It's so crazy how built different I truly have to be from others. I share things when I want people to like ask me if I'm okay or if I'm genuinely ranting for the sake of myself bc yk....this is my account and I'm not gonna shy away from posting shit that I want to, but when it comes down to the internet and then one person....I choose the Internet. Bc at least I know the Internet won't actually give a fuck and whatever I say will drown along with everyone else's shit, when you say something to one person you're expecting a certain response because you shared something so vulnerable. I have a hard time opening up one on one but it's SOOOO easy to just write it out on Tumblr or my notes yk? Why is that so hard for everyone else. I really feel like sometimes people js be attention seeking, which in a way is hypocritical. Idk it's just, exhausting to constantly entertain those who clearly WANT the attention rather than need it, there is a difference. Like, I understand certain people can only handle so much. But like why TF is it SOOOOO hard to keep some things to yourself..and then you get upset when people call you out on it. Idfk I must be like normal now bc that shit is fucking weird. Like I "suffer" from the same things as this person and many others but low-key people be blowing ts WAYYYYY out of proportion. Like I get it, it is really hard and sometimes uncomfortable and constant...but it doesn't have to be shared always, especially bc you're so young. Trauma plays a huge part in a lot of mental illnesses, different kinds of trauma really can tick off more violent or intense things, sometimes what you may suffer with can become more frequent. But it gets to a point. Like yes, awareness we love that. But blaming shit on what you "suffer" with, mind you I have the same thing and it's not as crazy as some people make it seem, [yes some people struggle more with certain things] like it's really easy for me not to talk about everything I struggle with mostly bc I fear people will say "well you didn't say this before...." Bc not EVERYTHING needs to be shared... I get that. I'll say how I'm feeling but I won't go into like...even the bare minimum of detail for the fact that it doesn't always have to be shared. Ts is js so annoying to see idfkkkkkm
#fo NOT read this#ts is fucking fake#i hate how much i tried but its not even please myself its that i dont want to entertain people i dont even want to be around#like I witnessed what tou were like first hand snd had the balls to keave but came back bc i thought i needed jt#and it js always felt like it was ab them#like i appreciate the constant asking if im okay nut i couldn't really trust them#so i never said anything#idfk#tired of this#im so tired if like...tbe repeated cycle of people bc why did i just KNOOOOOW this was coming#running away from nothing is so funny#idk whats going on irl tbr#but whats going on online cant mean that much to you#hypocritical but.............#yeah

hiiii! can I request a where reader sleeps over at mark but he wakes with a morning wood for the first time and there both shy and embarrassed cs they’ve never really been intimate like that. js something cute it can lead to smut if you want :))
pairing: mark x afab!reader
w.c: 1.8k
warnings: mdni 18+, established relationship, spending the night for the first time, mark is so sweet oh my god i will cry, reader is shy but bold, pet names, soft mark, he is so in love, mentions of spiderman because well yeah its mark, blowjob, oral (m receiving), vocal mark, implied smut for the future idk, thank you for requesting!! requests are always open ╰(*´︶`*)╯♡
you steadily awoke, blinking your eyes open rapidly, trying to adjust to the sunlight filtering through the window. hot breath graced your hair, tickling your ear, making you squirm slightly in your boyfriends hold. last night, mark convinced you to stay the night, going as far as to admit that the second spiderman movie was superior to the third one (tom hollands spiderman, of course). you never stayed the night at his apartment, the opportunity never arising but the clouds had been crying all day, rain pelting anything in sight. mark refused to let you go home in these conditions, so when you asked him for a ride home instead of walking to the subway station, he suggested you just stay the night.
after bickering back and forth of 'i don't want to intrude' and 'i want you to's', you agreed after mark got onto his knees stating 'what if i said that far from home is the best spiderman movie?' he was giving you a pout with pleading eyes that shone under the light. they were wide and sparkling, it was almost comical but cute and convincing.
'even better than no way home?' you quirked your brow in amusement at the situation unfolding before you. mark was so dramatic and undeniably funny, one of the many reasons why you love him.
he dropped his head in defeat, sighing, 'yes... even better than no way home' voicing his downfall.
after dinner, you both watched a movie tangled together on the couch, eyes growing heavy from the antics of the day. mark turned the tv off and suggested you both head to bed, you promptly asked for a pillow and blanket, staying seated on the couch as he stood up. tilting his head to the side he laughed, 'what?'
your cheeks grew hot in embarrassment, did you say something wrong? 'i thought we were going to bed... i didn't bring a pillow and blanket with me...' staring down at your hands in your lap, you picked at your hangnails.
'baby, you are not sleeping on the couch' mark chuckled, insane that you even insinuated the idea of it. he lightly grabbed your hand, guiding you to stand up with him, 'if you don't feel comfortable sharing a bed, i will sleep on the couch, there's no way you are' he stated, still holding onto your hand.
you nodded, 'i didn't know, we can share a bed' you'd been in his bedroom countless times, he would be working on his laptop while you'd laid on his bed scrolling through your phone, or he would play you a song on his guitar sitting on his bed, back against the headboard as you listened while in his desk chair. so, this should be no different.
he offered you some old clothes, pajama pants that fit you around the waist ever so slightly, but the hems going over your feet. a shirt that was five years old and dared to expose your shoulder from how big it was. it was perfect. cozy, soft, and smelled like mark.
he brought you to his bathroom, he insisted on washing your face and applied way too much moisturizer to your skin, which prompted him to take some off your face and put it on his. it seemed like he had everything you needed, an extra toothbrush, phone charger, and slippers.
once you were finished, he brought you to his bed and opened the sheets for you, gesturing for you to climb in first, getting the spot next to the wall while he took the one closest to the door. he clicked the lamp off, and mark shimmied closer to you, slowly wrapping his arms around you asking 'is this okay?'
you glanced up at him, features more defined under the moon shining through the curtains, 'yes, of course' he smiled, nuzzling his nose into your hair, taking in the scent with a deep breath.
'good night baby,' he kissed your head, 'i love you' you melted once the words hit your ears, it wasn't said often but special every time it was fabricated into the real world.
'i love you too' you whispered, moving closer to him as much as you could, closing your eyes as marks scent filled your senses, his warm body radiating the perfect amount of heat to yours, soft sheets that hugged you almost as well as he was. it was hard not to quickly drift off to dreamland.
which brought you to the morning after, mark still having an iron grip tight hold on you and lightly snoring in your ears as you tried to count his breathing. that was until something else caught your attention, mark brought you in closer, shoving his nose into your neck, pulling your body flush with his. you could feel something hard on the back of your thigh and if your suspicions were right then this could get interesting. you and mark had not been that sexually involved... yet. stating he had wanted to take his time with you, that he would be ready whenever you were. never going further than making out and scandalous touches over each others bodies. you didn't mind and it seemed like he didn't either as he never pressured you into doing anything more, but you had been ready for a while, the conversation just never coming up. it seemed like sex wasn't that important to either of you.
you stirred as his nose tickled your neck, causing him to wake up, long eyelashes batting as he tried to fight the sleepiness away. 'mornin' baby' he yawned, voice low and groggy. you smiled up at him, stealing glances at his face under the warm glow of the sun peeking in through the curtains.
'mmm' you giggled, 'don't yawn, you're gonna make me yawn' of course watching him do just that triggered a yawn out of you which made him laugh, grabbing you tighter and shaking you in rhythm with the sound. and now being so close made you feel his morning wood again, which made you freeze in his hold
he noticed the way you seemed to tighten your muscles and go stiff, 'what's wrong baby?'
you blushed, should it be brought up? did you want to embarrass your boyfriend like that? it was kind of hard to ignore it... 'oh, um, it seems like you have a problem' you slurred out the last words, hoping he would pick up whatever you were putting down.
dropping the ball completely your words were lost on him, 'oh?' you shifted your leg, making his move in response, eyes wide in shock 'oh' he finally picked it up.
his ears were already hot in embarrassment, your chest caved in its secondhandness, and you now feel bad that you brought it up. 'i-im so so-' he started, moving away from you, face now wearing a pink hue.
you grabbed his wrist, bringing him back closer to you, 'i-i could help you...' whispering, 'if you want' heart beating so fast from the suggestion, half excited, half anxious.
'oh, you really don't have to' his smile faltered, 'i can take care of it in the bathroom or something.'
your occasional innocent facade cracking, 'i want to, please' giving him the best pouty face you could muster.
he sighed and moved towards his pillow, back now slouched against the headboard, his eyes darkening with lust, 'only if you want to babe, i can't refuse you'
you smiled at the green light, climbing on top of him, grasping both shoulders in your hands, you leaned in. he tilted his head to the side, allowing easy access for your lips. he still tasted like the toothpaste you had used last night, exploring his mouth with such delicacy, taking your time with him. lightly grinding your hips down onto his groin made him moan into your mouth. a string of curse words leaving his lips in a raspy tone, still trying to overcome sleep.
making sure to kiss the moles that adorned his face, you then moved onto his neck, sucking light bruises into the sensitive skin. mark let out wanton moans, always vocal in the best ways, a sound you could listen to for the rest of your life.
you continued to move backwards until your reached his crotch. the bugle defined in his pajama pants making your mouth water, you always imagined what it would look like, your boyfriend was too handsome and sexy for you not to sometimes picture moments like this before bed or in the shower.
you reached for the waistband of his pants and underwear, pulling them both down together, sitting them near his thigh. his cock sprung free from its confines, lightly slapping against his toned stomach. 'so pretty' you said more to yourself than to him. you grabbed it and pumped his member up and down, mark sucked in a breath, eyes shut due to the bliss.
you brought your head down, mouth closer to the red, bulbous tip. you gently licked a strip up the shaft, testing the waters before diving in head first. literally.
mark groaned again, bringing his hand to your head, tangling his fingers into your hair, grasping lightly. you went ahead and took him into your mouth, easing his member in inch by inch. he didn't push you but guided you through it. 'fuck baby, that feels s-so good' he gasps, chest moving up and down rapidly.
once your nose touched his pubic bone you started moving, bobbing your head up and down sensually before your movements grew faster. mark jerked his hips into your mouth, making you choke a bit, 'i-i fuck i'm sorry' he blabbered, gripping your hair tighter. you moaned around him, making his body vibrate in response.
the wet sounds and marks panting filled up the room, breaking through the silence of the morning. it was absolute debauchery. you could tell he was close, fingers holding your hair like a vice, the other hand grasping the sheets, eyes staring at you through thick eyelashes as he watched you suck his dick.
you sucked in harder, cheeks caving in as drool pools into your mouth and around marks thick cock. 'o-oh my god, baby, just like that' the praise making you go faster, wanting him to reach his high soon due to the ache in your jaw and between your thighs.
you brought your hand up to grasp whatever you didn't put into your mouth, moving hit in tandem with your mouth, mark cried above you, whimpering that he was coming to come soon. you moaned again not stopping, the quiver leaving him to groan vehemently.
hot liquid filled your mouth as you tried to swallow all of his come. some of it dribbling off of your chin and onto marks thighs, he panted above you, as you pulled off of him and wiped your mouth. moving back down to pepper kisses over his thighs, lightly sucking to make your mark on him.
lust overtaking him completely, forcing you up back to meet his eyes, 'my turn' he growled out.

