When I say I really want a Jason adopts tim fic, I don't mean I want him to become a parent at 19 to a teen like 2-4 years younger than him, I want Jason to meet Tim and decide that he wants Tim on his side.

I want Jason to adopt Tim as his Robin, like he decides that he wants to recruit this 15 year old that is some how the smartest and snarkiest person in Gotham. I don't want infantilised tim, I want a sorta Nani and Lilo sibling dynamic, but with a smaller age gap.

Like sure, Jason sees his little brother as some sort of soggy kitten that he must protect, but also a Tim that is very capable of looking after himself.

I want Tim to look at Jason, see Bruce back when he first donned the Cape and traffic light colours. And then in true Tim fashion decide to fix him, B was being too over protective since Red Hood showed up anyways.

Like imagine, Jason meeting Tim instead by accident when he drops in on a drug trade. Tim says some quip that throws him off his game while fighting. Jason basically losing to a very deadly fifteen year old who's not slept in 29 hours, and he thinks 'f it, I like the kid'. Then trying to recruit him consistently until Tim goes 'why tf not'.

Ok, this is from a Rafayel x Reader. However, the focus in this scene is on Sylus (are we surprised? No, I just like bestie Sylus vibes. The banter is fantastic). I think I do a good job of showcasing that Reader and Sylus are best friends rather than dating. Here it is!

Warning: Cursing

You reload your handgun in Sylus’s car.

“I don’t know why they aren’t aiming for your tires,” you mutter.

The owner chuckles. “Not everyone’s as smart as you, kitten.”

You roll your eyes, pop your head out of the sunroof, and lock onto their wheels. You put several of them out before your phone rings. You drop back down to look at it, but Sylus is already holding it up.

“Painter guy?” he questions.

“Yep,” you confirm.

“Put him on speaker,” the light-haired male requests.

You arch your eyebrow but agree. “Alright.”

You pick up the call, clicking the speaker icon.

“Hey, pearl, what’s up?” you ask.

“I found a cool seashell and I’m also—” he starts before hearing the background noise. “Are you in another Wanderer fight?”

Sylus speaks.

“Nope, car chase,” he corrects.

The line is silent as wind and bullets rush past the car.

Rafayel changes his tone.

A silky smooth voice comes out. “And you are?”

“Sylus, Leader of Onychinus. Nice to finally meet you. Kitten’s been talking about you recently,” he comments.

Your jaw drops as you give your best friend a scandalous look.

“You did that on pur—!”

He puts a hand over your mouth, trying to keep in his laughter.

“I’m trying to help you,” Sylus murmurs, amused.

You shove his big hand away.

“More like sabotaging my plan for a healthy relationship,” you mutter.

The big boss rolls his eyes and smirks, noticing your voice isn’t loud enough for the speaker to pick up.

You deadpan point your gun at him. “Shut up.”

“I didn’t say anything,” he answers, grinning. “I’m sure that’ll get him fired up, sweetie.”

Before you can say anything back, the back windshield shatters. You spin around.

“You distracted me again, (affectionately) fucker,” you accuse, moving to your original position.

“I beg to differ,” Sylus retorts. “I think it was your painter boy.”

“Don’t dump your faults onto someone else. It’s rude and looks bad. If your reputation wasn’t so poor, I would tell it to people,” you reply.

“Damn.” You hear him breathe out.

You focus fire on the black SUV behind you. You vaguely hear the boys talking about something from below you. You can’t hear their voices over everything else. Something wet sprinkles across your arms. You glance up and the moon is blocked by clouds.

You duck back into the vehicle.

“Rafayel, can you check the weather? We’re on Highway 47 going eastbound,” you request. “We’re about to get some rain and I wanna know how much.”

The white-haired male glances at you before saying in a saccharin-sweet voice, “I’ll be careful, sweetie.”

Your face drops, and your gun fires. He laughs, stopping the bullet from hitting him.

“Feisty kitty,” Sylus teases.

Another gunshot to his face.

“I hate you,” you reply.

Your best friend raises an eyebrow, humming. “Last time I heard, you loved me.”

