Woah I’m mostly happy with these new designs. In my old design I wasn’t a huge fan of my Uranus design so he had the most drastic change, but you probably can see that most of the change was just in hair or slight alterations to outfits.

Summary: You hail from the icy tunnels of Jupiter’s smallest Galilean moon, Europa, and have, since being brought to planet Earth, engaged in a relationship with one Mark Grayson.

You spend most of your days in a hot tub that’s been placed in your quarters at the Guardians Headquarters in Utah. Long hours are spent with you soaking in the steaming water, turning the bluish tint to your skin a flushed violet from the heat—a previously foreign concept to you.

The icy tunnels and caverns that make up your home are a distant memory here on Earth, no longer scorching the hardened skin of your soles or burning your patterned skin. No, Jupiter’s Europa seems a faraway dream, swapped for the leisurely days you spend on Earth.

Mark kneels by the side of your tub, running a soapy rag across the smooth skin of your legs.

“You’re kind of like a killer whale,” he murmurs in admiration. Your skin is smooth, smoother than that of a human, and constantly moist. “Or a mermaid maybe, but with legs.”

Legs, yes. Optimal for diving into the water below the icy crust, filtering through the relatively warmer water with your webbed extremities for hours until your strong lungs burn for more oxygen than what you can take in through your skin and gills.

It had been an accident. A practice fight between Invincible and Allen had broken them through the surface and crashed them into the icy currents below, and in the dark, you’d mistaken them for food—only to find out that you were no longer the only apex predator present.

Which brings you to where you are now, lavishly splayed out in a tub of borderline boiling water. It burns in a way you’ve never experienced prior to Earth, previously having relied on your thick skin and the dense layer of muscle underneath to keep you warm. Your eyes—pitch black, the sclera rarely visible—blink open to stare up at Mark, their size deceptively large as they blend in with the black markings around your eyes.

Mark is your monogamous life-partner. He’d clumsily explained to you the concepts of a life-partner (boyfriend) and of binding contracts (marriages) that seem to dominate humans’ approach to sexual relationships. A foreign concept to you, but one you enjoy very much. You like having Mark to yourself, even if his skin is hairy and dry, if his irises are eerily small, and if his digits are long and agile with no webbing in between them whatsoever.

Well, all humans look like that, you suppose. Still, you struggle to get used to their appearance, much like a human might struggle to not shiver at a large spider.

Back home on Europa, your kind (an ancient name that humans can’t pronounce—closer to a musical note than to an actual word) live as polygamous creatures to ensure the survival of your species. On Earth, survival is much easier, thus emphasizing the importance of companionship and emotional connection.

“In water,” you murmur, reaching up to tug on Mark’s sleeve. “Join.”

English doesn’t come easy to you, but you’re a devoted learner (and Mark is an eager teacher).

“I won’t fit,” Mark laughs softly, running the rag up your strong, finned leg. “This is just for you.”

You shake your head, tugging again.

“Mark. Join.”

A string of soft-spoken words in your native language leave your lips and you smile, awkwardly baring two rows of interlocking, conical teeth.

“Baby,” he laughs softly. He likes calling you that, and even if you don’t see the point in the pet name (you have a perfectly good name, even if he struggles to pronounce it), you enjoy the sound of his tender voice. In moments like these, you’re thankful for your ears being able to capture the sound waves in the air. They’re just little holes in your skin, after all, hidden by large white spots just behind your eyes.

“Please,” you murmur, surprising yourself by your mildness.

He gives you a look before sighing and shrugging off his shirt, revealing more of the pinkish human skin you’ve grown so accustomed to lately. After undressing, he crawls over the edge of the tub and squeezes down between your legs.

“You take up quite a bit of space, y’know,” he chuckles, settling his warm hands on both your knees.

“Stronger,” you respond confidently, though you’re not sure it’s actually true. You’re physically larger than Mark, yes, built to withstand higher pressure and lower temperatures, but you’ve seen what he can do.

“Very,” he says with a warm smile, running his hands up your thighs.

“Kiss,” you speak softly, almost shy at your own request. Heavy petting for mating is a concept that transcends cultures, yet kissing is something that doesn’t quite exist where you’re from.

“As you wish,” Mark laughs softly, leaning in over you to plant a soft kiss on your split-colored lips. One of his hands rests on the bottom of the tub, submerged in the water to stabilize his weight, while the other comes up to cup your smooth jaw. He parts your lips with his, capturing your bottom lip with a playful nip.

