Tighnari kept staring at his friend, not knowing what to say next. The situation wasn't that complicated, he just had to complete a dare...

[FLASHBACK TO 30 MINUTES PRIOR]

"Cyno, I'm absolutely exhausted... I yield, please show some mercy!" The fennec fox pleaded, his tail thumping nervously on the floor. It was the 10th match of Genius Invokation TCG he played with Cyno, and the 10th match he lost. He really needed a change.

It was in that moment that Cyno proposed a few rounds of truth or dare, just to get to know each other even better and have a good laugh together. Tighnari wasn't too fond of the idea, but he was desperate to stop playing TCG enough to accept without hesitation.

Things seemed to go pretty smoothly for a while... until the fox picked "truth" and a much-dreaded question came.

"Are you ticklish?"

The poor Amurta graduate tried to change topic by immediately switching to a dare, but Cyno was too cunning, too curious and most importantly too mischievous to let go such a fundamental topic that easily, which is why he chose a very specific dare for his friend: "I dare you to raise your arms for five minutes straight, so that I can get the answer to thw question I asked you by myself."

And there Tighnari was, undecided about what to do. Stop playing? Cyno would ambush him. Answer the question? Cyno would use that info immediately, just to verify, obviously... Raise his arms? A literal death sentence, unless he managed to hold back his laughter.

He decided to risk it all and go with the third option, hoping that his friend would get bored by the lack of reaction, so he raised his arms all the way above his head, exposing his torso. There was no way that a forest ranger like him wouldn't be able to handle a little tickle, right?

Oh how wrong he was...

The moment Cyno's hands came in contact with his sides, he wanted to crawl out of his skin and screech. He'd never realized that those fingers were so nimble, strong and gracefully merciless.

"Hm- hmpfff-!" A few sounds came out and didn't go unnoticed by the General Mahamatra, who somehow seemed to know how to make this whole ordeal as unbearable as possible.

"Come on... laugh a little more, I don't understand if you're ticklish or not" Cyno purred, clearly in his element whenever it came to annoy Tighnari. "Am I hurting you? Do you need me to stop..?"

The black-haired guy felt the immediate  need to reassure his friend, so he muttered a quick "N-no..."

If only he could've seen Cyno's ominous smirk when he gave that answer...

"Oh well, if you don't  need me to stop, I don't see why I should~"

"Nononono Cyno be reasonable, d-don't do anything dumb you'll regr- AAAAAEEHHH-!" The unlucky fennec fox didn't even have the time to protest when ten mischievous fingers reached his lower back, right at the base of his tail.

"HAHAHAHAHA CYNO PLEASEEE MOVE ALREHEHEHEADYYY!" He scream-laughed on top of his lungs, trying to crawl away... only to have the General Mahamatra sit on the back of his knees to keep him pinned to the ground.

"I am already moving, Nari." The white-haired guy stated as if it was obvious, "Don't you feel my fingers move right here?" He poked the area he was targeting just to enjoy the squeals of his friend, "Should I move a little faster?" He didn't even wait for an answer, he started scribbling all over the sensitive area at full speed, hoping that no one would come after hearing the glass-piercing screech made by the forest ranger.

After a while, he decided to show some "mercy" and change spots, targeting Tighnari's palms, where he had smooth, soft pads like foxes have. Is it really mercy if the second spot is worse than the first one, though? It was no secret that Tighnari never let anyone touch his pads, due to their sensitivity, and he was right to do so, because the lightest, softest caress had him in tears, to the point that Cyno decided to have actual mercy and stop the assault.

The Spantamad graduate gave his friend a minute to recover, then he scooped him up in his arms and gave him some needed ear and scalp scritches, which never failed to make the dark-haired guy melt.

"I guess my question has found a certain answer," Cyno stated after a few minutes, "you are deadly ticklish... too much for your own good." He concluded, chuckling at the irritated thump that Tighnari's tail made.

Another five minutes passed, and both friends were absolutely relaxed when the fennec fox's eyes fluttered open, gazing at his friend's peaceful features.

