I keep getting messaged about this recent video by people (mainly by friends but others as well) but I might as well just make a post here about it because its funny
So there was a recent Jameskii video where they were playing a burger shop simulator game and the customers that came into the shop were npcs of friends of people who were on the server.
And because I'm friends with Twisted (I do art for him sometimes & chat with him sometimes) this creature showed up
twice.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
whats funnier about the last part is that I dont even like beef in real life.

Small fursuit showcase!!
Tumblr media
I've made a partial today cuz I wanted to, and had every material I needed, so I decided to go for it! this is my kinsona, Datoria.
Its still missing a few little design details, even tho i tried to simplify it, but I think it looks great so far! The brown belts (that im gonna make more into a bird hood-looking thing) are detachable, they have buttons that pin onto the fur from the back ^^
and on the left, there's a big "tail". I've made it because I realized that fursuit wings are too hard for me to make xD but Im looking forward to do them in the future!
I hope yall like it !!

thinking about characters fursonas is always more fun to me than directly anthro-ifying them because it's not just a question of "what animal would they be" since before you can even ask that you have to figure out how they would pick a fursona, and i almost feel like that says more about a character than what animal they choose.
like. would they want an animal that represents their ideal self? something that represents how they see themself to be currently? and how well does that perception match up with these actual reality? or would they pick based on something less complicated like "favorite animal"/"movie character they liked”.
all that leadup to ask, how do you think your mvf guys would pick their fursonas?
💯💯💯 literally it's one of the most fun characterisation exercises you can do, it tells you SO much about them, how they view themselves, what they want others to think of them and so on. all that good stuff. and then you get to delve into furry subcultures, influential artists etc
so on to the actual fursoneys themselves
Jean-Baptiste - aforementioned hummingbird with a suit from idk clockworkcreature or something. the subculture/art style is realistic but very humanised, basically a bird head on a feathery human body, no wing-hands, with a Georgian style of dress (potentially with steampunk elements) and named after a famous scientist from the period. He would not be an artist, but he would be one of those ppl who's a bigtime engineer making huge money who invests heavily in commissions of art (usually traditional media like oils, colouring pencil, etc) and writing about this character, who is a kind of inventor/old-timey scientist with a highly detailed backstory and canon setting. He chose the hummingbird because it's beautiful, precise, and tenacious, and also just because he likes the 'rare fursona species' aura. He has VERY strong negative view on poodling (when someone wears a partial fursuit with their skin showing) and has been posting to the same old rp forum for the past 20 years. Rude and bitchy but one of those guys who always pays well and tips for commissions because money is no object. an important part of the economy
Bowman - exactly the opposite to everything above. His fursona is a retriever-ish dog called Dog or Mutt or something with a single-colour palette and the art style is new school big toothy grin etc. fursona exclusively wears board shorts. He draws at a beginner level and he's obviously having a blast with it. The muscles are very detailed (so's the bulge) & the art is clearly bara influenced, especially around the eyes. He wouldn't have any interest in suiting i don't think but you will find him at the furry rave in a neoprene harness. He wouldn't have much money to commission with and his twitter feed would be mostly reposts of other people's art (without permission)
Islin - ok you know that one genre of art style used exclusively by dragon furries where it's got realistic scale textures, backgrounds, and the ref sheets are usually incredibly detailed and the dragons in their anthro forms are always absurdly ripped. He can draw this, i know it in my heart. The design is pretty generic western dragon, all things considered, I don't think he has the imagination for more (sorry). Character's name is something appropriately fantasy-ish like Xyrgoryx. He could definitely take commissions as a side hustle but as a perfectionist and professional worrier it would overwhelm him easily. You would probably not find him at a convention at all, I'd say such spaces do not appeal to him. He's been on Furcadia tho.
Félix - generic twinky fox in a thin-lines washboard abs disney-inspired art style with an absurdly deep backstory which we never get to see because the character is only ever drawn being railed. He can draw but more importantly he knows how to take the commissioner's money and run, delete his account, and remake under a different username. Was able to afford a fullsuit from Made Fur You and that alone gave him enough clout to continually avoid allegations of past misbehaviour. Every so often someone goes "hey isn't that a known scammer" when they see him at a con but it never sticks. Later he would get cancelled immediately for saying he "didn't care about" right-wing furries as long as their art was cute.
Senca - Almost certainly a feline-based original species or hybrid. The art style is very goldenwolf with spiritual/neopagan influences, mostly traditional media and ACEOs in oil pastel so it's got a kind of smudgy look. Her character has the same name as her and she considers it a 'truesona' of sorts. She's an established artist and well-respected but struggles to keep up with what Tha Youth are doing and her personal website has looked the same since the year 2006. She has a realistic partial suit but doesn't wear it much anymore, preferring to vend at the dealer's den instead. She always knows way too much gossip about any given person you could point out to her but she insists she isn't involved in what she'll delicately & vaguely refer to as 'drama'.