Here I request a damian x sunshine! fem! reader where reader is extremely passionate about art and everything magical. She loves translating whimsical visions into paint and flowery scenes too!!! Despite her extremely bubbly personality, her precious smile falters when people complement her works and she ends up stiff and avoiding eye-contact. Pair that with a tsundere Damian and I see sm fluff and cuteness><!!!! If u have the time ofc:D!!!... Otherwise, have a lovely day!! or night... x3!
I can absolutely make time. (I'll admit, I did have to look up tsundere because I'm not heavy into anime aside from a few shows, but I know now!)
---___---___---___---___---___---___---___---___---_
Damian Wayne would HATE a sunshine reader at first. The over the top, bubbly, smiling appearance annoyed him to no end.
School was beneath him and had been since he was in middle school. He thought he had grown to at least be able to tolerate it by the time he was a senior in highschool, so close to escaping it. Maybe his father would finally accept that he didn't need futile lessons when he already had an IQ higher than Einstein.
But then, in his very last year, he was thrown one last curve ball. A perky, energetic, irritatingly happy girl who somehow managed to be in every single one of his classes.
How anyone could be sitting with her done and her clothes pressed, thrilled to be alive at 7 am for Political Science, he didn't know. He certainly had no interest in it.
She always raised her hand to answer questions and always got them right, too. His only real interest was the art program he had right after lunch.
It was just his luck she was there too, sitting right next to him, humming while she spread her paints on the palette, mixing colors. It took at his willpower not to tell her to shut up. He figured she'd stop at some point.
The humming persisted until her brush actually hit the canvas, then, it was dead silent. He glanced over, confused by how she had miraculously shut up for basically the first time since 7 am. Her eyes were focused on the canvas, watching the paint smoothly spread over it. He looked over again and again throughout the class, noticing the way her forehead crinkled and her teeth sink into her bottom lip while concentrating.
He scowled, though, when the teacher complimented her painting, claiming it was "Bright, but had a hidden depth to be explored." Unlike his, which was. "Very dark and telling of his thoughts."
That annoyed him a bit, but not for long because it was replaced by confusion when she just shrugged meekly, avoiding the teacher's eyes. She did that a lot, he soon found after watching her a bit more instead of making a conscious decision to stop ignoring her entirely.
He saw her cheeks redden when the teachers said her answers were right or congratulated her on a text. He noticed her looking down at her desk when a classmate said something along the lines of asking for her help because she was doing really well in the subject. He saw her bury her head in her locker, pretending not to hear when guys asked her out.
Eventually, he was just too damn curious and after yet another football player got shot down, she took a breath, lifting her head out of her locker right before Damian slammed it shut with his hand.
He leaned against the locker beside it, his arms crossed, asking what was wrong with the guy for her to reject him. "Aside from the obvious lack of brain cells and the fact that he's on a one way track for steroid addiction and early balding, of course."
She snorted a laugh, covering her face as it reddened, before clearing her throat and replying. "Just wasn't interested."
"Who are you interested in, then?" He couldn't help but ask. "You've turned down the jocks, the nerds, the supposed bad boy who is a Mama's boy in disguise, and the suave poet who left notes in your locker. Not many cliques left. So, you're clearly not finding anyone who's your type. What js your type, anyway?"
Her lips quirks. "Are you stalking me, or something?"
No. Of course not. He had way better things to do. But...it wasn't like he wasn't bored out of his mind during school hours since he already knew everything in every class. So, maybe in a way, he was watching. Slightly.
"You're not interesting enough for me to bother," he retorted with no real bite. "You are a bit of an enigma though. I don't like those."
"Sorry. Not trying to be," she promised just shrugging. "But if you ever want to try to figure it out, go for it."
So, he does. He could easily run a background search, but that wasn't how he wanted to do it. No, he'd rather figure her out by himself.
During class, he paid special attention to her notes, taken with a pink pen, mostly covered in doodles of flowers and mountains, or a forest of some kind with a creek.
She, he admitted to himself, was quite good. Even better with paints during art class. He started asking questions, starting off easily.
"Why those colors?"
"Is there a memory attached?"
"Did you have a sketch to go off?"
Then, he started catching up with her at lunch, because it was the best time to really grill her.
"Why did you move to Gotham?" "
Where are you from?"
"No siblings, I'm sure, because you don't ever text or talk about one."
"You look allergic to carrots, since you keep picking them out of the salad during lunch. That or you just hate them. Which is it?"
He'd occasionally slip up though, without realizing, by starting a question with a compliment.—"Since you're good at art, I assume you've practiced since you were a child." The tips of her ears burned red and he frowned. "Why can you never take a compliment?" He asked.
"I can, I do," she defended.
"Yeah, but not well. You get all...weird about it." His voice was a bit less accusatory and more gentle.
She shrugged. "Just don't like them."
He couldn't understand that. Everyone liked compliments. It was the reason the world was polluted by attention seekers looking for praise.
"How come?" He pushed.
"Just don't," she insisted.
"Don't really feel like they're accurate." He hummed. "So, you have low self esteem despite your annoyingly perky attitude, then," he surmised.
Her eyes widened. "I do not!"
She definitely did, he knew then and there by her reaction. Her cheeks got redder, flushing to the point it looked like heavy blush and she stormed off, leaving her salad.
He ate the carrots, nodding to myself. He had finally figured her out.
But, for some reason, that wasn't enough.
He thought he'd be satisfied, but he wasn't. If anything, he felt a bit bad for pushing so hard when she clearly didn't like attention despite always being the center of it, just by being herself.
The next time they had art class, he complimented her painting, just to see her blush. It was really quite cute. So was she. Not that he could admit it.
He did it again and again until she was frustrated and he was amused, asking her to just admit it, which she finally did when they were alone in the classroom after it was let out.
"Fine!" She exclaimed. "Yes, I have low self esteem. I don't like compliments, they make me feel weird."
"That's called validation. You get it because you're good at things," he told her, his voice completely sincere despite trying to be sarcastic.
She held her arms, avoiding his eyes like she always did when she got a compliment. "Great, I'm competent. Doesn't mean people have to say."
Damian frowned a bit. "Humans are hardwired to say what we see. Just like we're designed to see what we say. But you don't do that part. You never see the reason behind all those compliments," he explained.
She scoffed lightly and it was perhaps the first time he'd ever seen so much attitude from her. "I see plenty. Students who want to walk all over me like a door mat because I'm nice and every guy just want to date me to say they've done me—" "
That is an incredibly crude thing to say about yourself," he interrupted. "Not to mention entirely untrue."
She rolled her eyes. Again with the attitude. It seemed she really was capable of it when she was fed up with something or he supposed someone. Him.
"Oh, please, spare me," she muttered sarcastically.
"I'm serious," he repeated. "That's untrue. Some guys, yeah, maybe even most. Definitely the dumbass football guy who is failing homemaking somehow. But plenty of men, who actually know how to be respectful, would appreciate you. And for more than your looks, as well."
"Oh, the sparkling personality, you mean? The one you think is a facade."
He had thought that. At first.
He sighed, clicking his tongue and shaking his head. "It's not a facade, but you have more layers than that." Her head tilted so he elaborated. "There's more than just the pink pens and highlighters, like the study method you use to scribble and write simultaneously for better retention rates. You're naturally bright, probably a B average if you didn't study, but you do."
"So?" She wondered.
"So," he parroted. "You make A's because you have a strong work ethic. Because you come from a family who prioritized it, maybe even to the point you were almost neglected from how often they were gone because you always seem fine going last, or getting whatever scraps you're handed inside of fighting for anything else."
She frowned, not at all liking to hear that. Not only because it was slightly true. Alright, definitely true. But also because it was something she worked to keep hidden.
"I thought you said I don't put up a facade?" She countered.
"You don't. You're happy, and bubbly, always looking on the bright side and that's not a ruse. It's who you are," he clarified. "But you can still get angry, frustrated, annoyed, especially when your character is called into question. Clearly."
She didn't know how to feel about the tone in his voice during that last part. "You can stop, now."
But he didn't. He didn't want to. He'd spent so long trying to figure her out and he was so sure he had done that he was his work to pay off, for her to admit he was right or at the very least hear what he had to say, even if she didn't want to say it was true.
"You're not vain about your looks, even though you could be without effort because you're easily the prettiest girl in this entire school."
Those words came out of nowhere, especially the last few. But he had said them and there was no taking them back, even if he wanted to.
It was silent for a while.
"You really are a stalker," she quipped quietly, looking to the floor.
He huffed in annoyance. "Take the damn compliment," he insisted, stepping closer to her, lifting her chin. "Look in my eyes, not away and just accept it."
He waited, to see if she'd push him away or let him compliment her. He swallowed, suddenly feeling the urge to go red as well, but refusing to allow himself to.
"Fine," she agreed in a whisper, locking eyes with him. That alone was clearly already hard, but she was trying. "You're not just the most beautiful girl at this stupid school," he muttered. "I think you could quite possibly be the most beautiful I've ever seen at all. Especially with that blush you seem to hate and hide."
Her cheeks got redder, her lips twitching to avoid any sign of emotion and it was clearly hard for her to look away, hating the level of attention. "It's not cute, it's utterly embarrass—"
"Don't try to refute it either," he interrupted, shaking his head calmly. "Just...just accept it. Please."
He said please. God, he hated doing that.
But it seemed to work and she gave a small nod, finally listening.
He nodded back, letting go of her jaw, stepping back and clearing his throat.
She stared for a bit, before grabbing the rest of her things and leaving him alone to blow out a long sigh, mentally cursing himself for that entire exchange. Perhaps even getting curious about her in the first place.
But then, a second later, she walked back in, the flush less prominent on her cheeks and ears. It was replaced by the look in her eyes, which seemed rather determined despite a bit of apprehension.
"You asked me, like six weeks ago, what my type was," she reminded him.
His eyes narrowed, recalling the conversation. The first time they ever actually had one. He meant it mostly as a quip or some dig. "Yeah, considering you've turned down like 3/4 of the boys in this school. Plus a few girls, for that matter."
She huffed a laugh, gripping the books in her arms closer to her chest and nodding. "Yeah, well, they weren't my type, you were right," she confirmed causing a bit of a smug expression to cross his face. "I didn't even really know I had one, but uh- I think I might."
He raised an eyebrow. "Oh, yeah?" He questioned, adding another quip. "Let me guess, older guys. You've been giving the math teacher eyes all week."
She shook her head firmly. "No, definitely not," she told him. "I'm pretty sure my type is the weird, stalker boys who are actually really sweet."

The Thousand Sunny drifted through the final tunnel, water glistening against its protective bubble as Fishman Island came into view.
“WOAAAH!” Luffy yelled from the deck, eyes wide. “It’s so shiny!”
“I can’t believe it’s real!” Chopper spun around.
Robin smiled behind a hand. “The architecture here is said to be older than the Grand Line itself.”
“I heard the royal family is pretty generous,” Nami added. “If we play this smart, we could stock up for weeks.”
But Luffy? His mind was somewhere else entirely. Or rather, on someone.
He leaned against the rail, a soft smile tugging at his lips.
“I wonder if they’re here…”
“LUFFY, GET BACK HERE, YOU CAN’T JUST–!”
“NAMI!, I SMELL MEEAAT!”
He was already gone. Sprinting like a man possessed through the bustling bubble streets of Fishman Island, eyes wide, tongue out, arms flailing in glee.
“Captain,” Robin said with a small smile, “seems excited.”
“He's always excited,” Zoro muttered, arms crossed. “But this time he’s extra stupid.”
Brook hummed thoughtfully. “Yohohoho, I wonder if the meat will marry him too.”
“Wait, did you say marry?” Usopp blinked. “Oh yeah! Didn’t Luffy say he was married once?”
“…Didn’t we all think he was joking?” Franky asked, brows raised.
“Yeah,” Chopper added with a little snort. “He said something like ‘I already got a wife, and they’re way stronger than all of you!’ and we just laughed.”
The crew exchanged glances.
“…You think he was serious?”
MEANWHILE.
Luffy skidded around the corner, bonking a coral lamp post with his forehead. “Ow–!”
“Still no sense of direction?”
He froze.
That voice.
He knew that voice like the back of his hand — or the taste of meat. Slowly, his wide eyes turned toward the source.
There, standing with arms crossed and an eyebrow raised, was you.
Stoic, calm, one eyebrow raised, and totally unamused as always.
“Y/N!!” Luffy beamed, bolting toward you. “Y/N Y/N Y/N! YOU'RE HERE!!”
Before you could scold him, he’d wrapped you in a tight hug that nearly knocked you back.
“Still a hugger as usual, huh?” you mumbled, eyes softening just a bit.
“Missed you! SHISHISHI,” he grinned into your shoulder.
“You saw me six months ago,” you said, deadpan.
“Yeah!, but that’s like…so long!!”
You sighed, though your hand was already resting on his back, grounding the chaotic ball of sunshine that had stolen your heart all those years ago.
“…You never change.”
FLASHBACK - Windmill Village
“You’re so noisy.”
“C’mon Y/N, let’s go punch that tree again!”
Putting your book down, you sat with your arms folded, watching as young Luffy jumped up and down with excitement, a stick in his hand like it was the strongest sword in the world.
“We’ll get stronger together! Then we’ll go on adventures and eat meat every day!”
You blinked. “That’s your dream?”
“Yup! What’s yours?”
You shrugged. “I don’t have one.”
“Then make one with me!”
You raised an eyebrow. “Make a dream with you?”
He nodded seriously. “We can share. Like best friends. Or… like married people!”
“…That’s not how marriage works.”
“Then I’ll change the rules!”
You stared at him.
“…Fine.”
“Hey, Y/N.”
“What now.”
“If we ever get married, can I still eat meat at the wedding?”
You looked up from your book. “Obviously. I won’t marry someone who doesn’t love meat.”
He blinked, surprised. “So you will marry me?”
You went back to reading. “Didn’t say I wouldn’t.”
His heart exploded like fireworks.
BACK TO PRESENT
“Wait,” Sanji whispered from the side of the plaza, crouched with the rest of the crew behind some candy-colored seaweed. “Is that them?! MELLORINEE~~”
“THEM?!” Usopp whispered. “You know them?!”
“I’ve heard rumors,” Sanji sighed dreamily. “That’s Y/N — calm as the sea before a storm. Feared in the Grand Line and cold-hearted~"
“Yeah, but they’re…” Chopper tilted his head. “Letting Luffy carry them like a backpack right now.”
“Are they… cuddling?” Zoro’s eye twitched. “In public?”
“I’m SUPER! emotionally confused,” Franky muttered.
“Yohohoho,” Brook said softly. “So our captain is… married.”
“And he was serious,” Robin added, intrigued.
Luffy still hadn’t let go. You were currently being dragged around the island as he loudly pointed at every fish-person, street food stall, and bubble coral with endless excitement.
“Look, Y/N, look!! That octopus is playing drums!!”
You nodded. “Mm.”
“And that shark guy has THREE swords!”
You blinked. “Impressive.”
“Oh! That candy shop sells meat-lollipops!! Want one?”
“…Fine.”
He gasped, eyes shining. “You said yes! You never say yes to candy!”
“It’s for you, dumbass.”
He beamed so hard it could’ve powered the Sunny.
LATER, WITH THE CREW
“LUFFY!!”
He turned mid-bite of his meat-lollipop. “Huh?”
“WHAT. IS. GOING. ON?!” Nami shrieked.
You were sitting beside him, sipping seaweed tea calmly. “Can I help you?”
“YEAH, YOU CAN EXPLAIN HOW YOU’RE—MARRIED TO LUFFY?!”
He tilted his head. “I told you guys already.”
“YEAH BUT YOU SAID IT WHILE EATING A SEA KING LEG!!”
Franky pointed dramatically. “That’s not the time for SUPER confessions, bro!”
You raised a hand. “We’ve been married for years. It’s just not something we flaunt.”
“…You married Luffy. As in legal.”
“Technically yes. I still have the officiation snail photo. Luffy drew a mustache on it.”
“HE LOOKED SO FUNNY!! SHISHISHI” Luffy grinned, remembering it fondly.
“WHAT ABOUT YOUR PERSONALITY?! YOU’RE THE COMPLETE OPPOSITE!” Usopp flailed.
You stared at him. “What about it?”
“I dunno!! It’s just… Luffy’s sunshine! You’re like… moonlight. That can kill people.”
Zoro finally snapped. “Okay, no offense, but how do you even deal with him?”
You sighed, placing a hand over Luffy’s head as he practically melted beside you.
“…I’ve dealt with worse than a meat-goblin with a hero complex and zero sense of personal space.”
“That’s me!!” Luffy said proudly.
Robin giggled. “You really are opposites.”
“They’re so cool,” Sanji whispered, nose bleeding. “They’re scary. But like, in a hot way~”
“Are you crushing on our captain’s spouse?!” the crew hissed.
“Can’t help it~”
LATER THAT NIGHT ON THE SUNNY
You sat at the edge of the deck, legs dangling above the water, watching the glowing sea beneath.
Luffy flopped beside you, resting his head in your lap like he always did when the sky was quiet.
“You’re really okay with all this attention?” you asked, fingers brushing his hair.
“Mmhmm. Why wouldn’t I be?”
You raised an eyebrow. “You never cared about showing people.”
“I didn’t think I had to. You're mine. That’s already the best thing ever.”
Your hand paused. Then resumed slowly.
“You’re still dumb.”
He grinned. “Yeah, but I’m your dumb.”
“…Yeah. You are.”
He yawned, curling closer. “Remember the promise we made?”
“Which one? You made a lot.”
“The one about sharing dreams.”
You looked up at the stars. “Yeah. I remember.”
“I still wanna do that. Even if it’s dumb. Even if I die trying.”
You tapped his forehead.
“You won’t die. I’ll kill anyone who tries.”
NEXT MORNING — FISHMAN ISLAND MARKET
“I WANT TO BUY THAT ONE!”
“Luffy, that’s a pearl the size of a cannonball.”
“I WANT IT!!”
You pinched the bridge of your nose.
“Luffy, if I have to carry another crate of your ‘souvenirs’ I will drown you.”
He gasped. “Y/N!! That’s mean!”
“…You like that.”
“I DO!”
“Ew, please stop flirting where I can hear you,” Nami groaned as she walked by.
Zoro muttered, “Every time I think they’ll kill each other, they end up flirting again.”
“Do you think they’ll ever kiss in front of us?” Chopper asked innocently.
Sanji's eye turned into fire. “NO WAY! I'LL KICK YOU! YOU DAMN MONKEY!!!"
“Luffy, stop licking the pearl.”
“You know,” Robin said later that evening, watching you drag Luffy back from trying to arm-wrestle a sea king, “they’re oddly perfect together.”
“Opposites attract,” Franky nodded.
“They’re like fire and ice,” Brook added.
“More like hyper gremlin and emotionless murderbot,” Nami muttered.
“…Still somehow works,” Zoro said.
Sanji sobbed. “WHEN WILL MY TURN COME?!"
.
.
— A FEW DAYS LATER
“Hey, Robin,” Usopp whispered as the ship cruised along the current.
“Yes?”
“…Do you think we should throw them a wedding party?”
She sipped her tea. “I think if you try, you’ll die.”
“Right.”
“Besides,” she added, glancing at the couple watching the sunset at the bow of the ship, Luffy wrapped around you like a sleepy octopus, “I think they already had the only wedding they needed.”