"Hey Cyno, can I ask you something?" Tighnari asked while wrapping his arms around the General Mahamatra. "Sure, go ahead." The white-haired guy replied without even bothering to open his eyes, feeling completely safe where he was.

"Are you ticklish?"

I'm sure there's like this one goat in Jackson that simply loves Joel. It's Joel's biggest fan. Whenever it sees Joel, it immediately screams and runs to him.

And if it's a female goat and it has a baby, Tommy will 100% name the baby goat Joel.

I'm sure Joel would name this goat something over thw top like "Baaaron". But really, everyone in town just calls the goat "Joel's Little Buddy" or "Joel Jr." because they all know how much the two love each other.

Every time Joel walks by, Baaaron drops whatever he's doing (which is probably just eating some grass or freaking out kids) and comes bounding over to Joel, bleating loudly and wagging his little goatie tail. He leaps all over Joel like he's the goat version of an overexcited dog meeting its owner. Joel just laughs and pets the silly thing, smooching him right between the horns.

He'd always have goat treats to give his buddy. They're the talk of the town—Joel, the gentle farmer, and his pet goat that loves him more than individual liberty. I bet if Baaaron ever got lost, the whole town would know exactly who to call to find it. "Quick, find Joel! His precious baby goat got loose again!"

I'm sure Joel will end up writing a country song about it someday.

I kept it soft, I feel like she likes winding down with friends or MC instead of alone, so she'd just listen to whatevers kn. But if she did have a choice, she'd keep it soft like this stuff. Also I see her as a hopeless romantic so I put lots of laufey, also I kept it short because on her own I think she'd be more picky with her music, as well as the fact that I think she's rlly like too busy to listen to music on her own much so she's just kinda like 'well I have all my favorites why make it any longer'. I also think she would enjoy her friends more alternative tastes, so she thinks abt makinf a playlist but just ends up savinf the others playlists cuz she procrastinates it too much.... Felix!!!! I feel like when I see Felix playlists they're like never goth? I put some romanticy/sexual songs because he's both a hopeless romantic and a freak. I can also see him having like a thousand playlists and listening to just generally alternative music(cant see him being basic at all because he just isnt) I can also see him listening to like moodier classical music I just am not abt to makw a classical music playlist. I might make more for him, I can see him listening to musicals(any dracula, jeckyl and hyde if thats hpw u spell it idk, stuff like tgat) and more theatrical stuff, like I DONT KNOW HOW BUT THEY FOUND ME and likeeee bearghost, sunday driver, aurelio voltaire, and things of that nature

Sage!!!! I imagins him listwning to like rocker dad music and nu metal(so thats what pretty much the whole playlist is..) I also see him listening to rap and like hip-hop and like general club or party music. Though I think he'd have maybe a couple other playlists of that stuff, and idk if this is me projecting but I think he'd start a playlist with a certain idea but like be too lazy to search songs so he just uses the reccomended stuff...so by the end of the playlist making its four hours long and he's jusr kinda like 'well shit I dont know half these songs' and the original point has been lost so its just all the music he likes(kinda what I did for this but I know all of the bands, jusf dont listen to them much or dont like the skng much+taking into account what he'd like) also I see modern au sage as like a bit of a punk. Rime!! Plus the last playlist. A lot of the time playlists for him seem kinda just like whatever freaky music the person knows? Which isnt bad I just dont rlly see him listening to only that, I also cant see him listening to music made by men very odten idk why...I also think that he likes to match the chaos of whayever going on in his head with the music, so irs all pretty loud(and unintentional but lots of riot girl). I think he'd also have maybe not as many as felix but a few more playlists as well. I think he'd also listen to general alternative music and somw more popular stuff depending on how quick it is(he also for sure has anisas playlist saved if he wants a quick little shameful crying session idk...I see it in my head...) (ive been very inactive i apologise..)