Léa - she was attracted by the promise of easy entry into a supportive and friendly readymade community and bought an expensive Closed Species design to be her fursona. She tried to participate in events but instead got sucked into a cesspit of petty warfare between her CS community and a very similar CS with design elements that may have been inspired by hers (after all, 'dog with kinda long pointy ears and a big fluffy tail' is VERY copyrightable). She goes along with it, afraid of losing her space in the panopticon discord community by voicing a dissenting opinion and it'll eat her up from the inside. until one day she wakes up and realises she paid €400 to gossip and participate in a group that bans you from adding horns to your fursona's head (a legendary trait restricted to the CS owner and their favourite sycophants) whose main form of bonding ritual seems to be reposting their enemies' art to mock it and colour-pick to prove the palettes were copied. She explains all this to Bowman in one big tearful rant on their first offline date at Eurofurence and he helps her get away from that community.
Helena - that was her copyrighted closed species. and she IS litigious about it.
Erica - it's a pine marten in a modern sketchy "just got an ipad and procreate" style, really cute, fun design, good coordinating outfit, honestly ticks all the boxes but then 5 days after he posts that awesome themed ref sheet he's got a brand NEW fursona and this time it's a cute lil jackdaw, again lovely design all around looks great but wait no in 5 days time it's a roe deer, no wait it's an otter, it's a gecko, it's a
Pascal - a sick as hell cartoony golden eagle with an electric guitar and sunglasses and you can imagine it airbrushed onto the side of a campervan because that's where it lives. he's strictly offline, doesn't know what a furry is, never been on twitter, but he is 100% certain in his heart that this bird is a true representation of himself

how do you have the courage to be yourself? how do you not fear of their looks or their words? I just... I'm sorry if this is hard to answer.
don’t be sorry. honestly, it took me a long time to be able to not care about being judged. i used to be a super socially anxious and shy person. but recently within the last few years i’ve realized that it just… doesn’t matter what other people think of you. i know that’s so cliche. but honestly.
when i was in high school i started dressing uhhh.. let’s say a little weird. i wanted to test the waters, so to speak. i was experimenting with clothes and trying to teach myself to not be afraid of getting weird looks. because people WOULD give me weird looks, and comments, and even laugh at me. but i liked the way i looked, and my friends thought it was fun, so… what’s the big deal? how is it really affecting me, what they think about how i dress?
i got called a furry a lot in high school, and sometimes barked at. i didn’t know what a furry even was, so it didn’t bother me. i asked my friend one day, and she told me its people who dress like animals, and that i should look it up, because she thinks i’d really like it. and you know what? she was right. so i was a furry. i sometimes wore cat ears or a collar to school. and it still didn’t bother me when people tried to make fun of me for it. partially because i didn’t realize they were making fun of me (the tism) but partially because i didn’t care. *i* thought furries were cool, so i wasn’t embarrassed about them calling me one. they were right, after all 🤷‍♀️
i’m still openly a furry. i wore my fursuit to my college classes on halloween. i’m openly queer. i’m semi-openly a therian (close friends and family know, and ill tell anyone who asks). i don’t mind being weird or different, because i learned when i was a teenager to not be afraid of weird looks or being laughed at. they cant hurt you. it just doesn’t matter to me if other people think i’m cool or not, *i* think i’m cool. i made friends with other people who thought i was cool.
i was worried for a while that if i was too weird, nobody would like me and i wouldn’t have any friends. but the thing is, you won’t make friends by pretending to be someone you’re not. not real friends. i promise that *someone* will still like you. you’ll find someone like you. someone will still understand and think you’re cool no matter how weird you are. and if they don’t, i’m always here :)
LASTLY (sorry this has been so long) i’m good at being openly myself now because of how i worked on my self esteem. i used to have super low self esteem, i didn’t think highly of myself at all. but i read something online once, a few years ago, that said instead of making self-deprecating jokes/comments, to start making self-aggrandizing jokes. instead of saying “i can’t believe i got a good grade with how dumb and bad at math i am”, start saying “of course i got a good grade, im just that amazing and smart and incredible”. so i started doing that. personally, i think these kinds of jokes are WAY funnier, and also they help your self esteem. even if you don’t believe what you’re saying, it still subconsciously builds up an idea of yourself in your head. i will quite often make jokes like this, and i find this helps TREMENDOUSLY with not caring about how people think of me. who cares if they think i’m weird? i’m so pretty and smart and funny and talented 😌 i don’t need them to like me
anyway. that’s a lot of words to say sticks and stones can break your bones but words can never hurt you. but it’s true!
the fear of being judged is a (super valid to have, but) irrational fear, imo; judgement will not hurt you. so my big three tips, if you’re trying to start not caring about what people think: practice, find friends/a group who like you for who you are, and don’t think too poorly of yourself

Sorry if this is a silly question, but regarding these: https://www.tumblr.com/a-dragons-journal/764822893191462912/elamarth-calmagol-boy-am-i-glad-you-asked?source=share
In your opinion, how are these alterhuman? Especially ones like archetropy and hearthomes, I think I'm just not 100% clicking on what makes them not standard humanity things?