You didn’t see shit.
pairing — erik campbell x fem! reader
summary — you’re julia’s best friend
warnings — cursing, making out, getting caught by ✨bobby✨, erik bribes him to stfu tho
a/n — i have one more idea for an erik ff after this one and then i will do billy and carter from fd1 <33 yall are free to message me requests for characters tho, js put a summary of what you want the fanfic to look like. all final destination characters are welcome!!

You were halfway through laughing at something Julia said when Erik sauntered into the room like he wasn’t the human equivalent of a traffic violation. That cocky smirk already plastered across his stupidly punchable (and unfortunately hot) face.
“Damn,” he muttered, eyes dragging from your thighs to your lips like he was trying to memorize your measurements by sheer force of will. “Didn’t know Julia had hot friends. You always look like that?”
Julia groaned instantly. “Erik, no.”
He leaned on the kitchen counter like he owned the place, tossing an apple from hand to hand like he was being casual, but everyone knew better. His voice dropped into that low but casual tone he used when he was being deliberately inappropriate. “I’m just saying. If I knew this one was around, I would’ve stayed home more often.”
Julia’s face scrunched like she’d eaten a lemon. “She’s not interested.”
“You sure?” He glanced at you, grin slow and lazy. “Doesn’t look like she’s complaining.”
You fought the smile tugging at your lips. Erik caught it, winking at you. Julia stood between you two now, arms crossed. “Literally go die.”
Erik snorted. “Can’t. I’m the cool sibling. I’ve got plot armor.”
Julia threw a spoon at him. He caught it midair, didn’t blink. Still smirking. That smirk that said: I definitely mean it.
Later that day, Julia had gone upstairs to grab something later that day, promising she’d “be back in two seconds,” which was apparently all the time Erik needed to find his way back in your personal space.
He leaned forward, palms flat on the counter on either side of you, his breath hitting the curve of your neck like something deliberate.
“I’m gonna say something,” he said lowly, his voice rough like it’d just rolled out of bed, “and you’re gonna tell me to fuck off.”
You turned slowly, finding him closer than you expected, close enough to see all the tiny healed scars from the piercings he changed his mind about and took out.
“Didn’t Julia already tell you to leave me alone?” you asked, but your voice betrayed you, just a little more curious than cold.
“She did,” he said. “But I’ve got this thing where I don’t listen to her.”
“Oh, shocking.”
“Look, you’re her best friend. You’re sweet. Smart. Probably way too good for the kind of thoughts I’ve been having since you walked in.”
Your breath caught, barely but enough for him to notice. His grin curved, slow and shameless.
“See?” he said softly. “You felt that too.”
You shook your head, stepping back until your hip hit the counter. He followed, didn’t touch just looked. Held your eyes like he was trying to find the flicker of permission. Like he was testing the line to see if you’d let him cross it.
“And what if I told her?” you asked.
He laughed, one of those careless ones that made your stomach flip in a good way. “You won’t,” he said, certain. “Not unless you want her to know how long you let me stand here.”
You exhaled, smiling a bit. “You’re impossible.”
“And you’re still not walking away.”
He leaned in, slow enough to give you time to stop him—which you didn’t—and brushed his lips against your jaw, just a ghost of contact. Barely anything. But it burned.
“You tell me when to stop,” he murmured. “Or you don’t.” Before you could answer, footsteps pounded on the stairs.
Julia.
He pulled back in an instant, grabbing a slice of pizza off the counter like nothing had happened. Smirking to himself like he’d won something. And when Julia walked back in and rolled her eyes at him, he just said, through a mouthful of crust. “We were just talking about you.”
You decided to sleep over for whatever reason that night, too lazy to walk back home and Julia gave you her bed.

Jk, she would never, she made you sleep on the couch like she was punishing you for indulging her brother.
The living room was half-dark, lit only by the blue glow of the muted TV and the tiny strip of moonlight bleeding in through the blinds. You were on the couch, curled under a blanket, phone long forgotten at your side. Tank top loose, one strap slipping just slightly. Legs stretched out, bare and warm against the worn leather cushions.
You hear someone coming downstairs and, of course, it has to be Erik. No shirt, all tattoos on display. Hair tousled like he hadn’t even tried to sleep. Those damn silver piercings glinting faintly in the dark.
He stood at the edge of the couch, eyes skating down the length of your legs without shame, his jaw slack with something both lazy and playful.
"You're in my spot," he said finally, voice lower than usual, like the hour required secrecy but his intent didn’t.
You didn’t move. "You weren’t down here."
“Doesn’t mean I wasn’t planning to be.”
He dropped onto the other end of the couch like he owned it and stretched his legs out until his foot casually nudged yours. The contact was small, insignificant. But he didn’t take it back. He just let it linger.
You shifted under the blanket. He watched that too.
“You always stare like that?” she muttered, trying to keep her voice level.
His head tilted, one arm thrown over the back of the couch, muscles lazy, confident. “Only when I wanna see what you’ll do about it.”
There was a beat of silence. Heavy. Tense. Loaded.
Then he moved slowly, like the moment had been waiting on him, until he was closer. Close enough for his knee to bump your thigh. Close enough that she could smell him, faint cologne and the stubborn smoke that always clung to his skin. His fingers ghosted along the blanket near your hip, barely brushing fabric, but intentional.
You should’ve shifted away. Should’ve told him to back off. Should’ve said Julia’s upstairs. But your body betrayed you… okay, it didn’t, he was hot as fuck.
He leaned in, slow enough to be deliberate, lips brushing just shy of your jaw. His breath hit warm and even across your skin, his voice a whisper now.
“You gonna tell me to leave?”
Your fingers curled into the blanket, tighter.
He chuckled under his breath, low and full of mischief. His hand came up, brushing your thigh through the blanket, fingers spread like he needed to feel just how warm you were under there.
“You’re real quiet now,” he said, eyes flicking up to meet yours. “That mean I can stay?”
Your breath caught. And then you nodded. He dipped closer. His mouth brushed the line of your collarbone, lips soft, breath hot, his hand sliding just beneath the blanket now.
The couch groaned softly beneath you as you shifted, and your knee bumped his thigh, bare skin on bare skin. That was all it took for Erik to settle his hand at your waist, pulling gently, testing you.
And he kissed you. Not all at once. He started near your throat, barely-there kisses that felt like secrets, like confessions. Then up along your jaw, near the corner of your mouth, just hovering, giving you time to pull away.
You didn’t.
So he claimed your lips like he meant it.
It wasn’t gentle. It was heat and hesitation, all twisted up. Teeth. Tongue. The press of his body against yours, as if he’d been holding himself back all night and finally got permission to start losing control.
And even in the middle of that kiss, Erik smirked against your mouth. Because he knew he was winning.
He eventually pushed you back, climbing on top of you. You were soft under him, lips flushed, eyes dazed, that little noise you made when his teeth caught your lower lip nearly making him lose the last ounce of restraint he had. Erik wasn’t good at waiting. Not when he wanted something. And right now?
He wanted you under him, under that stupid blanket, moaning his name like it meant something.
Your legs shifted to either side of his hips, his hand sliding under the hem of your tank top, palm hot on your stomach as your breath hitched. You tugged him closer by the waistband of his pants, and he groaned, forehead dropping to your shoulder as he laughed through it.
“Fuck, if you keep doin’ that—”
Footsteps.
The stairs creaked.
Erik froze. You froze.
And then—
“…Hey?”
Erik looked up like he’d been shot. "No."
Bobby stood in the hallway in basketball shorts and a hoodie, hair a mess, holding a half-eaten Pop-Tart and blinking like he just walked into a war zone.
Erik was still on top of you. Your tank top was wrinkled halfway up your chest.
Bobby just blinked again.
“...Are you guys wrestling or something?”
You scrambled back, yanking the blanket up to your chin like you were about to enter witness protection. Erik nearly tripped over his own legs as he got up, adjusting his waistband like it owed him money.
Bobby squinted. “Wait. Is that Julia’s—”
“NOPE!” Erik bellowed, launching himself across the room so fast he almost tripped. “Bobby. Bobby, look at me. Right here. Look in my eyes. You didn’t see shit.”
Bobby backed up, Pop-Tart still in hand, eyes wide. “Dude, I literally just came in for water, what the hell—”
“Shut up,” Erik hissed, grabbing his brother by the shoulders. “Listen to me. I will buy you so many protein shakes, you don’t even know.”
“What were you—were you guys hooking up?!” Bobby’s voice cracked halfway into the question.
Erik slapped a hand over his mouth. “She fell. I was catching her. With my mouth. Shut up.”
Bobby made a strangled wheeze. “Jules is gonna kill you—”
“No she’s not,” Erik said quickly. “Because you’re not gonna tell her. Because you love me. Because I gave you your first beer. Because I didn’t tell Mom when you got that illegal tattoo that looks like a bruised banana.”
Bobby was still blinking, still confused, but Erik could see the cogs turning, gears clicking into place.
“Are you gonna bribe me?” Bobby asked, hopeful.
“Yes. I will bribe you so hard, you’re gonna forget you even have a sister.”
There was a long beat of silence.
Then Bobby shrugged.
“Okay. I want the good chicken nuggets. And your Netflix password.”
“Done.”
Bobby beamed. “Love you, bro.”
“Yeah, yeah, whatever.” Erik shoved him back toward the stairs. “Don’t come back for water. Dehydrate.”
As soon as Bobby disappeared upstairs, Erik turned back to the couch, hair disheveled, still a little breathless, and fully flushed from the chaos.
You were still under the blanket, staring at him like he was insane.
“Don’t look at me like that,” he said, flopping down beside you again.
“You bribed your brother with chicken nuggets.”
“I bribed him with silence and loyalty, thank you very much.”
You snorted, and he smirked, his fingers already sliding under the blanket again.
“Now,” he said, voice low and smug, “where were we?”

what if rafe and reader are more than friends but they didn’t really put a label on it and even top and kelce noticed but rafe still has the occasional hookup and one night when reader was js thinking abt stuff and then she realizes that shes inlove with rafe but when she came over to tannyhill to confess and rafe answered with his hair all messed up and him shirtless and he basically smelled like sex and when rafe asks why shes there she randomly just runs away and cries in her car while driving home so basically just angst (does that make sense idk)
you feel like your going crazy, standing at tannyhill’s front stoop twiddling your thumbs.
your relationship with rafe cameron is complicated; you’d almost call it a situationship, but you couldn’t put a label on it. you’d been going to all of his parties to serve as arm candy, posed with him at the golf course, and hooked up with him more than once. it’s beyond casual, but he has yet to pop the girlfriend question. even with his little commitment, you’d been finding it hard to keep your mind off of him — or rather, what the two of you had done together. you have to mean more to him than he’s letting on.
so, you knock on tannyhill’s giant glass front door again, biting your lip nervously as you look over the texts you’d already sent him to let him know you were coming.
“hey! just thinking ab u.. are u free tn? <3” you asked right after work, hopping in the shower in hopes you could head straight to his place after.
“busy. work shit. u free on friday?”
“oh idk. sucks we cant do tn, i miss u.” you followed your message with a picture of you sitting on your pink bedsheets, posing in the mirror to show off your silky pajamas. you thought he just needed a little convincing, but he didn’t respond.
“can u call me before bed? sorry, i know u said ur busy.”
by then it had been an hour or two, still no response from rafe. you were pacing around your room. all you wanted was to spend time with him, even if that meant lounging around while he works. anything would do, you just couldn’t stay away.
you came to the conclusion had to show him how much you care somehow, and what better way than to go to tannyhill and confess your love for him — it would be like a romance movie, he’d probably be exhausted from work and happy to see you by then!
“i’m sorry if this is sudden, i just feel like i really need to see you. i’ll just drop by for a second xoxo see u soon”
suddenly, the front door swings open, revealing a very disheveled rafe cameron. his bangs are a mess, sweaty and strewn across his forehead. his whole face is red, his lips swollen, and all he’s wearing are blue flannel pajama pants. you’d seen him like this before, pussy drunk and stumbling around a dark room. your heart deflates as he pushes open the front door, familiar blue eyes squinting at you through the night. “the fuck are you doing? you’re gonna wake up my fuckin’ dad.”
“work shit, huh? really, rafe?” you snap, looking him over completely disgusted. “what’re you d—”
“nah, nah. i told you i was busy — did i not?” he cuts you off, holding a finger in your face and grabbing your upper arm with the other hand, making you jump. “could’a kept yourself from all this if you just listened to me, right? right?” he jostles you, like he could shake a response out of you, but you’re frozen. he lets you go at the sight of your face, squeezing the bridge of his nose. “fuckin’ figures.”
“are you.. high?” you pull your knit cardigan tighter around your shoulders, tears already beginning to brim your waterline at the utter betrayal.
rafe recoils, acting overly offended to take the heat off his obvious cheating. “you’re gonna talk to me like that at my own goddamn house? do me a favor — go home, and i’ll think about callin’ you.”
“don’t bother. asshole.” you cry, turning away. the last glimmer of hope you have is snuffed out when you hear the glass door slam behind him, leaving you alone once again.
defeated, you retreat back to your car, wiping your tear stained cheeks pitifully. you should have known, rafe cameron is a player.
➺ do you…