i cannot fathom how angrynthe whole blitz n stolas thing is making me.. ppl hating on both sides but they r both in the wrong??? stolas saying hes never looked down on him when he HAS. has bro forgot the entirity of season 1?? stolas constantly called him his 'little imp' or his 'little plaything', and never really took him seriously. blitz could see that as mocking. but even then stolas's nickname for blitz is blitzy and he uses it infront of striker implying its a petname not that hes mocking blitz. in the first pilot ep he says along thw lines u do ur job and ill do mine. the whole deal was that in order for blitz to keep using the book was for him to have sex w stolas. so idk... another thing about the book. i think it was his only excuse to keep seeing stolas which is why he begged and begged for it. saying he NEEDS the book. he was about to apologise and you CAN HEAR IT "stolas, wait, im s-" AND THEN HE GETS TELEPORTED OUT... YOU COULD SEE HIM REACHING FOR HIS ROBE.. the fact their argument was where the crystal thing was and its when everything started. . . in an episode when stolas is laying down in the bed and blitz is crawling over to him he eyes the book as its the reason why he was doing it. in apology tour he pushes the book out of the way and is only looking at stolas !>!@>?!?!!@?! he doesnt care ab the book he cares ab STOLAS they both said what they needed to say but i dont think either of them fully took it in. stolas shpuldve let blitz talk but HE DIDNT.. in apology tour you can see his expression change whenever he looks at stolas and it BREAKS ME. and blitz apologises to verosika i think she actually forgave him. instead of calling him blitz-O she just calls him blitz which might imply a friendship or acquaintance in the future.. she gave him cake and left n i think she realised blitz is his own biggest hater. iv3 kinned blitz since the beginning tho i rlly liked moxxie.. silly guy stolas has complete right to be mad at blitz because he cant keep giving himself to someone who wont hear him out. but i beleive when blitz realises he loves him itll be too late. blitz is harder to understand and sympathise for because he lashes out and gets upset by anger. it def has to do with his self hatred. notice how when stolas mentions anything about him leaving blitz splits and starts freaking out. he def has abandoment issues or bpd.. i think him n verosika is a reason why hes too scared to actually commit to another relationship.

they NEED to short shit out and have a gen talk or their situationship will go nowhere. it pains me knowing how bad they both struggle. in apology tour when blitz starts looking at him with a guilty look he sees stolas as his depressed and alcoholic self. and even when the guy asked to dance HE STILL LOOKED AT BLITZ FOR APPROVAL. i dont get why ppl hate on stolas for making out w a guy drunk when blitz did the same thing?? when they are walking down the hall stolas had covered every family photo except for leaving a space for where octavia was and rhat broke me... blitz doesnt believe anyone could actually love him. let alone a prince. and he says this multiple times but i dont think stolas really hears him. their trope is that stolas fell too early and blitz fell too late owls only fall in love once and he's pinged on him since they were kids LIKE ?!!?!?!? if stolas found out that he was bought to spend the day w him i think he'd distance himself even more. i need blitz to break down in stolas's arms like js something. im beginning to believe blitz does feel remorse for his actions and actually starts to feel bad ab what hes done. ghgghghhg this relationship makes me wanna rip my hair out and scream and roll on the floor (I mightve missed some things but this will conclude my rant)

Ya girl's been SICK this week (my first time getting Covid, yaaaay), which sucked, but it did mean I finally had the time to properly binge the How to Train Your Dragon movies for the first time since The Hidden World released. I've never actually sat down and watched all three films back-to-back before, even though this was THE film franchise of my teenage years. But having finally done so, I have Thoughts™.

First movie is still arguably the best of the three, if only because it's an entirely self-contained narrative. The script is really tight and focused, and the whole thing is really well-paced. The animation actually looks way better than I remembered, but that might just be because this was my first time watching it on Blu-Ray instead of digital.

First movie also still has the best soundtrack of the three (which is saying a lot, considering John Powell was absolutely COOKING with all three movies). "Test Drive" is just too iconic to be outdone.

I really like Astrid's character arc in the first movie. I normally don't like tough-as-nails girlboss characters because they're so often one-dimensional and boring, but she works really well for me because her girboss-ness is as much a flaw as it is a strength. While she is athletic and competitive in her own nature, she's also under a lot of pressure to be a tough warrior, since that's what her society values. I love the way Hiccup brings out her softer side, how he shows her through Toothless that it's ok to be gentle, that compassion is a strength in its own right. I love the way she in turn becomes his pillar of support and comfort. Somehow I'd forgotten just how good Hiccstrid really is.