Embodying an archetype in your everyday life as a major facet of your identity is absolutely not a standard human experience. Yes, there are humans who do this, but it is not a common or standard thing and many people will probably look at you a little strangely if you try to describe it (especially with more "out-there" archetypes).
Similarly, hearthomes are not a standard human experience either. Yes, everyone's seen a place and briefly yearned for it, but genuinely feeling nostalgic and homesick to the point of physical chest pain for a place you've never been? Having it absorb large parts of your thoughts over the course of years? Getting close to tears (or actually crying) over the knowledge that you'll never physically be there even to visit, in the case of fictional hearthomes? This is not a standard experience. This is an experience that many people will think you a little strange for if you try to describe it to them.
Furthermore, they're alterhuman partially because they arose out of the alterhuman community and its culture. Both of them were coined to be alterhuman terms. This is also true of most of the other terms on that list (the exception being furry lifestylers, but I think we can all agree that walking around on your toes to mimic anthros, fursuiting in daily life, etc. is considered outside society's idea of "normal humanity").
I'm a little brain-foggy right now, and not really sure how to explain it any better; hopefully that helps?

Hi! Do you have written explanations for the Cringetober themes? I understand you already have made a video where you explain the themes but because English is not my first language it's sometimes hard to understand everything from just speech.
I didn’t until 2 minutes ago, but here they are!
screenshot redraw - something easy we have screenshot redraw, this can be from a TV show or cartoon or movie or whatever. you can replace the characters or just redo it in your own style
tsundere - a tsundere is the trope where a character, usually a girl, pretends to find their love interest annoying out of embarrassment for their crush
oversized prop - pretty straight forward. love a good disproportional hammer
fursona / fursuit - first bit of encouragement to explore outside 2D illustration. i know full suits are expensive, so let this be your sign to make or design a partial yourself out of whatever you have lying around; cardboard, fabric and wire, even paper. of course, you can stick to drawing your fursona
gjinka - it's a humanization of anything, whether that be a pokemon or other monster character, an animal, a concept or emotion like inside out, an object or even something like an app
unnatural eye color - fairly straightforward, character with weird eyes
crossover - characters from different media interacting with one another
dead meme - perfect opportunity for people like me who see a meme or trend going around and then, by the time they get around to it, its well run its course
childhood videogame - this can be any game you played when you were younger, but i was specifically thinking of stuff like pokemon, sonic, mario, minecraft, five nights at freddy's, or undertale
ship dynamics - a relationship dynamic or overused cliche
5+1 things - fairly common trope in fanfiction, it refers to a character or characters experiencing 5 similar events that all go roughly the same way, as well as another similar event that this time ends up pretty different. it can be happy or sad, and of course you can stick to a comic or illustration, but fanfiction or creative writing in general is often looked down upon, so i think y’all should at least try to write something
hatsune miku / vocaloid - any vocaloid, doesn’t have to be part of the main vocaloid suite. people make cool interpretations of hatsune miku’s design specifically, but you can do any character you’d like
rule 63 - for every male character, there exists a female counterpart, and for every female character, there exists a male counterpart. basically, genderbends
incorrect quote - you can depict a character (original or not) saying any kind of iconic quote that you think suits them
animation meme - most classic animation memes are actually really simple with somewhat jerky movements, which is ideal for those just starting animation. if you've always wanted to animate but the concept seemed too daunting, here's the opportunity for you! of course, you can just reference popular animation memes with a still image if you’d prefer
something you've been bullied for - there are a lot of things that are considered cringe that a person can't change about themselves, even if they want or try to. i didn't want to single out any specific insecurities, so i left it broad enough for it to apply to everyone. it's kind of like a free space to celebrate anything about yourself that you've felt ashamed of
f2u base - f2u stands for 'free to use', basically an empty sketch you can use to draw whatever characters you want. this can be interpreted as either making or using a free base, so do whichever one you'd prefer. if you're using a base, just remember to credit the original artist if you post it
Fandom AU - good simple fun. draw characters you like from a piece of media you like in any alternate universe you like