— ✩♬ ₊˚. same boat ⭑ M.S

˚⟡˖⋆ synopsis while visiting her hometown, megan is reunited with you, the childhood crush she’s never truly gotten over. as her feelings grow stronger, fear makes her pull away, until a late-night breakdown leads to the confession she never thought she’d say out loud.
disclaimer : fluff 🙌. mutual pinning. megan skiendiel x childhood friend!fem!reader. slight angst (not really..just some overthinking). idk guys… megan js gives me lizzy mcalpine vibes 😣
currently playing same boat - lizzy mcalpine
megan hadn’t been back to honolulu in over a year, and everything felt too familiar and too foreign at once. the breeze still smelled like plumeria and salt. her old bedroom, still full of her childhood posters, felt smaller now. her mom still made spam musubi first thing in the morning, like megan hadn’t grown up and flown across the world.
but this time, she wasn’t alone.
katseye had landed in hawaii for a much-needed break. the girls were staying at a nearby beach resort, all sunburnt smiles and windblown hair, thrilled to finally meet megan’s infamous hometown. and all megan could think about was you.
you, the childhood friend she never got over. you, who she hadn’t seen since she left for los angeles . you, who were apparently also home visiting family.
and now, according to her mom, you were coming over. with your family. for dinner. tonight.
“megan’s gonna freak,” manon said, leaning over the kitchen counter. “you talk about her all the time. i thought she was a myth.”
“i don’t talk about her that much,” megan muttered, trying not to burn the tofu sizzling in the pan.
“megan,” yoonchae deadpanned. “you once wrote a whole verse in a demo about her eyes. we had to cut it because it was too obvious.”
the other girls laughed. megan blushed, hiding her face behind the cabinet door.
“she’s just…important, okay?” megan mumbled. “we grew up together.”
daniela tilted her head. “important like ‘first love’ important or…?”
megan didn’t answer. she didn’t have to. they already knew.
—
you showed up with that same shy smile megan remembered from when you were thirteen, all sun-drenched and soft-voiced. she hadn’t realized she’d missed your voice until she heard it again.
and the rest of katseye? instantly loved you.
“you’re the y/n?” lara asked, eyes wide. “the real y/n?”
you laughed. “depends on what megan’s told you.”
“she said you saved her from drowning once,” sophia chimed in. “but that she jumped in after a beach ball, so maybe it’s not as dramatic as it sounds?”
“she exaggerates,” you teased, nudging megan gently as you passed her a plate. “she was fine.”
the night blurred into stories, grilled fish, and ukulele strings echoing in the background. you sat beside megan on the porch steps, just like you used to when you were kids, watching the stars.
and she was overthinking again.
you looked older now, but still familiar. her heart squeezed when you laughed at something daniela said, when your eyes lingered on hers a little too long. did you know? could you tell?
maybe you were just being polite. maybe you didn’t feel the same. maybe megan had made it all up in her head…again.
—
the days after, you started hanging out with the group. going on hikes, lounging on the beach, late-night snacks at megan’s, karaoke that got too loud. you were a perfect fit. everyone saw it. everyone but megan.
because something was shifting inside her and she was scared.
the second or third time she caught herself staring at you for a little too long, she panicked. she was used to liking you, sure—but this? this was different. the feelings were louder now, older and sharper. you weren’t just a memory to hold onto, uou were right there, laughing in her passenger seat, falling asleep in her mom’s living room, humming along to her favorite songs.
she liked you. bad. and it was terrifying.
so she started pulling back.
by day four, you noticed.
at first, you thought maybe she was just tired. but then it kept happening. she stopped walking beside you on hikes. she avoided eye contact during group dinners. and when you texted her to hang out, her replies got shorter.
“rain check,” she said one evening.
that was it. no smiley face. no promise of tomorrow.
you stared at your phone for a long time, fingers tightening.
had you said something wrong? crossed a line?
that night, you stayed late at megan’s house while everyone else was watching a movie in the back. you wandered into her room, fingers tracing the books on her shelf, the polaroid pictures still hanging above her mirror. then you saw her in the hallway, eyes locking with yours. you smiled. she froze.
then she turned and walked away.
megan ran.
she didn’t mean to. she just… couldn’t be there anymore. the air in the house felt too thick. she couldn’t look at you and pretend she was okay. so she left. quietly, slipping out the back door, sandals in hand, feet hitting the sand without thinking.
the beach was nearly empty, moonlight casting silver shadows across the tide. megan sat down, knees to chest, trying to calm the pounding in her head.
why couldn’t she just be normal about this? why couldn’t she just tell you?
because she was scared. scared that if she confessed and you didn’t feel the same, she’d lose you completely. scared that maybe you were just being nice, and this was all one-sided. scared that her feelings would ruin everything.
“megan?”
she whipped her head around.
you were standing there, barefoot, breathless, your hair falling over your shoulders. you walked toward her slowly, eyes wide and hurt and confused.
“did i… do something wrong?”
megan’s mouth opened, then shut.
you sat beside her, arms crossed tightly over your chest, voice smaller this time. “you’ve been avoiding me.”
“i know,” megan whispered.
you blinked, waiting.
megan looked down at her hands, digging into the sand. “i didn’t mean to. i just… i got overwhelmed.”
“with what?”
“with you,” she snapped, then instantly looked away. “i mean—god. just—everything.”
you didn’t say anything. so she kept going. words spilling too fast, too raw.
“i thought i was okay. i thought i could just be around you and pretend it’s nothing. that it’s just nostalgia or whatever, but it’s not. it’s not. i like you, y/n. i like you and it’s driving me crazy and i didn’t want to ruin anything so i just started acting weird and now i’m ruining it anyway and i hate that i can’t just be normal about this but you’re just—god, you’re you and—”
“megan.”
she stopped.
you leaned in. quiet. sure.
“i like you too.”
megan blinked, stunned. “you- you do?”
“i thought i was being too obvious,” you admitted, smiling faintly. “but you were too busy spiraling.”
megan laughed, hands shaking, face flushed with relief and disbelief. “so i didn’t screw everything up?”
“not yet,” you teased. “but you came close.”
you both laughed then, softly. and when megan looked at you, really looked at you, moonlight in your hair and the ocean whispering behind you, she felt steady for the first time in days.
“i don’t want to lose you,” she said quietly.
“you won’t,” you promised. “you never did.”
so she kissed you. right there on the sand. the kind of kiss that felt like home, like healing, like something that had been waiting for years.
and for the first time since coming back to honolulu, megan wasn’t overthinking.
she was just... finally living it.
—
megan woke up with sand in her hair and sunlight warming her face. the sound of waves still lingered in the background, but softer now, gentler. you were curled up beside her, head resting on her shoulder, arms wrapped around your knees, both of you still in last night’s clothes.
she didn’t want to move.
everything from the night before felt surreal. your voice asking “did i do something wrong?”, the way her panic had spilled out of her, and your calm answer: “i like you too.”
her heart had been on fire, and then you’d touched her hand, and suddenly, she could breathe.
now, with the ocean stretching out in front of you and your fingers loosely laced with hers, she felt it fully. the quiet kind of happy. the kind that settled in your chest and didn’t ask questions.
“hey,” you whispered.
she turned her head. “hi.”
you smiled, lazy and sweet. “we slept on the beach.”
“i know.”
“my back hurts.”
“mine too.”
but neither of you moved.
later that morning, when megan walked into the kitchen of the beach house, barefoot and still sandy, the girls were already awake, half-dressed for a beach day, eating fruit straight out of the fridge. daniela was wearing megan’s hoodie. lara was using a butter knife to aggressively cut a mango.
manon was the first to notice. “she returns,” she said dramatically, bowing. “where have you been, miss skiendiel?”
“yeah,” sophia added, squinting. “we thought you got swept away by the tide or something.”
yoonchae narrowed her eyes. “you didn’t come back last night.”
megan blinked. “i—i was at the beach.”
“with who?” lara asked, tilting her head. then a beat passed. “wait. with who.”
megan looked down, cheeks flushing.
and then the room exploded.
“no. no way,” daniela shrieked, dropping a slice of pineapple. “you kissed her?”
megan tried to say something, but sophia clutched her arm and gasped. “she kissed her. she’s not denying it!”
lara screamed into a towel.
yoonchae smiled softly. “finally.”
megan hid her face in her hands as the girls circled her like sharks who smelled blood, but the good kind. the best kind.
“we’ve been rooting for this for months,” manon said. “honestly, i’m relieved. i was tired of being subtle.”
“you weren’t subtle,” megan muttered.
“details,” she waved off.
then, through the noise, you stepped into the kitchen holding two iced coffees, one for you, one for megan.
everyone went quiet.
“oh,” you said, glancing around. “did i… walk into something?”
megan walked over, took the coffee from your hand, and, before she could think too hard, kissed your cheek.
“nope,” she said softly. “perfect timing.”
the girls screamed again. megan laughed into her drink. and for the first time in a long time, she wasn’t running from anything.
she had everything she needed, right here.

I chose you
pairing: Wednesday Addams x Fem Reader!
summary: When Wednesday transferred to Nevermore, the school lacked the fiery hostile attitude Y/N always spat out, perhaps a change of heart. But frankly, it never left in the first place. Wednesday frequently hears of the comments about your temper all around nevermore—it's like living hell, they said. Well, she thinks otherwise.
A/N: okay hi, long ass "summary" but short ass oneshot, sorry, so readers ability? ignition touch, anything the reader touches can be ignited on command. Mhmm makes this less boring lmao, dk if the story still needed it tho. (w and r are dating!)
warnings!: reader's a big ass bully (but an absolute baby) to basically everyone LOL (idk this js sounded so fun to write, dk if others would agree), use of curse words (ton of them), arrogant reader idk
Masterlist

One way to make Y/N's blood boil was simply looking at her wrong, asking her stupid questions that held no common sense whatsoever, and definitely bumping into her, accidentally or not. You're in for one hell of a ride, you'd think she's kept that attitude bottled up all night, but the thing is, that temper doesn't die down easily. First thing in the morning, once you see her passing by the hallway, even just a glance, she surely wouldn't notice, right? Well you'd be entirely wrong.
Because after that glance, she'd be all up on you, no matter what.
"The fucks with you, huh? Got something to say, stoner?"
"Look at me like that again and I'll fuck you up, one on one, mermaid."
"I'm not entitled to control my anger because I don't care, you mutt!"
You were ignorant, an absolute arrogant jerk who looks down on everyone, literally. You may have been a high-achiever, sure but you were boastful about that too, you were better than everyone in the school premises, even Bianca Barclay has presumed you are.
Egoistic and all, you were top of the class, every class you took you outstood, even the teachers took accountability of the mistakes you mentioned about the way they educate.
Weems wasn't all too scared of you, she didn't have any reason to be, obviously, you basically saw her as a mother-figure, and you respect her too much to actually do something rebellious in the school. You've always said empty threats, from the very beginning, you claimed it as being bored all the time, so you rile up the students just for the hell of it. Hopefully that was why you were constantly high up your ass, although you've always wondered how Weems don't nag your ear off about your behaviour.
Then the goth gore girl came, you didn't think much of it, more so even glanced at the name of the introduction of the girl. However, it took you by surprise how the new girl stood out from the others, not that she tried, she just did. You had wanted to take a harmless nap in the middle of the class, but then you heard it, a question from the teacher that was quite tricky to answer. Plainly you wanted to show off, not like anybody expected less, it just runs to your veins like a satisfying clink of glass wine to brag about your brains.
Then, a beat. Before you could lift your head, you heard an unfamiliar voice that belonged to none other than Wednesday Addams herself.
Even after she got the answer correct, you'd still wonder how deep thought her response was, it wasn't indifferent to yours, but it definitely was something else. And that's all it took to get you hooked by the raven-haired beauty.
—
When Wednesday met you, you weren't uptight, you weren't intense nor did you act like a hardheaded maniac that all inside them was fined with anger complaints.
You were chivalrous, courtly and noble, totally the opposite of what people imagined you were to be in a relationship. Shocking.
But, you were committed, of course you were, and that felt like a stroke of luck for the Nevermore students, satisfaction. No more angry mob of knuckles so early in the morning welcoming violence, no more flaming wide arms trying to wager students with fist fights, or in a more unbalanced and prejudiced way—a lit of fists with the opponent stuck with non-magical hands, and definitely no more sharp tense stares that can bury you six feet under in under a second.
There wasn't a day where Wednesday had to question anything with you, she's now too smitten to care less about you. Today's just the start of a trial in understanding you better.
—
Wednesday was reluctant on following a panting Enid, tho the pup insisted that it was important, her hand hovering over Wednesday's while she had her brows scrunched, clearly annoyed.
"Touch me again and I'll have your limbs fed to your fellow pack of werewolves."
"Okay! Chill out! I can't breath- Y/N's.. well she's okay but these students were interrogating her and–"
Well that was all it took to have the goth girl stride all the way to her beloved who was apparently in some type of crisis.
"Quad!"
And she was full on sprinting, all the thoughts in her head were full of you, all of you. If you were okay, if you were still breathing fine, god forbid Wednesday gets none historical days.
"Y/N."
The way she says your name was like capturing you with cuffs that were too tight on your wrists, her voice so evident it made you halt.
There you were, standing with rage and destruction. The way she sees your eye twitching, your ball of fury hung in the air ready to strike another punch, the other hand of yours scooped on the collar of the student who obviously had the guts to say anything in the first place.
The image itself was disturbing enough to make someone run away and sob. Honestly, a random student passing by would probably do that.
"Wednesday..I– I'm.. Look I—!"
You stumble on your words. You never do.
Wednesday didn't need to say anything, she just huffs and turns but doesn't move until she hears your boots drawing near.
She doesn't wait for you to say anything else tho, that's when you knew you were in a tough spot.
Wednesday wasted no time, after you both got into your dorm, she immediately tends to your wounds that would soon make bruises all over. Your bloody knuckles, your busted lip. Of course she mildly thought you looked sophisticated, but you didn't need to know that. She's supposed to be upset with you.
"I didn't... start the fight."
Wednesday let out a hum, urging for you to proceed while she gently nurtures your injuries.
"They said something about you.", your voice wavers, on the public's eye it probably wouldn't have been anything serious, but to Wednesday? It was every feeling that she felt when she heard your voice that way, the ache in her chest was undeniable. It was everything she's ever loathed.
"That you were only with me now because.. you've never really seen me so pissed off. And well, it got to me, I know it shouldn't have but what if it were true?"
Oh, how Wednesday's cold heart ached.
Wednesday gave out a light sigh while still caring for your wounds, the way her fingers suddenly twitched every time she heard your voice quiver, the way she just wants to embrace you till everything feels better, till her everything feels better.
And that's just what she did.
Her light touches meant so much to you that if someone were to ask you what your weakness was? It would be Wednesday Addams.
"Ever since I've been held captive in this hellhole, trying to get out of this place, then I saw you, yet I didn't care. You saw me and thought it would be easy waltzing your way into my life."
It wasn't supposed to be funny, but it was. Well, to you. Your ego was so high up, her barrier broke just for you.
"Allowing you in my life may not have been a conscious decision at first, but choosing you to stand by my side was a deliberate and genuine one."
You sobbed into your lover's arms, pulling her impossibly closer to you, afraid if you let go, she'll vanish on thin air.
"And I will remain by your side, not out of obligation, but simply because I choose to, because I chose you."
She was never planning to let you slip away—not now, not ever.
______+______
A/N: short and bad ik ugh i need to be on my A game next time, but anyway.. hope u enjoyed