Your top lip curls back in a snarl instinctually, though you quickly suppress the panic arising in you. Recognizing that Mark still won’t harm you, you relax your jaw as you lean into the kiss. A quiet exhale leaves you as you sink into the water, Mark following suit. Tentatively, you lick into Mark’s mouth like he’s done to you many times, your rib-edged pink muscle brushing against his own, smaller tongue.

Long, flat fingers run up his neck, awkwardly sliding across his scalp. You can’t run your fingers through his hair like you’ve seen in the movies he’s shown you, the webbing between your digits proving to be an obstacle. You bare your teeth in another awkward but sweet smile before pressing a wet kiss to the tip of his nose (oftentimes you wonder how humans kiss each other comfortably when their noses are as protruding as they are—unlike your kind’s blunt snouts).

He laughs softly, pressing another kiss back at your snout. Mark doesn’t mind your oddities. If anything, he finds them endearing.

It must run in the family, he thinks with a warm smile.

The lack of Neptune material is an absolute travesty.

You're telling me, the Roman version of Poseidon, does not even get an appearance???

I shall now take upon myself to remedy this.

So

Neptune headcanons:

He's not as volatile as Poseidon. he doesn't get angry or insulted as easily either, but this does not mean he will not respond to you blatantly insulting him. There will be consequences to it.

He is arguably more possessive than Poseidon, especially when it comes to his offspring. He's incredibly controlling of his children's lives, often to a damaging degree. If the phrase "helicopter parent" had a personification, it would be this dude.

He does not give a fuck whether a child is his or from his counterpart. You are his no matter what you say, no, you are not escaping from him either.

To add to the last point, this man was seething when he found out Percy was at camp Jupiter, for the sheer factor of not being able to claim him. He went absolutely batshit crazy on Hera after that. He spent 80 YEARS not having a child, and the second he found out that he does it was ripped away from him.

He doesn't really use a human form. He just can't be bothered with it, why would he? He's just gonna appear to people as a humanoid blob of water and temporarily sends them to the underworld. He unironically throws water on his kids as a form of affection.

Percy both loves him and is scared of him. Neptune is completely unaware of this and just keeps grinning at Percy with his monstrous-looking ass teeth. Percy spends five days asking Poseidon if he has them too after that. (He does, not that he tells Percy, but he does.)

Neptune actually has a decent relationship with his brother, Jupiter. Jupiter regularly visits his brother and they gossip about their Greek sides.

So here's a lil an I'm working on! It's a crossover between hesitant alien, Ziggy stardust (David Bowie), crybaby (Melanie Martinez) (character has been removed) and demolition widow, my killjoys persona!

Au info: in this au Gerard is named hesitant (Ik it sound weird but trust the process ok, I have more stuff coming out soon 😿), and is the same species as widow. VERY IMPORTANT: i DO make altercations to world history in this au, why? For the sake of a British accent, am I implying it is true or preaching it to be believed unironically? ABSOLUTELY NOT‼️‼️*said altercations will be talked abt in future posts covering (edit: nvm I let go of this idea 💀)

More information about my toughts and hcs on Ceres after the cut!

I like their character a lot! Ever since their first appearence in the show I've been wanting to see more of them, how he interacts with the other characters and all that!

Ceres has also been my favorite swarf planet for a long time, ever since I learned about their existence, actually. I honestly find their situation kinda worse than Pluto's, because he was classified as a planet, then demoted to an asteroid!!! And only became a dwarf planet because of Pluto and Eris.

Now to headcanons:

-Has been isolated in the asteroid belt for a long time. In the past, Proto, Pallas and Vesta used to be Ceres' friends, with Proto visinting the asteroid belt a lot in the past(especially since he didn't really care abot life), and Pallas and Vesta since be sentient asteroids. But after Pallas and Vesta went dormant and the collision happened, Ceres was left alone.

-Since they were alone for so long, they didn't really have to talk to anyone. So their voice is rough from lack of use!

-Sun, Theia, Proto and Jupiter were the only ones that knew about Ceres outside of the asteroid belt. Only Proto actually talked to them, though.

-The asteroid belt is the division between the inner system and the outer system, but Ceres believes to be a part of the inner system! Especially because they are wary of Jupiter. But does not leave the belt to visit the imner system because of the big shiny light that throws solarflares when mad.

-Was very happy when Mars visited, but being alone for so long does not hone your social skills. Threw the asteroid back to Mars in hopes that by being nice he would come back! And maybe bring his friends next time.