alternative fashion - your opportunity to experiment with a fashion style you've always thought was cool but were too nervous to try. alternatively, (haha) draw a character in alt fashion
tumblr sexywoman - a female character that is, for whatever reason, incredibly popular and found attractive
closet cosplay - build a cosplay using only things you already have in your closet! I wanted to encourage people to get into cosplay since it’s such a fun hobby
candygore - gory drawings that involve pastel colors and sometimes literal candy iconography
adult cartoons - cartoons intended for older audiences, ex. Hazbin Hotel, Smiling Friends, Amazing Digital Circus
niche interest - another free space that lets you make something relating to a pretty unpopular or not very well known thing that you really like
gacha life (I spelled it wrong on the list) - it’s a website where you can design characters and move them around and make up stories. it was super influential for a lot of artists
Y/N or Mary Sue - could be a male Mary Sue too. A very overpowered, perfect character. Alternatively, you can interpret this as literally “your name” and insert yourself into whatever media you want
YouTuber fanart - do some fanart for a YouTube channel you enjoy, whether that be for an art channel, a commentary or video game youtuber, or sketch comedy
mascot horror - anything relating to horror that involves cute marketable characters. FNAF, poppy playtime, Amanda the adventurer are all some examples
experimental makeup - trying out a makeup style that you haven’t done before. of course, if you aren’t comfortable wearing makeup, you can totally draw a character experimenting with their own makeup style
supernatural or monster character - demon, vampire, werewolf, fairy, or any monster type character you can think of
HALLOWEEN - anything spooky to celebrate Halloween!!
While I hope this compilation was useful, please remember that all the prompts are completely up to interpretation. There are no rules to Cringetober! Just do whatever you want and have fun :)

"Hey, Hamin."
Yoojin is sitting slumped in a beaten up garden chair, fiddling with his lighter. He can't smoke in here but there isn't anywhere to sit outside and he really can't stand that long today. Go figure.
"Hm?" Do Hamin is sitting on an equally beaten up chair, guzzling a mana potion. He's had to actually do his job today for once and is very unhappy about it.
Not that Yoojin is any happier, he can already tell it's going to rain later by the pain crawling up and down his leg, and he'll need to be on public transport for at least another hour to get to his flat. Hamin will have to cope with being his distraction from misery.
"How do you even become a furry?"
Hamin chokes on his potion, clearly expecting anything but that. "What?!"
"Oh come on, don't pretend like you don't know what I'm talking about. I've slept at your place before." It was a deeply disturbing experience to get up at three in the morning for a piss only to stumble across a giant hamster head. Yoojin almost died of a heart attack before he figured out what that thing was.
Hamin is red in the face, partially from embarrassment and partially from breathing in potion.
"How do you get into anything? You see it around and think it sounds kind of fun, I guess."
Yoojin shifts in his seat, trying to find a position that isn't immensely painful. "Yeah but like specifically. You don't go from 'nice art' or whatever to the whole, uh-" He waves his hand in the air.
"Fursuit?"
"Yeah, that. I mean, there have to be steps in between, right? Those things look fucking expensive."
Hamin sighs, apparently resigned to being Yoojin's Furry Insider. "They are. Bought or self made."
"Wait, you made that yourself?"
"Mhm, took fucking ages. But worth it for Hammie."
"Hammie?"
"My fursona."
Yoojin clicks his lighter open and shut again. "That's a nice name."
Hamin scoffs. "You don't have to pretend to be nice, I can hear you're judging me."
"No, no!" He is. "I think it's nice you're having fun and stuff."
"You just wouldn't get it."
"That's why I'm asking, I don't know what there is to get."
"I don't know what to tell you, it's just fun. The art, the lore, the community. No idea what else you want from me." He shrugs.
They sit in silence for a bit, Yoojin chewing on his lip. Surely, if he only pulls off all the dead skin, what stays behind will be soft and nice.
"So, about the porn."
"I hate you sometimes, you know that?"
"Get in line. But about the porn."
"What about the porn?"
"Just. Are you into it?"
"You're horrible. Why do I even talk to you. No, not personally. A lot of the art is really good though, can't scoff at that."
"I don't know, I don't love the cartoon style."
Hamin rolls his eyes. "You're not even a furry, how would you know what there is to appreciate?"
"Are you gonna show me?"
"And have you laugh at me? As if." Hamin whisks his empty potion bottle away, back inside the inventory, and gets up to dig a bottle of beer out of the mini-fridge he has in his office. The true height of classiness. "Want some?"
"Yeah." Yoojin pulls out his keys to open the bottles with the edge. "I wouldn't laugh at you, I'd just appreciate the artistry."
"Right, and pigs can fly."
"I'm sure there's some flying pig furries. Not that I'd know, because you refuse to share."