you could barely hear your own thoughts in the crowded club. the music pounding in your ears along with your the light buzzing in your bones was making you feel sick, and you wanted nothing more than to leave.
“you should come.” your friends told you when they mentioned coming to the club earlier that day. they said itd be good for you, that you needed to loosen up and have a little fun.
at first you wanted to refuse, but after thinking on it (and your two friends begging) you decided it wouldnt hurt to come. they were right, you did need to have a little fun.
so here you were now, sitting at the club bar alone, on your fourth drink of the evening, regretting even coming at all. you rubbed your temple as you checked your phone, sighing at seeing that you had only been there for an hour. fuck, why was time going by so slow?
you were just about to order another drink when you saw someone sit down next to you in the corner of your eye. “negroni, please.” he met your gaze, a smile playing at the corners of his lips. “and for the lady..” he dragged the last word out as he gave you an expectant glance.
you were a little stunned at first, surprised that he was offering to buy you a drink, and a little flustered by himself. you blink your attention away from the man, looking at the bartender. “oh, um.. ill just do whiskey.” the bartender nodded before moving away to help the people on the other side of the bar.
the man sitting next to you gave you another smile, breaking the silence between you two. “i hope you dont mind. you seem a little startled.” he said, rubbing the back of his neck.
you blinked, realizing he meant you were staring. partly because you were a bit startled, and partly because the guy was hot. really hot. maybe your friends were right, maybe this is what you needed.
“o-oh.” you say, shaking your head and laughing nervously. “im sorry. i just didnt expect anyone to come up to me, let alone buy me a drink. so thank you..?” you tilted your head as you dragged your last word out, urging him to say his name.
“hoseok.” he said, taking his glass that the bartender handed to him, and handing you yours.
hoseok. thats a nice name. and he seemed like a nice guy. thats usually hard to find in places like this.
“im y/n.” you say, taking a sip of your whiskey. you felt a little shy all of a sudden. you didnt want to mess this up.
“y/n.” he repeated, as if he was testing it on his tongue. “thats a pretty name for a pretty girl.”
youd be lying if you said that didnt make you want to smile. yes, that phrase might be overused, but somehow when he said it it didnt sound corny. or like he was trying too hard. it just seemed natural.
you smiled at him, hoping he wouldnt notice how flustered that simple sentence got you. “thank you.”
as you guys continued to talk, the time finally began to start moving, and your earlier nervousness faded away. so it wasnt really a surprise when you ended up dancing with hoseok.
you had only known hoseok for about an hour but it felt like you knew him for a year, maybe more. the way he talked to you, looked at you. like you were so important. it made it easy to get lost in him.
and he was a great dancer. a really fucking good one, it was like the music flowed through him when you were together. you never thought someone could sexy dance so well, but here he was.
you wouldve almost thought you were in a dream, the way your night instantly turned around as soon as he made an appearance. maybe hes like a guardian angel, you thought. protecting me from all these drunk assholes who would have bothered me.
hoseok leaned down and whispered something in your ear, the pounding of the music mixed with the alcohol making you unable to hear him. he repeated himself.
“do you want to get out of here?”
hell yes, you did. you nodded eagerly, his hands moving from your waist before one of them grabbed your hand and started to guide you off the dance floor.
then another hand wraps around your free wrist, yanking you out of hoseoks grip. you turn around to see who the fuck did that, ready to slap them.
but then your eyes land on his face and your stomach drops.
no.
why is he here? how did he know you were here?
why were you surprised? it was like he was always where you went. no matter how much you tried to avoid him, he was always there. you tried to remove him from your life, but the grip he had on it was too strong.
two months. you broke up with jungkook two months ago. but he wouldnt let you go. and deep down, a part of you knew it was your fault. because you kept letting him slither his way back into your life. because every time you saw him, it always ended the same. and of course, that night was no different.
“do you really think i’d let another guy fuck you?” jungkook rasped, his hips ramming into you from behind.
you whined in response, fingers clutching at the leather of his car seat. you wanted to say something, anything.
he had yanked you away from hoseok, all the way out of the club, ignoring your protests and weak attempts to pull away. he didnt stop until he shoved you into the backseat of the car, not even speaking a single word before his lips were on yours, already working at your clothes before you got a chance to say anything.
“dumb fucking slut.” he mused, fingers digging into your hips harshly as he watched the way you fell apart under him. he wanted to engrave the image in his brain forever.
he honestly couldnt believe you were about to let another guy fuck you. see you in the way only he could. touch you the way only he could. the thought of it made him push his cock deeper into you, your eyes rolling back from the feeling.
“youre mine. and mine only. you know that. dont know how many times i need to fuck you to get that in your dumb head.” he punctuated his last words with harsher thrusts, as if he was trying to prove something to you.
you whined again, nails digging further into his car seat. “f-fuck you..” you whimpered out, turning your head so that your cheek was pressed against the seat, looking at him behind you.
fuck, you were a mess. and you were all his. nobody elses. definitely not hoseoks.
jungkook smirked at your weak insult, slowing down his thrusts. “baby, you need to stop acting like you hate me.” he murmurs, his smirk growing as he sees you struggle to form words.
“i-im not pretending- shit, i do hate you.” you gasp out, trying to ignore the way his cock was sliding in and out of you perfectly.
he tilted his head, raising his eyebrows a bit. “really? if you really did hate me, you wouldnt be letting me fuck you right now. unless you dont care who gets to use you, which is what it seems like. you were about to let that guy in the club get in your pants.”
“t-that.. thats not true.” you whine out weakly. you hated how he was right. you didnt truly hate him, otherwise you wouldnt be in this position right now. you hated the fact that you couldnt hate him.
and he knew that he had that effect on you, and used it to his advantage. so every time he found his way back to you, it always ended like this. it was a neverending cycle, and as much as you wanted to remove him from your life for good, a part of you still loved him.
jungkook pulled out of you abruptly, flipping you onto you back. you yelped, not having time to react before he slammed back into you. it was then when you realize how close you were to cumming.
he leaned down, his breathing hot against your face as he panted. “you dont hate me. you love me.” he said, his voice rough. then, it changed to almost desperate, pleading tone.
“fuck, i-i love this pussy, i love you. nobody can even compare to you. youre the best thing thats happened to me, baby. i dont understand how you could just leave me like that. d-didnt you feel the same?”
jungkook was just rambling at this point, like he always did when he got close. his whole demeanor would change and his earlier anger would wash away, getting replaced with neediness.
if you didnt know better you would believe his words. but luckily you did. he didnt love you. he was obsessed, and it led to him not letting you breathe. its the reason you broke up with him in the first place, thinking if you cut it off, it would stop.
but it didnt.
after you broke up, the amount of text, calls, and voicemails he left you was insane. you tried blocking him, but he kept trying. then eventually he stopped, just to find you in person. you had to change your daily routine to avoid him, and he would still find ways to get to you.
“y/n, stop running from me, please. baby, i love you. im sorry, please talk to me. youre all i want. i cant live without you.”
no matter how much you tried to avoid him, or asked him to leave you alone, he wouldnt. then when you tried talking to other guys, is when whatever you would call this started.
“i love you- fuck baby, dont you see that? i cant let you go.” his talking was getting frantic, along with his thrusts, and you knew he was close too.
“jungkook, i-“ he cut off your words by bringing his hand down between you to rub at your clit, causing you to moan out.
“i know, babygirl, i know.” he cooed, his breathing labored against your face. “youre so fucking lucky i need to cum right now, otherwise i wouldve edged you for hours for being a dirty slut.”
you clenched around him at his words, nails scratching at his arms. his hips stuttered, and he let out a loud groan before filling you up, his cum shooting straight inside your fluttering cunt.
you followed right after, your eyes rolling to the back of your head as you let out a moan to match his. he leaned down and cut off your moan with a sloppy kiss, swallowing the small whimpers that followed when you came down from your high.
jungkook pulled out of you with a raspy moan, leaning his back against the car door. he lifted your leg up to stare at your cunt, biting his lip ring when he sees his cum dripping out of you.
it was then when you finally gained your consciousness, and at least a little bit of common sense. you pulled your leg away from him and began to search for your clothes, trying to ignore the way he watched you as you put them back on.
you got out of his car, only saying a simple 'bye' before doing so. and as you walked back to your own, a wave of shame washed over you. because once again, you let jungkook have his way with you. all because you were still in love with him.
you always felt guilty after the fact, but a part of you still felt like it was right, even though it was wrong. so wrong. you should tell him to stop, but you already tried that, and he won't listen. and honestly, you didn't want him to stop. you would let him in your life over and over again, because he could. it was the effect he had on you.

hi, I’m not sure if you take requests but I figured I would leave one. can you do a Katsuki x depressed reader, just him comforting them and whatnot. if you have any free time ofc!
Hii! Thank you sm for sending me a request, I do take them and they are open !!! ^_^
Talk to me sweets

Pairing: Katsuki Bakugou x Fem! reader
Summary: you let your thoughts win and avoid everyone, but the boy who knew you the best wasn’t gonna let it slide past him.
warnings: js fluff and comfort, slight angst, cursing, Bkg might be a bit ooc !!
────────── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ──────────
You wanted to scream, punch, curse but mostly you wanted to cry. all you could think about was all your wrongs, how becoming a pro wasn’t as appealing as it was when you first started attending UA. You felt as if you were falling behind, and that everyone else was so far ahead of you. the days merged with one another and you started to remove yourself from things. You practically lived in your dorm room, only leaving for school and occasional shopping.
Unknown to you this bugged a certain blonde- your boyfriend Katsuki; usually you were all over him, wither it was making conversation or just talking his head off you were always there by him. So by your sudden withdrawal it caused him to worry, not that he’d admit though.
He tried to talk to you but you always made a shitty excuse- what he didn’t know is that you felt like you were holding him back.
“Y/n why are you avoiding me?” He finally caught you walking out of your dorm. “I-I’m not?” You tried to cower back into your room but he caught the door with his hand. “Then what is this.” He said referring to the fact he was prying your door open just to talk to you. “Kat-“ he cut you off, “ don’t ‘kat’ me missy you have a whole lot of explaining to do.” He pushed his way into your room and shut the door behind him causing it to make a swift thud.
That’s when it kinda hit him, he looked around to your room and it was a mess. Clothes scattered, papers everywhere and your bed unmade. “Y/n..” he sighed. “What’s going on?” His usual rough expression softened into a concerned one. “you’re always in here, you haven’t talked to me in days and the only time I ever see you is at school and even then you’re quiet. I’m your boyfriend?” The last line came out as more of a question than a statement which made you swallow hard.
All you could do was just stand in front of him, you felt vulnerable. You weren’t aware that you were ignoring him, you thought it was for the best.
“Kat, I’m sorry.” You let out a broken sob. “I’m not doing good kats, I feel useless. I feel like I don’t deserve to be a pro. I feel like you’re too good for me-“ he pushed you into his chest, hugging you tight. Like he was trying to squeeze out all of your negative thoughts. “Shut up idio-“ he caught himself knowing you didn’t want to be insulted in that moment. “Dont think like that, don’t even say anything like that, you got it sweet girl ?” You didn’t answer, you just cried into his chest. Your arms wrapped tightly around him. Your hands gripped at the soft fabric of his shirt, maybe this was all you needed.
He leaned down and grabbed at your thighs, picking you up and walking to your bed. He sat down with you on his lap as his rough hands rested on the small of your back. You buried your face into his neck, letting your body rest against his. “you can talk to me sweets, I’m not too good for you so never overthink that. I don’t know where you got being useless from but you’re dead wrong. Everyone talks about how much of an amazing pro you’d make so don’t let me catch you saying otherwise you understand?” he rubbed reassuring patterns on your back, knowing that he wasn’t too good at reassuring but he hoped that he at least had gotten you to calm down a little bit. “If it were anyway, you’re too good for me. I want you to know how much you mean to me pretty girl. That all you’re thinking is bullshit.”
After a while, you stopped crying but not for a second did he stop holding onto you. His hands stayed placed securely on your waist, rubbing small circles and whispering sweet nothings until you fell asleep. He didn’t just make you feel better mentally, he made you feel loved.
You stopped avoiding him completely, and it was all back to normal. You were back to talking his head off and clinging onto him, talking about stupid things but to him they weren’t stupid, not if they were coming from you.

just a thought !! but what do u think ‘suki would do if he accidentally hurt reader ? like an elbow to the nose or smth , bc i kid u not that happened with my bf today and he would not leave until i told him i was fine 😭 js thought that katsu wld be an internal emotion wreck ??!
wait i love this omg😭😭tysm for the ask anon this is so cute, your boyfriend sounds like a sweetheart !
your nose stings.
you don’t really know how it happened, but you ended up getting decked in the nose by your boyfriend. accidentally, of course, said boyfriend would rip his own nails of before even thinking of hurting you. however, said boyfriend was also built out of fucking marble.
so it wouldn’t be surprising to say your nose hurt like a bitch.
“ow, ow, ow !” you whine, katsuki channels through confusion, realization and utter fear in about a millisecond. his hands smack against your face.
“holy—shit ! what the fuck’re y’doin’ ?!” his eyes scan all over your face like he’d shot you, and it honestly almost felt like he did. his hands grip at your cheeks. you wince when he presses his thumb to your nose. “ow—i was jus’ g’nna surprise you—ouch, katsuki !”
you pull your face out of his grip but he pulls you back, “stop squirmin’ an’ let me see.” he mumbles quietly, eyebrows furrowed hard. in focus or anger or worry but probably a mix of all three if you knew anything about him.
“holy fuck, why were you sneakin’ around like that, dummy..” you want to roll your eyes about him still trying to scold you, but the tone of his voice is different then when he usually does. he does sound genuinely worried so you want to reassure him.
“i was just trying to say hello.” you reiterate. “suki, i’m fine. it’s already starting to hurt less.” he ignores you and continues to inspect your face.
“nothin’ broken..” he mumbles to himself, thumbing at your nose a bit softer this time. you manage a snort.
“of course not, jesus, katsuki—”
“you’re okay, yeah ?”
“yes !” you giggle, gripping at his wrists. he pouts, studying your face. “it’s already starting to hurt less.”
he frowns even harder “i elbowed the shit outta you.”
“by accident.” you correct, “katsuki, it’s fine.”
“..you’re sure.”
“i’m sure.” you nod, smiling at him to reinforce your point. he squints, then sighs loudly. leaning in to kiss the bridge of your nose, copying the get better kisses you jokingly give him that he always scoffs at but insist you give him without fault. it hurts a bit, but you feel giddy anyway, your smile grows wider.
“don’t sneak up on me like that again, dummy.” he insists “i mean it.”
you cross your fingers together “promise.” you hum, he scoffs, you don’t think he can muster up a roll of his eyes right now since he can’t seem to be able of taking them away from you. he runs his thumb over your forehead.
“if it starts hurting or something, you tell me.”
“katsuki !” you groan, laughing. katsuki doesn’t look amused. not at all.
he growls “oi, i mean it.”
“i got it, i told you i am fine. you’re okay.” it seems that was the reassurance he needed. that you weren’t mad at him to boot. he exhales, shoulders dropping the slightest bit.
“…...you’re positive ?”
“katsuki, i swear to god—”