You intentionally raise your voice super loud as you turn to start firing at the enemies.

“You need hearing aids, old man,” you yell.

“Old?” Sylus protests.

You look back and smirk.

“You’re halfway there. You got the white hair. Now you just need wrinkles and you’re all ready to go, grandpa,” you answer.

The side mirror next to you shatters.

“Oh shit, back to work,” you comment.

“You’re going straight into a thunderstorm, [Y/N],” Rafayel informs. “There’s a warning for flash flooding.”

Your finger pauses and you glance at Sylus.

He grins at you. “You know the drill, baby.”

“(Lovingly) Asshole, you almost killed us last time,” you answer.

He points out, “You’re still alive.”

“Pretty sure you skimmed off 10 years of my life. Dr. Zayne said my heart rate was off the charts after that incident,” you claim.

Your best friend gives you a concerned eyebrow.

“Exaggerating,” you clarify, rolling your eyes.

“Better safe than sorry. I know you have a heart condition.”

You hum. “Thanks for looking out for me.”

Then, Sylus smirks and nods to the phone.

Your jaw drops, knowing he brought up your medical concerns on purpose. You purse your lips and flip him off. You haven’t told Rafayel about it yet. He grins.

Without warning, the red-eyed man pulls a U-turn. You screech, holding on for dear life. He uses his Evol to flick your phone out of the car. Your eyes widen, as true offense and hurt gleam in your eyes.

Despite the insane speed he’s going at, Sylus softens.

“Trust me. He’ll come looking for you. I want to test him. I wanna see how long it takes him to get here. Can he figure out where we are? I want to make sure he’s good enough for you,” he explains. “I’ll buy you a new one.”

You frown, still slightly upset, but his reasoning makes sense. He doesn’t want you to get hurt, so you let it go. It’s a good idea to gain his approval anyway.

“You have to get me a better one,” you stipulate.

“Obviously,” the tall man replies. “Now, focus up. Let’s knock them out.”

You gain a bit of life back, sitting up in your seat. “More like knocking them out for eternity.”

Sylus smiles, glad you're feeling a little better after his stunt.

do you think alhaitham is a yearner for kaveh or the other way around

Anon thank you so much for this ask <3 it turns out that this is more complicated than I thought. since alhaitham is so embarrassingly obvious, I think kaveh’s own version of ‘yearning’ can be overlooked, so thank you for giving me an opportunity to explore both! I am using your ask as an excuse to show how embarrassing alhaitham is, he has no shame!! therefore i've had to split this answer into two posts!

alhaitham essentially building his life around kaveh being a part of it is ultimate down bad behaviour:

the house: alhaitham’s character stories give us very little about alhaitham’s life after his fallout with kaveh and his graduation. we’re told that he moves out of his grandmother’s house to move into the research facility gifted to him and kaveh? and it’s only after he moves in that he’s told by a third-party that kaveh has no need for the property, so only then does he convert the property into a house

So it seems he moved in with some expectation of encountering kaveh at some point, especially considering it was their joint property. There’s no reason given why he opted to move out of his grandmother’s house but I think it's interesting that kaveh’s character stories detail that a house is not a home without other occupants who understand him without words, which causes him to sell his parents’ house as he was the only occupant, which parallels with alhaitham moving out of a house in which he also is the sole occupant, into a property which ties him and kaveh together

The bulletin boards/academic journals: although it isn’t specified who made the first journal critique, if it falls in line with alhaitham incessantly responding to all of kaveh’s bulletin board points, I’d like to think that alhaitham reached out first here, just as he moved into their joint property without actually knowing that kaveh had no use for it – although they had separated at this point, regardless of who reached out first, alhaitham was still actively pursuing kaveh’s perspective here, as this was the only instance of kaveh being in his life… oh….

during the archon quest: alhaitham mentioning kaveh without any prompt whatsoever lives in my head, even more so that this seems to be a musing that he didn’t even mean to say out loud? Sick!!

And when kaveh eventually returns, alhaitham says that he doesn’t want to have to explain the whole thing to kaveh, so he should leave the house of daena before kaveh returns, but he doesn’t?