Hamin lets out a deep, beleaguered sigh. "If you want you can come to a furcon with me next month. But only if you promise to be nice."
"Really? I'm always nice! How much are the tickets?"
"Like seventyfive thousand won."
"Oh god. Sorry, I don't think I can become a furry anymore."
"That's what I thought, asshole."

Do you have any shape shifter headcanons for dsmp and why…
UMM!! My ideas for character designs are smooth and constantly shifting so let me think..
ok im putting this under a line i had more thoughts than i expected
I go back and forth on Tubbo being a shapeshifter. Yuker made a good comic on the idea. If not I think he's just a human guy who tends to change his appearance a lot, either based on people who have had a big impact on him or to chameleon. He mimics Tommy's appearance a lot in his early days out as transmasc, so he cuts his hair short and wears a lot of outdoor-oriented and kind of styleless clothing. Throughout the early SMP and L'Manburg he came into his own personality wise, but also slotted into the more formal environment. He grew his hair out more but kept it brushed and wore lots of button ups. During Manberg he completely bleached his hair and started wearing suits. He also lost a ton of weight and stopped styling his hair. As president he wore a cracked segment of Schlatt's face from a stone bust to obscure his scars and partial blindness. His suit coat is too big so he wears it like a cape. By the time of Snowchester he has sort of a crisis about looking like other people and dyes random patches of his hair pink and blood and wears almost entirely utilitarian clothing.
I could maybe see Dream as a shapeshifter? I think it could lead to some interesting things if he didn't literally have a mask, but was just always mimicking other people so no one knew what his actual face looked like. On the other hand I like making Dream a fairly normal guy before he started to take a turn during the elections, with any inhumanity being a conscious choice of presentation on his part.
I have some ideas about Niki but it's not quite shapeshifter. She was originally this sort of mechanical angel, like one of those automatons from the 1800s, with plating over internal engines and clockwork. She starts out looking like a very traditional christian angel, but paints herself and starts wearing clothes to appear more human-ish. She has a lot of fun messing with her appearance. This also has the effect of her appearance and humanity being kind of an exposed nerve when people insult her over it. When she's spiraling alone in the hidden city she sort of takes her entire shell off and just looks like if you took the guts of a grandfather clock and had it move around like a skeleton. She tries to make herself very menacing after joining the Syndicate, but it does not do great things for her sense of personhood. I think after she gets her shit together she'd whittle herself a new exterior.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(^^ she kinda starts out looking like these but made of gold and wrought iron)
I know people headcanon fundy as a shapeshifter a lot but I don't vibe with it. I really like anthro designs of him, and there's more canon backing, but I'm also infatuated with characters that are just. real furries. meaning humans who dress up and draw animals. There aren't enough of those as characters and I feel like with Fundy it could be poignant for his struggle to be viewed as an adult and then the struggle to really have any consistent relationships in his life and the distance he feels towards humanity do to his isolation feelings of abandonment and straying from even grounded time and space. To me he's a guy who got really into furries when he was younger, was mocked relentlessly for it, repressed it into complete denial by the time of L'Manberg onward, and then got back into it with encouragement from his girlfriend who wears a fursuit everyday in public for fun (also its absolutely a sex thing for H but she lets Fundy have it as a not sex thing. mostly)
I think there could be something to be said for Puffy being an anthro-to-human shapeshifter and how it relates to the building pressure she feels to sort of 'save' everyone around her, whether that's as an untrained therapist or the leader of a resistance against a god or the girlfriend of a very destructive woman. Maybe her sheep/monster form is her more comfortable form but she uses it increasingly less as she feels the need to sort of be 'perfect' and is more frequently human.
I think Mexican Dream was probably just some poor shapeshifting monster that felt bad for Tommy and worked with what was around. Maybe he was some kind of sea monster derivative of a siren that was just passing by. God sends his most helpful soldiers to be brutally murdered five minutes after their introduction.
The only main character I guess I could see as a shapeshifter is maybe Quackity? I think breaking down how that fits with his character is above my paygrade but I think generally with how much of his character is about presentation and a lot of his story is sort of trying to fit into different places before Las Nevadas. I imagine his shifting is pretty smooth, like an animation rather than something with blood and bones below skin shifting. But who knows maybe that's a performance in of itself. I think most of the forms he takes are pretty human but when he's in full Las Nevadas I-don't-care-about-people-quit-your-job-join-my-emo-country mode he does like a chimera thing. Lion mane around his neck like old royal fashion snakes coming out of his wrists dove wings everywhere. It's incredibly taxing so he usually just does it for commercials and threatening people.

What is a furry?: Definitions and misconceptions
Furries are one of the most misunderstood fandoms both in person and online! In this post I will be discussing what a furry is, as well as discussing some common misconception in regards to the fandom!