⊹ 。˚ 𓂃 ♡ PUPPY LOVE ?!
[ navigation ]

pairing : sophialaforteza x brothersbff!reader
synopsis : sophia laforteza spent years convincing herself that whatever she felt for you was just a childhood crush. something she buried the day you left. but then you came back, slipping into her life like you never left at all.
a/n : i wrote more than this lol. this is like the intro ig they in for a ride😛😛. and i js realised i named the guy alex cs i was reading mammamia by @/cinnamanz shout out to bro for making that masterpeice and im sowy 😔. btw making a dani christmas fic idc if its not chrisms im making it vro 💔
when sophia was nine, she was an absolute menace. not in a cool, rebellious way. more like the annoying little sister who wouldn't take a hint. she knew it. her brother knew it. his friends definitely knew it.
but not to you.
during one instance in summer and you all spent your days biking around the neighborhood, playing ding-dong ditch like a bunch of reckless kids with nothing better to do, she insisted on joining in.
her brother had scoffed, “sophie, you suck at this game. you’ll get caught in two seconds.”
she had pouted, “no i won’t.”
the others laughed,”no just stay on your bike.” one of them said. but you just grinned and shrugged, “let her try.” you dismissed them and there’s audible groaning from the group of boys.
and just like that, she had your approval. that was all she needed. she beamed at you. she knew the basic rules of ding dong ditch. ring the doorbell, pedal like hell, don’t get caught. easy. but when it was her turn, nothing went easy at all.
her heart pounded as she sprinted up the porch, her small fingers trembling on the doorbell. the chime echoed in her ears, and as soon as she hit it, she spun on her heel, ready to run. but her foot caught on the edge of the step and in an instant, she was falling.
the pavement met her with a rough scrape, and her knees burned from the impact. a sharp sting shot through her, but the rising panic in her chest drowned out every other sensation.
the porch light flicked on.
her stomach dropped.
she scrambled to her feet, but she was too slow. her brother and his friends had already melted into the shadows, their bikes disappearing into the distance. and there she was, left alone, frozen on the pavement with a bloody knee as the front door creaked open.
she was so dead.
but then, out of the dim light, you appeared.
she barely had time to register before you stepped in front of her, leaning casually against the porch railing like it was no big deal. your expression was calm, as if she didn’t just screw up infront of you.
“sorry, sir,” you said smoothly as the old man peered at you from inside. “wrong house. thought this was my friend’s place.”
sophia’s eyes widened. the man grumbled something about “kids these days” before retreating inside, closing the door behind him with a final thud. the moment the door clicked shut, you reached out and grabbed her wrist, gently yanking her up onto her bike.
“let’s go, sophie.”
she didn’t resist, she simply followed, her legs pumping furiously even as the pain in her scraped knees nagged at her. her heart wasn’t just racing from fear. it was racing because you had come back for her. you turned back and didn’t leave her there. Helpless.
sophia was raging with disappointment and also something else as she pedaled the bike. Her gaze landing on your back pedalling down the neighborhood. when you finally regrouped with the others, her brother was already laughing.
“sophie can’t even ditch properly” “you didn’t even try” “sophie just stay on your bike quietly next time”
sophia’s face flushed, and she hugged her arms to herself as embarrassment and shame mingled into a burning heat along her neck. she wished she could just vanish. then you sighed, cutting through the teasing.
“oh, come on,” you said, your voice gentle yet firm. “she tried her best. cut her some slack. she actually has a conscience. not all of us enjoy terrorizing innocent neighbors.”
sophia blinked, her eyes darting from you to the sneering faces around her. the others groaned and rolled their eyes, but in that moment, she couldn’t care less. all she felt was the overwhelming throb of her heart and a strange, warm flutter deep inside her chest.
the ride back to her house felt different. as you pedaled side by side, she kept sneaking glances at you watching how your hair caught the light in the wind, the slight parting of your lips as you focused on the road. you looked so effortlessly cool, so completely unbothered by everything.
by the time you reached her driveway, the sting in her knees had become a dull ache that reminded her of every fall she’d ever taken. she hopped off her bike and winced, trying to mask the pain.
“hey,” you said, noticing immediately as you slowed down, everyone already left while you stayed behind to ask. “you okay?”
she forced a smile, shrugging off the concern. “yeah, i’m fine.”
but you knew better. you knelt down in front of her, tilting your head as you inspected the scrape on her knee. a messy ribbon of dirt and dried blood tracing along her skin.
“that’s not fine,” you murmured.
before she could protest, you rushed inside dampening a paper towel. when you got back out sophia was sitting on the stairs. “this might sting a bit,” you warned as you knelt in front of her. she braced herself as you gently dabbed at the wound. a sharp hiss of pain escaped her lips, and you couldn’t help but smirk softly.
“baby,” you teased, though there was genuine care in your tone.
her face flushed deeper, and she mumbled, “i’m not.”
“whatever you say,” you replied with a light chuckle, fishing out a band aid out your pocket then pressing the band-aid over the scrape and smoothing it down with careful, deliberate strokes. “there. good as new.”
she stared at her knee, then at you, her wide eyes searching your face.
“what?” you asked, raising an eyebrow.
she shook her head quickly, turning away as if to hide her vulnerability. “nothing.”but it wasn’t nothing. in that tender moment, as she tried to mask her pain and embarrassment, she felt something shift inside her, an undeniable spark that made her heart beat faster. nine-year-old sophia laforteza was completely, hopelessly in love, even if she didn’t fully understand it yet.
sophia still remembers the day you left. it had been a summer afternoon, thick with the smell of cut grass and the distant hum of cicadas. you stood on her driveway, kicking at a stray rock while her brother complained about you moving away, arms crossed like his sulking could somehow convince you to stay.
but sophia? she just stood there, gripping the hem of her shirt so tightly that her knuckles turned white. she wanted to say something. anything. but all she could do was stare at the ground and swallow around the lump in her throat.
you had crouched down in front of her, tapping a knuckle under her chin to make her look up. “hey,” you had said, smiling softly, “don’t look so sad. i’ll visit. it’s not like i’m disappearing off the face of the earth.”
but you did disappear.
there were a few texts at first. pictures of your new neighborhood, jokes she barely understood, casual check-ins. but then middle school started, life got busier, and slowly, inevitably, the messages faded.
before she knew it, you became a memory. a childhood chapter she tucked away, rereading only when nostalgia hit late at night. she convinced herself that whatever she felt back then. that stupid, childish crush was gone.
until one fateful day it all came back. sophia wasn’t expecting her day to be anything special. she was walking down the hallway with her friends, disappointed with her grades on the recent exams, when she saw you.
leaning against a row of lockers, casually talking to her brother like you had never left, like you hadn’t been gone for years. her feet stopped before she even realized it.
“what—”
“no way,” she whispered, heart hammering against her ribs.
you looked different. taller, sharper around the edges. your uniform slightly rumpled, hair messier than she remembered. but the moment you smiled. that same easy, lopsided grin. she felt something inside her lurch violently back to life.
she barely had time to process before you looked up. and the second your eyes found hers, your whole face lit up.
“soph?”
you pushed off the lockers, taking easy strides toward her. laughing. it hit her harder than she thought possible because it was the same.
the world narrowed to just you.
the second your voice cut through the noise warm, familiar, so casually affectionate. it sent a violent jolt down her spine.
“holy shit,” you grinned, stepping forward like this was the most natural thing in the world. “come here, baby.”
baby?
the word crashed into her, loud and deafening, like someone had just rung a bell directly in her skull.
because, god, it had been years since she’d last heard you call her that. since she had been the baby of your little group. the youngest, the smallest, the one trailing behind while you stayed with her and her brother ran ahead.
back then, she hated it.
“i’m not a baby!” nine-year-old sophia had whined, stomping her foot.
but you had only laughed, ruffling her hair and calling her baby anyway, and for some reason. it sounded different coming from you.
so she never told you to stop and now she’s facing the consequences.
her body froze, breath caught somewhere between her lungs and throat. her friends barely had time to react before your arms wrapped around her, pulling her in.
the warmth of you hit her all at once. solid, grounding, impossibly real. she felt everything. the way your chin brushed the side of her head, the slow rise and fall of your chest, the way you smelled exactly how she remembered.
her hands hovered mid-air, uncertain, but her body betrayed her. before she could think, she was gripping the back of your blazer, her fingers curling into the fabric like she needed to anchor herself. because if she let go, if she even moved too fast, she was terrified she’d wake up and this would all be some elaborate, messed-up dream.
her friends were losing their minds behind her. manon’s choked gasp. megan’s loud, “oh, what the fu—” lara grabbing her arm, shaking her violently.
but sophia couldn’t focus on any of it.
because your arms tightened around her just slightly, a slow, lingering squeeze before you pulled back just enough to look at her, hands shifting from her back to her shoulders. your eyes flickered over her face, scanning, like you were checking to see if she was still the same girl from all those years ago.
she didn’t dare move. barely dared to breathe. and then, just like before, just like always, your hand lifted. before she could react, you were ruffling her hair, laughing. “you got taller.”
sophia sucked in a sharp breath.
it wasn’t fair.
how easily you fit right back into place, like you had never left. how you could just stand here, completely unaware of the way her heart had just thrown itself against the bars of her ribs like it was desperate to escape.
she scowled, nose scrunching as she smacked your hand away, even as heat crawled up her neck. “and you got uglier.”
you only laughed, unbothered.
her stomach flipped.
you pouted, tilting your head, teasing. “aren’t you excited? your favorite person is back in town permanently now.”
her favorite person. that's what youve always been. she has a feeling it’s going to stay that way for a long time. she scoffed, rolling her eyes like it didn’t affect her. like you didn’t affect her. “you wish.”
you gasped, pressing a hand to your chest, dramatic as always. “you’re so mean to me.”
“you deserve it.” she grumbled, crossing her arms.
before you could say anything else, another voice cut in.
“wait, hold on—”
manon was staring at her like she had just witnessed the moon landing. her eyes darted between the two of you, a grin way too knowing stretching across her face. “is this the cutie you used to talk about when—”
oh, absolutely the hell not.
“okay, we’re leaving.” sophia grabbed her wrist and dragged her away before she could finish that sentence. “oh, come on!” manon whined. behind her, megan and lara were already snickering.
“wait” lara grinned, “so that was y/n?”
lara finally asked after sophia had dragged them to a more secluded space. sophia glared ahead, jaw locked. “no idea what you’re talking about.”
megan lifted an eyebrow, arms crossed. “liar. your ears are so red”
sophia groaned, picking up the pace, yanking them along with her. the teasing turned into background noise, but the weight of it all settled onto her chest.
you were back. after years of being gone. after she thought she had finally let go of whatever childish feelings she had for you.
except now, she wasn’t a kid anymore, and neither were you. but the way you had smiled at her. so easily, so effortlessly. like nothing had changed. her stomach twisted.
she clenched her jaw and shoved it all down, deep, where it couldn’t reach her.
it didn’t mean anything.
she wasn’t nine anymore.
and she wasn’t going to let you get to her again.
the second tragedy of sophia’s day was sitting at her dinner table. the first, of course, was the fact that she had spent the entire afternoon thinking about you returning like you never left.
which meant she had gotten absolutely nothing done.
calculus? a lost cause. chemistry? an afterthought. all she could do was replay every second of seeing you again. every teasing grin, every laugh, the way you looked at her the same with a little something she couldn’t pinpoint.
and now, as she stood frozen in the doorway, her stomach plummeted.
because there you were. in her house. sitting comfortably at the dinner table, chatting with her dad like you weren’t the reason she had stared blankly at her notes for hours.
“sophia, honey, welcome home,” her mom’s voice cut through her panic. “come sit next to y/n.”
her heart actually stopped. because, of course, there was an empty seat right next to you.
perfect. just what she needed. another excruciatingly painful evening of trying to act normal around you.
she took a breath, squared her shoulders, and willed herself to move. you looked up as she approached, and there it was again. that smile. the one that had derailed her entire day.
“hey, soph,” you greeted, warm and easy, like it was completely normal for you to be here, in her house, in her life again.
she swallowed, nodding stiffly before sliding into the seat beside you. you nudged her lightly with your elbow. “long day?”
sophia forced herself to breathe. “yeah.”
“extra classes?”
“yeah.”
you hummed, picking at your food. “what’s got you stuck this time?”
“calculus.”
“oof,” you winced
her mom perked up at that, setting down her chopsticks. “oh! y/n could help you with that.”
sophia froze.
you? helping her? absolutely not.
“she’s been acing her ap calculus class,” her mom continued, beaming. “it’s perfect!”
sophia clenched her jaw. of course you did. you were always a natural at things you didn’t even try for. meanwhile, she had been drowning in numbers for weeks, getting nowhere.
“maybe you should let y/n tutor you,” her mom added, smiling like she hadn’t just ruined sophia’s life.
great. fantastic. because the one thing she needed less than anything in the world was to spend even more time with you.
“no thanks,” sophia muttered, stabbing at her food.
you gasped dramatically, hand over your heart. “wow. you wound me, baby.”
sophia choked.
her fork slipped from her fingers. she did not just hear that. you did not just say that. again.
she whipped her head toward you, eyes wide, betrayed. but you just grinned at her, all shameless and teasing, like you hadn’t just sent her into a full-blown internal crisis.
and worst of all? no one else at the table even reacted. her parents just kept eating, like this was completely normal.
like this wasn’t the most earth-shattering moment of her life. her grip tightened around her fork, heat crawling up her neck. “don’t call me that.”
you blinked, tilting your head. “what? baby?”
oh my god.
she kicked you under the table. hard. you yelped, nearly dropping your spoon. “hey!”
she scowled at you, but you were still smiling. that same stupid grin, like you knew exactly what you were doing to her.
“take the tutoring, soph,” her brother chimed in. “god knows you need it.”
sophia turned even redder. “this is none of your business!”
he shrugged. “what? your last test score was—”
“okay! fine!” she snapped, fists clenched. she turned to you, glaring. “you. library. tomorrow. after school. no funny business.”
you raised your hands in surrender, grinning. “scout’s honor.” she narrowed her eyes, warning you one last time before turning back to her food mumbling about you being a weirdo.
it has been a week tutoring and sophia convinced it was torture. she had to always keep herself in check and try to not look to stupid infront of you. but what made it worse is you’re so understanding.
its frustrating.
you never made her feel dumb, never handed her the answers outright. instead, you guided her, nudged her toward figuring things out herself. you’d lean closer always too close. tapping the edge of her notebook as you encouraged her to think it through.
and it worked.
somehow, against all odds, she had started understanding calculus. started answering questions in class, participating.
even her friends had noticed.
“no lara …ive had tutoring.”
“what you need to set me up soph, im drowning”
sophia only rolled her eyes and left class with lara calling out for her.
other than the improvement in her attitude during class, sophia absolutely loathed when you tucked her hair behind her ear so you could see her work.
hated the way it happened so effortlessly, like it was something you did without thinking. like it was just natural to reach over, brush your fingers against her skin, and push those stubborn strands back.
her entire body locking up as she tried desperately to keep her expression neutral, to not let you see just how stupidly, embarrassingly affected she was. hated how it made her feel unsteady.
it made her wonder if you had always done this, if she had just been too young, too naive to notice how close you always were, how easy it was for you to slip into her space like you belonged there.
and when your fingers brushed her skin, when you leaned in slightly she could smell that familiar scent of yours, the one that had embedded itself into her memories. she refused to acknowledge the way her heart kicked against her ribs just like she did last time.
she has grown out of it. so she would force herself to react the only way she knew how. with annoyance. with a sharp, “can you not?” or a dramatic sigh as she swatted your hand away.
rolling her eyes as if that would somehow erase the fact that her face was burning. but it never worked. because you’d just laugh it off completely unbothered. and go right back to helping her like you hadn’t just made her feel butterflies.
whats worse is youd be all sweet after, and treating her to something like boba, ice cream or whatever. just because.
“bubble tea?” she had a problem of never saying no to you. pathetic. she thought to herself. but a small voice in her head was thrilled that you asked. she convinced herself it was the after effects of calculus.
the night was windy. the silence was deafening but also comforting to sophia. she could hear barking in the distance that reminded her of her own dogs and how she was going to be with them after.
you and sophia walked side by side. the quiet was only broken when you asked, casually, like it was just another thought that had floated into your mind, “so, you seeing anyone?”
sophia almost tripped over her own feet. she froze for a full three seconds. before she managed to scoff and shake her head. “what? no”
you hummed, hands in your pockets, tilting your head as you glanced at her. “really?”
she frowned, shifting her backpack higher on her shoulder. “why do you sound surprised?”
you gave her an easy smile, and she felt that stupid tingle creep up her spine again. “c’mon, soph. you’ve grown so beautiful—there’s no way no one wants you.”
she could feel heat creeping up her face before she could stop it. why are you saying this so casually. she forced herself to roll her eyes, trying to act unbothered despite the fact that she was literally about to explode on the spot. “shut up.”
you only laughed, completely unfazed by the way she was actively fighting for her life.
before she could even process what was happening, you reached for her backpack, slipping it off her shoulder effortlessly.
“what—” she started, but you just slung it over your other shoulder, adjusting the straps like it was yours now.
you grinned, glancing down at her with an amused glint in your eyes. “this bag is, like, ten times bigger than you, baby. i don’t even know how you’re carrying this around all day without toppling over.”
sophia gawked at you, her mouth opening and closing. she was offended. she smacked your arm as hard as she could, she knew it did no damge to you. but you still gasped, all dramatic, clutching your chest like she had just mortally wounded you.
“wow” you breathed, “why am i getting bashed for doing public service”
“because i don’t need your public service,” sophia huffed, crossing her arms.
you just laughed, adjusting her bag on your shoulder like it weighed nothing. annoying.
the walk to the boba shop was short, just a few blocks away from campus, but sophia felt every single step. maybe it was the way your arm would occasionally brush against hers, or how effortlessly you carried both of your bags like it was the easiest thing in the world. maybe it was the fact that you had called her beautiful like it was something undeniable. she scowled to herself. no. youre not thinking about that.
before the moment could get quiet again, the boba shop came into view, the neon sign casting a soft glow against the pavement. you pushed the door open, motioning for her to go in first, and she absolutely did not feel anything about that. not at all.
the familiar smell of tea and tapioca filled the air as you both stepped inside. the shop was mostly empty, save for a couple of students hunched over their laptops in the corner. the cashier perked up as you approached the counter, giving a friendly nod.
she watched as you stepped up to the counter with effortless ease, ordering like you’d been doing this for years. she didn’t even need to say anything—you already knew her usual. it was something small, something insignificant in the grand scheme of things, but it made her feel something she absolutely did not want to name.
the cashier punched in the order, and before she could even think about reaching for her wallet, you had already handed over your card.
“my treat,” you said, completely casual, like it wasn’t a big deal. “for doing so well in calculus.”
sophia stiffened. you said it like you were proud of her. like it actually meant something. her fingers twitched at her side, the automatic urge to argue bubbling up, but she clamped her mouth shut.
she exhaled through her nose, muttering a small thanks while eyes darting anywhere but at you.
the walk back to campus was calm, the kind of quiet that felt easy. sophia focused on her drink, letting the cold seep into her fingers, every now and then glancing at you as you absentmindedly shook your cup to mix the boba. she hated how natural this was starting to feel, falling back into your orbit like no time had passed at all.
as the campus gates came into view, you turned to her, tilting your head. “you want a ride home?”
sophia shook her head without thinking. “no, it’s okay. basil’s got it.”
you slowed your steps, raising an eyebrow. “soph. he’s gonna leave you stranded for at least an hour” she winced. you weren’t wrong. basil had a horrible habit of showing up ridiculously late. still, she shrugged, acting like it didn’t bother her. “it’s fine.”
you sighed, shaking your head. “c’mon, don’t be dumb. i’ll give you a ride home. i have to pick up something at your place anyway.”
the city lights flickered through the windshield as you maneuvered through the streets. one hand on the wheel, the other lazily adjusting the air conditioning.
its crazy how natural you looked like this. relaxed, the faint glow of passing headlights casting soft shadows across your face. she hated that she noticed.
she looked away quickly, pretending to be very interested in her boba. “so,” you said, breaking the silence, “how’s school been? besides me making you a calculus genius, obviously.”
sophia snorted, shaking her head. “hardly a genius.”
you hummed, shooting her a knowing look. “lara says otherwise.”
“lara?” sophia repeated, trying to keep her voice neutral, but she could already hear the edge creeping in.
you glanced at her, amused. “yeah” sophia knew she was being irrational. knew it was dumb to be irritated by something as small as you acknowledging lara’s existence. but she couldn’t help it. because you were supposed to be hers. you were already invading her space, was it so much to ask that she didn’t have to hear your voice saying someone else’s name?
she took a long sip of her boba, mostly just to have something to do with her mouth that wasn’t pouting like a child. “since when do you talk to lara?”
you laughed, drumming your fingers lightly against the steering wheel. “since she’s in my music club”
oh.
sophia frowned slightly. lara hadn’t mentioned that. she should have known, lara told her everything, and yet somehow, she’d never thought to bring you up? before she could dwell on it, you kept talking.
“she talks about you,” you added, throwing her a quick glance before looking back at the road. “don’t worry, it’s good stuff.”
sophia’s grip tightened around her drink. “…like what?”
you smirked. “like how she overheard the teachers saying you’re almost one of the best in the class.”
her lips parted slightly. what. she didn’t even know the teachers said that. lara never told her. but you knew? how did that make any sense?
she didn’t know what to focus on. the fact that she was apparently good enough to be talked about like that, or the fact that you were the one telling her. she forced herself to scoff, looking away. “tch. what can i say im self made.”
you tapped your fingers lightly against the wheel. “ofcourse you are, you put in the effort. you show up to tutoring, you do practices and you actually care about getting better. you deserve everything good that comes your way.”
her breath caught in her throat.
the words hit her square in the chest, and suddenly, it was hard to breathe. how could someone be this kind? how could you say something like that so easily, like it wasn’t something that would sit in her ribs for the rest of the night?
her fingers tightened slightly around her boba shes surprised it hasn’t exploded and before she could stop herself, her eyes drifted toward you. your profile was illuminated by the city lights outside, jawline sharp, mouth relaxed, brows furrowing just the slightest bit in focus. you looked so… at ease. saying things like this came naturally to you.
because how could she get all the credit when you were the one who spent your free time tutoring her? when you were the one making sure she understood things, guiding her without ever making her feel stupid for free, and still somehow acting like she was the one who had done all the hard work?
she should look away. she knew she should look away. but she couldn’t.
then—
“if you keep looking at me like that, i’m gonna think you’re in love with me.”
her head snapped forward so fast it was a miracle she didn’t get whiplash. “shut up,” she muttered, taking a very long sip of her drink just to avoid saying anything else.
you laughed, amused, clearly enjoying the way she was stunned. “i’m just saying.” she ignored you, staring straight ahead, praying to every higher power that the ride home would be over soon.
as soon as you pulled into the driveway, sophia was out of the car like it was on fire, barely sparing you a glance before disappearing into the house. you huffed a quiet laugh, shaking your head as you followed her inside.
basil was in the kitchen, lazily scrolling through his phone, but he barely got the chance to look up before sophia breezed past him, dropping her bag onto the floor with a little more force than necessary.
“dude, i was just about to head out,” basil said, glancing at her.
“shut up,” sophia muttered, opening the fridge for a cold drink. she needed it with the day she had.
you snorted, leaning against the counter. “yeah, an hour from now.”
basil shot you a look, unimpressed. “why are you even here?”
you grinned, holding up the gaming controller you’d come to grab. “came to pick this up. also, saved your sister from being stranded at school.” basil rolled his eyes dismissing yn.
sophia grabbed a water bottle from the fridge, twisting the cap open as she turned on her heel, fully intending to escape upstairs before she did something stupid.
but before she could make it past the doorway, she felt a gentle tug at her wrist.
she nearly dropped the bottle.
you were still leaning against the counter, a lazy grin tugging at your lips as you looked at her. “my hug as thanks?”
sophia stared at you, her thoughts scrambled. her skin burned where your fingers lightly curled around her wrist. “for what?” she blurted, attempting to sound annoyed, but it came out a little too breathless.
your grin widened. “a week of tutoring and for saving you from sitting around for an hour waiting on basil.”
basil scoffed from the kitchen, but sophia barely heard him over the sound of her own heartbeat.
she hesitated, but you tugged her just slightly closer, tilting your head like you were waiting. expecting.
her body moved before her mind could catch up. stiffly, awkwardly, she stepped forward, wrapping her arms around you in what was probably the worst hug of her life.
but you didn’t seem to mind.
you hummed, warm and solid against her, your arms looping around her shoulders with ease.your comforting scent drowned her receptors.
sophia wanted to shove you. wanted to roll her eyes and scoff and say something sarcastic.
instead, she stayed there for a second too long, breathing you in, feeling the steady rise and fall of your chest against hers and then, before she could completely lose it, she pulled away, muttering a quick, “goodnight,” before practically sprinting upstairs.