-Believes that Proto(Earth) cannot visit them because of Theia(Luna), since in the past she would try to keep the rockies in their orbits and away from asteroids to develop... something Ceres can't remember.

-Thinks of Charon like a big sister! Not really aware why Pluto does not seem to like them, though.

-Still would like to know more about the inner system, anyways. And the moons that they met at the moon revolution (Callisto and Io)

Now about their humanoid design.

- Long and slightly messy hair, since they haven't cut it for a long time.

-In all my drawings, I try to give them a necklace to signify what they irbit, it usually can't be taken off, but is not indestructible. Ceres' broke off a long time ago, and that is a problem, since a planet could just go and claim Ceres by putting their own necklace on them. Charon requested a new one for them!

-Their clothing is made of asteroids, as other materials come from Earth and are also usually requested, and Ceres did not have a messenger nor would risk the wrath of the Fire Ball.

I have a lot of aus with Ceres on them!! I like them very much.

Wuxing – the connections between the Five Dragon Kings (Ref) and the Five Elements philosophy 

To better understand the origins of the Five Dragon Kings and the ancient Chinese legend, it is worth mentioning the wuxing of natural philosophy, which states that all things are composed of five elements: fire, water, wood, metal and earth.

The underlying idea is that the five elements 'influence each other, and that through their birth and death, heaven and earth change and circulate'.  

The five elements are described as followed:

Wood/Spring: a period of growth, which generates abundant vitality, movement and wind.

Fire/Summer: a period of swelling, flowering, expanding with heat.

Earth is associated with ripening of grains in the yellow fields of late summer.

Metal/Autumn: a period of harvesting, collecting and dryness.

Water/Winter: a period of retreat, stillness, contracting and coolness.

The wuxing system, in use since the Han dynasty (2nd century BCE), appears in many seemingly disparate fields of early Chinese thought, including music, feng shui, alchemy, astrology, martial arts, military strategy, I Ching divination, and traditional medicine, serving as a metaphysics based on cosmic analogy.

The wuxing originally referred to the five major planets (Jupiter, Saturn, Mercury, Mars and Venus), which were thought of as the five forces that create life on earth. Wu Xing litterally means moving star and describes the five types of Qi (all the vital substances) cycles through various stages of transformation. As yin and yang continuously adjust to one another and transform into one another in a never-ending dance of harmony, they tend to do so in a predictable pattern.

The lists of correlations for the five elements are diverse, but there are two cycles explaining the major interaction. The yin-yang interaction, which by increasing or decreasing the qualities and functions associated with a particular phase, it may either nourish a phase that is in deficiency or drain a phase that is in excess or restrain a phase that is exerting too much influence (see below):

The Huainanzi (2nd BCE) describes the five colored dragons (azure/green, red, white, black, yellow) and their associations (Chapter 4: Terrestrial Forms), as well as the placement of sacred beasts in the five directions (the Four Symbols beasts, dragon, tiger, bird, tortoise in the four cardinal directions and the yellow dragon.

Jupiter!! Specifically from the what if planets are ordered by size because I liked the idea of translating what he would look like becaus of it. So he has Uranus earmuffs for warmth since he’s the furthest and a cloak ment to keep himself warm :D + Guillermo therapy session

yes… more space critter Alaska… unfortunately I have taken a big liking towards this thang, I do have other fantasy ideas for the other states tho! And I promise I’ll get back to the regular Table stuff! For now more Alaska 🐶 I’ll explain my thoughts behind his design too! Warning tho, it’s a lot of words down there

Basically, the whole reason he’s space-based is because of his flag, being the only one that’s a constellation and nothing more visually (albeit symbolism and a story behind it), as well as two of his state nicknames; land of the midnight sun and land of the midday moon!

He’s also heavily inspired off of Saturn, particularly because of his Birthday (Jan 3rd) & capricorns being presented with Saturn (not I don’t believe in astrology or anything, I just think the references are cool); tho I dunno how to really incorporate the rings into his design 🤔

he’s also inspired off of cosmic/nebula dust, because Alaska’s flag and the stars n all, nebulas are where stars are born! It’s mostly his… mane, thing?? That’s the dust, that’s why he’s got stars up in there!

