gonna come all over my fucking leg aren’t you? Come from just riding my fucking thigh?”
You were close enough that you’d lost the ability to speak. You just nodded again and he kissed you, hard and messy and deep and you pressed yourself firmly against his leg as you fell apart, the tight coil inside yourself snapping as your clit throbbed against him.
“Fuck, fuck, fuck!” He gasped as he pressed his cock hard against you and you felt him throbbing there, spilling into his jeans before slumping against you. His nose brushed yours for a moment and you smiled, kissing him lightly.
“You’re going to kill me,” he laughed a little breathlessly. “More than a year into this and you still want me to fuck you so bad you’re dragging me away from a party?”
“That’s nothing,” you teased. “Wait until we’re really old and we’re finding ways to sneak around the nursing home.”
He laughed and kissed you again.
“Love you so fuckin’ much.”
It was easier to focus on the party after that. Tommy gave Joel a look when you made it back to the table and Joel told him to mind his own business and you laughed and drank your mojito.
By the time midnight rolled around, you’d been pleasantly tipsy for more than an hour, draping yourself over Joel at every opportunity when you weren’t dancing with Sarah and Maria. As the countdown started, the six of you crowded onto the dance floor with everyone else, champagne in hand, Joel’s arm around you as he held you to his side.
“Three, two, one!”
Joel turned you to him and kissed you before you’d even had a chance to yell happy New Year and you sank into him, almost forgetting about the drink in your hand until some of it dribbled down your wrist, making you laugh against his lips.
“Couldn’t let a second of the year go by before I kissed you for the first time,” he said, his lips still close to yours. The knot of heat and wanting that had eased after your antics earlier was back with full force.
“Good,” you said quietly, drinking in the hungry look in his eyes.
“It’s supposed to be a toast, you insatiable weirdos,” Sarah laughed and you laughed back, separating from Joel far enough to raise your glasses and toast with your new found family.
It wasn’t long before all of you made your way to the elevators, piling into one with a handful of strangers, you happy for the excuse to stay pressed tightly against Joel.
“Good luck!” Tommy said, a teasing edge to his voice when the doors dinged open on your floor.
You frowned at him, confused, as the doors closed and you laughed a little as Joel led you back to the room.
“Why do you need luck? Is Tommy under the impression that you have to work to get sex out of me?” You teased. “Because it’s sweet that you’d protect my honor that way but we both know that’s a damn lie.”
“Tommy’s just a dumbass,” Joel replied. “Ignore him, that’s what I do.”
You laughed, the tail end of your buzz waning.
“Thinking we should take full advantage of that jacuzzi tub,” you said as Joel unlocked the hotel room door. “And use it to research the investment of a hot tub in the back yard…”
“You’re insatiable,” he teased, opening the door for you.
You laughed and were so busy looking at him - his thick, dark hair that was flecked with gray; his plush lips; his soft eyes - that it took you a second to realize there were roses and petals all over the room, a bottle of wine chilled in a bucket on the small table.
“Joel?” You looked back at him and he just shrugged, smiling.
You went further into the room and realized that it wasn’t just flowers and wine. There were framed pictures of you and Joel from the last year of your lives together. One of the two of you on Bourbon Street, another from when you decided to actually take those wine tasting classes you’d talked about, one from your second Longhorn’s game. There were at least a dozen, each one making it look so, so obvious that you made each other happy. That you gave each other the lives you wanted.
You picked up the picture by the bedside, the first selfie you’d ever taken together. You were hiking and you’d held your arm out far enough to try to capture some of the view behind you. You were smiling hugely at the camera, hair grimy with sweat, Joel’s arm around your shoulders. But he wasn’t looking at the camera. Instead, he was looking at you. Looking at you like you were the only thing worth looking at. Looking at you like you made him happier than just about anything else on Earth.
“What…” You trailed off, looking up from the picture to see Joel, on one knee with a box in his hands at the foot of the bed.
You gasped and jumped, your hands covering your mouth on instinct, eyes wide. Your feet moved before you really realized what was happening and it seemed sudden that you were right in front of him.
“Joel,” you breathed, trembling hands slowly leaving your face.
“For a very long time,” he said, his voice assured. “It felt like I’d gotten the only good thing I was going to get out of life. I had Sarah and seemed wrong to ask for more than that so I wasn’t lookin’ for it. Wasn’t lookin’ for you. But then I found you - or you found me, anyway - and I realized just how good life could be as long as I got to live it next to you.
“You are the single best person I’ve ever met. You’re so smart and funny and creative and kind and the most fun I’ve ever had and I can’t imagine anything better than getting to live the rest of my life with you. Will you make me the happiest man on Earth and marry me?”
***
Joel wasn’t sure his heart had ever beat this fast. Maybe when Sarah was first born and there were the torturous few seconds of silence before she started crying, not sure how anything about pregnancy or babies worked. Definitely never since.
But the silence between you seemed to drag on for an eternity even though he knew it could have only been a second or two. That didn’t stop his heart from racing.
“Yes,” you nodded, your voice thick, tears in your eyes. “Yes, yes, yes, yes yes!”
You damn near tackled him and he laughed, catching you and holding onto you as he lowered the two of you to the ground on a bed of rose petals.
Joel, Tommy and Nick had been in here getting everything set up while Sarah and Maria kept you busy in Sarah’s room. There was a brief moment of panic when Sarah texted that the three of you were headed to the party and Joel had to ask her to buy at least two minutes because they were walking to the elevator themselves.
“I’m so happy for you, man,” Tommy said, clapping Joel on the shoulder as they headed up to the party. “You deserve this, you really fuckin’ do.”
“She ain’t said yes yet,” Joel said, feeling the nerves all sudden and hot under his skin. “Don’t jinx it.”
“She’ll say yes,” Tommy said, sounding so confident. “Don’t ask me WHY but that woman adores you. She’s gonna love it.”
He hoped you did. He hoped you loved the idea at all, that you loved the proposal, that you loved the ring. Sarah had helped pick that part out so he was more confident of that, finding a piece that was elegant without looking dated, something that he hoped you’d like wearing for the rest of your life.
Because that’s what he wanted. He wanted you, wanted to make you happy, for the rest of your life.
He slid the ring onto your finger, the diamond catching the light as he did.
“Are you serious?” You asked, looking from the ring to him.
“Serious about spending the rest of my life with you?” He asked. “Can’t think of anything better.”
You threw your arms around his neck and kissed him, hard and needy. He leaned into it for a moment before he pulled back from you.
“Should move to the bed,” he breathed. “Gotta treat my fiancee right.”
You just nodded quickly and Joel got up before helping you to your feet.
He tugged your dress up and over your head - as much as he wanted to fuck you in the sexy little thing you’d been tempting him with all night, the need to feel your skin was too great - and eased you down onto the bed.
You moved to the middle of it and Joel got undressed, his eyes watching you hungrily, the glint of his ring on your finger making him somehow even harder. You removed your bra and cast it aside before you slipped your panties down your legs and tossed them to the side, leaving you exposed and bare. You were everything it seemed like he’d ever wanted and you were his, the proof of it right there on your hand. He fisted his cock, pumping himself once, twice, as he climbed between your legs.
He wanted to make this last. He wanted to go down on you and swallow your pleasure until you were screaming with it. He wanted to kiss every inch of your skin. He wanted to tease you with his fingers until you were begging for his cock. But he wasn’t sure he could, not that moment. He had a feeling you wouldn’t be leaving the bed for a few days after this.
“Joel,” you panted, watching him, pupils blown and back arched. He smiled. For some reason, you wanted him like he wanted you.
“Yes, Mrs. Miller?” He breathed, settling between your open legs, the apex of your thighs hot against his skin. You moaned and rocked your hips up against him, your needy little clit pressing into his skin.
“Fuck,” you moaned, closing your eyes, fingers gripping his bicep tightly. “Love the sound of that…”
“You have no idea, Beautiful,” he said, kissing you, grinding his cock against your dripping slit. You moaned, the movement of your hips stuttering for a moment before you adjusted the angle so the tip of him was catching on your entrance with ever pass, just enough for the most sensitive part of him to be enveloped in your tight, wet heat.
“Need you,” you were almost gasping with it, desperate and wanting. “Please, please, need to feel you, I need…”
“Always going to give you what you need, Baby,” he said, his cock dipping further into you this time before he pulled back and pushed himself against your clit again. “Always gonna take care of you, always.”
He pushed into you then, firm but not to fast, your breath catching on your throat as he did. Joel kissed you, trying not to think about how damn good you felt, how it seemed like he belonged right there, deep inside you.
“Fuck,” your nails dug into him but he held on. “Fuck, you feel so fucking good how do you feel this fucking good?”
He could only moan in response, fucking into you, feeling you open up to him, your walls gripping him tight. He stayed still inside you for a moment, savoring it, the feeling of you around him while he was over you, the way you held onto him.
But he couldn’t last that way for long. You - his fiancee. His fiancee, no one else’s, you belonged to no one but him - felt too damn good for him to last too long inside of you and he had to move, he had to.
So he did, starting a little slower but still firm, pressing his hips into you so your hot little clit was against his skin.
He could feel you starting to tighten around him, like your body was trying to pull him deeper somehow, your lips messy and desperate when they found his, trialing little kisses over his body when they don’t.
“That’s it, Beautiful,” he panted into you. “Come for me, can feel how close you are, just let go for me, let me feel you. Need to feel you…”
You gasped his name and pressed your whole body tight against him as you came around him, your pussy fluttering around him, working his cock, all warm and soft trying to pull him as deep as you could take him. He fucked you through it, hardly able to hold off his own orgasm, the aftershocks of yours still rippling through your tight channel when he emptied himself into you until he didn’t even have the strength to hold himself up anymore, collapsing on you, his head over your shoulder so he could smell your skin and your hair. Fuck, he loved that smell. Fuck, he loved you.