rumors had been circulating that alex was planning to confess to sophia at the fundraiser. the very idea made her stomach turn.
she hated alex. he was one of basil’s friends. the one who never missed a chance to add salt to the wound whenever she messed up in front of the group. he made sure she felt like an outsider.
and now, all of a sudden, he liked her?
alex had spent years making her life difficult, and no amount of sudden affection was going to erase that. she wanted to tell him to get lost.
whenever alex pushed too far, you were the one who stepped in, the one who made him back off before things could go too far. you were the only one who ever really seemed to notice when she was uncomfortable, the only one who cared enough to make sure she was okay. and sophia hated the way that made her feel. she hated the warmth that crept in at the thought of you.
sophia groaned, slumping against the lockers as lara dug through her bag. “this is actually my worst nightmare.” sophia scowled, arms crossed tight over her chest.
lara finally glanced at her, unimpressed. “you’re being dramatic.”
“am not.” sophia huffed. “alex is the absolute last person on earth i’d want confessing to me. i mean, the guy made my childhood miserable! he’s a fucking bully and now he suddenly likes me? like, what—am i supposed to just forget years of bullying and fall into his arms?” she threw her hands up.
“i don’t want a confession! all i want is a handwritten apology letter with tears on it”
“who’s confessing to who?”
sophia stiffened. you.
she turned her head just in time to see you strolling up, brows raised in curiosity. the sight of you with hands shoved into your pockets, head tilted ever so slightly as you looked between her and lara.
lara, the traitor, wasted no time in answering. “alex. apparently, he’s planning to confess to sophia at the fundraiser.”
sophia braced herself, expecting you to tease her, maybe even laugh about it.
but instead your expression shifted.
it was subtle. your shoulders tensed just a little, your jaw tightening, something unreadable flashing behind your eyes before you quickly masked it with an easy grin. “oh?” you drawled, but your voice wasn’t as lighthearted as usual. “so, what—he’s just gonna make some big public scene about it?”
lara shrugged. “maybe.”
you scoffed, and sophia swore you rolled your eyes. “you could always just make it clear you’re not interested before he tries anything.”
sophia narrowed her eyes. “what do you care?”
“i dont” you said too fast, you were trying to cut off the conversation before it could lead anywhere dangerous. but then you hesitated, backtracking, exhaling softly through your nose before tilting your head toward her, your voice lowering just a bit. “but you do. and if you don’t like him, that’s kinda annoying, isn’t it?”
she knew you had a point, but she wasn’t focused on that. she was focused on the way your fingers twitched at your sides, the way the muscle in your jaw flexed before relaxing, the way your eyes were carefully fixed on some random spot on the lockers instead of on her.
before she could say anything, your phone buzzed, and you glanced down at it, thumb moving lazily across the screen. “basil said to wait by music room three after school,” you muttered, still half-focused on whatever was on your phone.
lara perked up immediately. “ooh, band practice?”
that finally got your attention. you looked up, smirked, and shot lara a wink before going right back to your phone, like it was nothing. “well see you later.” then you left.
sophia felt it like a physical blow. her stomach twisted, heat creeping up her neck before she could stop it.
that was hers. that wink, that stupid smirk, the teasing lilt in your voice. a jealous feeling clouded her mind.
before she could even think about it, she turned to lara, brows furrowing. “how’d you even know about that?” she tried to sound casual, but there was a slight edge to her voice, one that lara definitely caught.
lara just smiled, slow and knowing, like she was enjoying this way too much. “music club.” sophia clenched her jaw.