What is a furry?
In order to dispel misunderstanding, we first need to define what a furry actually is. A furry is a nickname for anyone in the anthropomorphic animal fandom, much like how swiftie is a Taylor swift fan and Trekkie is the nickname for someone who’s a fan of Star Trek! To put it simply: furries are people who find animals who look and behave like humans cool! That all someone need to be a furry. They don’t need to own a fursuit, be an artist, or even have a fursona! All they need is to like the concept of anthropomorphic animals and call themselves a furry!
Some definitions!
Furry: a person in the anthropomorphic animal fandom
Anthropomorphic: giving human characteristics to non-human things
Fursuit: an hand-made costume, either based on the client’s own character or a pre-existing character the designer made (known as a premade suit). Fullsuits are full fursuits, well partials are just some pieces like owning just a head, tail, and paws.
Misconception 1: All furries own fursuits
Although fursuits are a big part of the fandom, they arn’t the main point, and not all furries own or even want a suit!
According to a 2011 survey done by FurScience:
Only around 10-15% own a fullsuit
Only around 25% own a partial suit
A little over 10% have no interest in owning a fursuit
Around 5% have no interest in owning a partial suit.
People with fursuits are more likely to attend conventions, with around 40% owning some sort of fursuit. This is likely part of the reason most people think they’re a much bigger part of the fandom than they are. They’re a lot more noticeable, and people often look at conventions as an accurate representation of the whole, which often isn’t the case as many can not afford to travel and attend conventions.
Misconception 2: Furries believe they are animals (aka the litter box myth)
This misconception likely comes from a mix of two things: media misinformation and getting therian’s and other kin confused.
No, furries do not believe we are animals. It is likely people are confusing us with Therians (those who believe they have some sort of connection to an animal, such as believing they were one in a past life). According to a survey, only around 10% of furries identify as therians. Is their overlap? Absolutely! But not all furries are therians and not all therians are furries.
Furry isn’t an identity. You can’t “identify as a furry”, just like you can’t “identify as a swifty”
When it comes to the whole litter box thing, it’s almost all hearsay from kids. It initially started with one kid telling their mother that they had litter boxes for kids who identified as animals. The mother took her kids word for it, talk about it at a school board meeting, the video blows up, and boom, suddenly kids everywhere are saying it’s happening, and yet despite kids constantly talking about it, I’ve never seen a video or picture of any of the incidents described. Now, schools may have litter in their schools, but these are often for either students who have service animals, schools to have a place for students to pee during a lockdown, and for cleaning up vomit and other accidents kids may have in school
Misconception 3: Furry is a new thing
The furry fandom started as an offset of the sci fi fandom, dating all the way back to the 80s! It’s definitely grown in popularity with the internet, but we’ve been around much longer than you probably expected!
Misconception 4: Furry is LGBT+
Although there are a lot of furries who are LGBT+ in some way, being a furry by itself does not make you a part of the LGBT+ community, and their are plenty of furries who are not a member of the LGBT+ communities. LGBT+ is about romantic/sexual orientation and gender identity, and being a furry is neither of those.
Misconception 5: furry is a kink/fetish
Although their absolutely is a NSFW side of the fandom, it is not the main point of the fandom, and there are plenty of people (like myself) who don’t partake in it at all. Even for those who do partake in the NSFW side of the fandom, they often arn’t their just for that aspect and enjoy the SFW parts of the fandom as well. After all, if it was fully an NSFW fandom, 18+ dealers dens (vender halls at furry cons) and 18+ events at conventions wouldn’t be sectioned off or during after hour times. They’re kept separate for a reason, and that’s because not every member of the fandom is interested in it.
Additionally, most fursuits are actually not made to accommodate NSFW activities, and most fursuiters don’t use their suits for things like that, reporting things such as “they don’t believe it would be comfortable” and that they do not want to ruin an expensive suit.
Additionally, many people confuse pup play (those leather pup masks) with furry. There is absolutely overlap between these two cultures, but again, not every furry is a pup player and not every pup player is a furry.
Let’s not forget how many minors are in the fandom too! Trying to call a fandom that has many young people in it as a sex thing is- very uncomfortable.
Misconception 6: furries are zoophiles
You’re going to get your gross people in every fandom, and unfortunately when you have a fandom centered around animals, it’s going to attract those who have bad intentions with them. That being said, zoos are not welcome in the fandom, and being called out as a zoophile is social suicide in the fandom.
For example, a very popular fursuit maker known as DHC was exposed to be a zoophile and animal abuser. After this was called out, they lost thousands of followers, and anyone who buys a suit from them is ostracized by most of the fandom for supporting someone who hurts animals. Some people even took it too far by harassing those who bought their suits before DHC was exposed, and although I don’t agree with harassing people who had no idea, it is a testament to just how much the fandom hates these people.