Special mention of the gathering in the grand bazaar where alhaitham equates his own happiness to that of the people of the gathering, and then immediately mentions how he must have taken both keys leaving the house, indicating that another reason for his happiness increased because kaveh has returned, and that his way of life has been maintained - meaning that kaveh is one of his priorities (i brainrot more about this here)

Alhaitham’s story quest: the motif of kaveh ensuring alhaitham’s content is returned to with force in alhaitham’s story quest with establishing kaveh as someone alhaitham chooses not to be objective about, with kaveh being framed as alhaitham’s priority

(additionally, this expression, absolutely criminal)

kaveh’s hangout and voice lines: kaveh is shown once again to be an exception to alhaitham’s objectivity, as alhaitham inserts himself into kaveh’s ‘fate’ to offer him a place to stay when kaveh’s choices led him to selling his house, having no place to go – this overturns alhaitham’s principle of being uninvolved with people’s fates, and pulling kaveh back to shore, as opposed to standing on the sidelines

kaveh’s hangout is really special to me as it showcases alhaitham’s whole understanding of kaveh, not only his inner psyche, but also how to secure kaveh’s happiness through an indirect action, as kaveh’s heart meter increases once seeing the response a student wrote to his annotations, it demonstrates that alhaitham’s care towards kaveh is most explicitly shown with actions

a parade of providence: alhaitham becomes the event's commentator solely to investigate Sachin to see if he influenced kaveh’s father, attempting to give kaveh closure and alleviate his self-destructive mindset. in the same vein, alhaitham leaves kaveh note that in a language the two learnt together for their thesis commenting on kaveh's ideologies and how it can lead to suffering.

this really solidifies that alhaitham's care is demonstrated in actions, and that a shift in communication is needed to properly show this. It’s here that alhaitham’s actions are the most explicit, and this leads to the major improvement in their relationship (which i explore more in detail here)

cyno's second story quest: thank you for chronic book gripper alhaitham reading his book when kaveh is out of the living room, and immediately putting it down when kaveh enters and begins telling alhaitham about his day, for alhaitham to encourage.

the animation that was so essential for the devs to include of alhaitham watching kaveh sketch when kaveh’s back was turned is such a comic example of yearning, it’s actually ridiculous

also alhaitham smiling when being asked to stay in the house of daena to work with kaveh??

alhaitham is one big yearner, he is that guy and he has no interest in beating the allegations!

Chilchuck analysis speedrun: As a hardworking half-foot who grew up poor and discriminated against and had his gullibility taken advantage of multiple times in his early adventuring days, Chilchuck thinks optimism is a dangerous flaw. He’s stressed and strict all the time because his job is noticing details like traps that could get everyone killed before anyone knows it, he takes the lives of everyone to be on his shoulders, and with the way he speaks about it that probably partly reflects how he felt about taking it upon himself to provide for his family too. His life’s always been pretty centered around work and has become even moreso now that his wife left and everyone is independent, and due to past events he’s very iffy with bonding with coworkers. He thinks feelings and job are a disaster mix. Like with his wife or with parties hiring him as sacrifice, being open or having good faith is vulnerability which can get you hurt, so he processes and shows all his stress as anger instead of worry. Doing strict dieting probably isn’t helping the irritability what with hunger, and on top of being a hunger suppressant alcohol might be the main stress reliever he has.

Alistair is having a grand time with his newfound sentience. He's been learning to play the harpsichord in the throne room, relaxing in the sauna (even though I'm fairly certain he lacks the ability to sweat), delving into Ivy's yaoi collection with Kwahu as a reading-buddy, and never straying too far from the luxury that is the Jones boys' coffee stash.

Of course, he is still the same old hardworking Alistair, and his efforts have paid off in the form of our brand-new android colonist! Everybody, meet Cora!!

She's very cute :3

Unlike Alistair, Cora has been programmed with an exceptional shooting ability, as well as plant skill instead of his crafting skill. She will be our hunter/gatherer mostly, and I'm very excited to see where the story takes her!!