It's weird re-watching the second film as an adult, because I can still clearly remember a time when it was just the coolest thing ever. The second film was really what sold me on the series as a whole, to be honest. Like, don't get me wrong, I always loved the first one, but the second is where I really started getting into the worldbuilding and characters.

So it's weird to come back to it now and find out it's....actually the weakest of the three films (in my opinion, anyways). I can't quite put my finger on why, but the second film feels like it "drifts along" more than the other two. Like things "just happen" without as much input from the characters. Again, I'm not sure why it feels like that, because it's not like the characters aren't proactive and shaping the way the story unfolds.

None of that is to say that the second movie is bad by any stretch of the imagination. It introduces a bunch of really cool new concepts that do a great job of expanding the world and characters. It just had that weird drifty feeling to it that the other two lacked. Does anyone even know what I'm talking about here, or am I just crazy??

It's nuts how much of a touchstone "For the Dancing and the Dreaming" became in fandom culture. Ten years later, and I still see this song popping up in fics from every fandom under the sun. I think that's a testament to how beautiful Stoic and Valka's reunion was.

Unfortunately, Drago Bludvist is....not a very good villain, imo. He kinda just screams a lot, and that's it. His whole thing of imitating dragons in order to subdue them is cool, but it really needed to be backed up by a stronger personality. But it's not too much of an issue since really, his Bewilderbeast is the real obstacle for the heroes to overcome.

Now, The Hidden World is a weirdly controversial movie within the fandom. I still see people whose hatred for this film rivals that of the Tales of Arcadia fandom's hatred for Rise of the Titans. Which...I gotta admit, doesn't make a ton of sense to me. Like, I can understand not liking the bittersweet ending, but it's not as though THW went out of its way to ruin the entire series.

Looking at the series as a whole, I'd say THW feels like the most logical and organic conclusion to the series. Especially if you've read the books or seen the tie-in tv shows. I knew going into this movie that it would end with the dragons leaving--DeBlois even told us as much in an interview leading up to the film's release. And I'm okay with that.

The first movie touches on the theme of loss with Hiccup's leg. The second movie digs into that theme a bit more, with the loss of his parents (first Valka, who thankfully is found again, then Stoic). The Hidden World dives headfirst into the idea. Loss is no longer a mere consequence of the story's events, but the thematic backbone of the whole movie. And it's here that I realized the series has always been about loss, because the series has always been about growing up. You can't mature without losing something, whether it's a place, a person, or your childhood naivete.

HTTYD uses its fantastic premise to explore a painful reality of our own world, and it does so in a way that's entertaining, sincere, and encouraging. Hiccup has lost so much on his journey to adulthood, but he's also grown strong enough to be able to rise above it. He'll be okay. Toothless will be okay. And we'll all be okay too. Idk, maybe I'm reading too much into it, but that's my takeaway from the series, and it's definitely something that I've needed to hear more than once as I've grown up.

Grimmel is definitely a huge step up from Drago for me. He's essentially who Hiccup would have become if he'd lacked that compassion that caused him to spare Toothless in the first film. I also love his overall demeanor and presence. He's not a force of nature, or a feral war-lord. He's just a Guy who is very, very good at his job and knows it. Plus, F. Murray Abraham just has a really cool voice.

Unfortunately, as much as I like Grimmel as a villain, he's still outclassed by Viggo Grimborn from Race to the Edge.

I can't get over how insanely good the visuals are in this series. Especially the textures. Like, there's times in the first movie where the textures look so good that the actual models almost can't keep up. I can see what Toothless's scales feel like, the scratchy weave of Hiccup's tunic, the coarse fur of Stoic's cloak. HTTYD is the only series I can think of that seamlessly pulls off a "realistic" look with animation. The world feels real, without taking away from the suspension of disbelief that makes animation such a freeing medium. It's as if they came to the edge of the uncanny valley, then got into a hot air balloon and floated across without ever touching it.

Looking back, I think this was just the perfect series to be a teenager with. It's just the right blend of action, adventure, and emotion, all wrapped up in a wholesome and often heart-rending tale of a boy and his dragon growing up together. I really wish we could have more series like this.