When it comes to art, it’s pretty looked down upon too, with being caught making “feral” NSFW art (art when an animal appears like an actual animal with animal anatomy) being a career ender for many artists. The general rule of thumb being that 1. The character has the ability to consent, 2. The character is anthro and 3.The things being sexualized are human characteristics.
Unfortunately, there will always be gross people in every fandom, but just like every other fandom, we shouldn’t generalize it based on the worst of it.
And that’s it!
Feel free to reblog with your own thoughts or things I missed. I’m sick of seeing people, especially kids, being harassed and threatened over things that arnt even true. For more Info as well as to see where I sourced my statistics, check out furscience, a group dedicated to researching the fandom!

hey I'm sorry if you're already being bombarded with stuff about therian gear, but I just wanted to say that it all really does come down to skill level and time/materials when pricing. (tldr at bottom, I'm sorry it's a lot) It's partially why fursuits also get so expensive. Taking the US federal minimum wage, if someone spent 5 hours on a mask, they would have only made around $36 for that "shift" they worked. That does not include materials or quality of the mask, or even shipping cost (which can go up past $20)
It's true to say that at the end, buying a mask is a luxury item. You don't NEED one to express your nonhumanity, but if you commission someone for one you are partially paying for their skill. It's wearable art. I've seen them get pretty expensive, but thats because they're essentially fursuit heads at that point with how much detail and features they have. Ive seen standard ones go for around $150 max because of the airbrushing/realism and quality products
*tldr:* it isn't a black and white thing. You have the right to feel however you feel about it, but you can't be putting down others or even bully them for them wanting an artist to be paid a fair wage or a wage based on skill. You don't need to be as hostile and passive-agressive as you've been /Lh
Lol *im* “passive aggressive” “hostile” and “a bully” when im just speakin regularly…do i have to say it? (Ifykyk) what about everyone calling me slurs and shit and throwing obscenities at me for saying “did that make you feel better” 💀 im not going to touch base on the gear because I’ve already said my piece. Lmao. But thanks for the essay i guess

can I ask what your experience with stingray suits was like? I am hoping to commission them when they open next and wanna hear what the experience was like for you !! :3
stingray/spice is great to work with! seriously cant reccomend him enough ^^ for reference i commissioned a full partial of kubo, so im still waiting on arm sleeves, feet, and small add ons like his collar and eyelids!
i originally commissioned kubo to be finished in time for anthrocon, back in February i think? and AC was in late June. even though i didn't end up going to AC he was very committed to meeting the deadline, offering to finish the suit and still have it shipped in time when the con was 2 weeks away and the fur had only jus finally come in *___*
then i asked him if he could be done by furrydelphia, and even tho there was a hiccup with not ordering enough of a certain fur color, he still managed to get the suit to me early august! he even offered to overnight it so i got kubo literally Just as he finished
Tumblr media
as for the suit itself its fantastic! its my second fursuit head so i still have a lot to get used to in terms of visibility and stuff, the ventilation is rough but only bc i wanted kemono eyes, which stop me from getting air circulation through the eyes but thats my choice! im sure his other suits have great air flow, spice was also super accommodating to my requests for comfort, like doing five finger paws instead of 4!
so yes i totally recommend stingray suits!
spice is also a pal of mine soO he was nice enough to theme kubos whole box around lovecore bc thats my thing :*) there were so many fun freebies and stingray plushies & goodies, he even threw in a WHOLE handmade weighted lovecore plushie outta nowhere?? the absolute mad man (but please dont *expect* free things with ur suit im just mentioning this bc im saying hes a real cool dude)
Tumblr media
if you're considering commissioning stingraysuits i say go for it!! 💙
Tumblr media
lasttly heres the og sketch i gave spice compared to Kubo's finished head!

ive been thinking abt this bc im considering attending a furry convention thats happening next month to see what its like... but like
i know ppl are always like 'lol if u like furries ur a furry', but i think theres... more nuance to it than that? i dont really consider myself a furry, even though ive drawn them on occasion, have considered trying to make a fursuit head, ect. why i say that is bc like... i kinda feel like 'being a furry' is partially a bit of community focused, rather than little things like that? its also a bit of a sense of identity as well, imo. i know this is truly a thing of opinion, and someones gonna be like 'lol, welllllll... youre just in denial' or whatever; but... idk. i dont really participate in the community outside of my friends who are furries, i dont personally identify as one, so i dont really see myself as being one? i dont see any reason for myself to be against considering myself one, so its not like im going 'im not bc ew' or some bullshit like that. and maybe thatll change and ill end up considering myself more of one in the future
this isnt really going anywhere, more just. introspective ig. whatever. im gonna go draw one of my ocs as a wolf bc i think itd be funny bc everyone compares him to one

I'm back at it again with my crochet fursuit partial. Took a break for a bit to focus on other things and collect my thoughts. Crocheting a whole fursuit head is just about how hard I thought it would be. I have a vauge pattern for the muzzel, and an even vauger plan for the rest of the head.