After a minute, he adjusted the two of you so you were draped over his chest, your arms all soft and pliant, close enough that he could feel your heartbeat on his skin, feel your soft, little breaths on him. You held up your left hand, turning the ring back and forth in the light.
“You’re sure about this?” You asked, glancing up at him as you fidgeted with the ring.
“More sure than I’ve ever been about anything,” he said. “Would make you Mrs. Miller tomorrow if you’d let me.”
You laughed a little at that, putting your hand down on his chest and taking a deep breath.
“Doesn’t seem fair,” you said softly.
“What doesn’t?”
“You’ve given me so much,” you said. “You’ve given me everything I’ve ever wanted - everything. Feels like I’m not holding up my end.”
“You kiddin’ me?” He scoffed. “You’re so perfect I have to remind myself that you’re real sometimes, that I’m not just imagining you. You make me the luckiest man on Earth every damn day by just breathing in the same room as me. If anything’s not fair, it’s that I got too greedy asking you to marry me. Should know to quit when I’m this far ahead.”
You laughed and pressed your lips into his chest, looking at the ring again, twisting it this way and that with your thumb.
“Make you a deal,” you said, adjusting your head so you were looking at him.
“What’s your proposal?” He asked, teasing.
“You take care of me,” you said. “Make sure I’m not getting too overwhelmed or overdoing it at work or just getting too in my own head. I’ll take care of you, make sure you take time for yourself, make sure you relax, make sure you know how great you are. Deal?”
He smiled a little.
“Deal, Mrs. Miller.”
You smiled bigger.
“Excellent, Mr. Miller.”
He kissed your forehead.
“Don’t have to change your last name, you know,” he said, giving you a squeeze. “I can always just call you that for my own damn enjoyment without making it official.”
You laughed a little.
“No, I want to change it,” you said. “Sarah was right all along. I think I’m going to make a great Miller.”
A/N: Ahhh! I hope you all loved reading the story of Joel and Sarah's best friend as much as I loved sharing it! These two are so fun and so sweet, I'm so glad I got to give them the happy ending they deserved.
Thank you so so much for being here, for following along with this little story that started as a one shot based on a request that came in after I wrote another one shot as a request. I so appreciate that you're here, that you've spent your time with this fic and these characters and all of your support. This corner of the internet means everything to me and it's because you're a part of it <3 Love you!

Spiraling 2
Masterlist Part 1
Very mild angst, this time with happy ending Pairing: Ghost x you TW: swearing, mentions of military operations, mild mentions of torturing (no detailed descriptions) Summary: You confess him and try to spare him of your feelings right away. But it is not needed.
Tumblr media
"The problem is dealt with. I'll be staying here for a little longer. Staying frosty."
The only way, your message could ring more false is if you end it with an emoticon. But Ghost doesn't notice it, he never does. Ghost doesn't even answer on your message. And you know - It's for the best. This way, in a complete silence, it's so much easier to still love him, meeting no rejection.
You've tried so many times to end this for good: stop thinking about him, imagining, how would he react to something, you've just witnessed, stop worrying about him to the point of not being able to sleep or eat properly. Your last attempt was desperate and thoughtless: you came clean before him and dragged yourself as far as it was possible, hoping, that time could help you heal.
At first, you really felt better: new tasks, unfamiliar faces, a foreign country - all this filled the emptiness that you had previously guarded, like the apple of your eye, because only in this void Ghost was only yours. But in a pair of months you caught yourself making a photo of a sunset, as it was so mesmerizing, you thought, he would love it. And you understood: you didn't make any progress. The void was still there. Filling it was harder than filling a glass without a bottom. That's when you sent that fake message, bargaining for some more time.
When you finally came back - it took you all your strength to look calm. And in seemed, that Ghost believed you. You tried to grow a distance between you two. You believed, it would work as a shield from pain. It never did.
You both keep your masks on - only yours is not that obvious. Nobody can see, but your life now fits between short breaths.
Inhale: Ghost is standing outside, leaning against the wall of the barracks, you pass by.
Inhale: you and him are alone in the armory for a few minutes before someone else enters.
Inhale: Sunbeam touches his eyelashes for a second until he looks away.
In between these breaths you fit entire missions, sleepless nights at work, exhausting workouts. Your days are gradually intertwined into one endless thread.
But one day this thread stretches and trembles like a string. You two are alone, surrounded by enemies. Your hideout will be uncovered sooner or later - it's only a matter of time. You can't break through the enemy blockade from the inside: you've used up almost all your ammo. You frantically gut your magazines, trying to get more ammo for Ghost as he covers your trembling hands with his. He obviously got, what were you planing.
"No, we either make it out of here together, or not make it at all." His voice is stern, tone - peremptory.
You raise eyes on him, barely containing your rage. Bloody fool. I'm trying to bargain here for at least your life...
He puts a bunch of plastic clamps into your hand. "Tie me up. Bring `em Ghost and that might buy us time."
"Might?!" You were furious. For the first time in your life, you didn't believe your commander as he asked you to pay the highest price - his safety for a mere possibility of living till the moment the reinforcement reaches your destination. "No! No-no, we are not doing it, no..."
He cuts off your sporadic mumbling, cupping your cheeks and guiding your face towards him. Given, that Ghost barely touched not only you, but anyone - this gesture of his startles you. He wants, needs you to do it. "Look at me, soldier!" His fingers squeeze your face lightly. "Look at me and think of every time I failed you, every bit of pain I brought you. Then take a bloody clamp and tie me up. Now they'll probably beat me, maybe they get more creative, but if you happen to see or hear any of it - I want you to think only about problems I caused you. Is that clear?"
Your lips are quivering: maybe it's his rough voice, that pains you, maybe it's your helplessness in this situation, maybe it's his plan. But you do as he asks. The last thing, you want to do is to risk his life. But you were always such a good colleague, perfect squadmate. Maybe, it's time to play this part one more time, if it makes him happy.
You take a last look at him, before stepping out of your hideaway: a perfect bait, a true beast of man, restrained and humbly quiet under your gaze. You hate to see him so, deep inside you are screaming, begging for his mercy, pleading him to run. He takes a step closer and whispers one word in attempt to cheer you up.
"Showtime."
You feel as if you were thrown into ice water. With each next step, your arms and legs become numb. You do not remember how you led Ghost directly into the enemies' lair, how you yourself knocked him to the ground in front of them. "This dirtbag wouldn't see a lie even if it was written all over his fucking face." You wish, you'd forgotten those words leaving your lips, immediately, but you don't.
But the worst part is what follows: they beat him in front of you, they get creative, you witness everything. But his eyes never leave yours. And both masks: yours and his, stay on. The only thing, that helps you to endure through this torture is a sight of his hands, that were tied so badly, he can escape any minute now.
Showtime. This is so 'not Ghost', so out of character, he must just have heard it somewhere... Every time this word pops up in your mind, a lump rolls up in your throat. But you don't show it.
Beating, mockery, Ghosts barely audible hissing - everything is interrupted in an instant, when a suspicious crunch is heard in the thickets outside the window. "I did not send anyone to reconnaissance," says one of your captors. You look back at him and hold your breath. If your plan is revealed now, you and Ghost are as good as dead. You don't dare to look at the window and let others know, you wait for the attack.
Dead silence is interrupted by a terrible crack, with which Ghost rips loosened clamps and throws aside the chair to which he was tied. You do not have time to turn in his direction when he knocks you down at full speed, and throws you to the ground.
"Give me one reason to not strangle you right here, you scum," he growls into your face.
Dull, drawing pain flows from your skull along the spine to all the limbs. You are exhausted and lost. You look into his dark furious eyes and don't even understand, what is going on. But your mask cracks and slowly falls apart as pain, sorrow and insults leave your lips. You can't even control it, you spill everything: how you hate growing the emptiness inside you for someone, who never needed it, how tired are you of fighting yourself, how useless you feel, when you spend days resisting every your single urge.
By the time your tirade dries up, you've already forgotten how it started. You both are surrounded by deafening noises, and you can hardly shout it over.
“... I can’t deal with this problem. No matter how far I go from you, no matter how I bury myself in work, my problem catches up with me time after time! I can't do it, I can't!"
An explosion hoots muffledly somewhere deep in the building and Ghost instinctively covers your head with his hands. And only at that moment, you begin to realize what happened. He did not even think to kill you - on the contrary, he protected you, played for time and distracted your enemies from the reinforcements that arrived to help you. By knocking you to the floor, he only covered you from random shots.
At first, pure delight floods your mind. This is why Ghost is on another level: he controls the situation to the very end. But then you notice something: his eyes changed. There is no more cold distance in his gaze. Maybe you hit your head well, but you can swear, you see something under his mask - not the skull one, but his familiar demeanor. There is dismay, even panic there. The surrounding noise gradually subsides. Ghost looks around, and then his eyes meet yours again.
"I'm sorry." He says so quietly, you are not sure, you didn't imagine it.
On the way back, you feel his hand somewhere around constantly. Comforting, reassuring, guiding.
It's only in medbay where you lose his touch, as your mind drifts to sleep.
When you wake up - it's still dark outside. You blindly fumble your hand across the bedside table, hoping to stumble upon a glass of water. But you grope for something unusual - an envelope. Inside is a small sheet of thick paper with two phrases. With incredible difficulty, you find the angle at which the dim moonlight breaking through your window illuminates the leaf.
Familiar handwriting.
"It is not a problem. And never was."

Inukag Week, day 2: Moonlight
Barely squeezed it out but by God I posted before midnight
Day 1 is, apparently, going to take me all week. Because it gave me motivation (coughanexcusecough) to try and make an animatic I've wanted to do for a long time. I've already had to temper my expectations to just the last minute or so of the song to get it done at all, so we'll see how that goes!
In the meantime, have an incredibly self-indulgent drag au
Still Into You cover by Natewantstobattle and Amalee

~~~~~~
Why Don't You Do Right?