(Edit) Also the Light Fury is my favorite dragon species in the entire series, no I will not take that back, she's super pretty and sparkly and I just want to pat her on her cute nubby head.

Wondertober 2024 - Day 08: terror movie

Ocs: mona ashengrotto, mauz bells, Rama howl, meri should, Henry Schoenheit, Brigitte zigvolt, chaim al-asim

a loud scream came from the screen, as the characters begun running from the creature running after her.

The group seemed be feeling diffrent ways about what was going on but all kept quiet. Some mumbles here and there as for some damn reason the bird of a headmage decided they as housewarden needed to get along (which from as far as they understood they did more so than past generations of housewardens anyway)

None the less they were all forced to watch a scary movie, well sort of. since it seemed mona and mauz were dealing with paperwork for the respective side hobbies.

While Rama was trying to read a book, he was getting spooked by the sounds from the TV, every once in a while.

Meri had long since put in headphones and was playing a game. But it was clear that every once I a while she heard the sounds from the TV and glanced up to see what was going on before going back to her game.

Brigitte was actually watching the movie not feeling to frighten, while she might jump here and there. she didn't find it to frighting, what with having to deal with her grandfather's scary face every Halloween, or wonder why the characters were letting themselves be defenseless.

And Henry seemed to be playing with meri's hair after asking if it would be alright to do so, and was carefully and lovingly runing his hands though itwhile making it into a braid.

All thw while Chaim was in a conor with his head buried in a trash can as he was doing his best to quietly throw up (a silencing charm does wonders), and not trying to freak out since he was trying to keep from showing others he had been sent onto a panic attack. His gloves having turn golden at some point, but luckily no one had notice quite yet.

All in all it was going quite well. At least till the most unsettling part of the movie when the main character was trying to get away and all was quiet the music was made in a way to put all on edge and just as it picked up the door to the that had been locked before was slammed open.

The bang caused everyone to jump. Mona had spit out ink doing her best to keep from ruining her paper work, while Mauz cursed after the bang caused him to draw a line across the page. As well as some ink spots from the ink that escaped from the other girl's mouth.

Rama had jump and had growled in defense. While meri who had her headphones in took them out, whole Henry had moved to make sure meri was protected.

Brigitte had her sword and pointed it at the figure who had entered the room. And chiam whose head was still buried in in trashcan looked up and broke the silence charm he had on himself and spoke.

His voice was groggy and raspy "Sir, can I recommend that... you not slam in like that? and perhaps to never... lock us in a room or else you might..." chaim paused in his speaking as he threw up again before groaning again before he continued to speak. "be losing some money from the al-asim family"

Brigitte and meri have just noticed their friend in the far conor sitting away from everyone moved over to check if he was ok since honestly he didn't look it.

Mona was trying to clean herself both Rama and Henry were glaring at the headmage. Mauz spoke this time.

"While I don't have as much influence, I know a few lawyers and I would like to state what you did can have you in deep trouble." Mauz adjusted his glasses. "In fact I have a few papers with what you did wrong and the possible outcomes." The Heartslabyul housewarden moved to hand over the papers to the headmage.

Said head mage seemed to freat over everything ans making excuses, which no one in the room actually bought and it made them all wonder how NRC was still standing with this man in charge. None the less this day was sort of a mess and they all hopes they can at least get a bit of revenge on the man at some later date.

I’m salty at Riki. I mean he’s only human and there has been a lot going on lately so mistakes might happen and he recognized he was wrong pretty quickly and honestly still good for him defending his sister like that. Though I am so curious about why those boys were targeting Riki? Like were they jealous? Do they have something against Snowflake?

Honestly this was a rough chapter (emotionally 💀) but it definitely advanced the HoonFlake agenda because nothing is going to soften Snowflake like someone taking care of her brother…

About the new female character. I def voted in favor of adding her 🫣 but I hope Hoon doesn’t catch feelings or sample the goods. I just think jelly Snowflake would be a fun dynamic…

first of all when reader was reading and remus shows up i would have thrown the book in a panic. she’s better than me coming up with lies out of thin air!!

