I've seen quite a bit of discourse over the girls' sexualities and my two cents for Rumi? She's on the ace spectrum if y'all want my two cents.

Rumi doesn't show half as much interest in boys as Mira and Zoey. The only person she has some kind of response to in the male side of things is Jinu and even then there's no proper mention of her being solely interested in his looks. What she's into is the archetype of the male lead. Him appearing from behind his friends looking fresh. Him helping her when she's in trouble.

Rumi doesn't want Jinu because he's a dude she likes him because he helps her, because he's someone who understands her. She literally does a whole song about how she feels that they can help each other be better.

That's what Rumi is into. Emotional connection. Whatever bit she is attracted to his looks doesn't discredit her being very ace-spec coded. Polytrix doesn't discredit that either. Because the girls have such a deep connection with each other.

Rumi's basic need is to be loved, she hardly cares whether it's Jinu or Celine or the girls. She wants all of them to love and accept her. Yeah I clocked how after Jinu pushed her away she immediately went to Celine.

It was because her first choice, the girls, the family she found for herself didn't accept her. That was what part of all of this was about wasn't it? Fixing herself so the girls wouldn't hate her, so they could be the perfect trio together.

Jinu and Rumi sweet as it is isn't my otp for a lot of reasons. But one of the main things is that Jinu was the product of Rumi concealing herself, she only went to him because she had no one else to relate to or felt like that. The girls themselves would have understood, the reason they uphold such strong believes is in huge part thanks to what Rumi preaches. I'm sure if they were given the opportunity to just venture out and understand demons they would have understood Gwi-ma's bs.

Anyways my point it Jinu spent majority of the movie manipulating her and lying to her and I would rather see that man actually do something with himself other than bring down a baddie polycule. (Not Jinu hate he's funny af but I just like my girls better)

Rumi's allowed to just be queer too, just because she likes certain people doesn't mean she immediately needs to be boxed in. She can have liked Jinu and then be into girls romantically, it's all possible.

Huntrix

First and foremost, they'd need to distract you from seeing the weapons in their hands and the demon itself. It's probably the smoothest thing though, and you won't ever see it 'cause they're literally doing it behind your back.

Rumi Chronic Pain Headcanons

Rumi’s patterns ache regularly, especially when her shame is the worst but sometimes for seemingly no reason.

The pain ranges from a sharp sting to a deep ache that reaches the bone.

At it's worst, it's all the patterns but sometimes it can be in a specific place, often correlating with an insecurity.

It’s been there for as long as she can remember and just like hiding her patterns, she also tries to hide the fact that she’s in pain.

She believed that she ‘deserved it’ for being a mistake.

She developed a high pain tolerance and while fighting demons she’d miss that she’s been injured until Mira or Zoey pointed it out.

After accepting herself at the end of the movie it doesn’t happen as often but it doesn’t entirely go away.

Going to the bathhouse becomes her favourite way to relax and to relieve the pain both because the heat soothes her and because being with her friends is a good distraction.

Admitting that she’s in pain is quite hard for her.

Mira is the fastest to notice and will always ask if she’s okay and will bring her honey and ginger tea even when Rumi tries to brush her off.

She discovers that the pain is relieved when someone touches them. Massages, especially in the highest pain areas, are really soothing.

Zoey uses this as an excuse to hug Rumi even more.

Opening up to Celine is the hardest. Rumi finds it hard to comprehend that Celine never noticed the pain throughout her whole childhood. Or did she also think that she deserved it?

On the worst pain days Mira and Zoey make her sit out dance rehearsals to focus on herself. Sometimes they all skip and have a bathhouse or couch day.

Bobby being the chillest manager ever is obviously fine about this. In general, he becomes an awesome advocate for her, along with Mira and Zoey, when she struggles to ask for accomidations.

Once she gets more comfortable with the concept she starts to open up on talk shows and advocate for disability awareness.

“rumi too,” says mira in a small voice, and so rumi turns off the light and climbs in as well, and mira falls asleep happy in her family’s arms, like she’s always wanted.

Zoey always reaches for her hands when she's anxious. When she's not it's their shoulder or just leaning but when she's anxious or overexcited (our brain can't tell the difference between anxiety and excitement) it's hands time.

It takes them a little while to realize that whenever Zoey reluctantly reaches towards their hands or looks down at their hands for too long she feels overwhelmed and wants physical support. But once they do, they start looking out for it.

On stage or during a fanmeet Zoey's signing stuff and interacting with fans but Rumi notices her non signing hand dangling near her (left because we have confirmation that she's right handed) she switches her writing hand (she's ambidextrous I hc) and grabs Zoey's hand casually. Rumi waits until she visually relaxes before continuing with her signing. They hold their hands under the table for the whole duration.

When in public where things get overwhelming or when they're doing press signs and stuff Zoey sometimes get handed the mic to speak and Mira watches her like a hawk while Rumi works the crowd to see if she needs someone. If she does, no matter how improper it may look she either holds out her arm for Zoey to loop her own arm in or grabs Zoey's hand and rubs her thumb over it soothingly.

Zoey sometimes feels like she's being too much so she doesn't ask them but the girls are always watching because there's no shame in needing people, anxiety is a bitch after all and they will pummel anyone who belittles Zoey or points out that she needs someone to hold her hand.

i think zoey's neurodivergent too, not me projecting at all its just there.

the divorce arc would also make sense for her feeling never enough because no matter whose side she picks she can't catch a break. we see a glimpse of that when she's struggling to choose between accepting Rumi or not. (it's really subtle but I love how that with Zoey they make it a lot more clear that she's just mad about the lying not the demonness necessarily)

I totally agree with the gifted kid track too, just feels right for Zoey because her rhyme game goes really hard amongst other things

She's also (at least I think so) neurodivergent and is afraid she comes off as "too much" so I wonder if she blames herself for putting strain on her parent's relationship?