Kagome giggled to herself as she finished her makeup, taking a moment to admire herself. Her hair was pinned up and back, covered by a brown felted fedora decorated with fluffy cat ears to hide the mass of it. Her cream button down shirt and crisp green waistcoat were perfectly fitted, falling nicely over her flattened chest. The matching green slacks were tailored to her exact centimeter, with cream spats fitted over brown oxfords she'd spent a week breaking in for this night.
“You excited?” She asked, glancing over to her partner with makeup-sharpened eyes.
“... Yeah,” he admitted, sounding just a little shy as he examined himself in the neighboring vanity. Satisfied with her own work, she watched him brush his fringe around until it lay just so in front of the felt dog ears pinned into his hair. His normally thick, dark brows had been glued down and painted over, leaving them thin and arched. His jaw had been softened by an expertly applied contour pallet, and dramatic eyeliner and mascara lent extra intensity to his golden eyes as he met her gaze. He smirked at her. “You planin’ on sittin’ there staring at me all night?”
“Hang on,” she insisted, leaning back and crossing her arms as she looked him over with a grin. “You know I love taking the time to appreciate what a beautiful woman you are.”
Inuyasha couldn't hide how his face flushed brightly at her words, with his usual long curtain of frost-white hair pulled back out of the way and curled into a beautifully coiffed ponytail. The pieces framing his face were similarly curled, giving him the aura of a magical princess, or perhaps a bride.
Standing from her seat, Kagome took an easy step forward, hands finding the arms of his chair as she leaned down to give him a kiss. She felt callused fingers on her cheek, and smiled into his mouth.
“Gonna ruin my lipstick,” he muttered between kisses, though he made no move to pull away. Emboldened by his enthusiasm and the character she played, Kagome nipped at his lower lip, drawing a gasp from her lover.
“It's never stopped you, why should it stop me?” She teased, recalling how much he'd enjoyed messing up her lipstick when she was already late for work earlier that week. “Besides, the crowd’ll love seeing how much I adore my ‘wife’.”
Inuyasha blushed so pretty, she thought, reaching over to pick up the tube of lipstick so she could touch it up for him. His eyes fluttered shut at the contact, and she smiled as his false eyelashes brushed his cheeks. He already had quite long eyelashes, which had come in handy when they were just dressing up casually, but stage performance required stage makeup, according to the woman who'd been working with them on their routine.
“What do you think the odds are that Kikyo and Koga’ll see us tonight?” He asked, flashing her a grin of his own as the tube left his lips.
“Infinitesimal. But it'd be funny; three years going on dates in crossdress to avoid them, and they finally ping us when we're on stage of all places?” she laughed, leaning back so she could see him properly.
For as much of a fuss as he made when she had first suggested it, there was a certain softness dressing up like this brought out in him that Kagome adored. Sure, he could be soft with her, when the two of them were alone. But under the make-up and pretty clothes, she found a different form of vulnerability he didn't portray when he wore the clothes of a man. And she hadn't been kidding - Inuyasha made for a beautiful woman.
The first time she had suggested dressing in drag, it was out of desperation for just one date to not get ruined by her stalker ex-coworker or his stalker ex-girlfriend. After a few tries, they didn't spot them anymore, but they figured they'd keep it up a bit longer “just to be safe”. Going to a drag show was just meant to be a fun date, relevant to how they'd been doing things; she hadn't expected to be so quickly welcomed into the community, or to get picked up by a professional drag queen who'd encouraged them to give the stage a shot.
“Kat? Shii?” A voice called, drawing their eyes away from one another to one of the assistants working backstage. “You have some visitors.”
“Hey you two!” Miroku called, followed by Sango to the little corner they'd taken up for their costume changes. The backstage area was bustling with queens and kings, she was surprised that they'd been allowed, nevermind that they'd gotten a guide.
“What're you guys doing here?”
“Figured we'd come show a little moral support, that's all!” Sango assured, pulling a bouquet of flowers from behind her back with a smile. “Just wanted to sneak in quick before you got on stage.”
“Oh my goodness, thank you!” Kagome beamed, standing to accept the flowers.
“Think you're ready? Big crowd out there,” nudging Inuyasha's shoulder, Miroku gave him a teasing grin. He was having an awfully good time for someone who'd gotten his shit rocked after groping Inuyasha in full drag without knowing it. Inuyasha - Shibuya - had slapped him so hard he'd briefly started speaking Korean.
Inuyasha rose to his feet, the stiletto heels he'd become expertly accustomed to putting him half a head taller than Miroku.
“Good. We've got a big show to put on,” he hummed, smiling when Kagome wrapped an arm around his slim waist, emphasized by the padding at his hips and backside. She knew she looked very much a manlet at his side, and there was a part of her that reveled in it - like Inuyasha became somewhat softer, Kagome became somewhat bolder when she was dressed for date night. She loved her skirts and dresses in day-to-day, but there was a wonderful feeling of power in fitted suits and nice men's shoes. She smiled up at him, and he returned the look, his hair turned into a glowing halo by an overhead light.
“Alright. We should get back out to the audience if we want to get drinks before you two go on,” Miroku smiled, taking Sango's hand in his. “Break a leg!”
“You're gonna do great!” Sango agreed, waving with her free hand. “And Kagome!”
She looked at her friend.
“You've got lipstick in your mustache,” she warned, giggling as she and Miroku disappeared back out front. Squeaking in surprise, Kagome turned to the mirror, ignoring Inuyasha's laughter as she snatched up a make-up wipe to carefully removed the red smudges without disturbing the thin mustache and whiskers she'd drawn on with eyeliner.
“Don't tell me you two are getting fans already? You haven't even gone on stage yet!”
Inuyasha turned back, grinning at Jakotsu.
“If friends count as fans, then sure,” he hummed as the older drag queen came into their little corner. He accepted Jakotsu’s hug graciously, surprisingly touchy when he was all dolled up.
“Well don't you look pretty as a peony! How's the dress, sweetheart? Good fit?”
“Great fit! Thanks for lending it to me.”
“You go ahead and keep it. It's totally your color, and it looks better on you than it ever looked on me,” she insisted, patting his cheek. Inuyasha looked like he wanted to argue, but Jakotsu was clearly having none of it. The red dress was flashier than anything he'd ever worn while crossdressing, with a high kimono-style collar and a short, ruffled skirt that showed off the strong shape of his already long legs. Kagome made a mental note to give Jakotsu an extra thank-you later - she would make sure Inuyasha got plenty of mileage out of that dress.
Kagome finally stood from fixing her face, turning to smile at Jakotsu and accept his hug with much more enthusiasm.
“Kagome darling, you look so good! I like the facial hair! Very macho,” he assured, gently brushing a thumb over the eyeliner-goatee.
“Thank you! I wasn't sure about it at first, but it felt right, y'know?”
“It was a good choice, Tom cat!” he nodded, hands coming to rest on her shoulders. “Now, the crowd’s already wound up a bit, so you get to walk into good energy! Don't get nervous on me!”
“Oh, we've been in way more nerve-wracking situations. A little crowd work’ll be a walk in the park,” Inuyasha waved off the warning, confident as ever. Squealing in excitement, Jakotsu jumped around a little, stopping only when another assistant tapped his shoulder, reminding him that the current performer was almost done. “Okay! Okay okay okay! You guys ready?”
“Ready as we'll ever be.”
“One sec,” Kagome gasped, turning to the bouquet that she'd set on the table. Finding a red carnation, Kagome broke it at the second node, lifting the bloom and tucking it into Inuyasha's hair tie so it sat at the base of his ponytail. Taking another moment to stand in awe of him, she smiled brightly and took his hand in hers. “Okay. Ready.”
“Ooooh, I could just eat you two up!” Jakotsu squealed, moving behind them to push them forward. “Alright, your music’s queued up, Iono’s almost finished. Just wait for me to introduce you, and you can come do your thing!”
“You can count on us!” Kagome assured, her arm sliding back around Inuyasha's waist as Jakotsu left them to take to the stage.
“Everybody give it up one more time for Iono Montoya!”
The crowd renewed its roars, and a woman in a curly wig and bedazzled fencing foil passed them, squeezing their shoulders and flashing a smile.
“Remember, folks! The quickest way to a man's heart? Is between the fourth and fifth rib!" Jakotsu laughed brightly along with the crowd, flapping the loose collar of her robe as if to give herself some air. “Now then! Our next performers are my own discovery; new to the Camelia Club stage! Better to look and not touch, my dears, because these puppy-lovers are equal parts bark and bite! Get ready for canine claws and feline fangs, and please welcome to the stage, Shibuya Inuyamato, and Tom-Katsuki Nekomata!”
With deep breaths, Inuyasha and Kagome faded, and Shibuya and Katsuki stepped out into the spotlights to the roar of the crowd. Shibuya spotted Miroku and Sango at one of the tables off to the side, and squeezed Katsuki’s hand while the other waved to the crowd. Katsuki waved as well, but he couldn't help how his eyes kept being drawn to his partner. Shibuya's face had fully lit up at the warm reception from the crowd, her expression open and excited. Jakotsu winked as she passed them, pressing the microphone into Katsuki's hand. With a confident smirk and a nod of thanks, he took hold of it, turning to the audience.
"What an incredible greeting!" he began, getting a few extra cheers. He had gotten quite good at deepening his voice with Jakotsu’s vocal training, and hearing it back from the speakers, even he was a little impressed with himself. "I don't think I've felt this welcome anywhere but the arms of my beautiful wife! What do you think, Shii?"
Shibuya reached up to wrap her hand around Katsuki's on the mic, long red nails tracing the length of his fingers.
"I think you just like making me blush in front of strangers, Kat,” she shot back, sweet falsetto sending a shock of warmth down his spine.
"Guilty as charged. Can't help myself sweetheart, not my fault you look so damn good in red, wouldn't you agree folks?"