For the httyd questions!! 1, 6 and 9 maybe?

1: The first movie is what got me, but I didn't actually watch it until almost a year after release! I collected the mcdonalds toys (and pretended to be Toothless in my backyard?) but my parents would not splurge for me to see it in theaters so I had to wait and watch a copy online haha. To this day I will never forget the feeling I had watching Hiccup fall into the fire with Toothless diving after him for the first time. It was such an 'oh shit' moment of recognizing that I had never seen something that powerful? meaningful? important? in a movie before. I was very impressed that the studio had told a story catering to my interests and feelings. I guess that was the exact moment that started it all haha

6: So aside from my #1 hiccstrid which is probably the most common ship, of the canonish options I really loved when Ruffnut was pining after Eret in the second movie and I think they really compliment each other, since he's so level headed compared to her zaniness but also is a pretty loud boastful guy! And it would be funny if he got not only accidentally adopted into a new tribe but also accidentally adopted as a fiance at the same time haha. He'd be so confused but end up falling for her despite himself.

I can't see Ruff with the other boys, who had plenty of chances to woo her in RTTE and the second movie but were never right for her. Plus then they're free for fishlout <3 which is the real standout ship from RTTE for me. It does so much for both of their character development even with the canon crumbs we get. And if rufflegs has to be canon, then Snotlout should absolutely end up with Eret! His one-sided rivalry in THW screams "crush I don't know how to deal with"

A very unlikely ship of mine is Eret and Heather. I feel like they could go sooo well together, I've even considered going that route in my modern au but I think I'll probably stick to my rufferet roots? I guess I just keep shipping everyone with Eret, huh? I once had a dream that I was dating Kit Harington, maybe that's got something to do with it

9: Hiccup, always. I'm always aspiring to be Astrid, but really I'm not very much like her at all. As a kid I really related to him in the first movie due to his rocky relationship with a parent and his whole not fitting in thing. Now I really, really relate to him as an adult in the second and third movie. I don't want to get too deep, but like him the loss of that same parent was my cue to step up into new adult responsibilities, and I haven't really managed it. So I feel like I'm letting down my family if I continue to flounder, but also letting myself down if I settle into the role they want rather than running away on my own to find my own life. It feels very similar to his struggle between the tribe and the dragons. Fortunately I'm not really the chief of my family, so fingers crossed I'm able to get back on my feet soon and head out the door 🤞 I want the dragon life

the one thing he did wrong in my eyes is overpopulate berk in the first place. he knew the dangers of overpopulation back in defenders of berk when the screaming death sunk all those islands. he knew what a fire break was at age 16 when he re-encountered adult!torch, so why does berk look the way it does? like i get he's worried about wild dragons being trapped and ig he wants to keep them under his watchful eye at all times (completely fair), but like- dude you have a whole forest to work with... the city design of thw!berk sucks basically and hiccup is a talented engineer who probably should've known better. 16 year old hiccup would probably die inside if he saw the state of thw!berk.

he's like. one guy. who has just suffered so much trauma throughout the past year. finding his dead mother, losing his dad to toothless of all characters, almost losing toothless, having berk attacked by a stark raving warlord and a giant grumpy cat, becoming chief (which was NOT something he wanted to do), not to mention the events of the serpents heir, dragonvine and the fire tides (fuuuuck). he's clinging to his dream of a peaceful world between vikings and dragons, trying to make it happen (more power to him), making some bad decisions, and nobody else is picking up on it and if they are they're not telling him. except fucking Gobber who is NOT someone hiccup is going to listen to considering the apparent dialogue between them (the pressure to get married and all, like i'd struggle to take anyone seriously if that was one of their gripes with me, especially the way gobber phrases it). dude is messed up and nobody around him is helping him because these are not the same characters as we once knew. snotlout would never. tuffnut would never. astrid would never. ruffnut would never. even fucking fishlegs should know better than to bring a baby to a battle like dude wtf didn't you learn anything from the Garff Incident in season six??? valka feels so wrong and eret's in character i guess but literally does nothing like what even is his role?? the only one who feels even particularly in-character is gobber and he's so weirdly mean-spirited in thw that its jarring. these characters are not helping him, not pointing out these issues, nothing. fishleg's line about almost feeling like a team broke my heart like- what happened between rtte and now to kill that bond?? what happened to the honesty and care for each other that they showed in, say, a grim retreat or darkest night?? what happened to these guys being family??