Tumblr media
This is what i have currently for the muzzel in the form of prototype 2. I forgot to write down the height of c1 so b1 is a little longer. I do have a way to shorten it however.
The problem with crochet is there is very little way to cut pieces in half. I can't just make a huge sheet and cut out a patern, i have to shape it as i go along.
This process of shaping has in fact, already messed me up.
Tumblr media
This is my first prototype of the muzzle, sewn together with purple so I knew where they are connected. Doing this helped me get an understanding of how to shape my current prototype. I will likely use these pieces as practice for how i will fur the head.
Tumblr media
These are my references, the art(besides the one titled fursona, i drew that myself in mspaint) was found on pinterest with no credit to the original artist. If anyone knows the artists I will gladly credit them. Their photos are the style of fursuit i am doing. I'm just not a fan of the typical fursuit style so I am attempting to create something new that fits me more.

Reintroduction
So I took sort of an extended break from all social media for a while after RL was getting to be too stressful for me. I was still checking in here and there periodically but for the most part I wasn't here or anywhere else. It was for my own health. And coming back now feels like,
Tumblr media
With all the crap that's been happening here on tumblr it's kind of sad but understandable to come back and see so many of the people I knew and interacted with regularly are no longer here. And I'm going to miss them a lot. I don't think anyone who had been with me from the beginning is still here. But that isn't to say I don't still see a handful of my mutuals still here and it's great to see you all. Hi everyone! Thanks for still existing!
But that said, I feel like maybe it's time to start over and rebuild. And I don't mean start over as in somewhere else... More like, reintroduce myself as I go about rebuilding my online presence. So let's start with that. A reintroduction.
My name is Helen Arlet. (Although my full title is, Her Grace The Reverend Dr. Helen Arlet, Duke of Merania, PhD. Yes... It's all legal... I have a title of nobility, a doctorate in metaphysics, and an ordination.) I'm an AMAB Demigirl so my pronouns are she/they. I'm a Gray Asexual. I'm also a self-published author of adult literature most popular within the Furry and Vore communities. You can find some of my books for sale on Amazon but my free content (which actually makes up the bulk of my work at this point) can be found on my eka's account, here...
I'm a furry myself, with my primary fursona being that of a T-Rex, although I do have sort of a "secret sona" that may come to light at some point... Because I often stay very in character when I post I have been mistaken as otherkin before, but so as not to give that community a bad name, I would like to point out that I am not... as far as I know... I am however quite friendly with the otherkin community and love chatting or hanging out with them when I can.
I'm also an old-school punk with very left leaning ideals. I'm... not young... I mean, come on, I'm literally a dinosaur... T-Rex... Rawr! But I'm stuck in that weird area where my status as a gray muzzle in the Furry community is debatable. I have been on tumblr since the beginning though and they still haven't managed to get rid of me. But I am old enough to have actually been a punk in the 80s. A very young one at the time, but I was... and still am...
I had been a librarian for the last decade, but recently lost that job about a year and a half ago when my old boss retired and was replaced by a narcissistic sociopath. And I don't use those terms lightly. I do mean that in the clinical sense... She fired me along with anyone else who was perceived to be a threat to her position, had been there longer than her, knew more than her, was queer, was disabled, or she believed had insulted her in some way. I now work at a used video game store. I won't name it, but it's the second biggest chain of used video game stores behind Game Stop.
And in most recent developments, I now own a partial fursuit, (of my secret sona) and I have finally managed to become a total affront to the church by achieving the status of Ordained Minister, making me one of the very few in my state who will actually perform LGBT+ weddings. Suck it.
Things I will post on this account:
Furry stuff
Vore related content
Dinosaurs
Sharks
LGBT+ stuff
Random reblogs of stuff I find funny or politically important
Posts related to my writing, including links to stories themselves
Answers to any questions I get asked
Tumblr media
So please feel free to talk to me if you want. I'm always happy to talk. (Or silently stalk my account and just reblog things you like without ever saying anything to me. You could to that too...) Or even tag me in stuff you want me to see and I'll probably reblog it.

I now understand why even fursuit mini partials cost so much. This is one of the most difficult things I have attempted to do. You have to havw a masterful understanding of character design and materials and the whole process to be able to deviate at all from the guide you're following... Not to mention it takes forever to carve the foam. I wonder if it's any different with a 3d printed base?