The crowd went wild again, and Katsuki saw Shibuya's face go even darker at the applause.
"Careful, Kat! You keep laying it on that thick, we're all gonna choke on it."
"Give you something else to choke on later, pup.”
That got the crowd whooping, and Katsuki could distinctly make out Sango's familiar shriek of laughter. He gave her a wink, and Shibuya leaned down to laugh into his hair. Wrapping his arm firmly around Shibuya's waist, he let her take the mic and gestured to the audience.
"We're here to sing for these fine people! Try to hold off on the choking."
"Well! In that case we'd better get this rig rollin'," she hummed, twirling out of his arms to slide it into the mic stand. Their hands remained clasped, tethering them together, and when Shibuya turned to smirk at him, the guitar kicked in.
“Can't count the years on one hand that we've been together."
“I need the other one to hold you, make you feel, make you feel better.”
Katsuki found himself smiling even as he moved his mouth to the words.
The routine they had created for the song was an intricate one, allowing Kagome's attention to detail to guide Inuyasha's stronger, more physically adept body.
“It's not a walk in the park, to love each other.”
“But when our fingers interlock, can't deny, can't deny, you're worth it.”
"Cause after all this time," she sang, arms sliding around Katsuki's neck, "I'm still into you~”
Katsuki scooped her up into his arms.
"I should be over all the Butterflies!" they spun, confetti butterflies raining from the celling. "But I'm into you." "I'm into you!”
"And baby even on our worst nights! I'm into you!"
"I'm into you!”
"Let 'em wonder how we got this far! Cause I don't really need to wonder at all! Yeah after all this time, I'm still, into you."
The pair moved together with an automatic ease. It had been there since before their relationship had turned romantic; dancing around each other almost from the moment they'd met. Where one went, the other followed. When one moved to strike, the other covered their blind spot. And this dance had been intentional, perfected by months of dedicated practice. Inuyasha and Kayome's natural synchronicity was only emphasized by Shibuya and Katsuki's flamboyant motions and unabashed need to be close to one another. They only separated briefly during the second verse and chorus to collect tips from excited viewers, but it was clear to everyone present how eager they were to return to each other's arms.
"Some things just, some things just make sense and one of those is you and I.”
Shibuya leaned back a little, so Katsuki had to look past her enhanced chest to meet her sultry gaze.
"Some things just, some things just make sense, and even after all this time. I'm into you~"
"Baby not a day goes by that I'm not not into you!"
Katsuki lifted one of Shibuya's legs to hitch it on his hip, supporting her weight with one hand on her back as he dipped her back, turning to display her for the audience.
"I should be over all the butterflies~!!"
"I'm into you!" "I'm into you!"
They leaned into each other in turn, spinning together to gain momentum. Kat turned his back to the crowd lifting his partner while she braced her hands on his shoulders.
"And baby even on our worst nights!”
"I'm into you!" "I'm into you!”
"Let 'em wonder how we got this far!" Her arms slid around his shoulders
"Cause I don't really need to wonder at all!" his hands found purchase on her hips.
"Yeah after all this time, I'm still into you,”
"I'm still into you," Kat turned, pulling Shibuya into another dip.
"I'm still, into-" Shii leaned up, ignoring the last lyric to pull Katsuki into a fierce kiss. Going willingly, the performers found themselves only vaguely aware that they were not alone. The applause died down as a figure passed them, but the pair only separated with an embarrassed gasp when someone tapped the mic.
"Wonderful show, you two!" Jakotsu cheered, turning to give them a cheeky smile. "And a wonderful opportunity to remind our audience; make certain to spay and neuter your pets."
Blushing brightly, the pair righted themselves, taking a final bow to the encouraging whoops whistles of the audience before absconding to the backstage area to pick up where they left off.
AO3 Wrapped: Writer's Edition
tagged by @cheesenames
Words written this year: 43,215 (genuinely how. for context the last things I wrote before this year were all sub 1k pretty much)
Works written this year: 5, all star wars, 3 of those being peedy...
Work Most Proud of: girl and ghost. for something written for a headcanon I don't personally like that much I think it ended up being the neatest and best constructed of everything? providence, in summer has, imo, several massive pacing, thematic and structural issues that annoy me deeply
Work with Most Hits: providence, in summer which is the inevitable answer given its a) not a crackfic, and b) is about an actual main star war character
Fav title: providence, in summer. it's based on the 'providence in the fall of a sparrow' line from hamlet, which is imo quite fitting for padme as I read her (a character who has devoted her entire life to grander works than her, save this little corner of peace she has attempted to whittle out - which even then is caught up in prophecy lol - and I like and certainly used the force sensitivity via the twins idea - suddenly getting these strange awarenesses of the world you can't control and feel alien yet total in their correctness. horrible!) but I thought the unaltered quote was both too long and also didn't properly represent the themes of the fic, see my earlier note about how I'm not satisfied with providence overall lol, so I added the 'in summer' part which does get across another slightly flopped theme of that aka the temporary nature of it all. something both longed for and hated (I despise the heat in summer)
Pairing You Wrote the Most For: sigh. with pain in my voice I must accept my crown. peedy. I was also the World's Most Prolific Peedy Writer (I know I know, please hold the applause)
What Work was the Quickest To Write: um. my dad...the emperor! which I wrote on one (1) train journey. admittedly a full day of train journey, but still.
What Work Took You Longest To Write: providence, in summer...and I'm probably going to redo it at some point lol
How Many WIPS do you have for next year: idk man ideas just spawn in my brain from time to time and sometimes they get accepted, and sometimes they go live in the googledocs prison. I do want to write the vader and the obi-wan ones I've had in docs hell for a while though...
Longest Work of the Year: providence, in summer, although coruscant dreams; or eedy in love is a relatively close second. what can I say I'm a versatile person
Shortest Work of the Year: one love story. I haven't finished it though. I want to do a coffeeshop (cafshop?) au and some other deeply cheesy 2010s fanfic au concept in it still
Fav character to Write: embarrassing (true) answer. eedy. because all im doing is writing crack so I really don't have to care that much about ensuring she has a coherent characterisation going on lol. the serious (false) answer would be padme though, I just really love her so even though I agonise about how to write her, I still have fun
Which work of yours have you re-read the most: girl and ghost because it is actually good.
Total Kudos this Year: boring
Total Hits This Year: also boring
Total Bookmarks This Year: see above
Total Subscriptions This Year: ditto
What Do You Listen To While Writing: either silence or like exclusively sofia isella songs? I don't even like them that much I cannot explain it, 'everybody supports women', 'I looked the future in the eyes, it's mine', and 'all of human knowledge made us dumb' all just. have writing vibes I really cannot explain it
Fav line or passage: oh god. evil question. uhhh can I choose two? nobody is stopping me
from girl and ghost: "She had realised that they were doomed one unremarkable afternoon in the gallery when Vel tipped back her head and laughed, golden girl awash in sparkling glass crystals. In the bright white light the tips of her eyelashes had shone like burnished copper bringing out the blue of her eyes, like some delicate artefact Kleya would handle white-gloved, carefully removed from touching it - for its own sake." (this was one of the first things I wrote for this. I really like it, even though the great gatsby influence is obvious...) from providence, in summer: "In her mind, she dismounted from the guarlara and walked out alone into the grass, blades brushing her shoulders, tangling in her hair until they pulled it out of the tight nautilus shells and carried her feathered headdress down to the ground. They pulled out the ribbons in her hair, brushed away her makeup, tore down the regalia of the queen and left the girl behind to walk on forwards deeper into the grass sea and its whispered susurrus-song; a land baptism between the sky and the sea in the art of emptiness, of hollowing out the self and allowing Naboo to reform her. The pale moons, veiled by day, bore witness as she walked alone and unafraid through the ocean, her path her own. Above her, the hawk followed, thermal currents carrying it smoothly along with her. Morning dew that had not yet evaporated beaded on her bare feet and the air was alive with the ancient song of the wind and the high chirp of crickets and calls of birds. The hawk cried, and Padmé woke from her dream." Girlhood + Makeup
My first experience with makeup came in the form of a cheap princess makeup set that came with a pair of high heels shoes to imitate the popular glass slipper from Disney’s “Cinderella”. Clip-on earrings, rings, and beaded necklaces intended to mimic diamonds we all know diamonds are a girl's best friend personally I'm more of a gold or pearl girly but I digress we all had this set or some variation of it. I’d dress up in little heels barely able to walk in them, lips properly glossed, peel off nail polish on my fingers with glittery eyeshadow across my eyelids the perfect embodiment of the prettiest girl in the world, well at least in my mind at that age. I often think about the fact that at an early age as girls, we’re given very few options at developmental stages in our lives when it comes to what could be our interests. We’re given baby dolls, cooking sets, make-up, and jewelry-making kits to keep our hands busy. We’re indoctrinated early on into the mindset to be focused on our looks and this translates into our older years switching out the cheaply manufactured make-up palettes to more expensive make-up kits equipped with the necessary items to perfectly conceal any imperfections that we may have. I had no interest in makeup after those days of enjoying the children's make-up sets. At most, I would use flavored lip gloss that came in an array of colours that wouldn't show on your lips but they were pretty to look at. Until I was a bit older maybe around 15 years old, again the influence of my eldest sister, she properly introduced me to make-up, and again for the first time, I had this feeling of fireworks going off in my mind. That initial “WOW”  I could look so pretty in a whole different form that  I had never known. Again I was sitting on the chair in front of the mirror my hair freshly done on my wonky kinky twists and now my face done well with a sparly shimmer shadow almost mirroring how it was done in my early years. The bold red lip didn't suit me at all but I  felt so pretty at that moment I didn't care. Something about that changes your brain chemistry as a young girl wearing makeup for the first time simply to go nowhere getting ready with your eldest sister It is quite remarkable and to this day I long for that experience once again. I'm very glad that I can still look back on that memory fondly and not with any type of disdain. Others have different experiences making their relationship with makeup more negative than mine and see it as a form of oppression. For me make-up is something that brought me joy simply because I didn't feel pressured or made to believe that it was something I needed I was reassured by my sister throughout the whole process that I was perfect with or without it makeup added to my natural beauty. I knew this before but the words of affirmation were very much needed for me to keep a great relationship with makeup. Even now when I wear my simple false eyelashes, brown lip liner coconut scented lip gloss over the top, and my blush I feel that same amount of confidence that I would have with a bare face.