I'm gonna say it; Hiccup did nothing wrong. We're treating him as the biggest problem of THW when literally his worst crime in is somehow losing his freckles and that's not even something he has control over. Oh and that kind of incredibly stupid plan of literally moving an entire people by going "let's just fly straight until we hit something :) even though I, Hiccup Haddock, somehow don't believe the world is round."

The entire rest of the movie is everyone else around him being horrible and out of character.

Berk is a mess in the beginning of the movie, yes. But it was also just a year ago that his father was horribly murdered in front of him because Draco Bloodyfist-Or-Whatever decided to sent his mind controled best friend after him. Everybody expects Hiccup to be put together and solve all problems immediately and remain a Dragon Rider when he should be buying a therapist a mansion and a yacht with all those billed sessions.

Then there is being told more than once that he's putting Astrid second when he literally isn't. And told he should meet her standard.s

There is all that stuff about how he's been a horrible pet owner to Toothless when he had legitimate and real fears about Toothless not making it out in wild and about the Light Fury turning on him and about him not coming back. (Like... he's a disabled dragon, for Gods' sake??? Toothless will literally NOT make it without human intervention)

He's called out for not embracing change when his name was literally synonymous with change before THW and every bit of change he proposes in the movie is met with backlash unless Astrid, their not-chief, says it's okay.

His mother, who abandoned him for 20 and came home with him after the traumatic loss of his father spends most of the movie not being the mother she promised him to be in the second movie and even advocated for the Riders to be less dependent on dragons when she was with dragons for the entirety of those 20 years.

And then there is all the bullying. Making fun of his voice, telling him- a disabled person- to LOSE THE LIMP, telling him he's not worthy of Astrid the warrior goddess (completely forgetting how Hiccup is both parts warrior and diplomat in at least the previous two movies, let alone the movies and the shows) and these three things are all said by Tuffnut! "Forgets he has a sister in THW" Tuffnut!

And let's not forget Snotlout's "who died and made you chief?!" when Snotlout was literally crying at Stoick's funeral. And then proceeds to hit on the dead man's wife and his best friend's mother while also putting said best friend down!

Like... none of the things said to him in the first movie were as bad as some of the things said in THW.

The entire movie is also basically Hiccup being pulled from one direction to the other.

It's "You're a bad chief because you're not changing anything" yet it's also "how dare you make this change!"

It's "you should step up as chief" yet it's also "we will only listen if Astrid says it's good."

It's "you were literally keeping Toothless captive for 6 years :/" yet it's also "Uuuhhh, time to cut the umbilical cord, don't you think? 🙄"

It's "you let Toothless go free, what did you expect?" yet also "uh, you let him go???"

It's "you are literally nothing without Toothless, sorry :/" yet it's also "Toothless only showed you what was already inside."

It's "you should put Astrid first for once" yet it's also "I, Hiccup, will literally listen to every single word you, Astrid, says even if it's hurtful."

It's "I, Astrid, will suggest to you, Hiccup, that we go find Toothless in the hidden world" yet it's also "I, Astrid, will blame you, Hiccup, for deciding to go to the Hidden World, making the Light Fury, who you have no control over, to follow us back home"

It's "hey man, can you help me with this dragon tail? :(" yet it's also "I will literally not listen to you when I'm about to break this branch that I and the dragon tail are on."

I mean, my God! I'd sent the dragons away if I had to listen to that for the past year after I watched my father die a gruesome death.

And that's not even the worst part. The worst part is Toothless abandoning Hiccup for the most shallow reason there is; chasing dragon tail that doesn't even want anything to do with him unless he does something that impresses her when he's the king of the dragons.

So yeah, probably an unpopular opinion, but besides one bad plan, Hiccup did nothing wrong besides listen to what all the people around him were saying, no matter how much they contradict themselves.

Really, what he needs is a hug. A Real one. :(