for the whole week, sophia couldn’t get a moment of peace. alex had been relentless, hovering around her like an annoying gnat that just wouldn’t go away. he was everywhere. before class, after class, during lunch. and she couldn’t even focus when she was with you.
not because of you, obviously. if it were just you, she wouldn’t mind. but alex had somehow made it his mission to sit with you two every single day, running his mouth and making so much noise that sophia could barely concentrate.
it was finally friday, and she was trying. really trying. to focus on solving an integration problem, gripping her pen just a little too tightly as she stared down at the numbers.
“and then my parents wanted me to go to princeton,” alex droned on beside her, leaning back in his chair smugly. like he belonged there with you two, “but i thought—”
sophia didn’t even look at him. she just clenched her jaw and kept scribbling in her notebook, pointedly ignoring him.
you, on the other hand, were visibly tense. she could tell by the way your fingers tapped impatiently against the table, the way your jaw clenched tight and defined, the muscle flexing beneath your skin.
she hated that she noticed.
alex was still talking. still. he had barely shut up the entire session, and it had been four whole days of him yapping while she was just trying to learn.
you exhaled sharply through your nose and finally snapped, turning to him with an expression so flat it sent a thrill through sophia’s spine.
“alex,” you said, voice edged with frustration. “shut the fuck up.”
alex blinked. “huh?”
you tilted your head, feigning patience, but your tone was anything but. “for the past four days, you’ve done nothing but talk about shit no one cares about while soph is literally trying to learn. do you even need to be here?”
alex scoffed, shifting in his chair. “damn, no need to be so hostile.”
“no, actually, i do,” you shot back. “because you’re annoying as hell and we’re trying to focus. so unless you suddenly became a calculus tutor, fuck off.”
sophia had to bite the inside of her cheek to keep from smiling. the look on alex’s face was priceless. eyes wide, mouth opening and closing like a fish out of water before he muttered something under his breath and stood up, huffing as he stomped off.
you let out a long sigh, rubbing your temples before turning back to her.
“finally,” you muttered. “now, where were we?”
sophia blinked down at her notebook, heart skipping a beat. “integration” she murmured.

sophia woke up to the soft glow of sunlight filtering through her curtains, warming her face. but more than that, she woke up to the sound of music. faint but distinct, a steady rhythm pulsing through the floorboards.
she groaned, burying her face into her pillow for a moment before sighing and pushing herself up. rubbing the sleep from her eyes, she shuffled out of bed, still dressed in her pajama shorts and an oversized hoodie, her hair a mess of waves from sleep.
it was saturday. finally. she’d been dreading the weekend for one reason only. alex’s ridiculous plan to confess at the fundraiser. but after you had told him to fuck off in the bluntest way possible, she was praying he’d finally take the hint and drop it.
but that wasn’t her concern right now. because where the hell was that noise coming from?
barefoot, she padded downstairs, the music growing louder as she made her way to the basement door. it wasn’t just any music. it was live music, the deep hum of a bass and the sharp strum of a guitar.
she pushed the door open and peeked in, blinking at the sight before her.
basil and the rest of the band were scattered around the basement, instruments in hand, deep in the middle of rehearsal. the air buzzed with the sound of drums, the occasional offbeat note, and laughter between takes.
but her gaze landed on you immediately.
you were sitting on a stool, guitar resting on your thigh, fingers effortlessly plucking at the strings. you were focused, brow slightly furrowed, bottom lip caught between your teeth. and god, it was stupidly attractive.
before she could even process that thought, you looked up—and your gaze locked onto hers.
for a second, the rest of the basement faded away.
your eyes flickered down, taking in her disheveled appearance, and then you grinned, that slow, teasing kind that made something in her stomach tighten. “morning, sleeping beauty.”
sophia huffed, crossing her arms, suddenly very aware of how she must look. “why the hell are you playing so early?”
“it’s literally noon.”
she scowled, making you chuckle as you set your guitar down, leaning forward on your elbows. “you mad ‘cause we woke you up or ‘cause you missed half the practice?”
her cheeks warmed. half the practice? how long had you been down here? she glanced at basil, who just raised a brow at her knowingly before returning to tuning his bass.
“whatever,” she muttered, shifting on her feet. but before she could turn to leave, you reached out, catching her wrist gently.
“stay,” you said, softer this time. “we’re almost done, and you can judge our setlist.”
sophia hesitated. the way your fingers curled around her wrist—light but firm—made her brain stall for a second.
but she rolled her eyes, feigning disinterest. “fine. but if it sucks, i’m telling you.”
you smirked, giving her wrist a small squeeze before letting go. “wouldn’t expect anything less from you, baby.” her cheeks immediately turned red.

sophia couldn’t stop staring.
you moved effortlessly, arms flexing as you adjusted the equipment in the truck, the fading sunset casting a golden glow on your skin. your sleeves were rolled up, exposing the lean definition of your forearms, and when you lifted a speaker into place, the wind tugged at the hem of your white button-up, lifting it just enough to reveal a sliver of your stomach.
“soph, get the fuck in the car.”
her brother’s voice snapped her out of it. she blinked, heat creeping up her neck as she realized she had been blatantly staring. jesus christ.
rolling her eyes to play it off, she huffed and strode toward the truck. she was dressed for the fundraiser. her silky top tucked neatly into a fitted skirt that accentuated her figure, her hair styled effortlessly, makeup subtle but effective. she knew she looked good. she just wished she wasn’t thinking about whether you thought so too.
she barely had a second to settle into the truck before you slid in beside her. and then another bandmate followed, cramming into the seat on your other side.
the space was ridiculously tight.
sophia sucked in a breath as your thigh pressed flush against hers. your shoulder bumped into her, and you let out a quiet grunt, shifting slightly. only for the guy next to you to do the same, squeezing you further into her space.
“fuck,” you muttered, glancing down at her. “okay, this is—hold on.”
before she could process it, your arm lifted and draped over her shoulders.
her breath hitched.
“what the hell are you doing?” she hissed, stiffening.
“trying to not breath down your neck,” you deadpanned, tilting your head toward the guy practically squishing you from the other side.
sophia clenched her jaw, but she didn’t shove you off. mostly because you were right. the way you were packed into the truck, this was the only way to make it even remotely comfortable. but also…you were warm. and close. and smelled stupidly good.
your fingers lightly rested against her arm, thumb brushing against the fabric of her sleeve as you got settled. and when you turned your head slightly, murmuring, “better?” so close to her ear, she almost forgot how to function.
she exhaled through her nose, rolling her eyes as if her pulse wasn’t racing. “couldn’t get any worse.”
you chuckled, clearly amused, but you didn’t say anything else. just relaxed into the seat, arm still loosely slung around her. and sophia sat there, unmoving, fighting the urge to lean into you.
the whole ride was oddly comforting. light chatter from the front row with the soft music playing.
the way your fingers absentmindedly tapped against her arm, keeping time with the soft beat of the radio. the occasional hum under your breath when a song you liked came on. the lazy tilt of your head against the seat, eyes half-lidded, relaxed, completely unaware of the absolute disaster unfolding beside you.
she felt trapped. surrounded. every inhale filled her lungs with you. she hated to admit that she liked it.
the truck rumbled to a stop, and sophia barely had a second to process before she felt you shift beside her. your arm, the one that had been slung so casually over her shoulders the whole ride, lifted away, leaving behind a ghost of warmth that sent an involuntary shiver down her spine.
she exhaled sharply. god, she needed air.
but before she could bolt, the door swung open, and basil was already barking orders.
sophia rolled her eyes as she slid out of the truck, stretching her arms over her head, letting the crisp evening air cool the heat simmering under her skin.
the fundraiser was already coming to life around them. the sun was starting to lower on the horizon, painting the sky in warm hues of orange. carnival lights flickered on, illuminating the fairground in a golden glow. the scent of fried food and kettle corn drifted through the air, mingling with the distant laughter of kids running past.
but before she could take it all in, a heavy weight landed on her shoulders.
“carry that inside, yeah?”
sophia scowled at basil, who had just dropped a coiled-up cable over her like she was some kind of pack mule. “are you serious?”
basil only shooed her away. before she could snap at him, you walked past, effortlessly carrying an amp under one arm, a guitar case slung over your back. you shot her a grin over your shoulder. “c’mon, soph, at least pretend to be helpful.”
she grumbled something under her breath but followed anyway, dragging her feet as she carried the cable toward the stage area.
sophia cleared her throat, shifting on her feet. “alright, i’m gonna go find lara,” she announced, directing it mostly toward you and basil as you both worked on setting up. she needed to move, to go, to be anywhere but here—somewhere alex wouldn’t find her.
but before she could slip away, you turned to her, wiping your hands on your jeans, eyes locking onto hers, big wide doe eyes. “hey, you’re gonna come watch us play, right?” almost pleading. like her presence mattered
and god, why couldn’t she say no to you? why was that even a question?
she hadn’t seen you play in years. not since you were kids messing around in her garage, when your hands were too small to reach all the chords properly, when you’d grin at her between strums like you knew she was watching.
and now? now you were standing in front of her, taller, sharper, so much cooler than before, looking at her like it would make a difference if she was there.
she knew she should say something, but her mind was blank, lost in the way you tilted your head, looking at her expectantly.
sophia swallowed. tried to look unaffected. failed miserably.
“yeah,” she blurted out, barely a whisper. then, as if that wasn’t pathetic enough, she cleared her throat and tried again. “yeah. of course. i’ll be there.”
your face lit up instantly, all bright eyes and easy joy, and before she could even process what was happening, you wrapped your arms around her.
your arms were strong but gentle, warm but not suffocating, like you were made to hold her. you smelled like soap and a little bit of sweat from moving equipment, and it should not be as intoxicating as it was.
her hands hovered awkwardly on your back. patting it lightly not enough for you to notice, but enough for her to feel like she was about to melt straight into the ground.
then, just as quickly as you hugged her, you pulled back, grinning.
“awesome,” you said, still holding onto her arms for a second before finally letting go. “i’ll look for you in the crowd.”
she just nodded, not trusting herself to speak. and then scurried away to find lara and get alex out of sight, out of mind.
-
after what it seemed like minutes of having fun with her friends. the sun started to set slowly. and that was her que to leave. “gotta go guys” she said amongst the laughter.
“what. why so early?” megan perked up. “shes going to see her hot rockstar girlfriend” said lara with a smirk.
lara’s smirk deepened when sophia didn’t immediately deny it. “oh my god,” she drawled, nudging megan. “did you see that? she hesitated.”
sophia’s eyes widened, heat creeping up her neck. “i did not hesitate.” megan gasped theatrically, pressing a hand to her chest. “you totally hesitated.”
sophia groaned, shoving at lara’s shoulder. “she’s not my girlfriend.”
“yet,” lara shot back smoothly.
“shut up,” sophia muttered, but her ears burned.
her friends weren’t letting up. “nah, this is crazy,” megan grinned. “you got all dressed up just to go watch her play, huh?”
“that’s- i always look good!” sophia stammered. They were so annoying.
lara sighed dramatically, shaking her head. “it’s okay, soph. we get it. the effortlessly cool guitarist, the stage presence, the stupidly hot arm veins—”
before lara could even finish her sentence, sophia was already looking the other way, walking to the stage. she didn’t even turn around. she just flipped them off as she walked away, which only made them cackle harder.
sophia could already feel it before she even saw you—the buzz of anticipation in the air, the excited murmurs from the crowd, the way her pulse started to pick up as she pushed through the sea of people. and she finally got a good spot in the middle.
and then you walked onto the stage.
and sophia completely forgot how to breathe.
god.
the warm tones of the sunset traced every sharp angle of your jaw, the slope of your nose, the stray beads of sweat along your temple. the silver rings on your fingers caught the light as you flexed your hands, rolling out the tension before picking up your guitar. your sleeves were haphazardly rolled to your elbows, exposing the lean muscle of your forearms, your collarbones peeking through the loose neckline of your button-up.
you looked unreal.
her breath stalled in her throat as she watched you tilt your head back slightly. her fingers twitched at her sides, like some pathetic, desperate part of her wanted to reach for you.
then the first strum of your guitar broke through the air, and the sound of it. low and rich and you sent a shiver down her spine. the band kicked in, bass thrumming in her chest, drums pulsing like a heartbeat.
she wanted to keep watching forever. but then something blocked her view. a shadow fell over her, and her stomach dropped.
her focus wavered just enough for her to realize. alex.
he was saying something, voice edged with nervous excitement, but she wasn’t listening. couldn’t listen. not when you were right there, bathed in golden light, bass slung over your shoulder, looking like something out of a fever dream.
then, as if you could feel her staring.
you looked at her.
the air in her lungs vanished.
it wasn’t immediate. you didn’t react at first, just held her gaze, steady and unshaken, fingers still moving over the strings, body still swaying with the rhythm. but sophia felt it.
the weight of it. the intensity of it.
your lips parted slightly as you breathed through the lyrics, loose strands of hair falling into your face, eyes barely lidded under the glow.
she had to look away. because if she didn’t, if she kept looking, if she let herself fall for you again and she wasn’t sure she’d survive it.
alex was still talking. something about how he’s liked her for a while, how he wanted to tell her properly, how he knew the timing wasn’t great. her pulse was still in her throat.
her thoughts were spiraling. all she could think about was you. she felt exposed. like something inside her had cracked wide open, and every feeling she had been pushing down for years was crawling out, raw and desperate, begging to be acknowledged.
she had spent too long convincing herself this was over. that whatever she felt for you was just nostalgia, and that she wasn’t still looking at you the same way she did when she was nine. hopelessly smitten.
she was right back where she started. and she was drowning in it.
“—so would you go out with me?,” alex was saying infront her. but all she could look at was you.
she barely even registered his voice. her thoughts were screaming. she needed to stop this. she needed to push it all back down, needed to bury it so deep it never saw the light of day again.
before she could think, before she could stop herself, the words were already tumbling out.
“yes, alex. i’d love to go out with you.”