       I believe all women are pretty without makeup, but  with the right makeup can be pretty powerful
Must-Have Accessories for Every Beauty Enthusiast
In the ever-evolving world of beauty and self-care, eyelash enhancements have become a staple in many routines. Whether you're a makeup artist, lash technician, or simply someone who loves the dramatic flair of voluminous lashes, knowing the right tools and accessories can make a world of difference. From extensions and adhesives to care tools, lash accessories are revolutionizing how we achieve flawless eye looks every day.
Tumblr media
Why Lash Accessories Matter More Than Ever
With beauty trends leaning heavily toward semi-permanent makeup and low-maintenance glam, lash accessories have taken center stage. These tools are not just add-ons — they’re essential components that help in application, protection, maintenance, and hygiene. Proper lash care ensures longer retention, healthier natural lashes, and a more polished appearance.
Tools That Make Lash Application a Breeze
A flawless set of lashes starts with precise application. To achieve this, you need the right tools at your disposal. Here are a few must-have lash tools every enthusiast should consider:
Lash Tweezers: Fine-tipped and curved for precision, lash tweezers allow accurate placement of individual lashes. They are vital for both isolation and application.
Lash Glue and Applicator: The quality of your adhesive is just as important as your lashes. A strong, long-lasting, and safe adhesive can make or break the outcome.
Lash Tape and Eye Pads: These help in securing the lower lashes and lifting the eyelid gently for better access to the lash line during application.
These tools streamline the lash process, reduce the risk of mistakes, and ensure better comfort for clients or personal users.
The Importance of Aftercare Accessories
Lash extensions and false lashes need to be taken care of properly to retain their charm. This is where aftercare accessories come into play. Cleaning, brushing, and storing lashes correctly are crucial steps that many tend to overlook.
Lash Brushes or Spoolies: Used for daily grooming, these brushes keep your extensions in shape and prevent them from tangling.
Lash Cleansers: Gentle, oil-free cleansers help remove debris and buildup without damaging the adhesive or your natural lashes.
Storage Cases: Keeping lashes in a clean, dry, and dust-free case extends their usability and maintains hygiene.
Hygiene is Non-Negotiable: Cleaning Tools You Need
No lash routine is complete without focusing on cleanliness. Dirty tools or lashes can lead to eye irritation, infections, or poor retention. That’s where the eyelash cleaning brush comes in — a compact, specially designed tool used to cleanse the lash line gently and effectively.
This tool ensures:
Removal of oil, dirt, and makeup residues.
Prevention of lash mites and infections.
Better bonding of extensions to natural lashes due to a clean surface.
Using this brush with a gentle lash shampoo daily or after makeup removal is a simple habit that pays off in lash health and comfort.
Trends in Lash Accessories: What's Hot Right Now
The lash industry continues to innovate. Today’s beauty market is full of products designed not just for professionals but also for at-home lash lovers. Here are some trending lash accessories that are catching attention:
Magnetic Lashes with Applicators: These eliminate the need for glue, using tiny magnets and special applicators for quick fixes.
Heated Lash Curlers: Unlike traditional curlers, these provide a more gentle and lasting curl for both natural and synthetic lashes.
LED Lash Mirrors: These magnified mirrors with built-in lights help users apply lashes with precision and clarity.
These trending tools combine convenience with function, enabling users to maintain salon-level results from the comfort of their homes.
Common Mistakes and How the Right Accessories Can Help
Many lash mishaps stem from the lack of proper accessories. For instance:
Falling lashes? You might need a better adhesive or to clean your lashes more regularly.
Uneven application? The right tweezer grip or magnifying mirror could solve that.
Eye irritation? Consider switching to hypoallergenic glue and use a cleaning brush consistently.
By simply upgrading your toolset, many of these issues can be eliminated or greatly reduced.
Final Thoughts: Invest in the Right Tools for Lasting Glam
The growing popularity of lash enhancements has made lash accessories an indispensable part of beauty routines. From tools that perfect your lash application to brushes that maintain lash hygiene, each item plays a unique and valuable role. Whether you're a seasoned artist or someone trying out lashes for the first time, having the right accessories ensures better results, less frustration, and more confidence.
The Luxurious Allure of Cashmere Lashes: A Complete Guide
Discover the elegance of cashmere lashes, the ultimate in lash luxury. Learn what sets them apart, how to apply them, and why they’re a must-have for flawless beauty.
What Are Cashmere Lashes?
Cashmere lashes are a premium type of false eyelashes known for their ultra-soft, lightweight, and feathery texture. Unlike synthetic lashes, which can feel stiff and unnatural, cashmere lashes mimic the delicate touch of real cashmere fabric—hence the name. They are crafted from high-quality synthetic fibers or sometimes even real hair, designed to blend seamlessly with natural lashes for a glamorous yet effortless look.
These lashes are favored by makeup artists and beauty enthusiasts for their ability to add volume without looking overly dramatic. The fibers are finely tapered, creating a wispy, fluttery effect that enhances the eyes without weighing them down.
Why Choose Cashmere Lashes Over Other Types?
Unmatched Softness
The defining feature of cashmere lashes is their incredible softness. While traditional false lashes can feel rough or itchy, cashmere lashes provide a cloud-like comfort that feels almost weightless.
Natural Yet Glamorous Look
Unlike overly dense strip lashes, cashmere lashes offer a balanced blend of volume and subtlety. They enhance the eyes without appearing overly fake, making them perfect for both daytime and evening wear.
Lightweight & Flexible Band
The lash band on cashmere lashes is typically thin and flexible, allowing for an easier, more comfortable application. This also means they conform better to the natural curve of the eyelid.
Reusable & Durable
High-quality cashmere lashes can be worn multiple times with proper care. Their delicate fibers hold their shape well, making them a worthwhile investment for lash lovers.
How to Apply Cashmere Lashes Like a Pro
Applying cashmere lashes requires a gentle touch to maintain their delicate structure. Follow these steps for a flawless finish:
Measure & Trim
Hold the lash strip against your eyelid to check the length. Trim any excess from the outer edge if needed.
Apply Lash Glue
Use a high-quality, latex-free lash adhesive. Apply a thin layer along the band and wait 20-30 seconds until the glue becomes tacky.
Place with Tweezers
Using tweezers or a lash applicator, gently press the cashmere lashes as close to your natural lash line as possible.
Blend with Mascara (Optional)
For a seamless look, lightly coat your natural lashes and the cashmere lashes with mascara to blend them together.
How to Care for Your Cashmere Lashes
To extend the life of your cashmere lashes, follow these care tips:
Remove Gently – Peel them off slowly, starting from the outer corner.
Clean After Use – Use a mild makeup remover to wipe away glue and mascara residue.
Store Properly – Keep them in their original case to maintain their shape.
Final Thoughts: Are Cashmere Lashes Worth It?
If you love the look of full, fluttery lashes without the heaviness of traditional falsies, cashmere lashes are an excellent choice. Their ultra-soft texture, natural appeal, and comfortable wear make them a standout option in the world of false eyelashes. Whether you're a beginner or a lash expert, cashmere lashes offer a touch of luxury that elevates any makeup look.
 Do You Pay Attention to Eye Cleansing?
Tumblr media
The eyes are the windows to the soul, and many people pay special attention to eye makeup. Eyeshadow, waterproof eyeliner, false eyelashes, and mascara are often a daily routine, especially for work. Beautiful eyes can significantly enhance one's overall image. However, while many focus on eye makeup, do you also pay attention to eye cleansing?
Despite being young, some people suffer from severe dark circles, diagnosed as both pigmentary and vascular dark circles. Even with good sleep, the dark circles don't seem to improve, which is quite frustrating!
Let's discuss how to clean and care for the delicate skin around the eyes. First, ensure you get enough sleep! Fatigue often shows up in the eyes first. Late nights and insomnia can harm the skin around your eyes, while sufficient sleep can improve many eye-related issues. Next, focus on cleaning the skin around your eyes. Many young people have issues with dark circles, especially those with larger eyes where dark circles are more noticeable. A significant cause of pigmentary dark circles could be the long-term residue of eye makeup that hasn't been properly removed.
For many women who love beauty but have dark circles, they tend to use thick concealer under the eyes to cover the dark circles. However, if you neglect proper cleansing after getting home at night, this can lead to pigment accumulation and worsen the condition of your skin, making dark circles even more severe. So, how should we clean the skin around our eyes?
For those who regularly wear full makeup, start by using a bi-phase makeup remover to remove eye makeup. Follow this with a cleansing oil or balm, and finally, use a gentle facial cleanser to clean the skin around your eyes. Cleaning the skin around the eyes is just as important as cleaning the face, but the skin around the eyes is much more delicate. Therefore, it's crucial to use very gentle cleansing products for eye care.
Besides proper cleansing, those with severe dark circles can also try using eye masks. I recommend VIIcode's oxygen eye pads, which can be worn overnight. You'll find that your eye area looks much better in the morning!
semi permanent eyelashes
Introduction
In the realm of beauty and self-expression, our eyes often steal the spotlight. Achieving luscious, long eyelashes has long been a symbol of beauty and allure. Enter the world of "semi-permanent eyelashes," a revolutionary beauty treatment that has transformed the way we enhance our natural lashes. In this article, we'll delve into the world of semi-permanent eyelashes, shedding light on what they are, why they've become a global sensation, the application process, and how to maintain their captivating beauty.