The tail is supposed to be referenced to auroras, because well it’s Alaska, and also because Saturn has auroras too! It’s why it’s long and also drapey

He’s actually also big inspired off of birds too! Thanks to @keepbirdieweird I used nightjars for inspiration specially for his head shape :)

His “ears”, the tufts that look like ears aren’t ears! They’re akin to bird ear-tufts, so they don’t move nor really contribute to Alaska’s hearing or showing off emotions or signals

Other bird things is that of his limbs, specially his legs. And also he’s actually more so feathery than fur fluffy I’d say? So he doesn’t really have a mane, I think it’d be technically referred to as a neck ruff? I’m not sure!

His coloring I also just decided recently could be inspired off of Saturn’s colors maybe (or even on of it’s moons or their rings) 🤔

He’s also one of the more,, animalistic or heavily animal based designs even in a humanoid form, because well it’s Alaska. I just think he likes his animal attributes a lot

Because Saturn and Jupiter inspirations, gas giants and all, Alaska is actually much more able to be bigger in the fantasy au and still be comfortable! Lots of mass indeed, but not dense due to gas giant things, so he floats around much of the time

Alaska does not have a skeleton. Think like the cores of Saturn and Jupiter, that’s basically what goes on in him! And thanks to nuclear fusion, he can control his temps and therefore can get real hot and bright

His markings are inspired off of Alaska malamutes (particularly his face) because again: Alaska

So basically: Alaska is like a sentient cosmic cloud thing and we love him in this house

Dragalia's Knights of Glory art

Now, it's been gone over how Dragalia Lost actually used quite a bit of inspiration from one of Cygames' previous works, Knights of Glory, for anything from character designs to dragons.

Of course, this showed up quite literally with characters like Lea when they quite literally just had the "Knights of Glory" showcase, but it also showed up in characters ranging from Jakob to Mikoto to Jurota (also showcasing the alighting butterfly blade, also in Dragalia):

However funny it is to see who we came to know as different characters in a different media, though, the dragons are 10x funnier to look at.

You see, it seemed that Knights of Glory had a certain 'evolution system' to dragons, where they'd develop and grow more fancy, if they weren't inexplicably transforming into an attractive humanoid woman because of course-

And oh boy, we can kinda see alternative evolutionary paths for the Greatwyrms.

There's Midgardsormr, who seems to most closely resemble the fully evolved form from the start...(he also gained an element, as this dragon line apparently has no element!)

Mercury, who is in her middle phase:

...Brunhilda? Not very sure on this one. She might just be a new design, but here's my best guess for what dragon they might have been inspired from:

Jupiter, whom I'd almost put in his middle stage for closeness of design:

Last but not least, poor Zodiark, who really got hammered with the skeletal dragon design and is also in his middle stage and is also drooling 24/7:

Where is his stomach? Where are his organs? Why is he bipedal?? He lost some bulk in his transition to Dragalia, too. Honestly, I like Dragalia Zodiark more than his inspiration here.

Speaking of, quite a few of the dragons were actually repurposed into bosses, as with Satan above, like everyone's favorite:

bweirdoctober day 6: past

some more old art, but here's how the planets more-or-less looked like when they were younger! only thing that i might change is neptune's color scheme (since it was proven that neptune actually isnt a deep blue, but instead has a more similar color to uranus lol).

the young solar system was fairly violent, with millions of rocks trying to survive and grow. young planet personifications start out as shapeless masses of energy. when they get big enough, they may turn into some sort of creature or animal. those that get the biggest will eventually turn into humanoids.

some basics on how they were like when they were kids:

Mercury: He was bullied a lot by the other planetesimals around him, and eventually looked for safety in Sol's arms

Venus: Was much sweeter when she was younger, with her atmosphere not being as toxic and crushing. Had the potential for life as well, which she was really excited about.

Earth: Was always an experimental lil scientist, somehow creating life from their toxic, superheated world. Would eventually cool down, but right now they're all fired up!

Mars: Also had water. He often fought with other planetesimals and made a mess whenever he went. Had a rivalry w Jupiter. Venus, Earth, and Mars all became fast friends, and have been bffs for billions of years.

Jupiter: The big bully on the playground, he disliked the other planets and would shoved his weight around. Had the biggest crush on Sol, which made him want to orbit closer to him.

Saturn: Similar to how he is nowadays, but less jaded. He tried his best to control Jupiter and prevent him from orbiting inwards and killing the other planets.

Uranus: A sociable sweetheart! A collision that knocked him on his side would turn him into the emotionless man he is nowadays.

Neptune: Was always fairly nervous. Relied on Uranus a lot. Wasn't a big fan of the solar system and was always this close to leaving it entirely, with Uranus being the only thing keeping him around.