Understanding Semi-Permanent Eyelashes
Semi-permanent eyelashes, often referred to as eyelash extensions, are synthetic lashes meticulously attached to your natural lashes using a specialized adhesive. Unlike traditional false eyelashes that require daily application and removal, semi-permanent eyelashes can last for several weeks, providing a consistently striking look without the need for mascara.
The Global Popularity of Semi-Permanent Eyelashes
Semi-permanent eyelashes have gained worldwide popularity for various compelling reasons:
Effortless Beauty: These extensions offer the convenience of waking up with beautifully defined eyes every day, eliminating the need for daily mascara application, thus streamlining your beauty routine.
Customization: Skilled technicians can tailor semi-permanent eyelashes to your unique preferences, allowing you to achieve the exact look you desire, whether it's a natural enhancement or a dramatic transformation.
Long-Lasting Results: With proper care and maintenance, semi-permanent eyelashes can last for several weeks, delivering consistent beauty and boosting your self-confidence.
Enhanced Confidence: Striking eyelashes can make your eyes appear larger, brighter, and more captivating, enhancing your self-assuredness.
The Semi-Permanent Eyelash Application Process
Getting semi-permanent eyelashes involves several key steps:
Consultation: Your journey begins with a consultation with a skilled technician. During this consultation, you'll discuss your desired eyelash look, whether it's added volume, length, or curl. The technician will help you choose the perfect lashes to achieve your desired look.
Preparation: Before the application, your technician will ensure your natural lashes are clean and free of any oils or makeup, providing an ideal surface for proper adhesion.
Application: Using specialized adhesive, the technician will meticulously attach individual eyelash extensions to your natural lashes. This is a precise and intricate process that can take some time, depending on your chosen style.
Final Touches: After attaching the extensions, your technician will ensure they are well-aligned, separated, and styled to perfection.
Aftercare for Semi-Permanent Eyelashes
Proper aftercare is crucial for maintaining the beauty and longevity of your semi-permanent eyelashes:
Avoid Water and Steam: For the first 24-48 hours after the application, steer clear of water, steam, and saunas to allow the adhesive to set properly.
Gentle Cleansing: Use a mild, oil-free cleanser to clean your eyelashes. Avoid rubbing or tugging to protect the extensions.
Daily Brushing: Regularly comb through your lashes with a clean spoolie brush to keep them aligned and looking their best.
Avoid Oil-Based Products: Be cautious with makeup and skincare products. Oil-based items can weaken the adhesive and lead to premature extension loss.
Regular Touch-Ups: Semi-permanent eyelashes typically require touch-up appointments every 2-3 weeks to maintain their fullness and beauty.
Conclusion
Semi-permanent eyelashes have revolutionized the way we enhance our natural beauty, offering a practical and long-lasting solution for achieving the stunning, full lashes we've always coveted. Whether you prefer a subtle enhancement or a bold transformation, these extensions can be customized to reflect your unique style and elevate your natural beauty. With the right aftercare and maintenance, semi-permanent eyelashes can be your beauty secret, making every day a good lash day and leaving you feeling effortlessly beautiful.
Without the fuss of mascara or fake eyelashes, eyelash extensions are a fantastic method to achieve longer, thicker lashes. But on rare occasions, individuals who have had eyelash extensions will notice that their eyelashes are falling out - and it's not because the extensions didn't work! Although eyelash loss isn't hazardous in any way, it might make you question the skills of your beautician. You've spent the time honing your eyelash extension application, and when you finish, you're proud of your work. Two weeks later, though, you start to notice clumps of lashes around your client's eye where the lashes formerly were. What happened? There are a few factors that can lead to this circumstance, but by being aware of them and knowing how to avoid them, you can ensure that it never occurs again! What do we mean by falling lashes? Eyelash fallout occurs when lash extensions cause your natural lashes to shed more quickly than usual. Eyelash extensions falling out might not be a harbinger and gloom, so remain composed and take a big breath. Make a wish when you notice a fallen eyelash on your cheek; it happens occasionally. However, if you start noticing them more regularly, you can start to wonder why your lashes are thinning out. The tiny hairs that frame our eyes go through growth, rest, and shedding periods just like the hair on our heads. However, if you're unsure of the cause of increased eyelash shedding, it can be very unsettling. What do you need to know about eyelashes? Let's examine the fundamentals regarding eyelashes before discussing why your client's eyelashes are falling out after applying for extensions. Eyelashes have a function in our beauty in addition to shielding our eyes from dust and the weather. We frequently take them for granted, so it might be concerning when they begin to fall out. Natural eyelashes, false eyelashes, and lash extensions are the three primary categories of eyelashes. Our natural eyelashes are the ones we are born with, and if they fall out, they normally grow back. False eyelashes can be placed using adhesive and are only temporary. Lash extensions are bonded to your natural lashes and are semi-permanent. Depending on how well you take care of them, they often last six weeks to two months. Eyelash extensions are a permanent method for making your lashes look fuller without the use of mascara. Eyelash extensions are a safe approach to enhancing the appearance of natural lashes when properly administered by a certified and trained specialist. They can cause irritation, infection, and permanent lash loss if put incorrectly or with the wrong adhesive. Eyelash extensions are individual lashes, as opposed to temporary false eyelashes that connect to the lid on a single strip. They adhere to your lashes one at a time. Eyelash extensions are intended to last for the usual growth cycle of natural lashes, which is one to two months. Maintenance is necessary during this period to keep the extensions looking natural. Eyelash extensions are created from a variety of materials. These include synthetics like faux mink and plastic fibers, as well as natural materials like silk and mink. Eyelash extensions should be connected with a nonirritating, waterproof eyelash or surgical adhesive that is designed to withstand sweat and oil. Medical-grade glues may be the best option. They are odorless and non-irritating to most skin types. Since they eliminate the need for mascara, eyelash extensions are a huge time saver when it comes to applying and removing makeup daily. You'll save even more time if you wear false eyelashes regularly. no more fumbling with glue and having your artificial eyelashes fall off prematurely. Eyelash extensions also provide numerous alternatives. You may customize the length, curl style, and thickness of the extensions. Do Eyelash Extensions Look Realistic? The final appearance is intended to add length, fullness, and lift to your natural lashes.
It is up to the client if they want a more dramatic or natural look, but in general, the more lashes put on, the more dramatic the impact.  A typical treatment includes 80-140 individual extensions per eye, with lashes ranging in length from 6-18mm. "There isn't a one-size-fits-all solution." "For example, if you have damaged lashes or naturally weak, short natural lashes, you may not be able to achieve the same dramatic effect as a customer with stronger, thicker lashes." What is the average lifespan of eyelash extensions? Since extensions are linked to the lash, they endure for the same amount of time as the normal growth cycle or roughly six weeks. To prolong the life of your implants, use a lash conditioner and gently comb through your lashes with a dry spoolie brush. Getting "refills" every 7-10days to fill in any gaps is also beneficial. What causes lash extensions to fall out? Your client's eyelash extensions may cause their natural lashes to fall out for several reasons. First, the natural lashes may be weak and prone to falling out if the lash artist didn't clean them before placing the extensions. Second, the extensions could weigh down the natural lashes and cause them to fall out if the lash artist applied the glue improperly or with too much glue. Third, the natural lashes may also fall out if the lash technician put the extensions too close to their roots. Finally, if your client has any pre-existing disorders (such as alopecia or trichotillomania) that have an impact on the health of their lashes, this could also be a factor in why their lashes started to fall out after obtaining extensions. The following actions can be taken to stop your client's eyelashes from shedding: 1. Encourage your clients to practice good eye and lash hygiene, such as using eye drops and avoiding abrasive makeup removers. 2. Tell them to refrain from activities that can harm their lashes, such as strenuous exercise or hair styling with a straightening or curling irons. 3. To prevent further harm to the natural lashes during removal, have the final application of the extensions performed by a professional. 4. To remove extensions without leaving behind any residue, use a mild saline solution rather than water. 5. Suggest your client see an ophthalmologist or dermatologist for assistance if they are still having issues with their lashes after the extensions have been removed. Depending on what they discover, the treatment plan might need to be modified. Since there is still no conclusive explanation, your client will probably be curious as to what happened. They will seek assurance that the problem is temporary and won't reoccur. Make an effort to explain what happened, but avoid giving false assurances that it won't happen again. Is it normal for real eyelashes to fall out with extensions? Real eyelashes are often shed as part of their normal growth cycle every 60 to 90 days. But if you wear eyelash extensions, your natural lashes may also fall out alongside the extensions. There is no cause for concern since this is usual. The good news is that you can take a few steps to lessen the likelihood of this occurring. How to fix damaged eyelashes after extensions? There are a few things you may do to aid if your client's eyelashes are falling out after receiving the extensions. Try to identify the reason first. If the lashes are falling out at the root, the adhesive may not have been placed properly. It's possible that the extensions were applied too firmly or that the natural lashes were too weak to start with if they are breaking in the middle. You can take action to address the issue if you are aware of the cause. If the adhesive, for instance, is the problem, you could try a new brand. You might try utilizing lighter or shorter extensions if your natural lashes are too frail. You can also try loosening the extensions if they were put too tightly. Again, depending on the origin of the problem, there
are solutions. You simply need to figure out what works best for your client and their specific requirements. Remember that one size does not fit all when it comes to repairing any damage caused by an extension! For example, if your lashes break in the middle due to being too thin, try using shorter extensions the following time to avoid putting strain on them. If your client has sensitive eyes or is allergic to a type of adhesive, have a backup plan available so she doesn't have to wear her extensions for an extended period. If your client wears mascara every day and wants additional volume without having to lengthen her lashes, inquire about lash permachange or adding some fresh length with strip lashes or individual strip lashes on top of her existing set. A permachange adds thickness, curl, and body to fine-haired people's hair, creating instant glamourous volume and keeping hair looking fresh all day. Stick-on lashes are ideal for individuals who want to enhance length without going full-on artificial lash! There are also semi-permanent solutions, such as perm attached, which can last up to 3 months and offers the ideal simply extended look. Permachange is typically considerably more subtle than extensions, providing the necessary fullness. Finally, it is critical to determine the source of a broken lash before attempting to repair it. What causes one person's lashes to come out may be different from what causes another's. Keep your client in mind when determining how to effectively resolve the matter, and seek expert assistance if required! Getting Clients Back in the Chair with Minimal Fuss When clients notice their lashes falling out, they frequently freak out. It's your job as a lash artist to keep them calm and assure them that everything isn't as horrible as it appears. Here's what you can do to correct the situation and get them back in the chair: First, evaluate the circumstance. Is it only a few lashes that have fallen out, or is it a full-fledged problem?If it's only a few lashes, reassure your client that it's normal and offer to restore their lashes.When a client is finished with their extensions, remove all of the extensions from their lashes before removing any of their natural lashes. Otherwise, remove natural lashes first before removing extensions to ensure that nothing is left on the eye to cause infection.Before reusing any equipment used during the application and removal process, clean them with rubbing alcohol and lint-free cotton balls.When gluing down new extensions, use less adhesive than usual and be careful not to tug too hard.Leave the next set of extensions on for one week rather than two weeks to cause less damage over time. Because there is an increased chance of breakage, many eyelash extension procedures last longer if applied every two weeks. If your client's extensions have previously fallen out prematurely, you should wait three weeks between applications. The best things to do to give clients longer-lasting lashes If you want your eyelash extensions to last, here are things you can do: 1. Choose a good-quality lash adhesive. 2. Don't get them wet for the first 24 hours. 3. Be gentle when brushing them. 4. Use oil-free makeup removers. 5. Sleep on your back. 6. Avoid steam rooms and saunas. 7. Get them refilled every 7-10 days or as needed. 8. Apply mascara after they're applied. 9. Remove any excess glue that is visible around the edges of the lashes with acetone-based nail polish remover or petroleum jelly before placing them on your eyelid. 10. Keep lashes off of oily skin so they stay adhered to better during the application process. 11. Talk to your client about their lash goals and find out what kind of lash look they want. 12. Choose the right length and thickness of lashes for your client. 13. Be gentle when applying the lashes and avoid using much glue. 14. Let the glue dry completely before you continue. 15. Use a Lash Sealant after the lashes are applied to help th
em last longer. 16. Schedule a follow-up appointment with your client to check on their progress and touch up any areas that may need it. 17. Educate your clients on how to properly care for their lashes at home to keep them looking their best in between appointments! A great way to do this is by including instructions in the aftercare kit you provide to your clients. Tips on how clients can care for their eyelashes 1. Warm some coconut oil or olive oil and gently massage it into the top eyelid with your finger pads, allowing it to seep into the skin before wiping away excess. 2. At night, use an eye cream around the eyes, particularly one containing peptides, or collagen, so that it may be absorbed into skin cells. 3. Drink enough water every day because hydration helps maintain hair follicles, which can prevent lashes from falling out or thinning too quickly - consider adding fresh fruits like cucumbers or lemons to the water for nutrients! Conclusion There are a few things you can do to help your client's eyelashes fall out after receiving eyelash extensions. To begin, brush the lashes softly with a clean, dry mascara brush. If it doesn't work, you can try a lash serum or growth serum to stimulate new lash growth. Finally, double-check that you're using the correct sort of glue and application procedure for your client's particular lashes - if in doubt, see a specialist. Remember that each customer is unique, and no two sets of lashes will be identical, so figure out what works best for them!  Your client must learn how to care for their lashes after they leave the salon. Whether it's swimming with her eyes closed, avoiding touching her eyes at all when applying cosmetics, or washing her face before bedtime. The most important thing is to maintain those baby-soft, rich lashes and keep them looking lovely! I don't just mean in-salon upkeep; make sure your clients understand how to care for their lashes in between appointments. Most importantly, keep in mind that everyone's lashes grow differently, so it's always worth asking around in the beauty world to see what other pros have done. That way, we'll have a better understanding of how to deliver the finest service possible. You'll also need to consider the type of customer you want. Some people want exceptionally long but light lashes, while others prefer thicker but shorter lashes. Once you've determined what would work best for your customer, visit a specialist to determine which technique will work best for their demands and personal preferences! One of the main reasons people get lash extensions is that they want longer, fuller lashes. However, while this may be true for some consumers, you must also consider how much time she wants to spend thereafter caring for her lashes. For example, if someone spends five minutes applying mascara every day and another thirty minutes doing their eye makeup each morning, she will have spent around six hours simply caring for her lashes by the end of week one! So, whether it's going out and purchasing a decent drugstore mascara or consulting with a consultant on a solution like fake eyelashes, it's critical to consider your client's time commitments to maintain both theirs and yours up to date.
The Ins and Outs of Eyelash Loss: Causes, Care, and Confidence
Eyes are often referred to as the windows to the soul, and what frames these windows better than long, lush eyelashes? Eyelashes play an essential role in enhancing our eyes' beauty and protecting them from dust and debris. However, just like any other part of our body, eyelashes are also susceptible to issues, with eyelash loss being a common concern. In this blog, we'll dive into the various causes of eyelash loss, ways to care for your lashes, and how to maintain your confidence through it all.
Understanding Eyelash Loss
Eyelash loss, medically known as madarosis, can occur for a variety of reasons. It's essential to pinpoint the cause before seeking a suitable solution. Some of the common causes include:
Aging: Just like hair on the scalp, eyelashes can naturally thin out as we age. This is a normal part of the aging process and can't be entirely prevented.
Physical Trauma: Constant rubbing of the eyes or pulling on eyelashes due to makeup application or lash curlers can lead to damage and eventual loss.
Medical Conditions: Certain medical conditions like blepharitis (inflammation of the eyelids), thyroid disorders, and alopecia areata (an autoimmune disorder causing hair loss) can contribute to eyelash loss.
Chemotherapy: Cancer treatments, such as chemotherapy, can cause hair loss, including eyelashes. This is usually temporary, and lashes often grow back after treatment ends.
Nutritional Deficiencies: Inadequate intake of essential nutrients, particularly biotin, can affect hair growth, including eyelashes.
Skin Conditions: Skin conditions like eczema or psoriasis on the eyelids can lead to madarosis.
Allergic Reactions: Allergic reactions to makeup, mascara, or eyelash extensions can cause irritation and subsequent eyelash loss.
Caring for Your Eyelashes
Maintaining healthy eyelashes requires consistent care and some conscious habits. Here's what you can do:
Gentle Makeup Removal: When removing eye makeup, be gentle and use a mild makeup remover. Vigorous rubbing can damage your lashes.
Avoid Eyelash Extensions: While they may enhance your look temporarily, eyelash extensions can strain your natural lashes and lead to breakage if not applied and maintained properly.
Balanced Diet: Ensure you're consuming a balanced diet rich in vitamins and minerals essential for hair growth, such as biotin, vitamin E, and omega-3 fatty acids.
Proper Makeup Hygiene: Replace old mascara and eyeliner regularly to prevent bacterial buildup that could potentially lead to lash loss.
Be Cautious with Eyelash Curlers: If you use eyelash curlers, use them gently and avoid tugging on your lashes.
Boosting Confidence During Eyelash Loss
Experiencing eyelash loss can be emotionally challenging, as our appearance plays a significant role in our self-esteem. However, remember that your beauty goes far beyond physical attributes. Here's how you can maintain your confidence:
Focus on Inner Beauty: Remind yourself of your unique qualities, talents, and strengths that make you who you are beyond your appearance.
Experiment with Makeup: If you're comfortable, experiment with different makeup styles that accentuate other features, like your eyes or lips.
Lash Serums and False Lashes: If approved by a dermatologist, you can try lash serums that claim to promote lash growth. False lashes can also be a temporary solution for special occasions.
Seek Support: Talk to friends, family, or professionals about your feelings. Sometimes, sharing your concerns can help lighten the emotional burden.
Conclusion
Eyelash loss can be a challenging experience, but it's important to remember that it's a common issue with various underlying causes. By understanding these causes, adopting a proper care routine, and boosting your self-confidence, you can navigate through this phase with grace. How to Apply Eye Makeup: A Step-by-Step Guide for Stunning Eyes
Beautifully applied eye makeup can instantly enhance your features and make your eyes pop with allure. Whether you're a makeup novice or a seasoned enthusiast, mastering the art of eye makeup can be a game-changer in your beauty routine. In this comprehensive guide, we'll take you through the step-by-step process of applying eye makeup to achieve stunning and captivating eyes that will turn heads wherever you go.
Step 1: Prep and Prime
Before diving into the magical world of eye shadows and eyeliners, it's crucial to prepare your canvas properly. Start by cleansing your eyelids and applying a light eye cream to keep the delicate skin moisturized. Next, apply an eye primer; this will create a smooth base, enhance the vibrancy of your eyeshadows, and ensure they stay in place all day. Before apply eyeshadow, you should choose a eyeshadow tool. Airbrush is a good choice. This tool has pressurized technology to enhance the atomization function. It is easy to apply fluid eyeshadow.
Tumblr media
Step 2: Define Your Brows
Well-groomed eyebrows frame your eyes beautifully and bring attention to your eye makeup. Use an eyebrow pencil or powder to fill in any sparse areas, creating a natural arch that complements your face shape. Remember, when it comes to eyebrows, symmetry is key!
Step 3: Choose Your Eyeshadow Palette
Selecting the right eyeshadow palette is like picking colors for a masterpiece. Neutral shades like browns and taupes work great for everyday looks, while vibrant hues can add a touch of drama for special occasions. For beginners, a basic palette with a few matte and shimmer shades is an excellent starting point.
Step 4: Applying Eyeshadow
The key to seamless eyeshadow application is blending. Begin by applying a light, neutral shade on your entire eyelid as a base. Then, use a slightly darker shade to define your crease. Blend the colors well to avoid any harsh lines. For added depth, apply the darkest shade close to your lash line and blend it upwards. Remember, patience and practice are your best friends!
Step 5: Perfect the Eyeliner
Eyeliner adds definition and intensity to your eyes. You can choose between pencil, gel, or liquid eyeliner depending on your preferred look. For a classic and universally flattering style, create a thin line along your upper lash line, gradually thickening it towards the outer corner. You can wing it out slightly for a subtle cat-eye effect.
Step 6: Luscious Lashes
Mascara is a game-changer for elongating and volumizing your lashes. Curl your lashes first using an eyelash curler, then apply mascara in gentle, upward strokes. For added drama, consider applying a second coat or opting for false lashes.
Step 7: Conceal and Brighten
To make your eye makeup stand out even more, use a brightening concealer under your eyes to hide any dark circles or discoloration. This step will make your eyes appear more awake and vibrant.
Step 8: Finishing Touches
Complete your eye makeup by highlighting the inner corners of your eyes with a light, shimmery shade. This simple trick will make your eyes appear bigger and more radiant.
Conclusion
With the step-by-step guide above, applying eye makeup has never been easier. Experiment with different colors, techniques, and styles to find what suits you best. Remember, practice makes perfect, so don't be discouraged if your first attempts aren't flawless. Soon, you'll be able to create stunning eye makeup looks that accentuate your unique beauty and leave a lasting impression wherever you go. Happy experimenting and enjoy flaunting those mesmerizing eyes!
do fake eyelashes ruin your eyelashes?
Tumblr media
Are Fake Eyelashes Ruining Your Natural Lashes? Separating Fact from Fiction Are your natural lashes at risk of being ruined by fake eyelashes? It's a concern that has been circulating in the beauty industry for quite some time. With the growing popularity of false lashes, it's important to separate fact from fiction and understand the potential impact they can have on your natural lashes. In this article, we will delve into the truth behind this beauty myth and provide you with the information you need to make an informed decision. From debunking common misconceptions to exploring the proper care and maintenance of your lashes, we will uncover the real effects of fake eyelashes on your natural ones. So, if you're a lash lover or considering trying out falsies, keep reading to discover the truth and ensure your lashes stay healthy and beautiful. Understanding the Structure of Natural Eyelashes Before we dive into the potential impact of fake eyelashes on natural lashes, it's important to understand the structure of our natural lashes. Each eyelash is made up of three main parts: the hair follicle, the lash shaft, and the lash bulb. The hair follicle is the root of the lash, responsible for producing new lashes. The lash shaft is the visible part of the lash, and the lash bulb is the base where the lash attaches to the eyelid. Understanding this structure will help us better understand how fake eyelashes interact with our natural lashes. There is a common misconception that fake eyelashes can damage the hair follicles and prevent new lash growth. However, this is not entirely true. Fake eyelashes are designed to be applied to the lash shaft and do not come into direct contact with the hair follicle. Therefore, they do not interfere with the natural growth cycle of our lashes. It's important to note that if fake eyelashes are applied incorrectly or if the adhesive used is of poor quality, they can cause damage to the lash shaft, leading to breakage and potential lash loss. However, when applied and maintained properly, fake eyelashes can coexist with our natural lashes without causing any harm. Common Misconceptions about Fake Eyelashes There are several myths surrounding fake eyelashes that have contributed to the belief that they can ruin our natural lashes. One common misconception is that fake eyelashes make our natural lashes weaker and more prone to breakage. While it is true that excessive use of fake eyelashes can lead to lash breakage, this is not exclusive to fake lashes. Any type of lash extension or even excessive use of mascara can have the same effect if not applied and removed properly. It's not the fake lashes themselves that are causing the damage, but rather the improper use and removal of them. Another common myth is that fake eyelashes can cause permanent damage to our natural lashes. This is simply not true. Our natural lashes have a natural growth cycle, and they will continue to grow and shed regardless of whether we use fake lashes or not. The key is to ensure that we are applying and removing our fake lashes correctly to avoid any unnecessary damage. The Potential Damage Caused by Fake Eyelashes While fake eyelashes themselves may not cause permanent damage to our natural lashes, improper application, and removal can lead to temporary damage. If fake lashes are applied too close to the lash line or if too much adhesive is used, they can weigh down and strain our natural lashes, leading to breakage. Similarly, if fake lashes are not removed gently and with care, they can pull on our natural lashes and cause them to fall out prematurely. Another potential risk of using fake eyelashes is an allergic reaction to the adhesive. Some individuals may be sensitive to certain ingredients found in lash adhesives, which can lead to redness, itching, and irritation. It's important to perform a patch test before applying fake lashes to ensure that you're not allergic to the adhesive being used. To minimize the potential damage caused by fake eyelashes, it's essential to follow proper application and removal techniques. Applying lashes with precision, using a high-quality adhesive, and removing them gently are key to preserving the health of our natural lashes. How to Properly Apply and Remove Fake Eyelashes Proper application and removal of fake eyelashes are crucial to prevent any damage to our natural lashes. Here are some tips to ensure a safe and effective application and removal process: 1. **Prepare your natural lashes**: Before applying fake lashes, make sure your natural lashes are clean and free from any makeup or oils. This will ensure a better bond between the adhesive and your lashes. 2. **Trim the fake lashes**: Fake lashes are often longer than our natural lashes, so it's important to trim them to fit the length of your lash line. Cutting them from the outer corner will help maintain a natural look. 3. **Apply adhesive sparingly**: Use a high-quality lash adhesive and apply a thin, even layer along the lash band. Avoid applying adhesive directly to your natural lashes. 4. **Wait for the adhesive to become tacky**: After applying the adhesive, wait for about 30 seconds for it to become tacky. This will ensure a strong bond and prevent the lashes from sliding or lifting. 5. **Place the lashes close to the lash line**: Using tweezers or a lash applicator, gently press the fake lashes as close to your lash line as possible. Start from the outer corner and work your way inwards. 6. **Remove the lashes gently**: When it comes time to remove your fake lashes, be gentle and take your time. Start by loosening the outer corner of the lash band and gently peel it off, moving inwards. Avoid pulling or tugging on your natural lashes. By following these steps, you can minimize the potential damage to your natural lashes and enjoy the beauty and convenience of fake eyelashes. Tips for Maintaining Healthy Natural Lashes To ensure the health and longevity of your natural lashes, it's important to incorporate a few simple tips into your lash care routine: 1. **Be gentle**: Avoid rubbing or pulling on your lashes, whether you're applying makeup or removing it. Treat your lashes with care to prevent breakage. 2. **Avoid waterproof mascara**: Waterproof mascara can be difficult to remove and requires more rubbing and tugging, which can lead to lash breakage. Opt for a non-waterproof formula instead. 3. **Remove eye makeup gently**: When removing eye makeup, use a gentle makeup remover and a cotton pad or a soft cloth. Avoid harsh rubbing and tugging, as this can damage your lashes. 4. **Avoid excessive use of mascara**: While mascara can enhance the appearance of your natural lashes, excessive use can lead to clumping and breakage. Use mascara sparingly and remove it gently at the end of the day. 5. **Use a lash conditioner**: Consider incorporating a lash conditioner into your routine to nourish and strengthen your natural lashes. Look for one that is free from harsh chemicals and contains ingredients like biotin and peptides. By following these tips, you can maintain the health and strength of your natural lashes while enjoying the added beauty of fake eyelashes. Alternatives to Fake Eyelashes If you're concerned about the potential damage or maintenance required with fake eyelashes, there are alternative options to consider. One popular option is a lash lift and tint, which involves curling and tinting your natural lashes to create the appearance of longer and fuller lashes. Another alternative is lash serums, which are designed to promote lash growth and strength. These serums typically contain ingredients like peptides and vitamins that nourish the lashes and encourage healthy growth. Ultimately, the choice of whether to use fake eyelashes or explore alternatives is a personal one. It's important to consider your desired look, lifestyle, and commitment to maintenance before making a decision. Consulting with a professional lash technician or dermatologist can also provide valuable insight and guidance. Debunking Myths about Natural Eyelash Growth In addition to the misconceptions surrounding fake eyelashes, there are also myths about natural eyelash growth that need to be debunked. One common myth is that trimming your lashes will make them grow longer and thicker. The truth is that trimming your lashes does not affect their growth rate or thickness. Trimming can, however, help maintain a more polished and even appearance. Another myth is that applying castor oil or other oils to your lashes will make them grow longer. While these oils can moisturize and condition the lashes, there is limited scientific evidence to support their effectiveness in promoting lash growth. It's important to manage your expectations and seek professional advice when it comes to lash growth products and techniques. Professional Opinions on Fake Eyelashes To provide a well-rounded perspective on the impact of fake eyelashes, we reached out to professionals in the beauty industry. According to renowned lash technicians and dermatologists, when applied and removed correctly, fake eyelashes can be a safe and convenient way to enhance the appearance of your lashes. They emphasize the importance of using high-quality products and seeking professional guidance for application and removal techniques. These experts also highlight the need to allow your natural lashes to rest and recover between lash extension appointments to prevent any potential damage. Conclusion: Making Informed Decisions about Fake Eyelashes In conclusion, fake eyelashes can be a great way to enhance the beauty of your natural lashes when used correctly. The key is to prioritize proper application and removal techniques, use high-quality products, and give your natural lashes the care they deserve. By understanding the structure of your natural lashes, debunking common myths, and following expert advice, you can enjoy the stunning look of fake eyelashes without risking the health of your natural lashes. Remember, making informed decisions and taking the necessary precautions will ensure that your lashes stay healthy, beautiful, and ready to flutter. Read the full article
